Notes on Rolls and Voting:

When I request rolls, each set of three rolls counts for one action. For example, a two-step plan would take the first 6 linked rolls. A particularly bad failure can interrupt a string of actions.

When rolling 1d100, I will consider criticals within the first ten linked rolls. Only criticals that occur in the first three rolls will be counted as "supercrits". This is still the case even if you'd have plan long enough to require more than ten rolls.

When rolling 1d20, the rules are the same, but I only consider criticals for the first five rolls, rather than ten. Criticals in the first three are still "supercrits".

When a plot choice results in extensive debate, I'll try to weed out the most popular trains of thought, and then call a vote on them. When voting, please respond with only a link back to the post and the number corresponding to your opinion. Other votes are discounted, including those with dice rolls or extra spaces.

Finally, note that this is not a democracy; it is a benevolent dictatorship.

>Last time...

<PEACE! NOW!>

A shield of dark crystal ribbed in white fire appears in front of you.

The Void Bomb is unleashed. Peace curls about your front side, cocooning you from the storm of Order. You snatch the shard lying in the foundation next to you.

It's Retribution.

When the dust finally clears, you're lying on your back, resting on a tiny pedestal of dirt and cement that teeters over an abyss. The rest of the ground has been hollowed out by the rain of implosions. It crumbles under you, and you fall into the pit.

The world shivers beneath you, and you feel something change. You're not just falling anymore. You're getting pulled downward. It feels hot. The volcano again?

Up above you floats Erebus. He's blasted off with tremendous power - but he's not getting very far, very quickly. His backside glows purple.

You look back.

Erebus was lit up because you're at the edge of a massive red sun so large that it takes up the entire sky behind you, up and down, as far as you can see.

<Shadow!> Humanity shouts. <Get us out of here, now!!>

>you've gained 2 hp from regeneration (62/81)

<Hang on!> you shout.

You activate Hypersonic.

>EXP: 13

Power explodes underneath you. The wings on your back shine with power, adding to press of your aura directed straight behind you. Retribution shields you from the forces as your body from the sheer strain.

You slowly begin to peel away from the star. You're gaining on Erebus, but every inch is a struggle.

A massive arc of fire and plasma miles-wide reaches up like a grasping hand. You and Erebus angle left, trying to escape being roasted. You both loose altitude to the star as you pour parts of your forward force into turning, rather than just escaping.

The arc of the flare just misses you, singing your feet. But it doesn't go before you pocket a hunk of the stuff.

>you've taken 2 damage (60/81)
>you've acquired a ball of solar plasma (Pocket)
>mana: 62/90

<Shadow, he's using magic!>

You unleash multishade!

>mana: 62/90

Three copies of yourself split off along the arc of the sun's surface. Unhindered by gravity's pull, they fly up through the void, outdistancing Erebus.

A twinkle like a violet star is all the warning you get before he fires a Ray of Darkness. You barely Blink out of the way before the shot of power blazes past you and vanishes into the depths of the star's corona.

But Erebus continues his spell, pouring in more power. He sweeps the ray back up like a massive sword. But before it strikes you, you merely blink to another one of your shades. His spell flickers out.

You're now above him, still gaining. Even with only that much distance, you can feel a noticeable difference in the force the mighty red sun is exerting on you.

You feel something shake. A new force pushes you slightly to the side. Erebus is wavering, too.

What is that?

Another arc of plasma forms on the surface of the star. If the last one was a finger, this one is an arm, a massive battering ram. A wall of fire and energy hundreds of miles wide is seconds away from burning you and Erebus to a crisp.

You have a feeling it's going to hurt you a lot more than him.

An Erebus like a sea creature from the darkest depths swings at you from behind.

You barely manage to duck as a flurry of blades whizzes through the water behind you. You absorb the shard.

It's Ardor.

You blast off from the river bottom swimming as fast as you can. That's much faster than Erebus. Oddly, he isn't suited for the water...

<Water is our domain,> Humanity says. <It's Orderly...but still more chaotic than he used to handling!>

<Good thinking!> Erebus's aura charges behind him, but you're quite a distance away. <Is that a spell?> you ask Humanity.

<I don't sense any mana. I'll try to find another shard!>

Erebus explodes like a spinning arrow of darkness. But the weight of the river rises and crushes him to the side. He buries himself into the mud on the right side of the riverbank, drilling a long tunnel into the dirt. Water rushes in to follow him.

<Alright, next shard behind you.> Humanity pauses. <He's changing something, be on your guard.>

You turn around to follow Humanity's instructions.

There's a huge cannon sticking out of the riverbank. It's pointed straight at you.

Fire glows at the end of the cannon.

You leap.

A wall of boiling water explodes behind you, steaming your backside - but you're up in the air, out of the river. A roar of water rushes to fill the gap created by the cannon.

Your wings flash, and you hit the ground running. You're in hills bordering the river. In the distance is a castle sitting on a bluff - Evinbrook. This is where the airship crashed after you fought Raziel.

The shard glimmers beneath you. You grasp for it.

It's Maker.

When you turn back to face the river, Erebus is on the bank and running toward you, he blinks once, twice, rapidly approaching in an erratic pattern. You follow his movements.

You use Dark Wave.

Your aura compresses onto your skin in a thin film, then explodes outwards. A dark wind rolls from you in waves, coating the field around you. Grasses are torn up and flung into the air with each roar of power.

Erebus struggles forward. He stands, anchored to the ground with a dozen tentacles, shoving himself straight through the waves of shadow. Bits of his arms are torn away, but he ignores it.

<It's like he can't even feel it!> Humanity shouts.

You only have a few seconds. You see the shard glimmer where the grasses surrounding it were pulled up. You grab it, even as one of Erebus's other arms rips through part of your body. You pull yourself away from his blow, leveraging against the last Wave of your aura.

>you've taken 3 damage (61/81)

You absorb Resolve.

There's a tremor in the air.

The air around Erebus begins to warp. A howl grows in the air. Black flames surround Erebus's form.

A huge pressure rams into your back. You feel yourself sucked toward him. You struggle to dig in, but the force is incredibly powerful.

<What is he doing?!>

<It feels like my power!!>

Erasure. COUNTAH CROSSU

The whole game of us vs ourselves (Erebus vs Shadow) is a matter of grinding down resources. He should be considered to have effectively limitless EXP, but unable to access any element but shadow. Still, all his shadow trees and everything associated are likely maxed out.

Have you noticed he's not using anything except order? Try using things that we started off vulnerable to before gaining resistances in the non-shadow trees.

This is a game of grinding out his MP until we can turn around and pound on him with our shards. Doesn't our regen come from the earth tree, anyway?

FAST BLINK THE FUCK AWAY AND SPAM MULTISHADE

Waste his Erasure and use ours later so that it actually hits hard.
>>
>>31668768
He would probably just eat through it and get us anyways - Erasure is time-limited, not mass-limited, and he can move really fast.
>>
>>31668559
Fast Blink away. If we can't escape, use Erasure.
>>
Wait, why didn't we use analyze at the beginning of the boss fight?
>>
>>31668813
Because we were trying to not die
>>
>>31668824
Yeah, but we could've opened the fight with it instead of hammer.
>>
>>31668690
>to waste it

Note that it doesn't get 'used up', it's time-based.

>>31668813

I regret ever making analyze active rather than passive. Consider it always on, because for all intents and purposes it always is. In fact, I'm changing it right now. It's just a duplicate of Focus anyway.

You counter his power with Erasure.

Humanity shudders. The white flames of the crystal flare. The power coats your skin just as the darkness coats Erebus.

The air around you warps. Space itself starts to break down at the threshold of the fire on your skin.

You're both drawn inexorably inward.

<What is this?>

<You're not the only one with a delete button.>

You're sucked closer and closer by the forces of your powers. The grass and earth nearby is contorted and sucked into you. The fake reality bends around the two contrasting points of light. You're surrounded with a halo of debris and wind as the space buckles.

Energy crackles and sparks as your flames nearly touch. You can't hear anything over the sheer howl of space tearing itself apart just between you.

Your flames touch his.

The world freezes. Everything goes quiet.

>compensating...
>compensating...
>Unable to compile with currently assigned variables. Attempting new predicative cycle...

<What is this?!>

<Vigil cannot compute this situation in an effective manner,> Erebus says. <Apparently the reality software has met its limitations at the event horizon of twin black holes.>

>Executing new predictive cycle.

White light fills your vision. You're blown apart.

>you've taken 37 damage (27/81)

You find yourself in pieces, slowly merging back together. Again.

You're on the opposite side of the river, lying in the mud.

<Shadow! Shadow, can you hear me?>

<...Humanity.>

<The last shard is right there!>

You blink, and roll over. And there it is, sticking halfway out of the mud. You grasp it in your hands.

You've absorbed Silence - that last of your missing shards.

You get to your feet just as Erebus starts toward you from further down the bank of the river.

<He's changing the battlefield, brace yourself!>

<Try to stop him!>

<I'm already doing that!>

What do you do?

it was quite clear that you don't get control until AFTER the Shard Dispersal Program completes.

which is this process right now. in which the programming is supposed to be replaced in the body by Erebus.
>>
>>31669415
>try to get into the river, regenerate HP

Great Heal ourselves.
>>
>>31669531
And we'd do that because? It shits out as many AoCs as it needs to. It's not limited to making only one or something. There have been hundreds of the things, most of them killed by Dave. The Core itself is the problem, the AoC is nothing.

We can't STAY in the river.

It's not just touching the water that gives us faster regen, it's staying in there for X amount of time.

That and Blinking around distracting him are mutually exclusive. a brief moment in the water is worthless.
