You sit on the crumbled remains of a hospital door taking it all in for a minute. You’re the CEO of the largest corporation on the planet, head of one of the oldest and most prestigious families on the globe, and yet here you sit. Stabbed, maimed, choked, and walking past death’s door as if it were your own at this point.

Your sister, well, one of your sisters, is a militaristic figure-head who lead nothing short of humanity’s rebellion against a symbiotic, alien that manifested itself as clothing. These beings have the power to dominate minds, and catapult humanity into extraordinary territory in terms of power to say the least. And she beat them, using mostly high-schoolers. Oh, and your own mother led the attempted take-over, enslavement, and destruction of earth that Satsuki had been fighting against since the age of five.

You would like to believe that your goals are the same, but it really all falls on Satsuki on this point. If she did it once, surely she can do it again? Ah, to be a Kiryuin. La vie c'est drôle, no?

[] Stand up and check on Satsuki.

Standing up hurts quite a bit; it’s straining on your bruised body, but accomplishable. Your sisters stare at you as you stand up, passive aggressive seems to be their current stance at this point. Guess you haven’t quite won their favor with your actions?

“Ah, no, its fine, I’ve got it.” You say, trying to lighten up the mood. They don’t seem to bite, and both maintain a defensive stance as you finally manage to stand tall. The false smile you delivered your earlier line with begins to fade to a small frown.

The mixed assortment of doctors, nurses, and security just look on, mostly staring at the gargantuan blonde man.
“Satsuki, we didn’t get off on the right foot. But, there is something I need to check before we can exchange formalities.”

She maintains her expressionless face, and questions somewhat blankly. “And what do you need to check?”

“The thread I broke on the back of your skull. It’s stopped bleeding, which is good…” Your expression grows a little more serious, and somewhat melancholy. “But the memories it was repressing or otherwise manipulating should have come back.”

She picks up her sword, and sheathes it, staring at you intently as she does. “And what guarantee do I have that you won’t pull another stunt as before."

You weren’t expecting an exactly warm welcome, but this is teetering on the brink of paranoia, and your nerves are finally beginning to wear a bit thin.

You breathe in as heavily as you can, and let out a long, drawn-out sigh, milking it for all it’s worth in its melodramatic goodness. She’s tough, but it’s turned into stubbornness at this point, and you can’t leave that wound unattended, unless there is another courtier around. You begin, trying to strike a conciliatory tone that seems to be missing.

“Satsuki, I made a mistake. I admit it. I’ve been thoroughly pummeled, and barely have the strength to move. Stabbed by your allies? You bet. Late for how many meetings at REVOCS? Who knows?”

She begins to speak, but you cut her off.

“The thread needed to be removed. I was hoping memories of yours truly would flood back into your mind, but it seems that isn’t the case, and this brings up even further concerns. Now is neither the time nor the place to argue semantics. I need to inspect the wound undoubtedly left by the Seishin Karinui-”

“Seishin Karinui?” She interrupts, concern now devouring her, and all of her allies’ faces.

“Yes, the ‘Mental Refitting’ thread-” Again you are cut off.

“Fine. But not out here.” She turns and walks into your hospital room, and immediately sits on one of waiting chairs. From the room, she further barks. “Everyone! Into the room. Gamagoori, the door, if you please. No need for prying eyes.”

The large man pushes you effortlessly into the room before grabbing the broken door, and shakily refitting it back onto its frame. He then assumes a guard’s position in front of the door, covering the holes left by the dilapidated entrance.

All eyes are on you. The gravity of situation has finally hit them, and they’re all on the edge of their seats. Literally, they’ve taken all of the available chairs in the room, and have crowded around Satsuki. You walk over to where Satsuki is sitting, and bend down to your knees to get a better view of the wound. It’s been while since you’ve last had to deal with a refitting.

The first step is to always remove the thread as quickly as possible, which you’ve done. You begin to inspect the fragments left by Seishin Karinui. There is one small circular wounds where the thread was bored. Looking at the surrounding scar tissue, it seems to have been there for a while. You can’t give a precise estimate, but it has been multiple years. That would probably mean…

“Ragyo. This is her handiwork.”

Satsuki maintains her composure, but questions, “And how can you tell?”

“Well, there are three people in the world who can successfully thread a life-fiber into a target’s brain without… short-circuiting the target into a coma, or death. Also…“ You begin while brushing away some of the hair near the wound. And there it is, always the flaunting artist. “There is the small matter of her signature near the wound.”

Inumuta, Nonon, Ryuuko, and Gamagoori all crowd in and focus on the small signature underneath the wound. RK, in admittingly beautiful cursive; if only it weren’t spelled with scarred tissue.

You get up and walk over to window. All eyes are still on you, as you nonchalantly place your elbows on the window’s sill. Your voice, characteristically either professional or somewhat cheery, goes into a melancholic area reserved for a very serious conversation. And this is that very serious conversation.

“To begin: the slight unease you feel from your compatriots isn’t unjustified by a long jump. Our mother’s initials, RK, are carved into your neck. It’s her calling card she likes to put into people she personally saw to refit. The implications of this are two-fold: one, she didn’t want you know I existed. Two: you’re strong-willed enough that the normal Seishin Karinui wouldn’t work on you.”

She gets up from her chair and stares at you now matching the same discomfort that the others in the room are expressing. “There is more than one form of Seishin Karinui?”

“Yes, it’s a Kiryuin trademark actually. Normally, anything with a nervous system can be manipulated by Seishin Karinui as long as they are dimwitted enough, or they’re emotionally unbalanced.” You can’t help but smile as you say the next part, “Knowing you, you are neither, so she resorted to personally ‘threading’ your memory. I call it Ultima Seishin Karinui.”

“It’s… more permanent than the other. It can be reversed, but it’s purely a function of time.” You smile even more at the next part, suppressing the urge to let your happiness truly show. “Which means that you’ll remember me… at some point.”

She stares at you, her anger becoming more apparent to you. You quickly drop the smile, and bring your tone back to a base doctoral tone.

“Next, you’ll want me to prove that it wasn’t me, right? That I wasn’t complacent? I’m not Ragyo, Satsuki. I love you and all of my sisters more than I can prove at this juncture, but maybe I can put your mind somewhat at ease.” You turn around and face the wall, with your back facing Satsuki and her comrades. You lower your hospital gown away from your neck, and lift up the hair covering the bottom of your neck.

“Sister, who do you think she practiced on?”

The sight revealed to Satsuki and her allies shock them. You manage to even goat a small gasp out of Satsuki. The back of you neck resembles a bombing ground, the number of gaping holes are almost too innumerable to count. Looking more closely at the back of your skull, a few of same wound-type can be seen through your hairline. And each and every one of the them has a scarred signature etched into your body until your own expiration, just like branded cattle: RK. There are even a few with a little heart symbol.

You turn back around to face them, and continue. "Satsuki, you can stab me all you want. Hit me, hate me, altogether consider me the worst being in existence. I'm perfectly fine with that. But, let it be known that each of those wounds were inflicted on me in our mother's vain attempt to erase my memory of you. I refused each time, and ripped each and every thread from my own skull."

She seems... speechless. She's definitely in a vulnerable state, and seems susceptible to reason, minus the paranoia. You doubt you can breakthrough completely until those lost memories are restored, but maybe you can at least progress? Lord knows you don't have the time to waste.

You stand there, muttering to yourself. It’s incoherent to them, but it’s completely coherent to you. They just don’t understand you, not like I do. They are definitely concerned. A little too concerned. Wasn’t Satsuki the one who was paranoid? But, what if you go back to the cage? No, we can’t go back there. No, no, no. That isn’t acceptable.

“THAT ISN’T FUCKING ACCEPTABLE!” You yell at full strength, punching through the wall in front of you. You run your free hand over your face. Satsuki Kiryuin. My sister. Why would I employ Ultima Mental Refitting on her? Because she’s mean? It’s… understandable. You haven’t been a champion of rationale yourself. You look at your fist. You’ve rammed it through the hospital wall. Good thing it wasn’t made of sheetrock, otherwise your stay here would be even longer. You pull your bleeding hand out of the wall, and try to save face. You turn around and cough a bit, raising both your arms in the air and stretching a bit as well.

Their confusion knows no depth. One minute you’re babbling like a psychopath, punching walls, the next minute you stand there casually stretching. Nonon looks like she is ready to say something, but she just can’t find the words. Wonder what she wants to say? Oh well.

You lower your arms and continue, having successfully regained full control of YOUR faculties.

“Satsuki, you remember nothing of me? I remember plenty about you. But there is one thing I would like to exhibit. You walk over to the small nightstand next your bed, open the drawer. You hope the hospital staff didn’t pilfer the contents of your suit, and simply put it here. As luck has it, it’s here. You turn around, and while they’ve all assumed a defensive combat stance, they soon touch down to a casual composure.

You pose in as grand of a stand as you can showcasing the object you’ve pulled out. It’s your only trump card. Your voice booms with the authority of heaven itself.

“Behold! MR. OINKEY!”

You hold the small, pink stuffed pig as if it were the Dead Sea Scrolls being shown to the devout masses for the first time. You gleam with delight, surely she can’t forget Mr. Oinkey.

The looks on the faces of those burdened masses… are now even more confused than they were before. Minus the red-streaked one. She lights up with a smile in her face, and then turns to Satsuki. They whisper between each other and then both turn to you with a stern look…

Satsuki again tries to interrupt the repertoire between yourself and Ryuuko, but it’s too late. You’ve grabbed ahold of Ryuuko’s interest, and you aren’t going to let go. This is your way in, and hopefully your way out of constant assault.

“Oh so many suns and moons ago, there were two little tykes, Satsuki and Hinode. Satsuki must have been around… oh, one and a half, maybe two years old? Still in training pants, mind you.”

Ryuuko lets loose a devilish grin, and plops herself flat on the floor, and begins to kick her legs back and forth. Seems she is getting revenge for something Satsuki did, and is enjoying every bit of it. You can’t help but notice that Inumuta and Nonon have similarly taken a seat and assumed a relaxed position. Gamagoori, strangely, has covered his ears, and is facing away from the rest of the group, choosing to stare through the door instead.

You flash the best brotherly smile you can at Satsuki, but she doesn’t seem to lighten up. Oh well, most of the audience is captivated.
“It was nearing the birthday of one of the local kids that liked to pick on Satsuki. Despite my best efforts to punch reason into him, he continued trying to bully poor little Satsuki. He was the really nerdy type” You say making sure to focus your gaze on Inumuta. “So beating him senseless wasn’t too hard for my five year old self. He would gather his friends, and throw around whatever doll she happened to be carrying around, most of the time tearing it to pieces in front of her before I could get there to break it up.”

“Your favorite dolls where the ‘Three Little Pigs’ set you had. You were so scared of losing them, that you didn’t even play with them anymore. You came over to me one day, balling large tears, and said that you would like “to be able to play dress-up with Mr. Oinkey. So, I came up with a plan. If I couldn’t beat the sense into them, maybe I could scare the sense into them.”

this amuses me.

You put on a more introspective tone. “Father and mother didn’t exactly hide the life fibers in our house. They weren’t exactly flaunted, but if you stay there long enough, it’s not hard to grab some out of father’s work jacket. So I did just that. I got a spool of some of the thinner life fibers, and wrapped it around Mr. Oinkey. Too thin for the naked eye to see, at least.”

“Well, this kid’s birthday comes around, and as were both important families, we are naturally invited, and coerced into going to this kid’s party, even though neither of us liked him, and he didn’t like us. At least we were allowed to pick out his present. So, I packed away Mr. Oinkey, leaving a tiny bit of the stand of life fiber hanging out of the box.”
“Satsuki and I avoid him most of the party, until the gift opening begins. I sit Satsuki down in the front row with Dad, and sneak off from Mom’s sight and stealthily get behind the gift table. I find the strand from our little ‘present’, and split it into a few strands like a marionette. And I wait.”

By this point, Ryuuko is completely engaged, with Nonon in a close second, and even Inumuta seems to be typing at the pace of my speech. Satsuki is still not amused, and Gamagoori has completely tuned us out.

“Finally, he gets to our present and I put on my best scary voice, and say to him, ‘YOU HAVE ANGERED MR. OINKEY THE POWERFUL. BEG FOR FORGIVENESS FROM SATSUKI KIRYUIN, AND PREY SHE IS MERCIFUL.’ All the while, I’ve gotten Mr. Oinkey to stand up and seemingly float a good foot above the box, having him point at the kid, and even getting the mouth to move a bit.”

“The kid is still uppity, and start laughing mockingly, saying something to the effect, ‘Oh, and what is a stuffed pig going to do?’” So I had Mr. Oinkey beat the kid up a bit. Gave him the ol’ one-two punch, and he was flat on his back. He started to cry, ran to his mommy, and everything.” At this point you have to pause, as those people listening begin to laugh, and you even join in on the laughter. After a bit, the laughter dies down, and you resume the rest of the story.

“Well, I did a little TOO good of a job, as I made most of the kids in the front row begin to cry… including Satsuki. I knew I had to act fast, so I had Mr. Oinkey float down from the sky to the ground, and ‘walk’ over to her.” You can’t help but look over directly into Satsuki’s eyes and smile at the next part. Her eyes are just the same as they were on that day. Frightened at what is happening. But you know how to soothe those fears away.

“So I have Mr. Oinkey give a little speech to her. ‘My dear lady. You have nothing to fear! I’m just a pig in human clothing after all, OINK OINK!’ I had him do a little dance, and that seemed to make her feel better, and calm the nerves of everyone there. So, after the dance, I had him say one last thing: ‘As long as the Three Little Pigs have a good home, and someone to care for them, we’ll protect you until the end! Everyone clapped at the piggy speech, and at that point, I snuck back around from behind the table, to make sure Satsuki was alright.”

“And...” You can’t help but tear up at this part. Everyone at this point, even Satsuki to an extent, is waiting with faded breath. “And, you handed me Mr. Oinkey, and said ‘I can’t think of anyone better to take care of him! I’ll make sure all the Little Pigs always have someone to take care of them.’”

You look back at Ryuuko, who has a dumbfounded expression on her face.

“Right when I saw your eyes light up looking at Mr. Oinkey, I knew whom received the third little piglet.” You say as you walk over to Ryuuko.

She’s gotten up at this point, and is looking directly at the ground, fists balled and trembling a bit. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you, Ryuuko. I know what our mother did, and how she responded. I thought you were dead until today, the sister I was never able to meet. It seems even little Miss Satsuki did a better job protecting you than I.” You look over to Satsuki, giving her an approving nod. She now has the same dumbfounded look on her face. It looks like you’re right to assume that she gave Ryuuko the last piglet.

“He was… my favorite toy. I didn’t have a name for him, but of all the little toys I had when I was with dad, he was my favorite. He told me, ‘Someone special gave this to you. Protect it.’ He never explained what he meant…”

You reach over to Ryuuko, and hold her tightly. She doesn’t cry, but you can tell she’s trying to choke back her emotions. “I’m a terrible brother. But don’t worry, I’ll repent.”
