Luck is (++) this turn.

You are a parasite, and this is your host. You have decided that brute force infection will do nothing but get yourself killed. The fat and simple cells of the host are nothing compared to the trickster and wily nature of these flukes. You marshal your cells to convert enmass into fluke forms, producing them by the tens. After the first couple you realize you can make theses more efficiently, using a smaller group of 50k cells to grow into a full fluke, speeding production rapidly. With your new fluke nave you plunge into the circulatory system and run into your first group of fluke. They are quickly pierced and infested, becoming flukes of your own. The mass grows. This is good. The deep voice is pleased.

As you swim towards the lungs you feel a sudden rumble shudder through the host. The blood flow slows considerably and the nutrient slurry pumping through the nervous system and tissues slows. The blood becomes thick and discolored and the heart slows. It seems the fluke is trying to reduce the host’s O2 saturation. At least it tries too, you force the host’s nerves to dump Acetylcholine into every transmitter you can find. The host perks back up but you are unsure how long you can keep this up. You flukes surge towards the lungs and burst through the bronchial artery to find them absolutely infested with hundreds flukes on the surface. Small patches are grazed away, letting blood leak into the pleural space and is quickly drank up by the swarm.

You have committed to combat in the lungs. Your martial mass is the swarm of flukes and anything you can infect. Choose your course.

You can sense the consciousness of the host, somewhere on the periphery screaming in anger and pain at you.

"YOU'RE NOT VERY NICE. I HATE YOU!" It stamps.

You watch as some of the flukes on the surface of the lungs begin to excrete some paralyzing enzymes, causing the host's lungs to falter. This does not last long as your flukes swim in and pick off the helpless saboteurs. They never saw it coming.

This system doesn't make much sense to me.

As it is, combat will take too many updates just shuffling numbers. If the result's determined entirely on dicerolls (rather then in other games where battle plans and activated abilities influence it), why not go for the traditional set DC with 2 or so content posts describing the fight? In the end we'll still either succeed or fail but do so much quicker and with less confusion.

Also, if it's roll-under, 1 should be success and 20 failure.

You notice the fluke's scream disabled his own forces. It takes a moment to rally your forces back and charge in. At the last second the flukes connect back up and try to dodge out of the way. Its a massacre the majority of the flukes are rent asunder, tissue falling like soft snow. and quickly growing into fungal mass while the bodies. Your naval fleet surges and the Fluke's mind grows softer in volume though louder in spirit.

The battle is quickly over. The flukes are quickly routed and then decimated. You quickly set about consuming them and converting everything you can grab into mass and fluke. Suddenly you feel the fluke's mind attempt to flee the lungs to one of its strongholds, but is blocked at the artery you arrived in, you watch as the fluke retreats into the depths of the lung, crying in pure panic. You gather a mass and penetrate one of the deeper grazing wounds. You feel moisture, air, and coolness. A different cry from your previous territory. You also find eggs further up into the bronchial tubes from the aveoli. Lots and lots of eggs. The are fortunately immature and the fluke darts from egg to egg trying to will them to hatch. You make a point of consuming all eggs you find, even piercing one in front of the fluke. It tries to swim away after a moment of fear as you ensnare it.

You send your fluke navy into its strongholds, weakened and in disarray as the mind is caught in your web. They should not have a problem mopping things up. The fluke writhes and screams in fear as you hold it, its high pitched mental screams grating on your mycelium and you probe the entities mind. You can hear it now, mumbling something incoherent. You consider what to do with this things, though you'd rather be rid of it. Three simple options come to mind as you rest within the undulating lungs of the host, a veritable feast at your finger tips and an annoyance in your clutches.

You look down at the pathetic little worm, writing about in your clutches. You have had enough of its childish antics and will make an example of it. You rear up small and thin tendrils and menace the fluke, slowing drawing them closer. It freezes for a moment, silent in pure terror, but quickly returns to more panicked screaming. “Mommy! MOMMY! PLEASE HELP, NO!”, you can make out, but it doesn’t bother you. This is your host and this is the price for challenging your rule. Acting like an innocent child is just disgusting, but if it chooses that as its last words then so be it.

You delicately begin to dissect the worm, infiltrating the fluke’s simple neural net through the small openings, stimulating every panic protein and pain you can muster. It isn’t even making words anymore as you ginger rip and cut and stimulate. You pause only a moment to monitor your progress purging the remaining flukes and patching up the host. It is going well. The heart is almost cleared and your mass is penetrating the liver, in both areas leaving infectious mass and solidifying your control over the host.

The fluke begins dying, you prop up its system as best you can but it’s difficult as you exposed every digestive branch and are slowly digesting them. There are only so many tissues in a fluke you bemoan, but your time is at an end. Your mass seizes its brain, finally silencing that horrid blubbering. You can see its mind, ragged and fading and you reach out to take it. You take care this time, not simply grasping it but tapping into it slowly. You find your will reinforced, the mass less prone to panic and able to retain commands in your absence. You quickly reach out and direct your troops accordingly, increasing their infectious efficiency. The fluke’s mind dies and you feast on the fading scraps.

[Parasitic control reinforced]
[Nature : 1/100]

The world fades into blackness, the deep voice laughing, as if joyful in your triumph. The mass pulls away and you are drawn back to a familiar warm light. A memory, a young human’s one, recent, but not of the host. Who’s memory, you ponder, and how do you know this? You can almost touch it and drink it in. The mass should be fine for now but the deep voice quiets, nervous at the temptation before being dragged down by something unseen. Do you tap the memory ?

You decided to indulge the strange memory, against the wishes of…someone? The deep voice. Your mind, reaches out and taps the light, resulting a strong pulling sensation yanks you into a world of sensation, familiar to when you swapped with the host, but slightly different. You are shorter, physically weaker and are not in control. A memory, you are simply along for the ride. The human is sitting in a room, having just been woken from his desk. A place of learning, how strange these hosts are, each a single entity. The smooth white material hugs your form, the polished surface on the desk comes alive with a flurry of information, light an noise. Someone is calling your name. Steven. This creature is called Steven. Funny, you don’t have a name yourself, why would you ever have needed one?. You feel something push out from the creature’s lungs. What sound does it make.

“I was sleeping.” You groan out. The words eliciting a rising “oooooOOOOOH” from the other creatures in the room. They are other small children like yourself and a smirk from your teacher, a larger creature like your host but not the same. Female. She makes a soft clicking noise.

“That’s no way to speak to your teacher, young man. I would send you to the administrator but you are already summoned there. You must head there at once. Seems your father is here to pick you up early today.”

You pump your little fist, the emotion of joy flooding your mind. The creature gets up from the desk and runs up to the door, barely dodging the plastic as it slides out of the way. You head towards the administrators office, a scary place no child ever wants to end up in, but today it’s your ticket home early. You quickly burst through the door, not finding your father but two men, each wearing a lab coat like your father’s. You recognize one from a party your father had at home once.

You hear your father taking to the administrator through the shining thing on his desk, saying that you should be released into the custody of his co workers. He nods and waves them off. Yay! You’re going to go home. The one you recognize grabs your arm, a little too roughly but you don’t notice. They lead you into a car like your fathers and take off in to the air, the car making the low humming noise you love so much. You look out the window and see they are taking the wrong road. Your home is the other sky-lane from school. You have to tell them?

You were told about this. Stranger danger! You only kind of know these guys and they are taking you somewhere strange. You think for a moment, they seem calm, and so should you be. I mean, you did see your father, grey haired and grumpy speaking with the administrator, and you know the one man driving. You decide to calm down and ask about their direction. “Hey, this is the wrong way, my home is that way.”

The man gruffly nods and tousles your hair. “Yeah Steven. We’re going to your dad’s work. He sent us to pick you up. He wanted you to be there when he finished his project. Its super top secret, I don’t even know. So tell me when you find out okay?” He is met with a punch in the arm from the man in the back seat. “Don’t use the kid to get ahead you dolt.”

They both laugh and you relax. You are going to see your father at work and he’s going to show you really cool secrets too! Science secrets. You’ve been to your dad’s work once a year ago for the science fair. You make little bowls of goldfish float around on an antigravity shelf, seeing if they got confused when returned to normal gravity. You got 3rd place! How fun!

The car lands and you are brought into the facility, the scary security guard glares at you before waving you in. The polished metal walls are cold as you drag your greasy hand along it marveling as the surface burns away your handprints as fast as you can make them. After a while of being led deep into the facility. You get taken to your dad’s office and told to wait here and not touch any of the cool flashing screens and whirring gizmos before the men leave. Did you listen?

You decided to be a good son, and not even touch a single screen. You sit with your hands neatly folded as sit in your fathers office chair. You wait patiently as readouts feed and chime away, relaxing away. You barely notice the pinch in your neck, a mobile medbot filling your body with a sedative hypospray. The world begins to fade as the two men walk back in and pick up your slumping body.

“Sorry Steven, gotta make sure you don’t make a ruckus going in. You’ll see your dad soon kid, just relax and go to sleep.”

You fall asleep in a dreamless state. The world is a dark haze. You feel tugging and being lifted up. Some time passes. You begin to hear an argument. Angry voices kick back and forth. The parasite recognizes them. The old man who told you not to fail and the deep rumbling voice. You are still groggy, the sedative wearing off. You try to move but your body is strained. You listen.

“Goddammit you bastard, that is my son, and you already prepped him?! Do you know what son means, or are you too fucked to realize what you’re asking me to do?” A man, your father, is angry. Dad is here! You cheer mentally.

The deep voice rumbles. “The subject is perfect for the procedure. Genetic markers, Neural Patterns, even several makers you could not understand. Proceed with the process. I cannot tolerate delay. Your feelings are irrelevant.”

“Oh is that how it is? I saved your giant green ass, gave you this lab, promised you all the help you need, and for this? This is not what we agreed upon. No way you fucker.”

“If your son is strong he will survive. There, I have hidden which factor he will bond to. I understand human grief is unpleasant. I will even spare you the discomfort of starting the procedure.” The voice rumbles lower, “NOW….begin”

You hear your dad cough and sputter before retching onto the floor. You are no longer in your fathers office, but in a large chamber, eerily green and made from wet metal. It smells horrible. A quick glance down reveals you are strapped to a slab, positioned above a roiling vat of material. You also see that your chest is wide open and you can see your ribs. You don’t feel any pain but begin to panic, struggling at your restraints. Down below you you see many cables snaking from the chamber leading to control panels unlike anything you’ve seen in your 10 years of life. There is a smaller console near the vat where your father is hunched over and shaking, hands moving in quick jerks. The other cables lead back into a darkened alcove where something massive is moving about. You can hear a clicking and clacking noise with soft squelches every so often. A dim halo of yellow light cuts through the darkness of the cavern. Littered about are large metal plates with strange writing on them.

You hear your father choke as he tries to speak, thin rivulets of blood running down his cheeks as they leak from his eyes. “I’m sorry Steven, daddy loves you, don’t be sacred it won’t hurt, just don’t lose against the others okay?” You cry out for him as the clamps release and you are dumped into the vat. In the brief moments of consciousness left, Steven sees hundreds of snails stuck to the wall as well as his entire body disintegrates. It hurt a lot, you could tell from the screams. But you are not Steven right now. You are floating above the chamber. The yellow light drifts towards you, booming a low voice. “I see you have come here, little one. Successful in conquest and other things… You must find me. Time grows short and these humans have outgrown their usefulness. Not that it matters. Take your host and free me. As the human said, Do not Fail.” The world fades to black and you are recalled to the mass. Humans are such easy prey, you think.

-----Game Pause-----

And that's it for today folks.
As always thank you for playing.
I'm going to be up for a bit to answer questions.

Fucking hell.

G'night, Toxo. Thanks for running.
>>

Great thread Toxo, thanks for running.
>>
>>32111717
>>32111717
Is it not obvious? You have everything you need? What part confuses you?
>>
>>32111717
The parasites are people. There's some inhuman intelligence, probably either AI or alien, that needs these scientists to turn people into parasites. Only certain people can become the parasites because DNA or something. The parasites need to fight to the death in a battle royale in order to help the alien/AI thing somehow. There's a thing that we need to find at some point in all the parasite on parasite killathon.

Understand better?
>>
\>>32111830
Wow I'm so glad we tortured that poor kids soul before ripping him apart. Totally cool guys.
>>
>>32112179
yeah
we know
it was really cool
>>
>>32111830

Yeah, thanks.
>>
>>32112179
>>32112262
Fuck off, parasites know no mercy. We're going to take this body, kill and enslave all humans and devour that fucking alien.
>>
>>32112918
what?
>>
>>32112918
Devour our space dad?
>>
>>32112918
Either we follow the rules of nature or an abomination hero , lets see where the ride takes use
>>32111795
Also tox, will there be any virology?
>>
>>32112990
Maybe eating a giant mind-controlling alien isn't the best plan
>>
>>32113123
Depends on where you go from here, but I wanted to stick with parasites. You saw many things in the lab through Steven's eyes.
>>
>>32113155
Thanks man
>>
>>32111697
So our Nature stat went up right?
>>
>>32113273
Nope. Nature is planted at a big fat 1 still. The lowest. Baring some really moving events, its almost locked in now.
>>
>>32106982
Was it just me or did you not post a twitter update for this thread?
>>
>>32113290
What is the nature stat?
>>
>>32113434
Did just now, I had to run to the store. Sorry!

>>32113398
I supposed you can know now.
Parasite vs Human.
>>
>>32113434
Just got done reviewing the quest.

Pretty sure it went down the more we embraced The Goal, as it were.

Could be wrong. We're...a bit schizo of some sort I think. We surge and we purge and we tap and we eat. The usual fun problems of being a hive of fa/tg/uys.

Still, I think we're all anti-establishment enough to say OMNOMNOM on some creators.
>>
>>32113434
It is obviously a Human Nature stat. Look at when it decreased.
>>
So we're locked into the "eat our creators, then eat everything else" path? Works for me.
>>
>>32113506
Sorry Toxo, I love your writing, but this quest turned in a very uncomfortable direction for me, and if we're locked into this route I'mma have to pass. That being said, I'd love to see a quest in a similar vein... just, not, parasites fueled by the forsaken souls of kids. 2edgy4me
>>
>>32113807
Bye. Won't miss you.
>>
>>32113807
Don't worry, they're not ALL kids!
>>
>>32113903
The tastiest ones are, though.
>>
>>32113807
I know it took a darker turn, but the choices are made by the players.Similar information was presented before but was rejected for "reasons". I'll admit I did not enjoy writing up that memory fragment and if you all had voted for "question" maybe things would have been different, but I won't railroad you.

We are 100% not locked, just really low on the morality meter. Your nature colors your choices and how the parasite's will reacts to things, but there is always a +Humanity choice thrown in and very quickly you can shift it, if you can convince the fa/tg/uy mind.

>>32113936
>>32113903
>>32113885
Don't be rude to other players. Call me a shithead with fucking up the dice but there's no excuse to be hostile. Killing kids is rough but nothing kills my will to write these if people are going to be mean. Save it for the delicious hosts you will infect.
>>
>>32113903
Okay anon, I kek'd. Otherwise, have fun guys, don't mind me; ain't gonna chide nobody for enjoying the rest of the ride
>>
>>32113965
Thanks Toxo, you're a cool and reasonable dude.
>>
>>32113965
Yeah, you might want to recalibrate your mean meter. That was gentle ribbing at worst, by /tg/ standards.
>>
>>32114007
Just trying to tell a story. I have to sleep now.
Watch the twitter for then next session. I'm thinking Friday, but watch the twitter feed. I'll try to notify people in advance.

Thanks for playing!
