>Quest rules/mechanics:
>Do not expect the mechanics of this quest to be perfectly imported from the Fire Emblem games- I'm going with approximations to fit the feel, and ease bookwork on my end, and make it more playable

Combats are settled in a narrative fashion, using d20 rolls. You roll 1d20+ACC, then I compare it to the enemy's AVD, and tell you if it hits. When enemies are attacking, I'll roll privately, unless otherwise noted, and compare it to your ACC, then say if it hits.

Other checks may have me request a d20 roll, and add something. For instance, to climb a cliff, I might request d20+STR, or to ford a river, d20+Def. These may vary, but will be relevant to the situation.

At zero HP, you fall unconscious. Same goes for NPCs. If someone's there to pick you back up, good! You'll be time skipped a bit, maybe lose some healing items, but still be alive.

Off on your own, though, there may be a slight issue with getting back up. However, since I intend to allow you to change perspectives to other characters at some points, it may not be Quest-ending...

As you tumble through the canopy of the burning forest, you are immensely glad you decided to conceal your hair before coming back, mostly due to the numerous branches that keep slashing at your clothes and limbs.

As the ground approaches, you hope- no, pray that the spell cast upon you by Naga will hold. The feeling of lightness that surrounds you as you near the ground relaxes you.

You tuck into a roll, and land on your feet, sparing a moment to look around-

Gouts of flame billow into the air, and you can see a number of bodies dropping from the sky- No, from small versions of the Outrealm Gate!

"By the gods.... What have I done...?" You mutter, drawing Falchion, and glancing around.

By coming back to save the world, you realize, you may have just doomed it earlier... And your friends may not have even arrived anywhere near you, for that matter...

... The bodies seem to be landing mostly in areas on the outskirts of the flames, to your South, but... You can hear sounds of conflict a fair ways to the East, and can see a more graceful, still humanoid, shape gliding from the sky to your North, backlit by the flames...

>North- You need to see if it's one of the others, and regroup...
>South- You can't let those monsters loose! You have to stop them!
>East- Whoever's fighting is bound to need help, especially if these are what you think they are...
>West, away from the chaos- your can't risk letting your mission fail now...

>>
>West it is.

>Writing.
>>
>West

...As much as it pains you to leave people in trouble, your mission is worth more than their lives... Grima's resurrection must be stopped...

You harden your heart, and run West, using your natural agility and rather light frame to navigate around the more treacherous parts of the forest.

Nearing a clearing, you look on in surprise as a trio of those falling bodies hit the ground, laying still for a moment...

...Are they truly dead, or..?

>Circle around!

You draw Falchion quietly, and move around the clearing, using bushes and trees as cover. You already abandoned people to their fate, to try and complete the mission... You shouldn't risk that going to waste...

Finally on the other side, you glance back as their limbs seem to be animating, and they lurch to their feet... Your gut instinct was right....

You keep moving quietly, eventually, with only a copse of trees between you and what you hope to be the plains of Southern Ylisse...

...And through a few branches, you can see a hooded figure, hunched and leaning against a tree, seemingly panting in exhaustion.

Is this... Someone who was caught up in the chaos, and fled?

You charge forwards, swinging your blade at his head, intent to remove it!

He seems to notice you almost as you approach, and drops just as you slash into the tree he's next to, embedding Falchion for a second, and giving him the moment he needs to draw a sword from under his cloak and slash at you, while not lethally or anywhere near so, painfully.

You leap back quickly, yanking your sword free from the tree, as the man begins to laugh.

"So, I was right. You did come this way, Child of Naga..." He says, standing up and looking at you, though his hood is still up.

...You recognize those robes now... Those are... Grimleal...

"And what good instincts you have... To recognize your greatest threat, even with him feigning weakness..."

...He's going to try and kill you. You know this...

"Who are you?" You ask, shifting to a defensive guard... He's dangerous...

He grins, and you can see shadows start to spread around his off-hand... He's at least a mage of some sort, then...

"Why does that matter to a dead girl?" He says, and rushes forwards.

The speed and ferocity of his slash leave you unable to defend adequately, though you manage to at least slow it down before impact... You slide back, glaring at your opponent...

He's not going to answer you, is he? Unless you put the sword to his throat and MAKE him talk!

You level your blade at this foe, steeling your mind and focusing...

Before turning around and sprinting, slashing at a low hanging branch on your way past to at least provide a bit of cover.

You hear curses, then a buzzing noise behind you, and-

A bolt of purple electricity blasts through the air, slamming into the ground in front of you.

"Took you long enough to panic and run." You hear from behind you. A glance back shows the Grimleal member to be pulling himself out of the underbrush, left arm coated in obviously dark magic...

Dammit. There's no cover in this clearing you made it to, either.

You charge forwards as steadily as you can- he's still distracted by the wounds!

Slashing Falchion at him in a diagonal cut, you feel too much resistance- is he using dark magic to strengthen his body? Or....?

He seems to notice you, and begins to laugh.

"Do you know what happened..." He starts, and you hop backwards. He's up to something. "The last time that sword touched these robes?"

...!? He can't mean... He... He isn't really your father's...

He laughs loudly, and his hand begins to crackle with electricity.

You barely have time to start moving before he's next to you, thrusting his electrified arm towards you, spike forming from it and-

"W-who?" You cough as the lightning spike goes through you, and collapse. You... You can't...

Panting, your opponent stands back up, before wincing and clutching his chest.

"Tch. As much as I'd love to stay around and watch you bleed out, I have better things to do in this time." He says, looking down at you. "So die like that dog of a father of yours! Alone and impaled!"

..As things start to fade to black, he limps off, into the forest....

Opening your eyes, you look up into a clear, blue sky, and-

...Can't remember anything but your name.

You shake your head, before sitting up and looking around...

You're in a plain, a rather large battle axe impaled on the ground to your side, and a gem on a chain- your mother's necklace!- on the ground nearby, over a bag of... Potions?.

Your coat seems rather heavy, and as you rifle through your pockets you pull out two books... One obviously a magic tome, the other ... You can tell its enhanced somehow, but not specifically how..

Oh! Maybe that other book is a magic journal!

You leaf through it, finding... Nothing really useful... Maybe it's meant to pass information in a different way?

....

After a few minutes of slamming the book against your forehead, you throw the book.

"That's useless!" You say, crossing your arms in annoyance. "I can't remember anything!"

...Aside from your name, some scattered memories of your mother, and the fact that your father is the Best Guy Ever, nothing.

...Better see what's around, you realize, picking back up that book and starting to look through the near forest...

....

After a few minutes of walking and looking, you hear a groan in a tree above you. Sounds like a guy...

....There's a crunch, a thud of the man hitting the ground, then a groan of pain.

"Gah.... "

You peek out from your position.

...It's a young man, in a... Somewhat armored outfit. Steel greaves. decent looking bracers, an armored tunic.... Small shield carried on his pauldron... Hair a color of blue, that... Somehow reminds you of something... You get a general feeling of nostalgia from him...

Ah, well! Probably nothing to worry about.

He groans and sits up, looking around...

"Alright!" His shout seems strained. "Owain, if that was you who hit me, I swear..."

A fling puts it by his foot, and he pulls himself to his feet.

"Dammit, Owain! Cut it out! If the plan worked, we've gotta figure out where we are!"

...The young man seems to be getting more and more annoyed, and looks up to where he had been, before picking up a stick and poking at something...

You grin, quietly moving to a different spot, and grabbing a fallen branch.

A twist of the wrist later, and it hits him in the side of the head, causing him to let out a yelp, and turn to where you're hiding.

"Got you!" He yells, and the branch spins towards you.

You cry out in surprise as it clips your side, and when you look back towards him, he's right up next to you, a-

Shocked and somewhat scared expression on his face.

Hey op.
I know your quests don't usually get the biggest followings, but I just want you to know I enjoy all of them
>>
>Laugh, introduce yourself

You start to laugh as you stand up, and the young man's face goes pale, and he starts to back up slowly.

"You... You should have seen your face!" You say, pointing at him as he pauses, shuddering.

This doesn't stop you, though, and you step forwards, completely removing his personal space.

"Anyway, nice to meetcha! I'm Morgan!" You smile widely, pushing your face up towards his.

He stumbles backwards, and falls to the ground.

"I... Uh... I'm..." He seems flustered, as he scrambles back up to his feet. "Inigo!"

He seems to get himself under control after a brief coughing fit, and bows quickly.

"A pleasure to meet you, o' radiant daylily." He says, standing up, nary a look of his former surprise and fear in his expression, instead replaced with what appears to be an appraising gleam. "Might I ask why you're in this area, and... Armed as you are?"

>I'm a bandit

You scowl, reaching to grab your axe as you loom forwards again, glancing up to stare him in the eye.

"I'm a bandit!" You say, grinning evilly.

He skitters back again, looking up briefly in worry.

You hold your position for a moment, as Inigo takes a guarded stance...

"Just messing with you~!"

...There's an awkward silence for a few moments, as he looks at you incredulously.

"I really don't know. I woke up in that field over there, with this stuff around me, and then found you." You say awkwardly, breaking the silence. "I can't remember anything else."

...Inigo sighs loudly, looking at you.

"Amnesia then, huh...?" He mutters, before shaking his head. "Ah, well. Maybe you did the same thing as me?"

"Huh?" ...You tilt your head to the side in curiosity.

"I came here... From the future!" He seems to expect some sort of reaction...

Since the Avatar is of Grimas bloodline, he's capable of killing Grima, but that would affect him too, wouldn't that effect Morgan too though?

Morgan lacks the avatars purity, the Avatar was the result of a long breeding program to distill enough of Grima's blood into a single person, the Avatar then borked the whole plan by boinking some random broad without any Grima in her at all

You shrug.

"k." You say, watching his expression fall.

There's another awkward moment of silence...

"So... What was it like?" You ask, noting the visible twitch of surprise Inigo gives. "Maybe that could help me remember something?"

...There's a moment of silence again as he seems to consider it.

"I'd love to tell you!" He says, shaking his head. "But I'm somewhat worried about my sword, which appears to be stuck up there..."

...You look up, and yeah, there's a sheathed sword, slung across a branch up beyond either of your reaches...

Maybe you could help him out?

...

After a few minutes of unsuccessful stick throwing, one of unsuccessful climbing, and an attempt to get thrown up to grab it, you finally got annoyed enough to take out your tome and zap the branch.

Finally rearmed, and looking somewhat disturbed at your use of thunder magic, Inigo sits down on a nearby stump, checking his sword for damage as you watch...

You wait a moment, before he finally seems satisfied.

"So... Who's that Owain you were yelling at earlier?" You ask. Inigo twitches.

"Ah, nothing more than my idiot cousin, who I've been traveling with since before we came back." He says, waving his hand dismissively. "He's been bugging me when I get distracted, poking me with a stick, or something."

Interesting. You file that away.

"Anyway, he's good with a sword, and always seems to be doing something interesting, but he's quirky." Inigo shrugs. "Can't really say I blame him, given how our time was..."

...As you start to speak up, you hear a woman scream from towards the plains. Is there...?

Inigo stands up quickly, slinging his sheath and sword into place.

"Ah! A maiden in peril!" He yells, running off towards the source.
