You are otto schulte, a twelve year old girl on her way to destiny - you are a student of the scholia progenium on besvir, and a prospect to become one of the selected officials to one day lead the great imperial armies in battle, if you survive. Little is know of your past - you only know what your uncle(whom you've got no blood relation to) told you: They where charged with your care before you where old enough to crawl. For as long as you can remember you've lived amongst the stars onboard shiftships traveling the interstellar void of the immaterium.

You've arrived at the scholia progenium of which you where assigned, unfortunately so have Nikkobar the big oaf - a bully of whom you meet just before coming to the scholia, and his gang of misfits! Not all is bad, you've also meet the more friendly planetborn Angelina whom the planet mold seems to have left alright. There is also the "twins" to worry about, and how to survive the practicals, and as ever the ongoing mission to rid the world of your accursed first name "otto" - a administratum fuck up that left you with a boys name.

Your story is only just beginning.

Last week we found traitors, rode a boat and got whipped.

Roll rules:

Lowest of first three rolls for things the character is skilled at doing.
Median of first three rolls for things the character is "capable" at.
Highest of first three rolls for things the character is utterly shit at.

You have to "beat" your stats (which for now are hidden by popular demand, this may change) so low rolls are good.

Cont post explained:If there is a post marked at the end with "cont" its becouse your QM is lazy, and can't type fast - or becouse he wants to give you the option to jump into the current events, or offer opinions, if none are offered he'll continue as normal

Four days had passed since your incident in the forest, for days. Stretching our under the comfortable sheets of your own bed the pain in your back seemed distant, the Lord-Commissar had ensured they where thorough with you, all of you. The memory of the flogging was red hot in your mind, the large man that had forced you and the others of your squad to their knees, the sharp pain as the lashes had begun, tears in your eyes as you looked out over the sea of faces observing, judging, feeling the same burn come to your eyes you push it away, instead turning to the chrono standing on your nightstand.

>"01.00 Standard, 06.00 Besvir - 892.922.M41"

You let your chest rise and fall in a deep sigh - today was the first time you'd been allowed back into the scholia proper, the first time you had slept in your own bed. Your bed, it felt nice to think about it like that, it was oddly comforting to be back in your room, for all the downsides, ever since the inccident you had not had the chance to meet your friends from the forest, they had kept you seperate, you felt a pang of worry when thinking about Angelina, how was she?

Looking out into the spartan room the school had seemed fit to give you - a room in house five, usually for the boys.. outside it was silent, there would be another thirty or so minutes before the rest of the house woke up, enough time to get a headstart to anywhere you where going - like breakfast, perhaps Angelina would be there?

You grunt, feeling energy flowing through your veins again as you push the blanked of your slim form, grabbing the side of the bed for support you rise up to a sitting position ignoring the dull throbbing pain in your back. Casting a tired look around the room for the clothes you had unceremonious disposed the day before in a flurry you note them where you had left them - a pang of guilt about how you had disposed of them in such a manner - your uncles tired old words about the importance of clothing ringing in your head as you slowly you rise from the bed. Your body gives sharp protests about the cold air rushing to meet you as you step away from the bed, running a hand through your short red hair you step towards the shower - a nagging sensation in the back of your head overpowering the hunger

"I have to look at my back..."

Pushing the door open you step into the tiny one-man toilet/shower you had, it was tidy and neat just like you had left it - a towel resting over the heating unit on the wall drying. Aside from the washing sink and the shower there was also the full length mirror standing on the floor - an old polished wooden frame surrounding it , bare aside from an engraving of the imperial aquila at the bottom, trepidation filling you as you walk towards it and turn around - your nude body easily giving you access to see what the medicae had left behind...

You clasp a hand over your face as you observe the horrid markings left behind by the lash - criss corssed across your flesh is the obvious markings - the inexpertly applied synth-skin seemingly put on in such a manner to make the scarring grow worse, the red skin reminding you of something broken - a shatterd pipe.. a ruined piece of mashinery, reaching around your back you feel the scars - dull pain racing up to meet your fingers as you probe the sensative flesh - tears rising in your eyes for the second time this day. The red marks seemed unreal as you felt across the skin, fingers playing along the crusted lines of poorly healed flesh. "This is going to go away right..?" you mutter to yourself while lowering your hands to their sides - looking at yourself in the mirror you look somehow diffrent then last time.. the eyes that looks back at you almost alien - tired, worried - hard, diffrent from the usual curious glare. What had happend to you? Pushing away the worries, and the knot in your gut you crash into the shower, turning the knob red hot - letting the steaming water wash away your worries.

Twenty minutes later you step out, letting out a sight as you button your jacket, tossing a quick glance in the mirror before you leave the bathroom you see yourself, the jet-black uniform shimmering slightly in the light. Taking your trusted and old companion from its spot on the nightstand you observe the green screen.

You push out of the room, tossing a quick glance at the man looking sternly back at you from the frame hanging next to the door - an overweight man clad in golden finery and sitting in a throne, you vaguely recall him as being the current ruler of this planet but you pay no heed to it as another issue becomes apparent - stepping out into the corridor you are greeted by a large crowd of boys moving through the corridors - it seems you've got right into rush hour! Cramming yourself elbows first into the group you make room for yourself in the milling crowd, grunting as you do your best to push through and grimacing every time one of the clumsy bastards shove into your back.

Four minutes, a gallon of sweat and two bruise marks later you burst into the relative safety of the open - looking out over the court yard - the sky morose and heavy behind the thick clouds that hang ominously above you. Honing your senses into the squat mess hall you traverse the ground, giving a quick eye to the ever-present statue of the Emperor. It takes you awhile to push into the mess hall - the food you are gifted by the servitor is an odd mix of green things, flat disks of green on top off which rested some somewhat thin strips of well, it looked like old metal corroded - small bubbles resting on its stringy surface of some unknown substance - it smelled grand however, and food on planets seemed to be their only upside.

You look through the room, scanning the faces of the few people that are sitting in the chamber - seemingly slightly a head of the curve fortunately the room is not overfilled quite yet, several benched remain untouched.
One in particular is completely empty aside from one lone figure sitting of to the side of it, hunched over his food with a gaunt expression on his face is Zarkov.
His demeanor seems to suggest he is in a similar state to yourself no doubt feeling the lick of the lash have left him equally drained.
It would seem he's not noticed you at all, standing amidst the churning crowds that part around you to find their tables.

You gingerly approach Zarkov, pushing past a few people on your way there, casting a quick glance out the window you see the swell of people that are trickling in - if you eat quickly you should have a good chance not to get trampled since most of those will be eating. Throwing a leg over the seat and putting down your dish tray Zarkov is suddenly brought out of his trance and turns to look at you, surprise in his eyes "Schulte?" he manages after a moment of silence. "Still alive, yes - how's the back? Mine felt like someone threw a Egnium on it" "Egnium?" He responds lifting an eyebrow "Oh you know, Egnium patter heat exchanger, those things are everywhere right?"

Zarkov's face splits up in a grin at this "Same old Schulet" - "My back's on fire as well, tried tossing ice on it yesterday but only made it worse, saw Ferrus earlier, he looks about the same - was sitting alone but left when I got to him" ignoring his statement for now you narrow your eyes at him
"What do you mean "same old schulte" you bite at him in between chews of your food. "Ah, yes um - did you know that the scholia food is actually local? They've got a grox heard - its what the bacons from" The two of you continue to small talk about various things as soon as Zakrov manages to distract you with informing you about the weird "Bacon" that made up the food you are eating, what-ever that meant, it sounded interesting however.

You take a deep breath, closing your eyes for the briefest of moments are you try and summon up the events of that night to your forebrain - the memories where jumbled, messy and patchy - looking back on it was like looking into someone else life, like recalling a distant dream after one awoke, that is aside from one moment, one moment of clarity as you stood in the dark forest.. open your mouth you begin to tell the tale of the night. "The creature was huge, easily twice or even thrice my height, it had no fur and its skin was like taunt human skin - only the whole thing was brutal looking, a massive torso and these short stubby legs and enormous arms like ocelator spires, once I.. you know shot it I saw its inside... it was filled with small white things that crawled around everywhere.. it stank like burnt rubber and stale water, the whole thing." you shake your head - sorry, I don't like thinking about it.. you know the rest I told you and the rest outside the commissars office.. Zakrov nods at this, before pointing towards the door "Shall we head to class? - Perhaps Angelina will be there?" - you nod at this, Ferrus should be there as well,probably.. if you want to talk to him. The two of you gather yourselves and begin the trek, leaving your dirty trays to the servitor - outside it becomes even more apparent however, how people are avoiding you. You notice a pair of second year students actually take a long circle around you, averting the gaze as you turn your gaze upon them. The trip goes quick and its not long before you find yourself in one of the many lecture halls of the scholia - a massive room no doubt capable of holding a hundred if not two hundred people - a center stage surrounded by tiers of benches and tables reaching ever higher - gold and brass everywhere you look and a giant chancelleries hanging far above, giving the room that particular glow to it as the ambient light catches in the ornamented work sending rays of light in all directions bathing the room in a glow that seems to emanate from everywhere at once. Of course you pay little heed to that as you hear a dry feminine voice call out across the room - standing tall in her white armor, one of the sisterhood - you knew them know having been taught their meaning in classes beforehand. "Otto Schulte" she states, firmly - as if tasting the words in her mouth "You will sit in the first row" - it was not a request.

You feel the hard stare of the sister as you lower your head towards the floor and anwers "Yes M'am" the tension in the air is palpable when you turn to walk to your seat - the front rows where as always empty your class was no more then fourty people and most prefered the higher up seats, sliding down to a sit you notice how Zarkov sits down next to you. You give him a questioning stare and he simply returns it with a grin. "You don't have to do this you know" you whisper to him as activity returns to the room when more people beings to pour in "Hey, we're lashed togheter now arent we?" Admist the incoming crowd you see the familiar face of Angelina - she looks well, compared to the two of you, her skin the same healthy glow it always had, she waves at you before sliding down next to the two of you.

"Nice day isent it?"

The rest of the class runs by slowly, the sister is a good but strict teacher, the class spins the tales of the horous heresy, the old event where the emperor slew horous his favored son and accended the golden throne - you struggle to remember the names and the mytical deeds the great hereos of the past did, but you try your best to put it all to memory. Classes exhange each other quickly - and you only manage a few words in with your friends before the next one teacher arrives to talk about gun maintancene - and the third algebra. Evenutally however the three of you makes it outside, Angelinas good mood affecting the loot of you "How's the back?" you ask he while the tree of you walk to one of the nearby windows to get some privity "Its alright, I got of easy - he was tired when he got to me" you where about to answer when something to your left catch your attention - a large crowd had formed in a circle around something.

"Sorry to cut this short, but I've been requested to go to the Mechanicus Workshop... See you both later?" the two of them look away from the gathered crowd to answer "Yes, you should come by my room this evening Schulte - I want you to try out some things for me - oh, bring a pillow you can sleep over" you tilt your head and where about to question why when she cuts you short by loudly asking Zarkov a question about lasguns - and he is already gone, typical Zarkov. Giving a slight sigh you turn on your heels and being the long trek towards the tower - the home and housing of the administratum - and more importantly the mechanicus. Stepping out of the central building you are greeted by the sound of water - outside the courtyard was a dark mess, you could barely see a few meters due to the sun having set - and the heavy downpour, cursing your luck you flip up the jacket over your head and dash into the Weather - blasted planets, this is why the food was not worth it. (Even if the concept of dinner still had your belly rumble, it would have to wait until the mechanicus got their due)

The mad dash leaves you slightly winded - and more importantly wet, your clothes where surprisingly however not that damp - your uniform seemed to repel the water as it hit, not that it helped your boots who where soaking at this point, the heavy metal reinforced boots not made for this, rushing up the steps and opening up the door to the tower you where greeted by a rush of warm air - and that familiar smell of grease and piston oil, a smile forming on your lips and you drank in the fumes, this was as close to home you where going to get here you told yourself.ยด Pushing inside you arrived inside the sanctum of the mechanicus priest - the room was much like you had seen it last, pistons churning in the back, servitors working over various screens - the roof of cables that formed a dome towards the center, almost like a church.

Your mentor stood with his back to you - and it was therefore you spotted the new addition to his flesh - a large bulky machine arm dominated his left flank, it whirred and hissed as it moved around, lights blinking and syringes moving inside, exchanging one-and-another rapidly as he seemed to use them to draw fluids from something in front of him, shielded by his bulk.

"Otto Schulte" his raspy voice intoned.

>What do we do?
>A: Ask why we where summoned.
>B: Remain silent, observe the room.
>C: Remain silent, poke at something(specify)
>D: Ask about his new arm, and what he is doing

>E: Other.

But politely.

>E: I am here, magos.

Never hurt to be polite.

A. Ask why we where summoned.

In the most respectful way of course. Got to show the proper reverence to the machine god's servants.

"Why have I been summoned Master Tech-priest?" you intone, bowing slightly - your fingers interlocked into the symbol of the cog - just like your uncle had taught you. There is a silence as the tech priest continues his work - his arm buzzing and clicking. You slowly right your back, but keep your fingers interlocked - in hope that he'd at least see that if he turned around.. moments drag on before after what felt like minutes he answers "I have taught you little of the mechanicus ways Otto Schulte - it is why you are here, it would seem in my folly I might have trained you to much" - he suddenly turns around - the object in his hand - a jar with some manner of fluid inside quickly shoved in on a nearby shelf as he walks past you, "The bolt gun you acquired have taken a liking to you it seems - I find it hard to maintain it, its spirit is willful, and have already jammed twice during my ritual of fire, despite my best attempts" you detect almost a trace of worry in his voice as he walks amongst the shelves that makes up one side of the room - the various knick-nacks and weird metallic objects looking as much out of place as last time. He removes a large box from one of the shelves, and turns around to face you.

"This gun seems to have taken a master - but you are to young to use it in accordance to scholia law, not until you are issued into an instance after your third year might you be gifted with such an item."

"Instanced?" you ask, before you can stop yourself - and the tech priests normally lazily spinning optics comes to a halt and narrow into you "Yes, after service you'll be issued into either the Commissariat, Administratum, Imperial Guard, Stormtrooper regiments sisters of battle, navy..." the drones for a moment before coming to an end. "Only proper students are allowed to wear weapons, most of these are not at the scholia at this moment - but partaking in a large military training exercise on Besvir Four." This you had heard, and not as a response. "The gun must be appeased - and barring a complete reforge I have no use of it, you will come here and perform rituals on it in my stead. I will guide your hands. If you survive this gun will be yours - this I will make sure, see it as a blessing for your work here."

Thanks for running Commissar!

I think it's pretty clear that people want you to continue.

Also, OH YEAH! We got us a boltgun if we survive and now are basically going to learn more about the Machanicus in the process.
>>
>>32804783
It seems like we just keep learning more and more about the Machanicus whether they like it or not.

Is our relationship with them odd considering we aren't "apart" of them?
>>
>>32804901
They are not sharing any real secrets really, he's teaching you mostly stuff thats in the uplifters primer - just a bit more in depth. Perhaps he'll teach you some more juicy bits if you can convince him but that won't be easy.
>>
>>32804783
I'm not sure I have any real feedback but I would personally like us to learn fencing soon because hilariously grimderpy melee combat is half the point of 40k. Also do you plan on doing any larger timeskips? because I think if we keep this rate then we'll be lucky if we get out of the schoola this decade. Not that I mind too much because this is awesome too. Thanks for running.
>>
>>32804965
Aye, we've got a long one upcoming - a few months there is going to be one or two more things I want you to do in order to "finish" this arch as it where before we move along with a timeskip to some stuff, in short: Yes.

Also, fuck yah - we're getting chainswords up in here, grimderpy melee combat is a must, even better if we can get some hilariously over-the-top training involving a much to large chain-sword.

Also, thank you for playing
