It is the year 22XX and Humanity has reached the stars. Alas, even though they have attained the lofty goal of interstellar travel, mankind has yet to conquer it’s baser instincts.

Humanity is ruled by ultra-Corporations. Some own continents. Some own multiple worlds. But no matter who you are, everyone is a citizen-employee somewhere. The qualms that beset corporations of the past, copyright infringement, tech theft, still exist. If anything, they are amplified by the scale of the players.

Without government to turn to for legal recourse and separated by millions and billions of miles, corporations have turned to less savory solutions to resolve disputes. You are one of those solutions.

You are an elite mercenary, also known as a High Impact Public Representative, of the StrikeOut Company, a group of mercenaries who accept contracts and missions from the highest bidder. You are launched out of a spaceship in a drop pod filled with bright orange and highly toxic gel. You crash land into the target’s facilities, make a mess, do your job, and then get the hell out.

You are a Fall Guy. You are a Deniable Asset.

“Quite possibly the stupidest shit ever,” you reply, exasperation flooding your voice. “Well at least this one time it was. The NepCol Rings had just won the Rugball Stellar Horn. So naturally everyone’s drinking and having a good time. And it doesn’t take much time at all for people to start crowding out onto the streets right?”

Svenja nods. Already, you can see the clouds of concern that had darkened her visage fading away as you speak. Clearly she’s not one to enjoy hearing about jackbooted tactics. You stop speaking as the waiter replaces your soup with the main course. You take the time to savor your pirozhki. However, even when being savored you still manage to wolf them down. Gazing across the table at Svenja picking at her food like a bird, you speak. “So like I was saying. Crowds on the street. And when drunken crowds are on the street, stupid shit is almost always imminent. This was no different. Some jagoff decides to throw a brick or something through a shop window and voila, there’s a full on sports riot going on.”

Svenja nods, eyes wide. You think she might be lucky that all of SolarSail’s sports teams have historically been shit. “So we get called in-”

“Just a second Ivan,” says Svenja, eyes alight with interest, “Are you telling me that it was basically a lateral career move from police officer to corporate raider? I would think there’d be more of an intermediate step.”
>>
You puzzle at her question for a moment before remembering. SolarSail is one of those weird companies, where secfors are broken into civilian policing and foreign defense wings. Even weirder, the part of the secfor responsible for protecting from external threats can’t even arrest civilians. “Oh, well for most companies, there isn’t any line between soldier and police officer, just a matter of equipment. So I guess my intermediate step was a seismic tomahawk and a huge revolver.”

“So are you telling me that military units can arrest civilians on most worlds,” asks Svenja, apparently surprised at the thought.

You nod slightly, an eyebrow raised. “Yeah. I mean it’s not common since they either aren’t active or are in the barracks, but yeah. Hell, I think StrikeOut mercs have the authority to arrest any NeoLogos personnel if the CGO gives us permission to do so.”

Svenja looks utterly shocked at the thought. “So if a Chief Governmental Officer grants approval, mercenaries who are not directly accountable to the civirie can run around legally bashing heads? I thought that NeoLogos was a progressive corp.”

"Svenja, there AREN'T civilian govermnents so much, the further you get away from Earth. "
"Its not as bad as you think. Corporates as a whole matured when they realized they have to take care of their citizens and clients, and nobody else is going to do it for them."
"I mean, yeah, Secfors technically DO have police powers - but its roughly equivalent to state of emergency, martial law, and the draft. Things that only happen if something goes seriously wrong."
"i had a training seminar on the thing, and we were told straight up that its basically never happened. Full on shooting war, territory invasions, the works"

“I think you’re getting a bit ahead of yourself Svenja,” you say raising both your hands in what you hope is a calming or at least non-aggressive manner. “I mean, when they were telling us about this in basic, it was entirely in hypotheticals. I don’t honestly think we’ve ever been called upon for something like that.”

Svenja seems somewhat mollified, but a little affronted at the idea of it all. “Well I’m happy to hear that this isn’t a frequent occurrence! But there is still the principle of the matter.”

You spread your hands and shrug. “What can I say Sven? I’m just some grunt that they point at things they want blown up or stolen. If it makes you feel any better, I’m pretty sure those permissions are mostly around in case of a pandemic outbreak or infiltration assault, where competitor agents can claim civilian privileges.”

“...NeoLogos still affords infiltrators civilian privileges?”

You snap your fingers and smile. “Yeah! Yeah they do! You see? It’s not nearly as bad as it seems at first blush. There are just some times where you need superhuman mercenaries who get shot from space cruisers into the ground at mach-4 at apex with policing privileges. Not many, but some.”

Svenja snorts at the specificity of your statement and shakes her head. “Well, I will concede that most security officers are not as pleasant as you, Ivan. Perhaps I’d prefer you pulling me over for a speeding ticket than the average officer.”

svenja blushes furiously scarlet and mumbles something. You lean forward slightly. “Sorry, I missed that?”

“Pelmeni,” you finish for her, amusement evident in your voice.

“Yes, Pelmeni,” Svenja concurs, looking extremely embarrassed.

“So hang on now Svenja,” you say, crossing your arms. “you seem to be pretty passionate about civil liberties and all that. So I gotta wonder, what do you think of us mercs?”

Svenja looks away from you, towards the leg of nearby table. “I… I mean well… Well. There was what I thought of mercs before and after.”

“Before and after what?”

“Meeting you,” replied Svenja, finally making eye contact. You’re pretty touched by that.

“Alright then. What did you think of mercs before we started getting to know each other?”

Svenja makes an uncomfortable noise. “Ivan I just want to be clear that I had some very opinionated friends in uni, and they rubbed off on me to a certain extent…”

“Really Sven,” you reply raising both eyebrows, “you’re starting to make me worried.”

“Well I mean, it’s just that we would cherry pick our news sources and only look at the bad things your guys would do… the things like… well you know… where everything went all wrong.”

You grimace slightly. Those aren’t pleasant memories. “Well, if that’s your sample size, I can’t blame you for having an ill opinion of people in my line of work. So I wonder why you chose the job in the first place?”

Svenja sighs, “Oh I thought I could try and keep you “Corpro-fascist attack dogs” under a leash. Try and stop you from the inside.”
>>
You snort at her word choice, more amused than anything else. You had no idea Svenja was a stereotypical college anti-corpist in her youth. Or no so youth. “So you wanted to dismantle the system from the inside? What made you change your mind?”

Svenja fiddles around with a lock of hair. “I think it was a few days after the first time we met, and I realized you really were scared of me too. I don’t know why, but I think it made you more human to me… it’s hard to hate somebody for supporting the corporate oppressors when they’re shaking in their boots at your desk.”

You smile slightly and rub the back of your head. “Yeah well, what can I say? All the rookies are terrified of HR. Hell, I think most of the senior mercs are too. That’s why they give us a single liaison to get to know for dealing with HR”

Svenja smiles. “Yes, well it wasn’t just seeing you scared either. I was always getting called in to help other advisors with various side projects. You can only set up so many priority flights to young children’s birthday parties and still dislike a group of people.”

You grimace utterly shocked that StrikeOut would contemplate doing something so incredibly awful. “You cannot be serious. I refuse to beli- ohhhhhhh… They’re headed to their OWN kid’s birthday parties. Of course.”

Svenja gives you an utterly perplexed look before breaking out in laughter. “Oh my goodness! Oh my, could you even imagine something like that?”

You laugh and rub the back of your head once more. “Well, they say the party clown business is pretty damn cutthroat.”

Svenja comes very close to spurting a mouthful of mineral water across the table.

“Hey that reminds me. We have yet to inaugurate that bottle of champagne.”

Svenja gasps a little. “Oh! Right, we still need to do that,” she reaches down and pulls out the bottle from some sort of sleeved carrying bag thingy. “Here, do you want to do the honors?”

You smile and take the bottle from her, popping to cork into your hand before carefully pouring out a glass for each of you. “A toast,” you say, hoping this doesn’t come off as lame like it did pretty much every time your dad did something like this after you turned fifteen, “To the power of birthday parties and understanding.”

Svenja clinks her glass against your own and sips daintily. You sip as well, albeit in a less demure and feminine fashion. As she places her glass back down on the table, you speak. “So I can’t help but wonder what your friends thought of your change in heart.”

Svenja frowns slightly. “Oh, them. Yes, I imagine they would not approve of my current vocation, or my change of heart.”

“So what, they didn’t give you any shit for the job after you all graduated?”
>>
Svenja grimaces a little. “I lied, to be completely honest. I doubt they’d have even been okay with me working to put a stop to the “fascism” from the inside. They were rather puritan in their ideology.”

“Yeesh, they sound like a bunch of sticks in the mud,” you say, taking another sip from your champagne.

“They are,” confirms Svenja, “Or were. I mean, they were nice enough, so long as you didn’t try to engage them about politics. Or rather, disagree with them about politics It wasn’t so bad in the beginning, but as time went on at least a few of them became downright Martian in their world view. I imagine most of them are working as product testers today.”

“Well there’s something to be proud of,” you mutter sarcastically. “Guess all those protests and activism really made a huge difference at the end of the day.”

Before Svenja can reply, a waiter appears, taking your empty plates away. He leaves in their stead a dessert menu. You pick yours up, and look through it curiously. It’s not nearly as strictly Voytekian as the dinner menu. Things like ice cream and generic cream filled pastries stand alongside more ethnic offerings. You look up to see Svenja looking over the menu, obviously troubled.

“What’s wrong?”

“Oh, I know it’s not really appropriately Voytek, but these eclairs look delicious. The only thing is, it comes in a pair and I’m not sure if I could eat that much.”

“Hey, if it ain’t a bother, I’d be more than willing to take one of those off of your hands,” you reply, salivating slightly at the image of the pastry in the menu.

“Would you? Thank you so much Ivan,” Svenja responds with a beam. “I’m just feeling rather close to being full, but it would be such a shame to miss out on these.”

You smile and order the eclairs. The two of you sip on champagne until they arrive. You look down on yours with about as much fondness as is appropriate for an adult human male to feel towards his dessert. Svenja on the other hand has a rather more extreme expression on her face. You might almost call it lustful, were it not for the fact that this is a freaking pas- uh right. Well it isn’t a donut, so you can still be a bit surprised.

...Maybe eclairs are like phallic donuts to her?

Shaking away the thought - and the concern that such an effect might be more multiplicative than additive - you return your attention to your own eclair. You are about to take a bite when you hear something wet and gooey land on something else and an “eep” of alarm. As if “eep”s come in any other flavor.

You look up to see that Svenja has apparently decided to eat her eclair with her hands. She also apparently decided to grip with way too much force, as there is now cream filling splattered on her face.

Maybe it's because we're an investment? I mean if I'd spent that much creds to train us in merc works/give us those augs, I'd rather have that guy survive untill he pays me back.
That and the fact that SO seems to runs things differently than the others merc groups makes it like we're a smaller, better experienced group of mercs than the ones out there.

You know how Papa Kostov would react to a situation like this. You know, because right now you’re completely failing to resist the urge to do it yourself. Your eyebrows bounce up and down, the corners of your mouth pointed ever so slightly up as you do so. Svenja touches a splattering of cream on her cheek with a finger. She examines the dollop of cream on her index finger for a second before shrugging almost imperceptibly and inserting it into her mouth. Her eyes close with evident pleasure as she sucks the filling off.

For whatever reason you feel as though this isn’t an entirely innocent gesture.

Her finger exits her mouth, red lips wrapped tightly around it as it makes it’s exit. Her eyes flutter open and lock with your own.

Oh my, definitely not innocent.

The Ivan of a few months ago would be so disarmed by this little display, he might have suffered mental burnout. However, exposure to the Valkyrie has hardened your mind and will against such attacks. Mostly. You quickly regain your composure, although you’re pretty sure you kept your momentary lewd overload from disrupting your expression, which remains a combination of suggestive and amused.

“It seems you’ve run into a spot of bother. Would you like some help, Svenja?”

Svenja smiles in a way you didn’t think possible from her, and wipes the cream off of her face. “No, don’t trouble yourself Ivan, I am quite alright.”

“Would you like to have mine, instead,” you offer, your voice careful and controlled.

Svenja smiles. “No, I think I’ll be fine. I don’t want to get too full.”

It would be great if OP could make some background about children and mercs, obviously the two aren't exclusive but it would be interesting to see as you go up the merc ladder you're getting furhter away from having kids. Mercs like Darius would be the final stop before you can get children the normal way(and even then you'd have to be real careful or you'd destroy your mate's pelvis in a accidentaly gritmode). Motherhood on mercs of Valk caliber is/would be out of question since gritmode...

You cut your eclair in half and proffer one of the bits to Svenja. “Really Ivan, I don’t want to get too full right now.”

You place the fork down on your plate and pretend to look contemplative. “You know, I almost feel the same way. Still, I’d rather we finish together.”

Svenja blinks at you once or twice before standing up. You hurriedly pay for dinner, remembering to include a tip, as she drags you off and out of the establishment. Before she can do anything too indecent to you, you grasp her by the side. “Hey, Svenja, you want to see something cool?”

Svenja nods eagerly, and you lead her to the elevator down to K-Level. She cuddles up next to you in the elevator while you order it down to K-Level. Svenja looks at your destination in surprise. “K-Level?”

“Oh yeah, just something they told us rookies about in basic. It was a planned expansion to the Brick that never really took off. Construction stopped before they were even close to done. We mercs can access it though, in case of an invasion or something similar.”

“Creepy,” Svenja mutters, pressing herself closer against you. “completely abandoned? What is down there?”

“Completely,” you confirm with a semi-serious look on your face. “It was going to be a residential area, or at least, that’s what they had excavated so far. Well, that and the observatory.”

“An observatory,” gasps Svenja, looking quite excited at the prospect. “Oh, really? One that isn’t crowded with random strangers and loud little kids either?”
>>
“Unless little kids somehow got level three security permissions, none whatsoever.”

Svenja looks quite excited at the prospect.

Eventually the elevator comes to a stop, and the two of your step out of it and into the dark and cold K-Level. Svenja shivers and moves closer against you. You wrap an arm around her and lead her down to the observatory. “Now I should warn you,” you say standing before the doors to the observatory, “The view really isn’t anything spectacular. Kind of underwhelming.”

Svenja props herself up on tiptoes. Even then her mouth is nowhere close to your ear. You can still hear her whisper in the silence of K-Level, “I think the view is perfectly fine already.”

You grin somewhat foolishly, although in the half light of K-Level it looks more impressive and manly, and open up the doors to an utterly unexpected sight. The observatory is flooded with light. Your mouth hangs open in shock. “You have got to be kidding me…”

You and Svenja both take a few steps into the cavernous observatory, mouths both gaping open at the psychedelic light show. “I suppose it was just that time in the Brick’s orbit,” Svenja murmurs, gazing around in awe.

“Yeah,” you mutter, standing next to her. “I think that deserves a toast.”

Svenja nods, and you pour out some champagne. You clink the glasses and drink from them, less sipping and savoring and more downing the liquid quickly. You look out into the nebula, utterly shocked at your good fortune. As you stand there, Svenja walk up next to you, wrapping herself around one of your impressive arms.

“So… an underwhelming view? That’s what you said right,” Svenja asks, as she looks up at you, her face a million different colors in the rare light show. “You have a gift for understatement, Mr. Kostov.”

I think it's significantly cheaper for strikeout to just recruit individuals after they've been raised, educated and distinguished themselves rather than pay for all that crap and hope to get lucky enough that one or two of any given hundred kid vat-batch is worth actually training to be a merc. Plus you're blowing the mechanical barriers tomprocreation out of proportion, all kids are vat grown these days.

“Hmmm, I don’t know,” you say, turning to face Svenja and giving her a languid look up and down (the girl really does have a nice body for a desk jockey with a sweet tooth. Not as firm and muscular as Valk’s but certainly nowhere close to fat either) “To be fair,” you say, locking eyes with her own blues, “the nebula is only the second most beautiful thing in the view right now.”

Svenja looks down and away, clearly abashed. You take a step forward, back bent, leaning lower and towards her. Your hands grab her gently by the shoulders and Svenja looks up at you, eyes hungry. Your lips press together, mouths interlocking hungrily. You gently pull Svenja into closer to you, her own impressive chest pressing into yours. eventually the two of you break your mouths apart. Your breath mixes together, your lips only a few inches apart.

“Ivan. I’m cold.”

Your hands instantly go to work on Svenja’s dress, and as they work, you speak. “There are ways to resolve such an issue. We were taught about it in basic,” The dress slides away from her shoulders, revealing an incredibly tempting hourglass figure. “it involves a extensive skin to skin contact.”

Immediately Svenja’s own hands are busy too, working off your shirt. She gasps as it falls away, revealing your glorious pecs to the kaleidoscopic light show. Her hands rest against your chest for a few long seconds, gently moving in circles. Then they begin their descent down to your waist, followed by her head.

“Oh my… I guess I’ll have to be extra careful not to have a repeat of dessert.”

You are now Svenja Weiss. You are generally acknowledged as a ‘good girl’ outside of a brief rebellious phase at uni. Hell, even then you never did anything worse than consume some frowned upon substances. You work in Human Resources for crying out loud! If there’s any single vocation that would scream stickler, working as a Human Resources Advisor is easily top five. Therefore that dream you had last night involving you advisee, the strapping Ivan Parkas Kostov, easily the most vivid one yet, was slightly worrisome. You’d hate to violate sexual harassment codes…

Well normally anyway. You’d love to violate them with him. As a result of this inner conflict you spend a few minutes lying in bed, eyes screwed shut, trying to remember very delicious detail of that dream, from the date to the nebula to… well now. You’re not sure where your subconscious got so many creative positions from.

Still, it must have been quite the vivid dream, because you haven’t ever woken up quite so well rested or satisfied in a very long time… or ever to be completely honest. You lie still, drinking in the moment, your eyes still blissfully shut.

That’s when you feel the covers shift. Your body immediately performs some sort of odd panicked spasm, and you roll off of the bed, landing with a soft thump on the floor below, padded by a bundle of covers. Trembling with shock you rest a hand on the side of the bed and pull yourself up into a sitting position, peeking out onto your bed. Honestly, this isn’t the first time your arm fell asleep or something and it’s movement star-

Oh…

Oh my.

You pull yourself up onto the bed, quite startled by the implications of a naked Ivan in your bed. You stare at him for a moments. Somehow, he’s more glorious than you had even dared to imagine, even after seeing him in that deliciously tight enviro-suit and ohhhhh-

You need to touch them. They’re right there, just staring at you. You can see them rise and fall as Ivan takes deep sleeping breaths, as it should be if one wishes to full aerate one’s lungs. Oh god what are you thinking about right now? Proper breathing techniques? Well, who can blame you? Somehow Ivan manages to perform that to perfection too. You reach out a trembling hand entirely unsure if this is real life. God, the muscles are perfectly aligned, as rare and perfect as all eight of the planets of sol falling into alignment. You bite down on your lower lip, hard. Ouch! Well that basically confirms that this isn’t a dream… and Ivan hasn’t disappeared either, so you suppose that he really is here, in your bed.

In your bed.

Oh god. You could probably touch those abs right now and… well taking a look at the large number of red splotches on them, it seems you did a good deal more than just touch them. Steeled by the knowledge that you’ve done quite a bit more than touch Ivan’s abs your hand reaches out, fingers brushing lightly against the muscles. You inhale deeply and shakily. Oh god. Oh god you’re actually doing this. The elbow your supporting yourself on shakes a little and your hand slides down Ivan’s body, trying to keep yourself upright.

You pant, hot air blowing across Ivan’s midriff. That’s when you notice that your hand is touching something rather different than Ivan’s abs. You look down at it, utterly shocked.

Oh my.

Oh my.

O-

You would like nothing better than to stand in place and breathe heavily. Somehow after that round two, and Ivan’s incredibly rapid transition from happily asleep to happily fucking your brains out, it seems appropriate. Alas, you have other things to take care of, like finding your darling Barchen. You honestly have no idea where she would be if she wasn’t on your bed. You must have hidden her so she wouldn’t be traumatized by seeing what sort of excitement you and Ivan got yourselves into.

You end up finding Barchen sitting on top of one of your shelves, a sunny yellow sock tied around her eyes and ears. You gently unbind the stuffed dog and give her a hug. “I’m so glad you weren’t on the floor Barchen,” you whisper into the dog’s ear.

Realizing that if Ivan stepped out of the shower right now and saw you talking to your stuffed dog he might be a little weirded out, you put Barchen back on top of your bed and hurry into the kitchenette and busy yourself making some sort of breakfast for you and Ivan. You figure that after the massive workout that well you at least got last night, some retroactive carb loading might be in order.

But what carbs shall you load?

You suppose you might as well just stick with the classic pancakes and eggs. After all, it’s not like you’re really in the right mental state to do anything really complicated. You remove Ivan’s shirt, as you’d feel terrible if you got something like egg or grease splattered on it and there was a stain. You fold Ivan’s shirt up and leave it on the foot of the bed, before dazedly sliding an apron on and getting to work. As the oil in the pan makes happy crackling noises you pour pancake batter down. You decided to integrate some bananas and chocolate chips into this batch. It seemed like a nice addition. The smell and sound of pancakes frying settles you immensely, and soon you’re pretty close to your level of alertness, albeit much more relaxed than usual. You slide into a zen state of food preparation, utterly blind and deaf to anything beyond the stovetop.

Just as you’re about to flip the pancakes, something wraps around your waist. You gasp, but barely manage to resist the urge to bean whatever is behind you with a pan. That’s when Ivan’s gentle lips press against your neck. You suffer chills almost instantly, your knees weak as you feel steely muscles press into your back.

“Mmmm,” murmur’s Ivan into your ear, his breath hot yet also very minty, “Did I just get out of the shower to a beautiful woman cooking breakfast in just an apron? Tell me I’m not dreaming.”

You turn around slightly and kiss Ivan on the lips. “You’re not. Now go sit down, I’m making pancakes.”

Ivan complies and takes a seat at the kitchenette table. after a few minutes of pleasant silence, you remove the last bunch of pancakes from the stove and load up two large plates of food. Taking a seat across from Ivan you watch in awe as he begins to devour your breakfast with prodigious speed.

An unnaturally wicked thought occurs to you. You’d like to say it, but there’s no way you’d actually play a prank so audacious. Besides, it’s not like it’s possible for him to have gotten you with child so suddenly anyway. No, honestly, it’s a little ridiculous. Besides, he’d just assume that you had a gestation pod rented out at one of the on-station clinics and-

You can’t help yourself. You giggle at your own wild train of thought. Something about your encounters with Ivan must have relaxed your normally tightly wound consciousness, because that was quite the stream that just occurred. You glance over at Ivan’s plate a giggle again. The number of pancakes that he has consumed so far is truly mind boggling. “So, Ivan. I assume that you are enjoying my cooking?”

Ivan swallows with visible effort before responding. “You’re goddamn right I am. This shit is delicious.”

You blush with pleasure and smile, looking down at your chest.

Your bare chest. Well bare except for the apron… ohmygod that’s all you’re wearing right now.

“Eeeep,” you squeak, standing up quickly and disappearing into your room, where you slap on some clothing. Eventually you return to the table, where Ivan is waiting, an amused expression on his face once more. “Really now,” he says, looking you up and down, “I didn’t think it would be such a bother for you after last night… and this morn-”

“Oh my look,” you say, interrupting Ivan before he can make your face any more red, “The mission selection for your has just come in.”

“Oh wow, really,” asks Ivan, leaning back in his chair languidly. You’d like to point out that he could tip over and fall and break his head open, but then you remembered that Ivan’s head is probably harder than the floor of the Brick. “What sort of lineup do we have?”

Tell him all of them, but recommend Chicken Little was Right. When he goes for Sour Oracle, look kind of sad, and ask about how Bitter Prophet went, and that not knowing is eating us up inside.
>>
>>31774939

Oh baby, supporting >exposition.
>>
>>31774939
This. Svenja's been really down about that, and we might as well ask the question...
>>
>>31774939
I love it. Thirding.
>>
>>31774939
Absolutely this.
>>
>>31774939
Yes. Exposition ho!

Just in case y'all hadn't noticed: we're on page 10 here.

Did anyone archive the thread on sup/tg/ yet?

You could always check yourself but, no, they haven't as of this post.
>>
You quickly rattle off all of the missions, resisting the urge to keep Sour Oracle to yourself. You figure that Ivan will find out about it anyway and besides… he did ask for you to be more honest about these sorts of things. Ivan listens to your words carefully, nodding at appropriate intervals. After you finish speaking he sits back, arms crossed. “Well alright then Svenja. Which one would you recommend?”

You consider the questions for a few moments before speaking up. “Well I think Chicken Little Was Right is a pretty cute name! Besides, it seems pretty straight forward and would mesh with your skill set well. You need to bring down an orbital platform, and you are a technical specialist! That sort of thing should be right inside of your comfort zone!”

Ivan nods, his countenance dark. You just know what he’s about to say… “I appreciate your honesty Svenja, but I’ll be going on Sour Oracle.”

You wince. You just knew it. “Ivan... I- I’m not sure if that’s a good idea. I mean… there’s obviously a lot of bad memories there and revisiting them might not be the best idea…”

Ivan’s face looks like it was carved out of granite. His eyes burn with some sort of terrible cold determination. You look at his grim countenance and sigh. “What happened on Bitter Prophet Ivan? I still don’t know. I don’t know if I want to know, but not knowing is eating my up from the inside.”
>>
Ivan’s expression softens for a second and he seems about ready to reach out to you before he stops himself. He makes some sort of unhappy, derisive noise. “Keh. I’ll keep this short and spare you the details. Some fucks infiltrated a BiodYne clinic on a new colony world. Inserted a huge gene mod into the scheduled therapies. Turned all the patients into fucking cannibal regenerating mutants. Killed everyone. We came in to investigate, I don’t think I need to tell you how it turned out. Utterly terrifying, wandering around some pitch black facility surrounded by death. The entire thing was a gigantic fiasco.”

You flinch. Somehow you now there’s more he isn’t telling you. Somehow, you know you don’t want to hear it. “Ivan… I’m not sure if putting yourself in a situation where you will remember such trauma is a good ide-”

“I remember Bitter Prophet anyway,” Ivan responds tersely. “Even if I’d like nothing better than to forget it, I still remember. I’m tired of thinking about all those dead… civilians. I’m tired of thinking about how the bastard responsible got away. I want to remember making him pay for what he did. I want revenge, I want closure, I want justice.”

You wince once more. You really didn’t think that… no. No you should have expected something like this. “Okay Ivan,” you say, acquiescing to his wishes, “I’ll set you up to drop on Sour Oracle.”

You sigh and deflate slightly. You feel just terrible over what happened to your merc. He’s such a good person, he doesn’t deserve to have bad things like this happen to him. No one does. But especially not Ivan. He really is just too sweet and good natured and kind to have to pu-
>>
Ivan’s mouth covers your own for a few blissful seconds, terminating that line of thought rather abruptly. Eventually he pulls away, hands still cupping your face. “Thanks Svenja. Thanks for breakfast, thanks for last night. Thanks for this morning in fact!”

You look up into Ivan’s beaming face, all hint of his earlier mood gone. “I need this. Thank you for letting me have it.”

You look up at him, slightly nonplussed. “Of course Ivan,” you murmur.

“Well I’ve got some prep work to do,” says Ivan, stretching in place and gathering up his things. “I’ll see you soon Sven! I need to resupply and look at some new augments!”

And with that, he’s gone.

Alright, and that's all he wrote folks. Sorry about the abrupt ending, But I'm getting tired.

Next thread on Tuesday.

Will lurk for however long the thread is up to do Q&A or chat.
>>
>>31775698
>Q&A
that's not gonna last very long
>>
>>31775698

Thanks for running FG, this thread was so full of cute and lewd I can't wait to get back in the shit just to survive and experience this again.
>>
>>31775698
I want you to write and publish a series of novels with Ivan as the MC.
I also want to make sweet love to you
bodacious thread, looking forward to tomorrows
>>
>>31775698
Brilliant thread bro.

So who are we going to be dropping with for this mission?
>>
>>31775775
Not sure about the other two, but Marlena for sure. She's pissed.

>>31775758
hahaha thank you anon

>>31775755
Awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. I've been practicing SoL, as you are all well aware, and I hope it's paying off

>>31775742
So long as it's up, I'll be here
>>
>>31775937
I'm hoping that I get to see how poorly Marlena and Elda get along on this one.

Anyway, FG, besides the Himawari Force, are you working on any other new recruits for us to train? And will there be any ship to ship combat eventually?
>>
>>31775937
Is the next thread going to be time for Ivan to pull out some good tactics again?
>>
>>31775937
Just how awkward is it for you to lewd in this quest for us?
>>
>>31776025
Not at the moment, but I will at some point. Ship to Ship will involve me addressing some hairy technical issues in the setting fluff, but I imagine it will come about at some point.

>>31776047
Every mission is a good mission for tactics, but I think this one might be more along the lines of a cathartic curbstomping

>>31776091
Somewhat? Positive responses make it easier to do.
