>>31509203Sabbatine almost drags you as she runs towards the dormitories pulling you by the hand. You enter the building through the same door that you it through. True enough, she lives across the hall from you in room 088. You notice she simply opens her door, without a key. None of the rooms are lockable.Sabbatine comes back out of her room holding a pile of clothes and a towel, then says, “Well, what are you standing around for? It's already 06:35 and we're both in need of a shower. You'll want to wear your dress uniform, like I said. Oh, and try to take a quick shower. There's shampoo and soap in the head, extra towels too.”You go into your room, and grab the dress uniform from the armoire, electing to wear the pants bottoms. You're supposed to have a roommate, but there's not sign that she's been here. As you get your clothes, you notice a wrapped package underneath all of them, about the length of your arm. It has a familiar seal, so you go to open it up, but you hear Sabbatine tell you to hurry up.You follow her to the “head.” It's set up with communal showers. She finishes a minute before you do, then tells you she'll be waiting outside. About five minutes into your shower, the water turns cold. You shriek, and you hear peals of laughter from outside. You finish up quickly, your hair finally neat.Sabbatine is waiting out in the hallway, fully dressed, and says, “Well, let's go. The service starts at 07:00.”In another hallway, you hearing a banging noise. You look to see a robed man carries a hammer and hits it against a round shield, a burning lho-stick between his lips. His bearded face looks somewhat familiar. He is shouting, “Wake up already, lazy children! Are you telling me”>Let her go ahead, investigate the package>Ask her about your roommate>Go straight to the temple>Walk up to the robed man
>>31509245>>Let her go ahead, investigate the package
>>31509245Shoot, that last line should be "Are you telling me you'll be sleeping in on the first Emperor's Day of your new education?"
>>31509245>Let her go ahead, investigate the packagelets see whether its for the uniform and catch up to her
>>31509245>>Let her go ahead, investigate the packagethen>>Walk up to the robed man
>>31509287>>31509415>>31509419Investigating package it is. Writing.
>>31509629“Ah, I'll be right there. Just need to...do something first. We've got still got a bit of time left.”You're afraid she'll question you, as it's the morning of your first day, what would you have to do? She raises her eyebrow a tiny bit, but only says “okay,” reminds you not to be late, then departs. You return to your room, intending to find out exactly what that package is. You shut the door as firmly as you can and close the shutters of the window. You take out the package from the bottom of the armoire and sit down on the bed with it in your lap.It is wrapped in simple brown paper and twine, and almost as long as your arm. On one side of the package is a wax seal, though it serves not to actually seal the package. Examining it, your mind goes back to your lessons under your private tutor on Alamos Primus. You had been made to memorize all the names, heraldries, and mottoes of every noble house of your home planet. But you'd recognize this one anywhere. It was all over your house. This is the seal of House Fuentes. You carefully open the package, and find a note in the first fold of the paper. It reads:“Your father left this in my possession before he died. I now return it to you. Use it well.”Sitting on your lap is a main gauche, a parrying dagger. It is quite a beautiful thing, with its ivory grip and metal furnishings. This belonged to your father, and his father, and his father's father before him. It is a family heirloom, passed down to the heir, almost a sign of recognition and authority. This should have gone to your brother, instead of you, the eldest daughter. On the length of the blade is inscribed the family motto, barely visible, the blade being no stranger to use.Gained: [Fuentes Blade of Succession: gain +1 to sword combat rolls]>How you do you feel about this? >>31510324>Wear it with your dress uniformfuck yeah, we feel pride that dad thought we should have it, and hope we can be worthy of it.>What does the motto say?uhh quick, someone come up with some cool sounding latin

>>31510439what, suddenly we're copying off of royal marines?
>>31510414google results in Fide et Virtute for "By Faith and Valor"works for me
A majority on how you feel about it and the motto would be good. The motto will give you a stat bonus, and how you feel about it will affect your approach to a future plotline.
>>31510477>royal marinesActually didn't know that was their motto. It's also my family motto as well, and the only latin I could think of.
>>31510529question, if we were to use 'faith and valor'would this increase our willpower?
>>31510529I'll stick with >>31510380 for how I feel about it, for the motto I like Fide et Virtute (By Faith and Valor), its something we can use as guidance to live by, to always be valorous and have faith in ourselves and our cause.
>>31510414Shouldnt we have some kind of option of the motto. Or is this one of those set in stone things?>>31510380>>31510382>>31510439Also. I vote for NOT putting it on our dress uniform. 10 more minutes to discuss then I start writing.
>>31510639seeing as its our dress uniform, which traditionally means a ceremonial sword or sabre is worn when appropriate, and its Emperor's Day, and it was left with our clothes, and the picture of Sabatine has her wearing one, its pretty obvious we can and probably should wear it, and besides, its much safer on our hip than in our room where it can be stolen>Shouldnt we have some kind of option of the motto. Or is this one of those set in stone things?this is where we decide what the motto should be, and I'm liking Fide et Virtute out of all suggested ones
>>31510716Nobody knows we have it.Everyday is emperors day.Oh fine. If we must. But we're not using it to show off.
>>31510716Oh, um, just for future reference, all images, are for, well, reference. They won't be exactly what I go by, and I can't find the perfect picture for what I have in my head. But yes, Sabbatine is wearing a dress saber.
>>31510711Im voting for By Sea, By Land. Give us some sort of fieldcraft bonus possibly? Or something to do with initiative and navigation.
>>31510768Sunday is Emperor's Day. It's the Imperial equivalent of the Abrahamic Sabbath.
>>31510711still going with Faith and Valor, English or Latin
>>31510797I don't like the sound of it, considering our potential future careers, it would be more appropriate if it was something like "By stars, By sky" or something, it sounds cool but not really appropriate for the setting
Urgh. You guys. Making it hard for me to count votes.http://strawpoll.me/1511104You have 10 minutes.
im going to have to go with "Fide et Virtute"And i suppose we should feel honored
>>31510857Sea could just as easily mean imperial navy. But im not sure if we want to go in that direction. This is but the first of many divination-type decisions.
>>31510926Guys, what do you think about this"By Faith and Valor, From Ashen Fire, We Come to the Sky"
How about" Sunderer of False Hope"
>>31510994That's a bit long-winded, don't you think?
>>31510999Grimdark. I like it.SSeconded
>>31511027a little bit but when aren't things in 40k long-winded
>>31510994>>31510999Nah, lets just get this over with.Atleast the top vote for faith and valor mean we're not gonna turn all heresy.Although i did like the idea of that fieldcraft bonus...
>>31510999I like it. But What kind of bonuses we would get from it ?
>>31510926Tough choice between Faith and Valor vs From Ashen Fire since the latter reminds me of rogue trader for reasons.I wanna trade rogues.

>>31511298it was evenly contested between the two option on the poll before Faith and Valor edged ahead, and there was talk of combining them so it makes sense
>>31511315I thin Sunderer got more votes
>>31511343more discussion but I only counted 2 votes, but it does not matter vastly, we can always earn more motto's and engrave them on weapons and equipment we come across in the future
Lets get going before we're late to the Temple yo.
At least no troll posted any heretical engravings. It would be stupid if we carried a sword that wrote"Death to the False Emperor"
>>31511475a better one would be "Death to the enemies of the false emperor"
>>31511132Relax, guy. I'm just saying what I'd personally like to see happen in the future. I know what Schola Urmumemium is about.

Though you wonder why this has gone to you and not your younger brother, a tear almost comes to your eye. You feel proud that your father felt fit to bestow this upon you. This may be the be the only thing you have of home for a long time. You think, though, that one day you may have to return this to your younger brother someday, but that could be long past leaving the Schola, as he's a mere babe now.On the blade is the family motto, which reads, “Faith and Valor, From Ashen Fire, to the Sky,” reflecting history of military tradition in House Fuentes. You sheath the blade and put it in the belt of your uniform. All the materials used in its making come from Alamos Primus, the leather of the sheath and the ivory of the grip coming from a large boar-like beast. You wear the sheath on the belt of your uniform and head out. The chronograph on the wall reads 06:45.As you step out of your room, the hallway is abuzz with young girls going about their morning routine. The drill abbot is still banging on his shield, yelling at all of them to get ready. The occupants of this floor seem to all be your age, but you see a few older girls about. It's a bit weird to see the drill abbot in the middle of the commotion of girls in varying states of dress. Everyone seems to be changing into dress uniform, and you see a few sabers hanging from hips, mostly on the few seniors. Is it an honor of some kind? The abbot sees you, fully dressed with your blade, and nods. You exit the dorm.As you pass the male dormitory, you hear a yell from above you, “Dynamic entry, think fast!”There's a blond boy jumping out of a window, saber coming down in a slash at you.>Dodge>Parry his blade>Grab his arm, throw him>Other?Choose one.
>>31511771>Parry his blade
>>31511771Grabbing and throwing would be the best way to humiliate him but parrying would be super cool, if more difficult, I think. How about...>Grab his arm, throw him>Other: Unsheathe your blade and point it at his now thrown formToo rowdy too early.
>>31511771>OtherUnsheath the dagger and throw it into his neck. We be gettin extra corpse starch tonight!

>>31511817watthis be grimdark, not grimderp...

>>31511771>“Dynamic entry, think fast!”Stick to wall like stick-insect.>everyone in the thread trying to be so goddamned cool
>>31511840Well then we don't have to throw it in his neck, but we still shouldn't let this last longer than a pass considering he has a sword and we have a dagger. And the "dynamic entry" just means that he will be going forward within our range.
>>31511825Exactly.>>31511833Get outa here samefag.
>>31511860>we have a dagger.yes, a maine gouche, a parrying dagger, not a throwing dagger and not suited to any kind of flight...stop trying to be stupid about it
I count a tie between dodge and parry. You have the next five minutes to change your vote. If it still comes to a tie, I'll roll a 1d2 to break ti.

Weapon Skill: 10 3 5 = 2 successesYour back is to him as he falls, saber in his right hand held up for a downward slash. You pivot counterclockwise on your right foot and draw your parrying dagger. He attempts to deliver the blow right before he lands, and you execute a downwards circular parry. There's a crack, and the upper half of his blade clatters across the pavement. He lands, off balance, and you kick his leg out from under him. He topples over onto back. Your boot is now scuffed. There's another shout above you, from a dark-haired boy who comes to the same window who says, “Barty, you idiot, that's a ceremonial blade! This is the third time!”You wonder what's going on here. You look to the side to see a drill abbot heading towards you, a large hammer slung on his back.>Get out here, head towards the temple>Put your blade to “Barty's” neck. “Yield!”>Stand there, ask what's going on.>Other?

Calling it for going straight to the temple. Writing.
>>31512452You really need to sort out your selection process. First it was a vote, then all the votes got rolled into one.It isnt that hard. You take the best idea and run with it. Screw all the rest. This is about fun.
>>31512545Or he could just take the majority as long as it's not majorly out of character.
>>31512545what the fuck are you smoking?
You don't have time for this. You should be heading straight to the temple. Wouldn't want to be late. You sheath your blade and turn away from the boy on the ground. The drill abbot lets you pass without a word, and you hear him shouting something about broken blades, PT, and payment as you walk away. You arrive find to Sabbatine waiting at the doors to a side chapel, tapping her foot and pouting. You enter the chapel behind her. To call it a chapel though, would be like calling a grand cathedral on a shrine world a regular-sized church. The campus temple is the fourth largest single building on campus, right behind the gymnasium and dorms. This side chapel seats several hundred. As you walk in, Sabbatine whispers, “We're celebrating separately from the rest of the schola today.”She doesn't tell you why, only leaving you to wonder. By now, the chapel is filled up for the most part, uniformed students kneeling in prayer, facing the large stained glass window of the Emperor at the front of the chapel. There's small group apart from the rest on the right side, a stern faced abbot nearby them. The chapel is quiet enough that you can make out their whispers of confusion. They wonder why they are here. You recognize them as the sleepers who you arrived with, though you can't find the boy who's shoulder you slept on.You take a seat in the third row from the front when Sabbatine recognizes her roommate. She introduces you to her as Alizabeth Davine. The red-haired girl gives you a nod, but stays silent. Her eyes, are...haunted. Sabbatine mentioned that most of your class were together since they were kids. You wonder if it's related to the “Wind” she mentioned. The last ones to enter are a group of four boys. It's your attacker, his roommate, and two other boys. One of them is the boy from the truck. You're a bit surprised he's not with the others.(1/?)
A bell rings to mark the hour. A door opens to the front of the church, on the side. Gelus steps out. He begins the mass.As a celebration of Emperor's Day goes, it's nothing different. After it ends, nobody leaves and Gelus turns to face the seated students.“I am Drill Abbot Prime, Coriolanus Gelus. Today is your first day as cadets of the Schola Progenium. Many of you have been here since you were much younger, but today marks the start of your new lives. You orphans, rejected by fate, will be turned here into the chief cornerstones of the Imperium. You shall only ever rest on the Emperor's Day. My colleagues and I will be the hammers at the forge of this Schola. Education starts tomorrow. A practical lesson on the local planet. Sleep tight.”With that, he dons a gas mask. Clouds of gas pour quickly into the chapel. You feel woozy. Not again.[Session end]
>>31512957Thanks for the thread OP, any idea when next session will be?
>>31512957Well, that's certainly one way to end a ceremony
>>31512957Getting tired of these gassings. That aside, leaving the wanker be and heading to the temple was the best course, now that I think about it. Gotta step up my game.Looking forward to your next session, Valefor.
As always, constructive criticism and suggestions are always welcome. I need to work on moving the plot quicker and working in better choice points.>>31513011Possibly tomorrow, but definitely this weekend.
Next session: meeting your cadet squad and surviving in the forest after jumping/being kicked out of an aircraft.
XP Gains:2-Base1-Hurting Joffrey
