Honnoji Academy, the crushing jewel of Tokyo Bay and seat of Kiryuin Satsukis power. It is here that the human understanding of dictatorship and power are being pushed to the limit. Each day the hierarchy of Honnoji bears down upon the weak, grinding them to dust so that only the strong may rise to the heavens and shine as stars in the sky.

It is here, ironically, that our tale about you, Yuuto Courtmanche begins. You have been a cripple since birth, confined to a wheelchair, having the inability to even feel your legs let alone use them. To make matters worse you have a severe and strange form of anemia coupled with restless leg syndrome, an unfortunate naming coincidence to be sure. However, becoming even more vital than your wheelchair is a mysterious black and blue backpack- a final gift from your father before you lost contact with both him and the rest of your family. You've noticed that as long as you wear this backpack you feel more alive and are only SLIGHTLY weaker than a normal human. As the view of Honnoji Academy quakes into view, you realize this will be an uphill battle as literal as the spiral from the base to the peak of the mountain before you.

Community, strength, humanity, these are all things that you will have to come to terms with on your journey...

CRIPPLElaKILL EPISODE 1: AND THE WHEELCHAIR YOU RODE IN ON

Water slaps the hull of the small boat propelling you toward the fog covered island. You yawn again, this entire escapade has nearly brought you to your knees multiple times, or would've had you not been sitting. Resting on the boat ride up is pleasant enough, but your mind starts wandering back over the past week.

Do you:

[] Remember what set you on this journey?
[] Check over the few things you've brough with you?
[] Think about how you're going to deal with the coming days?

Your flight from your home was a helter-skelter of haste and terror. As such, you weren't able to bring a lot with you aside from what was on yourself, what was within reach of a wheelchair, and what your families loyal butler was able to provide for you before he disappeared in the ensuing chaos.

The items are as follows:
-Your black and grey wheelchair hand made by your father. It's lovingly designed from every aspect and looks sleeker and more dynamic than your average cripple mobile. Your father is not one to skip out on form over function, however, it's lovingly fitted to you with an ergonomic seat and cushions that are padded just right. It can move at a decent pace under its own power but in the past you've often used your own arms rather than be entirely helpless. It's designed so you can sit comfortably with your backpack on.
-A mysterious black case that was given to you by your butler just before the "accident". Stating that it's from your mother, he asked you to promise not to open it unless your life was genuinely in danger.

-Strange Black and Blue backpack: Made from cloth and other materials, in addition to holding about as much as a normal backpack, it has a hard covered section you haven't been able to open. Presumably that's where the life support system that helps with your anemia is. there's a patch on it that lines up with your shirt so it can connect with you. It was given to you by your butler, as a gift from your father.
-One normal knitting kit
-A now useless credit/debit card as your parents funds have been frozen. Thankfully you had use of it until recently. It's how you made it here.
-The clothes on your back
-Honnoji Transfer papers and ID
-Various small items that are normally found on a person

Times up! Writing. In addition I've realized I forgot to include some details already feel free to vote on these while I write and will include these in the next post:

Coinciding with your anemia you suffer some of the traits of restless leg syndrome causing you to feel the need to fidget and occasionally the need to even move limbs you don't even have! These movements can sometimes cause you to look awkward... But sometimes you strike an overpose.

As well, , you've missed an eye from birth. It's believed to be just another defect unrelated to your legs. So of course, in your inventory you have one eyepatch that's
[] It looks like a modern medical eyepatch
[] It looks like a more traditional eyepatch. Aargh me mateys!

You've had a decent life, all things considered. Perhaps that could be due to the fact of your families wealth? Your mother, the heiress of the Courtmanche line was also the head of Courtmanche Fashions and Design, a focused clothing empire that surpassed Guchi and other stores and lines like it. However, it's market share never quite rivaled and never even attempted to match REVOCs. You often heard your mother muttering about their "Mass produced garbage".
Other than her complaints about her rivals your mother was a kindhearted woman. It's just... You never really saw her. She was a huge philanthropist and was constantly trying to travel the world for charities, university speaking, and normal business meant she was never really at home much. She was focused on spreading concepts of "community" Often saying "we're all in this together, might as well act like it!" You noted she pretty much always stuck to her beliefs and her company never exported any work out to third world countries where workers were pretty much slaves.

You got a chance to know your father even less. Regardless, he always seemed to look at you with kind, albeit sad eyes. He felt very distant even when he was around. He promised he'd find away to better help you move about more. Rumor has it he was a lead developer in several projects meant to help the crippled and design new prosthesis. You feel like you gained your mechanical ability from him and you remember rolling around his workshop at home.

Your Butler: one Corbin Cumberbach, a man with a smile as wide as his list of skills. He and his staff were your family for the most part with how your parents were focused on their major projects. You'd always love it when he'd push you around the property and he'd tell you stories of his old adventures through places like the Savannah, old wars, and the like. He seemed very old... And very British. You never actually got an age out of him but he still had a youthful, dangerous glint in his eye when he told his tales.

These people, even with most of them being gone often, have influenced you in some way, which one made the biggest impact?

[] Mother, with her ideals of community, and her sense of style and clothing skills

I hadn't considered that. So for now, a better idea would be 10 minutes but possibly up till 20. Since it seems like we have two consistent posters so far things will level out more if we get more people.

As far as advertising, I wanted to avoid doing that, especially by jumping into someone else's quest, at least until I see people are satisfied with what's going on. I also think that it might be a little rude to piggyback on the other CYOA. If you guys like what you see then please say so on the general! I plan to post to there at the end of the day anyhoo.

You sigh. Cumberbach really was there for you, always. But now, it looks like that's over. You haven't really said much to anyone since you set out on your journey, aside from taxi drivers, plane ticket clerks, and the like. Your voice doesn't carry very far thanks to your anemia, but out of necessity you've learned to pick your words exactly like you mean. Picking up on the old codgers sense of humor and wit certainly helped. And from his stories, if you can learn to piss off an arab lord to your advantage, you can do it with nigh anyone!

It was only just a week ago... That early rainy morning your household received word that your Mother had died during an accident at the conference she had been attending. Finding this out you locked yourself up in your room to grieve. To make matters worse you hadn't heard from your father in more than a week and all attempts to contact him had failed. You had, and still do fear the worst.

Only "Uncle" Cumberbatch could get into your room without you demanding them leave. After finally calming you down a bit, he left you to recover from your sorrow in your own way. However, a short time later you began to hear yelling come from another room. It was Cumberbatch. H-He never raised his voice. Ever. You couldn't make out the details but you could tell he was on the phone with someone and as soon as he slammed the phone down, the doors to your room flew open.

"Quickly, Yuuto, there isn't much time."

Despite your objections, he quickly pushed you out of your room. Another thing bothered you, he always pushed your cart smoothly with an air of refinement. This was the first time he was ever rough, and he was almost panicked. Almost.

The following events were a blurr. He lead you down the elevator to a floor you didn't even know your house had... You ended up in a bizarre room that looked to be both a mechanics pit and a textile mill. It was there he presented you the backpack, the wheelchair, and the black case. 1/2

He explained quickly what the basic details your already know about the chair, the case, and the backpack. He solemnly asked that you would swear to never open the black case unless your life was in absolute danger and there was no way out.

He then pulled a lever.
"This appears to be the last task I can perform for you, young master. It pains me so, but I hope that until now my service has been dependable."

He regains his composure and calm air as he bows. You begin to slide backward and realize you're on a ramp and quickly begin to slide away.

"You have a hard road ahead of you, young master, don't forget to choose your way."

You yell out to object, but your voice is caught by an explosion that rocks your parents estate, and you loose sight of Cumberbatch amid darkness and dust.

It wasn't far long after that as you saw the announcements of REVOCs acquiring your Mothers business and estate through a "business deal". It went through... There was no one to object.

Except you.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lz-ZGAvGCyI

You quickly fled France, the place where REVOCs is the strongest. Now you're here in Japan where they seem to be bolstering. You decided on coming here because (Pick two):

You've always had an inquisitive mind, perhaps that's why you were so taken in by your Butlers stories? He always did love leaving you on a cliffhanger-

And you'll see this one through, just like all the others.

You're snapped out of your thoughts as the boat bumps the dock at the base of the school.

"All ashore who's going ashore!" The captain calls out. Rather redundant, being that you're the only passenger, the boat not much bigger then a rowboat. What can you say, you're down to only a couple hundred yen.

You thank the captain and roll yourself up the ramp he sets up for you. You make it halfway up the dock before you hear him call out.

"Be careful lad, I haven't been in waters these strange since I crossed the Nyx."

"Wait- What!?" You spin your wheelchair around to look for him, but his figure is already gone, obscured by the fog.

"Y-You too." You mutter, as you correct your path and head up the docks. Soon you find yourself in the slums. The day is already advancing into mid-morning and the fog is quickly dissipating.

I apologize for the slow, some housemate returned and needed to discuss with me.

You begin your trudge through the slums... Well, if you can trudge in a wheelchair It's exactly that, slummy and you think a little slimy too. You haven't been out in this kind of atmosphere very often, the most you've seen was at one of you mothers charity campaigns when you stood in front of a slum in Argentina with her to garner support. Far different then walking through one.

You notice you're getting a lot of looks. A cripple probably isn't too common here, let alone one with such a shiny wheelchair.

Not too long you smell some food and your stomach growls. It might be a little while till you reach the summit, so you ponder the thought of grabbing a bite to eat. If you can find something- well, palatable.

You also notice some shops with various tools. You think back to your Butlers stories and adventures. He'd always have a trusty tool.

Hammer
(And using your conversational skills you manage to finagle a crowbar in there too. Because one, I don't wanna do a tie-breaker, and two you manage to get some old ladies to his at the clerk when you accused him of price gouging. And he was, in a slum of all place. No wonder he doesn't look like he sells much.)

During your transactions you overhear some people discussing recent events.

"Hey, you hear about the newcomer that challenged Lady Satsuki?"
"Yeah! I hear she's been called out to fight someone today... Sounds pretty serious."
"It was about to go down, the kids already made their way there today, bless the little dearies, always so energetic to go see a deathmatch!"
"Yeah, I bet it's going to be way more interesting than when the Disciplinary Committee Chair leader tossed that one kid into the entryway and he got stuck there."
"He died, right?"
"That's what I hear."

YOUR FATE IS CHOSEN!

You quickly tie a knot around the crowbar in such a way that shouldn't come loose. After all, you begged Cumberbatch so many times to teach you some of his rock climbing knots after he told you of his trip to the Himalayas.

You begin swinging in an attempt to launch it. It soars through the air!.... Miss! Once more- Another miss! You grit your teeth, you can't do a lot, but you have to do at least this! On the third try you hear it clink as it snags. Immediately you're tugged along.

It's a long trip even with the mass transit pulling you along. As you climb higher and higher you see how every single level of the city is better and better with mansions populating the highest peaks next to the school in a literal pyramid of influence.

[] You think this is an accurate, if macabre, representation of the world you've seen so far. You're neutral to this display.
[] You're impressed... And somewhat jealous.
[] You think it's repulsive... To see this progression is soul crushing.

Your vision blurrs for a moment, you realize it really HAS been awhile since you've eaten and that doesn't help your anemia at all. You feel your grip begin to loosen on the rope and curse at what little endurance you have. If you weren't so rushed you might have been able to tie it to your chair. Your grip weakens again

[] You've never been strong or tough, so you've always had to plan ahead to get things done. This is a plan you came up with and you'll see it through. You realize that even if you fail YOU CAN ALWAYS COME UP WITH ANOTHER PLAN!
[] If you let go here it's a nearly sheer surface to the garbage and ocean bellow. You grit your teeth with the grim realization that if you die here you waste your efforts thus far and it will all go to waste.
[] If I die... I won't have the answers I desperately seek.

Any one of these choices reveal something about your character and could save you... But these kind of choices also come up in the long run and give you different options

It's not the buildings that get to you, but something deeper. Sure, this island has a structure and a form, and while you haven't seen most of the populace you can assume it's the same for them... Is this really a community?

You would ponder the greater meaning of this... But! You grit your teeth and grip down on the rope so hard that your already white knuckles turn even paler. It's already hard enough putting forth this effort... You refuse to waste the endeavor!

You hold on with all your puny might... And just when you're about to let go the tram way levels off at its stop. The entrance way of-

-HONOJI ACADEMY. At long last imposing three star shaped gateway is before you. Painfully you tare your hands away from the rope and gather it. Beyond you can hear the sound of battle, a loud "TEN! KEN FUN! SAI!" echoes out followed by the sound of an explosion... Or possibly cannon fire. Cheers and yelling urge you to move forward. Too tired to move on your own, you go back to relying on your wheelchairs on board motor.

As you pass the gates some dust falls to your side. Do you:

[] Look up to see why dust is falling?
[] Keep going to see the prize you've been waiting for?

Some more dust falls and you shield your eyes to block it. When you remove your hand you sit there in shock as you see a mangled body hanging limp there. Is this the kid the people down below were talking about? There's a crater around where he was thrown, into the SIDE of a building! How is his body still in one piece after that!?

You stand there for a moment and your eyes widen. The reasons there's dust is that he's still moving. He's still alive.

You can hear the fight going on even better from here and can look over to see a truly massive crowd looking upon a giant boxing ring. It's hard to tell what's going on... But the two combatants are moving so quickly it's hard to make out details. It's almost... Superhuman.

You are faced at a crossroads. You think you can help this person up there using your rope and tools. The strange multi-star shaped entry ways can be used as a pulley if you can throw it to the higher star. From there you can lower it and try to get a loop over his body to pull him down. You recall however, that this way supposedly an enemy of the school. It seems everyone is distracted with the "game" going on. You can ask yourself if this is the right thing to do, or if it could be advantageous for you to have an ally? Is it worth the risk?

Regardless of your reasons do you:

[] Continue to your original goal and see what the commotion is.
[] Do your best to save this poor soul.

Both are time sensitive.

We need friends. Getting this guy on-side will more than double our manpower.

Community and shit.

>>32115045
Side question: what is the quest-etiquette on voting multiple times?
>>
>>32115045
Both situations taken together imply that these spectacles are a regular occurrence, therefore we can reasonably put two and two together and come to the conclusion that there'll feasibly be more on later days.
>[X] Do your best to save this poor soul.
>>
>>32115123
I believe it's just your one vote, that's it. For my quest, if 20 minutes is reached and there aren't five saying one option or if a tiebreaker is needed go ahead and post but please mention you're doing it as a tie breaker.

Sound good to everyone?

You stop. No matter what the importance of the two people wailing on each other is, this person up here needs help.

After several attempts you manage to get the rope up in such a way that you can lower loop over one of his legs and then once that draws tight, lower him to the ground. Thankfully the weight of your equipment acts as your counterbalance making it so that you don't have to work that hard.

Your eyebrow raises once you get him to the ground. He's battered, bruised, and bloodied as expect but... He's naked and a bit on the pudgy side. How the hell did a kid like this survive an impact like that? Who knows how long he's been up there.

Whatever the case, he doesn't look like he's got much left in himself now. If you don't find care for him soon he's not going to make it. You remember seeing a doctors office back in the slum with a really gaudy sign. The schools nurse's office... if it has one is out of the question.

"!"

Your back suddenly stiffens.

You feel like you're being watched.

That's all for today folks!

Thanks for the thread OP, it was fun.

Anyone going to archive it, or should I?
>>
>>32115426
So! How did everyone feel the first thread went? I felt it got off slow... Mostly thanks to the info dump but there was a lot I needed to get out there and I don't think I could have effectively done it over a longer time and still have given the options that I did. Likewise, as I stated, since we've had so many Kill la Kill themed quests I wanted to set the framework so that the MC will be a bit different than Aneru or Fate. After the groundwork, it's all up to your guy's choices! Hope I've started to let you guys feel like you've had some impact. It'll open up more as we go.

I think it also might have been a wee slow simply because CRIPPLE! Don't worry, it'll make your eventually fleshing out all the sweeter.

I'm thinking next Friday will be my next post. By then I should have a Twitter and pastebin set up. If not, next Tuesday around the same time if what I'm aiming for. Expect at least an update thread or a comment in the General with the twitter information.

This is actually my first Quest I've tried running. I hope it goes well for everyone! I don't currently have a name to go with my trip- How I've always preferred to have nicknames is that the group of people you're with give you one based how they see you. If you guys eventually choose a nickname for me I'd be honored. P-please be gentle

>>32115463
Archive please! I've never actually done it and while I'm going to look it up I don't wanna mess up this first thread!

Cripple Guy Inc. CGI for short.

You'll inevitably end up being called Cripple Guy or CG. May as we'll make the acronym slightly cool.
