You are a young human doctor, abducted by the K'tulu, and recently released by demand of the Galactic Senate. You're in the midst of a pirate raid on the transport ship that is supposed to be taking you to Velik Leis, and are currently battling your way through the chaos to reach Tobias and Lizzie's room, where you will hopefully meet up with Angelicia as well.

"WARNING, WARNING: LIFE SUPPORT HAS CEASED FUNCTIONING ON DECKS 1, 3, AND FIVE. RECOMMEND IMMEDIATE EVACUATION FROM AFFECTED AREAS."

Multiple alarms ring out as another explosion rips through the ship while you sprint the last few meters towards Tobias' room, sending you tumbling roughly into the bulkhead next to his door. You're about to try and swipe the card Lizzie gave you when you suddenly catch the sound of shouting from the other side of the barrier. You can't make out what's being said, but you can tell that whoever is yelling is less than happy with the response they get, as another round of bickering sounds out, this one louder than the last.

You have no idea who might be in there with your friends...it's possible that Angelicia made it to them before you did, and she's the one that's yelling, but if that's the case then why didn't she contact you through your comm system? You're also concerned that it could be somebody with less than altruistic intentions in there, maybe pirates managed to get in to the room? If that's true then you might only have a limited time before they decide to hurt one of your friends...though if you go rushing in there you could start a panic, regardless of who it is that's shouting. What do you want to do?

>Knock on the door, see if anybody answers it?
>Just open the door, walking as casually as you can to avoid causing a panic.
>Open the door and rush in with your rifle raised. If you're moving hard and fast maybe you can catch whoever is shouting off guard.
>Try to contact one of your friends through your communicator. If you do this, then who do you want to call?
>Write-in.

You take a deep breath and let it out before stepping forward and swiping the card through the reader, just as you'd planned to in the first place. Your heart feels like it's trying to pound it's way out out of your chest as the door opens however, largely thanks to your helmet, nobody nobody would be able to tell if they were watching you walk casually into the apartment. "Alright, now what's all the shouting about?" You ask evenly while your eyes sweep across the room.

Your breath catches and you stumble to a stop, however, when you take in the sight before you. A wild-eyed man is standing with his back against the wall in the kitchen, one arm raised to aim a submachine gun in your direction while the other is wrapped tightly around Lizzie's throat. A glance to your right reveals Tobias standing stock still, his own arm raised with his pistol aimed at the man holding his sister hostage. "S-stop right there, alien!" He cries wildly, waving the weapon in your direction, before pointing it at Tobias, "A-and you too, tin man! Drop the weapon!"

"Hello, Jack..." Tobias says, the mechanized tone of his voice hiding any emotion he may be feeling at the moment.

"Hey, Tobias..." You manage to reply numbly, your blood running cold at the sight in front of you while your mind races in an attempt to figure out what you should do.

>Ask what's going on here. Try to remain as calm as possible.
>Tell the man to drop the weapon and let Lizzie go. There's no need for things to get violent.
>Raise your rifle at the man and give him an ultimatum. He can let the girl go, or you can shoot him.

Looks like it's a toss up between telling him to drop the weapon and raising your own rifle, so we'll narrow it down to those two. Oh, and also the lightbulb thing.

To tell him to drop his weapon and let Lizzie go calmly post 1.

>24, 10, 20, against DC 17 Regular Success.

An eerie calm comes over you as your eyes narrow behind your helmet, "You had better listen to me very carefully, sir, because I'm not going to say this again. If you do not drop your weapon and let that little girl go right now, then I promise you that I will NOT kill you. I will ensure that you survive whatever her brother does to you so that I can take my turn with you. And I assure you that, unlike him, I am a medically licensed professional and the first thing I do, after making sure that you do not pass out from blood loss or suffer such traumatic brain injury that you can't understand what's happening to you, will be to stick the biggest and most painful lightbulb I can find up your rectal cavity and make sure that it shatters into a million little shards." You tell him, your voice taking on a clinical tone, "Now, let...the girl...go."

The man stares with his mouth agape, horror clear in his eyes as he takes in what you tell him. Even Tobias is looking at you with a small amount of discomfort, something you didn't think was possible for him until now. Finally, just before you think he might be going to call your bluff, he lowers his gun and releases his grip on Lizzie's throat, freeing her to scramble away from the madman before he can change his mind. Despite his following your directions, the man still seems terrified of you as he cowers in the kitchen, "P-please...just let me go. I done what you asked, so just let me go!" He whimpers to you pathetically.

You notice that Tobias is still pointing his pistol at him and, while you still have your rifle pointed downwards, it wouldn't take much for you to take aim at him either. You could let Tobias do whatever he wants with him, after all it was his sister that he took hostage, or you could kill him yourself. Of course he is right, he did do what you said, and while the man disgusts you, you do have to account for the fact that Lizzie is still here. Do you really want to kill a man in cold blood in front of her?

>Let Tobias shoot him, if he wants. He deserves what's coming to him.
>Kill him yourself. This man is a danger to society.
>Let him go. There's nothing to be gained from killing him, and you don't want to expose Lizzie to that sort of thing if you can avoid it.

Hey just got here, gotta catch up, but next time put a link to the thread in the tweet! You were on page 5 when I found this.
>>
You narrow your gaze at the man, "I should let her brother kill you..." You tell him coldly, before shaking your head in disgust and moving out of the doorway, motioning for him to get going. "The only reason I'm not is because you didn't make me say it twice and I don't want her to have to see that kind of thing. Now get out of here, and I swear that if I ever see you near that little girl again then I will make good on my promise."

The man's eyes widen as he stares at you in shock, as if he hadn't really expected you to let him go, before hastily nodding "Y-you won't see me again, I promise!" He replies shakily, before and rushing out the door.

You blow out a heavy breath, yours shoulders sagging as the door closes behind the man, you're about to turn to look at your friends when you feel a small body slam into your gut, little arms wrapping tightly around your waist. Your eyes travel down to look at the little girl clutching you now, tears spilling freely down her cheeks as you look up at you, "That man was really scary, Doc!" Lizzie cries, hiccuping before continuing, "He said he needed to save me from Tobias, but he was just shouting and being really mean!"

The revelation that the man was trying, in his own insane way, to help Lizzie strikes you violently and leaves you feeling slightly hollow inside that you're not even a week out and your people are already fighting amongst themselves at the first sign of danger. However, now is not the time to think about that. You have a ship crawling with pirates and a traumatized little girl to deal with. The sound of Tobias taking a few steps towards you brings you back to the present, he seems to be looking at you with a small amount of concern and while you're initially not sure what it's about, you quickly understand as he speaks up. "I appreciate your help, Jack, but...where's Angelicia?"
(1/2)
>>
You swallow thickly, "You mean she hasn't contacted you yet?" You ask, fear welling back up within your chest as he shakes his head.

"No, we had no clue where either of you were. We thought you were together."

Crap...you haven't heard from her either. She should have been able to get her gear by now and, while you don't know what kind of obstacles she's dealing with, you're pretty sure it shouldn't have taken her this long to get here. What are you going to do? You note that Lizzie is still clutching your waste like it's a lifeline, and she only seems to be crying harder at the news that you don't know where your friend is either.
>Try to calm the girl down. You're not going to be able to accomplish anything if she's panicking.
>Set Lizzie off to the side and talk to Tobias. You need to figure out what you're doing right now.
>Try to contact Angelicia. Maybe she just got held up somewhere and is on her way now?

Lizzie squeezes your waist and lets out a terrified whimper as another explosion rocks the ship, though thankfully it's much smaller than the previous ones and only shakes you instead of send you to the floor. You take a couple calming breaths before gently running your hand through the little girl's hair, doing your best to distract her from the chaos taking place around her. "Hey, shhh, come on, Lizzie. I need you to calm down, please." You tell her, dropping down to a knee and taking off your helmet in order to look her in the eye. "You need to be brave right now, okay? I know that things are really scary right now, but it's going to be okay. You've got your big brother here to watch over you, and I'm her, and soon Angelicia will be here too. Nobody's going to hurt you, honey."

A loud sniffle comes from the girl as she tries to wipe the tears away from her face, to little effect. "But, I'm scared, Doc...Angel isn't here and she doesn't have anybody to help her..." She chokes out, making your own throat constrict slightly as she puts a voice to the very fears that you've been having since sending her to get her gear.

Despite the way your stomach is nervously trying to tie itself in knots you manage to force a small smile on to your face, "You know what Angelicia told me when we split up?" You ask, receiving a curious look in response as she shakes her head, "She told me that she's a big girl, and knows how to take care of herself. And I think that if I could make it here by myself, then she can too, after all she's the one that was a soldier, not me. Right?"

Lizzie sniffs loudly again, tears still flowing from her eyes, though they're coming a little less strongly now, "Well...yeah..." She replies, "But I'm still scared for her..."

>>
"That's okay. It's okay to be scared, sometimes, Lizzie. But you can be scared and brave at the same time." You tell her gently, before moving both hands to her shoulders, "Okay...now I'm going to go try to call Angelicia, to see what's taking her so long. I need you to do whatever your brother tells you to, okay? You know that he'll do whatever it takes to protect you. Can you do that for me?"

The little girl nods timidly, giving you one more tight hug, before letting go and making her way over to her brother, who seems to be picking up where you left off, now that she isn't attached to your hip. You let out a heavy sigh and turn away to walk into the kitchen, tapping the communicator button on your translator as you do so. "Call, Angelicia."

The device beeps an affirmative sound in your ear before letting out a low-pitched buzz as it tries to connect to your friend's communicator. The annoying tone repeats itself four times before finally you hear a high beep, followed by the sound of gunfire erupting on the other side of the line. "JACK!? Where are you?"

A tangible sense of relief flows through you at the sound of the mechanic's voice, even if it is accompanied by obvious combat. "Angelicia! Thank god...I'm at Tobias and Lizzie's room. There were a couple issues, but I managed to take care of it. What about you? I expected you to get here by now." You reply quickly, apprehension filling your voice as your mind imagines the possible answers she could give you.

"You managed it then? Good, I-" Angelicia's voice cuts off as it's drowned out by a large explosion on her end, followed by several curses flying over the channel from her, "Fuck! Damn it, Jack, I'm on deck four right now, the bastards forced me to fall back up here." She's interrupted by another explosion, as well as several panicked shouts in the background. It's hard for you to make out what they're saying, but you think you hear an alien shouting something about a 'psi', though you're not sure.

Before you can think too much about what the meaning behind their cries are, you realize that the line has suddenly gone eerily silent, aside from Angelicia's heavy breathing. "Angelicia?! Are you alright? Say somethi-"

You're interrupted mid-word with an out of breath laugh, "Yeah, Doc, I'm good now." She replies taking several more deep breaths before continuing, her voice serious once again, "Look, Doc, something's wrong here..." You start to interrupt her to tell her that of course something's wrong, but she cuts you off, "No, just listen to me! These pirates, I don't think they're just here to raid the ship. If they were then they'd be taking prisoners to sell as slaves, that's what the codex says, anyways. But that's not what they're doing, as far as I can tell they've killed everybody they've came across except for regular crew-members. The ones that I was just fighting said something about them taking all of them to the bridge...I think they're taking them there to execute them or something."

You shake your head in confusion, clearly not following whatever line of logic it is that she's pursuing. "What are you getting at here, Angelicia? You know what, it doesn't matter. Try to get back down here to us. I can come and meet you half way if you want."

"I'm not coming back there right now, Jack. What I'm saying is that I'm pretty sure that somebody hired these guys to kill everybody on this ship, and if that's true then they're not going to stop at just executing the crew, they'll probably try and blow up the ship too. It's the only way to make sure there aren't any survivors."

>>
"What?! That's insane?! Who would have hired them to do something like that?!" You ask, though the more you think about it, here is a certain group that you could think that might want all of the passengers on the ship wiped out. Still, you're more worried about the other thing she said. "What do you mean you're not coming back here? Where exactly are you planning to go? Just hang out in the hallway?"

"Of course not, you idiot!" The anger you hear in her voice surprises you, "I'm going to go to the bridge. Whatever these bastards are planning, it's obviously going to happen there." She pauses for a moment, as if considering something before continuing. "You know, Doc, if you managed to get there all by yourself in this mess, then I could really use your help..."

You open your mouth to reply, before stopping yourself, not really sure what you're going to say to her. You consider trying to convince her to come back, though she seems pretty adamant about doing this with or without you. Of course on the other hand her theory does have some merit, and if she's right then hiding in the room won't do you or your friends any good. Maybe you should go with her?

You feel a heavy weight descend upon your shoulders as you sigh in defeat, shaking your head. "Fine...I'll be there as soon as I can. Where are you?" You ask quietly, glancing into the living room where you see Lizzie sitting on the couch, her arms wrapped tightly around Tobias as runs one hand through her hair while pointing his pistol towards the door with the other.

"Like I said, we're on deck four, near the commons area. We'll hunker down here until you reach us." She replies, her voice filled with relief at your decision to join her, though you can't help but pause at her words.

"Wait, we? I thought you were alone." You say, your confusion carrying through to your voice.

"Ah, no...I ran into a couple of people on the way. They came to the same conclusion I did and we decided that we'd stand a better chance of not dying horribly if we teamed up." She explains, "Look, we'll talk more about this later, but right now I need to go. Call me when you get close, or if you need help."

Before you can say anything else you hear a click as she disconnects her comms, leaving you listening to a dull buzz until you finally tap your ear with a sigh while walking into the living room. "Alright guys, I managed to get a hold of Angelicia. She says-"

"I know, Jack, I heard." Tobias cuts you off, "...You're going to go and help her?"

You nod grimly. "Can't see that I have much choice. If she's right then the only way any of us are going to survive this is for us to try and stop whatever their plan is. If she's wrong then she'll need help anyways, and if we win then the raid will be over." You offer him a reluctant shrug as he nods, "Like I said, it's the only real option."

It looks like Tobias understands where you're coming from. Lizzie looks scared, still, but at least her tears have stopped, and you doubt that she's going to break down again unless something catastrophic happens. You start to move towards the door before stopping and looking back at them again, remembering that Tobias was one of the people that was given a scarf by the pro-human community within the K'tulu. Clearly he's competent in a fight, though if you asked him to come with you, you'd either have to be dragging Lizzie into a firefight or leave her on her own during a pirate raid.
>Ask Tobias to come with you. Bring Lizzie along as well.
>Ask Tobias to come with you while Lizzie hides in the apartment.

Lizzie bites her lip fearfully as she watches you put your helmet back on and secure the seals before looking to Tobias. "You've got my contact info. Call me if anything happens, and I'll try to get back here as soon as I can." You say before making your way towards the door. "I know that you're competent, but still be careful, Tobias. I'll call you on your comm if I need to get back in, and I'll tell Angelicia to do the same. Don't let anybody other than us in." You finish, more for Lizzie's sake than Tobias'.

The cyborg nods in understanding, "Of course. You be careful too, Jack. It would be unfortunate if I had to find another doctor for Lizzie." He replies, forcing a small laugh from you.

"I'll keep that in mind." There's a heavy pause as the door slides open. You look back at the pair of them one last time before stepping outside, the sound of the door sealing shut behind you seeming almost like the clang of prison bars, only instead of being stuck on the inside, you're trapped outside with the psychopaths.

A few moments pass as you take some heavy breaths and try to recall the exact layout of the ship. From what you remember the main elevator to the different decks on the ship is to the right. It's not very far away, though you expect that if the pirates are trying to control traffic through the ship then that will probably be the first place they put up sentries. You remember that there's also a stairwell that will take you to all of the decks though. That's to the left...it's further off and it'll probably take you a lot longer to get to deck four, since you're two floors down, but it might be safer that way. Then again, you have to wonder if anywhere on this ship is safe right now.

You weigh your options, considering the elevator for a few moments before shaking your head and taking off at a quick jog to the left. You're almost certain that if you tried to force your way through to the elevator you'd waste more time than you'd gain by using the damned thing, and even if you did get there without being attacked you still don't know if it would even work. After all, there is a reason why you're not supposed to use an elevator during an emergency, and you're pretty sure this qualifies.

You're probably about half way to the stairs when you hear shots ringing out to your right, followed by a cry of pain and a couple of angry shout from a group of aliens, if the strange mix of voices is anything to go by. Your head whips around to try and find the origin, quickly pinpointing the source of the disturbance when you see two pirates, one of them is still shouting and is pointing in your general direction, while the other is busy shooting in the direction of a figure that is wearing a scarf similar to yours like a shroud and holding what looks like a spear. It's impossible to miss the two aliens lying on the ground near them, one o them still trying to crawl away, back towards it's commrades, only to cry out in pain one final time as the figure hurls it's weapon into it's back lodging it there.

While the person being attacked by aliens is clearly competent in a fight, it looks like they're unnarmed now, while the two aliens still in the fight are armed with an assault rifle and a shotgun. You're pretty sure that if you don't help them then they're not going to make it out of this alive. On the other hand, you DO need to get up to deck four as quickly as possible.

Use the rifle, take some potshots to try to kill em and then run to cover.

It doesn't matter how much of a hurry you're in, this person needs your help, an it's obvious that they know what they're doing too, from the evidence you have to work with anyways. You tear down the corridor, snapping the rifle you picked up from your last 'patient' to your shoulder and taking aim, smoothly squeezing off several rounds before sliding forward into cover behind a room-service cart that has been turned over on it's side. "Alright, fuckers, I'll give you one chance to leave before I fill you with holes!" You shout at the pirates, over the sound of your target's shield overloading from the rounds you put down range.

The aliens shout angrily at you, though you're not quite able to make out what they're saying, as the scarfed figure you saw earlier sprints in your direction, only to be forced to dive into cover again when the pirates renew their attack. Your teeth clench in frustration at the development, though decide that it's not the worst thing that could happen, at least both of you are still uninjured, as far as you know, and you know that at least one of the aliens' shields are down.

You expect that the pirates will probably try to press their attack, now that they have both of you pinned down. You figure that you could probably hunker down and try to wait it out until you see an opening, or maybe provide over-watch in case one of them tries to rush you.
>Hunker down and wait it out.

>20, 20, 11: Regular success.

You hear the bullets whiz over your head and slam into your cover, it's obvious from the way that they're firing that they're desperate to take you out of the fight as quickly as possible. Even over the din of combat, though, you manage to hear one of the pirates yell for the other one to advance on you. The second the rifle fire ceases you lean out of your cover, drawing your sights down on the shot-gun toting alien who's rushed from his cover in an attempt flush you out.

The rifle in your hand roars as you pull the trigger, holding it down for several seconds, sending your own bullets soaring towards your enemy, overloading his shield and tearing through his body, creating several new holes. The pirate roars in a mixture of anger and pain as he stumbles forward onto his hands and knees next to the cover your ally has taken up, dropping his shotgun in the process. While you see the figure dart out cover for a few seconds, and hear the roaring report of the weapon, you don't see what became of your injured enemy, as the second he went down the remaining alien started firing again, sending several rounds slamming into your shields and forcing you back into cover.

Your HUD flashes dangerously at you, informing you of the sudden drop in shield integrity, though you're thankful that it does at least hold up, for now anyways.
>Shield strength at 45%

The only pirate left now is the alien that's started firing at you again. You know that his shields are down, and that your ally has the fallen enemy's shotgun, so you could try and take them out regardless of whether or not they're shooting at you, or you could wait for them to let up or retreat, or maybe you could get your ally to cover you so you can advance or fall back? Either way, it looks like you had better decide what you're going to do fast, because the cart you're crouching behind doesn't look like it's doing too well at this point.

You wait in cover for a few seconds, gathering your courage as you hear your enemy's rifle click as he runs out of ammo, drawing a terrified curse from the pirate as he fumbles to reload. Unfortunately for him, this is the exact opportunity you've been waiting for, and it appears that your ally feels the same way as the two of you emerge from your respective cover, weapons spitting rounds towards the alien that was either too proud or too stupid to run away from a fight that obviously wasn't in his favor. You wince as you hear the pirate let out a gurgling cry while he's filled with holes, the only mercy your bullets offering being a quick death, particularly when coupled with the slugs that the shotgun sends screaming into his torso.

There's a somewhat surreal moment of silence after the alien drops to the floor, though it's quickly broken when your ally turns to you, dropping their commandeered shotgun in the process. Now that you're close enough to take them in properly, and don't have bullets trying to burrow themselves into your skull, you're somewhat surprised to see that you actually recognize the figure or, rather the woman, that you just saved as the dark-skinned girl that Angelicia had spent some time talking to while you were waiting in the terminal. You never got the chance to speak to her yourself, but it's obvious that she recognizes you, or at least your armor anyways. "You are the doctor from the terminal, yes?"

You blink at the sudden question, somewhat surprised at the strong Israeli accent she exhibits, before slowly nodding in response. "Yes...how did you know I'm a doctor?" You ask, somewhat suspiciously, wondering if she'd been listening in on you while you were talking to Angelicia.

Your suspicions are confirmed as she shrugs, "I heard you speaking to the little girl and the robot." She explains simply, before dropping the shotgun and walking over to the alien that her spear is sticking from. "If you are a doctor, then will you help me? I have a friend that is hurt very bad. He was shot earlier...I'm not sure if he's still alive or not now, but I would greatly appreciate it if you would accompany me to him."

You sigh at the request, only slightly surprised to hear it as you bend over the pirate that had been toting the shotgun, stripping the surprisingly large amount of cylinders for the shotgun from his belt and pouches, before walking over to where the woman dropped the weapon they belong to. "How long has it been since he got shot? Did you give him any first aid yourself?" You ask, while offering the rifle to her as she walks back to you. She eyes it warily for a few moments before accepting it and slinging it over her shoulder. You're not sure what's so special about her spear, but apparently she'd prefer to use that first.

"It was about half an hour ago...I did try to make a tourniquet for him, but I do not have my med kit with me." She replies apprehensively as she watches you bend down retrieve the shotgun and check the cylinder that's currently in it, finding that it still has two slugs before you need to reload. You're surprised at how lovingly crafted the weapon looks, the chrome is polished to a shine and the wood on it is well maintained, though you're pulled from your admiration of your new gun when your ally speaks back up, a note of pleading sounding through her voice, "Please, doctor. I do not know this man well, but he has been good to me so far, and I do not wish to see him die because nobody was willing to help me."

Those, apparently, are the magic words, because they get you to turn back to her, a pained frown forming on your face, though to her you must just seem like an emotionless drone. You want to help her, truly, but you also know that you've already wasted precious time with this firefight and the conversation you're having right now. You suppose you could try to convince her to join you, she was pretty useful for being unarmed for most of the last fight, and you could use all the help you can get to get to Angelicia, and from there to the bridge. You'd probably have to be pretty convincing to get her to abandon her friend though, even if he is probably already dead.
>Go with her. You can't ignore this, even if you're pressed for time.
>Tell her you're sorry, but you can't help her right now, explain your situation.
>Apologize for the fact that you can't go with her, but give her your med-kit. She seems like she might have at least some experience with combat medicine.
>Tell her you're sorry, but don't bother to explain the situation to her. You don't have time right now.
>Try to convince her to join you. Explain why you're in such a hurry and that, if Angelicia is right, you could all be standing inside of a ticking time bomb.

Looks like helping her is the winner. Just making sure I understand, we're having her escort us and then we're meeting up with Angelicia, or are we sending her off on her own to get there while we get directions to her friend? You will probably waste time trying to find him if you're on your own.
>>
>>31772605
So, OP, about shields. How exactly do they work? They absorb energy? Try to stop anything moving at it at high velocity? Try to stop just plain anything and you have to turn them off when you're not in combat?

I don't know if you're familiar with Halo, but the way that the MJOLNIR armor's shielding works that it tries to just stop everything, but the shielding thins out over the soles of the feet and on the palms so you can still grip. But the shield doesn't do shit to protect your head unless you have your helmet on.
>>

You stare at the shotgun in your hands, your mind racing as you think about all the time you've already wasted while Angelicia holds down her position waiting for you. Despite that thought weighing heavily on your mind, you can't force yourself to ignore somebody who needs your help, especially if they're a good person, like this woman says. You blow out a heavy sigh, "Look, if I do this for you, then you have to do something for me." You tell her slowly, raising your head to look her in the eye.

The woman's gaze hardens at the words, though she nods in acceptance. "I will do anything, if it will get you to help that man."

Well, at least that means you won't have to argue with her then, "I'm glad to hear it. Look, I'm supposed to be making my way up to the common area on deck four. Angelicia has a group there waiting for me." You start, noting her raise an eyebrow at that.

"The American girl with the tattoos?" She asks incredulously, making your frown a little, though you do nod.

"Yes that's the one, I don't have time to explain, but she thinks that the pirates might be planning to blow up the ship. She's putting together a plan to assault the bridge and I need to get there, but if I'm going to go and help your friend then I need you to promise that you'll get moving immediately to get here. I'll tell her you're coming, so that she doesn't think you're an enemy."

Her face softens somewhat at the explanation, apparently realizing why exactly you were so conflicted about helping her. "Of course. I will head there right away." She says, tapping her communicator. For a moment you're curious as to what she's doing, before blinking in surprise as the contact info for Freida Levy appears on your HUD, waiting for you to accept it before she nods assertively. "Thank you. Jacob isn't very far from here, he's in the restroom two halls down from here" With that she turns on her heel and runs towards the stairs, grabbing something from the bag at her hip as she does so.

I think we do, we used it to mend Angelica, then this shit went down on our way back to our rooms from that.

Good job with all the hard calls/moral dilemmas, OP.

Yes, we do. We were ABOUT to put it away in our room, but we got interrupted.

>>
While you're somewhat interested in what she's doing you decide that it's more important for you to get moving, both for her friend's sake and for the fact that you can practically feel the clock ticking down, and you don't want to see what happens when it gets to zero. You open up your comms to call Angelicia as you rush down the hall, praying that she picks up as you round a corner. Thankfully you hear the small beep confirming your connection seconds before her voice. "Doc, where are you? These guys are getting pretty antsy, and to be honest I'm not liking that they haven't tried to send anybody to attack us in a while either."

"I'm still on deck two, Angelicia, I-" Before you can even finish your sentence, your friend's voice rings loudly in your ear.

"You're what? Damn it, Jack, what have been doing down there?!" She cries, clearly trying to control her emotions, though she only has a small amount of success with it.

"I got into a firefight, Angelicia, I'm trying to hurry but right now I've got to patch up a guy in the bathroom down here." You hear her try to interrupt you, but you push through anyways, "Just listen, okay? I sent somebody up to help you, and I'll be up there as soon as I finish with this guy. No more distractions after this, I promise." You say hastily as you turn into the bathroom, silently hoping that you can keep that particular promise.

A frustrated sigh filters through the communicator, though it sounds more like she's upset at the situation than she is with you. "Fine, I understand, Jack, take care of that guy. But when you get done down there you had damn well better get your ass up here, or I'll kick it from one end of this ship to the other, assuming we don't all blow up first." She tells you seriously, before abruptly ending the call.

You feel frustration well up inside your chest as you scan the bathroom, before finally seeing a man who can only be Freida's friend sitting up against the wall. You're slightly surprised that he hasn't shouted or shot at you, but as you get closer you see that he's shaking and is absolutely drenched in sweat, as well as being unresponsive as you kneel down beside him and try to get his attention. It's not difficult at all to see where Freida tried to apply a tourniquet to his leg, but it must have came loose after she left. Given your extreme lack of time and his poor condition, there's not much you're going to be able to do for him aside from treating him for shock, stripping his pants off to apply a bandage to his wound, and maybe use one of your own tourniquets on him, though you only have one of those left in your kit.
>Treat him for shock, apply a bandage, and also retie his tourniquet. You're going to make double sure that he's okay.

He's not recovering consciousness anytime soon, and it's unlikely enough as-is that he'll survive. Either way, that limb is just going to come off.

The tourniquet will slow down the blood flow, the bandage will give it a place to stick and clot. Speaking of clotting, check the first aid kit for any of that powder that almost instantly clot the blood. He won't mind the sting. Lay him down, he's lost blood.

Looking over the man beneath you, you shake your head in amazement that he's lived even this long with the amount of blood he's lost. Within moments your hands are diving into your med kit, searching for your last remaining tourniquet and the thermal blanket packed within. It takes you significantly less time to slide the tourniquet up the man's leg and tighten it than it did the alien your last one was used on, seeing as how this one isn't squirming or shouting in pain. While you appreciate not having to fight to do your job, your heart falls at the fact that he's not even coherent enough to scream at you for doing this.

As soon as you finish cinching it you dab your finger in the man's blood, smearing a large T on his forehead followed by the current time, before turning to rip the blanket from it's packaging and spreading it out across the floor. You gently lay the man down on top of it and wrap it loosely around him before propping his feet up on the a small footstool you find under the sinks. With that done you stand up and grab your kit off the floor, shaking your head unsatisfied with how it turned out, but ultimately knowing that there's nothing else you can do right now. You hope, as you run out of the bathroom, that the man will make it through the raid, but you've got no illusions about his chances right now.

You sprint through the hallways as fast as you can, knowing that you're not far from the stairwell, but as far as you're concerned every minute that you aren't in the common area is another minute too long. When you finally reach the stairs you immediately access your comms and send Angelicia a message that you're on your way up and should be there in just a few minutes. Ultimately it only takes you about ten minutes to traverse the stairwell and when you bust through the door onto the fourth floor you're met with a hail of gunfire. Your eyes widen and you let out a cry of alarm as bullets pepper your shields, your HUD flashes brightly, warning you that you're only seconds away from losing that invaluable protection.

Thankfully, as you dive forward into an alcove on the opposite side of the hall you hear a familiar voice shouting angrily at whoever it was that was shooting at you. "CEASE FIRE! Cease fire, damn it, you son of a bitch! I told you not to shoot anybody who came through there until you had positive identification, that was our medic that you just unloaded on!" You stay huddled in your cover for a few moments as you listen to your friend ream the unknown gunman before finally turning her attention to you. "Are you okay, Jack? Please talk to me, at least say something!" She shouts to you, as she sprints over to you, panic clear in her voice when you don't immediately answer.

Finally, after managing to force your heart to stop trying to burst from your chest, you let out an uneven breath, offering her a smile despite the futility of it, "What, you afraid you're going to have to clean yourself up after getting yourself beat up next time?" You ask in the closest thing to an even voice that you can.

The sigh of relief that your friend blows out at your teasing is quickly covered up by a scoff, "Please, you were just trying to find an excuse to hang out with me earlier. Besides, Lizzie was the one that done all the work...and she has a much better bedside manner than you."

You let out a chuckle at that and are about to try and twist that into a 'clever' innuendo when you hear somebody else stomp over behind Angelicia. Stepping out of the alcove you cast a curious glance at who it is, only to frown as he butts his way into the conversation. "If you're done flirting with your boyfriend over here, Princess, maybe you'd like to get back to helping us put together our plan, yeah?" He grumbles in a gravely voice. It takes you a few moments to place where you recognize him from, but it does finally click when you remember him as the man that was cleaning his rifle in the terminal. Despite your annoyance at his interruption, you do nod at his point, you're here to stop the pirates not to chat with friends.

Angelica narrows her gaze at the man but nods as well, "Fine, you're right, Hans. Let's get back to it, unless you want to shoot at any more of my friends before we start?" She shoots back, her voice icy as she leads you towards the rest of the group. When you reach the center of the common area she turns to look at you over her shoulder, "You're welcome to help us put the plan together, if you want Doc. You made it this far on your own, so I trust your judgement, that said if you don't think you're up for it I'd appreciate it if you would go and stand guard. We need to keep an eye out and make sure that nobody tries to catch us by surprise." She says, motioning to the perimeter before making her way towards a table where you see Freida and the man that shot at you leaning over a table with a holo-map hovering above it. Looking to the perimeter you see several other men and women you don't recognize keeping a lookout.

>>
You raise an eyebrow at the choice before you. It sounds like Angelicia is willing to let you take something of a co-leadership position with the rest of the people at the table if you want. You doubt that Freida would argue with her, though from the way that man's looking at you right now, he may be a different story. Of course, if you think that you'd be better off just taking whatever orders they come up with, you could just keep a lookout.
>Join them at the table, contribute to the plan.

Well, you've done pretty well for yourself so far, managing to keep yourself and a few other people alive with your actions. As you take make your way over to the table, you see several of the people on the perimeter whispering about you to the people next to them, and pointing out your scarf as they do so. You think you might have seen a a girl with red hair moving amongst them and saying something to them, though you'd have no idea what it might be. Shaking the odd occurrence from your head, you concentrate on the task at hand which, at this moment, is to catch up with the rest of your group. "Oh so you finally decided to join us did you?" The man growls to you, though he falls silent when Freida shoots a glare at him.

Looking to Angelicia you see she has a smile on her face, apparently pleased that we decided to take her up on her offer. You nod at her shortly before sighing, "Alright, where are we at right now?" You ask shortly, launching a flurry of discussion between the group as they work to get you caught up with them.

As they fill in the puzzle pieces for you, you realize more and more that you definitely have your work cut out for you.
