You tell Pietra that what she did was reckless and could have gotten her killed. You tell her that you would have made it out without her help, and that she could have done much more harm than good.

"Ugh, again with this? Why can't you ever just say thanks when I help you? Pat me on the shoulder, give me a kiss on the cheek? Do you really think I'm so delicate? That I can't even handle fighting a bound and injured enemy?" Pietra winces, grabbing at her side, even as she lectures you.

You give a sort of apology to Pietra. She seems displeased with it. Soon though, you realize that it isn't the only thing annoying her. You can see blood on her right hand now as she rubs her side. It seems in her anger she hasn't noticed an injury on her side.

You ask to see Pietra's wound. She is confused at first, but upon seeing her own blood, she agrees. She removes her coat and unlaces her jerkin to give you access to the shirt beneath. You kneel beside her and peel away the wet, reddened cloth. Two bad cuts, likely from when she was grabbed by the beast earlier. They don't look awful, but they should be cleaned and bound soon.

"Is it bad? I can't see."

A) "Just a scratch. Let's get back."

You tell Pietra to put her coat back on and wait here while you get Maurice. This makes her a bit nervous, but she agrees.

You leave her behind and make your way back to the cliff where you fell. Climbing back up is difficult, but straightforward at least. You reach the top and crawl onto the ledge. A few yards away the mouth of the cave is open. Kor sits cross legged, holding her head. Deeper in, Maurice is still unconscious.

He is groggy, but a little shake pulls him back to reality. You tell him Pietra needs treatment, and he seems to understand. The two of you take a safer route back to her. You both approach her in the snow. She seems to be feeling the pain of her injury now. Maurice kneels down and examines the wound. After a minute, he tells her to lay on her side.

"It's not bad, but it could get infected in this cold. I'll clean it, stitch it, and wrap it up." Upon hearing this, Pietra's eyes widen a bit.

"Do you have to stitch it? Won't that leave scars?" Maurice confirms, and begins cleaning the cuts. Pietra looks back up to you. "You'll kiss it better, right?"

Maurice finishes cleaning the cuts, then produces a needle and thread from his robes and begins suturing them. "Hell's bells. Two cuts close together like this makes it hard. You're gonna need to avoid heavy lifting for a while, Miss Pietra." Despite the trouble, Maurice finishes and finally wraps Pietra's belly in bandages. He wipes his forehead and puts away his supplies. The three of you start heading back to the cave, but Pietra grabs your coat. You turn back and see her with her shirt still open, and her jerkin tucked beneath her arm. Her coat is draped over her shoulders.

"I believe we had an arrangement." She grins.

The three of you sit by the fire again, and Maurice begins treating Kor's head. It seems the bump should only give her a headache for a while, otherwise she'll be fine. As Maurice checks her, Pietra scoots a bit closer to you.

You have the rattlesnake dream again tonight. This time you aren't in a desert, but a dark cave, and the snake approaches from the shadows before killing you. When you wake, you see Pietra is already stirring, watching the last few embers of the fire die.

You apologize for being rude the night before, telling Pietra that once the mission is over, you'll have all the time in the world to talk. Much to your surprise, she doesn't seem upset at all.

"It's fine. I understand. I shouldn't have tried to push you so hard. Take all the time you need because, honestly," Pietra stands and stretches herself out before finishing her statement. "I'm willing to wait for you." She turns and bends down to pick up her things, doing so with clear intent and purpose. You ignore them for now, and rouse the others.

You get back on the road soon after. Rather, you get back to descending the mountain, as there really is no true road. You spend hours climbing, sidling, hopping, and sliding. The good news is that gravity is much easier on things that wish to go down than those that seek to ascend. The trek continues on for a few more days, and while the mornings are energetic and friendly, you continue to have the rattlesnake dream, night after night. You don't lose any sleep over it, but the image every day is so vivid, it begins to weigh on you.

Finally you reach the foot of the mountain one bright morning. Kor relishes in her conquest of the mountain range. Maurice suggests restocking on medical supplies, but Pietra is eager and bouncing to get back on the move.

"Like you said, the sooner we finish the better, right?"

You give into Pietra and decide to get back on the road. Before you go, you excuse yourself to the restroom first. During this break, you scour your pack for a bottle. There is one, but you must shake it vigorously to remove the bit of water that was in it before. You pour just a bit of the blue powder in, and seal it up in your bag again. You return to the group and give the bottle back to Maurice, telling him you've changed your mind. He is confused, but takes the bottle back and tucks it away. The four of you head out again.

The road, now truly a road, carries on for a few more weeks. The dream still recurs, but you still do not lose much sleep, nor do you feel particularly unrested. In time, you sort of become accustomed to it. You continue to pas through the Farmlands, miles upon miles of endless seas of grain and vegetables, until one day you come to a large town. As you approach, Pietra speaks up.

"I've heard of this place. It's one of the old colonies. Pendleton, I think. I hear they host the main facility of the colonial government too. Though, I guess they aren't colonies anymore."

"What kind of backwards place lets the common people decide for themselves? It just isn't very smart, sir, that's what I think."

You enter the town, noticing the fact that there appear to be no walls, unlike towns to the west of the farmlands. The whole town seems like it was built from the center outward, with no regards to form or space. The people here are quite in a hurry, not even stopping when they bump into you on their way to apologize. Eventually you find an inn and enter. The folk here are drinking hard and celebrating, even though it's just past midday. You approach the counter and speak to the owner, a young and peppy woman with a matronly figure.

"It's a nice place. You won't find anything cheaper that's half decent, I promise."

You agree to her price, leaving you at forty gold. Half of what you started with. The four of you head upstairs to your rooms.

As you follow Maurice into your room, Pietra grabs you. You turn to see what the problem is, and find her grinning shyly.

"I know I shouldn't bring it up, but since we have the chance now...I just have to ask. I still have conditions about talking to Annalise about us. Will you hear them out?" She seems eager to spill her plans, but you have a bad feeling about what might happen.

"One night. I want you to treat me like you do Annalise for one night. I want you to hold onto me, and kiss me like you mean it. Annalise used to go on about it all the time, and I want to feel it too. Just once, with us alone. If you do it, then I'll agree to anything you say. Easy right?"

You look down at Pietra. She seems as if she's about to collapse from embarrassment.

We can do it tonight, or maybe later, but I really would like to do it in a big warm bed." There is fire in Pietra's eyes now.

You give in, and agree to Pietra's terms. Her smile widens to the point you worry for her cheeks. She rushes into the room where Kor is likely setting down her things. You follow to see what she intends to do.

Pietra pulls Kor to her feet, off of the bed, and shoves her out the door. Kor herself seems too shocked by all this to stop Pietra, and can only bring herself to ask about her bag. Pietra hurls it through the doorway with strength you had no idea she had. Kor catches it, but barely, as Pietra grabs you by the sleeve and yanks you into the room. You have just a split second to apologize to Kor before Pietra slams the door.

She begins moving around the room, adjusting things, dousing the lamp, and apparently trying not to hyperventilate.

"Okay! Okay, okay. Ummm, what do we do? Do you lay down first, or am I supposed to? Wait, do we lay down right away? Ugh, why didn't I rehearse this?"

You reach over to Pietra and pull her in close. She freezes up momentarily, as you bend down and press your lips to hers. It's not long before she responds, moving into her odd form of kissing, wherein she feels the need to mix saliva. Though you don't understand the point, you have no room to argue with it. You pull away and set her in place. The look in her eyes is dreamy and distant. You tell her that she clearly needs more time, and that this can all wait until she truly is ready. She mindlessly nods, and you aren't sure she's even in the same room anymore.

"Yeah. You're right. I'll wait, no problem. I just need a bath." Pietra moves past you and stumbles out the door, heading for where she must think the bath is, despite not being told.

You head out of the room and back to Maurice's. Kor is here, talking to him about a therapeutic cream of some sort as you enter. She asks what happened, but you pass over it and instead tell her she's free to take her bed back. She sighs and picks her bag back up before leaving and shutting the door behind her. You begin stripping off armor, and Maurice asks you what Pietra meant to do. You again deflect the subject and instead get right to bed. You nap for a long time, but oddly enough you no longer have the snake dream.

You wake up sometime later, with Maurice by your bed. He informs you that Pietra and Kor plan on going into town to get something hot to eat, and invites you to join.

"I see, sir. Of course we shouldn't be spending money when we aren't sure if we can. I will tell the ladies immediately. Please get some more rest, think of no trouble." You thank Maurice and he leaves the room. You lay back down and fall back asleep within a few minutes.

You wake up again to find Kor beside you. You don't think much time has passed. Kor shakes your shoulder and whispers to you.

"I know you're tired, but Pietra wanted me to ask if it's wrong to flirt with men to get them to buy you food?" Kor seems legitimately curious for your answer.

You thank Maurice for bringing the food back, explaining how much good meat can energize a man. You then ask about the events of last night.

"Well, we went on down to the tavern downstairs to get something to eat, but then you said not to spend gold. We started wracking our brains for ideas on how to make some scratch, when a man went right up and offered to buy Miss Pietra a drink. She turned him down, insulted the size of his manhood even, and sent him packing. Well, after a few more times, we started to put together that the fellas down there saw trying to take either Miss Pietra or Miss Kor home was a bit of a challenge. That's when Miss Kor came to ask for your blessing on the operation. After that, we got about half the men in the bar buttered up with honeyed words and eyelash batting, and eventually we were plump and moist as a holiday ham, I must say. Then we called it a night and brought the leftovers here."

You grin, telling Maurice that what he did was quite smart, all things considered. He smiles, adjusting his robes and tying back his long, messy hair.

The two of you leave and wake the ladies. Pietra looks half hungover, but Kor is busy exercising, same as you. You tell them to pack up and get ready. Pietra nods, and shuts the door again.

Within an hour, you are all ready to get moving. You head downstairs and toward the door, then hit the road ready to enjoy the morning sun. The trip through the city is long and confusing, and takes nearly all day. Eventually you pop out the other side facing northeast, but it's another six hours of walking before you're anywhere that's fit to camp. You carry on a while longer, until Pietra is ready to collapse from sore feet. There is no treeline here, so you settle for a soft patch of grass to make camp. You sit around the fire, munching on rations until Kor begins her meditation. Pietra sleeps early tonight, not even bothering to kick off her boots. You look over to Maurice, who is flipping through his cards.

Around her are masses of greenery and enormous plants you've never seen before. She holds her holy symbol in one hand as she runs, channeling something through it, but you can't be sure what. In the background, you see a pair of glowing eyes, like that of a cat, but the body attached can't be seen in the dark.

"Oh my. Oh my, oh my. Miss really has gotten herself into a pickle. Still, if anyone can handle it I suppose it must be the son of Old Donnel." Maurice looks up at you and sees your worry. You ask Maurice what shocked him so much. He continues to try and play it off, but you press further. Soon, he concedes.

"Years ago, when I had yet to don my first robe, I heard a man speak of a terrible, awful creature. Before I used his heart to make one of my cards, of course. Anyway, before he died he told me about a monster that takes the form of a man. They are beautiful, hypnotic even. They can draw the gaze of anyone with powerful magic, and some say they are even able to bend other to their will. They drink the blood of mortals to live, and their thirst is never slacked. There are many tales of them, and some are quite conflicting, but there are themes to be sure. They may never expose their bare flesh to the warm sun's rays. This will turn them to solid stone. They must drink mortal blood to keep their strength, and their strength is tremendous. It rivals even great beasts, I should think. And finally, they cannot be killed with steel. Their wounds heal far too fast, and they can snap mundane swords with little to no effort. Up until now, I assumed they were merely a bedtime story. But, I suppose that every legend has a nugget of truth at its core." Maurice looks into the fire, pensive.

>B) "Will Annalise be okay?"

You ask Maurice if Annalise will be alright facing this creature, if it is what Maurice suspects.

"The creatures weaknesses are sun, and perhaps fire. She is a master of both. She is also trained to fight all manner of things, and if the words of your brothers and sisters are to be believed, she is quite talented. There are few who have better odds against these monsters, if it is them." Maurice looks at the card again, then stuffs it back into the deck, and the deck into his pocket.

"I really don't know, sir."

Wrapping here to get some sleep. Keep the thread alive, brothers! I'll pick it back up same time as usual.

Thanks to everyone who played, I love you guys so much. You really make my weekends so much fun. Special thanks to anon who just wanted to kiss Pietra already. Someone be a champ and archive while I shower off.

Oh, and if smut anons are around, I'm working on it, and hopefully I'll get it done sometime in the next month or so.

Woops, slept in a bit
>>

Personally, I 'd like a rest period of about 9 to 10 hours. I just woke up with a headache that carried over from last night
>>
>>31755607
Well, since this thread only has about forty posts left in it, maybe we should just cut the weekend early. Plus, that has the bonus of letting me actually plan for what you guys are about to get into!
>>
>>31755654
thanks. Hope you got some interesting stuff.

just as a question though, how badly have I fucked things up?
>>
>>31755697
You mean with the harem? I dunno, man. Probably gonna get stabbed back in Lumen. That or threesomes. Could be either.
>>
>>31755744
yeah, that sounds about right. Can't exactly say that I like the risk of stabbing, but it does pile on the drama, doesn't it? Sorry if this is causing more work for you.
>>
>>31755781
What work? I don't plan this stuff more than about three posts ahead most of the time. And besides, you guys have been really good to me these past five months. The least I can do is throw you a smutty bone once in a while.
>>
These threads always make me happy, even though I don't play this quest.
>>
>>31755818
thanks, man. I'm gonna rest my head and hope the pain goes away. Shall I see you next weekend?
>>
>>31755848
Definitely. Barring my death by giant wasps, of course.

>>31755845
You should. You too could shape the form of Wrenloft's ridiculous harem.
