You find yourself kneeling on the floor of an ancient stone pyramid. The room is dark, but dimly lit by a series of torches in each corner of the room. There is a pain in the side of your neck so drastic that you can only cry out in protest as blood is drained from you. Two slim arms are wrapped around you, squeezing impossible tight as their owner drinks greedily from your life force. You raise your arms up to wrest him away, but you are already growing weak from his attack.

Looking around, Kor is also in the room, wrestling with an invisible body, but one she seems completely able to handle despite its advantage. A little further away, your pauldron is discarded, likely taken from you whilst you were briefly under Boiz' illusion. In this moment, time seems to slow as you think of a plan.

You release your hands from his arms and begin desperately searching him for pressure points. It isn't for another few seconds that you realize you are not an acupressurist, nor have you any training in medicine beyond first aid, and therefore you are totally unable to even recall why you know what a pressure point is.

Boiz finally releases you, bringing his feet up and beneath you back then kicking you up and away. You fly like a sac into the stone wall and collapse to the floor, unable to move beyond errant twitches. Boiz kicks up to his feet and wipes your red blood from his lips, grinning.

"Back to full strength. Thank you for the meal, human. My brothers misinformed me: holy blood tastes no different than the blood of normal humans. If you'll excuse me, I must also dispose of your female before Sairus finishes your other companions." Boiz begins approaching Kor, who has managed to pin the invisible enemy, but doesn't seem up to the task of fighting two at once.

You continue pulling your increasingly heavy body forward. At the same time, you take a stab at Boiz' pride, calling him a coward and the like. This does seem to hold his attention. He turns his head slowly, but not his body. This goes on to the point that his head is on totally backwards. You can hear his bones and joints cracking and creaking under the stress, but it does not appear to discomfort him in the slightest.

"You are valiant human. An ant that stands strong against a hurricane. I admire that about your kind. Some of them. The ones with the will and pride to face the immense dangers that make up this world. Very well, if you want me to finish you like a warrior, I will." At this point Boiz' body begins to turn on his own, following after his head. Again his neck cracks and creaks as his body twists into place beneath his head. Once everything is in proper position, Boiz approaches you. You try to sit up and put up something resembling a fight, but your strength is too little. Boiz lifts you by your hair and uses it to hold you up to his face. He is considerably shorter than you, so your feet drag a bit. You attempt to at least spit blood in his face, but your mouth has gone dry, and he proceeds to jam his fingers down your metal collar, ripping the breastplate away from you.

"Here is the reward for pride."

Boiz brings back his palm and drives it forward into your chest, knocking the wind out of you and sending you crashing into the far wall. As you hit the floor, you think he must have at the very least cracked a few ribs, but you still retain consciousness. He turns back to face Kor and her enemy.

You taunt Boiz once again. He turns back. His face remains collected, but something about him gives off the feeling that he is shaken up by your uncanny ability to remain alive despite absurd injuries. He takes a long step toward you, and seems to close a distance of twenty feet in this one casual stride. He kneels down beside you, grabbing you by the arm, and then suddenly flings you back across the room. Your backplate and the sleeve covering the arm he took hold of slip off as you crash into another stone wall. When you look up, he is upon you again.

"I see leaving a bit of blood in you was a mistake. You're proving to be quite a chirping cricket. If it means your silence, I'll be glad to take the rest." Boiz kneels down, and pulls you up by your tunic to him. You have no strength left to challenge him, nor to fight back as he turns your face away to access the intake side of your neck.

You are forced to look away and watch Kor beat down on something you cannot see. But there is something else. A man, in silk robes and leather slippers, raising a cup of wine. He grins warmly, and gives you a gesture of approval.

Boiz hisses as he comes down with is fangs, full force. You feel them hit your skin, and the immense pressure that pushes them shut. Yet, there is no pain. Instead, there is screaming in your ear, and then you are pushed away. Boiz stands and stumbles backward, holding his mouth with both hands. You look around. White stones now litter the ground beneath where he was. Upon closer inspection, they are bits of teeth.

It seems she managed to over power her opponent and hurl him at Boiz, giving you a moment to think. You look over to Boiz as he shoves something off of him, and tries to get back up.

You feel something hot building up in your stomach. You tell Kor to stand back as instinct kicks in. You plant your feet, and take a long, deep breath. This breath is longer than any you thought you were able to hold, to the point that your stomach begins to expand unnaturally. Thankfully, your armor is not thee to constrict it.

You bring your head back and feel something hot and gooey fill your mouth, much like vomit, only not as unpleasant. When you come forward again, you are shocked to see white hot flames erupt from your throat and rush at the wall where Boiz sits, trying to regain his composure. You keep this up a while, searing the wall to the point that the stone begins to glow and even become molten from the heat.

Finally you run out of breath and fall to your knees, struggling for air. Kor gasps as the smoke clears, and you look up to examine your handiwork. There is a great hole in the side of the pyramid, large enough to fit two men side by side. The edges are red and melted stone brick, and just below it are two pairs or burning leg bones.

The rest of the descent is relatively silent, as you step further into the pitch black depths of the pyramid. Eventually, Kor declares that there are no more stairs. After several minutes of pitch black, and the sound of chipping stone and tumbling bricks, a tiny beam of orange light breaks into the room. Kor cheers to herself, and hasten her pace. Soon more orange light enters, and Kor makes one final push, breaking a hole large enough to squeeze through. She scoops you up and drags you through, entering the warm sunset light. Outside, you smile, finally free of the confines of the pyramid. Kor leans you against the stone wall, and the two of you take a moment to bask in the sun, before you notice the man standing in the shadow of the next pyramid.

He is a tall, powerfully built man with a lantern jar and a shock of blond hair. He too is dressed in an outfit of hide and feathers, only this one involves boots, short pants, and a shirt with only a single sleeve. "We have many women here, but not the one you speak of. In fact, she has proven herself quite a nuisance in recent weeks. If my brothers told you anything to the contrary, it was only to egg you on, I assure you. Unfortunately, as much as I'd like to wash my hands entirely of you, my master now demands that you be enthralled, to serve as our warriors. I disagree, but my word has no sway over him. You and your kind will replace our brothers, and serve as the new guard. As soon as the shadow of this temple reaches the shadow of yours." He points to the ground. He was the first to awaken years ago, and with him, we've been rebuilding our old kingdom, one citizen at a time. As for food, any blood will do, but the blood of humans is so much sweeter than mere beasts. And it comes with the benefit of making one loyal to our cause. Boiz should have tried to turn you, but he was a fool, and hasty in his reasoning. He did not come to the same conclusion I have."

As Doktadre prattles on, you prepare yourself. When you've collected enough breath, you stand and make a break for the treeline, shouting for Kor to come along. You then collapse thirty feet after starting, and run out of breath. You feel woozy, and quite sick. It seems your blood hasn't had proper time to get flowing again.

You ask Kor for assistance, and she tries to pick you back up and carry you away again. You make it a bit further before you hear something behind you. You look back and see Doktadre pulling a stone from the side of the pyramid he stands beneath. He brings his arm back, and in one lighting fast motion, flings it.

The brick smashes into Kor's leg, causing a grotesque noise as she falls to the ground, shouting in agony. You hit the grass and roll, quickly going over to check on her. Her lower leg bones is shattered. You look over to Doktadre.

"I may not be able to reach you through the light myself, but I won't allow you to get away so easily." He reaches into the cracked part of the pyramid slope and breaks off another chunk of brick. "It shames me to have to resort to such petty methods. We want you alive, so be kind enough to hold still and wait."

You rouse Kor from her pained groans and tell her that you need to keep going. She nods, gritting her teeth, and the two of you move as quickly as two people with limited use of their legs are able. Kor brings you back onto her own back, allowing you to turn and face Doktadre as you run. You begin inhaling again, ready to spew the gout of white flame again.

There is nothing.

Doktadre flings another brick, slamming into Kor's remaining leg, and rendering her unable to crawl, let alone walk. You fall off of her, and into the grass. You sit back up and begin trying to breath fire once more, but you aren't sure how to ignite it. The sun is falling behind the trees now, and soon the whole area will be shaded. You must think of something.

You search around for any stones that may serve to light a spark, in hopes that it will be enough to light your previously utilized ability. As you do, you begin uttering a prayer, but one that seems to hold little weight, even in your own mind.

"I won't be frightened by that act. I know what Boiz did not. Madon robbed you of holy power. You're little but an overfed human with a talent for swinging heavy things." The shadows begins creeping up as the trees sway in the afternoon breeze. They've almost reached you. Kor tries to sit up and help you, but time is up. The shadows connect to you.

"Finally. Enough cavorting about. Become one of us." Doktadre vanishes in a flash, and in less than a split second, is looming over you. He bares a set of enormous, razor sharp fangs. Saliva drips from his mouth as he reaches his hands down to grab hold of you. You flinch away, but when death is not swift, you notice that he is stopped. Then his head tumbles from his neck, landing in your lap and drying up like an old flower petal. His body does the same, and eventually crumbles under its own weight. Kor is speechless, poking at the pile of dust that moments ago was bent on enthralling you. You look around, and spot someone. A thin, heavily robbed person stands a few feet behind Doktadre's remains, holding a chipped longsword.

Annalise is breathing heavily. Her breath smells slightly foul, and she is staring into your eyes with longing and sadness. You try to speak, and ask her if something is the matter, but you find yourself paralyzed.

Pietra sits on the ground beside Annalise and places a hand on her forehead, as if to measure a fever. You're not sure if she thinks this will help, of if she only means to be comforting. Pietra asks if Annalise feels well.

"So hungry. Just a little taste, and I can sleep. Peaches, spice, anything. Please?" Annalise is on the verge of tears as she struggles to reach you. Pietra places a hand over her own mouth, trying not to give way to emotion. Maurice steps up and examines Annalise more closely.

You watch as she nuzzles Pietra's neck, then pricks it lightly with a canine, and finally places her mouth on it.

Pietra groans at first, unsure of how to feel, but in a few moments, the situation seems to calm down. Annalise gently sucks on Pietra's neck, sipping from the small trickle of blood there, and Pietra responds by gently stroking her head.

"It's not bad, actually. It doesn't even hurt. It tickles a bit. She's sort of like a nursing baby." You can hear Annalise's heavy breathing slow as she nurses, becoming calm but deep draws. She continues to suckle a while longer, until finally she seems to have had her fill, and releases Pietra's neck with a wet smacking noise.

As Pietra and Annalise rest on the ground, you converse with Maurice, putting together what you know and hoping to come to some sort of helpful conclusion.

"All I can say for certain is that those creatures caused this. From what Miss says, they bite her and let her go into the jungle, assuming she'd turn and come back in a matter of time. Her holy power prevents her from turning, however, but that may not last forever. We need a cure to be sure. It's possible that slaying the last of those creatures may cure it, but there are about equal chances that we can simply rub garlic on her head and achieve the same effect. I simply don't know enough about them."

You can't seem to come up with anything new, and seeing as you're still dead tired, you decide to call it a night. The group splits up and heads back to their beds, with the exception of Pietra, who claims to be ready to take her watch. Annalise informs you that she doesn't actually sleep anymore, and offers to keep Pietra company for a while. This is all very odd.

"Cmon, buddy! Just have a big old swig of me!" You look at your hands, and realize that the cup is the one who answered. The smiling face has changed expression, and continues to do so.

"Welcome to my domain, the Stone Tower. I remodeled that field of dead flowers into this. It's a bit barren, I know, but I only really use it for one thing and I don't need it to be pretty for that. Pietra looks over to you and sees your expression of quiet satisfaction. This seems to upset her.

She turns back to Annalise and looks her in the eye, surprising her slightly. Your heart skips a beat when she brings Annalise's lips to hers. Annalise is shocked at first, but does not resist.

"There, that's out of the way, now drink." Pietra licks her lips and displays her neck for Annalise. You glance around, but it seems the show was entirely private. When you look back, Annalise has already pricked Pietra's neck and started suckling. You can feel the blood rising in your face as Pietra makes eye contact with you and strokes Annalise's hair. The table has turned, so to speak.

After a minute of this, Annalise pulls away with another wet smack, and takes a deep breath. Pietra wipes her neck as the two of them scoot away from each other.

You stand and tell the others to prepare to leave. They each begin gathering what they need. Annalise straps in her sword, and wraps herself in a large cloak, one that seems a bit too large on her. You suppose it must be protection against the sun.

It's clear as you finish preparations that nobody but Annalise is in good form. Still, five on one is your best weapon.

As you make it out of the treeline, you spot the pyramids. Pietra is even good enough to remember which is the one you entered, and together you all descend the hill, cross the grass, and begin climbing the stone steps. Annalise slows you down a bit, being very careful to avoid direct contact with the sun. It takes a bit longer than you would have hoped, but you get to the top and peer down the hole there. Pietra calls for you from above. She and Kor have made it up, and are helping Maurice and Annalise. You tell them you just wanted to check something. Then, you hear something else, much louder. All around, the walls of the room begins exploding inward, showering you with rubble. From the holes emerge dozens of think, pale figures. They crawl along the ground like animals, hissing and licking their lips as they approach you. Annalise drops back down and rushes to your side, drawing her sword. Maurice hesitates, dangling and watching the situation. You raise your hands to fight, and one of the figures speaks.

"Our master, Leapaldo, has sent us to convince you. He wishes to show you the power of his service. We were mere farmers, but now we have the strength to crush stone. You call to your comrades, and they swiftly drop down to aid you. Annalise hits the ground and draws her holy symbol, raising it up and speaking words you don't understand. When she does, the symbol begins flashing rapidly, emitting golden light that fills the room and stuns your enemies. They screech and cry in pain as your friends fall upon them.

Maurice draws a card and rips it in half. He suddenly grows in size, and charges at the creatures, smashing them into dust.

Kor charges as well, reaching you in time to stomp on the clutching wrist of your attacker. It shatters, and Kor punts their head away before helping you up.

Pietra, lacking the raw power of some, merely turns to her old tricks. She hurls a volley of small knives that harm a few enemies. But just as you think she is done, the knives ignite and explode, blowing the creatures to pieces.

Just as before, the creatures shatter and crumble like porcelain dolls. When you regain your feet, you join in as well, but you have trouble doing much damage unarmed. The best you can do is harden your skin and punch, but your ferocity does not match Kor's by leagues.

When all is done, the light of Annalise's symbol ceases, and your foes lay wasted about the floor of the room. You all catch your breath. This brief moment of relief is cut short when Maurice informs you that Annalise has collapsed. You all turn and see her in a heap beneath the exit, with her symbol spilled from her hand. You ask Pietra for some help, and she gives it in the form of a light poke with one of her daggers to get the blood flowing. They look nearly human, save for gross fangs and blood red eyes made from precious gems that Pietra values at an incredibly high price.

You tell the others to back away from the gems, and they do, although Pietra seems to linger on the gems for a bit longer than you think it appropriate.

You continue searching for the path forward, and eventually Pietra finds a secret door in one of the walls. She presses a stone, activating a mechanism that opens the door and reveals a staircase.

The five of your venture down the stone staircase together.

"It's really narrow in here." These are the last words uttered by Kor before the stairs fall out from beneath you, turning into a steep slope that sends you and your friends sliding down in a frankly comical fashion. You scream as you descend at high speed, for what seems like minutes, and finally come to a stop, tumbling across flat ground. The others crash into you, and the five of you stagger to your feet.

"Ah, so good of you humans to, 'drop in'." You look across the room, a large circular area carved into bedrock. The walls are lined with crystals that shine brilliantly, creating decent light that fills the room quite well. Kneeling with their backs to the wall are dozens upon dozens of withered men and women, all bowing before a single man.

He stands tall and broad with flowing blond hair. He is dressed in nothing but a hide loincloth and a headband that ties up his hair and is adorned with a single feather. His smile is bright and handsome, but grotesque at the same time. He crosses his arms smugly, trying to show off his well toned arms. His eyes dance across you and your friends before he speaks.

"It seems you had quite a fall. I suppose you could say that you've hit, 'rock bottom."
