You are ALICE. You were once a magical girl, but have now ended up having to hunt down your former comrades. As a member of the Magical Girl Hunter Bureau, it is your job to defend humanity from the Magical Menace!

You had recently just barely survived what amounted to a suicide mission to destroy the last bastion of Magical Girl resistance on Earth. You don't actually remember much though, aside from lots of stuff blowing up. Oh yeah, and Carol eating your left arm.

Then again, you kinda ordered her to, so it was technically more your fault than hers.

You groan as piercing white light sears your retinas. Blinking rapidly, you find yourself in the all too familiar sight of lying in a hospital bed, staring up at the white ceiling.

"Rise and shine, Alice." You hear a familiar, deadpan voice greet you.

"How long was I out?" You ask Egan.

"About sixteen hours." Egan says. "I guess that's what happens when you do something that costs you and arm and leg."

"Please, Egan, I don't have time for puns." You groan.

"Really? Because you're just handing me material here."

It was a rare time for Egan to go into pun mode. Usually when she felt you were doing something really stupid. Well, as irritating as it was, at least you knew it was a way of showing you she cared, in a roundabout way.

Still made you want to throttle her, though.

"What happened?" You ask. "I mean, not just after, but did the Council really want me dead that much?"

"Ummm, well.... that's probably something you'd want to ask Bruttenholm." Egan frowns. "But what I do know was that they didn't have extraction prepared for you because they thought it would be too dangerous to send in an extraction team. At least, that's what their reasoning was."

"Bullshit." You spit.

"Anyways, it's still too early to tell, but it looks like we won." Egan smiles. "Global M-Particle concentration is dropping rapidly, and all of the Magical Girls we have in captivity got depowered. I think we really did get them all."

"It's confirmed?" You blink.

"Well, during the bombardment, the ODIN strikes triggered a volcanic eruption shortly after you were evacuated, which is of course making cleanup operations a bit difficult. However, pretty much anything that wasn't on the coast is pretty much done for."

"Well, that's great and all, but it's not over yet." You sigh.

"It's not?" Egan raises an eyebrow.

"Has everybody but me forgotten about the Invaders?" You scowl. "One of these days, they're not going to conveniently send their monsters in one by one."

"Well, why are you saying this now?"

"Because things are starting to add up." You sigh. "Why were the Companions in such a hurry to contact their superiors? Why would they risk everything to concentrated themselves in one single location?"

"They weren't calling for reinforcements, they were requesting an evacuation." Egan's eyes widen a bit.

"Exactly." You nod. "So, whatever is coming our way, is nasty enough to make the Companions scurry for their little lives."

"That would seem to be the case." Loki purrs as he snuggles up on your pillow. You ignore him and keep your focus on Egan.

"That's some very serious stuff." Egan frowns. "And all I thought I would have to do was help you out with your arm."

"What about my arm? You Mary hasn't-" You tilt your head to the left and just see a bandaged stump. "GAAAAAH!"

"Yeah, when I said all the MGs in captivity got depowered, that was including Mary." Egan sighs. I DO have some alternatives, though."

"What kind of alternatives?" You ask suspiciously.

"Fortunately for you, medical science has progressed rather significantly in the past few decades." Egan says, showing you some pictures. "Your first alternative is an artificial prosthetic, which uses the latest in nerve feedback technology. It will be hardier and stronger than a regular arm, but obviously, it would ultimately be a prosthetic, not a true replacement."

"Uh huh." You frown.

"Your other option is a bit more... experimental." Egan sighs. "Carol felt really guilty about having to eat your arm to stay alive, so after she collected more biomass, she used the DNA she acquired from you to grow a new arm, using her own body as the incubator."

That was... touching and more than a little disgusting at the same time.

"We can attach the new arm to you, no problem, but ultimately, even if it's a perfect clone of your old arm, it will still have trace amounts of Invader DNA in it. We're... not sure how your body will react to it, or what the effects will be."

"Well, we're just full of optimism today." You roll your eyes.

"Or you can just stay with one arm and I keep making arm and hand puns at your expense until the day you die." Egan continues.

"Hey, as long as we're being experimental, we might as well go all the way." You snort. "Besides, if Carol really did go through all the effort of making it, I couldn't possibly refuse it."

"As expected." Egan nods. "I'll go make preparations. I believe Bruttenholm wants to speak with you, anyways."

"Thanks, Egan."

Egan just waves as she exits the room. As she leaves, Bruttenholm enters to take her place, and he takes a seat next to the bed. He just looks at you sadly before sighing.

"I'm sorry about everything, Alice."

"Hey, don't blame yourself, sir." You blink. "It's not like you gave the order to leave me hanging."

"No, but I should've seen the signs." He shakes his head. "With the war about to end, what better way to get rid of two inconvenient weapons than in a blaze of glory in the final battle?"

"I don't think they'd make it out to be so poetic." You laugh bitterly. "Though, to be honest, I can't blame them. Me and Carol aren't exactly what you call normal."

"You two have just as much a right to live as anybody else." Bruttenholm says adamantly.

Heh, it was kinda touching, really, to see people care so much about it. Even if you were a screwup.

"Actually, sir, we do still have a problem." You continue. "I've got reason to believe a massive Invader threat is incoming."

"I know, I heard." Bruttenholm nods. "I voiced this concern to the Council as well. They're skeptical, but have agreed to suspend the disbanding of the Bureau for another six months."

"That's not a lot of time." You frown.

"It's not. It's more a courtesy at this point. The problem is that we have no proof, and we have no way to get it."

"There is, actually...." You say. "But you're not going to like it."

"You mean the Apocalypse-Class Invader we have in captivity?" Bruttenholm grimaces.

You decide to go and try to find Carol. You had to make sure she was okay, after all, and she had to be worried sick about you. You have an idea of where she might be and you head straight to your quarters. Of course, the moment you open the door, you're nearly tackled by your adopted daughter.

"MOM!" Carol cries happily. "You're alright!"

"Ah, I guess I am." You can't resist laughing a bit."

"You.... you're not mad about the arm, are you?" She asks sheepishly.

"Oh what, this?" You glance at your empty left shoulder. "I've had worse. I heard you even grew a new arm for me."

"I did!" Carol nods. "It's, um, the first time I did something like that for someone else, but I did my best!"

"I'm sure you did." You smile. "Anyways, how have things been for you, lately?"

"A bit boring..." Carol frowns. "There's no Magical Girls left to fight, so there's not much to do. I mean, your friends are nice and all, but, I really want to spend more time on the ground!"

You're really not sure if the Council would allow that, though.

"Well, we'll think of something." You reassure her. "But either way, it's nice to see you're all right."

I just got this image of of most pathetic sad-drunk Alice ever. Once she gets drunk enough she becomes an absolute mess and spills years worth of spaghetti at once.

She'll try about always being the weird one in school, the weird on as a MG, having a disastrous love life, having to be the only one not killing humanity, having to constantly killing her friends, losing Leo to Egan, and now causing the total extinction of humanity. Just years worth of suppressed emotion uncovered at once.

And this my friends, is why Alice doesn't usually drink.
>>
>>31772801
>now causing the total extinction of humanity
This was going to happen no matter what. I wouldn't call those that would have been evac by Companions to be human anymore. That's for damn sure. So in no way should Alice even remotely trying to take the blame on that front.

>>31772528
"Wanna get piss drunk?" You say. "We can even invite over my childhood buddies and the other squad leads. It'll be a blast!"

"I seem to recall that you become a bawling wreck every time you get drunk." Leo frowns.

"Yeah, well, it's a special occasion."

"If you really do want it so bad." Leo sighs. "I'll go, if only to make sure you don't make an ass of yourself."

"Thanks!" You grin.

And just like that, everybody's assembled in the main lounge in what has to be one of the most awkward drinking parties ever. Your fellow squad leads are present, as well as Mirai, Kanako, and even Mary. For obvious reasons though, neither side seems willing to get too close to the other.

>>

You first decide to head over to the other squad leads. You see that most of them were present, except for Douchebag, but that was to be expected.

"Alice!" Antonio greets you as you approach. "The girl who singlehandedly won the war!"

"Well, I don't think what I did was THAT important..." You mumble, your cheeks beginning to redden.

"Nonsense!" Reginald says, a glass of brandy in his hand. "You showed some real stiff upper lip going down there! I'm happy to call you a comrade in arms. Erm, no pun intended."

"HOLY SHIT! So you really did lose an arm!" Scotty says a bit too loudly as she ogles your stump. "Does it hurt? Can I poke it?"

"No and HELL NO." You sigh.

Lucy and Ivan, being their typical quiet selves, hang in the back, but you see both of them toasting you with vodka glasses.

"I gotta admit, you did good down there, Alice." Dundee nods. "Might've put us all out of a job in the process, but I guess that's the price of peace, huh?"

"Ah, it's not like there's going to be any less fighting back on the ground!" Andre cackles. "If you want work, my army always has openings!"

"Um, thinks, but I think I'll pass." Dundee sighs.

You know, you never thought you'd say this, but you think that you might actually miss these guys once everything was over.

This. I mean do other SLs ever get briefed about about what the Companions were doing to the MGs.

Not that would change a whole lot of things. But it might give a little better perspective to the whole affair.
>>
>>31773538
This is the end of the first part of the war. We are going to be up to the bee's knees in Invaders sooner rather than later, so this is the only chance to get drunk like an asshole in front of everyone we care about.
>>

This.

We can gather the MGs and SLs since we were all manipulated by the companions.

We'll also need to break the bad news.
>>
>>31773501

Actually, that seems like a good idea. A toast of the dead for combatants on each side, MG and MG hunters alike. We are all now united in the death of mankind, like our fathers and their fathers before us. May mankind move past the wars behind us and may we survive the wars of our children.
>>
>>31773501
This is good.
>>
>>31773364
You see Mirai, Kanako, and Mary looking a bit left out and you motion them to come forward. They reluctantly move closer and you stand next to them.

"Now, everybody, I'm not sure if you know this or not, but these three here are ex-MGs, and my friends. As you should know by know, most MGs were brainwashed, and we managed to help these three break free from it. It'd be a really great personal favor to me if you could treat them as one of us."

"Well, if the crown could forgive the colonies, then I can forgive former enemies as well!" Reginald says, leading the charge.

"Wait." Lucy finally speaks up. "Have any of them ever actually drank before?"

Everybody's eyes then focus on the three girls, who seem to wither under the all the attention.

"Umm.. no." Mirai squeaks.

"Nu uh." Kanako shakes her head.

"I've, um, read about it..." Mary blinks.

You do NOT like the predatory smiles that suddenly formed on your fellow squad leads' faces.

"Well girls, it's time to introduce the three of you to the wonderful world of alcohol!" Antonio laughs.

"Isn't there a minimum drinking age?" Leo asks.

"We're in space. That's international territory, and therefore, no drinking laws!" Andre points out.

"FUCK YEAH!" Scotty whoops.

Oh lord.

"You know, Mom, I don't see what the big deal is."

You turn to see Carol chugging down an entire bottle of vodka. Enough to actually kill a normal person.

"Carol-"

"I guess my Invader biology is incapable of getting drunk?" Carol frowns.

"It's both a blessing and curse." You say sagely.

"Hey, Alice." Leo grunts as he hands you a shot of whiskey. "If you say you're going to get piss drunk, you might as well go ahead and do it."

The second time we went drinking, we drove the enemy commander's tank off a cliff. We woke up in a holding cell, we poked our love interest to wake her up, rolled a 1, got an unconscious punch in the face and got knocked out again.

VMQ2, we rolled a 1 first and declared our love to the Morgan the reverse trap. We rolled a second 1 and kissed her in front of everyone else and made her upset and she ran off. Note this was before she was out of the closet. Good times.

>>
>>31773796
Well, for the most part, you get rather buzzed without devolving into a sobbing wreck, which you consider a plus. All in all, things seem to go pretty well, with everybody enjoying themselves.

Some highlights included Antonio trying to put the charm on your friends, which resulted in an instant double team gut punch between you and Lucy.

You also found out that Mirai was a very active drunk, giggling and swinging about all over the room. Kanako began to only speak in very loud and slurred Japanese, so you had no damn clue what she was saying half the time, and Mary, uh... Mary got very... forward. More than once you had to push her off of you, which was a bit difficulty concerning your one armed status.

And then things sort of shifting into trading stories, with your squad leaders telling old war stories from before they were in the Bureau, to notable hunts they took part in, while your friends talked about some of their most memorable battles against Invaders.

However, you sort of lose track of what's happening, and everything sort of becomes a blur after that.

---

"Hey, Alice, rise and shine."

"Gwuwahraharaaaa...." You sputter as your eyes flutter open.

"Nice to see you're finally awake." Leo grins as he pats you on the head. "We've got a busy day today."

It might help us connect with the Invader, and if coming into contact with invaders is going to make our arm go berserk it's better to find out up here than on a battlefield.
>>

Controlled experiments son. We need to establish a control before we start introducing other factors in the equation.
>>
>>31774192
We can test that after trying to talk to the invader. I'm willing to bet this going to fail no matter what. Plus I would rather have Carol there if us/our arm goes stupid. She could probably, maybe, do something about it.
>>
>>31774120
>>Get your new arm first.

The invader refuses to acknowledge lifeforms without invader dna.

I thinm we need the arm to communicate.

Actually, I would have been okay if she was the MC of the quest. She didn't (initially) have connections to the original Demons, allowing new people accessibility, and veteran questers could see the Demons from an outside perspective.
>>
>>31774144

But I don't like Valkyria, I think they're sues. No Morgan was fine for me. Besides whenever a QM gives a waifu an alternate love interest it's like a nail in the coffin.

I wouldn't had mind either but a part of me will be kind of frightened at the idea since we might have gone to the Yuri route.

A part of me is still surprised that Alice didn't end up that way
>>
>>31774435
Well a lot of anon's fucking tried.

But I like what happened. Carol deflected a lot of the shipping, and we didn't get either Ergan or Leo. We still had a lot of shipping, but not as bad as it could have been.
>>
>>31774435

Mary is coming onto alice very hard.

You never know.
>>
>>31774494
Yeah, no.
>>
>>31774435
It's not that surprising. It happens nearly every quest with a female MC nowadays. There's always the group that wants the yuri route, and then there's the group that begs to have "a straight female MC for once." Both groups constantly butt heads and the FeMC generally gets nowhere with anyone.

Personally I only cared about daughteru route here.
>>
>>31774120
"Yeah, I think we'll talk to the Invader first." You say. "I'm kinda paranoid that having a part Invader arm might have some nasty side effects or something."

"Makes sense." Leo nods. "We'll have to head over the Prison Star now."

After a short shuttle ride, you arrive at the Freedom Star's sister station. However, as you step aboard, you immediately notice that the place seemed a lot emptier than it used to. Probably because all of the prisoners had been transferred back to special facilities on Earth for rehabilitation. It gave the whole station an eerie, ghostly feeling. The two of you continue on to one of the most secure sections, where the Invader is being held.

"Okay, Alice, remember. If at any time you feel things are getting out of hand, you can hit the emergency purge button here." Leo says, pointing to a large red button with a protective case over it. "That will detach the module holding the Invader from the station and send it on a course straight for the Sun."

"Lovely." You nod. "Let's get this started."

I wonder who would be an ideal match for Alice? It would be funny if she gets a Donnel character, just some random sweet bumblefuck that has no previously connections to her.

Oh I know, an incredibility lucky (or unlucky) rookie that survives everything we faced, but is also incredibly untalented. Ciaphas Cain character, minus the swag.
>>
>>31774580
A set of security shutters slowly slide open, revealing a containment chamber. At the center was a single girl, or at least something that looked like a girl. However, you see the signature signs of Invader growths creeping along her head and the back of her neck. She was also kept heavily restrained, with massive steel clamps keeping her limbs and head locked in place.

"Initiating the wakening process." You hear Egan's voice drone through the intercom.

Slowly, you see the Invader's eyes flutter open as it fully awakens. The eyes then dart around the chamber, as if taking in all the information as it could before focusing on you. Even when behind several inches of armored glass, you could feel its stare drilling deep into your soul.

"Can you hear me?" You say through the intercom connected to the containment chamber.

The Invader says nothing.

"Subject, can you hear my voice?" You ask again more sternly.

"STATE YOUR PURPOSE." The Invader bellows in a much louder and deep voice than you expected.

"We request information." You say.

"COMMUNICATION IS NOT THIS ONE'S PRIMARY FUNCTION."

"Then what is?" You sigh.

"EXTERMINATION."

Of course.

We have to think of this like a controlled experiment. There are the known known, the known unknowns, and the unknown unknowns. It's the third category that can really screw us.

Playing around this forces this dangerous, it's logical to be as conservative as possible and introduce incremental factors with as little risk as possible.

The arm is the next step, Carol is the last one.

I'd actually like to try Carol next. She described it as "hunger," but it's clear it's more of an eternal vengeance quest against the companions (probably for attacking them in the first place) and they're trying to remove us as potential allies of the companions later on.

Which is fairly reasonable, but they need to understand that we want to go on a vengeance quest too.

"What is Mother?" You ask.

"MOTHER IS ALL." It says simply.

Well, that didn't really get you anywhere. You guess you'll need some help on this one.

"Oi, Loki." You grumble. "You have any idea what this 'Mother' is?"

"Well, I've never seen 'her' myself, but I have read the data." Loki purrs. "Mother, you could say, is the source of all Invaders. She both births them and serves as their central command and control. Not quite a hivemind, but all Invaders are incapable of disobeying her."

"Wonderful." You sigh and turn back to the Invader. "And where exactly is Mother, then."

"MOTHER COMES."

That's... not good.

"And what happens when she comes here?"

"MOTHER WILL FEED."

Okay, that REALLY wasn't good.

"So where is Mother coming from?" You ask.

"YOU WILL KNOW. MOTHER'S GRANDEUR AND BEAUTY CANNOT BE UNSEEN."

"You know," You frown, "why are you telling us all this?"

"WHETHER YOU KNOW THIS INFORMATION OR NOT IS IRRELEVANT." The Invader rumbles, almost with a smug tone. "MOTHER CANNOT BE STOPPED. THERE IS NO ESCAPE. THIS CONVERSATION IS OVER."

"You... you want me to talk to IT, don't you?" She mumbles.

"Yes. I'm sorry to ask this of you, Carol, but we NEED to know what the Invaders are planning." You say.

"All right. I'll try." Carol takes a deep breath.

"Don't worry, you can do this, Carol. I'm right here with you." You reassure her. "If you get too scared, just hit this button here and it will make the big mean Invader go away."

Carol nods and steps up to the window. You see the Invader's eyes actually widen in surprise.

"ABOMINATION." It utters.

"C-can we talk?" Carol asks meekly.

"ABOMINATION." The Invader yells again. "MOTHER WILL BE DISPLEASED."

Okay, this didn't seem like it was working.

Thinking fast, you bring your one arm smashing down on the emergency purge button. The entire chamber shudders as explosive bolts detonate, sending the containment chamber tumbling away from the main station. Barely seconds later, the ejected module explodes, sending debris bouncing off the station's side.

"What the hell was that?!?!" You yell.

"The Invader was rapidly converting its entire inner organ system into pure bioplasma." Egan explains. "Basically turned itself into a living bomb."

"That's harsh." You wince.

"Guess it couldn't be helped." Leo sighs. "It's like the Companions. Their sense of ethics is completely different from ours"

"Too true." You grumble. You could feel Loki lurking about. "But you got everything recorded, right?"

"Yeah, we had the Council on a live feed. We're getting every observatory and telescope and deep space sensor on high alert."

"Good." You nod. Despite everything that's happened, you at least hope what you did today would at least give you a fighting chance.

"Hey, is there a problem with the system?"

"I don't think so, why?"

"Well, I'm looking at the image the telescope took here. A few weeks ago, there were only six planetary bodies in the shot. And now... there's seven."

"Let me see that. Might just be an artifact in the imaging tech."

"That's what I thought too, so I contacted the other sites. They're reporting the same thing. And that's not the oddest part."

"What are you talking about?"

"Whatever that thing is, it's headed straight for us."

>And that's it for tonight! We're coming close to the end here, so get your asses ready! Next thread is next week as always!
>And don't forget Gundam Build Fighters on Friday and Cyberpunk Idols on Saturday!

You're a bully and I'll be nervous all week because of this.
>>
>>31776186
You know I need to finish Dead Space 2 one of these days...
>>
>>31776199
DS2 was awesome, dont be a MAKE US WHOLE pussy, anon. And then there's MAKE US WHOLE Dead Space 3 too. You have a lot of MAKE US WHOLE ISAAC work to do.
>>
>>31776195
I'll either double up on Cyberpunk Idols or use it for a new quest. I'll probably forward a questionnaire about it in the future.
>>
>>31776155
>>31776179
I remember reading this in elementary school. It really screwed up my sleep cycle. Hell, I still have a few problems just looking at it.
>>
>>31776218
Are we getting a Magical Girl Hunter Quest 2 Merc?
>>
>>31776229
Probably not, see what happened to VMQ 2.
>>
>>31776229
Unfortunately, most likely not. Alice is going to get a conclusive end one way or another...
>>
>>31776244
Spiritual sequel, perhaps? Same concept, different universe?
>>
>>31776244
Ok, that's sad, but thanks for the quest anyways!
>>
>>31776216
I still need to finish Dark Souls... And Dark Souls II. Fuck my list of unfinished games.
>>
Oh crap, does Alice have her new arm?
>>
>>31776248
You can do it. Become the QM you are destined to be!

Inb4 MGHQ takes off like SWQ.
>>
>>31776265
Don't worry, it looks like it's a few weeks away.
>>
>>31776300
Mirai, Kanako, and Mary are going to have to train extra hard for this.
>>
>>31776323
They are civies now. What can they do? How old are they anyway?
>>
Carol can consume safely without worrying about being taken over if she just eats for energy right?

What if we land, have her consume for energy and have her expend that energy like a continuous solar flare, all the while still eating away at the world.
>>
>>31776340
They're ex-magical girls. They have similar abilities as Alice.
>>
>>31776348
Do we actually know they're like Alice in terms of specialness? Because I can't recall a time Merc has address that with them.
>>
>>31776346
Pyrrhic victory for us, convenient victory for the Companion's homeworld.
>>
>>31776365
All ex-MGs have enhanced physical traits. However, only Alice has a Companion in her head.
>>
>>31776365

Consider that the mahou shonen had the same capabilities, they probably do.
>>
>>31776372
Alrighty then.
>>
>>31776372

But Kanoko and Mirai can see Loki as well, right?
>>
>>31776393
Yes
