Rules changed last thread, brush up if you think you need too.

“Ready to go?” Hitomi inquires plainly and tiredly.

You nod absentmindedly and turn back to Kaito as you put out your cigarette and hide it behind your ear. Kaito gives Hitomi and Hanako a nod before turning to you and patting you on the shoulder.

“Take care of yourself,” he smiles, “And fuck anyone who gives you shit for being who you are or who you want to be,”

“You burnt your flag, you can stop trying to be everyone’s big brother. Just have a safe ride home, Kaito.” you crack your neck and smile as he walks up to his bike and begins walking it off into the night. Later, when you’re alone you might tell him about what’s going on...all of it.

Sure, you told Hitomi about Mori Micro industries buying the hospital, but you consider telling him about everything else. About the powers.

“Good night, Tsubasa,” Hitomi leads Hanako past you.

Hanako is unsteady on her feet. Obviously still drunken and perhaps even a bit sick. She keeps weakly protesting and pulling against her sister’s hold citing that they need to wait for you.

“Tsubasa, can you explain her ramblings?”

>My apartment isn’t habitable tonight, Hanako offered me a place to crash.
>Guy shot up my door, they’re processing the scene tonight and Hanako offered me a place to crash.
>No idea, but can I crash with you guys tonight? My apartment is getting a surprise perforation and needs to air out.
>No idea, see you later.

Well, this looks like a consensus to me, so I guess being late to the thread isn't too bad.
>>
“Guy shot up my door, they’re processing the scene tonight and Hanako offered me a place to crash.” you sigh and fall in line beside her.

“I’m sorry, what did you just say?”

“Guy sho-”

“I understand that, why wait until now to bring it up?” she seems upset.

“I didn’t want to ruin the party,” you sigh.

Hitomi marches up to you, dragging Hanako being her. The inebriated girl groans for her to slow down in exhausted and dizzy. The still functioning girl snatches the cigarette off of your ear and throws it to the ground before staring at you angrily before calming down.

“We’re taking the long way, so Hanako has a chance to sober up and you have a chance to air out. Grandfather hates the smell of tobacco,” she drags her sister ahead of you and you fall into step.

“YaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaY,” Hanako cries weakly, “sleep ove-”

She chokes briefly on a hiccup and returns to listing behind her sister. You catch up with them, annoyed at the superficial loss of your cigarette.

2 Successes. DC met. Writing in a bit.
>>
Falling into a tense silence, the three of you walk a few blocks before Hanako begins singing softly and off key. You turn again to HItomi.

”So, how does your grandpa feel about me since the news came out,”

“He was concerned by our association at first, until Kaito offered your past to us and him,” she begins as Hanako comes up behind you and hugs you with her free arm.

“He was all grumpy about it, and worried about me being a heartbroken maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiden,” she giggles, “Shhhhh,”

She tries to bring her finger to her lips as she tries to shush you on some unexplained secret. As the exchange continues, you become acutely aware of your surroundings. Beyond the three of you, there are six distinct perceptions on you. On the low rooftops beside you, someone is keeping pace with your group and watching. One hundred feet back another figure is following you, it feels familiar. An incalculable distance away, you feel four presences observing you coolly.

Those four are aware you have noticed them. They are familiar. They are waiting. In this moment, be they real or the product of your imagination, they are unimportant. The two closer sets of eyes, who are they?

>Quicken your pace with the others and find cover.
>Activate everything is perfectly fine and pull over to the side of the pedestrian road, and go investigate.

You are 2 minutes late, but you break the tie.

So. I will be writing shortly.

>>31741708
in my defense, I made the 3 plan
>>
Leaning in close to Hitomi, you whisper, “We’re being followed. I’m going to break off and you get Hanako home or safe or...just get out of here. I’m going to draw them off,”

She looks at you first in confusion, and then horrified understanding. There is something in her eyes as goes rigid and continues forward at a normal pace. You fake receiving a phone call and pull over to the side to take it, drifting away from the sisters and waving them goodnight. Hanako obliviously waves goodnight with an echoing cry. Hitomi watches you worriedly, a well of sadness behind her eyes. She waves sadly, perhaps thinking this is the last time she’ll see you.

Won’t she be surprised.

You break for an alley a block back and relax the restriction you placed on your abilities. Effortlessly you leap off the wall a few times before climbing up onto the roof and looking for the figure who was following you.

A bullet flies past your shoulder, with no booming explosion of gunfire. There on the far side of the rooftop is a figure holding a gun lazily in their left hand, the chamber open and a slew of loose bullets being tossed up and down lazily in their opposite hand. They wear a hooded sweatshirt and simple but tight jeans.

“Hey there, cutie,” he says with a lopsided grin beneath the shadow of his hood, “I’ve had an eye on you,”

>Actions?
>>
>>31742220
Well, ask what he wants then. Unless he's an utter moron, he probably isn't looking to shoot us, what with missing the first shot and now removing the bullets from his gun.

Since I'm gonna go sleep now, thanks for running.

Rolled 5, 3, 4, 6, 3, 5, 3, 1 = 30

"Didn't anyone ever teach you that stalking is rude, and a real turn off to most single women," You grouse, "who are you, what do you want?"

He clicks his tongue and flings the empty gun away, you feel it land at the edge of your perception in a public waste basket on the street level. Lucky shot. Your other follower is busy climbing a fire escape, slowly, a block away.

"Isn't that the question. Who are you? Had a name once, don't have much use for it now. As for what I want, now that's a bit more complicated. I'm supposed to provoke you into showing off another fancy light show, and I was worried I'd overdone things earlier...but here you are. Right as rain."

His smile grows wide as his head rolls gently to and fro. Is he the creep who shot you?

"Two to the head, one to the torso. Nothing fancy, normal rounds. They wouldn't get me hollow point or anything special," he sighs and plays. With the loose bullets between his fingers, "guess they underestimated you,"

"Who are they," you're getting angry, "Who do you work for!"

He stops his approach and the smile vanishes.

"The first of your clergy, of course,"

With a swipe of his hand you feel space distort. A miniature funnel of gravity wraps around a single thrown bullet from among the several in his hand and rockets it toward you.

You reach out, perfectly aware of the bullet's trajectory relative to the rotation of the earth, it's orbit around the sun, and the solar system's movement within the grand spiral of the milky way. It extends, your arm, as your compression relaxes and you resume the dimensions you woke to this morning, though something is changed. Your musculature is rigid but mobile in ways you could not have conceived. You are aware of the almost crystalline architecture and arrangements of the atoms making up large portions of your body. Denser, harder, yet still soft and smooth. New found strength.

Heaving bosom straining against the previously comfortably loose sweater, and the waist of your pants straining at the seams against your chiseled waist and firm back; your body contorts in exaggerated motions allowing your hand to follow the bullet. Plucking it from the air with your fingers from behind before it can trie to bury itself into your chest, you show off your catch to your assailant and give a cruel smile.

The friction from betwixt your fingers was too much for the munition, and the fatigued metal crumbles into dust with the slightest pressure. Even though the pose you adopted to catch that bullet is entirely impractical, it feel natural, and you know it looks fantastic.

Your assailant steps back in shock. Offering a low whistle.

"Somebody has been eatin' their Wheaties. You are quite more than I was expecting, reckon I'll get out of your hair if it's all the same to you," he chuckles but it is laced with fear.

Good, you want him to be afraid.

well better is tough to say

this one is certainly a lot simpler and causes much less confusion

but at the same time with so many rolls you aren't going to veer very far from the expected average. that's why I was so shocked someone rolled as low as a 37. on a roll like 17d6, the probability that we're between 50 and 70 is about 86%, and the probability that we're between 45 and 75 is 97%.

From the dice you used to set the opposing DC though, I'd say it's having the intended effect. The chances of us beating their rolls are effectively 100%, we're using them mostly to rack up points for upgrades.

So yeah, less random than last system, less confusing for non-statfags, we win at everything. I'd say it's better.

>>
>>31746603
we have large dice pools thus far from applying many different traits, presumably later tests will include fewer
>>
>>31746659
>>31746506
Maybe narrowly focused means they'll have a pool that is really good at one thing, but it isn't so good at another thing, so even if it starts kicking our ass, we can go around and exploit it's weakness in creative ways?
>>
>>31746603
That would be useful. Thank you.
>>
>>31746703
Basically, (I think) it means they will have named dice just like we do, but their dice will be more specifically named, like "piloting a helicopter through a hurricane while eating a sandwitch", instead of "flying in unfavorable conditions". The more strict the wording of the dice, the more times you roll it when it applies, but the fewer situations it actually applies to. If we have to face a THING with super strict wording on its dice it will roll absurdly high amounts of dice in very specific scenarios, and be curbstomped everywhere else.

Pitching forward you let momentum carry you to your assailant. It's a rush as you catch him in a lariat move on your right, lift him slightly, before diving forward and pinning him down to the roof. Flexing your arms tighter, you cut off his already dazed air supply. The bullets have all fallen from his hand, and he keeps trying to forge a weaponized gravity well. Your own manipulation a keep him from forming one rather handedly.

"Go to sleep," you growl in glee.

There is a certain sensation as he struggles. That trilling feeling you felt earlier just from being bigger and stronger. Now; exerting that power over another, even a super powered assailant, is thrilling in its own way. He claws at your arm helplessly and eventually and goes slack beneath you.

Power. You are powerful. He was weak.

You shake those thoughts from your head and prepare to leave with your prisoner when you notice your other stalker. Whoever they are, they arrived far faster than you had expected or even noticed. They are dressed in blue with an obscuring rebreather and tinted eye protection.

In her hand is a collapsible baton. They close it Nd holster it.

"Well, looks like you didn't need someone looking after you after all. I'm a bit disappointed," try sigh.
