Once everything else is taken care for, you pack a few essential supplies and borrow a horse from Tianna's royal stables, ready to journey northwards into the lands of the Three River tribes. Your butler Regis and your maid Millian will stay behind, and you arranged to meet up with Mikahil and Five Tails once there.

You've never been there, in fact, but you learned a few things about the area and its inhabitants ever since you met Tia, Talon and Zaan and signed the alliance between them and Tianna.
The Three Rivers are a loose confederacy of somewhere around thirty tribes, most of them semi-nomadic, at least as far as the island will allow them to be: some of them live close to the shore and fish, but none has a habit to travel on the ocean.
Three of the most influential tribes are led by the Lunars themselves, but only Tia has taken a direct, personal leadership role: Zaan, as far as you know, is a respected shaman and advisor, and Talon is the one with the most subtle approach, and probably the most influence, given that the entire confederacy was his doing. In the past, the tribes didn't get along that well among themselves... Or with Tianna for that matter.
He's also the one who's been around the longest (about three years, compared with Zaan's year and Tia's few months).

You idly wonder how much all that's been going on must have wrecked Talon's plans and projects for the Three Rivers. He probably had long-term social experiments that requred at least a generation or two to develop properly... With the abyssals and you coming along, that's probably out of the window.

You hope he's feeling better now. He went through a rough time during the attack on Tarien Dorian's fortress, after all.

After about a day of riding through rough, rocky plains and woodlands, you finally see the first signs that you've entered in the Black Fangs' territory: talismans and small bells and wind chimes hanging from tree branches, elaborate tribal incisions on the trunks. And some skulls, mostly animal, some human, on wooden poles or hanging from trees as well.

"This is usually the point beyond which they consider you an intruder, right?" you ask your travelling companions, not having a lot of experience in tribal customs yourself.

"Usually." Mikahil explains. "I'd say the skulls are a good message."

"Flare your Anima and Castemark." Five Tails points out.

"You think they'll recognize us?" you wonder.

"Maybe." she points at the talismans and windchimes. "These guys have knowledge of seals and wards and of the occult in general, and besides, some of them fought alongside you in that swamp, right? They'll recognize us, or at least go and ask Tia first." she says, confidently striding across the border as the glow of Essence gathers around her. You and Mikahil follow.

It doesn't take long until you're intercepted by a patrol, approaching carefully and suspiciously: three warriors with spears and bows, either scouts or hunters, or maybe both. They make themselves seen and bar your way, but with weapons lowered and saying nothing.

"I'm Tia's wife." you step forward and tell them. "We're here to meet her."

They glance to each other and nod. "Follow us." one of them replies.

After some more traveling through the forest, you reach their village.

It's larger than you expected, a valley in the middle of the forest with a mixture of teepee-style tents and wooden huts with leaf roofs. You see artisans sculpting wood, treating leather, making arrows and sewing clothes and a variety of other jobs. Older warriors and hunters teaching youngsters how to properly hold a bow, a shaman sharing stories around a fire where some stew is boiling in a pot, meat and fish hanging from poles and left to dry and a small mill driven by a shallow but fast water stream. In the distance, you hear the repeated hammer strikes of an iron forge. It feels busy and industrious.

"These guys are good." Five Tails seems pleased. "I wonder if it's part of Talon's project. Except for a few restrictions due to having a semi-nomadic lifestyle, they seem about as advanced as most of the folks that would consider themselves civilized."

"Is it that unusual?" you wonder. To you, these people seem still quite backwards, even if they do look like honest folk. Most of the people around you have now dropped their chores to stare at you worriedly, each taking some time to wonder who the heck you are and if you are a threat.

"I've seen tribes of wyld barbarians where the ability to bash two rocks together was considered high technology." She replies. Meanwhile, the tribesmen start talking among themselves: apparently at least a couple of them fought Tarien Dorian together with you, and are reassuring the others.

"I'm sorry." After your arrival, the warriors escorting you have entered in a small hut, adorned with talismans and wind chimes and painted in loud colors. From it, a tough-looking barbarian woman walks out, addressing you directly. She has a proud, defiant look in her eyes, not hostile, but like she wants to let you know that she's not afraid of you. "Chieftaness Tia is out wit the hunters. You can wait for her return here, unless you have need of anything that our hospitality can provide." She plants her fists on her waist. "I am Iscariah, shaman of the Black Fangs."

Right! Sorry. Got distracted.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble recently Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. She's in the western city of Tianna as a guest of queen Amata, an old friend. Abyssals are targeting the city for conquest, Lintha pirates have infiltrated it with spies and agents, and the Realm is probably planning to get rid of you. Enjoy.

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=zenith

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability. Yes, this means that the more people are posting, the stronger Maka is, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

"Actually, I wanted to ask you a bit about your tribe. I'm curious to learn more." You ask her.

"We were one of the Three Tribes, the first to reach this island from our lands in the West when the sea became hungry and the shapeless triumphed over Creation. Then, the Rain of Iron came and ashed them away, but we swore to never move our homes across the sea again." She tells, sitting down next to the fire. "Our tribe split many times and found new gods and spirits here, and we made ourselves at home. But the big changes started three years ago, when the Wise Wolf started sharing his secrets with us."

"Secrets?" You wonder.

"How to shape iron and magic. Since then, we are changing our ways. The Wise Wolf stands with another tribe, so we have been waiting for a Lunar to stand with us as well. Tia does not have his wisdom, but she has strength, and that suits us better perhaps." She looks straight at you. "If you are Tia's spouse, you will have to undergo the trials and join the tribe as well, or you will have no respect here."

>I don't need your respect.

You shrug. "I can do your trials if you need them, but I'm sure I don't need to to earn your respect." You reply.

"Oh?" Iscariah lifts an eyebrow. "What would you mean?"

You stand up. "I'm an Exalted." You remind her, in case your castemark wasn't clear enough.

Mikahil prudently intervenes: "Now, now, no sense arguing among us like this. How about we wait for Tia before starting this initiation ritual?"

You nod.

About a couple hours pass.
Finally, news arrives that the hunting party is returning. After five minutes more, they appear, a small group of archers and spearmen followed by Tia, carrying five deer stacked one atop the other on her shoulder, casually chatting with a tribesman.

You wave to her, and the moment she sees you, she freezes and drops the load immediately.

"Uh, Tia?" Honestly, you were kind of expecting this reaction. All you can do is brace yourself.

She just walks up to you, with rigid, mechanical motions. "...Tia?"

All of sudden, she falls down, fainting.

You exchange glances with Mikahil and Five Tails as the tribesmen suddenly worry about their chieftaness.

>she's just tired, bring some water.

"...I'll bring her to bed. You know how Tia is." You tell the others, picking her up in your arms. "Does she have a hut or a tent here?"

Iscariah frowns, probably not a fan of letting you act like you own the space despite not being a member of the tribe, but keeps that for herself and says nothing, just inviting you to follow her into a large leather tent painted blue and green.

The inside is rather simple, with little more than a carpet of thick, comfy-looking pelts. "The chieftaness has been talking about you almost non-stop ever since leaving your side." She explains, helping you to put her down comfortably. "She's been missing you."

"I know." You smile. "Honestly, she's such a handful." You look at Iscariah. "What's with those eyes?"

"...nothing." She lies, turning about and leaving the tent abruptly.

Wasn't Tia's new mentor suppose to be a good person?
>>
"I think both you and Tia just did what you wanted to do. No one took advantage of no one else, and nothing wrong happened." You console her. "You kept company to a lonely and frustrated young girl who is particularly hard to satisfy, and that's something you should be proud, and not guilty, of."

"Thank you." She says, impassible, but with eyes glistening.

That's about when Tia starts to stir and open her eyes. Iscariah is about to excuse herself, but you tug her cloak again, signalling that you want her to stay.

"...Maka?" She mumbles.

"Here." You reply with a warm smile.

"...How did you manage to get even hotter while I was away?"

"The power of love." You reply.

A few seconds of happy silence follow, as Iscariah unfastens her cloak and the rest of her pelts. You already knew this, but you admit Tia has really good taste. She also seems to have the kind of tough-looking body that could manage to keep up with her. For a bit.

You'll have to introduce her to Zareen someday, maybe do some compare and contrast...

"...did my puppies get even bigger?" Tia wonders.

"Your pupp- oh. Millian is sure they did."

"I'll need to inspect them personally. You've been gone for so long, I need to check exactly how much you've grown."

"...it was two weeks, Tia."

"That's what I just said."

Tia is the best, if anyone tries to dispute this they are objectively wrong.
>>
Tia's love, while passionate, is not as rough and violent as you were worried it might have been. You can imagine it's at least partly thanks to Iscariah, and partly because Tia has matured a lot from the animalistic, instinctive beast she was when you first met her.
However, she still gets her full fill of Maka and more. And, as you suspected, she almost certainly developed, while you were apart, some powers that help her keep up with you. Either as useful side effects of more practical functions, or specifically because she was tired to "lose" to you in bed.

The one who has to bear the brunt of your competitiveness is, of course, Iscariah, caught in the middle (sometimes literally), who still puts up a remarkable struggle for a mortal.

At least you get her to accept you in the tribe without wasting time with any trials.

As night falls, with the three of you lying in the twist of warm, comfortable furs and pelts (and the tent, surprisingly, still standing), you inform her on what she missed in Tianna.

That said, I'm not willing to say for sure what I want at the moment. We're 7 experience from any of those. If we're REALLY CLOSE to fighting the Lintha 2-4 sessions from now, then yeah, I'll agree with HTH. If we're still a ways away, I'll be all over SRB.

Does eclipse still cover sailing and all that? If we're going to physically confront the Lintha, some knowledge of naval matters may help later on.
>>
>>32100155
I'm aware of that, but when people are forced between activating a dice-adder or activating JET, they'll almost always choose the dice adder. I, personally, have no problem with JET in theory. It's cool as hell, and probably useful.

My problem with it is in this quest format. We cannot, first of all, activate it in retrospect, so we'll need to activate it in advance of expecting someone to lie to us. This can be a huge fucking problem with how long of a period of time a single post can cover in the quest.

Second, people are barely willing to actually spend our essence as it is. They're paranoid about spending too much and flaring our anima, paranoid about having too little in case we're attacked, and all the usual nonsense.

So, my problem with JET isn't with JET. My problem is that I don't think people will be willing to use it often enough for it to be worth the 10 experience points we'll spend on it, compared to purchasing something else. Short of Permanent upgrades, I think our Social suite is basically complete.

We can't personally participate with the sailing unless we want the Storm Mothers to slap our shit. We're too superhumanly gorgeous. So, there's no reason to have that. Our sailors are delivering us like a weapon; we're not actually participating before then as anything other than a tactician and below-decks leader.

The only time people were afraid to spend essence was when we were literally in middle of our invasion of the Fae and at the time we were at 2 health and like 2 essence, we would never want to use in that scenarios anyway

I do agree we probably wouldn't activate them at the same time, but in social scene, where we literally spend most of our time, we're always walking around with a full tank of motes, I disagree in thinking people would be to scared to use it, the reason we almost never use charms is because we have nothing good to spend them on

>The only time people were afraid to spend essence was when we were literally in middle of our invasion of the Fae and at the time we were at 2 health and like 2 essence, we would never want to use in that scenarios anyway
That's... just plain not true. Ever since then, people have been unwilling to drop below 3 essence. It's seriously affected people's willingness to spend essence in general.

And aside from that, people don't want us to flare our anima or show our castemark in social settings. That means we would have to choose between JET or our dice adder. And people WILL choose the dice adder.

JET is cool - seriously, it's neat as hell. I just expect us to very nearly NEVER use it. And because of that, I really think it's a terrible idea to spend 10 of our experience points on it.

>>
>>32100406
You need a pretty damn good facility to build it, sanctify it, and keep it running, though.

"A royal warstrider is the smallest artifact capable of
housing a fully sentient little god, or as the Twilights referred
to it, an “animating intelligence.” While such an “AI” is not
nearly as potent as those summoned into existence to govern
manses or artifact vessels, an awakened royal warstrider can
give potent advantages depending on how powerful it is,
how much awareness it retains and, most importantly, how
amenable it is to serving a new master as loyally as it once
did the Exalted who helped birth it."

It can take up to a year to build one and is as much a complex religious ritual as it is a fabrication project.

That's really not feasible. They're fairly high-power, high-visibility gods whose portfolio (storms) is both an important natural function and a potent weapon, especially on their chosen battlefield (open ocean). Killing one would be very difficult at best, killing several at once almost certainly outside our means, and success means a big-ass power gap in the divine power structure. I think it depends on how militant the storm mothers are. If we risk getting zapped the moment Maka steps out on deck, then changing her gender might not be a bad idea. If we have a little more leeway with the storm mother's, however, then it might not be necessary.

You leave the tent the next morning, leaving poor Iscariah to sleep (at least she should be happy she doesn't have to be brought out in a stretcher).

Mikahil and Five Tails have been wandering around a bit asking assorted questions and visiting the village and then apparently left for other villages and other tribes. You don't worry too much about them: They clearly know what they're doing. Mikahil probably wants to see what the Three Rivers are capable of socially and economically, and Five Tails is both a good bodyguard and quite familiar with barbarian customs herself it seems.

Without worrying about them too much, you set out with Tia quite early, journeying across the thick forest and heading straight north. Thankfully, Tia calmed down, and along the way she shares stories and information about her tribe.

[Mental + Twilight = 7 8 5 2 = 2 successes]

Most of them don't really stand out or draw your attention in any way, although they're useful as they let you learn more things about how life is in the Three Rivers and in the Black Fangs. But a particular piece of information suddenly clicks with you: This tribe used to be much more nomadic, but partially settled down around when they took up metalsmithing, having found a place (here) where they can refine copper from the soil.
You suddenly remember various necklaces, rings and buttons and gadgets and accessories that you've seen in the village, including some worn by Iscariah, made from a bright metal.

"...That was copper? I thought it was gold." You reply.

"I thought it at first, too, but they call it copper, and I'm no expert but I can tell gold and that's more like copper than gold." She admits.

"Weird."

>>
>>32101374
We have more leeway. The Storm Mothers aren't omniscient, and a five minute battle doesn't run a meaningful risk of drawing their wrath. As long as we spend all of the rest of our time below decks, they shouldn't notice us.

The point is that we can't be an above-deck sailor/captain, that's all.

"Let's take some of it to Valeriana or Irene when we return to either Pearl or Tianna." You suggest.

"Alright." She points in a direction. "Anyway, we're almost at the demesne."

You follow her directions, and arrive about half a hour later to a sudden clearing in the forest. Even though it's late morning, the leaf canopy above it completely blocks direct sunlight, giving you a strange feeling, almost of a cool summer night. A breeze rustles the tall grass and the lower branches, radiating from the center of the small circular valley.

It's about thirty or so meters across, and looks like some kind of idyllic scenery put together for a theatrical show: colorful flowers, beautiful grass, and a small trickle of pure blue water gathering in a shallow pool and flowing around. Butterflies and small birds flutter and dance in the air. It's like a little microcosm.

The water doesn't even go anywhere, you notice: it just flows in a closed cycle.

Not too far from there, but outside of this demesne, in the forest, you see a large tent with all the markings of a shaman or sorceror's abode. Probably Zaan.

And, in the middle of the demesne, you see Talon, sitting cross-legged nxt to the pool of water, eyes closed, meditating. He's wearing just a simple white tunic, and a butterfly is resting on his right ear, lazily spreading its wings to the gentle breeze.

You sneak silently in the tent, finding Zaan intent to bashing some leaves in a mortar. he was probably thinking about something and doing so absent-mindedly, because your sudden appearance throws him out for a loop. "...bwuh? Maka?"

"Hope I'm not intruding." You smile, excusing yourself in. The tent is large, but has very little space inside, being completely packed with all sorts of bottles, vases, talismans, leaves left to dry, wooden boxes and assorted alchemical and sorcerous paraphernalia.

"Hi, Zaan." Tia follows.

"No, of course not. I just wasn't expecting you. Sorry for the mess."

"Don't worry." You glance outside. "How's Talon?"

"He's fine now, he managed to fight back the Fae's brainwashing and reject it entirely. It wasn't easy to rebuild his mind, but, fortunately, he's strong." He glances out as well. "I'd say he's recovered almost completely." Then, he frowns at you. "...Is there any trouble? Do you need him?"

"I just wanted to visit." You point out. "Keep you posted with the latest events. Maybe discuss them a bit."

You share with Zaan all the latest events.

"And so I also wanted to ask you, Zaan." At the end of your chat, you decide to clear some doubts. "Where do we go from now? With the tribes and everything, i mean. The situation is quickly getting complicated and I need to know what are the Three Rivers' plans in all this."

"I'd like to know that as well." Before he can respond, Talon appears on the tent's entrance, entering it with a great deal of care (unsurprising, consider how large he is).

"Nice to see you're alright." You bump fists with him, and he sits down next to you.

"Yeah, It's nice to be back. And leave all that behind." He takes a deep breath. "...But I think I'll have to abandon my Thousand Rivers Stream project."

"Why?" You ask him back, but you already know the answer.

"...Like you just said. Too much has happened, I can't track all the factors, I've been missing for two weeks, but, most importantly... Too much is about to happen. Especially the Abyssals."

You nod. "You think that their attack is not going to be focused only on Tianna."

"It will have a fallout in any case. Besides... there's two more factors. The first is that Thousand Streams Rivers are expected to take decades, centuries to build. In that perspective. I've barely started mine, and it was my first try anyway. I could have done a lot of things better. It was still a very valuable learning experience. And I expect to live a very long and productive life."

Despite the smug grin he puts up, he definitely feels sad and tired talking about this, but you're not sure you're supposed to cheer him up, or indeed say anything. You just let him speak. "...What about the second factor?" Is all you ask him, just to keep him going.

He makes himself more comfortable.

"...Speaking of which, why don't you tell me what you've been up to lately?"

You do so, with Tia's help.

"...So i was wondering if you, Zaan, would be alright with helping us with a temple to Luna."

He mumbles and mutters something under his breath. "...I'm not much of an architect. I can probably just give some ideas and guidelines. But without worshipers, a temple is meaningless, and Luna's not a goddess for city-folk right now."

"Speaking of Pearl, we wanted to bring this there to examine, but maybe you can tell us something too." Tia produces a necklace made from a thick chain of that unusually bright copper and presents it to Zaan. "My tribe makes this by smelting rocks and sands around the village. I thought it was just weird copper, but Maka thinks it's something else."

He takes it in hand. "Let me see. Mhh..."

"...I was thinking it might be Orichalcum, but maybe that's too good to be true."

"I'd be amazed if the Black Fangs could build a forge capable of smelting Orichalcum." He mumbles, weighting the chain in his hands. "...odd. Can I break this? Would anyone mind?"

You look at Tia, and she thinks about it for a second, then nods. Zaan breaks one of the metal links, uncorks a glass bottle full of a suspiciously red liquid, and drops half of a chain link in it. It begins to sizzle and melt, slowly, and the bottle fills quickly with a heavy, grey smoke, and Zaan reacts by immediately putting the cork back on.

Under your watchful eyes, he keeps examining the piece of metal until it has completely vanished, turning the liquid orange, with a deposit of grey sludge on the bottom.

Amata's secret is going to bite us in the ass, isn't it.

Lets talk with Talon, Mikhail and Nine Tails once we get them in one place about a new society one that has multiple checks and balances and is not solitary reliant upon just one or two things.

I am thinking the first Deliberate with Celestials and Terrestrials. Their fight fucked up mortals something fierce. I am certain that lots of mortals with some artifacts for their profession could compare cost effective to a Terrestrial.

And while the amount of Celestials on this island we can depend on the island is great the main growth potential in surviving Lintha retributions, Abyssal plots and Realm massive action is going to be mortals. Thus we kind of need a way to make mortals very relevant in both economy, politics and military. But for it to be competitive with exalted of any kind its going to be hyper meritocratic for the mortals, and they will tend to overspecialize, imho.

I dunno. Maka is not really all that big on bureaucracy, but she fucking well knows that growth as a polity is going to be in the mortals and we will have to rely on them. Thankfully we have TWTT, so we can make then stronger, tougher and more safe in their own mind.

Once we are done with all the immediate threats and plots we should have a large square in Pearl, something like the red square or grand central park, so that we can have a constant open TWTT session to all armed forces and later citizens of Pearl. Illegals or people on a Visa do not get access.

Well, here's my thing. I'm thinking we should have the ceiling of the main hall be a massive glass dome with clockwork that tracks the position of the sun and the moon relative to someone standing in the dead center. A massive calendar-device that tracks time, date, lunar month, eclipses, and so forth in order to perfectly time worship - and, for someone with the appropriate thaumaturgy, make astrological predictions.

And it would look badass as a motherfucker.

"Not Orichalcum." You guess.

"No. Not quite as useful maybe, but... interesting." He points the bottle in your direction, and you take it and give it a closer look.

"...This is tyrant-blood acid." You recognize the compound from some long-thought-forgotten lecture about alchemy you probably did as a kid. "It dissolves copper and iron."

"We call it Hating Water here in the West, but yes. It reacts to copper by becoming yellow, and to iron by becoming darker and producing toxic smoke." He explains.

"...And it has a deposit. It shouldn't have a deposit."

"It can. It doesn't melt lead nor zinc, after all." Zaan notes.

"I know, but this doesn't make any sense. An ore... of an alloy? Of four metals? It can't be natural."

"It isn't." He nods. "These metals, in specific proportions, mixed in an essence forge and treated with alchemical tinctures, produce Admiral's Gold."

"Never heard of it."

"I'm not surprised, since you're from Gem. Here, it's a bit more well-known. It's a particular type of brass, easy to work, resistant to corrosion, that can channel Essence quite easily in magitech, and used in first-age-tech military hardware. Like ships."

"...Why is it in the ground then?"

He shrugs. "Talon is right. Tianna is a very odd island."

"Might be connected to the cache of weapons Amata owns." Tia notes.

I am thinking something like the Haiga Sophia, but with a huge bunker complex inside, and the dome is actually a telescopic tower that can be raised to dominate the city and serve as a lighthouse from afar and project the light of the sun all over the island and act as a major lighthouse.

Its going to store Sunlight in the day and as the sun sets the telescopic tower raises up kind of like in Black&White and shines iluminating the island, functioning to keep dark powers at bay, functions as a a lighthouse for ships from all corners and provides street illumination all across the island via mirror systems.

And as the sun dawns it gets down again.

Its going to have a huge garden area Sun and moon marriage themed (focused on the sun of course, Luna orbiting at the rim everywhere) and a dais from where someone can teach TWTT or lead prayer and dance via lenses and mirrors and loud speakers so that all the garden that can hold up say around a million people.

The garden is going to feature fountains and ponds.

That is my current image of it.

>>
>>32102948

Lets combine these two.

This way in the morning and in the day one can get into the dome by simply walking inside the dome, and as the sun sets the Dome raises on the erector pillar tower thing in the bunker complex allowing maximum sunlight participation for maximum sunbathing and if it can shine and be a bit taller than the Volcano it can shine on the other side as well to function as a lighthouse.

And with the mirror street light idea and combined with the Dais in the dome not only could it be use for illumination but be used as a visual broadcast station. across the entire island.

I think we could make away with the errector / telescopic tower, but its a nice idea for more protection to the dome since it could be lowered and the armored and it makes us seem to strive for the First age while at the same time being able to still remain humble.

She picks it up from there. "What will happen to the Three Rivers now?" She asks.

Rather than an answer, she gets the other two Lunars' attention. They probably both guess what she's about to ask.

"...We should find a way to unify the island."

Talon nods. "An island is a geographical unit. It's only natural for it. But I certainly hope you don't just want to drag nomadic and barbarian tribes to live in Tianna, or to help you build Pearl."

"I'm not stupid." You reply with a smile. "And, to be honest, I don't have a project, or a very clear idea, on HOW to do it exactly."

"Best thing would probably to just let the bricks fall into place on their own." Talon nods. "Many of the tribes are already in the process of transforming from nomads to settlers. And now they have a lot more land. Fertile land. The incentive towards agriculture will be great, in any case. I don't expect there to be a lot of conflicts between southern folk and northern folk: the new lands mean a period of abundance for both, and the presence of external enemies will channel animosity away." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-tqYQTnUj4
>>
>>32103334
I'm personally against diluting our power to much. Don't get me wrong, Zaan would make a great regional governor, and if we can get him for the job that would be great. But if we're to unify Zaan is too independent to be left in charge. He'd be an outsider among the formal leaders (us, tia, Amata), and I don't want to keep adding kings/queens whenever its convenient.
>>
>>32103252
Tiny little federation. Every tribe has their chieftan who does chieftan stuff and then there's a regional governor to interface between the chieftan-mayors and Maka/Amata and top level federal leadership.
>>
Rolled 2

Tia would be the best for this. It gives the tribes the illusion of being controlled by their own, but we still ultimately have control.
Heh, the three powers on the island are all united by marriage in the one true threesome. Zaan doesn't really seem like the leader to me though. Biggest problem would be the lack of Tia Time. And that would be awful.

I think it has to be Tia oddly enough
Talon is going to want to leave and try his thousands stream elsewhere and Zaan I think isn't the right type for leadership
Tia on the other hand has already become chieftainess of her tribe if she becomes boss of all of Three Rivers we could unify the island throught the simple fact that she's married to the other two Queens of the island, Us and Amata through us

Because that's the kind of thing a shitty, egotistical solar would do.

The point of Talon's project isn't to amass wealth and power for himself, it's to create a strong, independent society capable of surviving WITHOUT exalted leadership, not because of it.

Yeah, I suppose that's one of the big questions. What does Talon want to do long-term? Readjust his plans and try for something else or start fresh somewhere new. Should probably ask him.
>>
>>32103458
Talon would be best trying the Thousand streams here with us. We can go council style and just add on other provinces lego style. This way Talon can still work on the Thousand Streams while we can be the public figure an magnetic presence that guides the people.

Talon and Mikhail are more social and architects and engineers, we are the pro user however.

I want to go council due to the ease of growth we can have with liberated and joined provinces or states. We are going to need a internal investment scheme that brings people up to standards in some ares like Law and Trade and such, and probably a unified judiciary and law enforcement, as well as only one military. The rest should be council stuff.

This way we can lego in state after state, either as protectorates or joined of their own political will, and at the same time present a new ideological shift towards other Tyrant based societies.

Considering the Tyrant scheme got our family killed we should not be really all that fond of it.
>>

See, this ISN'T POSSIBLE. How do you expect to build a society strong enough to fight off deathlords, fae and the Realm without exalted defenders? And since you need those defenders what sort of justification do you have for denying them power that reflects the work they've contributed to society.
>>
>>32103530
It'll need Exalts, because exalts are like guns. As soon as they're introduced to an area, the government and people need them if only to defend against outsiders and criminals who havethem. Butthat doesn't mean the Exalts get to run things.

I think a federation style government, with Exalts in place as 'Public Servants', instead of Leaders, is best. But it means Exalts putting aside their egos for the good of the people. Maka is great at that. Others? Will take some time, and a few 'heart to heart' talks with Maka.
>>
>>32103585
>>32103572
Not really, we would encourage others to be local leaders but we would take probably federation level function such as generals, Police Director/ minister, Supreme Judge of the Supreme Court, etc.

We can have a president or a Head Councilman and its not necessary for it to be a Exalted.

This way we present a better face to the world dominated by Immaculates, and show we do not want to repeat the first age.

And with awesome social fu we can have our cake and eat it too since we don't need the function right away due to the fact that we can start political campaigns or propose actions with massive support, or just run for head councilman as leader of Pearl if need be.

Not really, even the best of the best of the best mortals can have 6 dice. We'll have 10 by the time we could do that. Exalted aren't equal to mortals. Deal with it.
>>
>>32103744
Unless an exalt UMD's them outside of the room. Giving mortals a genuenly even playing field would either result in them getting crushed by the objectively superior exalts, or handicapping the exalts and treating them as potential criminals so blatantly as to cause massive resentment.

A meritocracy is a fair society. Exalted tend to have merit. A society where exalted rule due to merit is a fair society.

As long as there are no institutional barriers preventing mortals from rising in society like in the realm, then having an exalted ruled society is fine. In theory.

In practices, power corrupts. Therefore, while i voted for Queen opinion. I advocate a constitutional monarchy.

So I think or at least hope that us ruling is winning, but I want people to consider having Tia lead, like some people have mentioned in the end it leads to the same thing, us leading because were married to her, but I think it would make the process much smoother than just us butting in and saying were in charge, the barbarians barely know about us, this is the first time we've been to there home, but Tia as a leader would go over with them much better than us while still leaving us while still leaving us as Queen because of our marriage

Essence Gathering Temper, but that charm needs a few more levels in health to be useful. It recovers 0.5 points of essence per health lost on average.

Also, I pretty much disagree with your whole list because we do not need to upgrade our combat at the moment and we especially do not need walk on water charms. Neither do we need JET or Mental 3 or all that stuff.

We should seriously consider aiming for Social 5 because it increases our social damage by 25%, gives us 5 free background dots which are hugely valuable and unlocks our caps completely.

We should get HTH before the battle if we can, but otherwise we should bank experience for Social 5 -> HSDD -> Zenith 5 -> Essence Awakening charm.

That would make us a social monster and if we fuck up somewhere else, we could just cover it with our massive social skills.

TGP while good is not that high priority when we start throwing 10 dice default and 13 with our booster, we are basically never going to botch a roll.

And with Mikahil around Shinning Ruler Benevolence is not such a priority, so we can get it after we get the four things I've listed above.

>SRB is for keeping up with him instead of being fucking clueless, and for doing things when he's not around to hold our hand, which he won't always be.

Did you not get that? He can't babysit us with Eclipse stuff forever. Dealing with some of that stuff ourselves frees up some of his time for other projects, as well.

The point is keeping up with Mikahil, instead of just going, 'Uh, okay,' whenever he opens his mouth, and being able to have more than 4 dice whenever we have to administrate our church, our sailors, and our businesses. Because Mikahil will not be around all the time - he has irons in lots of fires, many of them far from here.

The point is not needing him to constantly hold our hands. We're not trying to be an expert, or be absolutely amazing, or make him no longer useful. We're trying to get some basic, simple competency - enough to keep up with Mikahil and survive without him - and then be done with Eclipse forever.

THAT is why it's a priority.
>>
>>32105510
SRB is super necessary in making sure Maka isn't just some figurehead with others doing the actual work, it's so she can be an actual Queen, with all that it entails
>>
>>32105493
It is not expensive at all based on value. 5 background dots that we could spend on 5-dot artifact or something else are easily worth more than a single charm. Not to mention it will increase our limits and dice and social damage.

Convince me that those things on the list are a better value than what we get from buying Social 5. I do not think you will be able to. Social is ridiculously overpowered at the moment.
>>
Rolled 8

>>32105493
Expensive but worth it. The free background dots mitigate the cost by a lot.

Circles can separate from each other for years and then come back together like nothing happened. What if he's not around and we need an immediate decision
>>
>>32105578
We're going into battle against the fucking Lintha. Do you realize how dangerous those guys are?

I agree with you that Social 5 is OP, but I get the feeling that diplomancing the Lintha won't work.
>>
>>32105587
>>32105558

Good points. That means we should get it after we separate and not at the moment.
>>
I think we should focus on upping our combat. A charm or two for combat to make sure we don't have to sit the final fight out again.
After that, get Social 5 because fucking background dots, dice, social damage and limits.
Then we get some Eclipse so we can run the city we just built.

Oh my gods.

Okay, one last time. Getting SRB is good because we want to be able to reduce some of Mikahil's workload. Time he spends running our city is time he isn't spending advancing his other projects.
>>
>>32105578
It's pretty expensive if we take into account the time it'll take to get there, at 6 XP assuming we get 3 XP a session, it'll take us five threads to be able to afford it and if we do get it it'll take us another 4 threads to buy HTH, which we want before we fight the lintha, We are totally fighting the lintha within nine threads, we can wait to buy Soc 5
>>
>>32105670
I support HTH and/or Lightning Speed to boost our combat capabilities.

I agree with getting Social 5. We'll have to be patient about it, though.

SRB gives us three extra dice for Eclipse, so I'd support that over Eclipse 3.
>>
I'm just wondering how EF is going to fit these new charms on our character sheet.
>>
>>32105670
I think we should get Zenith before social. It will unlock perfect defences, that endowment charm and other high level exalted abilites.
>>
>>32105785
EF said that there won't be any perfect defenses.
>>
>>32105785
I don't think there are perfect defenses in EF's system

Zenith is great, but the background dots make Social a more attractive option for me.
This is still a ton of EXP to grind before we get that though.
>>
>>32105794
>>32105798
He mentioned them super early, but I mean really early so he could have changed his mind since then
>>
>>32105799
I doubt we'll have time to grind that much EXP before the Lintha fight and still have enough left over for a combat charm.
>>
>>32105821
Which is why I suggested to get combat charms first, then save for Soc.
>>
>>32105838
Fair 'nough.

Depending on what goes down, we might have enough XP for a new charm next thread. We'll have definitely have enough within two.

So HTH or Lightning Speed?
>>
>>32105885
HTH is gonna be more useful in our fight with the lintha
>>
Rolled 5

>>32105885
HTH if we're close to the Lintha assault. It's just too damn good for punching people off of ships. SRB if we don't feel like the Lintha assault is on the horizon yet - after all, we still have, what, an entire in-game month before our troops are trained?
>>
>>32105761
I'm wondering that too.
Halfway thinking about a 2-page sheet.

>>32105798
There are, but keep in mind that it's using an Essence for deflecting only one attack.

They're meant to block completely absurd stuff like someone chucking a mountain at you, or at a city and you have to parry it, or blocking a Death Star Laser, or stuff like that. They're not really meant for normal combat, and more to negate large-scale attacks on a strategic scale.
>>
>>32105912
Just stretch the current sheet downwards or to the right.
>>
>>32105909
I doubt EF is going to let the buildup drag on for much longer. The Lintha might also mount a surprise attack.

Put it this, if we need SRB and don't have it, then it is a minor pain in the ass.

If we need HTH and don't have it, then we're over a barrel and not in a fun way.

HTH goes first.
>>

>If we need HTH and don't have it, then we're over a barrel and not in a fun way.
No, we're not. HTH is a minor bonus that makes punching people off the deck nice and fun. It's not some total game-changer that will ruin our ability to engage in combat without it.

SRB, on the other hand, is terribly useful. If the Lintha assault looks like it's still a ways out by the time we get our next charm, we should get SRB. On the other hand, if it looks like it's close, HTH should absolutely go first.

It's all about what look like we'll be using sooner.

You get bonus damage for slamming them into a solid object. Dropping a target with one hit or two instead of three or four hits makes a big difference when you have hundreds of targets.
>>
>>32106003
we've been training the men for a couple weeks now and it won't be much longer before they're fully trained and the ships engineered to mount essence cannons and better sails.

Unless we needlessly put it off we can reasonably expect to begin combat operations against the lintha in a few more weeks.

plus HTH might let us get away with smashing through the decks of ships, destroying the ship's mast in a single blow etc. It opens up a large amount of actions we could do on a ship

The real bonus is that we'll be one-shotting people by knocking them off the deck of their ship into the drink. Which is super fucking useful, don't get me wrong. But if the Lintha still seem a ways out by the time we get our next charm, there's no need to get it early.

>>32106095
More than an entire month, actually, according to the timeskip thread, especially with today's detours.

Right. I'm not saying we shouldn't take HTH. I'm saying, on the off-chance the Lintha look like they're still beyond the horizon, we take something else. But we'll probably be taking HTH.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear on that. I definitely want us to take HTH, and I'm expecting it to be the next purchase. I just want people prepared for the possibility that we should take a non-combat charm before it.

with two weeks of training under our belt, (assuming the two weeks tia hasn't seen us is two weeks where we've trained our crews every day for the four required hours) and assuming the pirates have 1 dot in dawn and 1 in physical base since they know how to fight but not with the discipline and skill of trained professionals, That leaves us where we can only raise their dawn and physical to 3 each, or 2 weeks counting the 2 we've already done.

We can spend more time raising their zenith I guess but that won't really help them with the battles against the lintha.

I might be totally wrong with my assumptions but if i'm right that gives us 2 weeks to raise them to the caps that we can currently get them to.

So less than a month.

>Can we fuck an Abyssal into redemption if we do it at high-noon on top of our manse?
No. Abyssal redemption is a barely-hypothetical prospect that's epic-even-for-exalts and is supposed to end in the Abyssals's totally selfless sacrifice to let their next bearer of their exaltation be redeemed. It's not something we can do for them, no matter how well we fuck.
>>
>>32106260
it doesn't have to end with their death
>>
>>32106260
Obviously we just need to fuck harder.
>>
>>32106243
Ah well with zenith factored in then yes, i'm wrong and it'll be more than a month. But probably only just over. Since mortal base with next to no experience is 1 we can assume the pirates have 1 in zenith already because they think they're hardass pirate motherfuckers who take what they want. That gives us another 3 weeks of zenith training if we want to bring them to the maximum cap we can bring mortals to. We'll have a navy with attitude.

Still though the timeskip is going to go pretty quick and unless EF throws a lot of hooks our way I don't imagine we're going to cram 6 threads in before training and equipping is complete and we begin attacking the lintha.

So we should be mindful of that and get HTH at our earliest convenience.

>it doesn't have to end with their death
It also doesn't have to actually be possible. It could be impossible to fix, and Abyssals are permanently tainted. It being possible and ending in their selfless self-sacrifice is just the suggested way of handling it in MoEP: Abyssals.
>>
>>32106304
Why would it be completely impossible?
We know that Exaltions can always be changed if you try hard enough
>>
>>32106304
We did ask the UCS a long time ago if it was possible.
>>
Rolled 3

>>32106326
>Why would it be completely impossible?
Because it's one of the presented options. Canonically, there's no 'yes' or 'no' on whether Redemption is possible. The damage done by the Neverborn - undead Primordials - might be permanent. Just because something can be changed, doesn't mean it can get turned back.

You can change charcoal into lots of things, for example, but you can't make it back into wood.

>>32106440
Alright, so we know EF's making redemption possible.

We don't know which of the other optional rules he's following, though. The default is that Redemption is literally a suicide mission - a selfless, beautiful one. There's a fuckton of other possibilities, of course, including it being something that an Abyssal can survive.
>>
>>32106515
If the answer was that it would kill them then that would be a remarkably disingenuous statement for the UCS to make.
