Welcome to Academy City. The time is morning, the weather is warm and the date is August 11.

You are Kyril Torikov, ‘Level 2’ Telekinetic Child Error and you just woke up. You had been reading but mostly you spent the majority of last night trying to figure out a puzzle. Now that you’ve had a good night’s sleep you’ve actually figured it out. It was really the stupidest thing ever since it just told you to call Tolour, your THIEF contact. There was even a typo in there. Whoever made up that thing was dumb and dyslexic. The message was hard to see as well and they were clearly abusing some kind of visual perception design rule. If you met them you’d probably throttle them for putting you through that needless amount of trouble.

Given that you weren’t obligated to do anything today, you might well get that opportunity. In fact, if you called Toulour right now he’d probably arrange for a meeting within the day so that you could finally put this stupid test behind you. However it wasn’t really that important. Now that you had it solved you could probably do something else today. It has been a while since you just hung out with your friends, took a break from all this madness so it might be a good idea to just chill.

Your plan for this morning?
>Call up Toulour
>Go to work

You decided that now was probably a good time to hang out with your friends. Today seemed like a good time to take a break from crazy and/or illegal shit. Your first call was to Sagara.

“Yo, I thought you’d never call man,” he picked up.

“I’m finally free,” you exclaimed.

“Yeah, sounds cool, me and Tadakuni are heading out to see Kyousuke practice before a concert then we’ll hit the arcades or something, sound good?”

“Meet you out front then,” you agreed, “What about Nakazawa?”

“He already has a date,” Sagara answered, “Something about not wanting to lose to you.”

You shrugged and hung up after that. Nakazawa had probably gotten in to his head that you’ve been shagging non-stop or something for the past few days, if you knew him well enough. Though it was something you’d probably want to scratch off your bucket list at some point the opportunity had yet to come up, if it’ll come up at all.

Man it felt like an age since you only had to worry about silly highschool stuff.

Sagara was waiting with Tadakuni and the scooter was primed and ready to go. The problem here was that you were wheelchair bound and there was only one seat on the damn thing. Of course this meant one of you would have to forego motorised transport and it looked like you were the most likely candidate.

Race them to the concert hall?

Hell, how could you resist? There was no way you were going to let a barely beat up 125cc wasn’t going to beat your mind powers. Thus when Tadakuni sped off, with Sagara riding in the back, you were hot on their heels. Thankfully there were bike lanes that the both of you took advantage off. Red lights were no concern. You simply detoured through an alley, once borrowing some speed using the local busses and threading through slow traffic without a care. The amount of fun you were having should be illegal, if it wasn’t already. You think the only one who didn’t find it fun was Sagara as Tadakuni barely kept his MotoGP aspirations in check. In fact you may have sped past some Anti-Skill earlier but you didn’t care. They probably couldn’t stop you now and even they did you probably rich enough to afford a speeding ticket. Your arrival was close enough that there wasn’t a clear victor.

“I am never riding with you again,” Sagara tossed his helmet at Tadakuni.

It missed amidst your snickering.

The concert hall was as you expected it to be, huge, imposing and totally classical in terms of architectural design. You were told they were doing a dress rehearsal today and the only reason the three of you were allowed in was because Kyousuke had some three extra passes. Seeing as Nakazawa was busy, it fell on the three of you to try and prepare him for another big performance.

Kyousuke was still in the middle of his practice though so you had to wait a bit. You supposed that you could,

There was time to explore and listen to Kyousuke later. You decided to scan the assembled people on the off chance that you might spot a familiar face. Your first sweep didn’t catch anyone but as Kyousuke wound down and finished you managed to spot someone coming in at the last minute. It was Sparky. You had no idea what she would be doing here though but you weren’t going to question it as Kyousuke hopped off stage to start chatting with you.

“Glad you could make it Kyril,” he seemed genuinely happy to see you, “I didn’t think you’d be able to make it.”

“Well I was free and everything,” you replied.

“I didn’t think you’d be friends with Kyousuke,” Sparky inserted herself in to the group.

“Small world,” Kyousuke admitted.

You shrugged.

“She plays the violin as well,” he continued, “She doesn’t do too many recitals but when she does she always gives me a run for my money.”

“I sometimes forget that she’s a Lady of Tokiwadai,” you placed emphasis on ‘lady’.

“Yeah I know right?” Kyousuke understood completely.

“Hey! I am a Lady,” she faked indignation.

“Girly, probably,” Tadakuni said, “But Lady, definitely not.”

Sparks started flying as you shared a laugh with Tadakuni.

“Now now, Misaka-san, let’s not ruin the sound engineer’s work,” Kyousuke placated her, “How about we get some snacks or something.”

Sparky hmphed and your group followed Kyousuke out to some table with snacks and drinks for the performers. Whilst Sagara was busy discussing the acoustics with the other two, Sparky pulled you aside.

“About those people you mentioned,” she started, “You wouldn’t happen to know anything about Project Radio Noise would you?”

You did, but not much. It was just a matter of how much you wished to indulge her.

What's the science behind accelerators powers? Also why can he magic?
>>
>>31870092
AIM. It's a funny way of saying "psychic." It gives him Vector powers. Vector, not vector, because it includes vector-like things.

He can magic because Vectors. Specifically, he can manually direct his bodily functions like blood flow, so even if he is flayed alive and all his veins are shredded, he can survive.
>>
>>31870092

>>
>>31870092
>Also why can he magic?

He can do some pretty simple spells if he uses his vector powers to keep his blood vessels from exploding. It takes pretty much everything he has to do something like "Locate this bitch" though.
>>
>>31870184
So is magic really just blood magic? Or is there something else stoping someone from doing magic other than actually knowing about magic and the "spells"

These. We are well off right now. Having a favor owed might come in handy. We should also ask why her interest.
>>
>>31870351
Well, magic was invented long ago for normal people to, through effort and hard work, fight against special people. Gemstones, saints, and bizarre things like Kamijou, among others. It's fueled by lifespan, which is just cream on the crop of why the ultimate hunters are so dangerous, but it's also structured so that those special people - espers in particular - can't use it. In other words, the limiting factors are having enough lifespan to spare and being human, but espers are farther from human than vampires and saints, apparently, because it kills them.
>>
>>31870351
It's because mana, while it exists in all forms of life, is incompatible with the AIM fields that espers produce. So, when an esper attempts magic, there's a clash of mana to AIM, and the feedback causes damage. The incompatibility comes from a combination of the human body's inability to host two different power systems at the same time as well as the different methodology imposed.

“Well I might know something, how much are you willing to part with this time?” you asked.

“Does it look like I’m made of money?” she retorted.

“Well I’m not really running a charity here,” you replied, “Well I don’t really know anything right now but I could find out for you. We’ll just call it a favour for now.”

“Right,” she sighed in what looked like relief, “The names were helpful so, thanks for that I guess.”

“My pleasure Sparky.”

“Oi, oi, what’s this you two are whispering about?” Tadakuni showed up out of nowhere, “Kudou’ll get jealous at this rate man.”

“Yeah, what’s up with her?” Sparky continued, “She’s been holed up in her room for a day now.”

“She was shot you know?” you deflected.

Though in all honesty you think it was more to do with the appearance of her father than the gunshot wound. That however was a private matter and something you could worry about later, but probably not now.

“Ouch, really?” Sagara chimed in, “That sucks man. Though I can probably guess why you’re free all of sudden.”

“She’ll get better,” Sparky concluded, “She’s nothing if not fighter.”

“Spoken from experience?” you asked.

She rubbed her left flank, as if there was an old wound there.

“Anyway, I’m pretty much done here, how about we get some lunch and do something fun,” Kyousuke finally rejoined the conversation.

He was dressed in his casual clothes with his instrument slung over his shoulder. The rest of you agreed, and even Sparky chose to tag along for some lunch. You still haven’t figured out why she was at the concert hall but it didn’t seem like it was important. The three of you had to leg it to a nearby josePH’s seeing as you all couldn’t just create an improvised caravan using Tadakuni’s scooter and your wheelchair and get away with it.

His power isn't that great. It's enough that it lets him do a little bit of magic still, but it does do a lot of damage to him. He can just survive it, so long as he doesn't use more than one or two spells at a time.

You decided to take the time to call Asuka, just to check in on her. Once again, the ringing continued until it reached her voice mail. You left her another message and if you were paranoid you’d think she was deliberately not answering your calls. There was no helping it right now so you decide to call someone who would definitely pick up. That person was Touma.

“Hey Kyril,” he greeted.

“Hey Touma, you free?”

Sparky started paying attention to your conversation then though she was trying really hard to not be obvious about it.

“Yeah, I think even Index is busier than I am.”

Now that was saying something.

“Right, how about some fun then? We’re gonna get some lunch and then hit the arcades or something.”

“I guess,” he mulled it over, “Where you guys meeting?”

You told him where you were headed but did not tell him that Sparky was also with you. It would be a pleasant surprise you thought, assuming they’ve buried the hatchet. She did seem eager to meet up with him though so they probably have. That or she was crushing hard on him and didn’t realise it.

“It does seem a bit strange though doesn’t it?” Sagara remarked, “Not that I mind your company Sparky but don’t you have better things to do that hang out with us?”

“Gosh what would Shirai say about her Onee-sama hanging out with us thugs?” you added for good measure.

“I dunno, it’s not like you guys were trying to pick me up or anything,” she answered.

“True, I mean most of us have girlfriends,” Tadakuni pointed out.

“Heh, I got ninety-nine problems,” Sagara started.

“That’s kinda sad,” Kyousuke responded.

“Totally,” Tadakuni nodded sagely.

“Quite sad indeed,” you agreed.

Sparky only laughed.

You all decided to go bowling and maybe do some karaoke if there was time. The clerk only looked at you funny but didn’t give you much grief. You think it was good practice seeing as bowling actually rewarded control. Sparky and Touma got in to a bit of a competition, the latter a bit reluctantly, whilst Tadakuni started a betting pool. You knew better than to get involved seeing as the house always won. Besides, you were too busy trying to look like you weren’t cheating with your Ability. Touma’s mysterious lack of luck reared its head here. The poor sod kept getting odd splits, preventing him from getting a spare more often than not. Thus Sparky, even with her terrible score, managed to get enough lucky strikes to beat him. She lorded it over him smugly.

“Looks like Sparky wins the Toumab Owl,” Tadakuni concluded with a pencil in his ear.

“What? I got a better score than she did,” you protested.

“Telekinesis doesn’t count cheater,” he hissed back.

Looks like most of them agreed with that sentiment so there wasn’t much you could do there. Well you’ll show them, you’ll show them all at karaoke. It was one of those places that could and would serve alcohol to minors as long as it on the down low. Thankfully if stealth was required then Tadakuni was your man. It could be easily misconstrued as slightly creepy that you were all high school boys in the company of one middle school girl in one small karaoke booth. Oh and alcohol would be involved. He tried to fight Accel, got completely rekt, then scientists scooped up his pulped body and stuck him on super life support. Essentially, he was a fractured brain in a fridge for quite a while.

But Dark Matter has this neat thing it can do. It can learn about the past of an object by coming in contact with it. That + dark matter going everywhere + dark matter touching Kakine's smooshed body = consciousness transfer somehow. Dark Matter can also form into the shape of damn near anything and have whatever properties the creator wants, so DM Kakine went and made himself a new body out of the stuff.

“Wait, why are we singing English songs?” Touma asked as you grabbed the mic.

You gave him a look as if he’d gone crazy.

“What are you Kamijou, chicken? Get up there and sing,” Sagara practically kicked him up there.

You actually had no idea why your friends picked ‘The Devil Went Down to Georgia,’ but it sounded cool.

Turns out it was too fast for you to even begin articulating a word. Well fuck at least you had fun, probably. Let’s see the next song was the ‘Soviet National Anthem’, you think that was Sparky’s work. Hah, you’ll show her that knowing only a lick of Russian wasn’t going to dissuade you from belting out the best song in the world.

You failed, but honestly it was a good effort by your reckoning. At now everyone else was like you seeing as they were in stitches. The next few songs were Disney anime songs and you weren’t drunk enough to sing those yet. Thus you gave the signal to Tadakuni to prepare the drinks as you traded the microphone with Sparky and got her to embarrass herself singing a duet with Touma. Maybe some alcohol would loosen her up?

“Bwah, what is this?” she was obviously surprised by the alcoholic cider.

“Sorry,” Tadakuni scratched the back of his head innocently, “I forgot we had a kid here.”

“Is this really juice?” she asked.

“It’s cider. It’s not that strong,” you answered again and took a swig straight from the bottle.

She tried it again and still found it not to her liking. It was nothing to you but she persevered regardless, getting redder as she imbibed more.

Yeah, if you're looking for fantastic writing LNs aren't the way to go. I still enjoy the novels though, the situations and such are done well. And there are some pretty good lines. It's only really bad if you go in expecting Stephen King or stuff like that.

Bah, you were here to enjoy yourself, not try and get other too sauced to entertain you, even if it seemed like a good idea. Grabbing the microphone you start singing more songs, only stopping to wet your throat and bully others in to joining you.

“I heard the Old Man say:
“Leave her Kyril, leave her.
“Tomorrow you will get your pay
“And it’s time for us to leave her.”

At some point you think they were starting to sing pirate-y songs. You didn’t mind, you only took another shot.

“Now let every man drink off his full bumper,
“And let every man drink off his full glass,
“We’ll drink and be jolly and drown melancholy,
“And here’s to the health of every true-hearted lass!”

“Again,” that was Sparky’s voice you think.

“The worse old shit that ever did sail,
“Sailed out of AC in on a windy day,”

And so you sang along until the place finally kicked you out.

The time is now night, the weather is salty and the date is probably the same.

There were six of you stumbling about singing songs at this time of night was just asking for trouble but hey you guys didn’t really care, even if it was way past curfew. Still it was not like the party was over. You could continue boozing it up through the night seeing as Tadakuni usually had some kind of stash. Or you go with Sparky and totally sneak in to the Tokiwadai Girl’s dorm because that’s the best idea ever. If you were boring and reasonable you’d go to sleep right away though.

Yeah no, the party didn’t end there though Sparky does slip away eventually. Hah the lightweight. Your five man band continued the party, careless of the ruckus you caused really.

“It's down to Tokiwadai to see Shokuhou boys,
“Roll, boys! Roll boys roll!
“Down to Tokiwadai to see Shokuhou boys,
“Way high, Miss Shokuhou!”

“She's lovely on the foreyard, an' she's lovely down below boys,
“Roll, boys! Roll boys roll!
“She's lovely 'cause she loves me, that's all I want to know boys,
“Way high, Miss Shokuhou!”

You had no idea who that Shokuhou chick was but damn she sounded fine. No finer than the booze than Tadakuni had broke out. Did it even taste any better? You didn’t know, nor did you care, alcohol was alcohol. You realised that the Index had joined you at some point but then it gets quite funny about there. She was muttering something about books and material.

The time is now morning, the weather is breezy, and the date is August 12, probably.

The reason the weather was breezy was because the window was open and the rest of your party were in various states of undress. Thankfully most of you had your pants on. They weren’t strictly around the waste per se but it they were worn for a given definition of being worn. Your pants happened to be on your head for some reason. Quickly stirring and putting it back on properly, you were thankful you weren’t hurting too much from last night. The room was Tadakuni’s you think. Funny, you don’t recall his room having a copy of,

Quietly tip-toeing out before anyone catch you asleep with four other guys, you exited the room and returned to your dorm room down the hall. First things first, you had to make sure you were presentable, and get yourself properly medicated. You had followed the doc’s advice of not mixing pills and alcohol. Given that the alcohol had long since stopped dulling the pain, you popped a pill before freshening up.

As for this morning, there were several things of note. You had mail, as in actually snail mail, of which there were two items. One was from Anti-Skill. It was a speeding ticket, along with a picture as evidence of your deed. Signed on the back was a note by Yomikawa.

“I don’t know whether I should be amazed or disappointed that you broke the speed limit in a wheelchair,” you read aloud.

That picture and note was probably going to be framed and put on the wall somewhere. The other piece of mail was from a subscription you weren’t sure you had but it looked to about as thick as book. Turns out it was another volume of Nunotaba’s yaoi manga.

“On the house. Give it to one lucky lady,” it read.

And in to the trash it went. The news wasn’t blowing up too much either you suppose today was another slow day. As you finish going through the latest this morning, there was a knock on the door.

Standing at your door and staring you was Asuka’s dad, Lord Kudou. He didn’t seem in the mood for games.

“Where is she?” he asked.

Episode 32 End. Sorry this one’s a bit shorter than usual lads. I’ll get you a date for next week.
