Ragyo stands over her desk, hands firmly planted atop it while she waits.

The elevator opens with a ding as Nui skips out. "You wanted to see me?"

Ragyo removes her hands from the desk and straitens her back. She takes a deep breath. "Yes. What have you been doing to Fate?"

"Ooooh? Whatever do you mean?" Nui asks, sounding mischievous.

"Eye color."

"Hmm?"

"Fate's eye color is brown, or grey, depending on the amount of life-fibers exposed to him, as well as the duration. Today, when he came back, they were purple."

"Weeeeell," Nui says, putting her hands behind her back and leaning forward. "You said I needed to take more control over him, so I did!"

"Do you have any idea how much damage you've just dealt to him?"

"Wha-"

Ragyo pivots on her heel. "Frankly, Fate seems to be more powerful than I had previously assumed. He's somehow managed to survive the level of stress you've put on his mind with the mind-link today. How far did you go?"

"I-I, wha-"

"How. Far."

"Fully, I went fully inside his mind."

Ragyo walks around her desk and takes a seat, putting her elbows on the desk and her forehead in her hands. "You've failed me, so many times, Nui. I told you to reign him with minor emotional manipulation. I had thought you would be subtle, and smart, enough to accomplish this, even with your previous failures. Yet, still, you show the same repeated result."

"How!?! He took it, you said he's stronger than you previously thought! His affinity increases exponentially, every day! You just doubt him!"

Ragyo looks up, angry. "Fine then, you've risked his life to prove a point. He's alive, and has shown no outward signs of mental instability, but lets look at this in a new light, shall we?"

It's possible Nui is withholding information from her.
What i take from this is that Nui seems to want Fate as a puppet while Ragyo wants to use him for something.

"Fate's body and nervous system may have been able to withstand your modifications, his mind was in no way to accept the level of behavioral modification you've imposed on him. If theory proves correct, the alterations will be incomplete, and a mind filled with holes and paradoxes is in no way controllable, or useful." Then, a smile spreads across her face. Slowly, she stands, running a finger across the desk while walking towards Nui, hips swaying.

Nui is still and silent, looking in thought.

"Though if you insist on breaking your toy, Nui... you wouldn't mind if I played with him, would you?"

Nui's eyes immediately dart to Ragyo.

"But he's mi-"

Ragyo is upon her, gripping her wrists. "Actually, when was the last time we played together, Nui?"

Nui once again goes silent.

"Maybe this mistake isn't such a bad thing after all, though. I've always been somewhat jealous of you, being able to have such a wonderful thing to wear such as Fate. How perfect he is for you... and how you always rip him apart. Since you've proven you don't care too much... you wouldn't mind if I borrowed him for a bit?"

Nui shakes under Ragyo. "He's mine..." she says, almost inaudibly.

"What has that?"

"H-he's mi-"

The elevator doors ding open.

"Nui," you say, walking out, "something felt wrong, are you alright?" And then you see Ragyo, standing over a frightened Nui.

"What?" is all you can work out. The problem is your mind holds all your memories, all those memories of building hate, and fear, and rage... and those feelings are gone. Their missing. There's a broken part of the circuit, preventing you from properly conducting thought, Nui's orders stand firmly wedged between what is supposed to be, what should happen, and what you're going to do.

Replaced by the pure rage you are supposed to feel, what has replaced you lashing out in fury to Ragyo, is confusion. You're supposed to hate Ragyo, this is supposed to make you snap, your love for Nui should, even if you previously didn't want nothing more than to tear Ragyo's head from her body, your sloppy mental re-write doesn't allow that to happen.

Your face feels wet. You put a finger to it, and when you pull away you see blood. You're bleeding from your nose. You don't ever get nosebleeds.

The room starts spinning, you can't keep yourself balanced. You collapse on the ground, while Nui screams. She struggles in Ragyo's grasp before she lets go, watching as she runs to your side.

Ragyo's heels click as she walks to the elevator. "It seems I was right," she says smugly. She enters the elevator. "Nui, I am not going to stop him from doing whatever it is he wants tomorrow. If any permanent damage is inflicted upon him, it will be on your shoulders." Ragyo turns around, and pushes a button. "I hope you remember, I always know best." The doors start to close.

"I-I can fix him!"

Ragyo's arm shoots out, stopping the doors. "No, more interference could snap him completely. In order to be safely fixed, he needs to resist on his own. And it is very, very unlikely that will ever happen."

Ragyo removes her arm from in between the doors, and they quietly shut, leaving Nui cradling your head in her arms in the dim lights of Ragyo's office.

Your father sits on a speed boat, looking rather unhappy. He doesn't like wearing this damn Nudist armor, not one bit. His suit was much better, but his suit also had life-fibers. They freaked out worse than the time he smuggled a suitcase full of "evidence" (cocaine) out of a police station. The big man with the pauldrons, former /tg/ member, obviously completely crazy from PTSD, wanted nothing more than to rip Satoru's guts out, but he's valuable, they all know he's valuable.

Satoru looks at Patton, who stares with furious intensity. With him is Mohawk McJobber, the man outsmarted by a shirt. Your father smirks a bit when he looks at him. All that's left in this speedboat is the driver, who is mighty fine-looking.

Being in a straitjacket, it is somewhat difficult to cop feels of people, but your father, ever the thinker, manages.

He slams his cheek into hers. She yelps, and steers. The speedboat next to her's barely manages to dodge.

Patton jerks your father away, furious.

Satoru shrugs. "The consistency felt a bit off, implants, maybe?"

"I thought you were only into elves."

"Your definition of 'elf' is Ragyo and Nui. Knowing this I can wholeheartedly tell you I do NOT have a fetish for elves."

"There's more than them, they're just the ones open about it right now."

"Suuuuuuuure buddy, sure."

Rat dad is actually tall and thin. Typically he's got his hair slicked back in a poor attempt to look suave. Brown eyes, and a smile like a dirty bastard.

He's also a bit like Fate, he's known for stirring up a shitstorm and bolting in the chaos.

Seeing no one will answer your dad's question, Mohawk sighs and closes his eyes. Perfect.

"He wanted to see you, and we are obligated to bring you to him."

Satoru stops struggling briefly. "... Really? Shit."

Mohawk opens one eye and stares. "Do you really think you can get out of that straitjacket? It's completely foolproof, designed by Nudist scientists specifically to keep you detained."

"Is that fucking so? I couldn't tell," Satoru says, struggling. Your father lets out an exasperated breath, and looks down. He thinks for a moment, before springing up. "Hey, wanna see a magic trick?"

Mohawk looks.

"Look, ma, no hands." Satoru lifts up his sleeves to show that his hands don't come out of it.

It was established that now Fate can control up to 40 humans at the time. Can this control be used on Rats and does their small size allow control over larger quantities? Say a swarm of hundreds of rats? I use rats as an example cause I get a kick out of the rat theme Fate has.

Since you asked if I was planning something. I can say that I definetly might be.
>>
>>32497208
Rat willpower doesn't work the same way as human.
They can get smarter with life-fibers, but other than that, they have not too much direction other than just survival.
Unlike humans, rats aren't difficult to overpower.

But I actually had a few ideas for that.
Keep it in mind when fighting, say, Uzu.

But that might be for next thread as this one seems to be Saturo's. Whoops.

Satoru throws off his jacket, watching it get swept off and float on the ocean waves. Though, admittedly, the cold ocean winds are particularly biting when wearing a Nudist outfit. This may not have been a fantastic idea.

"So, Mohawk, what in it for you in all this?"

"The destruction of life-fibers and the saving of humanity."

"No, I mean smaller scale. What do you get for bringing me here?"

"Continued funding."

"Shit, you need SPONSORS!?! You idiots need to learn how to scam!"

The caravan of speedboats goes into a tunnel in the front of the cruise ship. The tunnel quickly closes behind them.

Lights turn on with a clack, and the room is illuminated as the water drains out of the room, until the boats are touching the ground.

Men in lavish clothing soon surround the speedboats. Saturo, seeming to accept it all, steps off the ship.

"Well, lets meet the god." Your father looks resigned, but everyone remains wary. He has a reputation, after all.

On his way to the top of the ship, he is lead through plenty of the luxurious and magnificent rooms. Kitchens, ball rooms, pools filled with gold coins, an entire gold course. Saruro feels no guilt for having ever ripped the god off.

And then, they were there, at a large room made of fine stone and lined with gold.

"Leave us," the god says, dressed in beautiful furs, standing with his back turned, looking out to the deck, and beyond that, the ocean, from the window.

Patton isn't having it. "No fucking way, fuck that, I-"

"He said leave," one of the well dressed men says with a calm, but threatening, voice.

Patton turns to look the man in the face, but a hand claps down on his pauldron. Tsumugu stares into Patton's rage filled eyes. "Come on."

"Fuck he's going to get away."

"To where?"

"Anywhere, he's got elf-tricks up his sleeves."

"I don't have time for your conspiracies."

"I, however, have plenty of time. Time is money, after all. But I'd prefer you not be too wasteful, for this moment," the god says.

The men leave. Only two stand in the room, both know well the flow of money, both know how it can pull people.

You know this might sound like Heresy but I enjoy this quest more than anaru's. So thanks for writing this!
>>
>>32498165
Only question I really have is': What is Anaru's status in this continuity? If he had resurrected that would have been the focus at Kiryuin meeting instead of Phoenix Regalia. Is Anaru ded, dormant or rose from his grave later?

On another note I'm hoping we could at some point go check up on the trap master who is currently squatting in our sewer pad. There are couple things I'd have her make just in case.

Also, lastly. Thanks for running a great thread. Much dread was had at the start and it was good to see Rat dad again.
>>
>>32498165
So is Fate going to stroke out every time he gets into a situation where Nui's orders conflict with his memories?
I thought being so scared of Ragyo that we'd attack on sight was bad but now we just keel over on sight. The same thing should happen if we see Satsuki or dad too.
>>
>>32498262
someone floated that this is an AU where anaru is perma kill & Fate is a little more messed up, either that or Fate is just plain more crazy in this AU.
>>
>>32498339
At this point I think we're officially crazy enough for the rest of the quest to be a mad delusion.
>>
>>32498289
Well, Ragyo is... well...
See, when something directly and harshly conflicts with our memory and mind, it'll cause a problem.
Ragyo molesting Nui does that. Hell, seeing Ragyo is be difficult, but that is fucking explosive. And his orders were do not hate. They were sloppy orders.

If Satsuki were to attack Nui, similar results would occur.

>>

So Fate's gone full "BEEP BOOP ERROR ERROR DOES NOT COMPUTE DANGER WILL ROBINSON" when it comes to Nui's orders?
>>
>>32498339
I honestly don't know how far apart the universes were.

I would've split the timeline at Naturals Election, but Fate didn't exactly look seven days beat up, so...

There's also something interesting, that Fate was closer to my original idea to what Fate was going to be.

Fate was going to be someone who looked up to Anaru, but lived in his shadow. He would've been told by Nui to climb the ranks of the school. When he gets into some position of power, he would feed Nui information. Why do you think he was "the rat"? He's the rat in Satsuki's plan, the meaning has just changed a bit.

The conflict of that quest would've been Fate's strange and growing obsession with Nui, and his respect for Anaru.

Of course, nothing would ever go Fate's way, and the marriage would've still happened, but I'm not so sure on the killer-training part.

Whatever, just what could've been.
>>
>>32498565
Funny thing is that in their respective AU's both Anaru and Fate have become robots in a way. Anaru has lost his body and stuck in an artifial frame, whereas Fate has lost his mind and has been reprogrammed to fit Nui's intentions.
>>
>>32498697
There's quite a bit of duality between the two.
I love the relationships in the quests. I love to see how they flow, how they change, how they work out.

Frankly, I love everything in these quests, from the philosophizing, to the theorizing, to the storytelling. Most fun I've had possibly ever.
>>
Well, I'm going to bed.

If the thread is still up tomorrow, I might pick up where I left off.

Either way, see you tomorrow.
>>
So. I came up with an idea to combat the effects of Fate's mindfuck. Inspired by Hotline Miami.

Placebo effect. We ask Nui to make us bunch of masks that each alter our personality to correspond what it used to be. They don't have to work, Nui only has to say they do. Our love to Nui is so strong, our trust in her absolute that our sick and contradictionary mind will make it work. She would not lie to us. She would not deceive us. If she says these masks work then it is true to Fate.

TL;DR: True love conquers all.
>>
>>32500507
That's far from what I'd call "true love"
>>
>>32500528
Unhealthy manic obsession works too.

"Any viable escape methods in here?" your father asks.

"Oh, you know me," the Dosh God speaks. "I can always cater to any guest."

Turning around, it reveals the magnificent and terrifying features of someone who knows money well spent.

Vibrant orange hair. A massive, ugly smile of platinum teeth, studded with diamonds for chewing through the toughest of luxury food. His eyes are milky-white with no pupil, merely a symbol of currency he has chosen. For Saturo, a man who made his fortune mainly of the USD, two green $s have been chosen to stare through him.

The furs on his back were of an endangered and incredibly rare species of tiger, and that one also happened to have been albino. His suit is only of the finest materials. A perfect combination to custom-fit fine comfort, and not a scrap of life-fibers in it. Instead, the weapon of the clothing is concealed underneath, a gilded power-suit, an experimental technology that puts the power of the machine at the hands of a human, secret military-prototype grade equipment.

Saturo has nowhere to run, here. He's naked and out in the open. There's no cards up his sleeves as he threw his only source of sleeves into the ocean. And he doesn't shove anything up his ass, he isn't depraved OR despirate enough for that.

There's a key for every lock, an escape for every situation. And Saturo puts the artist with escape.

Everyone here knows it's only a matter of time.

Saturo claps his hands together. "Well, lets get this meeting started!"

Across from him, the Dosh God claps his hands, releasing a massive boom. Some of the glass bits from the chandelier above burst. The massive glass windows, however, show no signs of damage. Guess breaking those isn't an option.

"ROYTO, the reason I've brought ya' here is cos oi need ansas!"

"Ask away, old chap, bib pip and dipper," your father responds with a crazed look and mad smile.

A wad of cash shoots out of the god's sleeve. He spreads them with a trained thumb and fans himself with it. Another fires out of his other sleeve, speeding towards Saturo, who expertly catches it, and turns it over in his hands.

"Well, ain'tcha hot? Oi got the whole damn ship heated tah 30 Celsius so I got a reason tah do this!"

"I'm afraid I'm practically NAKED! In the outfit of a NUDIST, you see. A new suit would be a lovely thing, and a great excuse for fanning myself with one of your marvelous loads of money."

The god pulls out a megaphone from seemingly nowhere. Saturo's eyes widen before he rolls away, covering his ears.

"GET ME GUEST A DAMN SUIT, YA GITS, A'FORES I HAVE TAH DECK 'IM IN ME OWN CLOAK!!!"

Saturo turns to look at where he once stood. The doors are blown apart, the damage to the hallway beyond is likely severe.

"Ah, yeah, they's very strange ones, aren't they? The Nudists? But the uniforms are cheap. Not that oi'm lookin' fah cheep, but i's what they wont."

An awkward silence fills the air.

"Dear lad," your father says. "Shouldn't we, er, be talking?"

"No talks until you're at the table, not about anything important, anyway."

"Alright then."

...

"It's a very nice ship you have."

"I's powered by throwin' LOADS A MONEY inna a boila'."

"Steam powered?"

"MONEY POWA'D!!!"

The suit arrives shortly. It is likely an extremely expensive piece, as it fits flawlessly. The black tuxedo seems fitting on Satoru, along with the dress shoes. It's big-business attire.
