You are Gertrude Pool, Sophomore Class President and new commander of Lafayette Girls Academy’s revived Tankery Team.

“AAAAAAAHHHHH!”

“AAAAAAHHHHH!”

your sides no please no come back where are you going

You quietly laugh as Fairless and Kitten scramble to get off of each other. You don’t know what you were thinking to do last night, but it sure as hell was funny.

“Goddamn it, Trudy!” yells Kitten as she covers herself up with a blanket. Fairless meanwhile is already getting dressed out, angry at being woken up so early. Mind you, they were pretty cute sleeping together. Kitten nibbling on Fairless’ ear, Fairless moaning quietly in bliss. The works.

But they’re now awake and they’re not exactly happy. It’s time to beat a hasty retreat.

You take a quick shower, dress out, then set out breakfast for everyone. Cereal, milk, some oranges, the likes. “Come on guys!” you say as they awkwardly eat breakfast. “It was funny wasn’t it.”

Fairless says, “I was wondering what was biting at my ear.”

“Yeah,” says Kitten simply. “I was wondering why I kept hearing ‘Gertrude’ as you slept-“ Fairless kicks her under the table.

“Come on, guys! It was really cute! I even took a picture!”

Fairless says, “Much as I like having companions to sleep with. I didn’t find it funny.”

“Well,” you say as you stuff your pajamas into your bag. “You may, later on.”

Kitten crosses her arms as you walk out the door. “Still can’t believe I was chewing on your ear.”

“Yeah, Kitten, you seem to have a habit on biting things when you sleep lately. I’d check that out if I were you.” You smile. “Not that it ain’t the cutest thing since Hello Kitty.”

You meet with the Senior Council, dressed out in jackets for the colder weather. Claire looks at you. “Oh, Gertrude. You slept over at Fairless’ place again?”

You nod. “Sure did.”

Henrietta and Andrea giggle a bit, to which Claire elbows Henrietta. “Okay then,” says Claire. “Shall we get to class?”

With that, you head onto the campus.

Okay, so our budget is ~$27K. While pretty reasonable, I think we should stop buying tanks. For now.

The pershing is listed as 45K, so out of our range, for now, unless we use one of the girl scout purchases, which would be *okay*, IMHO.

So, assuming we buy 'big american tank' with the GSA's money, what do we do then? I think sponsoring that team that the crippled girl (forget her name) is teaching would be a good move that would gain us more publicity and possibly even more sponsorships.

Lastly, we need that money to help rebuild our Tankery HQ. IIRC, the insurance covered some of it, but not all.
>>

>The building is paid for via insurance
Cool beans.

I still think we should use that money for more than tanks. Raise tank awareness. Tanks are a dead-end asset, but if we put the money into something like advertising, or our own sponsorships, we can earn more money back.
>>

“So girls, I put in an order for a big tank. The M45 Pershing.”

Henrietta and Andrea gasp in shock. “Really?” asks Henrietta. You nod, smiling. “Cool! When it’s coming?”

“After Pravda,” you say. Their faces fall a bit. “Don’t worry, you can have dibs if you want.”

Andrea says, “Big gun, less problems you know?”

Henrietta says, “I tell you something! It’ll be a hell of a thing in the America-mobile!”

Of course.

But then, you arrive at school.

Fairless says to you, “Hey, maybe after practice we can grab some dinner?”

Kitten walks up behind you. “Actually…I was thinking we could have dinner. Just the two of us. Me and Trudy.”

“Well, Carol, I think Gertrude could use some time away from you,” says Fairless.

Fairless looks at Kitten with a bit of a glare. Kitten puffs her cheeks out, glaring at her too.

Oh for gods sake, you do not need this.

You decide a walk around campus would suit you fine. You say hello to students on the way along with the occasional shooting the shit. Nothing too interesting.

But then you run into Fredendall.

She’s picking up garbage, clad in her school uniform, looking down as hell. A Hall Monitor stands by, making sure she doesn’t escape.

Good sweet justice.

Fredendall looks at you, with a heavy glare, then goes back to picking garbage.

So, let's talk tanks instead...

We have 27,400 available and 2 Girl Scout purchases left. We'll get 30,000 on every Monday. We're clearly in the final stretch here and so can look at putting the finishing touches on our tanks. Just looking at the finances, and not what can be physically done... the Firefly may be the last upgrade we can get in before facing Pravda. And we can probably expect to spend a lot of money on the Pershing once we get it. And outstanding upgrade options include:

StuG III Ausf. F/8: 14,500
T-34/57 Model 1943: 7,500
Panzer IV Ausf. H: 9,500
Sturmpanzer IV Series Three: 2,000
M36B1 Jackson: 15,000
Panther Ausf. G: 22,000
Comet I: 29,000
T-34 Chassis to T-34/85: ~20,000

I don't think we need to buy any new tanks, though if we really are concerned about the Junior Council we might consider the 7TP. It's better than the 1939 Panzer III, and has a couple of experimental upgrades that would give it a high velocity 47mm gun. That would put it on part with the Somua S-35, at least, and would be adequate for a scout tank. Better a mediocre tank wielded with skill and elan than a more powerful tank their smaller crew numbers can't manage effectively. Maybe. Just throwing that out there for consideration.

Anyway, the StuG upgrade offers the lowest real advance in capability relative to cost so should be the lowest priority. I prefer the Comet over the Challenger due to its much lower profile but we can get the Challenger for half the price. Still, I think it might be worth dropping a token on. But we'll also need to get the Panther and T-34 chassis into fighting shape and that will also be 20,000+. In any case the Sturmpanzer, Panzer IV, and T-34/57 can all hit their "terminal" upgrades for 19,000 so doing that first may be advisable, leaving the decisions on tokens and paying for the Panther, T-34 chassis, the Pershing, and upgrading the Cromwell for later.

You give her a wide berth and continue on walking. She huffs as she continues picking up trash.

Oh god that is the best thing you’ve seen all day.

But regardless, class goes by relatively swimmingly. The English professor indeed goes on a lecture about making choices.

“Alright, Class. There’s an important thing you all need to do in your life, and that’s making a good decision. In life, you face a lot of hard choices that will not present an easy path. It’s not precisely black and white like they show in Saturday Morning Cartoons, no. It’s a much more complex thing that you need to realize. And that’s why when you make a choice, it has to be well-informed. College for instance, do your research, try and figure out what you want to do before you get there. Figure out what you want to do in life.”

One of the students raises her hand. “Professor? Why did you become a Teacher?”

“BECAUSE I LIKE HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS THAT’S WHY.”

Yeah.

But, swimmingly. It’s time for lunch.

Some time alone as you eat your lunch. A burger, some fries, a carton of milk. It’s always good time to get a bit introspective or whatever.

Indeed, you have to think about the match with Pravda for instance. If you recall correctly, your flag tank was going to be the Panther tank. That’s Charlotte’s tank. Charlotte, unlike Kate, still hasn’t had a lot of time to really get into her own as a Commander. Then again, you’ve only got two officers for a team of nearly twenty teams. Might be worth it to promote another two soon.

But then, your staff arrives. “Hey, Nancy,” you say. “How were the Japanese girls?’

Nancy sits down next to you, smiling. “They were lovely! A bit mad that I did actually forget about them, but quite lovely!”

Lisa nods. “Yeah, I could hear their high-pitched Japanese squealing from my dorm.” She looks over at you, smiling. “So, how was last night? I heard you, Fairless, and Kitten had a nice night together.”

Okay, judging by our budget, I suggest we get 4 improved engines and two shurzen armor.

One for Trude's Tank since it's Elite and the other is for the Panther.

Imrpoved engine I think we should give it to the Heavy tanks, such as the Tiger and the Churchill since we're going up mountain passes probably.

I'd have to agree with this mostly because Anne is busy with scoutswork, and she's also a Senior which would mean that experience would be gone next year. I'd be cool with Anna as the next officer, and Cathy would be on my short list for the next officer after that.

Other officers I would consider are Samantha and maybe Janet. I would like Marina as well, but she's busy with the SKycraft club (plus they DID blow up one of their own planes...), and all the rest are either inexperienced, not as reliable (Dales is noted as not having very intelligent initiative, and Barkas is not driven), or Seniors.

Ehhh... the dialogue isn't the best way to judge them. I'd rather her be zipping all over the damn place than coordinating. Dory I didn't consider because she's brand new.

Still going for Anna and Cathy: despite her flightiness, Anna's been good at the tanks. Honestly, I'd like Anne as an officer as well, but her main sticking point for me is that she'll be gone after this year.

You point to the Chi-Ha 120mm Short Barrel. “I’m afraid that’s the only tank we have at current that’s available.”

They look at the tank with mixtures of disgust and contempt.

Except for Izumi.

Nezumi, Assam, and Alisa do not look amused. “But don’t worry, you guys!” you say. “Your actual assignment is coming next week.”

Alisa says, “Is it America?”

“Russian.”

Nezumi, Alisa, and Assam further balk. But then Assam says, “Well, you know what they say. In America, you can always find the party but In Soviet Russia, the party always finds you.”

Nezumi makes a barfing motion. “Communist tanks.”

Alisa says, “I think that is something we can agree on Nezumi-san. Dirty communists.”

“Well, hey. The tank is actually pretty decent,” says Assam. “But in Soviet Russia-“

They both yell, “SHUT UP!”

According to what Nezumi told you, Izumi apparently was joyriding at the controls. Figures. They managed to hit the Chaffee hard enough to knock off one of the road wheels and scatter several of the tracks. They’re not light, you’re sure of that.

So thusly, you help Fairless and the Seniors repair it. You also pressgang the Japanese into helping them as well, as punishment.

“I don’t see why I should be blamed for the mistakes of my subordinates!” says Nezumi as she tiredly holds a track a place so it can get reattached.

Izumi says, “Implying I’m your subordinate!”

Alisa says, “Guys, guys. You’re both equally stupid!”

Fairless stands over them, and says, “Shut the fuck up.”

The three of them quiet down, immediately scared out of their minds.

While that’s going on, Joanna leads everyone on a lesson in Command Theory nearby out in the cold.

“Right, from their example, we know that coordination in close formations is important. One little thing out of place can send an entire formation running,” says Joanna. “This is why we have spread. It’s like driving a car on a highway, you give your friendly tanks a decent amount of space to work with. Generally speaking, you want to be ten meters away from each other at least for close formation. Wider stuff, it can be a tank per kilometer. This spread keeps you from bumping into each other and from ricochets bouncing off and penetrating your tank instead of someone else’s. Believe me, that’s happened before, Michelle made it so.”

“Alright, now in any given situation, when you want to angle the armor of a tank, you shouldn’t expose your side armor that much.” Joanna continues her lecture as you finally manage to fix the suspension on the Chaffee. “An extra 5-10 degrees of angling against an enemy tank should suit it fine without exposing the side armor at angle where the shot may penetrate.”

Cathy raises her hand. “What about when you’re moving?”

“Well ideally, if you’re engaging an enemy tank, you should not be moving.” Joanna says, “The thing about it is that you have to consider the gunner. Even Michelle likes to take shots while at a standstill because that’s how you get the best shot. Any shots made on the move are generally for suppressive purposes rather than for trying for a killshot.”

Anna raises her hand. “So basically, if we want to make a killshot, we have to stand still?”

“Well, if you’re moving, you better be at point blank,” says Joanna. “Because you ain’t going to hit shit if you’re moving. Our tanks don’t have the benefits of gyrostabilizers save for a few exceptions. And for certain tanks, firing on the move is just a damn waste of ammo. Pravda for example probably could’ve won their Nationals semi-finals had that IS-2 just stopped and let the gunner aim for just a few seconds.”

You say, “Funny you should be saying this.”

“I know,” says Joanna. “But maneuvering is everything. You maneuver into place, you let the guys wander into your killzone, that’s how things go.”

You rest atop your tank as your crews take a well-deserved rest. Alisa, being the default loader for her team, is caught up in the usual Loader competitions during break.

“I-! I-!” Alisa is doing a hand stand on top of the StuG’s engine block, with Ramirez and Elouise holding her skirt up to protect her modesty. “I can’t go on!”

Ramirez holds a stopwatch. “Two more minutes.”

Elouise says, “Boy, it’d be a shame if I were to let go of your skirt-“

“DON’T YOU DARE!” screams Alisa. The rest of the loaders laugh as they wait on Alisa showing off her purdy pink panties to everyone.

You sigh, sitting next to Kitten on the turret of your M4A1 Sherman.

Nezumi says, “Oh right. Well, Pravda is a very versatile school. That midget knows her way around a good set of tactics. From what I saw of the map, she might try and exploit the mountain passes, turn them into killing zones with IS-2s and tank destroyers.”

You nod. “Okay, I’ll keep that in mind. What about you, Izumi?”

“Well,” Izumi scratches her chin. “I hate to say it, but Nezumi-san’s assessment is sound. The only things they have that could conceivably climb the mountains and probably flank you would be the SU-76s.”

“Alright,” you say.

“Right, let’s get rambling,” says Joanna.

With that, you all return to the tanks to finish off with gunnery practice. The first is the Kilometer challenge, which Michelle, Nancy and Assam pass with flying colors. Assam is a surprising case considering she’s working with a low velocity gun.

“Nice job,” you say.

“Thank you!” says Assam. “It’s not a QF 75, but I can adjust quite well.”

Beyond that, besides the Seniors and Juniors having some trouble with firing their guns, you finish off practice without a hitch.

“Alright,” says Mr. Mishka. “I’ll get those on your tanks before they leave with Aeroscraft.”

“Thanks!”

With that you hang up.

You look over to see Fairless in all her naked glory be harassed by a lot of envious crewmembers.

“Your boobs are so big!” says Cathy. “I’m jealous.”

Fairless stares right ahead, stonefaced. “Thank you.”

“Can I touch them?” asks Jenny.

“I… suppose you can,” says Fairless. Jenny immediately places hands on Fairless’ breasts. Fairless sighs, blushing intensely.

“Wow! Hey, Katya, feel this!” says Jenny.

“Sure!” says Katya. She cups Fairless’ breast. “Huh. Well supported.”

“Yeah,” says Fairless. “Thanks. If you could-“

Katya yells, “Hey, Barkas! Come check out these tits!”

Poor Fairless.

But once the showers are done and out, Kitten approaches you, along with Fairless.

>>32336554
From Kitten and Fairless? Possibly.

From Trude? No. I mean, wanting to focus on Tankery and the school closure and her being so far into the closet that she's in fucking Narnia aside, I don't see any reason for Trudy to tie herself down. I mean, she's 16 and she doesn't know what she wants to do with herself. She has no reason to snub one girl in favor of the other, her sexuality aside, because she hasn't made a choice about her own future.

Actually, that's an interesting commonality between the three of them: Trudy has mentioned repeatedly that she has no idea what she wants to do, Kitten seemingly has no real drive aside from helping Trudy and herself, and Bernadette is waffling on a full ride to Princeton, and has mentioned that she was considering working in LA as a makeup artist after college (not exactly a sign of a determined future).

Actually, that last tidbit about Fairless makes me wonder if her financial future is secured somehow, and thus what her career is doesn't exactly matter to her...

Well, we know that Kitten is attracted to Bernadette but was terrified of her at the same time, and Bernadette thought that Kitten didn't like her because she always tried to avoid Bernadette when she talked to her. You sigh. “Just… please stop. Look, I apologize for that prank, again. Honest to god hand on my heart, may God strike me down if I take my words in vain.” You smile at them, warm as you can. “Please? Just stop?”

Fairless sighs. “I suppose.” She offers her hand to Kitten. “Friends?”

Kitten looks at you, then takes Fairless’ hand and shakes it. “Friends.”

You leave the BBQ place. Fairless says, “Well, I’ll pack my stuff and meet you there with everyone else, Gertrude.”

“Alright,” you say. “See you then, Fairless.”

Fairless nods, tousling your hair a bit.

Fairless retracts her hand, stepping back. “That was awkward.”

She steps back again. “I’m not going to do that again.” She turns around. “Bye.” And then she walks off.

Kitten laughs a bit. “Hmph. She’s charming, Gertrude, to say the least.”

You shrug. “Come on, tough guy.”

With that, you arrive back at your dorms. How much should you pack though?

Kitten holds up your sexy panties. “Why are you taking your sexy underwear?”

You shrug. “Why not? I might meet a cute Australian boy or something.”

“Gertrude, I think you’re going to have to give up hope at some point,” says Kitten. “I don’t think we’ll ever meet a cool guy willing to date either of us.”

You pout. “Shut up, Kitten! Just watch. After the match, I’ll be one of those teen pregnancy people and I’ll get my own damn reality show on MTV! And then I’ll save the school through all the funding I make out of it!”

“That…” Kitten sighs. “You know, that’s actually not a bad idea.”

“Well, yeah,” you say. You stuff the sexy underwear into the suitcase. “Besides, if you want to see me in them, you could just ask!”

Kitten crosses her arms, smirking. “I’ve seen you in the buff, the underwear would just be a distraction.”

“True.”

With that, the two of you leave and get on your way to the airport.

When it says the rounds were tested against sloped armor, the penetration value is exactly what you think it is.
The reason it was tested against sloped armor is because sloped armor tends to shatter rounds, the reasoning behind it was that the slope would better simulate battlefield conditions where the perfect shot against 90 degrees was rare.

The Pershings certainly are excellent Medium/Heavy tanks. The Shermans supporting essentially create a huge wall of firepower that Ace can safely advance behind. She occasionally throws in other Chaffees and the Stuarts into the mix as well just for kicks.

You sit down next to Charlotte. “Nervous?”

“Me? Nervous?” Charlotte laughs loudly. “Ahahaha! Yes, yes I am.”

Kate nods, leaning back in her seat, already covered in a blanket. “Yeah, just stay back, don’t be so mental.”

You say, “Since you guys are here, do you have recommendations for the next Officer? Anybody you think might do good in the post?”

Charlotte shrugs at that, quiet. Kate says, “Well, I’d promote a veteran, Gertrude. Cathy, Anna, or Samantha. I’d recommend Marina but she seems a bit stressed from having to work on Skycraft.”

“So, what the strategy you guys propose?”

Kate and Charlotte spend some time studying the map off your lap. “Well,” says Kate. “I reckon the passes here and there will serve to funnel us in. The left side is an entire open space that can probably be taken advantage of by Pravda. They put IS-2s there supported by T-34s and Tank destroyers, they can force us into the pass where our technological advantage won’t matter for shit. Because as you can see, they have the height advantage.”

Charlotte nods. “Agreed. I think that maybe if we rush with all our tanks either one way or the other, we can force a breakthrough, maybe catch the flag tank unawares. Seal the deal from there. If we try to play defensively, we’d have to play to mountain pass we’d start in. We’d essentially be surrounded with no place to go.”

Kate says, “But, we could easily reinforce either flank, unlike Pravda.”

You say, “Well, I’m partial to the offensive strategy myself.”

“Of course,” says Kate. “Well, tomorrow will be a day of finalizing the plans perhaps.”

That's it for today! I will return tomorrow at the usual time of 3 PM EST.

Follow at: https://twitter.com/GermanSchteel

Before I leave the thread, I'd like to clarify one thing.

Although I have stated that there may not be any romance in LGA proper, and I'd like to remain on this stance, I consider myself flexible. I reward you guys with your patience and your persistence with all the mistakes I have made with this Quest and I thank you all truly for staying by it at its worst moments.

In terms of romance, Gertrude may not actually try and romance other characters. It won't stop others from trying that's for sure. In terms of character interactions, whatever happens may affect the epilogue so to speak for a different ending for a character.

So think of it like this, you interact the right way, perhaps Gertrude will end up with this particular person in the future.

So, honestly. Thank you all for staying. I'm sorry if I disappointed any of you. See you next time.
>>
>>32340216
Thanks for running. See you tomorrow.
>>
So who are we sending out for this match?

I'm actually inclined to field the chi-ha due to the expertise of the team. Seems pretty good and experienced. Probably not all that far from eliting.
>>
>>32340216

>>
>>32340216

>>
>>32340216

Nah its good.

Thanks for running, schteel.
>>
>>32340297
A chance may come for that later.
>>
>>32340267

Several arguments against:

1. It would be a dick move to the other teams that were training before they got there. Metagame wise, we can reverse it, but IC it's a concern.

2. Their actual effectiveness is questionable. The commander, driver, and loader aren't exactly working as a team. The tank isn't particularly good, and their saving grace is that Assam is Best Girl and Best Shooter.

Given those two considerations, I would lean towards No.
>>
>>32340307
Eeeewwwww!!!
>>
>>32340338
Agreed though, considering they have the high ground counter artillery may be a good idea.

At least enough of a surpressing fire to allow a break through
>>
>>32340147

So, are we talking Officers now?

It seems like the last few posts made Samantha the #1 candidate in my eyes. Cathy would still be a good #4 officer because we do want to develop her.
>>
>>32340338
Agreed here. They need to watch us, understand us, and then stop crapping all over each other.

On the subject of Officers. Cathy is reluctant, tells us Anna has not shown interest and Samantha really wants it.

We should pounce on those two and get the full circle of opinions, as well as asking them "what of the other two"
>>
>>32340395
Samantha meets the requirements, just need a bit of trigger discipline
>>
>>32340338

Might need some artilleey support to flush out the pravda tanks, especially if we're assaulting upwards. At least that was my consideration.

The brumbar by itself has too low a rate of fire.
>>
>>32340147
Well, Anna doesn't want it and Cathy doesn't think she's ready, but Sam is hype.

>>32340267
They're also not working well together. We can save them for when they're not conflicting with each other. So far Assam is the only one not being a shit.

I think the teams to sit out should be the Juniors, Seniors, and the Japanese.
>>
>>32340420
We can use the Stug as well maybe the Churchill.
>>
>>32340420
Well whoever we pick as the new officer, I think it's safe to say we leave them in charge of Artillery support
>>
>>32340420
It's really a shame Charlotte's crew is the flag tank: they've could've taken control of that trouble area before Pravda had a chance to get there.
>>
>>32340539
We could have taken the high ground.

but in this case we can use this ability to hide somewhere
>>
>>32340574

Probably best to have the panther with the main force provide it with support.

Dont want it isolated from our forces and then attacked.
>>
>>32340612
Maybe? It's also very risky but their are also limited path ways in the mountains
>>
>>32340657

And likely if they dont see our flag tank, they'll continue scouting. That'll be our sop too. It'll only be a matter of time bdfote they find the panther.

With our force, it can hang back at the rear and if we're assaultinv upwards, it can provide some covering fire from the rear.
