Sent to the Sith Holy world of Korriban to complete the Sith Trials, you've been causing quite a stir. Until recently, seeing a Kaleesh, or any alien, for that matter at the Sith academy would be a bit odd. But, with the order desperate to replenish its numbers to fight the Jedi, alien Sith have become more common. On your first trial, you murdered two of your fellow acolytes in the Tomb of Ajunta Pall. That same night, you crossed another acolyte, a Rattataki named Nall. He used the force to fling you from the Academy's cantina, and smashed you against the walls of the nearby hallway until you retaliated, torturing him until the Dark Honor Guards ordered you to stop. Early the next morning, your Overseer summoned you. Expecting to walk into a reprimand, you were instead praised for your display of power and ruthlessness. You were given your second trial early, and were sent into the Tomb of Ajunta Pall to retrieve two training holos stolen by tomb looters. Making your way through the tomb, you ambushed a pair of looters, torturing them for the location of the holos. The noise attracted the wormlike beasts within the tombs, and you used a dying acolyte as bait as you made your way to the location of the holos. You were nearly killed entering the chamber, coming under fire from a pair of looters. However, you used the tortured screams of one of the looters to attract the beasts, which ripped the two to shreds and bit the arm off their leader before dying. After an intense battle, you killed the leader and looted the corpses of the looters. You then viewed the holos before going back to the Academy, reporting your success to the Overseer and afterwards going to the infirmary, where the obnoxious medical droid treated your injuries.
>>
>Welcome to Sith Quest

Here is the basic layout. Decisions will be made by voting on various options. Whichever option has the most votes after ten minutes is the winner. All votes are final, so choose wisely. Also, you can add some dialogue to your vote, if you wish. During combat, if you want to say something, just type what you want to say with your vote. During conversations, if multiple people supply different dialogue, I will combine as many as I can so long as they do not contradict one another, in order to avoid a conversation taking several hours.

>Important

The combat system will be dice based and use a d100 system. In order to succeed in those options, one out of the first three rolls must be equal to or greater than the specified number. However, if a number of 4 or lower is rolled in the first three, then whatever you were attempting will go very badly. On the other hand, if a number of 96 or higher is rolled in the first five, then whatever you are attempting will go very well unless a roll of 4 or below occurred in the first three.

Rolls will not occur until the voting time is up and the option for a particular roll has won

>THIS IS A CHALLENGING QUEST, AND BAD DECISIONS WILL GET YOU KILLED.

am I the only one getting some serial tension from the medical droid?

I think we'll have to take that droids head and attach it to the body of a whore droid at some point.

Leaving the infirmary and the obnoxious medical droid behind, you walk the halls of the academy. Acolytes rush all around you, making their way to the library, or to the chambers of their Overseers or other masters, or to complete their trials. With your own trial completed for today, it's up to you to decide what to do with your time. You could simply explore the academy or the area surrounding it. You could visit the library and look for helpful information. Or, you could simply go get some sleep. Then again, perhaps Overseer Damul will give you your next trial early if you ask him.

With all the free time you now have, you decide that you may was well put it to use. You decide to go to the library and do some learning. You look around for the nearest Dark Honor Guard, finding one in the central chamber and asking her for directions.

"The library fills two rooms on the second floor, right at the top of the stairs," she tells you, gesturing to a pair of nearby staircases.

Crossing the chamber and climbing the stairs, you make your way down a small hallway.

You find yourself in a large room with walls lined with holobooks and holotablets. There are two floors within this room, each containing countless volumes of information. You spot some strange, pyramid shaped objects on shelves on the top floor, and another short hallway leading to an adjacent room, likely containing more information.

You set to work searching the countless volumes of the academy library for information on force abilities. Unfortunately, it seems as if much of that information is restricted so that acolytes cannot access it. However, you continue to search, hoping to find something useful.

There are countless references to Sith abilities and rituals, but frustratingly little information on how to perform any of them. Records of Sith alchemy being used to heal wounds and twist life are many, but the only information you can find on any of it is in reference to basic healing. A single line is all there is.

"You must will the cells of your target to heal the injuries, overpowering the cell's resistance with your own willpower."

Some more reading tells you of powerful rituals used to summon massive storms, or drive entire armies mad, or even raise them from the dead as mindless servants. To your disappointment, however, you cannot access any information on how to perform these rituals.

You focus on the wound in your side, and call on the force. You strain with your power and will, commanding the cells in your body to repair the damage. You strain with the effort, but, whatever is supposed to happen simply doesn't. Your cells refuse to obey you, and the wound does not mend itself. Perhaps you are not yet powerful enough, or perhaps your will was simply not strong enough. No matter, you can always try again later.

You shift the focus of your research, searching for information lightsaber combat. Fortunately, far less of this information is restricted, and you read much.

You read of the Sith Juggernauts, who become unstoppable bulwarks of dark energy, their defenses near-impenetrable, their strength incredible.

You read of the Sith marauders, vicious warriors who battle savagely, striking hard and fast to break through an opponent's defenses and take them down quickly.

You read of the Sith assasins, who use the force to mask their presence and strike against foes who are completely offguard, and use the force along with an unorthodox fighting style to give themselves an edge in combat.

The text also says that many Sith Sorcerers forsake lightsaber combat altogether, using the force as their only weapon. However, some sorcerers utilize a combat style combining basic lightsaber technique with devastating force attacks.

Shifting your search once again, you read all you can about the Sith Sorcerer's. You soon find a volume that sums them up rather well.

"The Sith Sorcerers spend their lives delving into the mysteries of the force, searching for ways to unlock its secrets and discovering paths to powers lesser Sith could never even imagine. The ancient Dark Lord Naga Sadow used the force to project images of massive armies during his invasion of the Republic, causing his foes to scatter in terror. Other Sith have created mighty dark side beasts, from the vicious Tuk'ata to the mighty Tarentatek. A rivalry between two sorcerers is a frightening thing, as the dark powers they unleash can annihilate entire civilizations as well as one another. While focused on force abilities, many sorcerers still view knowledge of lightsaber combat as a necessity, and so created a fighting style that blended force powers with lightsaber techniques. This technique can be very dangerous to the foes of its wielder. A simple parry can be followed by a horrifically powerful force attack at close range. However, there are some Sorcerers who disregard martial skills altogether, believing the force to be all they need to destroy their foes."

You decide that you want to know more about famous Sith Sorcerers, and you begin with Naga Sadow.

You read of how he was a favorite to succeed the Dark Lord Marka Ragnos upon his death, and how at Ragnos's funeral, he engaged in a fierce duel with his rival, Ludo Kressh. During the battle, the spirit of Marka Ragnos himself appeared, stopping the duel. Sadow and Kressh temporarily made peace, and two explorers from the Republic soon arrived. Sadow decided to use them, and began to manipulate both them and his fellow Sith in order to sieze power and war with the Republic. Kressh and his allies attempted to stop him, but were outmaneuvered and defeated. Sadow then made war with the Republic, dwelling within a massive meditation sphere and conjuring images that made the Sith armies appear far more vast than they actually were. However, a betrayer caused him to lose his concentration, and the images vanished. The Republic quickly turned the tide, and Sadow fled back to Korriban with his armies, only to find Ludo Kressh alive and commanding a fleet which he pitted against Sadow. The battle was fierce, but Sadow directed a crippled ship into Kressh's flagship, killing him. Sadow then abandoned his forces as the Republic arrived, fleeing to Yavin IV, where he later died.

You climb the stairs and approach the shelves holding several of these strange objects. Cautiously, you reach out and touch one. There is a pulse of dark energy as your hand comes into contact with the object, and a small figure appears on top of it.

Ignoring his taunts and biting back the urge comment on his appearance, you simply say "Yes. Teach me."

Skotia is silent for a moment, apparently not expecting that response. It doesn't last long, though.

"I have no secrets to share with alien filth like you," he hisses. "Your kind will be the death of our order, of our empire. "The Sith are already dying," you tell him. "Why do you think an alien like myself is welcomed as an apprentice?"

"Because the true Sith have been nearly wiped out, and fools now take their places, allowing aliens and slaves a place in our order," he replies.

"As I understand, it was a former slave who killed you, and then later rose to a seat on the Dark Council. Underestimating others is what's killing the Sith," you respond.

He is silent for nearly a minute before speaking softly.

"There is one thing I will share with you," he tells you. "My body was horrifically damaged, there was no way I should have been able to survive. But my hatred gave the power to endure until I was given this body. It is a simple lesson, but an important one. Hatred is a powerful tool, it makes the Sith what we are. Use your hatred, swim in its power, and even the most horrifying injuries will not stop you."

He vanishes.

"Well, that was...interesting," a voice beside you comments.

Turning, you find yourself looking down at a young, athletic looking human woman with shoulder-length red hair.

"Talking down a dead Sith Lord is not something I've seen an acolyte do before," she tells you with an amused smile.

You ask the woman who she is.

"I am Veelna Mal, apprentice to Lord Dramar," she tells you cheerfully.

You ask her what she wants.

"Oh, just to say that I was impressed. Like I said, an acolyte managing to talk down a Darth, especially a dead one is very new," she replies simply. "If you're wondering why I'm here, my master just asked me to do some research for him."

You tell her that you find it odd that a Sith is being so friendly.

She shrugs. "We're all on the same side, aren't we? And besides, a Sith has enough enemies, making enemies out of every other Sith is just stupid."

You then ask her what kind of research she's doing.

"Sorry, that's something I can't tell you," she replies. "But, it is something my master believed that academy library might have some information on."

"I'll leave you to it, then," you tell her.

She nods. "Good luck on your trials, acolyte."

With that, she turns and begins examining nearby holotablets, leaving you to decide what to do next.

You could go get some sleep, after all, you woke up early and you're not sure how much time you spent in the library. You could go to the cantina and get a drink or socialize. You could go to Overseer Damul's chambers to see if the other acolytes have returned yet, or, you could research something else.

You're tired and you need your rest.

Leaving the library, you walk down the stairs to the first floor, and make your way to the rom where you sleep, finding your bed, climbing into it, and getting some much deserved rest.

Nice thread Somnius.
I am wondering how does learning things through research modify our abilities or DCs?
>>
>>32317017
Being taught or reading how to use an ability makes it an option in certain scenarios, and the more you use or practice an ability, the lower dicerolls you'll need for it.
>>
>>32317041
Good to know. Thanks for running Som. Looking forward to next time
