You are a young human doctor, abducted by the K'tulu, and recently released by demand of the Galactic Senate. You've chosen where you want to go, met a few of your fellow abductees, and finally left your prison behind for good. It's been two days since you boarded the transport and you're just half a day away from Velik Leis.

'Welcome to your Galactic Codex, Doctor! Is there anything you'd like to view?'

"What do you know about humans?"

'Searching for subject...Humans. Searching...searching...subject found, related subjects- Earth- asymmetric warfare- Galactic Senate Regulation 498-332. Humans are a pre-FTL species of the mammalian family, originating from planet Earth. Humankind was discovered in 2345 GS by the K'tulu Empire. They are a particularly flexible and adaptive species, owing to their evolution on a Class VI planet, they are capable of living in a jungle one week, a desert the next, and be ready to traverse arctic environments with nothing more than a change of clothes. This adaptability often extends to their professions as well; it is not uncommon for a human to study medicine for years before deciding to become a soldier or an engineer, or any other seemingly unrelated professions. While Humans have also been noted for having an above average vitality, it has been determined that they are nowhere near the strongest or toughest species on record. Reports indicate that the species was in the midst of a global-scale conflict at the time of their discovery, which was abruptly ended when they became the fourth reported species to use nuclear weapons on their home world.'

Despite the detonation of multiple nuclear weapons, the Humans did not devolve into a cycle of self-destruction* as many K'tulu scientists believed they would. Instead it triggered a 'space race' that lead to the humans developing basic space travel and achieving a lunar landing within a single generation's lifetime. Records indicate that it was at this point the K'tulu Empire began their illegal abductions of Humans, studying their anatomical and psychological profiles before moving on to basic military application, cybernetic augmentation, trans-humanism, and genetic alteration and enhancement. K'tulu studies on Humans as a species ended in 2424 GS and all humans in custody at the time received reparations and were released to Post-FTL worlds of their choosing.

A loud buzz rings out from your door, tearing your attention away from the tablet in your hands. You let out a small huff of annoyance at being interrupted but, as a second and third buzz sound off, you drop the device on your bed and make your way over to the door. Practically the second you open the barrier you feel a small hand clutch yours and pull you into the hallway. "Doc, you have to come now! Angel got beat up!"

You blink down at Lizzie in surprise, still not quite used to her copying Angelicia's nick-name for you, before your eyes widen as the rest of what she says catches up to you.

It sounds like Lizzie is on the verge of panicking and, on a closer inspection, you can see tears welling up in her eyes. While you've heard that there have been several small scuffles on the ship, it hasn't been anything too violent or unusual up until now. Still, you're worried for her, given Angelicia's trusting nature and her...less than modest wardrobe, you'd rather not think about what some of the people on this ship might be capable of.

Despite the sudden surge of adrenaline at the news that your new friend has been attacked, coupled with the additional weight of Lizzie being on the verge of an emotional breakdown, you manage to keep your cool as you gently pull her into your room and set her down on your bed before turning to gather up your gear. "Do you know what happened to her, Lizzie?" You ask urgently as you clip your whip on to your belt and slide your Centurion pistol into your suit's built in shoulder holster before sliding your helmet over head head and sealing. The last thing you grab before turning back to the little girl on your bed is the first aid kit from your survival kit.

"N-no..." Lizzie starts, sniffling slightly as she stares up at up at you fearfully, "I just know that she's got cuts and blood all over her face!"

Your jaw clenches at the revelation, "Okay, it's alright, Liz. Can you take me to her now? I can't help her if I don't know where she is." You say gently, thankful that you somehow keep your voice from betraying your desire to put a couple new holes in whoever's responsible for this.

She nods hesitantly, taking your offered hand and pulling you from your room hurriedly. As she leads you through the halls of the ship you notice that she's taking you towards the room her and Tobias share, just as she pulls to a stop in front of their door though, the both of your jump as you hear a shout. "There you are! Lizzie, I've been looking all over for you, why did you-"

Angelicia stops short as the two of you turn to look at her in surprise, noticing the death-grip Lizzie has on your free hand, "Oh...uh, hey, Jack. What are you doing here?" She asks, a puzzled look on her face.

You yourself blink in confusion from behind your helmet as you take in the sight before you. Far from the bloodied mess that you'd imagined from Lizzie's description of it, Angelicia only has a few small cuts and bruises across peppering her face, and only a small amount of blood smeared on it, it's also obvious that she either just got out of the shower or has been sweating heavily given the way her hair is plastered to her head. With the worries of her being critically injured cleared from your mind, you look her up and down, raising an eyebrow at the fact that she's clad in nothing more than a sports bra and shorts, you also note that the wraps on her hands have bloodied spots across her knuckles.

Finally you allow yourself to relax completely, blowing out a sigh of relief as you realize what probably happened. "Well, Lizzie came and got me, she told me that you'd went and gotten yourself beat up." You explain, easily, a smirk crossing your lips, "I guess looking at you, I wouldn't say that's entirely wrong."

You hold back a chuckle as the punk mechanic narrows her eyes at you, it's easy to tell exactly where she wants to tell you to go, though she refrains in favor of sticking her tongue out at you in a childish fashion. You're about to tell her exactly that too when a frustrated tug on your hand grabs your attention. "Doc! Why aren't you helping her! She needs band aids!" She whines, pointing at Angelicia's face desperately.

You consider explaining the situation to her, and that it's really not that bad, though she does seem pretty adamant about you fixing up your mutual friend.

You smile at Lizzie's assessment of the situation while reaching up to unlatch your helmet. As soon as your helmet leaves your head you adopt a mock-serious expression. "You're right, Lizzie, what am I doing just standing here talking? Angelicia needs immediate medical attention!" You state strongly before turning to look at the mechanic again, a shit-eating grin dominating your face as she stares at you in stunned disbelief.

The little girl's eyes widen as as she nods her head, "That's right! She needs medical attention!" She cries, doing her best to mimic your exact tone of voice while she rushes over to Angelicia and latches onto her hand tightly, "Come with me, Angel!" She demands, tugging her forward had enough to make the girl stumble a little before getting her feet back under her.

Lizzie opens the door as quickly as she can and urgently leads the two of you into her and her brother's room which, you note, is significantly larger than yours. You were initially surprised to find that Tobias' quarters were approximately the size of a small apartment, though after realizing that it was due to his sister you shrugged it off. You're pulled out of your thoughts you watch the girl shove her patient into a chair next to table in the siblings' dining room. "Okay, what now?"

You offer the girl a smile as you set both your helmet and your first aid kit down on the table before pulling a chair up next to Angelicia, "Well first I'm going to get into my bag and pull out some stuff to clean her cuts." You explain as you open up your kit and dig through it before you find a package of alcohol swabs; the medical gloves off to the side catch your eye for a moment, but you don't figure you're going to need them for this. You're doing this more for Lizzie's benefit than your wild-haired friend's anyways.
>>
>>31743796
"We might have to amputate her arm, I mean look at this cut! These are some of the worst cuts I've seen in a long time."
>>
>>31743796
We should ask if Lizzie would like to help with cleaning the cuts.
>>
Angelicia sighs tiredly, "Guys, I promise th-" She starts, only to get cut off by a very serious little girl.

"Nuh-uh! You have to listen to Jack, he's a doctor! That's what my brother told me!" She states strongly,

You direct a smirk at your friend as you nod sagely, "She's right, Angelicia, you SHOULD listen to me." You say, drawing a rather annoyed stare from her as you open up one of the packets.

"Are you really going to use a little girl against me like that, Jack?"

"Yes. Now hold still...hey, Lizzie, do you want to come over here and clean up Angelicia's cuts for me?" The excited squeak from the little girl is all the answer you need as she bounds over to you and takes the proffered swab from your hand. "Okay, now what you want to do is gently wipe the swab over her cuts li- yeah, that's it."

You watch your helper eagerly clean several of the mechanic's cuts across her face before she stops and turns, looking at you expectantly, "Okay, what now, Doc?" She asks, her eyes lit up in childish glee as you take the used swabs from her and pile them up on the table.

A thoughtful look crosses your face as you gaze into your kit. You've got bandages there, though honestly you'd rather not use them for something as basic as this unless you have to. You do recall having seen bandages in the bathroom in your own room though, maybe Lizzie and Tobias have some put in there as well?
>Just use the supplies from your kit, you'll replace them later.
>Ask Lizzie to go and try to find some bandages from her bathroom while you finish diagnosing Angelicia's condition.

Your face adopts a serious look as you turn to address Lizzie. "Now, I need you to go into the bathroom and try to find some bandages for me. Can you do that?" You ask, taking an overly dramatic tone.

The little girl nods strongly, "Yes, doctor!" She replies, just as dramatically, before taking off down the hall at a break-neck speed.

As soon as you're sure she's out of ear-shot you let out a small chuckle as you turn back towards your 'patient', who you notice is starting at you. "What?"

"You're an ass, you know that?" She complains, despite the amused smile slowly growing on he lips.

You shrug non-chalantly, "Yeah, that's what everybody back home said too. According to my mom, it's the source of my rogueish charm." You shoot back matter-of-factly, while picking up one of the swabs that Lizzie didn't use and picking up where she left off, though you note that your touch seems to make her squirm much more than hers did.

The mechanic lets out a disbelieving laugh, "She was just lying to make you feel better, Doc. There's nothing rogueish about you."

A smirk crosses your face and you raise a challenging eyebrow, "Oh? But you do think I'm charming then, right? I mean, you didn't deny that part."

Angelicia blushes lightly, "I didn't say that and you-"

Before she can finish her sentence you hear the door to the apartment slide open and turn to see Tobias step walk in, before stopping to stare at the two of you in confusion, his head cocking to the side as he takes in Angelicia's apparel and the cuts peppering her face.

"Wha-"

You shake your head as you turn your attention back to your work, swiping the swab across the last cut on the punk's face before setting it in the pile with the other discarded rags. "Lizzie saw Angelicia and thought she'd gotten herself beat up, so she came and got me. Don't worry, we've calmed her down. Oh, nice suit by the way, I assume you got it at that market on deck three?" You ask calmly, a self-satisfied smirk crossing your face as you see that your friend's face has only darkened further with color.

The cyborg stares at the two of you for a few more moments before walking into the kitchen, nodding as he takes a seat. You hear his voice program boot up, as if he's about to say something, but at that moment Lizzie comes streaking back through the dining room, a box of bandages in hand. "I've got them, Doc!" She cries excitedly, before taking notice of her brother, "Oh, hey Tobias! I'm helping Jack play doctor with Angelicia!" She states proudly before looking at you curiously as you cough uncomfortably, your formerly cool demeanor destroyed as your face lights up just as bright as Angelicia's. "...what?" She asks curiously, her excitement dulled as she stares at the two of you in confusion.

There's a short, uncomfortable silence as you and Angelicia scoot a few feet away from each other while Tobias merely stares at the two of you before finally breaking the silence, his voice buzzing with amusement. "So I saw..."

Both you and Angelicia gape at the cyborg. Clearly the mechanic is absolutely mortified by where this conversation is going, to be honest you're not particularly thrilled by it's direction either. Meanwhile Lizzie is starting to look annoyed as she stamps her feet in frustration, "What's going on?!" She asks in a demanding tone.

A few more awkward moments pass before you finally let out an annoyed sigh and decide, that rather than make the situation any worse than it already is, to get back to what you were doing before you were so rudely interrupted. Well...get back to what you were supposed to be doing anyways. "You said that you had the bandages, Lizzie?" You ask while turning to the girl with deliberate patience.

Lizzie blinks at you in confusion before down at the box of band-aids clutched in her hands. "Oh yeah!" She replies, perking back up immediately as she rushes to hand them to you. "You've got the band-aids, Doc, just like you asked!"

A grateful smile crosses your face as you take the box from her, setting it on the table and digging a couple out of it. "Alright, Lizzie, now I want you to put these two bandages over the worst cuts on her face." You say, handing them over to her while pointing out the cuts across the bridge of her nose and under her left eye.

The little girl nods dramatically as she snatches the adhesive strips from you, following your orders to the letter while Angelicia rolls her eyes at your return to 'doctor mode'. As soon as she's done, Lizzie turns back to you, "Okay, what's next?" She asks excitedly.

>>
You shake your head while motioning with your hand that you're done. "That's all for now. So what do you think, is she gonna live?" You ask seriously, as if you were depending on her for an expert diagnosis.

She scrunches her face up in concentration as she takes in your handiwork, before giving a satisfied nod. "Yeah, I think so. She looks a lot better now!" She answers, surprising you as she dives forward to give you a hug, "Thanks for letting me help, Doc."

You blink down at her, your eyes wide while Angelicia merely returns the same shit-eating grin you threw at her earlier. "Looks like you've got yourself a pretty good nurse, Doc." The mechanic says teasingly, before standing up with a sigh. "Well, thanks for your help guys, especially you, Lizzie. But I think I'm going to head out so I can take a shower and get ready for lunch." She glances at you as she grabs her water bottle off the table. "You want to go with me?"

Tobias cocks his head again, seeming surprised at her offer, though you're not much better as you raise an eyebrow, a reply already forming on your lips when she cuts you off. "That's not what I meant and you know it, jerk. I was just wondering if you were interested in talking while we go back to our rooms. They are in the same direction, after all, unless you decided to up and change rooms last night." She deadpans, clearly not interested in a repeat performance of earlier.

While she could have phrased it better, it's still definitely a valid questions, isn't it? Do you want to go back with her, or are you more interested in hanging out here for a little while longer?
>Sure, might as well. You need to take your med-kit back to your room anyways.

Angelicia's face seems to light up when you nod and stand up to grab your gear, an amusing sight given the bandages decorating it. "Sure, I'll come." You say as you hook your helmet to your belt with a small strap you'd somehow managed to miss up until yesterday. While it's not the best solution you, in your opinion, it does at least free your hands for more important things when you don't want to wear it.

As the two of you make your way out of the kitchen you stop and turn to Tobias and Lizzie, "Did you two want to join us?" You ask, before continuing as you see the cyborg lean forward. "You're more than welcome to join us for conversation, Tobias. You don't need to exclude yourself just because you aren't going to eat anything."

Tobias pauses for a moment as he considers that, before shaking his head, "I appreciate the offer, Jack, but I think I'll pass. You're free to join them if you'd like though, Lizzie."

You glance at the little girl invitingly, though you're surprised when she shakes her head as well. "No thanks, Doc, I want to stay with my brother right now." She replies in her typically happy voice.

Before you can say anything else to try and convince either of them Angelicia snatches you by your elbow, "Come on, Doc, you can spend some time with me." She says teasingly as she pulls you through the living room and out of the door as soon as it slides open.

You blink owlishly at her as she continues pulling you along the hallway outside their apartment. "Uh, okay...sure." You reply, not quite expecting her sudden attachment to you, though she does let up slightly as the two of you continue along.

She says before pausing, her face falling into a small scowl before continuing, "I still think you're kind of an ass though."

You roll your eyes at her teasing, about to respond when suddenly a loud Klaxon blaring over the intercom, "ALL PASSENGERS BRACE FOR IMPACT!" Your eyes widen at the sudden blast of noise, though before you can even register anything else both you and Angelicia are sent flying to the floor as a massive explosion rocks the ship, sending shockwaves across all the decks.

Angelicia groans as she slowly pulls herself up off the floor before turning to help you up to your own feet, sirens still blaring all the while. "What the fuck's going on?!" She asks incredulously, though obviously you're in no position to answer her question yourself.

Almost as if the universe had heard her and decided to reply, the two of you jump almost a foot in the air as you hear the intercom crackle to life, sounding as if the speakers near you may be damaged. "ALL CREW ON DECK, MAN ALL OPERATIONAL FIRING STATIONS! WE ARE UNDER ATTACK BY A PIRATE VESSEL, THERE ARE MULTIPLE HULL BREACHES ON DECKS TWO, FOUR, AND ONE! I SAY AGAIN, WE HAVE BEEN BOARDED! WE REQUEST THAT ALL PASSENGERS BARRICADE THEMSELVES IN THEIR ROOMS OR FIND A SAFE HAVEN, WE WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEATH, INJURY, OR LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY IF YOU DO NOT COMPLY IMMEDIATELY!"

You see the color drain from Angelicia's face, honestly you're pretty sure you're not far behind her on that field. "Oh, shit! We have to get back to Lizzie!" She cries, half-way to bolting back towards Tobias and Lizzie's room before you manage to snatch her arm, "You don't even have any armor or weapons, how are you going to help them?" You ask seriously as you jam your own helmet back on your head and hastily latch the seals.

"I can take care of myself, Doc, we have to go now!"

This is serious. Without any weapons or armor Angelicia could be a prime target if you run across anybody with hostile intentions, on the other hand she does have a point. While Tobias is obviously a capable fighter, there's no telling how this might turn out for any of you if you don't stick together. What should you do?

You tighten your grip on Angelicia's arm as she tries to pull away from you, obviously desperate to run off to rescue your friends. "Look, right now you're unarmed and half-naked, Angelicia. I don't care who you are or what kind of tricks you've got up your sleeves, those are shitty odds." You say forcefully.

Angelicia's face flashes with a wave of anger and a small amount of hurt, "I told you that I-"

"Stop! Stop and listen to me, damn it!" You shoot back, angrily, "I know you can take care of yourself, but there's absolutely no sense in needlessly risking your life when you can go back and put your armor on. We're closer to your room than we are theirs right now. If we split up then I can go and make sure they're alright while you grab your gear and meet up with us back at their room." You reason quickly. "We've already got eachother's comm codes and if anything changes in our situation, or if you need help, then we can call each other, alright?"

There's a few moments, as she stares angrily back at you, that you think she might tell you to go fuck yourself and run off to try and help your friends anyways. Finally, after what seems like an eternity of wasted time, she nods grudgingly. "Fine, Jack, you win. But I swear, if you go and get yourself hurt because I wasn't there to watch your ass, I'm going to fucking murder you." She growls at you, before turning on her heel and running down the hall towards her room at a faster pace than you thought possible.

You breath a sigh of relief as you watch her go, before turning around yourself and starting to run in the opposite direction. Despite knowing that everything you said was true, you can't help but worry that something might happen to the mechanic while you're not there to help her. While you thought her threat was a bit excessive, it appears that the feeling is mutual.

You've only been running down the hall for a few minutes when you hear gunfire and the sound of rending metal, you also hear a terrified scream followed up by vicious laughter from a few different mouths. When you turn around the corner it came from you're dismayed to see the body of a man lying on the ground, several strands of smoke trailing up from his corpse as a young red-headed girl scrambles down the hall in your direction in an attempt to escape three large figures chasing after her. While you've managed to see them, it appears that neither the girl nor her attackers have seen you yet, though it's surely only a matter of time before they do unless you run back around the corner.

What do you do?
>If they haven't seen you yet then you should try and hide. Granted if you do that then they'll probably catch the girl.

Before you even really know what's going on your hand is already flying to your pistol and unholstering it from your shoulder, your actions catching the girl's attention as you do so. The redhead lets out another shriek, before throwing herself to the ground in front of you, alerting the pirates to your existence, though by the time they've realized the threat, you've already flicked on your holo-sights and popped off three rounds at the lead alien.

All three pirates shout out in shock as they realize that you're shooting at them, diving for the sparse cover that exists in the corridor while the girl at your feat crawls desperately around the corner to try and find cover for herself as well. Unfortunately for your target your, but thankfully for you, his shields had already flared up and died when your first three shots sparked violently against it, leaving him almost fully exposed as you fire another two shots into his chest, followed up by a particularly lucky shot that connected with his head, thanks to the firing drills your father pounded into your head since you were ten.

The remaining two aliens let out a roar of rage as they watch their comarade crumple to the ground as if he were a puppet who's strings had just been snipped, smoke rising and sparks flying from the three new holes in his body. You flinch as the tall and muscular alien furiously jumps from his cover, popping off a couple shots at you as he charges towards you and yanks a cylinder similar to your own from his belt, while his remaining friend sticks behind his little bit of cover while firing wildly at you with his rifle.

>Fall back to cover before the big alien reaches you.

>16, 17, 17 Great success! Apparently you should have joined the military rather than just being a doctor, if you're so talented at this fighting stuff.

You duck as the pirates continue firing at you, bullets whizzing mere inches past your head as you try and find an opening to get off a shot, though unfortunately you realize that in your current position you're more likely to get yourself killed than anything else. Reluctantly you scramble back around the corner, infinitely thankful to see that wherever the redhead you saw earlier went she didn't decide to stick around here, likely due to the furious shouting coming from the pirates as they pursue you. Your heart pounds violently in your chest as you sprint through down the corridor before throwing yourself into the alcove of a doorway, your eyes widening as you see a large spray of rounds slam into the ground where you were just seconds before.

Footsteps pound heavily against the ground as one of the aliens tries to close in on you while the other one pins you down with several long bursts of fire, rather than just let him advance on you though you fire several blind shots around the corner, giving a little pump of your fist as you hear your aggressor's shield flare up, only to be followed up by a loud cry of pain. It sounds like you managed to at least score a hit on one of them, though you have no idea if it's a critical injury. Of course given the fact that you can hear two separate guns firing, you sincerely doubt it. Well, at least he's not trying to charge into your face any more.

You try to evaluate your situation as the rounds slam into your cover relentlessly, doing their best to jar you from your thoughts. Right now you're not sure you have very many options...
>Try to draw down on one of the pirates. Which one should you aim for?

Rounds slam at a near constant pace against your cover, pointlessly chipping away at the durasteel wall as the pirates pin you down into the alcove that you had once considered to be your salvation. Now, if you don't find a way out of here soon, it may very well prove to be the mistake that gets you killed if another group of pirates come down the hall. With those thoughts running through your head you gather up your courage and, at the next break in fire, pop from your safe-haven your eyes searching desperately for any signs of which alien you scored the hit on previously.

Your eyes narrow as both pirates start shouting again, the one with the rifle fumbling slightly as he tries to reload, apparently caught with his pants down, while the muscular alien attempts to shoot you with his pistol, only to miss wildly as the pain in his shoulder throws off his aim. You snap your own pistol up, drawing down on him and firing the last three rounds from your magazine into his chest. For a brief moment you consider dropping back into your cover, though you quickly decide against it as you watch the pirate closest to you slump to the ground, gurgling pathetically as he bleeds out while his friend starts desperately firing at you again, clearly starting to lose his nerve after seeing you kill two of his team mates within minutes of each other. You rush forward and slide into the same cover so recently vacated by your now dead enemy, as the last pirate continues firing towards you, keeping you pinned down again, you take the chance to drop your magazine and reload your pistol while also trying to take stock of your options in your new position.

>Push your attack, jump from cover and rush your enemy, maybe if you take him by surprise you'll be able to take him out quickly.

>Great Success!

You breath heavily as you press your back tightly against the wall, only occasionally peeking from cover to in an effort to try and spot any opening your last enemy might give you. It feels like you've been pinned down in this firefight for ages when finally the rattling sound of the pirate's assault rifle ends with a loud -click-. Your eyes widen behind your helmet as you hear the alien shout what sounds distinctly like some kind of curse word, prompting you to jump from your cover and charge towards him, shots ringing out out in the sudden lack of noise. You see his shield flare up briefly before dying in a brilliant flash of sparks, letting two rounds slam into his arm, forcing the pirate to drop his rifle as he screams out in pain.

As you close in to melee range you see the alien scramble backwards into a wall, clearly terrified at your sudden advance and giving you all the chance you need to slam into his chest, shoulder first, crushing him between yourself and the unforgiving durasteel bulkhead. The pirate chokes out a cry of pain, coughing roughly as he collapses to the floor, only for his head to whip back and crack itself on the floor when you mercilessly kick him across the jaw. Finally, breathing heavily, you let up on your attack and take a couple steps back from the 'fearsome' marauder as he groans in barely conscious pain. While it looks like you probably broke his jaw and knocked out a few of his teeth, it doesn't look as if he has a head wound, not on the outside at least, however you note that, from the rate that his purple blood is seeping out onto the floor, he probably doesn't have much time left in this world if you don't give him some assistance.

To be honest, you would really rather not save this bastard's life. He and his kind were the ones that started this fight when they decided to raid this ship, and you know that he's killed at least one innocent man, if not more since the attack began, and you'd much rather try to get to Tobias and Lizzie before any of the pirates do. Hell, with as long as this firefight took, Angelicia might have already gotten her gear and beat you there, though that seems unlikely.

You let out a sigh as you look down on the alien, your mind racing at all of the possible horrors your friends might be dealing with while you waste time debating with yourself.

not with that attitude were not.

More importantly, we can get information on how his insides work. Learn by doing.

At the very least we could pass him on to the local police, maybe they could do the interrogation?
>>
You set your jaw as you hastily toss your med-kit on to the ground, rolling your eyes as the alien groans and tries to scramble away from you, clearly thinking that you're intending on executing him. A scowl crosses your face at the thought. Not because you're necessarily opposed to it, but more due to the fact that you're not particularly proud of how tempted you were to do it and rid the galaxy of a man who obviously has no qualms about destroying other people's lives in the pursuit of his own selfish desires. "Hold still, damn it. I'm not going to kill you." You growl at him as you grab his arm roughly and hastily slide the synth-fiber tourniquet up to his shoulder before starting to tighten it, gritting your teeth as you have to plant a knee in the middle of his chest to keep him from wriggling away from you while he screams as though you were performing a penectomy with a chainsaw. "Stop squirming, asshole, or I'll just let you bleedout!"

The alien lets out a small whimper at the threat, though thankfully he finally realizes that you're not actually trying to hurt him. Finally, after a much longer amount of time than it should have taken, you manage to get the blood flow to stop and you let out a sigh of relief, before pushing yourself up off the floor, making double sure to snatch the magazines from the pouches on his vest and grind your knee into your patient's gut as you do so. "There. I've managed to stop the bleeding. I have no idea how long it's going to be before your arm will have to be amputated, but you'd better hope that somebody finds you before then or else you're gonna be nick-named stumpy for the rest of your life." You explain harshly as you roughly re-holster your pistol, in favor of walking over to the pirate's discarded assault rifle. "From here on out you're on your own, Pirate."

You've only taken a few steps away from him, in fact you had just finished stuffing the magazines you stole from him into one of your pouches, when you hear the alien cough roughly before speaking. "Wh-why, did you do it?"

It takes you a few moments, after turning around, to realize that the raised eyebrow behind your helmet isn't accomplishing anything at the moment, "Excuse me?"

"Why did you save me? You should have left me to die..." He mutters, his pale face contorted in a mixture of confusion and pain.

You shake your head at the question, wondering if you should even bother to answer him. After all you've got much more important things to be doing right now. Like making sure Lizzie doesn't end up without a brother, or worse. Still, it is a good question for him to ask.

>Are you going to answer him? If you do, then why DID you save him?
>Don't bother answering him. You're not going to waste any more of your breath or time on him.

>Don't bother answering him. You're not going to waste any more of your breath or time on him.

We need to hurry. Let's leave him to stew in his own muck for a bit.
>>
>>31752644
>Are you going to answer him? If you do, then why DID you save him?
"Medical ethics. You wouldn't understand."
>>
>>31752644
"I'm a Doctor"
as we walk away
>>
>>31752644
>>Are you going to answer him? If you do, then why DID you save him?

"Hell if I know."

Leave it at that.

>>31752667

That went out the window when we killed two aliens.
>>
>>31752688
That was self defense. We're not a monk.
>>
>>31752688
that was self defense they were firing at us. this man was disarmed on the ground bleeding out what don't you understand about this?
>>
>>31752667
Seconded.
>>
>>31752688
Technically we've killed three aliens in our entire lifetime. We broke the sternum of one alien when they abducted us and then killed another one with a ballpoint pen before they could subdue us.
>>
Also it's looking like Medical ethics is a favored one and I'm going to say I'm a doctor is a contender too. Unless anybody else has another suggestion that you prefer more I'm going to put those two up to a vote, in the interest of rounding out this scene.
>>
>>31752811

Voting for "I'm The Doctor."
>>
>>31752834
we even have companions! all we need now is a police box.
>>
>>31752834
Do it, heh

No one else will get the joke but humans

You eye the pirate with disdain before turning your back on him, a small smile growing on your face, despite the grim circumstances, as you realize exactly what you want to say, "I'm The Doctor." You state, as if it's the most simple thing in the world as you walk away purposefully, intent on making your way to Tobias and Lizzie's room as quickly as possible.

The alien shakes his head in confusion as he watches you slowly as you fade out of view while trying to prop himself up on the bulkhead. "He's the doctor? What the hell's that supposed to mean? Damned aliens..."

End of Episode 4.
>>
Hey guys, I'll stick around for a little while for a Q&A session, if anybody is interested, but I'll probably be going to bed within a couple hours. I'll try and have another episode up later today, hopefully earlier. Starting Monday the pace is going to slow down since I've got to head back to work again.

>I'm The Doctor

Not gonna lie, that was kinda dumb.
>>
>>31753160

Thanks for running.

Is everyone on this craft headed for the same destination?
>>
>>31753184
>kinda
It was straight up retarded. I wish I was here to vote against it, but I had voted already and didn't think anons would come up with something that stupid
>>
>>31753184
I just write what you tell me to. I honestly couldn't think of much to do with it, not being much a doctor who fan myself.
>>31753222
Yes.
>>
>>31753238
I'm sorry I wasn't there to vote against it then. It really was rather cringeworthy.

Alas, I have failed to entertain the masses! Clearly this calls for a withdrawal into myself which I will not exit for months on end.
>>
>>31753238

How do you plan on runnjng this, space western style or more gritty?

I laughed at least.
>>
>>31753264
Agreed. There was some solid suggestions and then the whotards came with their dumb shit.

>>31753314
Don't worry too much about it. Just have cut off points where you don't accept more votes next time.
>>
>>31753323
I plan on it being a bit of a blend, really. The planet we're going to right now has a lot of unexplored ruins scattered across the place, seeing as how the civilization that was there just kind of disappeared without a trace. It's set up to kind of feel a little science-fantasy, with reports of 'magic' that are scoffed at by the scientific community at large. Really, the entire point of the colony in the first place was exploration, so that's this planet, there were others that were set up to be more cyberpunk-ish or like a space-western too. Ultimately I suppose how it ends up playing out depends on where you guys want to go with it. Hopefully that answers your question. If not then I guess I guess it falls under the catch all phrase of "I'm just mashing buttons and making words come out on the screen, in an effort to entertain myself and others."

>>31753314
I'm guessing a lot of the anger is because people stop monitoring the thread for a while due to (no offense) your slow update speeds.

It can be kind of jarring to see that you're updating with (x) then coming back and updating with (y) instead due to some people voting after your announcement.
>>
>>31753231
just got up sadly i couldnt vote since i was trying to catch up on what happened in the thread so far.
Prob would have been better if we said im a docter,

>>31753314
You do a good quest thread in my opinion. ive seen some of the other ones and voted and such.
>>
>>31753449
Understandable. I was mostly joking in that post. Still you make a decent point, and I've been trying to speed up my posting times. Obviously I haven't had much success yet, but hopefully I'll be able to fix it with more practice.
>>
Holy shit. I need to come to /tg/ more often.
>>
>>31755769
No.

No you do not.
