Welcome back to Golem Quest! Here you take on the form of a stone golem, who just one week ago awoke to find your creator burnt to a crisp and yourself gifted with sentience. From then on, you explored the immediate area, saved the village of Goravan from slavery, and were given the aid of an expert to build a quarry. You have just completed your first Titan class Golem, so things are just getting interesting.

>The titan awakens, its monstrous form a new presence in your mind. It weighs on you more than the other, weaker golems. This one has potential. You order it to stand, and experiment with the weapons.

from the last thread,

"It is but the first, little one. Do you think you could ride it to town, then enter ahead of it and warn the lord of it's arrival? I'd prefer not to start a panic."

Then work on strengthening its link while it's in transit. Have #3 build a couple skirmishers as resources permit.

I'm also interested in seeing what happens when we improve its link. The description from last thread has left me intrigued.
>>
>>32701051
We probably need to, yeah. I'm also wondering if we can stabilize the links of newly created golems now that we have an idea on how to modify cores to create pylons.
>>
>>32701114
I'll allow you guys to just stabilize them at 50 if you wish, rather than rolling.

Is that the level of our slow bus golem #5? I'm mostly concerned with making sure our golem army can function at full efficiency.

So I have an idea, guys. Hear me out.

The sorceress is probably the single biggest threat in that bandit army, and we're not exactly quick or stealthy, so taking her out might be hard.

HOWEVER, we're stupidly strong and durable. So what I propose is that we build another titan, craft a simple slingshot alike composed of a cup big enough for a light small fighter hugging its knees and two ropes that the titans hold on either side. They then fire the skirmishers at a distant target, like the sorceress. If we make like 10 skirmishers we can probably fire them all in a pretty short time period. When all have impacted, the unfold themselves and try to murder the sorceress.

You turn to Tomas.

"It is but the first, little one. Do you think you could accompany it to town, then enter ahead of it and warn the lord of it's arrival? I'd prefer not to start a panic."

Tomas nods, "Sure, Red."

They make their way to Goravan, and over their relatively short trip you attempt to experiment with how far your mental bond goes with the Titan, as its unique bond intrigues you.

The bond itself just weighs on your mind, where the others either are a tickle, or just a completely new part, as is the case with the other crafting golem. It will take some time to flesh out any benefits. For now you busy yourself with paving the way for another perfect bond.

Mental Bond: Titan +2 (91: Near-Link)

However, as the bond matures with your cultivation, you feel it... resonate. This is different. The other bonds only make you feel more compatible with said golems, the stronger they are, this one responds to the bond strengthening, without your prodding otherwise.

As all of this goes on, you use #3 to create the first skirmisher model. It is a fast, light warrior, whose small mutable attachments may be useful for small weaponry.

Do you take the safe route and stabilize the nexus of this model, or risk it for a possible perfect bond?

>[]Rites:Safe
>[]Rites:Risk
In your vote, please vote on if this should be a case by case basis or if this is a switch you would like to swap on your (the players) whim.
>>
>>32701471
>>[]Rites:Safe
I think for our combat troops we should be going with the safe stabilization, if only to not squander resources. Weak link golems have already proven to be significantly worse at tasks than normal ones.

Also, I wonder if the titan is a proto-cerebrate.
>>
>>32701471
I'm not sure I understand the choices, is the risk a higher DC but capable of forming a perfect bond?
>>
>>32701566
No, you either stabilize the core at 50, or roll as normal.

>>32701197
Slow bus is 30~, 50 is standard
>>
>>32701566
If it's like the previous threads, the risk option is just a straight roll. Safe would lock the golems at a link value without rolling.
>>
>>32701471
>>[]Rites:Safe
We're under time pressure, we can't afford to make dud golems right now.
>>
>>32701598
what has our safe value been like.
>>
Hey OP, before we get too into it tonight, I have a question.

Once we get so far into golem research, will you allow us to switch main bodies? Or possibly transcend the need for a main body to begin with?

Just saying, at some point we are going to create golems of a more exotic nature, assuming standard fantasy, like mithril or adamantium, or shit, materials completely unique to your setting, like "Elemental Bodies" around a golem core or something, and it would be a bit weird to have bullshit-metal-tier golems in our empire and still have most of our mind anchored in a stone golem.
>>
>>32701633
I'm pretty sure we could do that right now. #3 and #1 are interchangeable, as far as I can tell.
>>
>>32701633
Both are highly likely possibilities. In most senses, you already aren't anchored to one form, but unless you want to test the true limits of it by destroying your primary form... yeah.

I guess what I'm saying is, we'll find out.

I can say that I understand your concerns and I have answers that would reveal too much at this point in time.
>>
>>32701622
Safe value is nothing special. Generally golems with higher values retain a portion of your learned skills for use in automated endeavors, and also respond more quickly to your commands.

Ah, thanks, was actually -really- worried about that, like, WAY later down the road.

>>32701657

I was working off the assumption that "that" connection was more of "Assuming Indefinite Direct Control" kinda deal where we operated through him, but if our main body went kaput they become inert shells.
>>
>>32701755
We were able to pull away our consciousness from our main body in one of the tests earlier.

Maybe we should try the pylon experiments again, except this time use #3 as our body and fully leave #1.

You stabilize the nexus on the skirmisher, causing the animation rites to be stable, but quite mundane in comparison. The golems created will all share a standard, if slightly mediocre, link.

Upon this discovery, you delve into the mental bond. Testing the bond, and following it to the titan, you find a rudimentary telepathic bond, or at least what you would call one. Where the other golems are empty space on the other end. This one seems to have a base structure.

However, this wasn't here before. Perhaps strengthening the bond allowed the Titan to develop? Currently you would say that the Titan is even sub-animal in intelligence, as you do not even receive any empathetic responses from it, just a low hum.

You can still access its visual and audio inputs, and can control it and order it. During any orders though, the hum seems to be suppressed! Interesting.

It is during this time that Tomas places the golem in the town center, where the townsfolk begin to go about the task of disguising it.

What do you do?
>>
>>32702439
Make some more skirmishers made up of wood

Equip them with sling weapons
>>
>>32702439
Is it possible to equip the Titan with some kind of slingshot, and make about ~10 Skirmishers?
>>
>>32702488
fuck that idea, its better to have a catpult made, and just shoot it from a hill, while they are distracted from the titan.
>>
>>32702482
No such thing as a wood golem

>>32702439
I want to see if we can increase our Attention, so we can e.g. craft with #3 while researching with #1.
Or seeing if we can create an Overlord for the mine.
>>
>>32702439
So mental commands stunt its growth. Can we speak through it? Tell Tomas or the lord that this golem will continue to respond to their verbal commands.
>>
>>32702488
His mutable weaponry can only create weapons completely made out of stone, and you do not have the materials (leather, etc) to make one. You are currently on the way to that skirmisher goal, though.
>>
>>32702507
>>32702550
A Catapult sounds interesting. What would we need to do to make one?
>>
>>32702625
Wood, rope, time. It'd be easier to make the dual titan slingshot posted earlier.
>>
>>32702646
we have a whole village willing to help us.
>>
>>32702548
You can issue commands to it as if it were any other golem, at this point. With golems you do not share a perfect link with, you order them to speak a dialogue, and they follow the order.

>>32702625
I would say at least one rank in Craft:Siege Engineering, and 600 wood, 50 metal. You do have enough metal in the store, juust need the wood.

>>

>>
>>32702686
Honestly, i only suggested the idea, because his sling shot idea was stupid and was falling the rule of cool, also because catapults are devastating, and they can still use his stupid sling shot idea.
>>
>>32702664
Probably not worth going for at the moment.

I'd say keep up the Skirmisher production, look into making that Overlord, and meditate on increasing Attention.

I'd prefer to RNG-roll the rites of creation, since we often get 70+ rolls.
>>
>>32702735
Still don't see why people voted for safe, when he said its basically only 50.
>>
>>32702802
>>32702767
Wait, never mind. Don't check mah rolls
>>
>>32702735
I think it could be worth it, to make at least 1 or 2 and just fill them with stone.
it would only take 1-3 golems to operate, and can cause devastating damage, hell if you want to skip out on that idea we can just make boulders our titan can toss at them from range.
