Welcome back to Golem Quest! Where you take upon the form of a golem who, as fate may have it, has the gift of sentient thought! So far, you have learned the basics of enchantment, golem creation, and golem animation, have befriended the apprentice of your deceased creator, saved a village from enslavement, and have drafted one of the slavers to begin research in your tower of creation! And that's where our story resumes.

I'd like to have Tomas and the Bandit both work on researching the tome.

We can make more golems ourselves.

Let's have Tomas focus on improving his own magics. He's already got a good base, so let him improve it.

Hoping for a tiebreaker anon. Anotherwise I'll have to roll the d6 of Major Tiebreaking.

You pause in your repair efforts to ascend to the study. There, you instruct Tomas that you believe that his efforts would better be allocated toward researching the tome with your new towermate. In short order, the two are working together, with Lefty keeping a close eye on them.

You return to your repairing, and find it goes rather smoothly. Roughly, after an hour you are done. Checking in with Tomas and Bandit reveals that they haven't made much progress with the tome. The language barrier seems to be a tough nut to crack, though they have parsed through a few pages thanks to the visual aids in the tome. No spells have been parsed through completely yet.

Combat golems, as >>32406236
suggests.

I basically have two goals right now - build up a golem army sufficient to deal with the bandit chief that's probably coming after us, and learn how to spread our consciousness across multiple golem bodies.

I figure the first will require research into how to create war golems, then building up gatherer golems to get the resources necessary.

The second I have no idea aside from experimentation with linked golems.
>>
>>32406376
We really need to set up a quarry or something if the town doesn't have one nearby.
>>
>>32406522
A couple of iron golems could take sixty bandits.
>>
>>32406522
That's what I was gonna suggest.
we can study some magics, in the vicinity of tom and the badit, while lefty digs.

We'd have to find a suitable location, and tools first, though.

Upon completing the third tier of Craft:Golem, you are able to create golems with a specialization, with a 25% increase to the cost. Is this what you're looking for?

The specializations are identical to what were offered to you in the beginning of the first thread.

Are we limited to certain materials when making golems?
>>
Inquire as to how our creator got his raw crafting resources, maybe he had a trade agreement? Eventually we will need more
>>
>>32406647
Will we also be able to make golems of different sizes once we get to craft 3?

You transfer yourself, and a number of tomes written on the crafting of golems, to the study, where you find the other three denizens of your small tower.

You set your tomes down and begin to scan through them. The going is long, as you begin to delve deeper into the minutiae of stone golem crafting. It takes roughly twenty-four hours to develop your understanding to another plateau. During this process your two fleshy counterparts take their leave roughly a third of the way into your research, to attend to their needs of rest. You forge on alone, and learn that through the judicious use of extra materials, and the enchantment thereof, one can create a specialized form of the golem. It is of the Crafter variety that you have been forged.

After your lengthy research period, you question Tomas.

"After the creation of another golem, our stone reserves will be quite low. How did the Creator obtain his resources in the storage chamber?"

"Well, he never really used any of the stone during the period I was in apprenticeship, other than to create you. I don't know how he obtained the resources in storage now, and I don't think we have the means currently to make any trade except with Goravan, the nearby village."

>Craft:Golem(Stone) III Unlocked: You may now create stone golems with the Specializations of Warrior, Crafter, and Spellcaster.

>Research:Tome:Spell Found!
>Enchantment II:Keen
>Permanently enchant a weapon to slice cleaner and straighter. Provides a +10 combat bonus to slicing weapons. Costs 50 iron.
>>
>>32407143
Guess we need to head to town and ask about quarries.
>>
>>32407143
>slicing weapons
Bladed weapons you mean.
>>
>>32407214
Essentially.
>>
>>32407198
Our tower is in the side of a mountain, maybe we could make a mine?
>>
>>32407143
>[]Navigate(Town)

we need to see about getting supplies for our army. Both stone and metal, since we'll have to arm them as well.
>>
>>32407143
Oh, let's Enchant the weaponry we already have in storage.
>>
>>32407263
Also where is the character sheet?
>>
>>32407297
Seconding, unless that takes resources.

We should also ask Tomas about the possibility of trade, and inspect the mountain side for proper quality stone.
>>
>>32407345
It lists the cost right in the last post, anon. I was voting for it regardless, since we're not making Iron golems.

>>
>>32407376

Yea, with you on that.
>>
>>32407376
From what I know Iron golem are superior for combat.
>>
>>32407297
>>32407345
You need to have Enchantment II to cast Keen. Syntax is <Magic><Level>:<Spell>
>>
>>32407453
Probably, but we don't know how to make decent Iron golems, and don't have the time to learn and get the large amount of Iron we'd need.

I'm saying we get a quarry going, make a bunch of stone golems, since we can make warriors out of them, and give them enchanted weapons.
>>
I'll give you guys some time to deliberate, and if I see the discussion slowing, I'll post a vote for the choices discussed. So far I have seen interest in going back to the village, going for a bit of enchanting, and converting a portion of the mountain into a mine. Feel free to ask questions as needed.
>>
>>32407525
Would any of the specialized types get bonuses to working in quarry?
>>
>>32407525
I say we head to the village first. We can ask them about a mine or quarry around here, and if they're alright with it, we can start one up in our mountain.
>>
>>32407542
None that you can create at this point. For a cost of stone, I'd be willing to allow Experiment:Stone Golem: Miner, with a large amount of stone available. That's a story for later though.
>>
>>32407617
I don't see how we need their permission to build a quarry in the mountain.

That said, they may have surveys of the area which would make placing a quarry or mine much easier, so we should probably go to the village.
>>
>>32407762
Just want to make sure they didn't have 'rights' to it like frontiersman or something. We don't really know about the larger world yet.

You make your way back to the village of Goravan. It takes roughly an hour and a half, all said and done. Doing so you ask around until you find the lord once more, which is fairly easy in such a small village.

"Ah, our stony crusader returns. What can I do for you, strong fellow?"

"I am interested in harvesting natural resources. Particularly stone. Do you have any operations currently harvesting the substance?"

"Something like a quarry? No, I'm afraid not. Any stone we have is imported from a town roughly two weeks travel east of here. I would like to set up such an operation, but unfortunately the manpower, as you have seen, cannot sustain it. The only thing of the sort is the rather dismal lumber mill."

What do you do?

You may deliberate otherwise. I'm not in a hurry tonight, though I am usually rather slow at this.

Find a suitable place for the quarry.
somewhere between town and our workshop.
>>
>>32408432
>>[]Speak: Question
Ask if they know of a good place to set up a quarry, and if they would be alright with us harvesting from there with golems.
>>
>>32408432
>[]Speak: Question
Would you have any problem with me setting one up? If I am to construct enough defenders for this town, I'll need resources.
>>
>[]Speak:Question

"Do you know of any suitable place to quarry?"

"Unfortunately, I do not. And unless there was a sudden influx of new labor to sustain such a venture, I couldn't capitalize on it.

What do you do?
>>
>>32408847
>[]Speak: Question
Do you have a supply of metal? If so, would you be willing to trade stone for it?
>>
>>32408847
>[]Explore:<Quarry Site>
We need to see if there's a good place around here for digging.
>>
>>32408847
Labor is a problem I may solve on my own, but I lack the knowledge of mining itself.

If I can find someone to front me materials I may be able to start a quarry.
>>
>>32408917
>digging
Mining anon.
>>
>>32409103
Is it still mining if you're just getting a shit-ton of stone? I figured it was only mining when you're actually trying to collect something specific, like metals or jewels.
>>
>>32409244
Stone is specific. There are many kinds of stone, and I would imagine we would need high grade, construction material worthy stone. You can't just dig that out of the ground anywhere.
>>
>>32409279
Huh. Ok then!
>>
>[]Speak:Question

"Do you have a supply of metal?"

"Unfortunately, as is the case with our supply of stone, we do not have any significant supply of metal."

"If I can find someone to front me materials I may be able to start a quarry."

"Well, my friend, I think wood may give you enough for the structure of the mine, provided it is not too large. You are quite strong, perhaps some of the smaller trees in the area could provide supports for such a venture. There may be some mining equipment in town. I can ask around if you like, no one would be using it."
>>
>>32409345
Please do. Also, if there is anyone familiar with setting up a mine I would like them to teach us what they know.
>>
>>32409345
>mine
Replace that with quarry.

Going to call it for the night at that post. I may need to begin starting at an earlier time during these weekdays. Participation was a little down today. Well, usual stuff. Going to be here to field questions. Thanks for playing everyone.
