You are Anthony Grant and you are running for your life.

You are being chased.

You turn around to see the massive, four legged structure running away from you.

The crenelated iron legs take steps away from you, yet it gets closer and closer. Its brass tail swipes back and forth like a pendulum.

Your legs become heavy and sluggish. You are stuck.

The four legged monster rushes past you, its metal carapace clinks as it moves past.

You are now face to face with the creature. A heavy iron shell forms the head of a dog. A large, gold crown sits between its two ears. Two eyes aflame look at you. You hear the sound of metal clanging from within, like the beat of a heart mixed with the sound of a forge. It opens its mouth and the smell of copper and ash presses itself against you.

The pillars of teeth surround you and it touches your armor. The metal bits crack and break and bleed.

Gold coins pour from your armor. You swing your mace and it shatters against the pillars, turning into a hail of gold.

The teeth crowd around you, pick you up, and fling you.

You fly through the air before you crash into the floorboards of the BRO.

You stare at the ceiling for a while before you realize the land-ship is not moving. You jump to your feet, push the door open, and see Trove singing and clapping for a dancing Canis and Aideen.

“Yarr!” Trove announces when he notices you, “The ship be needin' water, Cap'n.”

You look around. It is late at night, but you don't feel like you got much sleep. You spot Tabula using his water sprite to fill the tank up.

“Did we pass anyone while I was asleep?” You ask.

“We haven't seen another racer in miles. Yarr.”

You hear the sound of boots on metal coming from the ladder of the ship. You look to it just in time to see Judicature appear. She holds up a hand, as if to say hi. You instinctively hold up your hand in response. She slaps her palm against yours.

“You're in.” She says.

You look a bit puzzled until you see her hop into the bed behind you. You close the door slowly and quietly. You look to your crew. You have a couple minutes to kill.

“Tabula!” You call out, “Status report!”

The elf is currently stranding next to the exhaust pipe when he turns to you. “All's quiet on the western front!” He replies.

You get closer to the manliest elf you know and ask, “Anything wrong with the ship?”

“Not much.” Tabula responds, “Except for these.” He tosses white bits in your direction. They clamor onto the wooden deck until they lay still. In the darkness of the night you have to get quite close to identify them.

More teeth attached to some kind of red, fleshy fiber as well as some bones. “Where did you find these?” You ask.

“Everywhere.” He responds. “Found some on the gears down below. Found some on the deck. Found one when I opened up the boiler!”

“Heard of anything like it before?”

He drags his fingers across his chin. “Not sure.”

“You're not sure?” You ask, “What's that supposed to mean?”

“Never heard of something like this in the game, certainly haven't heard of something like this in the real world, but it does sound like the kinda thing you find in B horror movie.”

“So, what happens in the movies?”

“Well, they're B horror, so generally everyone dies in contrived and stupid way.”

“Like...?”

“Really depends on the monster.”

You take a moment to think, “Okay, well, what kind of monster could this be?”

“Well, that depends. Could be a spooky scary skeleton forming piece by piece. Could be that the ship is turning into a monster. Could be that we ran over an Indian burial ground and are now being haunted by malcontent ghosts. Hell, could just be your friend that you let on the ship started messing with things. Anything's possible, really.”

You think on all the possibilities. None of them seemed very possible, except for the last one.

The water sprite vanishes in a flash of light. “We're full.” Tabula says, “Ready to get going?”

You look around the deck. “Where is Takeshi?” You ask.

“Yarr! He said he needed to meditate.” Trove answers.

“The hell is that supposed to mean!?” Is your reaction.

This is when you hear someone climbing up the ladder. “I have returned.” Takeshi says once he reaches the top. His hat bobbles back and forth for a moment as he returns to his faux-mystic stance; balancing on one leg, one hand to his chest, and his other hand vertical and in between his eyes. “I have also strengthened the spirit of the machine as stated by the Samurai Code.”

You think about the statement for a moment and then something clicked. “You fed the ship our enemies?”

“Of course.” He responds, “According to the Samurai Code, it is the only honorable thing to do with the bodies of your enemies.”

You think you have found the source of the teeth.

“I thought I told you not to touch anything.” You say, “Ever.”

“I do not recall you saying that,” He says with a bow, “I am very sorry.”

You sigh and point to the port side of the ship. “Just go sit there and don't touch anything!”

He calmly goes to the spot pointed out and sits, going into a meditative stance, which you are quite sure he just made up.

You turn back to Tabula. “Get the engine running. We're heading out.”

You take a look at your map. There are a lot more mountains between you and the Mojave, but there is a long road that cuts through all of them. It runs along a river. It seems like the perfect path to take.

You start heading to the driver cabin, but then you turn back to the Wolf-fang. “Canis. Come here for a second.” You go into the small room with him.

You take a moment to look at the bare room. All it has is a chair and the levers. You sit in the chair. The sound of pressure building in the pipes hums along like a white noise.

“So,” You say to your best friend, “What's Aideen doing here?”

“Well,” The bard responds, “She let me put it in her butt, so I'm pretty sure she's the one.”

The two of you start laughing. “Okay, okay.” You say between the laughs, “But, seriously, what is she doing here?”

“First month's one of the most important part of a relationship. I can't just leave her can I?”

You think over his argument. “You have a point there.”

“Also she's a Lander.”

That statement takes a far longer time to process. “What!?”

“She's a L-”

“No, I heard you!” You cry out, “I just don't understand why!”

“Well, when a daddy NPC and a mommy NPC-”

“Stop it!”

“Okay, okay. I don't see what the big deal is.”

“The big deal is NPCs don't respawn! If she dies she's dead for good!”

“Why would she die?”

“Because... I don't know! What if a dragon attacks!”

“Oh no.” He responds with absolute sarcasm, “A dragon is attacking the heavily armored battleship on tank treads powered by a level ninety summoner. Whatever will we do?”

He did have a point. “I guess that makes sense.” You respond, “But isn't it still dangerous?”

“All good things in life are.”

You didn't like that answer, but it was probably none of your business. “Fine.” Is all you respond.

“Want to talk about anything else?” He asks.

“Not really. I should start driving anyways before pressure builds up too high.”

“Alright.” He responds, “I'll talk to you later, then.” He leaves the room and soon the sound of singing and dancing returns.

You push forward the gearshifts and the machine starts its movement forward. Slowly but surely you begin to reach higher and higher speeds. Your giant machine drives through the night, although it does so without any real light.

You are quite certain you have run over at least three trees before you see something in the distance.

A camp fire.

Next to the campfire is none other than the Swagtastic Swagmachine.

You let go of the gearshifts and open the door to the deck. The crew looks at you with worried looks. You go the the starboard side of the ship and at the top of your lungs you, you cry out, “SWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAG!”

You catch the eyes of a confused and then distraught Swagatron as you pass by their camp.

You quickly go back to the chair and alter the path of the BRO to keep it on the road.

You head the people outside burst into laughter, either for having no idea what just happened, or possibly for knowing exactly what just happened.

With all that excitement dying down in you, the night ride begins to feel boring. Just a constant trek through near-absolute darkness. After a while you wonder if you are even on the road anymore. Your nervousness dies down as the colors of dawn begin to fill the sky and you can see the road in front of you for once. That is when you notice a crumbling bridge in front of you, one that certainly can't hold the weight of the land-ship.

You get on deck. Looking around, everyone is still asleep, including Tabula. His fire elemental sits in the furnace, heating the boiler, which is not something you need right now.

“Hey!” You shout at the elf slumped over on the stairs, “I need you awake! We have a problem!”

The summoner does not respond.

You didn't have time for this so you slap him across the face. “Wake u-!” Your words are cut off by Tabula's fist slamming into your face.

He yawns quite loudly and looks in your direction. “Oh, sorry about that.” He says, “My old roommate used to do that. Old habits, I guess.”

You wanted to question his statement, but you just accepted it and moved on. “We're at a river and the bridge won't hold us. Can you freeze the water so we can cross?”

He takes another moment to yawn before rubbing his eyes and saying, “Yeah, should be simple for General Winter.”

You raise an eyebrow. “General Winter?”

The fire elemental disappears into a cloud of smoke and Tabula begins to stretch his back. “Yeah.” He says, “You get him near the Frozen City.”

The two of you make it onto the deck and then down in front of the river.

“So,” You ask, “What makes him so special?”

“Well, General Winter is a Russian folklore character,” He explains, “General Winter is more or less the personification of the hardships of war in Russia during the winter months.”

“So, he's like Russian Paul Bunyan or something?”

“Not really. Paul Bunyan was just a made up guy. General Winters is the personification of weather, so I guess he's not really a folklore character at all, but the reason he's called a general is because his army has caused the most casualties in every war in Russia.” He pauses for a moment. “At least that's what I've heard." Another pause. "But! All of that is secondary to why he is the best.”
>>
>>32643789
“Then why is he the best?” You ask.

A large circle appears on the ground and a huge man appears within. He wears a red coat and carries a massive sword. His hat looks to be of a white fur, just like his long beard.

“Because,” Tabula finally explains, “He's like a crazy barbarian Santa.”

You stare at the giant man. He certainly had Santa-like qualities, but the giant sword mostly underlined that statement.

“General!” Tabula says, “Freeze the river!”

The summon does not look to the elf.

He does not even acknowledge the summoner's existence.

The mighty giant touches his blade to the river and the water instantly freezes. The ice travels both up and down stream, going as far as you can see in either direction, and most likely continuing on past that.

The air around you began to feel cold. You could feel the cold slowly crawl through your body.

Then the general suddenly disappeared in a shower of snow.

“We should start moving.” Tabula say, “No idea how long the ice will last.”

You shake your head to knock yourself out of the initial awe. The two sprint back to your positions and you set the BRO in motion.

You hear the ice crack under the weight of the tank.

You continue to move forwards, knowing at any time the ice may break, but you are on the other side before you know it. It feels as if the entire river had been frozen solid, all the way down to the bottom. You wonder if that would have any kind of ecological impact. Perhaps. Perhaps not. You didn't know and you didn't care right now, you had a race to win!

You open the door to the deck. “I NEED MORE POEWR!” You shout, “Throw all the fire you can onto the boiler! Throw the coal into it too! Hell, break up the floor and throw that in! We need more speed!”

“Aye aye, Cap'n!” Trove responds.

You were actually talking to Tabula, but what the hell, fire's fire and you're gonna win this race!

You can hear wood planks being town up and heaped into the furnace. You could feel the machine slowly getting more and more speed. You could head the pipes ping as their internal pressure began to skyrocket. This speed. This was the speed BRO was meant to go. You could feel in inside you. This great speed will be unmatched by anything!

Those thoughts, however, began to dwindle as you began to realize that even at this speed you were still losing ground on the Big Gear. That fucking cat! Who let him go that fast!? Fuck him and his massive gear ratio!

You are just so angry right now! This is bullshit!

Is the King in Iron the Gazebo King?
>>
>>32645154
We are the King in Iron.
>>
>>32645184
You sure it's not Top Cat?
>>
>>32645218
He doesnt even have king in his name.
I'm more worried about GodKingFluffles.
Or the character actually called King.
>>
>>32645218
Is it not king fluffly?

I suspect it is the Gazebo. TinyFather has been driving us to advice our brother to leave with his sweetheart.
>>

Best twist.
>>
>>32645284
Yeah, my guess would be KingGazebo too.

You look at the Big Gear slowly fall beneath the horizon; it filled you with so much rage.

No.

No!

You refuse!

God willing, you will catch that cat!

You burst through the door and onto the deck. Only now you notice your classy-looking deck now has holes in it everywhere. This did not concern you right now, after all, burning the wood can only decrease the weight of the ship, and that will certainly boost your speed!

You stomp down to the boiler room. An overly excited Trove flings hand fulls of coal into the furnace.

“If we keep doing this,” Tabula shouts, “The internal pressure is going to break through the pipes heating the boiler!”

“Are you sure?” You ask Tabula.

Trove and you stare at the elf.

The summoner, in response, grasps at a beard no longer there, trying to think. “Well, I guess the pipes would actually be crushed, assuming the boiler doesn't burst first, but that would mean there's nowhere for the smoke to go but back out to us.”

“So what you're telling me is,” You pause a moment to choose your words carefully, “There is no real downside.”

“What!? That's not what I-”

It is too late. You have already placed your hand on the boiler. “Flames of Revenge!” You cast the spell upon the boiler, granting it a fiery aura. The entire thing is wrapped in flames.
>>
>>32645868
FUCK
>>
>>32645868
“Did... Did you just buff the boiler?” Tabula asks.

“Yes.” You respond.

“How long does it last?”

“20 minutes!”

“Of in game time?”

“No, real time!”

“So...” He pauses for a moment, “Eight hours our time.”

You shrug, “I guess.”

Tabula adjusts his glasses. “Interesting.”

“Yarr! Stop jibber jabbin' about and help me get more things to burn!” Trove interjects.

You look upon the burning boiler and know you have done a good job. You can feel the machine already increasing in speed.

You head up to the deck. The wind from all this speed deafens you. You make your way to the driver's room where things are far quieter. Inside you see Judicature concentrating on her job.

You want to talk to her, but you're not sure what to talk about.

Ask our lander about her past.

Canada.

Would the speed increase if there were more things to burn? Because we've got several human shaped coals readily available.

“So,” You begin, “How's it feel to be making history?”

She seems to take the question seriously, thinking it over in her head before responding. “I'm not sure. I feel exactly the same as I always do.”

“I... I see...” That was not the response you were expecting. “I mean, just the concept of making history, and being apart of this is amazing, right!?”

“I guess so.” She responds, eyes still on the road.

“Well, you're enjoying yourself on the BRO, right?”

“The BRO?”

“Big Red One. B-R-O. BRO!”

“Ohhhh! Yes. I'm enjoying myself.” She more sounds like she is giving an automated response, rather than a real one.

“I see.” You are running out of ways to start a conversation. “So, are your cavalry abilities working on ship?”

“No, I don't think so.” She replies, “I think it counts as a ship, so we'd need a sailor rather than a cavalier.”

“Well, that makes sense.” Nothing is working! There has to be something! “So...” You take a shot in the dark, “What do you think about Aideen?”

Her head perks up and she looks to you. “I like her.” She says, “She taught me a new song.”

“Oh?” You ask, “How does it go?”

“W-well, I don't remember it all...”

“Okay, well, how do the parts that you remember go?”

“Umm...” She looks back to the road and begins to sing.
>>
>>32646864
“In the village of Kilgory, there's a maiden young and fair.

“Her eyes shine like diamonds, she had long and golden hair.

“The horseman came a riding up to her father's gates, mounted on a pure-white stallion, and he comes at the strike of eight.

“Step it out Mary, my fine daughter,

“Step it out Mary, if you can,

“Step it out Mary, my fine daughter

“Step it out Mary, if you can,

“Step it out Mary, my fine daughter, show your legs to the country man.

Then she stops singing. “I don't remember anything after that, except the part where it goes...”

“I don't want your gold and silver!

“I don't want your house and land!

“I'm in love with a soldier, I have promised him my hand!

“But the father spoke up sharply, You will do as I command!

“You'll get married on a Sunday and you'll wear that wedding band!”

She smiles at you. Her singing still wasn't very good, but she seemed to enjoy it, so you smiled as well.

Eh. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Maybe it'll work on a smaller tank. Or a motorcycle. Or a helicopter.

Just in case TinyShep is playing any more games with us.

>TinyShep is playing many more games with us.

It is a possibility.

Would anyone else like to ask any questions?
>>
>>32647251
Wasn't Coyote tasked with stealing fire or something? I can't remember.
>>
>>32647400
See, that's what I'm thinking.

Maybe Coyote and Grinning Man are in cahoots or something.
>>
>>32647439
Coyote is gonna try and take the girl then? Doubt Canis will let that happen easily. Get himself killed in the process?
>>
>>32647503
Coyote IS the girl. Aideen suggested we get the map, which lead us directly to the grinning man.
>>
>>32647551
Oh yeah. Sorry. Getting pretty tired and not thinking straight. Yeah they gotta be working together or something.

The Sun and the Moon. Depending on the mythology, the Sun might be considered the big fire and the Moon the little fire

So Canis, the canine stole away Aideen, the little fire. Huh. All he needs to do now is steal the big fire. AKA Coyote.

>>
>>32648243

>>
>>32648266
Coyote would be down for anything if we offer to help feed the First Man XP to revive him.
>>
>>32641531
A bit late to be pointing this out but all dragons down to even the weakest ones in ET are capable of taking on lv 90 groups. TLDR dont fuck with dragons.
