Previously: Since arriving upon an unknown chain of islands, a Young Rocket and her friend have become recognized by a village of natives as "Rangers."

Now, with the help of an adolescent taking his first strides into a similar profession of monster hunting, the rocket team seek to find their way back home.

After two islands, they now take a hunting ship to a city outside the dome.

A day out from port and the captain spots a quarry, landing the first blow! With their own skills, and an uneasy alliance they hunt a monster of the sea!

A Young Rocket and her friends engage a monster upon the deck of a ship. While everyone else scattered, she stood her ground to blind the monster, only to be swatted up by its tail as it lifted itself from the deck!

Nearly finding herself lost at sea, Cerulean blasts back onto the boat with a new technique as the veteran hunting party finishes off the beast.

Now the ship comes into port! What awaits them in the city?
Will she find her way home?
What enemies and allies will she make?
And how has a civilization of monsterous hominids flourished so without the Rocket's knowledge?

Stay tuned to find out!

In the interest of explaining the Plesioth fight in-depth, I did this:

Plesioth
>Charge forward, use laser. Laser's recoil will stop charge.

What happened:
>Frost Pulse disabled laser, but did not stagger.
>Plesioth has no means of stopping, and so brakes with a turn.
>Because it's moving forward while turning and it's fuckhuge, tail sweeps at us.
>Ceru is locked in move cooldown and cannot(absurdly high DC) dodge.

that's the weird part: Plesioth are TALL

At Ceru's height, a normal tail swipe would miss her entirely. The tail would have to go down first.

Aftermath:
>She was hit as the tail was coming up
That would mean that Ceru is around 60 degrees to the side. While Prof can retcon that that was the case, the power would be much weaker as it's coming up, which explains why Ceru wasn't injured at all.
OR
>Ceru is hit by diagonal-downward tail swipe
>Either Ceru is slammed into floorboards, or bounces off the floor and over the deck?
OR
>Ceru is hit by the fin
>horrid rake wounds and is flung sideways, may or may not topple over rail.

Also, well played Prof: A Plesioth fight and we're all raging at the hitboxes. It's honestly funny in retrospect.

I'm so sorry if this does more harm than good.

Every party needs a pooper.
>>
>>32147925
>>She was hit as the tail was coming up
That *is* actually what happened. When the thing went for aqua jet, it was effectively sliding on its stomach, wriggling back and forth.

She got popped up as it spun around and got up.
>>
>>32147971
interesting. So aqua jet has a different pose from aqua laser? Wriggling forward...what?
>>
>>32147928
You can put it in my pooper if you want
>>
>>32147925

Could you simply drop the issue? A shitty decision was made and we suffered for it. Let it go.
>>
>>32148040
yeah prof really fucked that up
>>
>>32148030
It spewed the water forth from the initial pose.

I said last thread that I had it do a different attack that could be telegraphed from the pose because the laser frozen or not would kill Ceru.

Just watch. We'll be eating at a restaurant and we'll suddenly get thrown across the room and slammed into a wall because the Plesioth we caught started flailing about in the ships cargo hold
>>
>>32148061
See, I don't know why you keep saying that. Why is it that you assume that we'd have continued freezing the water? The target was just the throat.
>>
>>32148061
>>32148092
Okay, fuck. Wish I was in the last thread to explain these kinds of things.

Prof, the reason why people chose to 'stand their ground' was so that they could hit with their attack earlier. So that they wouldn't come up late and have any kind of accident like the one you mentioned. Okay?

And god. It was so frustrating looking at that retarded argument about the definition of 'standing your ground'. God.
>>
>>32148061
To clarify, it went into Aqua jet first, and then it attempted using the laser after getting back up.

That was stopped by S.Red swinging his switch axe into its mouth and detonating his phial.

>>32148092
>The target was just the throat.
Amidst everything else I didn't see that, so I can't say that it was leading.
Standing there was still a bad idea anyway.
>>
>>32148092
throat wouldn't stop the laser, the gland is too deep. We froze the mouth shut, meaning that if he continued firing the laser, the laser would cut itself up.

>>32148061
so it charged forward using the laser, tail first?

fuckit, if I don't have it right this time, just drop it and continue writing
>>
Hookay. So lets just drop it. We got through the fight, and we know to try and dodge when possible now.
>>
Moral of the story is:

Don't put in a combat action that would result in the immediate death of the player. You will have to fudge it should the players somehow find themselves thinking it's a good idea.

Seriously, pitfall choices are really annoying, Ygg. Avoid using them, lest ye summon the sperg.
>>
>Aqua Jet still not in pastebin
>>
>>32148215
Pitfall choices, or any choices in general, are OK by me as long as it's something I can see the character we're playing as considering. Sometimes the MC thinks about fucking up, it's up to us to stop it from happening.
>>
>>32148215
The problem here is that Prof fell into the problem all comic book nerds fall into when discussing which character in their favorite comics would win in a fight. Fight choreography is malleable and everyone has their own image of how things play out.
>>
The salt of the sea melts against the wooden supports of the piers, decorated and embellished by a strange paint that seems to almost glow amidst the water. Noises fill your ears close and far of the hustle and bustle of the busy port. Docked ships, usher the sounds of preparation to set sail. The sounds of decks being scrubbed, the creak of wood and bones as the ships creak and bend in the water.

The sailors of your own ship seem to be about beaming as they come into port, making some snide comments about the worker of the bone pier as it hammers away at the shoddy planks.
The creature in question seems to have scales that shimmer upon its hands, the rest of its form hidden behind a robe, and its face behind a mask.

Marine stands by you, leaning over the railing, and looking at the city. Not quite large structures necessarily, but the place is definitely big and bearing a great deal of hustle and bustle.

You can see some sailor's dives along the port, and plenty of merchants examining specimens brought off ship by dock-workers. These merchants come in all sorts of flavors, ranging from what appear more to be butchers, craftsmen, and a few of the wealthier sort wearing all manner of colorful stones, trinkets and the like. Dockworkers haul out beasts, herbs, stones, and goods made from other islands for their examination.

Some head up onto the ship to check up on the “Plessie” that's been lying still for the past couple days with a tarp over it. The Smolodhan leave as soon as their ready, trumping off of the ship without a care.

“The hunt was just part of their passage fare.” Kurojo says to you, common tongue. You relay it to Marine, she frowns.

The workers check on the plessie, and begin to haul it off while Dovahki, the captain comes before the three of you, eying you keenly. “Aye, so we got sorry 'pprentices to Raguna City. If'n y' need another ride, I'll be sailing the morning of the third day in port.”

“Where to?” You ask.
>>
So how about that Plessie loot? Did we do a good enough job to get a scrap of the prize or something?
>>
>>32147743
We should Fight the Cat chick to prove our strength.

We resist Fire due to Water and Thick Fat. And we have Water type so we should have an even shot.
>>
“Wherever profit be had lil' lass.” Dovahki chuckles, her blue feathers catching the light of the sun in a glorious luster, her painted red tusks glimmer like rubies, and she sets one brilliant yellow eye on the three of you,”An' I'll be collect'n me fare one o' this days. Ah've got yer wave, ye best be gett'n it got, savvy?”

Something about her glare urges you to salute, surprising and confusing Marine,”Aye, Cap'n! Ah'll be gittin yer booty fer ye!”

Kurojo twitches at your speech, yet says nothing about it. What? You're good at this, right?

As the three of you disembark, Kurojo speaks in your tongue, “We shourd go to Ranger prace. Work and information there.”

Your eyes linger upon the bone dock, with the lone worker, and then chase after the trio of Smolodhans heading up into the city.

If the option of having some kind of duel/match comes up at some point, then sure. But there is no point in just randomly picking a fight when we don't need to, and when it's liable to get us killed (especially if they just forgo typing and pull out weapons).

>>32148648
yes, because people were starting to talk about it, and Prof is enough of a chucklehead he might do it just to screw with us.

You point at the bone dock, to the far off worker going about their business alone and without aid. “I haven't seen one of them at the other islands, who are they?”

Kurojo follows your point and you can feel him shudder with unease at seeing what you're referring to,”Ah. I do not know them except for shtories. Araraki from the Ararakian... Erm.. Dry, hot, sand.”

“Desert?”

He nods, “They are creepy peopre. They wear masks and show their faces to no one.”

“Why the bones?” Marine pipes in, pointing to the strange port. There isn't a bit of wood in use for the whole thing. It's a relief at least that they're all monster bones, you think...

“They do not bereive in kirring trees or prants. Araraki make everything from flesh and bone. Creepy peopre, we shourd not bother them.” Kurojo shudders and looks over to the Smolodhan as they deign to disappear into the city.

“We can forrow them to the hunter prace.” You starts walking off, dismissing your curiosity,”Come Sheru, Marine.”

>>
>>32149057
Maybe their culture developed avoiding harming plants and THEN they moved to the desert so they'd be certain that they wouldn't harm them.

They probably go and trade with other cultures for things they can't get in the desert.
>>
>>32149092
but now there's a surplus of alternative material to use while preserving the valuable plants.
>>
>>32149172

plants are still rare, there's just something else they can use so that they don't need to use plants.

“Alright, coming.” You follow after him, grabbing Marine's hand in passing, she kept staring at the bone dock.

She leans in beside you,”Hey, you don't think that they might be those things, do you?”

“What things? What are you-”

Marine gives you a worried look, an obvious tinge of fear pitter pattering in her heart.

“No, they're from a desert. Those things,” you remember the monsters of the ship. The brutes that smashed Mana's head like a watermelon, the Esper that was sorting through living and dead bodies, the cruel whisper from its mind. You shudder. You don't want to ever meet THEM again. “Those are from the sea, we're safe here.”

“Alright Ceru.” She smiles faintly, a little reassured. “Think we'll find a way home?”

“We can only hope so.”

The way through the city is met with many crowds. Workers, patrons, and merchants all going about their own business. Every now and then you see armed Kahkori, Smolodhan, and even Rynnians going about in tiny little coats of arms.

Kurojo points out the difference between the rangers that kill monsters, and their civic guard.
While the Rangers wear various monster's scale and hide, the civic guard typically wears leathers and metal with a fundamentally similar design. It's too bad that they can't just get uniforms from Silph... Heh. Silph. You kind of don't miss Silph, and Marine agrees with you.

You do see an Araraki now and then, getting a closer look at them, you can see their strange gait through their robes, tails hanging low and upon their faces various masks composed of bone painted in varying shades and colors of blood and pigmentation. You can smell the blood and fat composing their strange masks. Strangely enough though, they aren't all necessarily in the shapes of skulls. It's almost as though in some parts, the carvings have been done in segments, or it's not bone at all and instead there's a porous with bone merely glued to it.
>>
>>32149510
>porous with bone merely glued to it.
think they have those so that they don't smell rot 24/7?
>>
>>32149550
Treated bones don't smell like rot at all.
>>
>>32149550
And then I realize that they've got blood and fats on the bone, duh.

In any case, it's still baked in there via hot sun and shit.
>>
>>32149550
I thought they were just cubones
>>
>>32149638
that doesn't explain the non-bone porous material.
>>
>>32149638
Cubones don't grow the skull helmets out of their heads.

But yeah, these guys may be cubones. They could have scales, I guess.
>>
You catch a hint of one of their eyes, finding it absolutely lizard-like with a floral green within the iris.
Meeting your gaze, the Araraki tenses up, like a stantler caught in a flashlight. Its tail flicks and it shudders beneath its mask. There are few paints on this one you notice. The Araraki hisses briefly and darts past your curious stare, keeping its head low as it utters a string of... apologies?

Kurojo raises his crest in alarm as the lizard sweeps past him, going ahead of the three of you.

“What.. was that about?” Marine says as you stare on, bewildered at the strange person's departure.

Kurojo shrugs, “Do not know. I am not an expert on everything.”

“Why did it apologize?” You squint before looking at Kurojo with an innocent lean of your head, “They felt... embarrassed?”

Kurojo scratches around his tusk, cocking his head to you, “What did you do, anyway?”

“I just... well, I looked them in the eye.” This is all very confusing...

The rest of the trip tailing the Smolodhans is uneventful aside from everything going on that must be a typical city's day. With the exception of you and Marine of course. The two of you get a lot of looks between your straight horn, white fur, and shaggy red hair(still running crisp from the Qapecu's fire); and Marine with her shell armor, rather humanoid, yet shiny blue skin, and long fluffy red tail to match her head fins.

You can tell that you're not among races that frequent here. You might pass for a smolodhan, but Marine sticks out like a sore thumb. You hear mumbles from all around pertaining to you two.
>>
>>32149889
Man, the further we look, the less it seems like humans are anywhere.
>>
Your arrival at the guild hall leaves you more than a bit speechless as you look up at the building. At first, you figure that the hall must be of Ararakian construction as the whole of it is framed by a massive monster's ribcage, yet then you see wood boardsusing the bones as a frame and rounding out to the rest of the building as though it's an up-side down ship. The main entrance has yet another monster's skull hoisted up as an awning and doorway, large wicked teeth swallowing the three of you whole as you enter the building, hustling and bustling with busy ferrines, Kahkoris in Civic Guard coats of arms leaning on the inside, drinking from skin flasks, and many hunters on the inside and out talking to each other in their own little cliques, and bands.

From the looks of it, these people are much more free than the Rangers of Kanto. They're drinking something that smells strong, and even getting a bit rowdy now and then.

From the get-go, you can see that each hunting race tends to stay with their own kind. A distinct separation of Kahkori, Smolodhan and Araraki.

Kurojo freezes in place, breathing heavy and hard as you feel his embarrassment and anxiety radiate from him, the Araraki from earlier is here as well, looking equally nervous as they stand there, looking down at the ground.

You don't quite get their sudden freeze, “Kurojo? Uhh, Jojo? Who do we talk to?”

“I- I don't know.” He stutters, like an excited kid. It takes you a moment to realize- He's acting kind of like you were back when you were first recruited to the Rockets. It was so amazing that you didn't quite know how to behave.

You take him by the hand, and Marine in the other, “Let's go look, okay?”

He lets you lead him a little bit, “Okay.” He stifles a small nervous grin from his cheeks. It's actually kind of cute.

You pull ahead as Kurojo lets you drag him along and suddenly veer over to the Araraki with a mischievous smile. You feel him tug, but you tug harder, and even though the lizard draws back, you smile at them plainly, relinquishing your grip from Marine while holding onto Kurojo.

“Ahoy thar matey, I see'n you be look'n fer th' cap'n o' this here ship.” You say in your swarthy acquired dialect, and you feel as though the monster wants to laugh, but instead it draws away from you, not making eye contact.

“No trouble, p-please. We means no tr-trouble.” It whispers out with a serpentine voice, clearly feminine to your ears.

“Are y' a lass too? Aha! Tha's good, we're look'n fer th' head o' this ship. Ye want'n ta join our crew?”

Kurojo gives you a soft jab in the ribs, forcing an eep out of you as you relinquish him. He got you in a ticklish spot, you blush.
“Sheru,” he speaks in your tongue,”We do not need to herp them, we make no promises.”

The Araraki girl seems confused at the foreign dialogue, as you reply to Kurojo, “She looks lost, just like we do. I want to help her, is there a problem with that?”

“Yeah, you got a problem with her or something?” Marine jumps on his case too. The four of you get some stares from the less rowdy rangers in the place.

Kurojo shys away, “Eh, it's not customary to...” He begins to try to make an excuse, but quickly gives up, on that one, “We don't even...” He looks into your eyes as you stare his down, catching the unseen words.

“Uhm, We sorry. Mean no trouble. We leave now.” The Araraki turns to leave just as quickly from whence she came. You can feel her nervousness and embarrassment radiate off of her along with a certain amount of sadness that Kurojo seems wary to pick up on.

It was less of a question, more of a statement, but it was addressing the same thing.

You give Kurojo a quick huff and walk after the lizard, almost hopping on your heels as you try to keep pace with her. Kurojo clucks his tongue after you, making irritated Kahkori sounds.

“Oi, now hol' on there lass, there be no need ta be so lilly-livered 'round me. I jus' saw tha' y' be look'n round for the same person, I jus' wanted ta help.” You call after the lizard, trying to sound decisively less swarthy. At the very least, it gets her to stop and listen, allowing you to catch up. You begin to reach out for her leather robes, worn in effective tatters sewn together.

She turns around, suddenly, hissing lightly as she retracts from your touch, quickly muttering hasty apologies in yet another foreign language.
“We sorry. Very sorry. Much rude to, yes... Ah, please no touch.” She withdraws a little more. Bowing her head, and avoiding getting caught up in the effective sparkle of your eyes. “We... Ah. We look guild person.”

“Ye want'n to be a ranger?” You ask, with the word you've come to know it for.

She bows her head further somehow, still backing away a bit,”Yes. We not know help need. Should ask, yes? Sorry not ask.” She shudders beneath her leather robes.

“Oi, Oi. It be aright.” You begin to reach out for her again, yet retract your hand, thinking better on it. You instead fold your hand behind your back swinging your body back and forth as you rock on your feet. “Come on o'er, I be will'n ta help ya out!”

You turn around and beckon the Araraki after you. You don't commit to look, fearing that it'll drive her off, but she does follow a few paces after you, still avoiding eye contact.

When you're back before Marine and Kurojo, you find Marine's grabbed the bird by the tusks, “What Ceru says, goes. Why you gonna be all mean like that anyway? Huh Kurojo?”

The bird sweats bullets as he refuses retaliation, knowing that he's in the wrong in some way, especially when you look at him. The Araraki behind you turns to leave again and you call back to her,”Oi, It be fine. This dispute don't be yer fault lass. It be me crew's knucklehead.”

Kurojo averts his gaze, wresting his tusk free from marine's grip, to cross his arms and look away,”I know who we should talk to.” He speaks in common to spite Marine.

“And who would that be?”

Kurojo seems a bit nervous overall, suddenly swallowing a knot down, “One of the Guild leaders can recognize us as rangers.” His eyes shift towards one of the tables,”We know one already.” He's looking at the Red Smolodhan you met on the ship.
“I wondered why Smolodhan were allowed on the island... He had authority.”

Kurojo doesn't seem to be too happy, the memory of the dead tropius still in your mind, slayed by the bloodthirsty gunner in his troupe.

With a swallow the three... four of you, with the Araraki tailing a few paces behind, you approach the Red-armored Smolodhan, entering into the Smolodhan area, garnering looks from every single Ranger in their little quarter. Many of the looks to you and marine are curious and predatory, you can feel the hunger dripping off of the powerful, well-built felines.
It's actually hard to move forward at a point, especially with the Araraki at your rear. Kurojo is pushed forward by you, and bears the scrutiny of the brutish stares.

Chatter picks up about you lot and you hear cat calls from the older hunters,

“A Kahkori and a Smolodhan? Maybe she'll hit me up for a ride?”

“Nah, I bet she's got a thing fer feathers.”

“Why's her horn straight? A Mono-horned Smolder?”

“Hey look, they got one ah' them freaks following them!”

You begin to feel repressed by their insults, shaking slightly as you stride forward, the Araraki, gets closer to the three of you, fear dripping off of her as she strings together apology after apology in her tongue.

Marine's the lucky one. She doesn't understand all the Smolodhans asking what she is, calling her a freak, and whatever else have you that's lost in translation.

As you near the table of the Red one, the Yellow one gets up to start trouble, uncontested by Green, or the Red one himself as he effectively ignores everything else around him.

“Ah, the little white Smolder and her Kahkori #$&%#$ come to us Smolodhans?” Some of the other voices quiet down to watch the turnout now that they've seen your destination.
Some still utter calls however, egging on the situation

“Scrape their hides rookie!”

“Bake their bones, make that lizard bitch squeal!”

The Yellow Smolodhan rubs his leather gloves together, the red spots arcing electricity, “Sorry,” He sneers, “You just look a little lost. I'll show you the way out.” He snorts flame and the Araraki moves to bolt, only for Marine to grab her by the tail.

“Yer not leaving. Not backing out on us.” Marine talks, getting a quick translation from Kurojo as the Araraki digs her claws into the wooden floor, visibly shaking.
The words do a little to calm her, as Kurojo tacks on a few more.

Red drinks from a mug, ignoring absolutely everything as though it doesn't even matter.

Yellow smiles, clearly amused and drunk, “The lizard has the right idea.”

Kurojo stands steadfast with you and Marine at his side, yet no words are coming out... This may have been a bad idea.

With all of the Smolodhans bearing witness you turn your head from the Yellow Smolodhan to the Red one. You get a sudden surge of animosity from Yellow.

Your senses strain themselves to the limit as you move quickly to dodge the blow narrowly, feeling the electricity crackle onto your fur, making it rise at the built up static making its presence known.

He takes a step him to him his body into you, and you reply with an upward angled water gun, smashing his chin upward, and yielding an angry yowl as his head cocks back, forcing him away, as Kurojo suddenly positions himself between the two of you, eying the cat warily.

The Yellow-clad Smolodhan spits a napalm loogie at Kurojo's feet,” Your bitch. Take responsibility.”

There's chatter among the other Smolodhans,”Did you see that?” “Water? What did she kill for that?” “A hidden weapon?”

It seems you're drawing unwanted attention...

A group of larger Smolodhans in their own armors step up,”Where are the two of you from?” They snort at you and Marine.”

Green eyes the whole display, chuckling quietly at the whole turnout. Like Red, she seems to have a mighty passive disposition when not directly involved. In any case, the question's arrisen again.

“Where are you from?” They ask again, closing in on you, the bulk of their mighty bodies and burnished armor makes you quickly back down.

“The hell do I care where they're from?!” Yellow erupts, roaring at the others, and smashing one of the bigger ones in the face with his tazer gloves. “She's sullied my fur!” The shock sends the receiver reeling, the others back off, not out of fear, but respect.

“Your fight, rookie.”

You feel uneasily hot in this whole mess. You've drawn much more attention at this point.

The Araraki is still trying to get away... You could use her as a distraction to get out of here... But that would be mean.

Yellow spits again, a normal loogie this time,”Step up, the bitch or her bird!”

You pull Kurojo back, feeling angrier than you can honestly help as you spit water down at his smoldering loogie.

“Ah'll take ye on matey. Been look'n t' tan yer sorry hide since I met ye” You say with the straightest face possible and the Smolodhan part of the hall goes up in laughter again.

Yellow throws his head back to bellow out his amusement.

With your tenacity, you hold off the low-brow attack, balling your fists up before calmly relaxing your hands and taking the traditional stance of the Fuschia gym. Right foot pointed forward, left foot planted firm so that you can switch out of the way. Hands open and claws extended wrapped in their biting chill.

The other Smolodhans and Kurojo move out of the way, shoving tables to give the two of you an arena. Marine follows after them, with the fearful lizard finally getting tired of her futile struggle from Marine's iron-like grip.

Red watches from the side, standing now, and still sipping at his frothy mug, bearing witness to the combat. For the first time, you hear him raise his voice, ushering silence from the entere Smolodhon side of the room, “Bear witness, the young Juraik will fight the outsider. Loser leaves the hall.” He slams his mug down. “In ashes, shreds, or limp.” He says with an almost growl into a sadistic, throaty purr.

He reminds you of Boss.
>>
Green hoists up her large blade and lets the pommel drop into the floor, shaking the hall. “Vi-Smokhan Akabaron has spoken. The slaughter continues until one does not move!”

Have... Have you just entered into a death match? There's really no need to kill, right? But they just said that you can... That's not...

Juraik lowers himself into that Smolodhan stance of “Three feet, one claw.” He stares at you for a good moment, fire puffing out of his nostrils.

Marine didn't understand the Smolodhan's words. Kurojo, deigns not to interfere since you've made your choice, yet you can feel his desire, his intent to move.

You're a big girl though, you can do this.

The Smolodhan eye your stance, some commenting on the similarity to Kahkori forms. They joke about how you're going to have difficulty if that's what you're using. It makes you wonder just what they mean by that.

Green's blade is lifted a second time, and she roars,” BEGIN!”

Question, Prof. What's he wearing on his feet? Is he barefoot? Is Aqua Jet strong enough to propel us into the air?

We're not going to kill the guy.

I don't mind KOing him. And they're tough, they can take some punishment.

From what we've seen, his equipment lets him electrocute through physical contact.

How about his hands? Is he wearing a pair of electric gloves or are only his leather arm-guards electrified?

Throw in detect, sure. We'll want to use it for the initial exchange of blows anyway.

>>32153590
I was just asking if his hands were covered with armor.

Since if the water starts dripping down onto the floor, it'd be good to start coming up with countermeasures against him attempting to electrify the floor. He's barefoot, so he can't just electrify it while standing on the ground, but if he does a handstand, well, that would be if his palms were protected from getting electrified.
>>
>>32153572
I still want to ice the floor to give us more of an advantage. And see him fall on his ass.

I'm hoping he has about the same cold weather experience as the Nargacuga, aka none.
>>

>>32153590
I'm gonna have to contest that as being bullshit Prof. It muddies the idea of grafts in the first place if you just had to make a suit of armor to get the same effect. Like where the fuck is he getting the power if the Pikachu skin is dead?

And don't you fucking dare say Pokescience.

Water Gun is impact damage. So we can knock him silly until he's too battered and collapses. Like in boxing.
>>
>>32153656
I, uh, I don't think we have enough water to do that with our current water gun ability.
>>
>>32153638
My idea is that we keep using water gun, to both piss him off and get the floor wet. then we use Icy Wind to freeze it, making it harder for him to move. Then, if he is have a considerably hard time moving, Lock-on his head. then use a Vacuum wave.

Grafts improve physical performance. The electricity runs out, which means that it has to be recharged.

I thought that was the point of the move costing 20 stam. If it does the cooldown thing, say so in the pastebin. If it doesn't, then say that too because people will think of the videogames and will need written proof of wrongness to dissuade them from voting as if it has a cooldown. Add it whenever you get around to adding Aqua Jet.

Ok so your adding the chance on any one of those d20s rolling a 1 together?

No, it's 1/20, 1/20, 1/20, 1/20, 1/20.

Each 1/20 is a 5% chance to roll a 1.

So 5 * 5% would be quite a ways higher than 5%.

He rushes you, and you slide yourself out of the way of his charge, a quick shift of his low stance, and he bucks you with a hip check that wracks your body as you r thrown back, digging your own foot claws down into the boards and dropping your center of gravity down.

You stop yourself at least, from being thrown out of this ring and into the bloodthirsty crowd.

Yellow turns his head to you, opening his maws as you raise your gun on point. Simoultaneous fire, partially cuts the smog he had aimed to blind you with, sending water down his maw and causing him to roar with fury.

The smoke billows around you, distorting as he charges to you again, giving you a small window of oppurtunity to slide around the blow, your body seizes up at the last moment, getting caught by another clipping blow, courtesy of a backfist that sizzles your fur as it glances off of your fur.

There's no doubt that it'd have cut and burnt skin.

Forcing yourself back to generate some distance to open fire, you're well aware that touching him is a bad idea, that'd play you find that he's not giving up so easily.

No we really shouldnt have. We arent a wet tissue bag like say Goldie would be. We can take at least one blow without imploding.
>>
>>32154256
Then Prof really shouldn't say "Best of 3"

Also this leaves a fuck ton to chance.

Why not use d10s instead of d20s?

Would just lessen the amount of a role that chance has and increase reliance on modifiers.
>>
>>32154273
Correct.
>>
I don't know why people thought we're too good for detect here, we're below him in stats, winning the first exchange was just good luck.
>>
>>32154286
I'd rather d100s personally but that's just me
>>
>>32154263
This system leaves a ton to the dice.

I suggest using smaller dice like d10s or even d6s.

Makes the fights more realistic where we cannot challenge really good opponents through luck alone. And we would be consistent against poorer opponents.
>>
>>32154297
Because we don't want to waste it. God. What's wrong with you. It's called a measured risk. This was something we were fine with taking if we got hit.
>>
>>32154297
We've been consistently below everything we've been put up against this entire quest. SO its not like that matters now anyway.
>>
>>32154299
Then the combat is terrible in that the MC cannot be consistent at all.

You get SQ combat with the MC being terribly inconsistent.
>>
You keep yourself at a distance and fire powerful jets from your palms, slamming into the cat, and sending steam rising up from his fur as his electrical accompaniment sizzles and cracks, arcing into his wet fur.

Your thoughts darken, and you target his open nostrils and even his eyes, half-blinding him, and forcing him to snort up a furious yet pitiful flare to clean the blockage out into a steam.

In his rage, he surges forward through your trigger happy onslaught, suffering bruising blows even as you try to evade him. Your seizes up temporarily again, your inner organs spasming from the previous electrical surge, giving him ample time to smash into your supple form, sending a wave of force through your body as he lifts you up into the air effortlessly on a shoulder only to smash you down.

In the middle of the air being forced out of your lungs, you realize that the electricity didn't surge through you that time. This, is in the same moment that you looms over you, taking you into a full mount as his claws begin to heat up, crackling as water pops and hisses off of them like steam on hot iron.

With a sudden pissed smile, he swings his head to the side, and presses his elbow into your cheek to force your head away, delivering a sharp, painful jolt that sends your head swimming.

You start to bring up your arms to shoot him again, this time at point-blank, yet they won't move as he forces your head away from his body, locks down one of your arms with his upper body, and forces your other arm down with his legs, the weight of his body upon you as he delivers the lingering voltage of a kneepad right into your gut, just about making you pee yourself.

Delirious, and tied up be a technique you've never learned, you slip into a state of emptiness...
>>
>>32154310
Waste what? It's something we can use at full effectiveness every other round, VS only using it once when he telegraphs a... what do you expect him to pull out, exactly? Or do you mean the stamina? We can fight at almost 0 stamina cost with watergun, detect gives us 3-4 free rounds of free attacks, if it even gets past round 5 at all, and I'd rather rest to recover stamina than have to heal wounds.
>>32154320
Yeah, but usually we get multiple rolls to their one, so we actually have a statistical advantage, here we are going against him roll to roll, but with lower modifiers.
>>
>>32154426
Man, so losing one round means we die?

You feel him slip an arm under the one that's pinned by his upper-body as he begins to force it to bend the wrong way, his feet locked around the other, the one with the Nar-Kage armguard.

I have been in Prof's quests long enough to know when he wants to railroad us and make it look like we did the stupid thing
And we apparently walked right into this one gladly
>>
>>32154865
You chose the "ceru wants to option", you pants on head retard.

You've effectively fucked the quest.

fair enough.
>>
>>32154906
Nah. I'll probably just drop it and be sad that murderhobos have taken over, and then my lack of votes will let them take over more.

CERULEAN/YUMA/AEON DID NOTHING WRONG

Quests are getting really edgy as of late
>>
>>32154915
>voting multiple times on the same decision until the QM's preferred outcome happens

Maybe if you stopped being a quarrelsome winner, you'd realize these things.

>>32154916
see prof's post, where he plainly said that was not the case.
>>
>>32154915
Thats just the way these quest threads are set up. Whenever there is a close vote the losing side is ALWAYS mad. It never changes.

Just sit back and enjoy the show.
>>
>>32154915
Probably because it's easy enough to samefag numbered votes. I'm telling you, anon, if the vote was redone again, we wouldn't get the same number of votes.
>>
>>32154889
No, he did the wrong thing, because people thought they could have their cake and eat it to by voting to kill Yellow but have Cerulean somehow be less responsible because instincts and training.

And they also thought it was kill or die, even though that was clearly not the case.

Also, Prof was just going to right the next action anyway, and didn't even call for a vote until someone got upset with him for thinking that he WOULD auto-kill, which Prof somehow interpretative as asking whether or not we would like to kill him.

It's shitty and retarded.
>>
>>32154915
Because people are invested. At the end of the day, it probably says good things about the quest, even if the bitterness it spawns is annoying as all fuck.
>>
>>32154823
I demand more revotes.

We already did one, let's do another.
>>
>>32154920
I figured someone was gonna mention that. At least here, I've got no hard feelings.
>>
>>32154920
But anon, everyone agrees that Yuma did nothing wrong.
>>
>>32154834
I really shouldn't be replying to this because I know this ends up at a dead end from the get-go.

I made the vote a thing because someone was concerned about being forced to kill him.

Seeing that as a legitimate concern, I gave you guys the option of whether to spare him, or to end his life.

A revote was done to ensure to the best of my knowledge, an accurate vote.

Killing him won with a difference of two. It too one person to vote for kill to absolve that from a tie.

It was that close, and it's won out. Fair's fair.

My preferred outcome was sparing him, because I had in mind for him to be a possible party member. Embittered rival becomes friend is actually one of my more favored cliches.

Time to write, I'll at least make his death good.
>>
>>32154914
By that logic, every time a vote happens half the playerbase will quite because "MUH DIPLOMANCY" or "MUH MURDERBONER"

Stop being melodramatic you giant faggot
>>
>>32154938
Prof is basically admitting to railroading us into murderhoboism here.
>>
>>32154944
Fuck it, let's do a strawpoll.

Or just cancel the vote because this whole thing is a combination of bad reading and wanting to be edgy.
>>
>>32154915
Eh. I think it's more because the majority voted not to kill at the start. Then people got confused and thought this was a do-or-die situation.

Also
>>32154934
What he said. It's easy to samefag these numbered votes.
>>
>>32154954
False
>>
>>32154949
Fuck that.
We voted not to kill him.
Then we were outraged that you might have us kill him anyway.

THEN YOU PULL ANOTHER VOTE TO MAKE US KILL HIM USING SKEWED LANGUAGE.

I AM FUCKING ANGRY AT YOU AND YOUR QUEST. NOT AT YELLOW. I USUALLY CAN CONTAIN THE ANGER TO FOLKS IN CHARACTER, BUT THIS SHIT IS PLAIN META-FUCKERY.
>>
>>32154949
Do the revote again, then, since APPARENTLY people thought we were going to die if we didn't kill him.

The accusations of "railroading" are derived from the thought that you forced a misunderstanding.
>>
>>32154949
Good
>>
>>32154949
Stop it with the forced misunderstandings. You know very well people were voting because they thought it was kill or be killed, and they stated so plainly.
>>
>>32154949
You asshole, that's not what people heard at all.

And how the fuck does

>I made the vote a thing because someone was concerned about being forced to kill him.

That mean you should put death on the table? When that was explicetly what they DIDN'T want.

MAYBE if you had a lot of people being mad they thought you were railroading us into sparing Yellow, a vote would be necessary, but in this case, it fucking wasn't, because people can't fucking read.

You fucker, you've let them ruin the quest.
>>
>>32154949
just pick something and write.
>>
>>32154949
ah well.

carry on, before the thread 404's
>>
>>32154823
>Well. That surprised me.
>
>Cerulean, of Monterra, your rage is great.
>You belong to the Smoldering Corps.
Also going to point here. This doesn't necessarily mean a damn thing for what's going on in the post. Think of it as an author's extraneous comments.
I might try to be more like a mangaka and talk about things I'd like to eat.
Like sphagetti slathered in steaming hot four cheese pasta sauce and topped with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
>>
>>32154949
Oi mate, stop explaining yourself and get to writing, everyone is going to piss themselves anyway. I'd rather have spared him but I'm fine with the outcome as well. Fuck that party member shit though, nigga did nothing but talk shit and try killing us twice.
>>
>>32154949
People were confused? Since we're probably close to ending now, another re-vote wouldn't hurt.
>>
>>32154949
Why did you let the edge trolls ruin everything?

I don't care about his death being good. He is a worthless throwaway character right now. He isn't narratively important enough to force a kill like this, and simultaneously isn't strong enough.
>>
>>32154949
We already fucking voted to spare him you misleading motherfucker.

But then you gave them an excuse to think killing was necessary with your stupid vague language.
>>

>>32154955
>>32154957
>>32154975

>>32154983
Strawpoll is easier to samefag than numbered votes.

And have you guys ever considered that people may be here that weren't before? Or they missed the vote earlier? Or the earlier vote was samefagged because it wasn't numbered?

I got here mid fight.

Calm the fuck down you sore losers
>>
>>32154993
>parmesan cheese.
Shit taste
>>
>>32154949
Prof, most people voted not to kill him early on.

What do you think CAUSED people to vote to kill him now? It's because they thought we'd die if we didn't.
>>
>>32154993
We already voted to spare him, bro.

I'm going to be asking for revotes from now on for every decision as soon as any variable changes.
>>
We could probably run most of the east coast from the assmad in this thread

Cool your fucking jets, guys, it's just a story. You wouldn't get this mad if a book took a turn towards something you didn't like.
>>
>>32155011
No. This is a big fucking deal for Ceru's character and it happened in such a stupid and shitty way.
>>
>>32155019
because books don't purposefully mislead and lie to you to force the bad end, and then claim it was your fault.
>>
>>32154949
Another re-vote wouldn't hurt. Just clarify the situation.
>>
>>32154993
needs more cheese
>>
>>32155019
ON THE CONTRARY, I GET VERY ANGRY AT LITERATURE.
>>
>>32154955
I would agree with strawpoll
>>
>>32154996
It wasn't another revote.

Votes really do not matter unless they are numbered. Simply due to samefagging.

Only numbered votes and votes where there's almost 100% agreement really matter.
>>
>>32154949
A revote would be good here to ease up on the anger, Prof. It wouldn't hurt.
>>
>>32154949
Revote round two you jackass.

The first revote was completely fucking inappropriate.

Like someone said "I hope you don't make us kill him, because we voted not to" but you somehow heard "You wanna kill him? Alright."
>>
>>32154955
>strawpoll
>meaning shit
>>
>>32154949
Kill this off too and let us have more ninja.
>>
>All this rage and shitposting everywhere.
I...I need more popcorn. This is too good. Too stronk.
>>
>>32155017
You man a few anons samefagged it because it wasn't a numbered vote?

>>32155031
false
>>
We are completely surrounded by a race of people we can't show weakness around.

Our mother told us not to disturb those who want to live in peace, but then here comes the Smolder train, being giant dicks to everybody they meet.

Are they really monsters or people?

If they wish for bloodshed, then do we really need to show restraint around them? It's what they want. They don't want peace.

These are questions Ceru needs to answer.
>>
>>32155031
>>32155061
There's no reason not to re-vote unless you are afraid you will lose, as we already did one re-vote for your benefit.
>>
>>32155039
Sure. Then, assuming both sides keep samefagging, the fact that there's a greater number of votes now than at any other point in the quest is telling of how easy it is to samefag a numbered vote.
>>
>>32155023
It's perfectly reasonable in character
>>
>>32155031
I agree. Then we can have another revote because you can never have enough.
>>
>>32155061
Shut up you edgy shithead.

You lost the first vote, and only won the second through willful ignorance.

And you can have a takeback whenever you want, then so should we.
>>
I shoulda samefagged, I guess.

My fault for not doing what the other guys were.
>>
>>32155073
Time

>>32155074
You obviously weren;t here for the crytten war
>>
>>32155061
You know that there was also a misunderstanding going on, right?
>>
>>32155011
Actually it is far easier to samefag the number votes
People don't like to admit it but all it takes is putting a space after the number to allow you to cheat the system
>>
>>32155077
We shouldn't have had another revote in the first fucking place, since we already voted once. But if we can have a revote after circumstances seemed to change, then I would say the new information merits yet another revote.

>>32155076
How the fuck is following the traditions of a culture of klingon cats make sense for Cerulean's character you bloodthirsty edgelord.
>>
>>32155093
>Time
This is probably going to be the last update. So. 5 minutes.
>>
>>32155082
The first one did not matter because it was close an not numbered.

That is standard practice for a close vote for it to go to numbered, especially in this quest with samefagging rampancy.

Yes, YES

SHITSTORM HARDER

THE ANGER SUSTAINS ME

No but seriously, just step away from the computer for a sec. Stroke a household pet, make some coffee, go out for a smoke. Realise that you are getting really mad at a silly little game on an anonymous imageboard, and consider that maybe if you aren't enjoying yourself, you're wasting your time? Unless you find anger fun, which is cool too I guess. I know I certainly do.
>>
>>32155109
Except the reason people voted 2 was because they thought Prof would kill them if they didn't.

Because Prof was trying to be vague and mysterious for some reason.
>>
