Voiced Intro(Kudos to Voiceanon and Sonlee for this): http://vocaroo.com/i/s1Grk05b6F0v

Your name is Michael Dunkin, and you now work for the Inquisition. Previously you were a sergeant in the 291st Cadian Shock Troopers, but now you find yourself in the company of Inquisitor Christina Massey of the Ordos Xenos. After saving her life at the cost of your men and your life (the old one, at least), you've been officially proclaimed a dead hero and recruited into her retinue. Now, with your new life and future in her hands, you're tasked with looking after Christina's well being. And whatever else that entails.

Though initially more exciting, the Hive World of Sidonas appears to be a much larger, and more complicated, problem than Dwimos ever was. Tau pulse weaponry has somehow made it into the hands of gangers, causing more problems and dead arbites than usual. You meet another of Christina's contacts, Tiberius, and get the gist of the situation before returning to the ship and beginning to consult your notes. You also explain, in perhaps a bit too much personal detail, the last Border War you were in.

You stand from your seat and stretch, feeling one too many pops for your liking as you do so. Christina does the same, giving a dataslate one last look before placing it down.

“What time is it?” You ask, looking around for a clock.

“Late enough,” She says with a shrug. “Though I doubt we’ll be seeing the others for a while longer. Starting to regret your decision?”

“Not really. I found out last time what happens when you put Vincent and free time together.”

For her part Christina tries to hide her grin, but she doesn't do it very well.

“So THAT’S why I got such an earful from Melodi the other day,” She says in a teasing tone. “She went on and on about your carelessness with such expensive equipment. I agreed, of course, but I trust you're big enough to keep out of serious trouble.”

“I make the attempt, ma'am,” You tell her. “How well that works, though, tends to vary.”

“I don’t doubt it. Now, I’m thinking of getting something brought up for us. What would you like?” She asks, already retrieving her vox.

A free meal sounds good, but you get the feeling this is Christina's usual way of dealing with meals. And you doubt she normally has company.

"I think I'd like to cook you a nice meal," You tell her.

The Inquisitor's expression, you note, is one of pleasant surprise.

"A soldier AND a cook?" She asks. "Next you'll tell me you sing and dance."

"Uh..." You freeze, not sure if she'd been talking with Jeeves or Delmar. However, it seems she was simply taking a jab at you.

"Alright," She says. "Let's see what you can do."

"Yes, ma'am."

The halls are emptier than usual with everyone gone, but you don't pay it too much mind. You're more interested in what the hell you just got yourself into, and if you can actually pull it off.

You're probably just worrying too much. Besides, what's the worst that could happen?"

You find Jeeves in your room, dusting the bookshelf with a duster clutched in his teeth. Another slightly disconcerting thing you found different in your servant than other skull servitors is the fact that he has his jaw, and it moves when he speaks. Unless you're used to it, it can be just a little jarring.

Christina, however, simply greets him with a smile and a wave.

"A messy one, isn't he?" She asks him as you make your way into the kitchen.

"Oh, not at all!" Jeeves answers. "Master Dunkin is actually rather fond of doing my job for me. I do so try and tell him to allow me, but you see..."

"Any requests?" You call over your shoulder.

"Whatever your specialty is," Christina answers. "Just without the gunpowder and fragments."

"Coming right up."

You're pleased to note that Jeeves has managed to acquire basically everything you asked for. Not that you really asked for anything fancy; mainly just an extra spice or two you heard about. Taking a breath, you begin your work.

With Jeeves entertaining Christina you're free to concentrate on the problem at hand. With utensils in hand and apron tied in place, you begin to cautiously go about fixing a meal for the two of you.

You only got to try it a few times before, but a nice grox with a side of fried vegetables is about as high class as you can currently get. You think about finding a cooking book later in case you find yourself cooking for her or anyone else. You doubt a ration bar would win any friends outside of the Guard.

You only nearly burn yourself a handful of times, and before long you've got two steaming plates in hand. The table and chairs you acquired to play Regicide also work as a dining table for two, and you can't help but smile when you see the Inquisitor's eye's light up at the sight.

"Well, well," She says. "Color me impressed, Lieutenant."

"I aim to please," You tell her. "Jeeves, fetch us a drink?"

"I shall select the finest vintage," Your servant replies dutifully, puttering away to find your stockpile. He returns only a few minutes later with a bottle of amasec and a pair of glasses balancing atop his head.

"Thank you, Jeeves," You tell him as you pour yourself and Christina a glass. The Inquisitor watches this all unfold with clear interest, obviously enjoying this new side of you.

"I must say, Lieutenant," She says. "You make a wonderful housewife."

"Is this going to be a routine now?" You ask, only slightly panicking at the prospect.

"We'll just have to wait and see," Christina answers, cutting a portion of her steak free and taking a bite. Like all first-timers with you, you're anxious to know what they think. As if knowing this, she chews thoughtfully for a time before finally swallowing and rewarding you with a smile.

"My compliments to the chef," She says, and you heave a quiet sigh of relief before starting on your own meal. True to her word, it's certainly one of your better works.

Back to the business.
>>
>>32694346
If we didn't ask already (can't remember), then we could always ask her if she's a Regicide player, since it never hurts to have more people to play against.

...of course playing Regicide against an Inquisitor sounds like quite a harrowing experience, but there you go.

It's difficult figuring out what counts as table manners with an Inquisitor, but she seems to take everything you do in amused stride. Though, on this note, you decide to see about being curious yourself.

"You've found out a lot about me," You say. "Why don't you tell me a little about yourself?"

At first she stares at you as if waiting on a punchline, but when she realizes you're serious she almost looks uncertain.

"What, me?" She laughs lightly. "I'm an Inquisitor. Not much else to add."

You stare.

"What would you like to know?" She sighs.

"I'm not interrogating you," You assure her. "I'm just curious. What do you like to do? Your interests?"

"I'm sorry," She says, looking just a little flustered. "It's not that I don't mind sharing, it's just I'm usually the ones asking question. Typically at gunpoint."

"Relax," You say, refilling her glass and your own. "Sidonas will be there tomorrow. Right now, let's try and get through some simple dinnertime small-talk."

"You make it sound like it's a challenge," She muses. "And... well, to be honest, I'd say I'm rather boring. I think Captain Delmar has all the eccentricities on the ship, at least from me."

"But you must like to do SOMETHING."

"Reading."

"There's go-huh?"

"I... like to read," Christina shrugs. "Not really much time to do anything else. The occasional Regicide game with Delmar, but that's it. As I said, I'm a rather boring woman without the power to kill billions on a whim."

"Well when you put it like that," You chuckle. "Regicide, though? How would you feel about a game after dinner?"

"I was wondering why this was in here," She mutters more to herself than you. "Alright. I'll play."

>>32695314

Time passes and the bottle of amasec slowly but steadily empties, though both of you make sure to not go overboard. Eventually, with the help of a good meal and drink in her, Christina begins to open up a bit. And of course, you take the opportunity to tease her a bit.

"So you and Vincent...?" You grin, vaguely remembering the Commander mutter something back during your escapade before the dance floor.

"NEVER!" Christina scowls. "Whatever he tells you is nothing but lies and slander. I swear, if that dirty old man was even slightly less useful..."

"He's friendly enough."

"There's a line between being friendly and being an ass."

"Where's you find him, anyways?"

"I don't even remember," Christina pinches the bridge of her nose. "A penal world, perhaps? Someplace that had simply had enough of him. I'm constantly thinking about sending him back."

"But you won't, because he's good at his job."

Rather than outright answer, she sighs and slumps her shoulders in defeat. Seeing this, you decide to turn things on a lighter note.

"What about you and Melodi?" You ask her, and she gives a wane smile. "There has to be a story behind you two meeting."

"Oh, I wouldn't say that," She answers. "I heard a Tech Priest was causing a bit of a ruckus going against the grain, and I have a soft spot for those types. We met, and found an equal love for adventure between the two of us. We've journeyed together ever since. Besides, she has certain... skills, that have helped us through tough times. How have you two been getting along?"

"Oh... well enough, when she isn't yelling at me about broken or dented parts," You laugh it off, though you feel the need to be careful with your wording.

"Good," She smiles. "I'm glad you're more or less getting along with everyone. Just... be nice to Eric."

"I'll try," You tell her, not too sure if you really will.

With dinner out of the way you and Jeeves go about putting away the dirty dishes and retrieving the Regicide board. Though a lot more relaxed than usual, Christina straightens in her seat as you both go about setting up the board.

"Have you played often?" Christina asks.

"Often enough," You say. "Nervous?"

"Shaking in my proverbial boots."

You note Jeeves returns, settling atop the bookshelf like a lazy cat as he watches you both look over your pieces.

"Who has first move?" Christina asks.

"Ladies first," You offer, and she merely shakes her head.

"You're a strange one, lieutenant."

"Thank you, ma'am," You smile, and with that begin your game.

As you play you begin to remember why you picked up the game. Nobles love it with a passion, and are always trying to laud their skills over one another. So when the dirty young Corporal with the comical grin shows up, they're all too willing to put thrones on the line.

You don't know the name of the tactic you or Christina are using, but the important thing is that you know what she has planned. You play it calm, cool, and collected as the game unfolds.

"Right, right, I remember this. This is... ah..." You look over the figure of an ancient beast in your hand.

"The Basilisk," Christina answers dryly.

"Uh huh," You say, looking between her and the piece. "I prefer the artillery piece."

A few minutes later, her king falls before your surprise assault. Christina gapes, brow furrowed as she tried to figure out what just happened.

"Blind Man's Fate," You tell her. "Or in this case, Woman's."

"Why you little..." Christina catches herself. "Well played."

"It was," You recline in your seat, enjoying your victory a moment before your thoughts turn serious. "So what happens next?"

"We plan a meeting with this Sal fellow," Christina replies without skipping a beat. "When Tiberius returns with his findings we'll see where that leads us. I don't want to, but I feel I'll have to let Vincent and some of his more... questionable men into the darker parts of the market."

"So much for 'shoot stuff and go home'," You grumble, though you're not too phased by the news. "Back to it, then?"

"No," Christina smiles and rises from her seat. "We've got a plan and my bed's calling me. Thank you for dinner, Lieutenant."

"Any time, ma'am."

With that Christina bids your farewell and departs, leaving you and Jeeves to yourself.

"I do believe this dinner was a success," Your servant notes.

"Not bad," You agree.

"Jeeves?"

"Yes, sir?"

"The usual, if you please."

"Of course, sir."

You enjoy a nice, hot shower before returning and dressing for bed, taking the glass awaiting you on the bar. You return to your current book; a fictional novel about a land of knights and dragons and other feudal things. You manage a few chapters before a familiar drowsiness falls over you and you cut the light. Sleep eventually overtakes you, thankfully without occurrence, and you awake the next morning with only a minor ache in the back of your head.

You begin to dress for the day, giving Jeeves a tired greeting as you do so.

You get dressed for the day and head down to the mess, where you find the typical crowd going about their business. However, you note that the mood is much more resigned and muffled. A much wider scale version of Vincent's home remedy is shown, but the man himself seems oddly fine. Beside him, Mikel quietly watches the others in vague amusement.

Alpha is only partly here, with Gabriel, Jonah, and Jami being the only ones present. They seem no worse for wear, all things considered.

With tray in hand you approach Vincent and Mikel, letting your food fall with just enough clatter to gain a few muttered curses. At this Vincent grins, obviously approving of your antics when not directed at him.

"Well, you're in one piece from the looks of things," You say, sitting. "What happened?"

"What else?" He chuckles. "We had fun."

"And your boys?"

"Unlike you and you're fething iron liver, these kids don't get much before they call it," He explains. "I'm lookin' for a rematch, you know."

"I'll have to put a rain check on that one," You chuckle. "Enjoy yourself, Father?"

"As much as I could with present company," Mikel rumbles, casting a disapproving glance at Vincent.

"He did," Vincent assured you. "He just won't admit it."

"Sounds like I missed quite the show," You note.

"Damn right you did. What happened?"

"I stayed on-board with Lady Massey. We looked over the notes Tiberius sent us."

"Tiberius? He's still alive? Damn. He owes me a drink."

You cast a wary glance around you to see no one paying you too much attention, but even so you lean forward ever so slightly anyways.

"Has she talked to you yet?" You ask, and just like that both men give you their whole attention.

"About?" Vincent asks quietly.

"We need some of your quieter boys to scope out some possible leads for us. Down in the darker parts of the hive," You explain. "Anybody come to mind?"

"Several," Vincent answers. "I just need a time and place. Expecting trouble?"

"We've got Guard intelligence on this one."

All three of you chuckle.

"Wouldn't have it any other way," Vincent says, downing his mug of caffeine. "Best get on the ball before she starts ridin' my ass. Stay outta trouble, Mik. You too, Mike."

Seeing as no one's come to take you off on a new mission you decide to stay a while and see about the everyday armsmen. With their helmets hiding their identities in combat it's hard to tell who is who, but a few give you a nod here and there if they're not currently hugging an ice pack or sleeping in their seat.

Unfortunately few people seem particularly chatty, not in the brightest of moods after a long night of fun. However, you do notice one familiar face. At first you didn't see him, now dressed in Antebellum fatigues, but you're good with faces once you've seen them enough times.

Sitting at a table, holding an ice pack to another man's head, is Jacklo.

To say you're surprised is putting it lightly. You never found out what exactly happened to the PDF trooper, and you were just a little uncertain if you really wanted to know.

You approach Jacklo and his companion casually, greeting the man with a smile.

"Hey," You say, deciding to start small.

"Morning," He says, looking up from his companion. "If he owes you money, take it up with him. I'm just here for moral support."

The man, his head down and arms folded, groans.

"I actually stopped by to talk to you, if you had a minute," You shrug. "Just thought I'd see how you were doing settling in."

"I think I'm gonna like it here," He says. "Nice people, good gear, and new sights all the time."

"Well, if you have any questions, just ask me and I'll do what I can to help," You offer.

"Thanks," Jacklo says, then hesitates. "I really hate to ask this, but... have we met before?"

You stare at him a few moments, uncertain, before he continues.

"Not that I don't mind your help, it's just you're just kind of acting like we've met before," Jacklo explains, laughing sheepishly. "I know my memories kinda shot most times, but I try and keep track of the important parts. Sorry about that."

Well, this isn't right. You're still trying to figure out what the hell's going on, but Jacklo seems to be getting more confused by the minute.

Yeah. >>32698705 and >>32698825 are an alteration to the theme song of Mystery Science Theatre 3000, AKA MST3K. It's a show that involves a janitor trapped in a rocketship orbiting earth and his robot pals. They watch old shitty movies and make fun of them to keep sane.

I recommend starting with Hobgoblins.

Something's wrong, but now's not the time to find out. Instead, you smile and shake your head.

"My fault, actually," You say. "You reminded me of an old friend. Michael Dunkin, by the way."

You extend your hand across the table and he shakes it, most of the anxiousness leaving him.

"Jacklo Matel," He answers. "Good to meet you."

"Look after yourself, Jacklo. Things can get crazy around here."

You part ways feeling odd. It's most likely better for everyone if Jacklo keeps thinking... whatever he's currently thinking, but it rubs you the wrong way. You try not to let yourself dwell on it, but it's difficult.

As if to read your mind, your vox chirps.

"Dunkin," You answer.

"Lieutenant," Christina says. "Good night's rest?"

"Well enough. Are we doing something?"

"We are. Meet me in the hangar bay in ten minutes."

"Yes, ma'am."

With your concealed gear already in place you move quick to join the Inquisitor. By the time you arrive the Lander's already prepared and Christina awaits you in the passenger bay.

"Sal?" You ask.

"The very same," She answers. "A bit last minute, but thrones do wonders to get a person's attention."

You strap in opposite of her and within moments your off, heading back for the planet. Your thoughts are still clouded, however, and you're itching to get to the bottom of what happened to Jacklo.

On one hand you want answers. On the other, you don't really want to end up in an even worse state than Jacklo. So, as when dealing with most women you meet, you take it as cautiously as you can.

"I saw Jacklo today, in the mess," You say as casually as you can. "Seems to be doing alright. Funny thing, though. The man didn't recognize me."

Christina closes her eyes for a moment, seeming to collect her thoughts before speaking.

"You're a smart man," She says, not sounding one way or another. "I don't need to tell you what happened."

"But why?"

"He asked."

You weren't expecting the answer, nor the bluntness that went with it.

"He asked?" You repeat, uncertain.

"You saw his condition, Lieutenant," She gives you a sad smile. "I made it very clear what it would do to him, and he still asked me. His skill with electronics can still be used, even if his old mind can't. Leave it at that."

Well, damn.

You can understand the logic, but that doesn't make it any better. Still, the fact that it was voluntary means you have no serious reason to make a major problem out of this. To the others, at least.

Luckily, she doesn't seem too bothered by the topic.

"How good of an actor are you?" She asks, changing subjects.

"I've never tried to career out, so we'll both see," You answer.

"Not what I was hoping for, but I suppose it will have to work," She sighs. "I've scheduled a personal meeting with Mr. Noriega to discuss getting our hands on xeno tech of any sort, not just weapons. You and I are representatives of Captain Delmar, looking into fulfilling a unique request for a client. We're willing to meet any price, but we're not stupid. Understood?"

"Yes, ma'am. Do we get new names?"

"Just in case they decide to check up on us. Which they probably will. You're Alex Sandon; ex-Guard and enforcer for Delmar. I'm Amanda Berg; one of the Captain's lesser known reps."

"Just like the picts," You note.

(Cont.)
>>
>>32701117

"Not quite," She says. "Try speaking with a Praetorian accent and I'll murder you."

"Of course."

From a viewscreen nearby you see that you're being dropped off on the upper levels of the hive, where the successful and noble get to live away from the doom and gloom of the underhive. As you stand, you note Christina retrieves a briefcase from the cargo rack before tossing it to you.

"Keep us in the loop, Farlass," Christina says as you disembark to find a busy hangar bay, filled with various workers and crewman of different ships.

"Aye aye, milady," The pilot responds with his usual enthusiasm.

The upper hive is a much more upscale, if more boring, part of the capitol than you expected. No one outright looks down their nose at you, but you still feel out of place.

"Something wrong, Mr. Sandon?" She asks, knowing very well there is.

"Not at all, Miss Berg," You reply, feigning a cheerful mood. "A wonderful day for a walk."

What feels like a short tour of the upper hive finally ends as Christina stops in front of an impressive administrative building, surrounded by an eight foot wall. Various banners of gold and orange flutter about adorned with an insignia you don't recognize nor care to know. A pair of guards stop you for a moment, but a flash of an identification badge from Christina causes them to step aside and allow you through.

"Why don't I have one of those?" You mutter, then feel something press into your hand. Christina, smiling in a questionable fashion, gives your hand a playful squeeze before letting go. Beyond the walls, a field of green and various gardens dot the grounds around you.

"So, how do you want to go about this?" She asks as you approach the doors to the building itself. "I can work on my feet, and I'm sure you can too."

"You do the talking, I'll frown," You tell her.

"Frown?" She asks.

"A lot," You clarify. "The old fashion Cadian death glare."

"Oh, of course. Try not to overdo it."

Both of you reach the door and Christina gives it three sharp knocks. A few moments later one of them swings open to reveal a well-dressed man with well-combed black hair, bright green eyes and a friendly smile

"Yes?" He asks. "How may I help you?"

"I'm Amanda Berg, and this is Alex Sandon. We work for-" Christina begins.

"Yes, yes, we're aware who you are," The man steps aside. "Please, do come inside."

You have a bad feeling about this, but you follow Christina in without a word. Inside you find the building to look more like a mansion than an office, and as you're lead down a corridor you begin to suspect it may actually be just that. Crazy hivers and their crazier architecture...

"I must thank you for deciding on us to help you with this venture, whatever it may be," The man continues as you walk. "The Brice Family is always looking for new trading partners and friends."

"I'm happy to hear that," Christina says. "Is Mr. Noriega waiting on us?"

"I'm afraid he's running just a bit late," The man informs you, turning to walk backwards as he clutches at his heart. "I must apologize. He's never one for keeping track of time."

Without turning back around he stops at a door seemingly at random, opening it and signaling you both inside with flourish. You continue to frown as you step inside, finding a relatively modest meeting room with a window overlooking the gardens outside. On the table stretching the length of the room sits what you guess is a tea set, but you pay it little mind.

(Cont.)
>>
>>32701743

"I don't recognize your accent, Miss," The man muses as he closes the door behind him. "If you don't mind my asking, where are you from?"

"A small little rock a long way from here," Christina chuckles. "Is there something wrong with it?"

"Oh, not at all!" The man smiles. "It is only... different. I like it."

The Inquisitor lets out a feminine giggle and you resist the urge to vomit. Instead, you continue to hold the case and look as mean as you can while you wait.

You remain rooted where you are, case in hand and scowl fully in place. In his attempts to woo Christina the man, by chance, glances over to you. He meets your gaze for a few seconds before straightening and clearing his throat. He also takes a respectable step back from the Inquisitor.

"Your man," He says, waving to you. "He is ex-military, no?"

"What gave it away?" Christina asks, all innocence.

"I have an eye for his people," The man grins. "The Brice Family is always happy to put our returning veterans to work, however we can."

You blink.

"Where is Mr. Noriega?" The man mutters, pulling at his collar. "I'm certain he sa-"

The door flies open and a short man you first take for a ratling comes tumbling through, panting and red faced.

"A... Apologies," He manages, leaning against the table. "I for... forgot about our meeting..."

"Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy, Sal," The man grins, and when he notes him Sal snaps up to what you think is supposed to be attention.

"M-Mr. Brice!" He says. "Why are you-"

"It would appear whoever's supposed to be watching the door needs to be fired," The apparent merchant sighs. "Honestly, you simply can't find good help these days..."

"I can see to it from here, I promise you," Sal tells him, slowly regaining his composure.

"I suppose you can," He nods, then gives Christina one last smile. "Jean Brice, at your service for as long as you need. I hope we see much of each other in the future, Mrs. Berg."

"Misses," She corrects, returning the smile with her own.

With that the man takes his leave and both of you turn to Sal Noriega, a man of rather underwhelming size and stature. Though seemingly just in his early 40's, his blonde hair is already beginning to thin and grey.

(Cont.)
>>
>>32702742

"Yes, well," He says, running a hand through his hair. "Shall we get down to business?"

"Let's," Christina answers, taking a seat with him. You remain standing in the corner, looking particularly angry at everything.

"I understand you requested me personally?" Sal asks.

"We heard you were the very best at what you did," She replies.

"And what would that be?"

"Acquiring goods of an... exotic nature."

At that Sal seemingly changes gears, his anxiousness and anxiety all but falling away as he looks between the two of you.

"Yes, and...?"

"And you know this how?"

"Greed, my dear Sal. Thanks to that little incident two weeks ago everyone is looking for pulse weaponry. But only we know where to look. Isn't that right?"

At the mention of the attack Sal's left eye twitches ever so slightly.

"Perhaps," He admits. "I am not ignorant of the news of local gossip. Even if I could get what you ask, it will be far from cheap."

At the Christina turns to you and nods, and with the ease of practice you've been mentally doing for the past few minutes you open the brief case and place it on the table.

Inside it a small fortune of thrones, and you fight the urge to gawk. You'd been carrying THAT?

He hides it well, but even a blind man could see the money bags in Sal's eyes. For an instant his nervousness returns he licks his lips, glancing about the room.

Then he looks at you.

"I need more than money," He says. "I need bodies. You're a soldier, right? A mercenary; even better. I've got a problem. Guns and men that can use them are part of the solution. Do you think you could lend me your services for a time?"

Christina simply watches this unfold with boredom, looking over her nails as if she wants to be anywhere else than at work.

"Unfortunate," Sal nods. "Well, if that's a-"

"I can't give you the okay myself cause I'm not the one with the thrones," You continue. "You want me, or my people, you take it up with the boss man himself. You two sort it out and I'm your man."

"A loyal mercenary," Sal muses. "I don't think I'll ever find a rarer sight. Alright, then. Allow me to discuss terms with Captain Delmar, and with hope we'll all be able to come out of this much richer than before."

"You and me both," You grunt, all parts the gruff hired gun.

"Then it's settled," He says, watching you retrieve the case with longing. "Fresh terms and a fresh contract."

"A pleasure doing business with you," Christina says, shaking hands with him.

You stare until he grows uncomfortable again.

With a curt farewell you're both led outside, and it isn't until you're in the crowd and down the street that Christina turns to you and smirks.

"Very well done, Lieutenant," She praises you. "Now he's gone from being our problem to Delmar's."

"Is that good?" You ask.

"The Captain could haggle a fish out of water. We'll get our way in, and earn a pretty penny as well."

"I wasn't aware the Inquisition sold it's services."

"We don't. You're a mercenary, and you're going to be leading other mercenaries."

"Do I get to choose the name of our group?"

"Don't push it."

Your only response is to chuckle.

"Tiberius is good, but I doubt he'll have everything I asked for this soon," Christina goes on. "But he might have enough to keep us busy."

I'm assuming Christina is giving Delmar a heads-up to expect contact about the merc situation.
>>
>>32703348

"Lead on," You say, and with that you start back towards the hangar. Then genius strikes you. "What about a team motto? In for a penny..."

"NO!"

"Has anyone ever said you're a real buzzkill?"

"Often and loudly."

"...Vincent?"

"Often. And. Loudly."

Before long you return to the transport, with a quick conversation with Eric has you head back to the middle section of the hive for Tiberius.

You find the retired Arbite behind the counter of his shop once more, feet propped up in his chair as he reads over a dataslate of some sort. Even as you enter, however, he remains exactly where he is.

"On the ball, as always," Christina muses.

"Playing the waiting game, yes," Tiberius answers. "I pissed off three cogboys doing these late-night checks of yours. Probably going to add more before it's done, too."

"Have you decided to start being considerate of others while I was gone?"

"I never said that. I only said it wasn't the most enjoyable experience."

As they converse you idly inspect the various parts scattered about the shop, more to waste time than anything else. You also keep an eye out one of the storefront windows.

After a time your vox buzzes, and you take a step outside before answering.

"Dunkin."

"Hey, Mikkey!" Vincent greets you. "Listen, I've got a proposition for you."

Once more, you're stomach warns you of trouble ahead.

"Go on," You tell him warily.

"Me and some of the boys are planning on having us a little venture down to the underhive to look for some stuff for the Lady. We've also got other plans, and I'm looking for somebody I can count on."

"Count on for what?"

"In case things get fun. Find us in Hangar A7 on the Antbellum, around 2100. There's money and more to be made, if you're willing."

>>
>>32704241
>"We'll see."

Just let him know that there might be some complications.

Now that we're a known face to Sal, we have to be careful where we show ourselves planetside and what we do. Going with Vincent could further cement our merc cover story, but we should consider running it past Christina first.
>>
>>32704241
>>I`ll be there

>>32704241

"We'll see," You tell him. "Right now let's just play it by ear."

"Eh. Fair enough. Just don't forget."

"I won't."

Killing the vox, you step back inside. Christina waits patiently, obviously more curious over what just happened with you rather than conversation with Tiberius. The Arbite, for his part, ignores both of you and continues reading.

"Vincent," You say as a way of answering.

"What does he want now?" She sighs.

"Going down to the Black Market," You say. "Seems he wants my help for... something."

"Of course he doesn't give you details," She says, rolling her eyes. "And what do you plan on doing?"

"I was about to ask you the same thing."

Tiberius looks up from his dataslate and shares an uncomfortably pleased expression with Christina.

"The kid learns fast," He says.

"Oh please," She replies. "I think he's always been like this. It's why he's here."

Gonna cut it here, folks. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

I'm just about finished giving out new thread dates, but I'm gonna spitball for Friday. I might pull it off on Thursday, but don't count on it.

depends how good you are at it. Even then, the best thing would be to post smut outside the thread in a pastebin and fade to black for the thread readers.

Personally I think heavy petting into ftb with the lewd in a pastebin works pretty well.

I've been here since I crit failed the memory roll. I just thought you Anons were shooting the shit about that melody and Christina thing
>>
All Melodi, all the time.

Christinafags and Roxyfags can get the fuck out.
>>
>>32706450
I've been here since we remembered not having a leg. I didn't think Mel+Christina was a serious thing until the second time it was pushed forward.

We're married to the job, anon. Christina best girl anyway
>>
>>32707300
I think you mean job is the best girl.
>>
>>32706450
>You guys new?

Nope, also not new, been here since the very start.

The Mel/Chris frenching thing really didn't seem as popular as you think it was. I also saw the Mel/Chris thing as something that was mentioned as a laugh, but it certainly didn't seem serious, nor all that popular to be honest. If anything, Michael's pretty invested as a (former) Guardsman, which is why I see Roxy as the most likely to click with him if he does get close to one of them. Neither Mel or Chris really "get" being a soldier.

I reckon we'd get along best with Roxy. That doesn't mean we want a relationship with her.

What's wrong with >>32708182 being right? The job is our main squeeze guys. Melodi = Worst Girl
>>
>>32708702
Had his other hobbies never been mentioned I'd agree more with him being an invested guardsmen. However he seems to much more of an intellectual, to be honest none of the ladies really are a perfect match for him from what we've seen of them.
>>
>>32708810
Yeah, the harmonica I understand but how do we explain the piano?

A pleasurable stint or rotation on a Paradise World from the front lines?
>>
>>32708797

I agree that Melodi is worst girl, even if I think she can make a passable friend with some work.

Our job is certainly important, but Michael strikes me as someone to whom making connections (and keeping them alive) is important to him, perhaps moreso than "just" the job. He's no robot.

That's why I think >>32708182 is wrong, but we'll see, I guess.

>>32708810

Some of the most invested soldiers I've known have similar, or even more astonishing hobbies than Michael does, so I'd say it has little bearing on his investment.

Intellectual is not the word I'd pick for Michael, necessarily. I'd actually suggest "cultured" or "well-traveled". With the sights and amount of time he's been a soldier, you invariably pick up little talents and skills over time.

I sort of recall Michael stating that fighting actually covered hobbies for him, and only vaguely had memories of music, so I still think he's more invested as a soldier than in any actual hobby he might have picked up as a way to pass time during slow periods.

>>32708922
He's a Cadian. Any hobbies that he developed that weren't soldiering-related were picked up after he shipped out.
>>
>>32708904
heh I got nothing on the piano.
>>32708922
Yeah intellectual wasn't the right word for him, I like cultured better.

Anon from the start here, just got home from work, and it is as popular as he thinks but what do I know, we're gonna get all three in our bed
