General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post, and 5 minute voting period for combat votes. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible. There are occasional roles to keep things organic, but mostly it goes by voters choice. Unless specified otherwise, the best of 3 rolls is the result, and rolling high is good.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. Put your own spin on it, suggest dialogue, add an addendum, or anything else. Just because some options specify to write in, doesn't mean that they aren't welcome for anything else. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

The combat system will be going through some revisions. I want to expand the ability to write in new ideas, but avoid constant revotes. Also, holy shit does battling take a long time.

Therefore as a trial, battling will work just like regular voting. There will be a 10 minute period, but instead of voting on individual moves, it will be on general tactics. Rather than doing 1:1 turns like the games, this will allow for more complicated strategies and write-ins for combat instead of obvious right and wrong move choices.

For example:

>Fight aggressively, get up close with X and Y
>Fight defensively from a distance
>Stall him out using A and B
>You have a plan (write-in)
>Swap Pokemon (Specify)

We'll see how this works out and adjust as needed. Suggestions and ideas more than welcome.

Sorry I've been gone so long. I actually have time again and we should be back on regular scheduling.

>>
>>31691503
Well the main drawback I see is, by somewhat abstracting the combat voting, it's only a matter of time until the overly agitated anons that get real mad about suboptimal moves and losses find something to blame you for when Kat loses a fight (or just has a Pokemon faint) and will bitch at you for it, instead of just other anons.
>>
>>31691503
Sure, sounds neat.

Vance runs over to shake your hand. "That was a good match. I think I'll do a little more training before taking on Clair."

You shake back, the put a hand on his shoulder. “That’s a good idea. You have a solid strategy and a good understanding of how to take advantage of your opponent, but you’re predictable too. Try to think of how she can beat you, then come up with a way to deal with that counter.” The words just flow out of you. It feels pretty smart and simple though. Robin and Jeanine are heading over too, but you still have a few seconds.

You put your hands on your hips. “Remember that bet?”

Vance’s face turns white. “I have to ask out Jeanine.”

“Immediately,” you add as you smile like a mad mastermind. Maybe you’re forcing this a bit, but they need it. “Good luck!” You punch him on the arm just as Jeanine and Robin run into hearing range.

Robin gives you both praise over the match. Even Jeanine seems pretty excited after seeing it.

Vance gently grabs Jeanine’s arm. “Can I talk to you for a second?”

She turns to him, her post-game excitement turns worried as she tries to scan his face. “Sure.” She doesn’t stutter though. Her voice is always confident and clear.

Vance gives you a look that says to give him some privacy. Both you and Robin pretend not to see it as you look around the field and anywhere but at him as he tries to get your attention without saying anything. Eventually he gives up.

“Jeanine,” he begins. “We’ve known each other a long time…”

She brushes hair out of her face. “Yeah.

“...And I think we’ve gotten to know each other pretty well.” Vance steps closer. “Look, I don’t know how to say this so I’ll just say it. Do you want to date? I mean, go on a date. With me?”

You and Robin are doing a poor job at pretending not to hear all this as you lean in a little closer. You both try to look over without making it obvious. You’re usually great at this stuff. Oh wow, is Jeanine actually blushing?

The tall, unfairly beautiful blonde looks up at the massive mountain of muscle that is Vance. “Of course I… wait.” Her eyes move from Vance to you and scrunch in suspicion. “Why are you asking me now? What is this?” She’s facing Vance, but you can feel her eyes on you. She knows something is up.

You and Robin are still pretending to not be listening.

You stay out of it. You've already got the ball rolling. They can take it from here. "Robin, doesn't that tree look like a Pokemon?"

She looks at you with uncertain innocence. "What Pokemon?"

Gah! She's no good in these situations. "I don't know, any of them."

Vance steps into Jeanine's view. "Kat and I had this bet, and-"

Jeanine's eyes go wide. “It was a bet?” Her tone is less confident than you’re used to. There’s a pained tone. “You’re asking me out because you lost a bet?”

“Woah, slow down! It’s not like that.”

She throws her hands up, trying to look mad. She puts on a vicious scowl, but you can see her eyes showing a strong hurt. Her breathing is shallow. “Did you, or did you not have to ask me out if you lost?”

Vance struggles. “Well yes, but-”

“Dating me a is a joke. I get it. I’m the sad puppy that follows her childhood crush around and if you lost some stupid bet you had to throw me a bone.” She’s flustered and losing control of her voice. “Why would...” Jeanine sniffs, “Why?” She looks frantically between Vance and you. “I thought we were friends.” She bursts into a run. She can really move too.

Girls!

You like girls. And boys for that matter. But still, girls! Always so dramatic and emotional! It's not like you ever got like this.

Okay, so you did act almost exactly the same when you first asked out Robin. But this is different. You'll think of a reason why later.

You're just distracting yourself so you don't feel so bad about it. Maybe you should have just let it happen naturally. Then again, Vance already chickened out before, and Jeanine wasn't taking any chances either. Still, this went down poorly. Vance doesn't have your oral abilities.

You run behind Vance and give him a push. All it does is slid your feet against the ground, no matter how much weight you put into it. "Go get her!"

"Oh, right!" He starts, then stops. "What do I say?"

"Just tell her the whole thing in context. She's vulnerable."

"Right!" He nods. He looks uncertain but determined.

Robin yells to him too as he starts to take off. "Remember what you told me when I asked about dating Kat."

He half-turns and gives a salute as he keeps running.

You remember Robin telling you how Vance's simple advice got her to give your relationship a chance. You grab her hand and squeeze.

"Let's set up camp."

Robin nods. "Alright. I'll cook!"

As you're both setting things up, you let out all of your Pokemon to check them out. Everyone is tired from a hard day's training. Dan is still asleep, and Destiny is pooped but concious after being knocked out by Ursaring. Devon, Vlad, Trunks, and Nibbles all lazily mope around.

Robin's Pokemon are all tired too. You feel like everyone made a lot of gains today.

You put your large crappy tent up. Huh, you wonder if anyone else bought a tent yet. It's getting dark, so they'll have trouble setting up even if they did.

"Dinner's ready!" Robin announces proudly. It's some sort of stew. It smells... well, it smells.

She gives you a bowl and you sit down.

"Go on, try it!" You hesitate. She explains. "Vance and Jeanine left their stuff here. I don't think he'll mind if I used his spices."

Knowing Vance he won't care about that. If she made this with his ingredients, it's probably alright.

You take a large spoonful into your mouth. It's the foulest thing you've ever tasted that could be called food.

You force yourself to swallow and smile. "M-more, please." You push the bowl forward.

Robin apparently knows something is up. "What's wrong?"

You keep your tone nice to soften the inevitable blow. "Have you tried it yet?" You force another spoonful down. You'd rather swallow pretty much anything else about now. You hope it's not toxic.

She twiddles her fingers. "I wanted you to have the first taste." Robin takes a spoonful, blows on it, and has a small, careful taste. Her face turns green. She looks dejected.

You keep shoveling your bowl down. "Maybe a little more salt and less of the other spices next time."

Robin looks in disbelief as you manage to finish. It's almost growing on you at this point. You're not that unfamilar with terrible food. Still, this is on another level. You're glad to be done.

Your tiny girlfriend pokes her bowl so much that it's probably getting cold. "This is terrible..."

You smile at her. "We can make something else. Together." You have no idea how to cook anything that isn't prepackaged. Even then you're not great.

She returns the smile. "Alright!"

You both enjoy a romantic evening of cooking together after handing the food off the the Pokemon. Vlad loves it, the others have varying levels of disinterest. It's sloppy, messy in the dark, and generally everything you make with the ingredients and resource on hand turns out pretty poorly. You don't know how Vance does it.

You decide to keep the fire bright and stay up late. They'll need this to find their way back.

You ask Robin about her thoughts on the bet. You feel guilty about causing such a mess.

She puts her finger on her mouth. "I don't know. Vance probably needed a push." She thinks some more. "If neither of them were going to ask each other out though, maybe they wouldn't be right for each other."

You didn't expect an answer like that. "Do you think they're right for each other?"

Robin smiles. "Of course!"

"So the bet was a good idea?"

"I think so. Some people need a little push." Robin smiles. You hope Jeanine thinks the same when they come back.

You're about to send Vlad out to scout around when suddenly you notice a green figure perched up on the large rock, watching you. It’s a Pokemon! It’s a Bug type you think, with wings and really sharp looking razor arms. Maybe you’re in it’s territory, maybe it’s just angry, you don’t know. All you know is that it looks ready to attack.

It’s wings slowly stretch out. Light glimmers off the right scythe. It looks sharp. Very sharp.

Robin's gaze follows your eyes. She tenses up when she sees it.

"Devon, Nibbles," you softly call out, keeping your eyes on the large Bug Pokemon. Nibbles approaches you, oblivious to the danger. Devon smells it before he sees it. He takes up a defensive position next to you and gives a low growl at the intruder. "Stay."

It's a good thing you're so practiced at taking things out of pockets without seem obvious. You produce your flute and bring it to your lips.

"Kat..." Robin is reaching for her own Pokeball. She's getting ready to act.

The melody is soft and gentle and carries well in the quiet night air. You keep your eyes glued to it. The Pokemon cocks it's head and watches.

After what feels like an eternity, it lowers it's claws and sits down. It's no longer prepared to fight, but it's not going away either.

You keep playing. You're actually getting really into it. The Pokemon seems to react to haunting melodies, so you focus on that. Robin gets the courage to stand up fully. You can see her holding a Pokeball. It's too dark to tell if it's an empty one or if it belongs to one of her Pokemon.

It blinks a few times as it curls onto the rock. The Pokemon yawns and closes it's eyes. You don't stop playing, just to be safe.

You can see Robin is preparing to throw her Pokeball. Is she going to catch it? Battle it? Maybe she just wants to be ready in case something goes wrong

If you wanna be champion, you gotta have a variety of pokemon and types to climb that ladder.

we can't simply level grind our way to the top in this one.

I don't wanna catch like 400+ pokemon but it is not a sin to have a double digit collection of pokemon.

this "NEVER EVEN THINK ABOUT CATCHING ANOTHER POKEMON" mentality is potentially hobbling the team's overall effectiveness.

You keep playing. You trust Robin's judgement and don't want to risk waking it up by stopping.

Robin takes her time. She looks to you, then to the Pokemon. She gently tosses the Pokeball in an underhand throw. You could bean that sucker in a straight throw easily from where you're at, but she doesn't have your arms or athletic confidence.

The green Bug Pokemon vanishes in a burst of light that's harsh on your night-adjusted eyes. It's not from Robin's Pokeball though. Her Pokeball whooshes through the air where the Pokemon was.

You stop playing in confusion. "Devon, get ready." You don't want to take any chances.

Jeanine and Vance emerge from the darkness. Jeanine is tossing up a Pokeball. "Are you guys alright?"

Jeanine caught it?

Cheesy bullshit tactics are a legitimate strategy and we can base our battles on them always and forever as long as we have some sort of coverage. We just need to be able to deal with a safeguard or something else and we'll be fine. Maybe we teach Devon or Raistlin snatch, so they can ruin defences that might otherwise interfere with our BS.
>>
>>31696666
>Ask about how the two of them are, worry about the Pokemon after

I'm actually a bit annoyed. I wanted Scyther but was willing to give it to Robin since she showed initiative. But this is Jeanine's first Pokemon since the one died, overall good I guess.

Gobble is good about putting in extra stuff that people propose, so it's good to make opinions on a deviation known, whether positive or negative, so that Gobble can have an easier time choosing creative write-ins.

If a write in just get put because the QM likes it, then it wouldn't have too much of a change or be polarizing, if they did, they'd be a shit QM.

Gobble should have a handle on the playerbase and the characters by now (can you imagine if he didn't?)

He wouldn't put a write in that impacts a huge change in the quest without majority consent.

>>
You look at Robin. She lets out a sigh and puts back the other Pokeball she was preparing. There was a lot of tension release in that sigh. You're not sure if she's happy it's over or disappointed in not catching the Pokemon.

Right now your main concern is that she isn't in danger.

You walk over and pick up Robin's Pokeball. "We're fine. How are you two?" The question is intentionally open ended to give them room to answer however they want.

Jeanine answers. "We're good. We have a date." She's trying not to smile, but she's smiling.

Vance is behind Jeanine, he gives a thumbs up. Robin squeals in glee. You almost feel like joining her.

Jeanine's body language is off though. "Kat, can I talk to you for a minute?" She pulls you aside without waiting for an answer. "We need to talk."

You nod and wait for her to say her piece. You want to know where she stands before saying anything. Devon is beside you acting defensive. He's eying the Pokeball in Jeanine's hand. He probably doesn't appreciate other Pokemon threatening you like that.

Jeanine looks uncomfortable. "I made a pretty big idiot of myself running off like that. Vance explained everything. I get what you did. I don't like it though."

>She finally has her date. She should be thanking you
>Apologize for meddling
>Ask about her plans for the Pokemon

Begrudgingly.
>>

Ask her what's the problem. Friends meddle, I don't think this warranties an apology, at least not until we get an explanation. I don't think we went overboard.
>>
>>31697297
>Apologize for meddling

It wasn't really our place to meddle like that, but it really didn't seem like either of them were willing to take the plunge.

"You're welcome! You can thank me by naming one of your children after me!"
>>
>>31697297

We needed the practice anyways, and all we did was give a little push in the direction he was going anyway.

It's all copacetic.
>>
>>31697297
>Ask about her plans for the Pokemon
I'm curious about what she's planning to do with Scyther. Sell it, give it to one of us, or train it herself.

I don't want to apologise for meddling, since the two of them could have used some meddling.
But at the same time I don't want to fish for thank yous, because we mishandled the meddling, and that's bad.
>>
>>31697360
People take offence to other people sticking their noses in things as personal as this. I know when any of my friends try shit like similar to this it makes everything shitty and awkward.
>>
>>31697411
Maybe we should apologize for meddling poorly then? Promise that the next time her love life needs a push we'll be more subtle about our pushing.
>>
>>31697360
Friends meddle, but good friends understand when their meddling is unwanted. Shes a private person, Id be surprised if she wasn't still upset.
>>
>>31697297
>>31697339

And she better damn well treat him right.

"I'm sorry for making it a bet like that," You say grudgingly. "I just thought he needed the push. You know what he's like. I'm sorry for sticking my nose in, but Vance is a good friend and you're becoming one too. I want you both to be as happy as Robin and I."

You can see her heart melt as you explain. "I'm...it's fine. It turned out well. Well, if you forget the part where I acted like an idiot over a guy. Even if it's Vance." She really seems to regret being so vulnerable in front of everyone like that. You can sympathize.

"Are we good?"

She pulls you into an awkward emotional hug. It's funny, you could both do some lewd make-out session easily if your significant others were fine with it and it wouldn't really be a big deal, but an honest, emotional friendly hug is different. You don't pull away though. Instead, you squeeze back.

"We're good," she holds on. "But I'm still upset. I'll have to meddle in your love life as revenge." You can't tell how much of that is a joke.

Jeanine is your friend, and you both feel closer right now. Finally, you both have enough and break the hug.

"What are you going to do with that Pokemon?" You didn't do anything because you were leaving it up to Robin. You're a little annoyed that she just took the catch like that. You can see why someone would do it if she thought you were in danger though.

Jeanine pulls it out of her pocket. Devon is still keeping a close eye on it. He must not like it at all. "I was just going to release it. I know how dangerous Scythers can be. Why?"

"You caught it. Robin tried to catch it. I put it to sleep and was about to catch it. One of us could train it."

Jeanine looks at the ball. "I don't think it should be me."

"Well, you could always give it to me or Robin..."

She holds it tighter. "Well..."

"See! You want to keep it! I knew it!" You pat her on the back the same way you sometimes do to Vance. She's a big girl. "Didn't you have fun training Vance's Pokemon today? You're a trainer, Jeanine."

She still hesitates.

You keep talking. "Professor Fir still has those other Pokemon too that need a good trainer." You're words start to get out before you think. "Are you going to just abandon them because they're used goods? What about catching this Scyther? You should take responsibility." Your issues are leaking.

She carefully scans your eyes. "I get it. Alright. I'll train Scyther, and one, ONE of the Pokemon from professor Fir. I have a condition though."

You smile and put your hands on your hips. "Name it."

"You have to help me name them. My Pokemon get nicknames."

"Creed." It's a simple name. For some reason you feel it really fits.

"Creed..." She thinks it over. "Alright. When we're back in town I'll call up the Professor and ask if I can adopt that Wartortle." She's obviously already thought about this from when you brought it up before. "She was a badass. We'll work on a name for her then."

You'll have to sleep on it. You're pretty tired.

Vance calls over. "You have to try this stew Robin made, it's amazing!" Vance seems to genuinely be enjoying it. No accounting for taste.

You stop Jeanine and explain about the stew before you walk back.

Jeanine sits by Vance. "I'll pass on the food." She yawns. "Us girls are pretty tired. Since we're dating now, it's obviously not proper for us to sleep in the same tent. Guess you'll have to sleep outside."

He looks up at the night sky. "Oh."

She laughs. "I'm kidding. Brush up and get your tush in the tent. Warm up those blankets." She leans against him and grabs his butt. "I want cuddles."

>>Say the same thing to Robin. Jeanine has the right idea.
Thanks for running Gobble, just read the thread. Hopefully I can participate next time!

Finger her under the blankets in the tent while you sleep next to Jeanine and Vance. Make her try to keep a straight face and quiet voice.

Thanks for coming! I was really worried nobody would show up after the long wait between threads

Oh damn! Did I even mention I was Canadian here before? How did you know?
>>

Dropped my trip.
>>
>>31699443
You're canadian?

I guess some stereotypes are true, after all.

Goodnight, Gobble.

Was that not supposed to get out?

It's cool. I don't think that affects anything. I honestly don't mind any of the details I've shared being on here. I just don't mention much because I don't want to be one of those 'personal blog' tripfags everyone hates, and I have a bad habit of talking about myself too much.

But yeah, don't feel like you need to keep anything secret. I was just surprised someone (who I thought was other than you) picked up on my Canadianism. I even spelled words the American way by dropping the excess u in words like labour just because spellcheck says so.

Canadians write smut?
>>
>>31699837
To be fair, I think you've mentioned it once or twice with regard to the job thing. Either way, sorry about the loose tongue man. And I'm glad to have you back.

It's really all good. I share a lot of details on the Alluring livestream chat too. Great crowd there.

Eh his doesn't seem very blog like. If you start ranting about healthcare or bacon we gotta duke it out thought

I need this the first time they showered together

Is this from that girlfriends manga? Good editing anon
>>
>>31699999

Yes it is, Apparently I'm going to edit every fucking scene I get a chuckle outing of thinking about kat and robin, let me know if you want something done

ALso to the anon who joked about turning in lesbians for my paper earlier I think I just might. A full essay on lesbian should be neat
