You glance from the ethereal dragon to the dead god, contemplating for a moment. Both of these options are terrible. One involves possibly reawakening a dragon to go on a rampage across the surface, the other involves possibly selling your soul or at the very least driving yourself further into insanity thanks to the meddling of a long since forgotten deity. You don't want to be somebody's puppet. You don't like the idea of being forced to do either of their bidding.

The central figure looms closer, until you would be eye to eye if only the figure had eyes at all. It extends a bony hand towards you, grasping yours in a handshake. Its hand is startlingly cold, to the point that just being in contact seems to burn. When he pulls his hand away you glance at your palm, half expecting to find it rotting or marked by some symbol, but much to your surprise it's as normal as can be.

You find yourself once more in the cavern, in the hiding place where you've wedged yourself. The cultist are in an uproar, rushing towards the central platform where only a moment before the priest was standing. He's fallen to the ground, the smoke that leaked from his mouth vanished. You note that the ground is shaking violently, and at first you think you might have woken Mama Dragon, but you realize that it is that same rumbling that has been shaking the mine since you channeled vys into the heart. Except now it's much stronger. Now it seems as though it may bring down the whole mine on top of you.

You push yourself forcefully out of your hiding place, turning on the ball of your foot and sprinting as fast as you're capable away from here. You take a flying leap up the slope you had to slide down to reach this degenerate pit and haul yourself up forcefully, your armor's environmental seals activating as you do so. You're halfway across the main chamber, leaping over puddles of lava and ducking past pillars of stone, when the earth is split by a roar unlike anything you've ever heard. Stone is shaken from the ceiling and your hearing is reduced to a high pitched, painful ringing. You think it might have burst your ear drums.

You spare a glance over your shoulder, perhaps not your wisest move. Apparently the stirring of her husband must have woken Mama Dragon, and she doesn't seem too happy about it either. She's pushed herself to her feet and her massive jaws are opened wide enough you'd think they'd come unhinged. You feel a distinct sinking feeling in your gut as she pushes herself to her feet, the stone that seems to form the chamber warping and shifting to accommodate her massive size. You imagine it will only be a few moments before her brood comes rushing in to see what pissed her off.

You grab hold of the stone spire you caught yourself on when you first entered the nest and haul yourself up the sloped pathway. You very nearly lose your footing but it takes only a touch of vys to stabilize yourself and you use a little earth magic to make the path easier to climb. Before you know it, you're flying over the ledge and back into the tunnel you entered through. You're not sure if the mother noticed you, but you're positive that the bastard standing in front of the exit has.

You slip past him quickly, but instead of just sprinting ahead you duck behind a rocky outcrop, channeling some vys to allow you the flexibility necessary to compress yourself behind the rocks. You don't hear the beat of the dragon's wings but you feel the rush of air and see it rocket past. Gods above, there is no way you could outrun that thing. Fortunately you won't have too, it's chasing nothing. Once it turns sharply out of sight further down the tunnel you set off again, feet pounding against stone.

You suddenly become aware of the voices screaming into the back of your head as you round the next corner and the imminent fear of death begins to fade. You'd thought they were merely your own panicked thoughts at first, but now you can pick out the distinct voices of your companions. You don't really have time to chat at the moment, so you simply block the connection and focus on running. They'll know you're okay soon enough. Hopefully.

After sprinting nonstop for several minutes you're winded, your lungs burn for air, and your head is swimming. You stop to catch your breath, and glancing up you note that you're not that far from the offshoot tunnel which leads back to the generator room. Your dragon egg should be up there. However... something is off. You don't know what it is, but the air just feels charged for some reason. It makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end and fills you with a deep sense of unease.

Also these are late game goals.

You glance around the tunnel, paranoia locking you in only momentary indecision. Reaching into your cloak you withdraw your nature staff and swing it in front of you, channeling vys into the artifact and watching the green light spill out of the carved dragon's head at the top. It cast the tunnel into the generator room in green light, highlighting four figures in particular. One of them seems barely alive, only wisp of green remaining. The others are still, but alive. Perhaps unconscious, perhaps trapped.

What grabs your attention is the figure beyond, limping its way slowly away from the other four. In his hands he carries a massive ovoid shape, quite a bit larger than your head. You recognize it as the egg you dug out of the stone. Somebody else is running off with it. Somebody else, after all the shit you've put up with, intends to rob you blind and leave you stranded at the bottom of a mine, desperately trying to revive your friends.

A flash of white hot rage momentarily blinds you to the pain in your lungs and the ache in your legs. It banishes the ringing in your ears and alleviates the lethargy and depression beginning to infect you. You quickly close the distance between you and the tunnel, leaping up to grab hold of the ledge and pull yourself up. You find that the hole you'd broken in the ground has been covered by black rock.

Proceeding further into the cavern, you find Profectus unconscious and bleeding on the floor. His chest is cut to shit and his leg looks broken. Further ahead you find Fulvia's body, the hatch on the back of her neck open and her core sitting on the floor next to it. Chryssa and Darzi are next, both frozen stock still on the ground, paralyzed. You slip into the shadows as you approach the mouth of the cavern, only to see a man struggling his way up the walkway toward the bulkhead door. An arrow protrudes from his leg, blood covers his right arm, and a massive scab covers his back where something slashed him.
