You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

After a neat little shower, you all sit around Charlotte’s table for breakfast. Charlotte herself is a bit… well she’s certainly no morning person. Nancy herself is having some trouble trying to make her eat.

“It’s too early,” says Charlotte.

“You’re sounding like Kitten,” you say. “Come on, eat.” You take a bite out of some delicious blueberry pancakes. “It’s made with love and all kinds of natural ingredients a healthy girl needs to become big and strong!”

Charlotte glared at you. “I wasn’t aware you were my mother, Gertrude.”

Kitten giggles a bit. “At this rate, she’s everyone’s mother.”

Regardless however, breakfast goes by relatively quickly. You all exit Charlotte, and she leaves you to join her crew as they walk to school, leaving you with your staff and Kitten. Lisa crosses her arms, sighing. “Her room was so messy.”

All of you looked at her like she was nuts. Lisa narrowed her eyes at all of you. “Oh, come on! You can’t deny I’m right!”

Eh, time to head to school though.

As you walk along to school, you decide to ask, “So, how am I looking for the Election, guys?”

Nancy, Lisa, and Ramirez stare at you for a second.

“Besides naked,” you quickly.

“You want to know something funny?” asked Lisa. You nodded. “Me and Nancy took a quick strawpoll on Facebook for candidate popularity. You have a huge lead.”

You blink. “Out of what?”

Nancy says, “You have 75%, Rankin is trailing with 15% and the remainder is abstaining.”

“Huh.” You scratch your chin. This is incredibly confusing. You’d have thought those pictures would have ruined your reputation but it seems like all they’ve done is BOOST it. Ain’t that something to laugh at all the way to the bank.

Nancy smiles. “I think we have this election sealed up tight! Might not even need to go to the Polling place of course.”

You shrug. “We should make appearances, Nancy. It’s polite after all. Besides, I’d like to see Fredendall’s face when they announce the winner, that’ll be something!”

With that, you arrive at school.

> Head to Class

You yawn a bit as you sit in math class. At least you managed to catch up on the subject a bit, but for now most of these numbers, lines, and expressions read out like a Greek tragedy to you. Regardless though, you take down some notes, try and give the Professor your best attention, and in general just be a model student.

Though, the love letters that you’re now receiving not one at a time but in bunches is getting a bit much. You’re flattered, honestly, but you don’t know how to handle being the object of someone’s affection. It’s not like it is with guys when there it would be other way around. Been a while since Audie and Eugene talked to you actually, you wonder briefly how they’re doing.

You step outside Math class, to be stopped by one of the coaches. “Hey, Pool. Listen, one of the coaches is out with a fever and I need someone to replace her. It’ll only be until lunch.”

You ask, “Is it really a wise idea to ask a student to do that?”

The coach shrugs. “Hey, you’re responsible. And I figure the Seniors might at least listen to you. Don’t worry, it’s just a swim class.”

Quick question German, I have heard that with if we turn the A1 to A3 we exchange armor with engine power.

However, I heard that this is compensated by adding more armor to the A3? Tankers added slabs of armor from destroyed Shermans to increase protections to A3s.

So does that mean will the amount of applique armor we added to the A1 will increase?
>>
>>31889820
A3 has better armor and engine power
>>
>>31889915
I heard arguments and The Way confirmed cast armor is better then wielded.

However, the A3 has a better engine power and it was possible that we can add slabs of armor to the tank
>>
>>31889820
I think so. I'm not particularly understanding the question unfortunately.

> Sure

You stand at the side of the pool. All the Seniors sit in the bleachers in front of you, looking bored, disinterested, or otherwise distracted. Seniors, not as bad as Freshmen but they certainly have that carefree attitude that comes with being on the last legs of their High School education. You can’t wait until you can pull that shit. Included in the crowd are most of the Senior Student Council, Bernadette Fairless, Andrea Frick, and Henrietta Carnegie.

You cross your arms, looking at them. “Alright, shall we get started?”

One of the seniors raises her hand. “Do we have to?”

“Yes.” You snap your finger. “For one thing, you all need to get into your swimsuits.” You clap your hands, egging them on as they stand up and mutter. “Come on, come on, I’m not your mother. Let’s go.”

After about ten minutes, the Seniors all arrive, clad in… custom swimsuits for themselves. Bikinis, one and two pieces, frillies and everything. There isn’t a rule dictating that you needed to wear the schoolswim suit mind you, but the Seniors certainly took advantage of that. The only person who seemed keen on the school swimsuit was Fairless.

You sigh, “Alright. Let’s get to work.”

Actually, the welded armor itself is stronger because the hardness can be more easily controlled in rolled armor plates. The armor on the A3 is also simply thicker. Weld joints are of course a weak point that cast hulls do not have, I'm sure The Way mustve been referring to that, or he would have lost his wayyyyy (alright I'll go kill myself for that one)
Castings allow round shapes too, which is of course advantageous if the enemy just glances you but the center of the tank's front isnt all that rounded, just where it meets the sides so it only bounces shot that already glance the vehicle anyway.

tl;dr just dont get shot in the welds.
>>

> Laps
Obviously you start with laps, and then do Polo.
>>
>>31889954
>> Laps

Okay, I'll try to make if clearer (I'll probably fail but..)

So which would be better the quality vs quantity of armor between the A1 and A3

the A1 has the cast armor which in quality is better.

However, the A3 can carry more armor due to it's engine power but it's wielded.

>>31890021

Actual quality of the metal is worse in cast armor, but does not have weld joint weakspots.

Cast armor has a little bit more roundness to it, but the welded A3 simply has thicker armor.

I'd rather drive the A3 even just for the armor, let alone the additional engine power.
>>

>tl;dr just dont get shot in the welds.

Advice for just about everyone everywhere.
>>
>>31890058
Okay, that may be something worth buying though at the bottom barrel of our shopping list
>>
>>31890058
"quality of metal," is not by definition worse because it's cast, it's "worse," relative to more-consistent slabs of RHA. Castings tend to be more porous, but that's a tendency, not an absolute truth.

Cast armor eliminates a lot of structural weak points.
>>
>>31890104
less consistent is objectively worse. consistency is reliability.

You can get lucky, you can get fucked too. That's bad. And when you have 60 000 tanks riding around you want reliability.
>>

“Behold!” Henrietta stands on Andrea’s shoulders, the ball in her hands as she towers over the opposing team. “This is the SUPER SCHOOL SWIMCLASS ULTIMATE ASSAULT!”

>>=[| SUPER SCHOOL SWIMCLASS ULTIMATE ASSAULT |]=<<

“Charge!” they both scream. They rush at the incredibly shocked and confused opposing team.

Only to get pushed over by Fairless. They create a splash big enough to engulf Bikini Atoll.

You blow on your whistle. “Henrietta, Andrea, that’s against the rules. You can’t do that.”

The two of them surface, slapping wet hair out of their faces as they return to their lines. At least the Seniors are enthusiastic about Water Polo, you could certainly do with a whole lot worse.

Finally though, their class is over. They all head to the lockerrooms for showers and a change into their school uniform. You sigh, sitting on the bleachers. No rest for you just yet. Suddenly, you feel someone sit next to you, Fairless.

“Oh, Bernadette,” you say. “What’s up?”

“Not much,” she says. She’s still soaked from Water Polo, wringing some water out of her hair. Her swimsuit glistens and yeah no let’s go into detail on that. “Did the coaches really talk you into doing this?”

With casting you get weak spots, impurities, and soft spots, all of which are objectively worse than a weld line that's completely behind the armor plate like on a welded Sherman's glacis plate.

“Hey, they need help, I answer,” you say.

“Ah, that’s like you,” says Fairless. “Figures. Always off helping someone or finding some problem to solve, huh?”

You smile. “Figure it helps keep me on my toes. You know what they say, Yesterday’s Enemy is Tomorrow’s Friend.”

“That don’t sound relevant-“

“Well, it’s close,” you interrupt. “But point is, Fairless. You should always be willing to help others, that’s the good Christian thing my father taught me and it’s what I will teach my children when I do have them.”

“Can’t argue with that,” says Fairless. She paused for a bit, then looked over at the entrance to the lockerroom, seeing Henrietta and Andrea with their phones out, recording. “What the fuck are you two doing?”

Henrietta says, “Waiting for you two to French.”

“”Ha, ha, very funny,” she says. Fairless stands up then walks over to them, glaring at them. The two of them smile nervously as they back away. “I’ll show you two what for, come back here.”

“No thanks, see you!” They ran off, Fairless walking behind them.

Good grief.

Non-loyalty Quests.

Recruit crews is getting to a priority again as we can get them trained up faster before the 20 v 20 starts.

We can get a crew immediately and fit them in the Type 97 and the panther can be ready in a days notice. I'd suggest we find a single 5 man crew first.
>>
> Work/Study
> Teach the Next Class (Then Skip to Lunch)

You decide to take the time to read and study up for your classes between classes. Once the next class shows up, you go through laps with them, showing them how to do a proper stroke, how to kick their feet properly. They’re far more attentive and patient than the Seniors at least, but that’s probably because they’re Sophomores just like you.

And probably because they’re waiting for a wardrobe malfunction from your swimsuit. Good thing you’re wearing the standard issue, designed never to break.

Finally though, it’s time for lunch. You hit the showers quickly, then head on to the cafeteria to meet up with your crew. “Hey girls-“

“What were you thinking!?” Lisa yells at Ramirez, her cheeks flushed red. Ramirez simply stares at her, neutral. Come to think of it, you can’t remember the last time Ramirez ever said anything. “I didn’t say I wanted to and now you’ve gone done and did it you bitch!”

“The hell is going on?” you ask Nancy.

Nancy says, “Ramirez set Huxley on a date with Lisa.”

You nod. “Ah, that would explain it.”

Lisa screams, tugging on her hair. “Do you know what it would be like in a relationship with that godawful slacker!? Goodness, gracious, fucking hell!”

Ramirez shrugs. “Hey, he seemed nice.”

“Yeah, to you!” She snapped her finger, getting up two cartons of chocolate milk along with the usual lunch. “But to me, he’s always a total fucking jerk and a complete loser!”

Ramirez says, “Maybe that’s because you’re a jerk to him who won’t give him a chance.”

“Aaahhh!” Lisa slaps her tray on the table as you sit down.

And election-wise, I'm surprised that Trudy doesn't have a catchy slogan that she and her crew will try to say to every potential voter at every opportunity.

>>31890745
There's the Computer, Gardening, and Blacksmithing Club that Trudy approved funding of, but we still haven't met them yet.

I'm thinking that for the Juniors, Trudy might have to help them in making Prom Night a success, since Betty Grable did give the Tankery Club money to upgrade the tanks early in the tourney.

After Elections, the winter pep rally and the battle of the classes are also some events to consider ripe for recruiting crews.

… Good point. “Okay, Lisa, did you find anyone who might want to join Tankery?”

“Well…” Lisa rolled her eyes upwards in thought. “The Senior Council has expressed interest, but with Fredendall hanging over them, it’s not a likely thing. Actually, Nancy, did you tell her?”

Nancy’s eyes widen. “Oh right! I forgot! Maho Nishizumi called me earlier yesterday, and asked if your school was perhaps setting up an exchange program! She would be willing to send over some of her commanders to serve as advisors for you or perhaps as a spare crew.”

Lisa nods. “Saunders and Saint Gloriana made the same deal too. All we need is to restart the Foreign Exchange program which ought to be a sure thing with your reelection.”

“Of course. Besides that, did you find any good sponsorships for us?” you ask.

Lisa says, “Well, Boss, I talked to some bigwig companies, none of them seem willing to support Tankery, something about wanting to keep their peaceful integrity and not wanting to endorse such a violent sport. The only ones who seemed interested were the Smithsonian Institution.”

“Of course,” you say, crossing her arms. “What did they want?”

“They wanted to buy up Hobbes in exchange for a 5,000 Dollar weekly scholarship. That’s not my decision to make, so I told them to wait on you.”

You nod. “Alright.”

Nancy says, “I was also looking for other teams to have a sparring match with. The only one nearby is Anzio and unfortunately I’ve been put on hold before I could actually speak to their Commander.”

You nod. “That’s fine, that’s fine.” You look at the clock. “Ah, lunch is almost over. Listen, we’ll talk about this stuff another time. Keep it in your minds, yeah?”

With that, all of you separate to your respective classes. Time for Health Class.

You blink, huh? Oh, you fell asleep.

Eh, not a problem. It’s just health class.

But regardless, the rest of the day flies by relatively quickly. Theatre, History, and French class go by with naught but a few pop quizzes that you rush through, probably nothing too special.

You’re outside of the building when you receive a text message.

Okay we need to restore our foreign exchange program to get more crews.

as for the big companies I think we need to finish the Rifle Team Loyalty quest to endorse that it is not a violent sport.

eh nope.

Also, if that exchange program does end up working, i'm willing to bet that we might get a crew made up of exchange students from different schools.

The Commander is from Saunders, who's carefreeness grinds on the loader's (who's from BFP) nerves while the Glorianna girl just sits there drinking tea and reading poems. Just saying. Such character interaction might be interesting.

We need to convince them otherwise.

How do we do that?

Maybe combine the rifle teams' loyalty quest to our cause as well?

Any suggestions?

> Head to the Gym

Good thing you’ve packed your gym clothes with you. You walk into the gym, huge little room with all kinds of exercise equipment, some space sectioned off for yoga classes, and even a ring for boxing and wrestling. That ought to be fun.

Kate greets you, smiling. She’s sitting next to a treadmill being used by Octavia. “Gertrude, good to see you. Didn’t think you’d make it.”

“I try to make time for all of my crews,” you say. “What are you guys up to?”

Octavia pants a bit. “We’re just keeping ourselves fit. Steeling ourselves for the next match so to speak, Pravda isn’t anything to shake a stick at.”

You nod. “Where’s Wendy, Joanna, and Michelle?”

Kate points to the boxing ring. “Wendy and Joanna are going at it. Michelle’s weightlifting.”

You nod. “Alright then.”

> Box with Wendy

You stand at the ropes, grabbing some gloves and other protective gear. Wendy is currently busy beating the everloving hell out of Joanna. “Mind if I cut in you two?”

Wendy stops, letting up. “Sure, if you want to. Joanna?”

Joanna rubs her cheeks, pouting. “You think you’d go easy for me, Wendy.”

“I am,” she says.

You quickly put on the gloves and stretch out a bit. It’s been a while since you’ve meant to punch someone, but now? Well, might as well get the practice. You stand across from Wendy. “So, Wendy. I was thinking, sponsorships, you know? They want to see that Tankery isn’t violent before they want to sponsor us.”

Wendy nods. “Well, Tankery is an interesting thing.” She adjusts the straps on her gloves. “It’s a way for girls to get together, form bonds unlike any other, become strapping fine women in the field of battle. It’s…” She rubs her cheek, thinking. “It’s camaraderie.”

You nod at that. Camaraderie.

“Now,” she says. “Want me to go easy?”

You grin evilly, putting up your dukes. “I’m no baby, give it your best-“ Your vision flashes as Wendy gives you mean jab to the face. “D’oh!”

Another jab to the chin. Ow motherfuck you bitch. Wendy steps back, on her heels, poised. Alright. You throw a punch at her, only for her to duck and give you a nasty uppercut. Jesus motherfucking Christ that girl hits hard.

Joanna yells from the corner. “Kick her ass, Gertrude!” Yeah, easy for you to say.

Wendy gives another combination of jabs and hooks, with amazing speed and fury that reminds you of your old days in Middle School.

Actually, this would be a good time for a flashback, but everytime you do, Wendy literally punches you out of it.

You shake your head, spitting onto the ring and keeping your dukes up. Finally, Wendy gives you a powerful cross, flooring you. You lie back, staring up at the ceiling light.

Joanna and Wendy stand over you. “You okay?” says Wendy.

Wendy shrugs. “You have to take your anger on the world out on something, might as well get some exercise doing it.”

“Ha.” You strip off your gloves, leaning on the ropes. Octavia and Kate come over, leaning on the ring’s wall. “Hey, what’s up.”

Kate shrugs. “Admittedly, Gertrude. We have kind of an ulterior motive for inviting you out here.” She nods over to Michelle, who’s still busy lifting weights on her own. “It’s Michelle. She’s… she’s been kind of quiet lately, we’re kind of worried about her.”

You nod. “How so?”

Octavia says, “Just sort of not participating in conversation. She used to be pretty lively too. I think Ekins is eating away at her.”

“Oh right.” You look over at her. She looks perfectly fine, but you suppose things could really be a lot worse under her veneer of friendliness. “What do you want me to do about it?”

Joanna shrugs. “Talk to her if you got time. We won’t mind if you have to leave to do something. Just… You know, help her.”

You nod. “I’ll do what I can.”

You decide to say goodbye to the Aces for now, in search of potential crews. No biggie with them of course. You change back into your school uniform and end up outside the gym. But beyond that, it’s time to get thinking. Who should you recruit?

The Seniors have said they are interested, but with Fredendall breathing down their neck, it’s not like they can really do anything. Though, they can probably be convinced. It’s not like they’ll be here for much longer this year anyway.

The Juniors are in the same boat, they’d certainly like to help but Fredendall.

Who else though? Oh right, you also consider the possibility of the Foreign exchange, but that’d require starting up the exchange program up again.

Where to start?

You quickly call up Nancy. “Nancy, it’s Gertrude. Listen, how do you propose we can get the Foreign exchange program up, get ourselves a fresh, experienced crew on our hands?”

“Well, it’d have to go through the Student Council. We can certainly negotiate that after the Elections. The issue is who do we pick for the exchange program?”

“Yeah, yeah… Hm. Nancy, see if you can get like a conference call together with the interested teams, I’ll be over to your dorm.”

With that, you quickly hurry over to Nancy’s place. You arrive there in good time, and she lets you without much fuss. Nancy’s dorm is clean and pretty as ever, it even smells of a fresh cleaning. Nancy smiles, “I cleaned up just for the conference! Even sprayed a bit of freshener!”

You say, “You realize they won’t smell that, right?”

“It’s the thought that counts,” says Nancy. She leads you over to the laptop. “I’ve managed to set up a Skype call with everyone. Gertrude, we have…”

There are three screens. On the top left corner is Maho Nishizumi, out of her regular uniform and in a simple black blouse. On the top right corner is Kaye, chewing gum and staring curiously at the screen. And on the bottom right is Darjeeling apparently taking a sip of tea.

You smile, taking a seat. “Sorry to call you all on short notice but we are very interested in restarting the exchange program.”

Kaye nods. “Yep! We’ll be sure to send you our best crew!”

“Actually,” says Darjeeling. “We were hoping to do the same.”

Nancy says, “Unfortunately, Principal Tennyson won’t allow you all to send a crew. He wants to ease the school back into the exchange program with just a very small group.”

Kaye smiles. “It’s settled then, we’ll do it! We all know English anyway.”

Darjeeling takes a sip of tea. “As do we. The apple does not fall far from the tree.”

Maho simply sits back, waiting for the argument to start.

This is the worst option. For our battleline.

This is also the option most inline with tankery. Meeting new people, getting to know them well and having fun.
>>
>>31893271
Mostly because i don't want another t-34/57 since we're aiming for that for the rifle team.

The T-34/85's gun is a bit weaker then the 57mm but also a 5 man crew in which we are having an increasingly harder time finding crews for.

Also no one wants a casemate tank
>>
>>31893274
>>31893271
I guess discussing re: screaming at each other is part of this quest, but i'd rather save the incoming debate for the weekend ingame, when we've mostly dealt with any other thing that may urgently need our money. Still, if you don't want a tank, present some facts and debate them, don't just say no and call everyone else a faggot.

>This is an exchange program, different people can experience different things

>But please no three man crews...

One person each, but obviously there needs to be a Foreign Exchange Liaison position to help run the program and accommodate their needs. So, that'd coincidentally be a four woman crew...

But who could we recruit for this task?

Oh, Bernadette...

But I do like this solution. Remember what the name of the Academy Ship is, after all. A colorful cast of foreign volunteers drawn from all over... erm, Japan, fits in pretty well.

And on tank debate, i think we have enough medium/medium-grade tanks for now. One more heavy with decent punch won't hurt.
>>
>>31893345

Actually though, we've been finding more 5 man crews

Its the 3 man crews that were apart from the norm in the start.

And yes, I was thinking that the chassis could be built to a T-34/85 of the 1944 spec of T-34s, unlike the T-34/57 which will only be of the 1941 spec. We'll have to upgrade it a second time to the 1944 spec. Would be cheaper and we get a good end-ww2 tank quickly, letting us focus on upgrading the others.

> Can’t you all send one person for an entire crew?

“Hold on, before there’s any argument. Can’t you all just send one person for a combined crew?” They all look at you, confused. “You know? You’re all Japanese anyway.”

Maho says something in Japanese, to which Darjeeling says, “That is a fair point. We were simply thinking of sending a four girl crew each, led by one of our best officers. But that is an interesting theory.”

You nod. “Right. We can definitely go for broke on this. One girl from each school, plus any other schools you want to convince to join in.”

Kaye says, “I think it’ll be just us three for now. Do you really want to add a fourth member to the crew?”

Perhaps, but we need to find crew. Also i'm worried the new group from foreign exchange will only be a three man crew.

Maybe because out of all the things to say, Trude went with this response.

She could have gone to say that the school comes first and having multiple individuals from different schools will kick start a dead program.

The 57mm argument was mostly due to the crew size of the rifle club. Since we're going to search for a 5 man crew for the tank, I dont think they'll be too many arguements against the type 85.
>>
>>31893607
Well to be fair, their captain feels like a failure despite having a long tankery tradition they haven't won a single title unlike saunders, BFP, and st.glorinna.

her recent wins through the tournament went to her head and became overcondifent but it shouldn't reflect on her team.

Maybe by sending one of their crew (a respectful one) they can bring some honor to their team

> See if you can invite a fourth school

“Maybe you guys can invite a fourth school to participate? Who can do that?”

Darjeeling scratches her chin a bit. “Pravda received some freshmen who might be willing.”

“I can contact Anzio too. Annie might be willing to send over someone who’s interested,” says Kaye.

All of you look over at Maho. She simply shrugs. Guess she doesn’t know anyone then. “Alright,” you say.

Guys. When the foreign exchange crew comes, we need to stuff them in a russian tank.

If we find chi-ha-tan, their rep will want the type 97.

Glorianna's will want the cromwell, saunders the chaffee and black forest the panther.

Because instead of pleasing one, we upset them all with a russian tank. Because fairs fair.

And their reactions will be worth it.

Also funny thing is despite the teams using a certain nations tanks, their using different doctrines.

Saunders using Shermans but ends up with a Chaffee.

BFP....well the Panther is probably the only tank that will suit her

but two our of three ain't bad

> Chi-Ha-Tan

“Maybe Chi-Ha-Tan will be willing to send someone over?” you ask.

Darjeeling smirks. “Bold. I suppose I can contact Nishi-san about it later.”

“Yeah!” says Kaye. “Me and Nishi go way back anyway, I’m sure we can convince her to send someone over. It’ll be a real treat!”

“Of course,” you say. “So it’s settled, all of you will send one person individually. How soon can we expect them?”

Darjeeling says, “As soon as you approve the Foreign exchange program for your school. We can have them as early as Wednesday next week.”

“Perfect,” you say. “In time for the match with Pravda too.”

“Sweet!” Kaye grins. “Can’t wait to see you guys duke it out! It’ll be like one of those hypotheticals I hear so much about! America versus Russia! Rocky versus Drago! Shermans versus T-34s!”

Darjeeling says, “I do not think it’ll be that dramatic, Kei-san.”

Sharp corners are stress concentrators and are more likely to crack when compared to rounded corners. I don't believe a shell that doesn't penetrate can crack the armor along the corner unless it lands very close, but I can believe a high caliber HE shell could crack the armor along the welds without actually penetrating.

I suppose the quality of the RHA of the Cast armor could come into question. But I would like to add large grains only form when the piece of metal is thick enough for the core to remain hot while the outer surface is cooling.
In regards to Cast vs Welded, I would say that as long as the Cast armor is heated uniformly and cooled uniformly, there should be no difference in strength when compared to a Hot Rolled Welded plate.
Then again they were trying to get Shermans off the production line as quickly as possible, so I can't say what QC was like back then.

“Also,” you say. “Just… plugging you know? My Freshmen are an upcoming bluegrass band and they do need some money-“

“Way ahead of you!” says Kaye. “Already ordered ten of their soundtracks!”

You tilt your head. “… that was fast.”

Nancy is a bit saddened that you have to go, but understands the fact that you have to help someone anyway. That’s been your job for quite a while since you started this year. At best, you’re everybody’s friend, at worst you’re everybody’s errand girl. Could be worse, you could be everyone’s sex slave. Now that would be something.

Unless you were James Deen’s sex slave, sweet mother of Christ that man.

But regardless, you call up Michelle DeWitt. You decide to invite her to dinner.

“Dinner, just the two of us?”

“Sure, I feel like you and I could do some talking, it’s honestly been a while you know?”

That is actually very possible, especially if it's cast in sand. But, this isn't Soviet Russia. Material Engineering back then wasn't something to disregard. I would like to believe they sanded and polished the armor to remove scratches and imperfections that might act as stress concentrators.

You also pick out ingredients for dinner. You might want to figure out what the hell you want to make.

And also outfits, you can’t stay in your school uniform forever. You still have that little black dress for homecoming, but you also have various casual outfits.

You press down the blue blouse and the black miniskirt adapted from your tankery uniform. Looking neat as fuck. You also get to work on the pasta for the spaghetti and pick out a movie. You feel like some Indiana Jones would do you some good. Those three movies are quite possibly the best kind of action movies.

Good thing they didn’t make a fourth one.

You’re busy putting the final touches on the spaghetti when Michelle knocks at your door. With your apron still tied around your body, you quickly answer the door. “Hey, Michelle. Come in! I just finished the spaghetti.”

“Ooooh!” Michelle’s eyes go wide at the prospect. “I like spaghetti! You cook a lot, Gertrude?”

“Well, recently, yes,” you say. “But I’m learning. Go ahead, have a taste. I was also thinking on some clam chowder if you wanted some.”

“Oh, could you, I love chowder!” she says. You smile, then start getting to work in the kitchen. Michelle meanwhile starts digging in into her plate of spaghetti. “So, we watching a movie?”

“Yeah,” you say. “It’s on the TV, go ahead and hit play. It’s Indy and the Last Crusade.”

“Sweet,” says Michelle. She hits the play button for some high flying pulp action.

As you prepare the clams and get started on the broth, you ask Michelle, “How are you doing, Michelle, anything new with you?”

Michelle shrugs as she watches the movie. “Eh, nothing too interesting. I did see you get wrecked by Wendy but otherwise my day’s been pretty boring.”

“Oh? Nothing to discuss, nothing to talk about?” You smirk, looking at her with your best smugface. “Maybe you’ve got a beau to talk about?”

Michelle laughs. “Ha! Yeah, as if guys want girls who pilot tanks. Gertrude, I’m going to be completely honest with you. Tankery, despite popular belief, doesn’t really make you that popular with guys. It might even scare them off!”

Hahaha, yeah, hahaha… oh, man that hurts.

After a spell, you finally manage to get the clam chowder out. You hand the plate over to Michelle, who quickly starts spooning up the contents right into her mouth without abandon. “Jeez, Michelle. Big eater ain’t you?”

Michelle nods, her cheeks puffing with chowder. “Mmffam.”

“Your mother ever teach not to talk with your mouth full?”

Michelle swallows, with bits of chowder dabbing her cheeks and lips. “Well… I was always taught it was polite to eat quickly, show the host that their food is good!”

“Ramirez apparently set him up on a date with her today. Lisa was livid at it, but you know, she turned to it eventually. And I’m glad for it too. Lisa’s a nice girl, she deserves a nice guy.” You slurp up some pasta. “Still, I envy her. I’d like a relationship like that one day.”

“Why don’t you?” asks Michelle.

“Eh…” You snap your finger. “I’ve met a few boys from time to time. Eugene for example, one of my personal good friends, and Audie Murphy is basically Captain Perfect. But you know, long distance relationships, I don’t want to have to deal with that. Besides, now that I think about it, Audie kinda came across as a bit creepy. Like he’s always trying to butt into someone’s problems and fix them.”

Michelle shrugs. “Guys do tend to do that when there’s lots of women to whiteknight for.”

“You don’t sound sure.”

Michelle shrugs. “Look, Gertrude. I came here to eat dinner, have a nice time with a good friend, and just relax. I didn’t come here to be lectured.”

You nod. “I know, just… Please just talk to someone, talk to me, talk to Kate or Octavia if you’re feeling down. We’re all friends here.”

“I know,” says Michelle. “Let’s just get back to the movie.”

With that, you eat dinner and watch the movie, occasionally laughing or snarking at some of Indy’s antics, but otherwise enjoying right into the very end. With that, Michelle helps you put the dishes together for cleaning. And with that, she decides to head back to her dorm.

You stand by the door for her as she packs her things. “Well, Gertrude. I had a nice night tonight! You cook a mean clam chowder that’s for sure.” She walks over to the door, smiling, very forcefully smiling. “Good night, alright?”

Michelle looks at you, skeptical. “I’m not Kitten.”

There aren't many good "Heavies" (I use the bunny ears because the IS-2 is designated as a Heavy tank, but it's very similar in weight to the Panther which the Germans call a Medium.)
Getting a T29/30/32/34 would be pretty kickass.

>>
>>31896814
they're...basically the same. Inna war scenario, maybe their small differences would matter, but in a controlled clime like tankery it's...not a big deal.

The big thing is that a 90mm comes stuck to a Pershing, which offers pretty sophisticated levels of everything.

the 17pdr is attached to smaller vehicles that are less protected/primary role is not fighting tanks but destroying them, or a Centurion. Possibly a Comet but that uses a 77mm bore instead of a 76mm and there's some other structural differences but whatever.

Point is, gun performance is basically identical. Difference comes in what they're attached to.

Pretty much this. The Achille used Manual Traverse, the M36 had power traverse. The Firefly after a bit more research required a low rate of fire to compensate for the massive flash and they had to push their headsest against their ears and have their mouths open when the gun fired.
The Centurion would actually be a monster, similar to the Pershing. But it would only mount the 17 Pounder, where as the Pershing could go up to a T15E1.

As you break open the books to study, you decide to give your old friend a call.

“Eugene Fluckey.”

“It’s Gertrude, Eugene. Hi-ho, hi-ho.”

“Oh, Gertrude. What’s up?”

“Uh… not much, just wanted to call, I’m hoping I ain’t bothering you or anything.”

“No, no, it’s fine. I tell you something, Vernon and Harold are off doing their old antics, I’m just here studying. What about you?”

“Same. Great minds think alike huh?”

“Of course.” Eugene sounds pretty tired. You must have caught him at the tail end of his midterms. “So, what do you want to talk about, Gertrude?”

“Oh, just want to see how you’re doing. You and Ace alright?”

“Ace has been pretty mopey since she lost the tournament, but we all know she made a great showing. She’ll get past it. I see you’re still in the tournament, Gertrude. How’s your team looking?”

I hated the way Trude/Kitten's interactions with Eugene were written, and I also dislike his archetype (bullied average/ugly kid turns into perfect, handsome/beautiful, kind person. Audie on the other hand made a really bad impression.

I imagine that, despite the impressive war machine that we had turned into by 1945, that TARDEC didn't literally build a tank in four months, inclusive of any R&D periods.

Chances are to find an actual date someone would need to track the program via the firm (or, if it was all Army developed, try to find associated personnel records - nearly all WWII records are unsealed to mundane stuff like this is available to those who have a boner for documentation)

“That’s good to hear, Gertrude. You always were the kind of girl to see potential in others. Unless they really pissed you off.”

“Yeah, how do you think you went from scrawny nerd to huge in a couple of years?”

“The military?”

“Besides that.”

“Very funny. I’m glad you called though, Gertrude. I honestly miss having you around. Something about not having an incredibly loud and aggressive girl in your life really tends to make things a lot quieter.”

“Ah, you should see me now, Eugene. Apparently according to Kitten I’ve done a lot of changing since September. You know, I can cook now!”

“You’re fucking with me.”

“I’m not! Honestly!” You giggle. “Tell you what, come around to LGA one of these days, I’ll cook you a three course meal for you and Ace. It’ll be a ball.”

“I’ll take you up on that, for sure. Hopefully we can definitely catch up on things, Gertrude. Anyway, I oughta go, it’s about lights out and the provosts will grill me for staying up.”

“Right, good night, Eugene.”

“Night, Gertrude. Good luck in the tournament!”

It was armed with the T54 not the T15E1. Ballistics were identical, the only difference was that the T54 used a shorter fatter casing rather than the long thin one use in the T15E1

The reason the T54 wasn't Tankery legal is because there was no date saying when the gun was fitted or had begun to be fitted, only a date indicating when it was completed.
Best I can do is give a date it was ordered and the date is was tested. June 1945 and February 1947 respectively.

Really it's up to the QM in what is legal and what isn't when there is no definite date.

I'm only just catching up on the thread now but I believe I found a solution to the issue of the S35, for the time being at least.

Pic related is a S35 that was captured by the Germans and operates in Yugoslavia, then captured by Yugo partisans, what they did was cut the turret face out and remove the gun, then fashion an extension from armor pieces from wrecked armored vehicles to elongate the turret, then they stuck in a QF 6pdr they took from a wrecked AEC Mk.II armored car.

Schteel, your thoughts on this conversion? It is tankery legal and apparently they made 2 such conversions out of the vehicles they captured and had lying around.

We should call Perrine and ask her about it
>>

“So, Kitten, what game you playing on your DS thingy?”

Kitten says, “Chrono Trigger. I’ve had it for ages, and I’ve been meaning to play it. Finally got around to it. It’s actually pretty neat!”

You sit up a bit, forcing Kitten off of you. “Aw, that’s nice. You know what else is nice, Kitten?”

“What?”

“Oh, you know, A TICKLE MONSTER!” You force Kitten down on the bed and start wiggling your fingers on her sides, squeezing the laughter out of her like a Jeff Dunham show.

“Ahahahaha! No! Stop! Tr-Trudy!” She squeals, trying to force you off her. Despite her tankery training and all that yoga, she’s still not strong enough to push you off.

“Say Uncle!”

“Un-Unf- Uncle! Uncle!” she screams. “Lemme go! Uncle!”

There’s a knock at the door, silencing the two of you. Well, you’re saved for now, Kitten. You quickly stand up, letting her recover then walk over to the door. You open it up.

“… Hi.” Says Michelle. “Yeah, I hope you don’t mind if I sleep with you tonight?”

You shake your head, smiling. “No, no. Come in.” You lead her inside, gesturing to Kitten on the bed. “You remember Kitten, right?”

Michelle nods. “Hi, Kitten.”

Kitten sits up, blushing a little. “Hey, Michelle.”

If anyone wants to learn about the Ferdinand and to a lesser extent the Sturmpanzer
>>
>>31897995
we finally find a solution to solving the issue of the S35 not being able to penetrate a wet paper bag and you go "Ah...pass on that."

...

you're fucking retarded

>>31898167
>If it's really necessary to up gun the tank to a 6 Pounder (which is still quite weak), go for it.
the 6pdr is a hell of a lot better than what it currently has or anything that was ever planned for it and it would be relatively safe considering the extension box is made from scavenged armor plate, its not like it has thick armor to begin with, its got the 6pdr's counterweight on the barrel to help balance the guns weight too so it shouldn't hamper performance, rate of fire would be very similar, accuracy and range and penetration would all be massive improvements and it would be relatively cheap, its just some armor plate cut and welded to size and a 6pdr.
>>
>>31898202
Well, I doubt Fredendall will suffer quite as badly as you want, true. That seems like it'd be against the spirit of the quest, really.
>>
>>31898229
> Head to sleep
Might as well.
>>
>>31898211
so your saying that just because it was pieced together rather hastily and cheaply in the war that we'll have the same despite it needing to conform to standards set out by the league?

your fucking retarded if you think we shouldnt get the better gun for it when we have legal precedent for it and it will only HELP IMPROVE the tank...
>>
>>31898236
It's...but. Man, what?
>>
>>31898211
So was the North American Churchill and it worked.

It's a better armament.

>>31898229
> Head to sleep

Can we add it to the shop?

how much will it be?
>>
>>31898237
Agreed. I still want it, but I won't sabotage the sweetness of the quest for personal hate.
>>
>>31898115
anon, if we get Perrine to make it, it won't be a hacked together piece of slavshit, its gotta hold up to ITS standards which means it will be perfectly fine

it replaces the gun with something they can actually use against enemy armored vehicles for once and it means we don't have to immediately replace the vehicle because its obsolete as fuck
>>
>>31898306
That would practically make you a saint here on /tg/, anon.
>>
>>31898236
The only reason I can see in not getting is that it may hamper the tanks cross-country performance due to the added mass of the armor and gun at the front of the tank.
>>
>>31898229
>Study a team (Pravda)
>>
>>31898335
But the 6pdr is STILL obsolete by the time 1944 rolled around.

Instead of "totally useless," it's "mostly useless," which is a poor return on investment.

Speculative, but I imagine the conversion cost will be somewhere in the mid-teens, meaning that it's 50 to 80% as expensive as just buying an entirely new, more modern, better tank in the first place.

>Talk with someone (Michelle)
"What happened?"
>>
>>31898229
> Head to sleep
Sufficient Kitten has been administered, permission to shut down granted.
Thanks for running!
>>
>>31898357
its a very minor addition to its overall weight
>>
>>31898380
hey, I agree that a new tank would be vastly better but all these idiots refuse to sell the S35

this is just a way to actually make it somewhat competitive and useful once more
>>
> Head to sleep

You hit the lights then cozy up into your sheets. Next to you is Kitten, who cuddles up into your shoulder, purring a bit with a smile on her face. Michelle is on the other side of you, cozying up with you as well.

Michelle says, “Hope this ain’t awkward.”

“It’s fine,” you say. You ruffle Kitten’s hair a bit. “I’m used to it. You’re always welcome here, Michelle.”

Michelle smiles, then sighs. “Good night, Gertrude.”

“Good night.”

Kitten says, “Don’t let the bed bugs bite.”

You shut your eyes, then let yourself drift off to sleep.

> END DAY
>>
>>31898420
Where the hell are you getting your information from then, m8?
>>
>>31898380
We have it for the Churchill and it's still around.

So mostly useless is a understatement, and we're not facing an armor of Tiger Tanks and IS-2,

a 6pdr gun is perfectly fine with our loadout,
>>
>>31898335
I still do not get people saying they can't get kills seeing how they have one of are highest kill counts
>>
>>31898457
from the fact that the added extension box is made from thin armor plate and the 6pdr weighs not a lot compared to most tank guns
>>
>>31898453
I ain't even mad that they want to keep the S35.

I just don't want to be using it in ITL matches.
>>
>>31898454
>bed bugs
Jesus Christ how horrifying.
Thankfully they're really rare in my part of the world, all we have in bed are tiny lice that are impossible to detect anyway.
>>
>>31898454
Will we be able to get it for the Shop?

We can just upgun the Somua right and only need to buy the 6pdr.
>>
>>31898454
That's it for tonight's thread. I should be able to return tomorrow at 3 PM EST as usual.

Follow at: https://twitter.com/GermanSchteel

See you next time.

Someone better not sneak in with a camera
Thanks for running Schteel, see you tommorow.
>>
>>31898489
>impossible to detect anyway

Isn't that kinda worse, though?
>>
>>31898488
we kind of have to unless we suddenly come into possession of a bunch more tanks and crews

they want to keep it and we got outvoted for selling and replacing it, so we have to use it

this conversion is a means to still be able to actually engage opposition with it without constantly scratching their pant
>>
>>31898499
Thanks for running. This is the first time I've made it for the entire session. Good Times.

Has anyone archived this?
>>
>>31898454
D'awwwwww.

Thanks for running!
>>
>>31898498
it needs some work on it to cut the turret face our and fabricate and install the turret extension, but that shouldn't be too much on top of what a 6pdr would cost
>>
>>31898499
Can we upgun it at the Tank Shop german?

The 6pdr Souma
>>
>>31898526
Schteel himself usually archives it.
>>
>>31898516
Naaah, when they're too small to see with the naked eye I just lump them in with bacteria in a 'why worry they're everywhere' kinda way. They don't drink blood or really give a shit about the person, only the fluff, so.
>>
>>31898498
>>31898546

The S35 with 6 Pounder would be listed as an unusual conversion.

That means it would probably have to go through Perrine because as it stands, the unusual conversion has to be replicated to the EXACT degree of which it was built, something that only Perrine really has the capacity to do.

If you wanted to do it yourself, you could possibly contact the ITL to send over judges to perhaps oversee the construction process and advise.
>>
>>31898564
Ah, okay.

I was getting worried for you, bby.
>>
>>31898574
cool, so next thread lets call up our favorite heretic and finally start making the S35 useful
>>
>>31898582
Awww, it's okay. I'm safe!
>>
>>31898574
>>31898610
We haven't talked to Perrine in a while...

I hope she isn't offended.

>>31898643
Cool! :3
>>
>>31898610

Yea its not like the s35 is one of our highest scoring teams.
>>
>>31898574

How would you say it would affect the tank?

Will its performance suffer?
>>
>>31898574
Could we still do the S40 convert or would it no longer be legal? The S40's performance would be nice to have with the 6lbdr
>>
>>31898863
If speed is an issue, we could upgrade the engine.
>>
>>31898942
I wish for that too but it wasn't built for the S40
>>
>>31898952

I'm not worried about speed.

I'm worried about a headon shell instantly knocking out the S35 since nothing is mentioned of armor.
>>
>>31898942
the conversion wasn't made on that tank so no, you can't have your cake and eat it to
>>
>>31899001
ya like most field jobs like this it was meant more just to get a big gun
>>
>>31899001
its salvaged armor plate from wrecked armored vehicles of equivalent thickness to the existing armor of the S35

and a headon shell would instantly knock the S35 out as it is without this upgrade...

you think it can actually bounce or deflect a shot? its armor is pathetic
>>
>>31899001
it should be the same as the S35, besides we made it into a scout tank.

Taking shots isn't its purpose.

>>31898952
We already did that before Chihatan
>>
>>31898574
I'm surprised the Stuart didn't go through the same thing
>>
Well I found where some of the Technical Manuals are held for the M26

Box 1368: 300.7 Technical Manual 9-735 to 300.7 Technical Manual 9-739
>>
>>31899238

whoa.
>>
>>31899238
>http://research.archives.gov/description/895294
I love you the way....

Now I'm having an inner struggle between a Callenger and a Pershing
>>
>>31899296
whynotboth.jpg

we had that back and forth between another panther and a firefly, then got both tanks

we be smart about it and be smart about our money and we can get both
>>
>>31899310

Thats assuming they ever pop up again.

The chances of both tanks appearing is very low and we don't know when we'd see a decent tank in the shop.
>>
>>31899359
We can get another Cromwell from William Adams.

Maybe buy a Pershing from Telsa team or Ace
>>
>>31899359
We can also buy a chassis or corpse of a Pershing from Perrine?
