Previously: After crashing a Sunday service at Choice Hills Baptist church, Asher and company were attacked by military forces, driving them into several degrees of corners through the sudden assault with completely unexpected forces.

After taking a long and tired walk to their destination, Asher meets another platoon on those insane mechanical monstrosities
After destroying and crippling a couple, they get the upper hand and snuff Eshe.

After losing consciousness in a final attack, you're saved by a man of many groping fingers.
Awakening in safety, you meet... Jackie.

Finding Helia with a fatal injury, you take her out for some personal time, meeting a painter in a park by the name of Camille.

Helia is healed with the assistance of an awakened doctor by the name of Eustene. With the most pressing matters solved, Jackie took you out for training after explaining some theories of magic.

On the way back, she "apologizes."

The sun sets on a vegas evening, July 7h

>Objectives

ITS FINALLY HERE ILU DRANZY!
>>
>>31716564
>DRANZY
Huh. I like it.
>>
You and Jackie make it back to her home, slotting her c into the driveway of her cookie cutter middle-class manor. She gives you sidelong smile as she gets out of the car locking it via the key-fob.
The evening air is kind of nice, the heat of the day finally subsides giving you room to breath without inhaling hot daylight.

You check your hands over to make sure there's no residual glow, Jackie suggested getting gloves if there's anything you'd like to do before you all let yourselves get abducted. Well, it's a good idea anyway, even if it makes you look like a weirdo with the summer heat.

Checking in on Helia, you find her well out in one of the upstairs bedrooms. She's still asleep, slumbering soundly. You check her wound, tracing over where it was. You can feel her heartbeat, and she's warm again. Good, very good. You don't want to lose such a loyal minion after all.
Only problem now is reigning in that doctor. How the hell are you supposed to convince him?

Well, there's the whole case that his life is ruined either way. Maybe he'll appreciate the power enough to side with you? A long shot, but it's likely your best angle.

Hot Rod gets back with Noatak, the kid actually looks dead tired. He must've been doing his own training out somewhere.
The injun gives you a nod, Jackie giving him her own coy look.

“Like, finally back? Well, I like, guess it's my turn to keep watch tonight, right?” She leans against the wall, her eyes shimmering that powdery white, like a pure silver dust.

“Yes,” The man sets down his spear on the floor, minding the electronics in the house. It's just a solid piece of wood, not even a metal or stone tip. He must've made it himself or something. “I trained the kid a bit. Will that woman be okay?”
>>
“Ah, about that...” Jackie explains to Hot Rod and Noatak the state of the doctor and Helia. They both seem to come to a similar conclusion that there will be a difficulty in making the doc cooperate, especially if you're going to get captured with him.

“Yeah, I know. We totally need to be careful with him and yada yada. If he screws us I'm killing him, so there's that.”

“You are so quick to come to that Jackie,” The man shakes his head and takes a seat on the floor, leaning against the back of one of the couches in the living room. “Well, do what you want. So long as I can appease my surly ancestors.” He rests his cheek against the palm of his hand, sighing deeply.

You bring Hot Rod into the kitchen to do some extra cleanup to make sure that the place is spotless. The two of you talk about what you've learned, which from him isn't exactly much. He was apparently just doing some physical tests courtesy of Noatak.

Your explanation of the different layers of the “other” world gets him invested though. “Huh, so that's how you've been getting those things you summon. Been wondering that. Nothing's really talked to me.”

You shrug, “They'll probably hit you up sooner or later. Just give it some time.”

“Hey... You think Eshe's there? In that last layer?”

“Of course, I just said that's where people go when they die.”

He shuts up for a moment, thinking about something, “Wonder what it's like.”

“I'd rather not ever know.”

“Well duh. But you know, still gotta wonder, right?”

“Don't need to wonder if we're going to find out eventually.” You stop scrubbing the floor to look at him,”Keep your head on, okay?”

“Right.” He seems more somber than before. What happened?

Everyone has some dinner together to fill your bellies save for Helia whose indisposed. Jack takes some food down to Doctor Eustene. You retire to one of the rooms, laying in a cushy bed, staring up at the ceiling.

You need more power. Especially if you're going to break out... Or perhaps you could find a way to the place with pyromancy? If you could figure out that trick that Lucifer pulled...

But I'm not sure what sort of creature we should summon
>>
>>31716745
I like this one. Can we do this one Dranzy? c:
>>
Something I was wondering.

What's to stop us from making a shade of a living person? It's not like it's their actual soul, just an imprint.

We should totally be able to go down to the basement and summon up a not-doctor by attempting to make a copy.
>>
>>31716811

Ifrit are immune to any non magical weapon and have superhuman strength.
>>31716745
For her awakening we should bring her artwork alive to kill her.
>>

Before we summon an Ifrit, we should do it where there's a ton of water.

Also, I'd feel more comfortable with it if we held off on it until we ranked up summoning.
>>
>>31716919
>Ifrit are immune to any non magical weapon and have superhuman strength.
Why not try something lesser than demons of Islam?
I would prefer some beast-creatures out of polytheistic religions. much safer.
This time something that isn't gostile to humanity
>>
>>31716889
I'd love to start doing that. Whenever we find someone or awaken someone who has a really cool starting spell, making a shade of them would be a good idea.

just make sure to include "no manifesting unless I tell you to and don't disobey orders." clause in the contract.
>>
>>31716985
Ifrit have been known to be pretty friendly with humans.
>>
>>31717075
If I don't get my lore wrong Iblis was banished by Allah because he didn't bowed before humans.
>>
>>31716985
How about a doppleganger?

The contract would be fairly simple. "You are to infiltrate the anti-magical organizations within the government, using whatever means you deem fitting, and relay any information on their acitivities back to us." Add in the usual 'don't work against me or my allies' schpeel, and give him free reign to do as he wishes within those restrictions.
>>
We can try to summon the demon Agares. Who is known to be extremely friendly to humans. He also has the head of a crocodile.
>>
>>31717113
The Jinn are prideful not evil.
>>
>>31717148
We are at the moment on the level to safely summon and contract unnamed "races" of creatures.
>>31717141
How about some elves/fae from Norse or Celtic Mythology
>>
Alright, divining.
>>
You sit up in the bed, unwilling to sleep just yet. Lucifer showed you this and taught you the magic with that kiss of fire.

It's time to see what else it's capable of.

You tap into your power, feeling the slightest tingling sensation as you intuitively conjure two flames before fusing them into one, opening a window not to the other world, but to another scene elsewhere in the world.

Your thought at first focus on Camille, and the waitress, Cassie... But then something obstructs them, distracts you. Causing you to be the unwitting witness of something else...
>>
A tepid day in a country across the sea, a mountain looms over a little town with old and new buildings alike of oriental architecture and post-modernism respectively. The people of this quiet little town go on about their daily business of small transactions for dinner this evening, children and teens walking home from school, a few taking the lakeside road for a more scenic route. Some of the teens here would use this as a spot to try to get closer to a girl they like, or vice versa.

It's a quiet place with little of note, remaining largely untouched by the riots that had plagued the larger inner cities of great trade and boardroom industries. A few bigger businesses have made some stake here and there, expanding into new territory and networking people together. This is what they called it, and this is the pretense that three strangers had come here for.

They were distinguished by the fact that their eyes were not almond, of three different skin tones, and all in all- not Nipponese.

A man of dark skin with a short haircut, almost a military buzz, if not a little longer disassociate himself with the service and the stubble of a goatee coming back in. He would have worn something more functional and easy to move in than this monkey suit if he had the choice, being comfortable in an assault vest and combat pants. His eyes bear a thousand yard stare when he's not focused on something, his thoughts elsewhere, only visiting this world when he looks to his companions, and more specifically, the woman amongst them.
>>
>>31717434
Here comes the clone mom again...
>>
>>31717465

She was short. Not a midget necessarily, though short if you were using the high fives or flat six as a standard for height. Her hair auburn, short and curly and her skin fair and pale. She'd look to the people in passing upon the train, reading into them, trying to understand more about them.
With sense in mind for her dress, she went with women's suitclothes, black and orderly. If she was to draw attention, it'd be attention that granted her some semblance of authority.

She wouldn't look at her companion as his eyes betrayed some of his thoughts, she knew what he was thinking and wouldn't humor him on it. Later she would discuss at length with him this breach in professional etiquette. She'd need to keep cool and calm about it or else he might get the wrong idea. In truth, she'd rather work farther away from him due to the things twisted up in his soul. Victims, still screaming the echoes of their death, monstrosities whispering for more and the man that somehow functions as a human being despite the fact.

The other man's aura isn't any better either. He gazes at the men in passing, almost licking his lips as he smiles a bit crudely, keen on any that might look particularly acceptable. This one wears a fine suit that might denote him as either the most important or most professional of the three.
Kalvin Klein black dress shoes polished to a finish, silver cuffs to suit so black and well tailored that it seems to radiate luxury.
For as much of a pervert as he is however, there's something more to his mind when he's not occupied by the behinds of the more attractive japanese men.
>>
The luxuriously dressed man is put back into his less scandalous thoughts by the woman clearing her throat “We're getting off at the next stop.” She says, standing up, ready to separate herself from the proximity of the monster and the pervert.

The monster's eyes linger on her rear before trailing up to her face and looking away, ahead and out of the window, “About time. It should be somewhere on the mountain, right?”

“You're the one that said it was here.” The well-dressed man stands up as well, curling his fingers around one of the vertical poles of the train, taking it as an opportunity to look at another man. His lustful making one down the line visibly uncomfortable.

The monster stares ahead, his eyes glancing towards the woman, “And Saph is the one that verified. As it is.”

The train stops and the three people leave, the monster passing by the others to be the first to exit, his hand flinches to take hold of the woman's hand, ceasing only with mind of her power.

It's best that he doesn't, for her sake.

Saph's eyes glaze over as she ignores the monster as he passes. It's best that she doesn't look directly at him, lest she be tainted with all the lives that he's taken. Just a monster in human skin. Not to say that most people, let alone herself are any better.

Just that he's the one with the power to realize his inner self.

Her eyes flicker around, as though she's aware that she's being watched.

With a sapphire-blue flash through the fire, your vision ends.

Who the hell were those people?

Dran said we can make shades of living people.

I asked earlier in this thread.
>>
>>31717735
It's Dran though.
Saying that we can try it doesn't mean it will not horribly backfire
>>
>>31717785
Why would it horribly backfire? Shades are just copies of the soul. Like pressing energy over a soul so that it makes a mold you can fill with more energy.

Worst I can think of happening is that we have to make physical contact with him to work it and he freaks out and punches us because it feels funny.
>>
>>31717870
Worst I can think of is massive burn and we go unconscicous loosing every chance to blow up the hower dam.
Also I don't think that working with shades is very feasible. Especially if the person the shade is modelled after may joins our team
>>
>>31717942
The only way it would be massive burn is if he decides to put tons of effort into fighting us. It would be really obvious that he's doing that if he does it, and we would stop. As for the shade itself being on the same team as the originator, yeah I guess that could be a bit weird.

>>
>>31718039
The shade itself won't realize what it is if we keep it at level 2 (3 also I think?). And even if it does get mad, all it would have is healing magic if we make it now. That's it.

As for the real Doc's reaction, well hopefully he'd be more reasonable?

Something weird.

Are we summoning a seelie or unseelie?
>>
>>31718608
I have a feeling that divination will end up being important in the future.

As for the Fae, we aren't going to be getting anyone too powerful, but they hopefully give us some more utility, nature magic for one would be helpful, maybe they can forge binding contracts that we can use on other Mages or mortals, and they'll likely be useful in a social or distracting capacity.

Though we shouldn't trust them one bit, they'll obey the letter of the contract, but find loopholes. Finding a way to align our interests with theirs is a good idea, it might help out. Possibly we can use our influence as a summoner to affect their reputation and good name over on their side of the veil so they have a vested interest in our survival and success.

You rub some of the burn from your hands as you go downstairs. It doesn't really help much, but it puts your mind at ease.

You keep thinking about the people in that vision. That woman, Saph. She saw you. She you and canceled your magic. Or did she? Maybe you did it yourself. Heh. There are still a great many things you don't understand about magic and the state of this world.

You rummage through the the kitchen drawers, looking for something made of iron. Derp, there's nothing but steel and silver in here.

You sigh, looking around, trying to find something proper for what you have in mind. You'd like to summon a faerie. But if you're gonna deal with them you'd like to at least be able to threaten.

You spot a bottle of salt sitting in the cupboard and stare at it for a moment. Huh, maybe you can at least do a little something else. Salt is useful for drawing a boundary if you remember correctly. At the very least the fairy won't slip out.

With the container of salt in hand, you push the table away to make room for the summoning, pouring the salt in a circle.

You feel Donner watching you, curious about this action as he lingers by you in the sight layer. “If it goes berserk I permit you to kill it.”
[Of course, summoner.] The monster agrees without hesitation.

You rub your hands together and begin concentrating, unsure exactly of what to summon with concern of the fairy.

Oh well, might as well wing it.

You breath magic into the circle, isolating it from everything outside first...

>Ward learned. A cantrip used by pure mana manipulation to create a barrier to contain magical beings or effects. Wards have a finite strength and duration.

You grasp an image, and speak out words that come to you.

“I beseech a child of the fae, to come beyond the veil at my beck to play.
Mayhaps you do as I say, Mayhaps you shall have your way
Step not beyond not my established domain
Do so with an answer in pain.

The air churns and twists itself at your word, forming a pure summoning body at the cost of a good deal of pain wrought from your nerves.

A head forms with black hair flowing into heavy curls, gleaming red eyes like bitter rubies, pale white flesh and fang-like teeth. From there flows a dress twisted of nether-shadows, billowing from her body and twisting the air as it sparkles with a purple flames.
Her hands and feet are where she loses a humanoid appearance. Pale flesh ends in long black nails, shimmering like obsidian glass, and feet that are long and warped like the smashed feet of a ballerina.

Upon her back are two wings that drink in darkness to exude a lustrous shimmer of lavender lights.

She smiles viciously, her alabaster fangs creating their own light as her body is still unnatural, so magical in origin.
“Greetings summoner...” She curtsies, her voice low and intrigued, a grating quality to it as though it were water run through gutters. “I am Nora the Fae. Unseelie court.”
Her smile vanishes and she stares at you with her ethereal red eyes, that actually send tingles of panic shivering down your spine.
“As for the game I would name...” she licks her lips with a black, serpentine tongue. “I would be thrilled to see you dine on the flesh of your own kin, summoner.

“As would I,” Donner chuckles as he manifests within the circle to your surprise. He's less solid than when he possesses a body. It's more like he's still in the other world, but visible in this one.
The monster looks down to you, shaking his head back and forth to move his mane and horns.

“I did not say for you to manifest Donn-”

“My, my, who is this handsome beast?” Mora chuckles herself, like a high pitched clucking sound as she flits around Donner, examining him.

You feel your lip twitch,”Donner, I did not ask for you to manifest, and Nora.” You reach out for the fae, though think better of it after she suddenly hisses at you, her glowing brighter.

Also would we be able to summon Valkyries?
>>
>>31720296
Pretty much.

I'm trying to figure that out myself. Valkyries seem to favor honor and warriors a lot. Would be pretty testy.
>>
Donner swipes at the fae, capturing her in his long, gaunt fingers. “You will not harm the summoner.”

“He never said I couldn't, let me eat him if he won't eat a brother or sister!” The mad little faerie squirms in Donner's clutches, snapping her teeth at you,”Or perhaps I should eat him or a child if he would ignore my game!”

Donner looks at you, his own eyes like dying red coals in his skeletal mask, “You shall not eat my summoner, he is mine to defend and torment,” Donner chuckles heartily, a hollow empty laugh.

You stare at the faerie for a moment, considering your options. A viscous little creature, though she could be good for infiltration. Killing too if her size does not hinder her power.
“My family is dead. I have no kin to devour. Name a different game.”

The faerie stops struggling, rolling her eyes as she seems to think of something else, “Then how about you kill someone! That could be fun, really fun, right? But no, you need to be artsy about it. Killing them without having them scream and grovel and beg for death would be no fun. Make them work for it! Cut off their toenails and skin their feet to make them crawl. Lay out tacks all around, bit a bit made of fishing line in their mouth and lead the-” The little faerie smiles wider and wider with a more manic expression as she rattles off torture methods.

“What would you say if I've done some pretty interesting tortures recently?”

The fae stops talking, her eyes locking on you, focused now and interested, “Story-time.”

You recount your torture game of the couple that were fucking upstairs from your motel. How you played a game with them and killed the man off, she asks for you to extrapolate the details, their faces, the pain and so on. You then follow that up with a colorful retelling of the Choice Hills church and the massive slaughter that took place there

Make sure it's clear that these tricks are not to lead back to us, or show overt hints of supernatural involvement. And to generally try to keep the body count to a minimum, it draws attention.

Mention that if she knowingly violates the intent of the rules we set up to our detriment we may have to reconsider letting her work with us on torturing people.

>>
>>31721622
>"If I told you, you wouldn't be able to summon me."
Ok, so she's actually more powerful than our summoning level would allow and she's using a wimpier generic form so that more summoners have a chance of bringing her out.

Making this contract would get us an early inroad to a high-tier summon. Pre-contracted for when we actually have the power to summon her at full-strength.
>>
>>31721673
this is important.

>>
>>31721699
this one is perfect. She cannot possibly wind herself out of that vow than
>>
>>31721622
Well, isn't that interesting.

I'm guessing that she is a reasonably powerful Fae who we couldn't fully summon, what we're currently dealing with is a fraction of her, and if we knew her name we couldn't summon her anymore because it'd be too big.

My only question about this is if Nora counts as an actual name for the purposes of our contract or not. But just to be safe we should probably get it on something more concrete than a not really true name.

So, I say take the offer, it could really benefit us in the future, or it could be amusing.

You shake the Fae's little hand by the extension of a finger, she scratches at you, drawing a droplet of blood that hangs from one of her black claws. Licking the scarlet drop as you wince in pain, she seem to purr,”It is a deal then.”

You hiss, sucking on your finger. You suddenly feel your nerves ignite with power as it's drained from you and into the fae. “I will take the power that we agreed upon. You are bound to our contract as much as I summoner.” She smiles, giggling as her form stabilizes further, solidifying even as it looses a part of her ephemeral glow. The burn causes your sight to blur and arms to fall limp, twitchin in pain.

You've never boosted a summon so quickly before... And the burn from Pyromancy hadn't left you yet either.

“Happy to be of service, summoner.” She wrenches herself from Donner's grasp, breaking free with a wave of her hand. She floats over to you, her wings fluttering in your ear as she lays a small kiss upon your cheek. “Now, if you would pretty please break the circle, I'm going to go and play.”

Rather not giving any further of a shit tonight, he kick the salt circle open, releasing the ward. Donner's image immediately fades, and Nora gives you another peck before flying off into the night.

“Call me if you need to kill anyone, summoner!” She laughs on her way out, slipping through the window as a shadow and like that on into the night.

A more noble soul may fear what they've unleashed, for you though? You just want to go to bed.

She's cute, loyal, and doesn't mind being our minion. And ought to be pretty comfy to sleep with, Jackie would totally steal all the blankets or something along those lines.

Besides, it's good to spend some time with our loyal minion and both reinforce her loyalty and get a good chance to check up on her and make sure she's not going too crazy. We don't want another Fara on our hands and that means preemptive action is a good idea, fixing problems before they get our of hand.

Thoughtforms are kind of inherently insane in some way.

The whole point of awakening is to break someone to the point that they figure out they can alter reality.

Sanity is a fleeting thing. And Insanity expresses itself in different ways.
Asher's probably the most insane character so far, next to Jackie. Or the "Monster."
>>
>>31723263
>next to Jackie
[worry]
>>
>>31723096
The problem is already there. Faraesque behavior and the single most blatant crush/hero worship case ever for us. And we're planning on fucking Jackie the moment we get a good chance.

So, if we say we're not interested she's not going to take that well, and if we string her along it'll probably eventually end in her snapping. If we actually show her attention and affection we can hopefully keep her pointed at our enemies without too much trouble.

Yes, she's crazy, and requires some maintenance, but that's the price for having a minion who would die for you.

You truck upstairs and open the door to Helia's room. You see her move underneath the sheets, shifting onto her side. She must be feeling a lot better now. Hell, without that damn hole in her chest. You stand at the door for a bit, before going back out to turn off the hallway light, coming back in. You shut the door and mind your step, parting the sheets to slip in beside her.

She's facing you, her eyes closed, gentle steady breathing. You can see her auburn hair by the moonlight filtering in. You touch her cheek with the back of her hand and feel over the faint line from where her glasgow used to be.

You've walked with her for the better part of a month with her, and she likes you even if it's bad for her. Hell, she might be bad for you too if you actually get around to caring about her.
You almost turn over, to look away from her, but you feel a hand creep over your chest. “No, please...” She mumbles. A look reveals that she's still fast asleep.

You decide to sleep facing her after all, giving her a little kiss on her forehead before relaxing against the coolness of the pillow. It's not about love, just making sure she's loyal. Her hand rests against your upper arm, gripping against your sleeve gently.
Yeah, it's not about love. You're not good at loving. You slide an arm under hers and rest it upon her hip.

She wiggles closer to you. You rest your head against hers.

It's really not about love.

You dream of nothing specific. You expected to be contacted by Lucifer... Perhaps you haven't fully “saved” the doctor yet?

Morning comes and everyone gets breakfast, Jackie leading the conversation with the plans for today.

“Alright, like, first. We're totally going to do some magic training to whip you losers into shape,” She passes a finger over Hot Rod and Helia you notice, she skips you. “After that we need to get our shit together and stage a situation where we would like, awaken. I've got a lame-o idea, but I'm open to suggestions.” Her eyes fall on you,” Would need us looking like, totally innocent.”

“So like what? We get into a car accident or something?” Hot Rod says, his mouth full of pancake.

“Yeah, or a major explosion, like something that would hurt a lot of people. We could awaken others as a cover and get carted away ourselves. It would also explain Asher's eye if we opened it back up.”

You get chills from that one,”Hey, couldn't it just be a pre-existing injury?”

“They could like, check medical records. Speaking of which, we can't have you be like, identified kay?” She points to the three of you,”We need to destroy your identification. Asher, you can burn it. And get rid of that cash when it's time. We totally don't need them like, wondering how a guy with one-eye and no I.D. Has like, a couple grand in pocket.”

You raise your hand,”I got some things to add in here.” You look around, ensuring that you've got the floor. “First thing, I contracted another summon. If you see a little black fairy around she's mine... I don't know where she is right now.”
“Second thing, I say we go big. I say that we blow up the hoover dam for our disaster.”

Jackie's eyes widen at that point, Hot Rod's jaw drops, and Helia just kind of smiles, shoveling more food into her mouth. Noatak leers at you from across the table, “Interesting.” His word.

“Like, Oh-Em-Gee. That sounds totally radical!” She smiles, grinning like an airhead before it vanishes, her somber side coming out, “But do you have a plan for that? Magic alone will take a shitload out of us.”

“Well, I was hoping we could figure something out. Between Noatak's sabotage, and whatever you and I can do I thought we'd have a pretty good shot.” You put an elbow on the table, slathering your pancakes in more syrup. “What else can you do besides conjuring up a little wind anyway?”

Jackie smiles at that. Hot Rod's eyes looking a bit worried at her cruel expression, “Uh, I remember seeing a vision where you were standing on a bunch of blood-less bodies.”

“Like, wounds caused by vacuum. Totally high-speed pressurized air that like, totally collapses and carries with it whatever else is like, in the way.” She reaches down, bringing one of her guns up and placing it on the table, “This is like, totally for show. Like, when I use my most basic magic it sounds like a gun. That's the secret. They think I need bullets.”

Her most basic magic?

She uses a sonic vacuum as her most basic magic? You evaluate yourself on that point. The best you can accomplish is your Devil's grin. You can only fire that off ten times and that's with lowered power and an incantation... “How many times can you shoot?”
>>
>>31724458
>The best you can accomplish is your Devil's grin. You can only fire that off ten times and that's with lowered power and an incantation...
How many times ya think we could do it if we leveled up Aero? We have the points to do it.
>>
“Let's just say,” She pops some pancake into her mouth,”I forget to reload.” Swallowing,”But I can totally get behind this hoover dam thing. I'll think about it, kay?”

You get up from the table,”Alright, I've got some business to take care of.”

“I need to train you.” Jackie glowers, suddenly not looking all that amused anymore.

“Save it for later, I'll be back by ten, or eleven at the latest. Gonna go recruit a potential.”

Helia raises her hand,”Oh, I'll come with.” She hops out of her seat, halted by Jackie's glare,”And you need training the most.”

“We can go when I get back. It's good that she comes too, it'll look more natural this way.”

Helia joins you, following after as Hot Rod looks between the two of you and Jackie. Throwing his arms up at the woman's glare,”Hey, I'm happy to stay. We can start early, yeah? Stop back here around the time they come back?”

You head outside, catching an early bus to the downtown strip. You have a hunch that you'll find Camille back at that park...

On the way, you notice an odd increase in the number of accidents on the side of the road. No people, just cars waiting to be towed. Must've happened in the middle of the nigh- Oh.
You feel your lips tugging into something of a smirk. Wow. She works damn fast.

You get off the city bus and walk to the park. Too early for most of the people, but you do see the same baglady sitting off to the side, the end is nigh hobo's gone. Likely got hit by a government party van or something.

And there, painting in front of the fountain is Camille. Today she's wearing a white smock, no beret, letting her short blonde hair cover her ears.

That's why I included the "use fountain to waterboard" option.
>>
>>31724705
Yeah, but I want to chat her up. Let her know we're doing this for the best.
>>
>>31724705
Let's do it.
>>
>>31724716
She doesn't even have to know it's you. You can run up to her when she awakens and pull her out.
>>
>>31724737
Well... It's too late now.
>>
>>31724692
>"Hey, Camille...you wanna try and paint something REALLY amazing?"
>Summon Nora
>"Nora, Camille's gonna make a painting of you, okay? So you gotta stand reeaaal still."
>Painting happens.
>"Why isn't the painting of her moving?"
>Imply that Nora might not be happy.
>"You know, her contract with me does not currently protect you. I'd make that painting start moving...or else she might get upset."
>Nora starts torturing her
>"Now Nora, you know killing the mundane outright isn't allowed..." Casual and all.
>Nora Awakens Camille by making the painting come to life.
>>
>>31724737
That's brilliant.
>>
>>31724737
But it seems like just having the fountain attack without giving the speech would have lower chances of working.
>>
>>31724757
that assumes Camille knows a lot of things she has never even heard of

stick to the hugbox
>>
>>31724737
Could we do this right now?
>>
>>31724801
We can tell her as Nora gets to work trying to make her do magic.
>>
>>31724737
This sounds like you just want to bait us into using magic in public and getting Jackie pissed at us for drawing attention early.
>>
>>31724737
Too much attention. I'll pass.
>>
>>31724829
Or as she's painting.
>>
>>31724737
We shouldn't use magic in public
>>
>[1] Let Helia know what's going on, and hit up Camille to get her in private.
>[2] "Remove" the baglady. Make a wild fountain attack Camille and play the hero.

Wait... Is Helia still deaf? It seemed like Doc didn't have a "fix everything" power. It looked like he had to actually know what he was doing, and he was only fixing the chest-hole. Not the ears.

>>31724914
Yeah she is.
>>

?
>>
>>31724960
Illusion currently uses water as a catalyst. You could potentially throw and alter your voice with more advanced control.
>>
>>31725034
Should it even be a Primary Spell, then? It's more of a Hydrokinesis subspell than anything.
>>
>>31725067
I'll fix it. Meant to insinuate that with training it can get its own subspells,
>>
>>31725067
Or an Enchantment. It's closer to Materia Firma than anything in how it started out with Water-only and needs to rank to Adept+ before we can to other stuff with it.
>>
>>31725083
Oh. Well in that case I think I agree with >>31725094

Enchantments can get their own subspells, right?
>>
You let Helia know what you're doing, only to realize that she's still deaf. You take out the tracphone and let her know, telling her to sit mostly out of sight.

She grips your shirt as you start to walk away. You turn back to her, and she waddles up to you, looking down for a moment. She looks up, and rocks onto her toes to kiss your cheek before turning around, letting you go.

You stand there for a moment, watching her walk away. What the hell. You squeeze your eye shut. Why's she gotta make this any harder?

You waltz right up to Camille, getting real close from behind while peering over her shoulder at her work. She's painted the fountain, though added dolphin figures that aren't actually there, and extrapolated by painting a couple before. The one on the left looks like you with both eyes, but the one on the right... It's a blonde woman. Huh.

Perhaps you left an impression?

You back off, still unnoticed as she's engrossed in her work. You clear your throat, making her just about jump out of her skin. “Inspired, are we?”

You walk around as the painter soon realizes the source of the voice, quickly casting a stroke across the couple in the painting, “Ah, yes. But there's just something, ah, wrong with it, like there's something missing-”

“That's a nice splash of red,”You point at the red streak that was just made.

“Oh yes, for, ah, colour. You know, a bit of rouge.” She stares at the painting, laughing nervously as you finish circling around.

“That was me, wasn't it?” You look directly at her face, a deep blush present.

She seems to resign, “Oui. I liked the sketch yesterday. I wanted to see if I could paint it. Though I chose a blonde instead of auburn...” She sighs, staring at the red streak with no small amount of dismay. “Terrible.”

Ok. I got an idea. We could totally say that the sketch had grown on us also and we'd be down for having it commissioned in oil. We could go for coffee or something to talk it over.

You walk around to stand beside Camille, looking over the painting. Well, it looks good to you, but then again, you're no critic. Well, time to put the moves on. You rub at your chin before giving her a thoughtful look,”You know, I was looking at the sketch and it kind of grew on me. If you're still inspired, I wouldn't mind having it or another commissioned in oil.”

Camille's mouth droops open, her eyes going wide with surprise. “Oh, well, I... Monsieur, you are too kind. Much too kind. It is, well, it is expensive, you know.”

“I've got the extra money, we can discuss it over coffee. You know, how you're going to paint me like one of your french girls.

Camille blushes, looking away a bit shyly and finally shutting her mouth before looking over the ruined painting. “W-well, I had to throw this away or find some way to fix this unsightly splash of rouge. W-would my place be okay? I haven't much got money to spare for a cafe, and we can take care of both in each other's company.”

“Each other's company?”

“Oh, ah. Monsieur, I am sorry.” She laughs nervously again, obviously a bit frazzled. ”Umm, Monsieur, will you follow my car?”

“I actually got here by walking. Enjoying the sights.” You raise an eyebrow,”Mind if I hitch a ride?”

“Ah, not at all.” She looks around, searching for something as she scans the park,” And where is your, ah, friend?”

“Oh, she's fine. Just at home. I'll be texting her when I'm done discussing our painting...” You take out your phone, pretending to text as you lie.

It isn't long before you're in the artist's studio. The car smelled like paint and was full of clutter, though not inherently dirty.

I have to agree with you. I don't like that the focus seems to constantly be shifted off of magical terrorism and over onto GIRL TROUBLES.

Same thing keeps happening in AoPH with the husbandos, but iirc Dran's response more or less equated to "fuck your sperging about fighting and upgrades, this is all just my vehicle to write the story I want to write". Which isn't really wrong, but it kinda feels like I've been baited into a teen-romance drama sometimes.

Oh well.

once jackie is no longer considering shooting him any more than the rest of us.
>>
So what kinds of little spells should we make? Jackie has her gun thing. It's actually really clever since it appears mundane at first and the gun actually acts as a focus to reduce burn even if it's not really doing anything else.

We don't really have anything like that...
>>
>>31726966
We could get a squirtgun and use that to shoot deadly water bullets.

That would have the advantage of not starting shit if someone finds it on us. We could play it off as our kid brother putting it in our bag or something.
>>
>>31727024
Jackie would mercilessly mock us if we started carrying around a fucking squirtgun.
>>
Taking care of the Hoover Dam is going to be a bitch. It's a massive piece of engineering, and trying to simply brute force it probably won't work. Though if we manage to create one point of failure the rest should be a lot easier.

There should still be a decent amount of moisture within the dam itself since even though the concrete was unusually dry there was a lot of grout used to bind blocks together and fill in pipes that were previously used to water cool the structure during construction.

Somehow introducing sulfates or sulfuric acid at key locations or doing something magic so the water acts similarly might work, the hard part is actually getting it there. As part of the reaction sulfuric acid has with concrete it'd break the calcium hydrate bonds that provide concrete with much of its strength, and since it's an exothermic reaction we may be able to cause fissures at certain points due to thermal expansion.
>>
>>31727218
>trying to simply brute force it probably won't work
>probably
The thing could take a nuke, probably, and not fall. The only way we could brute force it is if we had Expert rank Alchemy. Or Divine rank Hydro or something, but that's a ways off.

Anyway, I like your idea. I hope that Materia Firma can make water act like sulfuric acid. That would be handy.
>>
I want to summon this guy.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ostanes

>Legendary alchemist
>Also dabbled in some necromancy
>Did some divination with water and air (Hydromancy and Aeromancy)
>Also used weird shit like axes and other things to divine
>Some sort of something with rock and plant magic. Not exactly geokinesis / florakinesis, but it's something weird.

He seems like a dude we'd want to talk to.
>>
>>31726160
Late to the party, but I guess I want to say that I like the new summon. I hope she doesn't go the way of Fara and die.
Yes, guy who always goes on about how much better than everyone else you are, Fara wouldn't have happened if everyone wasn't retarded. We'll git gud eventuallynot really.
>>
>>31727317
Yeah, even the most brute forcey ways to do it if we want it done in any practical feasible way will take a while and rely on slow weakening or change. Like using Earth magic to make a gap between the canyon walls and the dam, serious erosion there would be bad for the dam since the canyon walls wouldn't be supporting the weight of the water.

Another possibility is to freeze and melt the water content in the grout layers in a contained area, the expansion and compression from that seems like a good way to cause degradation or expand existing fissures, if the sulfur thing works out this would be a good way to further destabilize it.

Jackie probably has some tricks up her sleeve that can be turned towards this.

Given the size of the dam we'll probably have to spend a decent while blending in with all the tourists slowly preparing the dam.
