You are Tumahti, Toa of Earth, and you are going to talk to Onua.

The (other) Toa of Earth is staring into the fire. You look at him. You know he sensed your approach; if you can sense vibrations in the ground he probably has the same ability.

Does he not want to talk to you?

Whenua notices you. "Onua is... reticent."

Onua speaks without turning his head away from the fire. "Unity would be best, but if we are to protect the Matoran, guarding all six Koro would be impractical. I am going to Onu-Koro to do what I can. You may choose to do likewise."

You can't really think of anything to say to that. He seems reasonable.

On the other side of the circle, Lewa is talking to the other Turaga. "Hey! I didn't get a question! How many masks are on this island anyway?"

"Eleven Great Kanohi."

Onua speaks again, this time more softly.

"There are seven of us, and eleven Masks. You understand what this means." It is a statement, not a question. You nod. "I know the masks will be difficult to obtain. If we work together to do so, we may obtain Unity as well. This lesson may take them some time to discover. In that time, I will help the Matoran."

Incisive, but it doesn't really leave you any room to speak.

Are there any more questions you would like to ask of the Turaga? Are there any Toa you want to talk to? (Before you ask the Turaga about the mask, of course).

[ ] Ask the Turaga questions (write-in).

[ ] Speak to Gali on the other side of the bridge.

[ ] Chase Kopaka down. Once you get to know him, you're sure he'll be cool.

[ ] Go after Tahu. He might stumble onto something interesting.

[ ] Talk to Pohatu. He's kneeling on the stone floor, examining it closely.

[ ] Exchange words with Lewa.
>>
Oh, and another thing. How should I space my sentences? Is the above fine?
>>
>>32089221
I'd try to keep it bookish. There's a bit too much space, although much of it is caused by dialogue. I'd try to keep the story bits together, and try to separate your Prompts from the text a bit. Maybe put a bit more space between when you stop narrating and start talking directly to us.
>>
>>32089221
Double spacing everything is kinda harder to read for me. I don't mind it for the Choices. but... I dunno. I prefer the story sentences in chunks i guess.. maybe dialogue separate. But yeah...

Otherwise. Way to preach the truth Onua.

I vote.
>[ ] Speak to Gali on the other side of the bridge.

failing that I wouldn't mind talking to Lewa, my second fave after Tahu.
>>
>>32089221
Yes, it's fine.

Lack of twitter is not fine

>>
>>32089385
I registered a twitter account and am currently twiddling my thumbs.

Do you want to say anything in particular to Gali or just walk up and see what happens?
>>
If you want to talk to Gali, I mean.
>>
Also, everyone, I was thinking about this quest today, specifically about how we wanted Tumahti's personality to be developed as she interacted with people. And I think this is our first opportunity for that.

She now knows that she's part of a group of guardians, heroes, that are supposed to save Mata Nui. The problem is, there was only supposed to be 6. I get the feeling that once her confusion on the situation wears off, she's going to start questioning her specific purpose here.

Since we picked Earth and not one of the weird elements, we can't say that Destiny was just trying to round out the team. Its entirely possible, from an in character point of view, that our arrival on Mata Nui was a complete accident.

I feel like Tumahti will sooner or later question the Turaga, perhaps Whenau, about the Toa in general. Especially once the other Toa begin to become a true team.

Mind you, this is all just pure speculation and imagination at this point. Just trying to flesh out our character some more.
>>
>>32089552
I sorta want to know where she stands regarding "Trusting Us" or "Not Trusting Us". Maybe if she trusts us we can get an idea of where we should go from here? Help her out? Or get a "Job" from her?

Otherwise she always seems to be the one thats next up in terms of the "Unity" scale. And well... I remember her being occasionally disharmonious with Tahu, but I don't know.
>>
>>32089620
Well let's see where she stands on the idea of random seventh toa, then maybe ask the Turaga how they know we're a Toa?
>>
>>32089621
Yeah, I feel like we as a second toa of earth makes us kind of redundant, which might be interesting in terms of storytelling. Bionicle stories are always about the toa uniting because of their different skills and stuff but we are like legit 4th/7th wheel here. When the other toa become a team and united, we'll still be on our own... and thats the antithesis of the Toa Code.

Other than the fact that we're twice their size and can work elemental magic?

I mean what else could we be? Whatever the Piraka are?
>>
>>32089768
And that's another thing I was thinking of. Sometime, probably after we first beat Makuta, we can ask Whenau about other Toa. We'll probably feel left out and alone after the first real show of the strength of a team of Toa. If/When we find out about other Toa teams, it might become our driving purpose to find out team, who could be fighting without us somewhere else, or could all be scattered and alone.

>>32089813
I mean, we didn't recognize any of the terms Nokama was throwing around. I doubt we really understand what a Toa is, other than a tall person. Plus, Vakama asked if we were 'Krahka' which was the shape-shifting thing the Toa Metru encountered. So, if nothing else, we might be curious why Nokama is so sure.
>>
>>32089905
Krakha joined them during the Hordika Arc; she fought the Zivon with the Tahtorak. They left on good terms. Krakha would have revealed herself.
>>
>>32090079
Huh. Good to know. Still, Tumahti knows none of this. All she knows is Vakama thought there'd only be six Toa, saw her, said "Krahka?", and then Nokama assured him Tumahti was a Toa. Might be an interesting thing to ask him.
>>
>>32089813
Skakdi have a distinctive appearance.

>>32089656
Onua just watches, Gali wants unity, Potahu wants everyone to get along, Lewa is fine either way, Tahu wants everyone to get along under him, and Kopaka doesn't like company.

>>32089621
She might. I suppose we'll find out.

I'm going to take fifteen minutes or so to eat.

As you cross the bridge, you can hear water rushing though the bottom of the chasm. The Suva Kaita in front of you is surrounded by six stone statues- the six other Toa. You aren't there. Should you be? You cut that line of thought short, but it lingers there in the back of your mind.

You round the Suva Kaita proper, a dome-shaped structure. Gali is sitting on the other side, looking contemplative. She notices you just as you're about to speak.

>>32089656
"Do you trust me?"

"Why wouldn't I? Is there some reason I shouldn't?"

It takes you a second to realize she's joking, but you respond seriously.

"Because we're all strangers. We've given each other no reason to. Aside from that, do you believe in prophecy?"

Gali sighs. "The statues and stars are real enough. Whether or not you're supposed to be here, this island needs defenders."

You've been expecting that, but it still smarts.
She continues.

"Look. We're all bewildered. All six- all seven of us just washed- I'm sorry, alright? It was a slip." A pause. "The prophecy fortold six Toa arriving, so there's something wrong with it. It's not like there's even a group you're getting barred from."

The stars are almost painfully bright, as if the sun was revealed through pinpricks in the night sky.

Gali is speaking from underwater very far away. "I could have phrased that better. If we were a cohesive group, we would welcome you in- no, you would be a member. How does that sound?"

You tell Gali that it sounds fine, thank you very much, and walk away. You can feel her eyes on your back as you walk back across the bridge.

You're sure she's distracted and stressed too, although it's hard to make yourself care.

You can hear her walking over the bridge behind you. All the Toa but Kopaka and Tahu are present, although Onua remains quiet and Gali isn't saying anything.
---

Now what? You should do something. Yeah... That sounds like a good idea.

[ ] Lewa and Pohatu seem to be animatedly discussing something. Maybe talking to them would be interesting?

You ask Turaga Vakama to inspect the mask.

"The shape is that of a Kanohi Hau, so the most probable power is Shielding. Rare exceptions exist, but... this mask is strange. Where did you find it?"

You tell him, and he sighs. "It's remarkable that it survived as long as it did. You're lucky you didn't put it on." He motions the other Toa closer. "This is something you need to hear. Makuta has infected this mask with his dark power. Wearing it would put you under his control. All Toa have two types of energy: Elemental Energy, which is expended to control the elements and recharges, and Toa Energy, the spark which animates you, which you can expend as Destiny wills, and of which you have a limited supply. If you invest some of that Toa Energy into a Great Mask to cleanse it, that much will be lost forever.
>>
>>32092610
>If you invest some of that Toa Energy into a Great Mask to cleanse it, that much will be lost forever.
AND THEN YOU BECOME SHORT
>>
>>32092610
Dangerous choice then. We can cleanse it and get an extra mask. But seeing that we already have a Hau user in Tahu we might not need to. Plus energy we use cleansing this one mask could be better used on cleansing the mask of someone actually possessed by makuta. We best gather whatever infected masks we can and store em someplace safe.
>>
>>32092666
Maybe the turaga keep them in the kraata cave stasis jail?
>>
>>32092666
This seems like a good idea. Nui knows, the Turaga did it with the Kraata, they can do it with masks.

I do like the Toa Energy mechanic. I guess that's how we'd become a Turaga?
>>
>>32089731
What mask is that? A Calix?
>>
>>32092654
Yup. Vakama neglected to mention that- partially cause he's still kinda sensitive about his height.

>>32092666
We don't have access to a Hau; Tahu stomped off into the jungle. Gathering and storing masks... Wonder where Onewa's been...

I chose to change the method of mask cleansing to give it a bit more of an edge.

>>

>>32092711

>>>32092743
>I like the change. Even if I don't know the original >.<

According to the wiki originally you basically blasted it with 6 toa elements and hoped you aimed properly.
>>
>>32092803
Toa Energy is usually spent as a sort of last resort to do something especially crazy. From bringing the dead back to life right on the spot, to creating elemental cages to contain beings of great evil (read Makuta, the Bahrahg Queens, and some other things), to super charging a mask to heal the cosmos, and even great bursts of elemental energy that royally wreck a place. Its a power used to enact a great change of some sort.

we don't know how much, or little, toa energy we have. So again, its one of those things we have to reserve just in case.
>>
>>32092872
That's ... an interesting method of cleansing.

Now I've got this image of the Toa on one of their off days, sitting in a hut next to a giant pile of corrupted Kanohi, cleansing them, and throwing them in a new pile.
>>
Sorry. I thought I posted, but it didn't show up. Let me rewrite my post.
>>
>>32093179
Hate when that happens.
>>
Nobody seems inclined to sacrifice unrenewable potential for a mask that isn't theirs, so you leave it with Turaga Vakama.

Pohatu and Lewa have decided to journey as far as Le-Koro together. Gali seems relieved; at least two of the Toa are fine with each other.

The night passes. It looks like everybody will leave in the morning. You haven't decided where to go yet. You're standing at the Suva Kaita when Gali approaches you.

"There's a shrine, the Ga-Kini, across the island from here in the north of Ga-Wahi, that I'm heading to. Nokama told me that a Kanohi Kaukau was hidden on the southern tip of Po-Wahi, near the shrine. I already have one, so you can go there if you want."

She obviously feels bad about what she said. This is her way of trying to make up for it.

---

Do you...

[ ] See if you can beat Kopaka to the top of Mount Ihu. You're pretty good at rockclimbing.

[ ] Go with Gali. You could head to Ga-Koro or Po-Koro once you retrieve the mask.

[ ] Join Pohatu and Lewa on their trek to Le-Koro. You weren't invited, but you don't think they'll care... much.
