"TCH!" You let concern cloud your judgment as you tug the scarf down, no longer allowing it to cover your mouth and muffle your cries.

"SANAGEYAMA!" You shout, trying to maintain the facade as you sprint towards Satsuki with all your strength. "Pincer maneuver, zone Lima-Echo-Foxtrot-Tango, strike field five meters-"

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!" He cries out in confusion.

"FUCK UP HIM UP!" You shout back.

Uzu grabs his shinai and throws it at Takarada, who hardly bats an eye as it bounces harmlessly off his armor. It gets his attention, however, and you slip on by as he turns to face Uzu.

You reach out to Satsuki and she takes your hand, leaning on you for support as you lift her up.

"Thank you," she says. Her eyes linger on your face for just a little too long, and you look away. You can't respond, or she'll know.

"GYAAAAAH!"

Uzu is launched into the air by a swipe of Takarada's claw, and that sets you off. You leave Satsuki where she stands and rush the arrogant rich boy, obvious as all hell moving within his line of sight. He turns his attention to you and grins.

"I HAVE MORE MISSILES!" He shouts.

"GOTTA COMPENSATE SOMEHOW!" You yell back.

He does that warcry thing again and fires the barrage...but not at you.

He fires at Satsuki.

Seriously, this guy just can't leave her alone? Your anger flares up and you forget yourself.

You abandon your cautious behavior.

You lash out with a strike to end all others, and you're too loud...

"HEAVEN'S GLORIOUS THUNDER!"

Satsuki's eyes widen. The aviators fly off your face.

Takarada's eyes open and his mouth opens in an endless shriek of fear.

"FOUR HORSEMEN! WAR!"

BAM! Your first punch sends a glorious shining shockwave throughout his armor, generating cracks all along the surface.

"FAMINE!"

You swing your leg with lightning speed, sending out a blast of compressed air powerful enough to shatter each of his legs.

Ryuuko watches from afar.

Takarada's crablike form floats in midair, the world around you slowed as you flow into the next strike. Satsuki's eyes continue to widen.

"PESTILENCE!"

You hit the ground and slide beneath your enemy, quickly bringing your legs together and pointing them up...directly at Takarada's metal underbelly.

Then you push off the ground with tremendous force, kicking him high into the air. The cracks on his armor expand, and you land on your feet.

You're prepared for the finisher, when...

"ANIKI!"

You turn to look behind you, fully aware that your short-lived time alone was now over. There they are once again, always within view. Always on your mind, never far from your heart.

Kiryuuin Satsuki and Matoi Ryuuko.

And Matoi Ryuuko is running faster than she ever has, straight for you.

"ANIKIIIIIIII!"

"Hold that thought," you growl, glaring up at the helpless Takarada as the boy ragdolls in midair.

And once again you tap into power unknown, leaping into the sky to meet him.

You rise above him, behind him, beyond him.

And you grab his metal shell, your face leaning in dangerously close to his.

"WHAT THA BLOODY 'ELL-?!"

"Have you ever been suplexed before, moneybags?"

"N-n-no?!"

"FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING!" You shout, rotating around to stare straight at the ground.

At your friends, and your lover.

Those whom you fight to the ends of the Earth for.

"DEAAAAAAAAAAAATH!"

And you fall like a sacred comet, stars flowing behind you. An energy released that no Uniform, not even your Five-Star, could possibly emit.

You slam into the ground and erupt in a ball of star-spangled flame, shattering what remains of the buildings around you and sending flaming chunks of metal into the sky.

"Aniki?! ANIKI!"

Ryuuko's cries can hardly pierce the roaring flame as she seeks to find you, scanning the ruination with Satsuki at her side.

The flame then parts, and you ascend from the crater with Takarada in tow.

I notice that the character of Anaru is constructed in such a way as to avoid the most irritating of Ryuuko's character arcs; the I'm a Life Fibre Monster one. Is this a sign that teh whole crummy Sastuki/Anaru/Ryuuko romance drama will be executed excellently?

Unsatisfied, Satsuki pokes Takarada's face with her sheathed Bakuzan, greatly enjoying the way his face squishes up as she does so.

"Your days of aiding our enemies are over," she says menacingly. "Sanageyama, remove this fool from my sight."

"Yes ma'am!"

Uzu carries the humiliated Takarada away, and you're left standing there with Ryuuko and Satsuki, surrounding by burning wreckage.

You sigh and can't bring yourself to look at either of them, staring instead at the damage that was done.

"Hehe!"

You're surprised by that sound, the sound of Ryuuko giggling. Quite frankly, you're surprised you haven't been punched yet. Or yelled at.

You turn your gaze back to them, and that's when she wraps her arms around you.

Satsuki.

Your Satsuki.

"I'm sorry," she breathes into your shoulder. You pry her away and look down into her eyes, pained.

"Why are you apologizing? You have nothing to be sorry for, it was me...everything that happened, I-"

"Oh, knock it off already." Ryuuko says, clonking you on the head with her knuckles. "We already did a lot of talking about it on the way over here. Granted, you two still got a LOT to work out, but..."

She sighs, and looks at you with the saddest face you've ever seen. She's smiling, but you know it is a strained effort.

"I wanted...I don't know, I just..."

"You don't have to say anything," you whisper.

There's a light blush on those cheeks and again, you're reminded of just how indescribably beautiful Ryuuko is. But...

You place a hand on her shoulder, smiling gently.

"Let's go home, nee-chan."

She perks up immediately. "Yeah! Let's-"

A missile lands right on top of your position, sending the three of you flying away with the resulting fireball!

Your body slams into a steel girder, pain spiking inside. Everything aches like hell as you struggle to raise your head, watching helplessly as Satsuki and Ryuuko struggle to their feet.

Remnants of Takarada's forces begin to surround the three of you, launching a nearly endless barrage of missiles and the like in your direction.

"Transform," you choke out, pleading at them with your eyes. "TRANSFORM!"

"We can't!" Ryuuko yells back, running over to you with Satsuki right behind her, both of them pulling you to your feet as soon as they arrive. As they're dragging you to safety, you notice the needles in both of their arms.

...and immediately recall an occasion from far in the past, in which a mysterious "teacher" impaired your motor functions with needles...

"Is it those?" You ask, nodding to the offending pieces of metal. Satsuki nods briefly, continuing to scan the area as bombs continue to fly.

"ALL GLORY TO SATSUKI-SAMAAAAAAA!"

You know that voice. You definitely know that voice!

Out of nowhere, a series of Honnouji Academy vehicles roar onto the scene, returning fire ten times over.

And standing on top of one such vehicle, a massive tank in particular, is Gama-fucking-goori, with Mankanshoku Mako riding on his shoulders!

"BY YOUR LEAVE, MANKANSHOKU!"

Mako, her face stuffed full of food, points at the rebellious citizens with a toothpick. "OHBEN FIYAH!"

At last the attacks that were focused on you three are redirected, and you catch a brief respite at the foot of a ruined skyscraper.

"We need to retreat," Satsuki hisses through her teeth. You can tell it wounds her pride to say that, but it's the right choice.

"Let's go," you mumble. The two most precious to you nod their heads and help you back on your feet...right as a multitude of explosions scatter along the skyscraper.

More explosions, rockets and missiles and all manner of explosives driving the building down further. You're seeing splotches of black in your vision, the wounds on your body still oozing crimson.

Uzu returns along with Nonon and Gamagoori, and even Inumuta shows up to help!

"Hold on!" The data-master cries out. You laugh, and by god, it is the most painful experience of your entire life.

"...get them...OUT OF HERE!"

"Anaru!" Satsuki shouts, struggling as Gamagoori drags her away.

"This is really heavy," you chuckle, smiling sadly.

"No, NO! UNHAND ME, GAMAGOORI!"

"I cannot, Satsuki-sama."

She stares at you through tear-filled eyes, the building slowly inching down further and further. A particularly nasty explosion shakes the entire foundation and brings you crashing down on one knee. The whole thing threatens to give away at any moment.

"Nee-chan," you gasp out, one eye closed. It takes the combined strength of Inumuta and Uzu to pull her away, and even then, they aren't coming away clean. She thrashes like a true warrior, fighting and clawing her way back to you...but it's not nearly enough.

"Keh...human for a day, and that's it...probably...wasn't even a full day, huh? Should've skipped the drinks...hehe..."

"Come with us," she sobs, reaching for you with one hand.

"I want to," you choke out. "I really, really want to. Ryuuko, don't..."

The building shakes.

You make your way to Ryuuko's quarters and, knocking only once, enter without waiting for a response. You know you'll find her in her room, same as always.

She's there in her usual spot, the windowsill. Sitting in nothing more than her bra and underwear, wrapped up in a shirt too large for her.

You recognize that shirt. One of his.

Sighing, you move to the bed and sit down, watching her with a look of concern. How strange life has become, that you should soften your heart while Ryuuko hardens hers.

Is this what it felt like to be in your presence? Is this what it felt like to face you, suffer at your hand, to fight you? It is a coldness unlike any you could comprehend, and you completely understand it.

That is why it hurts.

"We have a meeting," you say.

No response. Typical. You shuffle your feet and brush away some rebellious strands of hair.

"We need you right now, Ryuuko. It will only take a moment, and then you can return."

Silence. You sigh with frustration, hands clutching the sheets you're sitting on.

"It's about the reports. We've found Anaru."

Ryuuko turns her head to look at you, then, and the glare is something fearsome. Something anyone else would have cowered before.

"Don't joke about that shit," she mutters, returning her gaze to the water below.

"I'm not joking, I'm-"

"Lying?"

You sigh again, rising to your feet.

"I thought you'd perk up. I guess I was wrong."

"I guess you were."

She doesn't say anything further, so you make your way to the door. Before stepping through you turn your head back, watching as she stares out the window.

"We'll find him. Even if I have to rip this world apart, tearing it open at the seams...we will find him."

Ryuuko scoffs, running a hand through her lengthy hair. "If he was alive, he'd have found us."

You say nothing further and leave the room, eyes downcast.

"It's time, m'lady."

"I am ready," you mumble. "There is nothing more that can be taken from me."

Soroi pats your hand, and the rest just comes spilling out. You ignore Iori's presence entirely and focus only on your faithful servant and friend.

"There was this...emptiness in my life that could not be filled by anyone else. Something I didn't even know was there."

You chuckle quietly, running a hand through your hair.

"You cannot miss something you never experienced. Is that not correct? And so here I am, having experienced something wonderful...something that gave me hope and even a fleeting sense of joy..."

You wrap your arms around yourself and shut your eyes, withdrawing.

"...and I miss it!" You whisper. "I miss him."

Soroi opens his mouth to speak, but...

Your hands fly to the armrests on your chair, gripping them ferociously.

"Aww, won't you at least say 'hi' to me? Last time we played we didn't say goodbye on good terms, so I volunteered to come pick you up!"

"Harime Nui," you growl angrily. A giggle sounds over the intercom. The helicopter is silent for a time, then static.

"Is Fate okay?"

You look visibly shaken by her sudden question, and the other two in the compartment notice it. You must tread carefully around this topic to avoid upsetting her, but at the same time, you can't exactly lie. You can't take the chance that she is testing you, perhaps even aware of Fate's condition somehow.

"He hasn't been well since your...falling out," you begin apprehensively, "but he has been improving recently. He is lucid and eating well, though still not one for extended conversation."

"Maybe that's just you?" Nui replies quietly.

You shrug, even though you know she can't see you. "Yeah...perhaps it is. Even after what you two have done, what you've put each other through...I am certain he would talk your ears off if he saw you."

The flight continues in silence.
