Notes on Rolls and Voting:

When I request rolls, each set of three rolls counts for one action. For example, a two-step plan would take the first 6 linked rolls. A particularly bad failure can interrupt a string of actions.

When rolling 1d100, I will consider criticals within the first ten linked rolls. Only criticals that occur in the first three rolls will be counted as "supercrits". This is still the case even if you'd have plan long enough to require more than ten rolls.

When rolling 1d20, the rules are the same, but I only consider criticals for the first five rolls, rather than ten. Criticals in the first three are still "supercrits".

When a plot choice results in extensive debate, I'll try to weed out the most popular trains of thought, and then call a vote on them. When voting, please respond with only a link back to the post and the number corresponding to your opinion. Other votes are discounted, including those with dice rolls or extra spaces.

Finally, note that this is not a democracy; it is a benevolent dictatorship.

Recent Events Summary:

It's noon on the final day before the battle. The attack will commence a few hours into the very early morning.

You decided to infiltrate Kan-Abar to try to learn if the enemy was aware of or responding to your plans for attack. You spied on King Nulis Vin, Kullia Nesteral, and the fourth Demon Lord.

They're aware of the alliance's plans, but don't know the full capabilities of your forces. Apparently, there are means in place to stop the abduction of further airships. It's probably best not to test them.

It turns out that Kullia was originally working with Sandalphon, but has turned on him in favor of the demons. As to why - you can only guess.

The Pentaverate is actually the summoning of the "Greatest" - the fifth and final demon lord. According to the Fourth, this Greater Demon will be able to breech the seal on the core of chaos, what the Fourth refers to as the "All-Power", and bring an end to Venia as it is now.

You've retreated to Arland, where you've gathered your inner circle for an emergency meeting...

>Last time...

Slowly, the demon lord looks away.

<...they are going to attack us,> the Demon Lord says. <This plays into our hands. The Chaotic disturbances created by the battle shall open the gate to the All-Power. And then the Greatest shall rise up, and there will be nothing that can stand against it. And it shall be the key to releasing the All-Power in full.>

"What about the angel?" Nulis says. He glances at Kullia. "Can we trust him?"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsdnrNKUPX8

"No, my love," Kullia says. She slips a hand up to Nulis's chin. "Sandalphon only means to use us. He allowed us to get this far for his own purposes. But we'll turn the tables on him. That's what I'm doing, remember? I'm his spy."

"Was."

"Was." Kullia rubs Nulis's chin. "Now, I'm yours."

You feel Spirit magic in her palm.

"You're mine," Nulis says. His face seems to calm.

"All yours, my king, my love. Yours, completely."

"Mine."

<The angel will no doubt put our energies to his own purposes,> the demon lord says.

Kullia looks up from the now-distant Nulis. "What of the Lady?"

<The Avatar of the All-Power is dead. John Nyx cannot be underestimated. He may be an agent of the Dark One Himself.>

"We have the details of their attack," she says. "Sandalphon must be confident that his plan will succeed."

<He cannot control the flow of the All-Power. His arrogance will be his undoing. And then the races of Chaos will not longer be imaginings, thought-drippings of parasitic mortals, but our own selves once more.> The demon lord looks at Kullia. <And power will be rewarded to you, and to many. And you revenge will be complete. A new age will dawn.>

"Yes."

And now, Kullia looks distant. Is she a manipulator, or being manipulated? Or does she simply not care? What revenge does she want, to sacrifice so much?

The All-Power. That must be the core of chaos. The demon lord thinks you're an agent of Erebus. So, they don't know everything - and they don't know about your plan to save Donovan. Not yet.

Kullia looks up again. "...Sandalphon said he would bring Nyx here, and that he is supposed to provide the role of a distraction. He'll just be stalling while the battle enters its fullest state of chaos, but we can't trust him to help us."

<I will face John Nyx.>

"But if the Lady could not defeat him - "

<I need merely hold him off. When the time comes, he will be left behind. We will allow the angel to make his sacrifice and lay his spell upon us. And then, his own attempt to bring forth the Lord of Light will merely facilitate us bringing forth the Greatest. And then the end of physicality shall come, and the only limits upon what is shall be our own imaginations. The All-Power will consume the world.>

"Everything will change." Kullia smiles. "All of Venia will be ours."

<Venia,> the demon lord whispers, <is but the beginning.>

Your allies sit around a table in a room in the castle, looking dazed. A heavy enchantment sits over the stone walls and tapesties, courtesy of Melody - preventing any outside ears from eavesdropping.

You made it out of the palace as quickly as you could, and called upon everyone as soon as you got back. Your inner circle - those that know your true identity - are all in attendance. Abigail, Auriel, Ila, Melody, Steward, Valeria, Hemmelus, Adavan, and Yi Fang.

Fang is the first to recover. He settles himself in his chair and folds his hands on the table. "This means," Fang says, "that Sandalphon has not just capitalized on this situation, he has instigated it. Everything falls into place."

"...I'm still trying to process," Auriel says. "How could he go so far?"

"How could he not?" Fang asks. "Kullia Nesteral was handpicked to foment friction and rebellion within Kan-Abar's royal family. In that, she has succeeded wonderfully. It may go as far as Sandalphon specifically using the country as a vector to summon the demon lords."

"But why?" Abigail asks. "All for Hyperion?"

"And another, greater reason," Fang says. "Why didn't the Ring City move against the alliance sooner? They had to have seen this coming - perhaps not on this scale, not reaching as far as Arland, but Sandalphon knew there were many with vested interests against his dictates. The answer is simple. They allowed us to organize specifically to create this very situation. The world, united against utter destruction. And who should come to save us? Why, Hyperion himself. Sandalphon has created a grand conflict so that he can be its savior. He will finally unite the world in his vision of peace. By force. And none would be the wiser." Fang looks at you. "But we are the wiser."

"How does Kullia play into this?" Auriel asks. "I knew her from the announcement of her betrothment to Obis - a daughter of one of the high nobles of the empire."

"The role he chose for her," Fang says. "She has probably been a subversive agent from the beginning. Unbeknownst to Sandalphon, however, she seems to have thrown in with the demons. Some combination of their corrupting influence, and her own motivations."

"What sort of revenge do you think she's after?" you ask.

Fang shrugs. "Perhaps the Prince Vin can give us some clues. But it would be a cruel thing to summon him here, now."

"What do you mean?"

"It is best," Fang says, "if Kullia and Nulis die in combat."

"Obis needs to know what she is," Auriel says.

"Does he?" Fang asks. "What will he do when he hears what Shadow has to say? Roll his shoulders and admit that Kullia is the mastermind behind pitting him against his brother and setting his nation at odds with the rest of the civilized world? I'm sure he'll take that wonderfully."

"Obis won't forgive me if I don't bring him to Kan-Abar to confront them himself," you say. "And he has the right. It's a battle that he has to finish."

"His selfishness will get him killed."

"How can he live with himself if he doesn't finish what he started?"

"How can he live with himself," Fang says, "if he finds out that everything he thinks he knows is a lie?"

"I think," Melody says, "you are verging on ironic territory."

"And because I have seen that territory," Fang says, "I know it is a place not worth treading."

"...unbelievable," Auriel says. "Am I witnessing the compassion of our dearest Archmage?"

"The prince will be useless if his morale collapses."

"Sounds like a convenient excuse."

>con't
>>
Fang ignores her. "Shadow. Obis should not be allowed to go to Kan-Abar. The fight is not there, it is here. You need to do what you do best, and get out. If he does not live to see his country out of this mess, it is quite likely that the empire will occupy Kan-Abar in an effort to 'stablize' it."

"Would you let Sandalphon do such a thing?" Melody asks.

"No," Fang says, "but that's no good reason not to have contingencies in place."

Auriel sighs. "Just when I think he's making progress, he starts talking about people as if they're contigencies."

"Old habits die hard," Fang says.

"Considering your state of unlife, I suppose that goes double."

Fang taps a finger on the table. "I'm glad you find our position at the brink of complete and total destruction to be one worthy of petty humor."

"Some of us have to bring a little levity to the table."

You're surprised Auriel is in such a good mood. Her visit with Donovan really turned her head around. That will help her when push comes to shove.

Fang has made some heavy points. The prophecy tells you that, without your help, if Obis heads off on a wild quest for vengeance, he'll die.

What do you do?

>>

>Suggest your plan to substitute yourself with a construct so that you can remain in reserve during the battle, leaving Sandalphon on a flat foot

Of course going for this one means we also don't let Obis go to the battle. But it also means that we don't really have the means to kill the demon lords by offing their summoners.

My thinking was that the construct would be distracting the demon lord while we kill the summoners.

How does this substitute actually help us otherwise or am I missing something pretty big?

We most know more.

>>31460780
Allows us to be at the battle instead of dicking around doing nothing in Kan-Abar.

Everyone knows nothing usefull will be accomplished in Kan-Abar because there is no way the Big Demon Lord will let Nulis die.

And Nulis has like 3/4 of them summoned himself.
>>
>>31460771
But if we have to take care of Nulis and Kullia AFTER the battle that still leaves demon lords in play.

Does that mean... we expect our allies to be able to defeat them with the aid of the Nemesis? I hope that's what it means, because otherwise BAM DEMON DICK TO THE FACE.

Because I like the plan in its essence as it allows us to hold Obis in reserve of his own free will as we leave the summoners for AFTER the battle. But still. That means the demon lords will have to be killed directly, not via their summoners.

An idea I have not considered.

I suppose putting the the gem in close proximity with a water dynamo may have UNEXPECTED SIDE EFFECTS INCLUDING BLEEDING, NAUSEA, LOOSE STOOLS, AND OVERCHARGED ICY BEAMS OF DOOM

--------
--------

So I guess we're going with construct distraction in favor of remaining poised in battle and ready to pounce at a moment's notice. Active, rather than reactive.

"Obis needs to know the truth, and we need all the information we can get."

"Shadow," Valeria says, "while the archmage makes his point bluntly, it does stand. The prince will not take this news well."

"We need to understand our enemies to defeat them. Eventually, Obis will move on."

You send a messenger for the prince. Obis enters the room slowly. He glances around at everyone. "What's going on?"

"Obis," you say, "there's something you need to know."

-------
-------

Obis is silent.

And awkwardness fills the room. Abigail coughs lightly. Melody shifts in her chair.

"...so," Obis says, "my fiance is a madwoman? Is that it?"

"She spoke the words herself," you say.

"I'll get the truth myself."

"We need to know why Kullia would do this."

"She wouldn't!" Obis says. "No more than anyone in this room would! How should I know the first damn thing about this?!"

"If anyone had a hint as to her motivations, it would be you," Auriel says. Her voice is soft. "This isn't an interrogation, Obis. We're just have to have everything on the table. If there's anything you can tell us..."

Obis is visibly agitated. He paces near the doors. "...she...she disliked Sandalphon's handling of the lesser elements. Especially Shadow and Spirit mages. She is...earth, and spirit, herself. But she is mainly light-souled, and was overlooked because of it. And her own position as a noble. But...she was bitter. Angry at the system."

"And specifics?" Fang asks.

"No," Obis grunts. "It never went further than that. She doesn't like politics."

"Apparently," Fang says, "she has misled you on that front."

"What? You said you're going with Sandalphon. You said you'd take me."

"I'm not going to Kan-Abar - I have a contingency in place. And if I'm not going, you're not going. It's too dangerous. Once we've destroyed the Pentaverate, we can confront Nulis and Kullia."

Obis, they know our plan already. They know that we're both going to try sneaking in there, as Sandalphon has given them that information. The Demon Lord will be lying in wait for us- while Sandalphons distraction does nothing to divert it away. It's the rawest form of a trap and you want to walk right into it and achieve nothing.

Every damn day, I've wondered why I'm even bothering with these over-complicated plans, the politics, the games, everything. Do you think the absolutes haven't crossed my mind? You know what I thought of the other day? That I'd return to Xile, find the controls, and then blackmail Sandalphon into giving up Donovan or having an island dropped on his city. Or maybe I'd find a way to free Geb, and set him loose on the empire. Or maybe I'd fly to Imil and teleport a volcano's worth of lava somewhere he wouldn't want it.

"But I didn't, because I'm not a blind idiot willing to sacrifice the rest of the world and everything decent to save my friend. I'm sitting here, thinking carefully, inching forward step by step, because I think that's the best way to save Donovan. And if I can't save him - if it's either him or the world - then I know what he would tell me to do! And I'll fucking do it! What do you have to say about that?!"

Obis is shocked silent. Everyone is leaning back, eyes wide. Even Steward looks bothered.

The lights in the room are flickering. There's a black aura coating you like a second skin. Violet energy is seeping from you like a steam.

Abigail is at your shoulder. Her hand touches your arm. "...Shadow."

You take a steadying breath. The lights come back on, and stay on.

>con't

"...if Sandalphon thinks Kullia is still working for him, he'll have told her all the details she'll need to know," you say. "The only thing waiting for us in Kan-Abar will be the Fourth Demon Lord. They won't risk their summoners. The only chance we have is luring them into the open and destroying them with a precision strike. That's what we're going to do. And whatever happens, I'll personally help you confront Nulis and Kullia in whichever way you choose."

"...fine." Without another word, Obis turns and walks out of the room.

"...so," Fang says, "do tell me how you plan on being in Kan-Abar and in Kelvere at the same time."

You explain to them you plan to use a construct as a stand-in to keep Sandalphon happy and the Fourth Demon Lord distracted.

Steward turns his head slightly. "Shadow. Using the power of a dynamo, is may be possible to empower a warrior that could survive a significant length of time against even a Demon Lord."

Melody glances you up and down. "I think we can disguise it to feel like you. Sandalphon isn't a detector. He won't know the difference. And the demon lord won't, either."

"Where will you be during the battle?" Fang asks you.

I agree with this guy; even if the pentavarate only needs the giant fifth guy, Sandals plan at least needs the 4 already here to work. Picking one off early could stop the whole ritual before it even begins
>>
>>31462018
It could also blow the Chronomancy plan and our chance to save Donovan. We have no idea where he is.
>>
>>31461938
>>31462018

If it dragged out at all, the other Demon Lords would teleport in to stop you.

Nothing stopping you from trying Erasure or something, if you can get a bead on one.

Remember that you were basically wrestling with 001 when you used that technique.
>>
>>31461917
Oh shit, we did get another dynamo shell at Xile, with arcturis no less. I'll second using that.

>>31461938
>>31462018
That point was brought up a long time ago and shot down every time because of one major problem.
The problem is Demon Lord teleportation. If that one is in danger it can teleport in others to help it, or alternatively teleport away to another demon lord after it gets weakened enough to kill. Or even have one teleport in and then teleport to another to tag team.
The chronomacy is our countermeasure for that.
>>
>>31462018
>>31461938
I'll second asking Freja to make sure Obis doesn't do anything stupid.

But going after demon lords in this way isn't really brilliant for what we're trying to achieve.

which is why I was suggesting we grab EXP in the fight.

We could use the exp and magic flying around there to recharge our shards

think about it. We kill, cause chaos which pushes the front.

we also can grab exp from demons who were shot down.

Eventually we'll become a target of focused magical fire which we can abosrb into shards via our new ability
>>
Note: I already charged your Dynamo Shell as part of the "arriving back from Xile" summary.

So what I'm getting is:

>send a Dynamo+disguise construct in with Sandals to Kan-Abar to play scarecrow
>hang out in the Nemesis until needed
>make sure Freja keeps an eye on Obis

-------
-------

As for going for a quick kill, there's multiple variables at stake here.

The point of the Chronomancy plan is to allow the demons to form their pentaverate summoning thingy, wait for Sandalphon to layer his sigil over it, and then activate the time slowing spell on top of that. And then, unleash the fury in a pinpoint strike to basically annihilate everything in the time-stopped region except for a tiny patch of earth where Donovan is standing.

If you kill a Demon Lord via Erasure - a perfectly feasible plan - then Sandals has no reason to bring Donovan out into the open. So, you'll have to retrieve him via alternate means.

Not discouraging the idea, just make sure you're aware of the potential complications.
>>
>>31461881
This
>>
>>31462090
The problem is that doesn't preserve the fate of the world by dealing with the sigil or having them all in the right place to be dealt with. The implication that we were wrestling with 002 when using erasure is that a personal teleport is still just as functional to get away from it.
>>
>>31462038
So we're only going to get one or two turns of combat before the other Demon Lords show up to wreck us?

Great.
>>
>>31462038
>Grapple with the berserker

>>
>>31462233
>>31462211
>>31462197
Then we save Erasure for after the chronomancy thing.

Because there's no way we'll get all of them.
>>
>>31462224
>So we're only going to get one or two turns of combat before the other Demon Lords show up to wreck us?

It's only going to call the others if it feels it is in immediate mortal danger. So, you want to plan your means of attack carefully.
>>
Rolled 45

>>31462197
we COULD goad demon lords into going further away from the main battlegrounds. Set a teleport anchor near the grounds, get far away enough it'd take them a little while to get us. let ourselves get surrounded, then gtfo to the main battle shortly before dropping bombardment

Also, can't we think with portals in regards to the kinetic bombardment?
>>
>>31462197

No, that's OK, I didn't realize that the demons need to be that close to do their pentaverate summoning thingy. I just imagine that the whole battlefield was going to be their pentaverate and Sandalphon just needed to put his sigil near the center.
>>
>>31462260
After the Chronomancy happens.

Because that one will be one of them to survive.

Then we wipe it from existence.
>>
>>31462274
Play with it a bit, then. Then when it feels threatened enough to summon the other Demon Lords, ERASURE TIME for all of them.

Or we could go with the Chronomancy plan.
>>
>>31462281
They teleport to each other instantly, distance doesn't matter.
>>
>>31462281
>Also, can't we think with portals in regards to the kinetic bombardment?

I find that unnecessary unless you're going to do something really fancy. I mean, I assume a ta minimum you'll be traveling downward at supersonic speeds when you unPocket your bombardment.

Also, Steward conveniently attached the missiles together so that you can unPocket them with minimal effort. They will separate over a wider area once released.

Theory:

Venia is a computer simulation and Erebus is an AI that got in through a back door.
>>
Just wanted to point this out: if the construct is found out there is the possibility of people finding out that it was powered by a shadow dynamo, and thus making the conclusion that not only is Erebus influencing things, but he's back on Venia making a direct impact.
Not to say that's necessarily a bad thing, nor is it a reason to not use the construct, just want to get it out there.

Erebus. Or just a Shadow Elemental, as Vellik presumed. Besides, there's been precedent for it with how many airships we've stolen and how we've been to Xile and we're a powerful Shadow Mage with connections to the automatons of Va'ad. It's not really a major concern.

We just have a matter of hours to figure out how to do it, and we have to assume that even reinforced with humanity they won't cause trouble on their own, and we have to hope that somebody doesn't interfere à la a certain elf queen.

Easy, right?

On a more serious note, could you explain what kind of preparation actually goes into the bombardment? I was thinking that it would just be a matter of being in the area, using supersonic to get high, then going sanicfast towards to ground to let loose.
And get away intact, of course.

You just gotta fly up real high and then fly down. But you can't do that and be busy somewhere else, obviously.

Remember that the bombardment is occurring -just after- the Chronomancy, when Donovan and friends are clear of the blast zone and your enemies are still recovering from airship fire. So, timing is important.

Anyway, time's a wasting

The point is that "channeling power (vaguely, somehow?) from a fragment of an elemental lord into a dynamo" is a thing nobody but us is capable of doing effectively. Because we're the only one with any level of experience in doing something along those lines, since we did it with our own body.

And even then, it took a pretty distinct effort on our part to get it to work properly without overloading the dynamo in question.

Just focus on battlefield control in the early phases (and don't blow our cover; if we're noticed on the front lines in addition to being back in Kan-Abar, a scout demon can pretty easily just send word back that one of us is a doppelganger.), then get back to the ship to charge up our weapons to make our focused fire as effective as possible.

A more effective initial bombardment = more time to set up post-Chronomancy for further attacks.
>>
>>31463054
Oh PLEASE anon. It's not like Hemmelus is playing us like a fiddle and the true purpose of the chronomancy is to put even more tons of CHAOS and ORDER at a slow and digestible rate towards the spell to summon Hyperion without actually damaging the core, right?

No.
The best chance we have is now, when they think everything is going to go their way and we have a small handful of trump cards that they don't know about.
>>31463204
Except SM implied that it would be a stupid fucking idea, so your point is null, even if he is "lying," because if you challenge everything the QM says, what's the point of playing in a quest?

You decide to hand over your Shadow Dynamo to Steward. You take him and the Black Lady to Haven, where they can work on it in secret.

Meanwhile, you speak with Freja and get her up to date on the latest intelligence. She's understandably disturbed, but gives you a fierce promise to look after Obis.

With matters in hand, you set your portal anchor south of the battlefield, in case you need to get clear of things quickly, and then return to the Shadow mana pool to meditate.

>(Silence) - Strong

--------

It's past midnight. The time is getting close.

You have to admit, you're pretty impressed when Melody and Steward reveal your double. Even Abigail does a double-take. The voice sounds like you, too.

You'll have to keep a relatively low profile during the battle, but your influence could help shape the battle lines. You'll rely on Fang's judgement for the details, though.

Your construct heads out to meet with Sandalphon, and you're confident that it's passing itself off. They'll be waiting behind the Imperial lines until Fang gives the word for them to teleport into Kan-Abar. That will be the deciding moment - once the Fourth Lord realizes that it's not really you, and not worth fighting, he'll be sure to teleport into the battlefield to start the pentaverate.

...hang on, Donovan.

Arcturis seems to consider it some sort of hybrid co-command position. He's been barking orders all morning. It's like having scum on the bottom of your shoe, only with an inflated sense of self-importance.

"Would you," you say, "shut up?"

"What was that?" Arcturis says. He turns in his saddle.

"I said, how long until the sun is up?"

"Ah. About three hours."

"Indeed."

Steward's constructs, to the north, number about 1500, though that doesn't count the teams of smaller repair drones. Melody has mustered 35,000 of her own troops, and two Airships. Your own airships are relatively burdened at the moment, carrying your fleet of smaller fighters.

Arland's forces number about 13,000; 2,000 of those being Mage-Knights. Archon has brought forth 25,000 of its own troops. Vellik is nearby with his remaining 2,000, and then there's Haven and the Great Forest. The werewolves and the orks have been breeding, apparently; Great Tree has brought 1500 wolves, and Vaz Grak 2500 warriors. Added to that are 3,000 of Valeria's elves and 1200 soldiers and rangers courtesy of Felnoir. The Nemesis holds about 400, apparently.

To the south, there is Atlantis, and the empire. Sandalphon holds strong with about 50,000 soldiers and mages. Atlantis has contributed roughly 5,000.

Auriel is in the sky, commanding the navies. You have the Nemesis - somewhere - alongside Melody's Vengeance and Haumod. Vellik is on board his own Bolt. Your own three airships are hanging in the back. Arland has lent the Sebastian Flint, which was an effort, because that idiot Harvan didn't want to risk any at all. All, of course, were originally stolen from Archon and subsequently renamed. But you have the distinct feeling they tend to whitewash the details.

To the south, the Empire sails 4 airships.

All in all, you have coordinated 113,000 troops. And you're still outnumbered over 2 to 1. Luckily, having 12 airships against their 5, giving you a decided aerial advantage, if you can capitalize upon it.

You're in the hills on the eastern side of the basin, leaning over the table at your command post. The pieces are in place. The board is set. The valley below is filled with lines and lines of restless soldiers, taking what rest they can after their marching. Below you stretches the vast flat valley of the basin. Wide, open ground, unbroken but for a few clusters of woods and the occasional boulder.

The front legion of the 250,000 Kanian force has already begun moving forward to crush the joint Arland-Archon leading forces. So far, exchanges have been limited to arrows and long-distance magical skermishes, but the advantage of surprise helped tip the casualties in your favor thus far.

The airships are steadily bullying back their Kanian rivals. There are occasional flashes of air-to-air fire in the clouded skies up above, but Auriel has reported that all of them have fallen short. It will take time to establish low-altitude safety and provide air-to-ground support.

It's worth noting that 'Fang of Archon' doesn't have any activation conditions. Should we just assume that this is a one-time thing?

Using it for the "double active summons" clause is almost entirely useless because having 0 mana (which happens at the end of the duration) means you have to make Control checks on all of your active summons.

Risking 30 slots worth of Fang's summons going full Dave, especially when it also depletes his mana barrier, leaving him with a paltry 20 HP, is utterly unthinkable in a battle of this magnitude.

They're only summons so the summoners can just recoup while we draw them in.

We already have more direct attack options than he does, and our Blink doesn't cost any mana.

We're still piloting around his corpse. We have his magic, and his magic looks surprisingly weak in comparison to the new big fish.
>>
>>31464547
He's still here you know.
>>
>>31464402

Glass cannon though. If he runs out of mana, he is basically a sitting duck. It looks like almost any decently skilled character or someone who gets a lucky rolls vs fang without his mana shield will kill him.

That's OK though. We have a bunch of stealth options available to us, and some tanky friends.
>>
I really want to see Abby's character sheet now.
>>
>>31464600
Damn straight.
>>
>>31464465
So we already have knowledge of what Yi Fang's capable of; do we know what he already has pre-summoned?

Like, he obviously didn't just go into battle while not maxed out on summons.

Pre-summoning 15 Flesh Titans seems optimal from a pure damage output standpoint, and leaves a full mana pool available (because of no upkeep costs) for further re-maxing of troops and offensive magic.

But that also leaves the entirety of his troops being incredibly vulnerable to fire magic, which is probably a bad idea against Kanian mage troops.

...And almost more importantly, it also means Fang would've needed piles upon piles of raw material. And we don't really want to get into how he gathered up that much raw meat and bone and sinew. Because we really, really wouldn't want to know.

That said, 30 base attack with no upkeep, and only using up 1 summoning slot is absurdly efficient, and we should probably attempt to create one wherever we can if we come upon enough raw material in the course of battle.

Being free of Shadow's previously established aversion to undead troops is kind of fun.
>>
>>31464580
That's like saying almost any decently skilled character or someone who gets a lucky rolls vs shadow without his regen will kill him. His mana shield IS his hp. Remember how much damage Abby did to us until we healed?

WATER TREE COMPLETED

>Waterborne (unlisted passive bonus)
- swim as fast as you can run. Water is no longer a barrier for you.
- bonus water resistance
- +10 mana reserves
- regeneration starts on the same turn injuries were inflicted

Water Resistance is now "Extreme"
____________________________________________________________________________

So water was the smallest magic tree. Whatchya think we'll get for completing the Shadow Magic tree?

I'm thinking some combination of reduced costs on shadow magic, between 20 and 50 more mana, better mana regen, damage bonus to shadow magic, stealth bonus, more light magic resistance, or some other stuff. Maybe there will be some super spell that unlocks with it please don't fucking cost xp for every use.
>>
>>31465055
That makes the Spirit Tree very worthwhile to complete.
>>
>>31465055
Well for the Shadow Magic tree we need 92 XP. Assuming Flesh Golem and Heartstone Titan aren't part of the tree, that is.

However they very much look like they are, so that totals to about 137 XP.

Lucy, at our level of power then, was impossible.

We did most of the damage and spend part of our efforts protecting our allies. We also were short on mana at the beginning of the fight. We could have taken him out fine.

OKAY.

>>
>>31465637
With consistently good rolls? Absolutely anyone in the settings. One on one. Keep in mind when you say "good rolls" I'm assuming every one of our rolls passes the DC, AND an idealized combat situation where we don't have to face extra threats.
>>

30/70 in his favor at best.

Lucy was flashy as fuck but our fight in the airship demonstrated how vulnerable he was to mind crush. Everyone below Yi Fang is within our power to take out if we were to fight smart and play our strengths against their weakness.

No, that's true. If we can pass absolutely every DC that gets thrown at as with multiple and consistent 100s in the top three in a one on one fight then we can probably face anyone with odds so absurdly stacked in our favor. Except probably Dave.

That's why the original question is so absurd, it's asking how well we would do if we couldn't fail dice DCs.

>>31465766

Yes, we have both now.
>>
>>31465793
>I meant if our rolls would hit the DC exactly.
And that's what that means. Hitting the DC exactly means you cannot fail the DC, you've met it. If that DC happens to be 100, you meet it because "you've hit teh DC exactly." You silly optillarian.
>>
>>31465814
And that's not what you said. Your scenario assumes supercrits every time.
>>
>>31465835
The scenario assumes we pass any required DC, the example was used in case the required DC was several or more supercrits.

That's what you get when you can "hit the DC exactly," but also happen to need ridiculously good rolls to hit what is needed for a success.
>>
>You silly optillarian

A what?
>>
>>31465858
>implying a DC is ever going to require supercrits

Anyways, it seems that "always" is too hard to analyze. We succeed at 3 out of every 4 rolls which is probably a little better than our current record.
>>
>>31465893
How is always too hard to analyze? Always means always. Forever. Never otherwise for an instant.

Succeeding at 3 out of every 4 rolls is much more vague, because the important of a roll is determined by the process of the combat that led up to that point and what is actually being rolled for. Whether its using a carefully wedged advantage, or jumping the gun on a consumption.
>>
>Greater wisp

tfw we will never summon anything strong

>>
>>31465975

We really need to get on with eating more people, I feel bad about it but Aby had the right idea with the room full angels.
>>
>>31465926
Perhaps I should clarify.

"Always" being able to succeed a DC means that we never get hit unless we have to shield something, we always hit with at least normal damage, and (most importantly) we always manage to consume, if we choose to do so.

My intention in asking the original question was to determine Shadow's power level. Having us always succeed rolls defeats the purpose of that, because we can punch well above our weight class in doing so.

Ugh. One last try. Every roll is 60.
>>
>>31465793
I'm busy, gimme like 30min

Or you could look yourself
>>
>>31466005
Too many variables.

Your question has become even more moot because instead of having a baseline for the essential mechanic you're including ancillary factors into things, even worse than that is the only person who can answer the form of the question "Who can we face if we roll 60s all the time?" with a realistic level of insight isn't going to.
>>
>>31466005
all our rolls are 60?
then we probably won't progress at all and the quest gets delayed until the dice rolling system gets fixed
>>
>>31466005
>My intention in asking the original question was to determine Shadow's power level.
Between Abby & Melody. Who are both variables between the first Demon Lord and Sandalphon. There ya go. The method you're trying to get an answer for the question flat out doesn't work.
>>
>>31466110
That chart only determines raw magical potential, not combat prowess, spell power, or other stats.
>>
>>31466116
Even more reasons why trying to determine shadows power level that way is a waste of effort.
>>
>>31466051
>>31466126
Alright then. I bow to your wisdom, o fellow anon.
>>
>>31466116
but didn't you asked for shadows power level
thats what you asked for >>31466005?
>>
>>31466139
Magical potential =/= true power level.

Things like combat prowess, physical strength, endurance, special abilities, spell versatility, spell power all factor into a character's total power level.
>>
>>31466178
Personally I think we should summon Dave and consume him to unlock our full power level.
