You are Anthony Grant and you are stuck in the world of Elder Tales as Ambrosis the level 31 cleric. You are towered over by the iron, crenelated legs of a wolf covered in metal. The iron frame that was its mouth opened up to reveal a row of teeth made of copper columns. Red embers escape through the teeth and you can hear the distinct sound of a hammer pounding away at metal coming from inside the beast. The monster draws close to you, each step it takes shakes the ground. It draws in the air around you and exhales a breath of heat and embers.

“Nothing worthy to sell.” Speaks the baritone voice of the tyrant, “How disappointing.”

You stare at the metal wolf, not quite sure what to make of it.

It turns and its powerful legs sends tremors along the ground. It smells each of your companions and comments on their plebeian equipment, except for one.

It stops at Tabula. “Ah.” Says the wolf-king, “A diamond in the rough.” He draws closer to the summoner.

In response, Tabula lifts up his staff and slams it down. A huge, mud hand rises from the ground, grasps the wolf, and drags it into the ground so far that the beast can only keep its head above the Mojave sands.

“General Mud.” The elf blacksmith says, “Winter's brother.”

You cross your arms. Looking down at the beast, you realized we wasn't so tough now that he was up to his neck in a pool of mud.

That is when the creature points its mouth up and lets out a howl like a herald trumpet; red and orange embers spew out as he does so. You look over to Canis with a get-a-load-of-this-guy face, only to see your best friend casting Fifteen Bars Rest upon the summoner, temporarily silencing him.
>>
>>32845771
Before you can really react to what just happened, the iron beast launches itself from the sand and lands upon Tabula. Flashes of light burst from the summoner and with each flash, a piece of his equipment vanishes.

“Does it not amaze you?” Asks the wolf, “That a few bits of gold are all that make you strong?” He looks over to Coyote and makes another brass howl.

The trickster, in turn, grabs the glowing man with his skeletal arm and lifts him up and up into the sky, and carefully places the First Man onto a cloud. Coyote turns to iron monster and rushes forward.

You are currently between two high powered monsters that are about to fight, your best friend is being mind controlled, your most powerful party member currently has no equipment, touching the wolf will make your equipment disappear, and you can't let anything happen to the Lander standing next to you! You need to think of something, and fast.

I thought magnets or that the entire fight would be the same as the initial fight against the Phosphors or whatever it was.

The Clue gun sounded too good to be true and just HAD to only do 100 damage. No sane QM would give the player an instant win item, but then again TinyShepherd clearly isn't sane and I don't think I'd have it any other way.

You try to think. Everything was happening at once. You start to panic, WHAT THE HELL CAN YOU DO!? Then like a bolt from the heavens, you remember something from days ago.

“This is the wand from the mansion.” Plays the voice of Judicature, “Not sure if it does anything. When the NPCs used it, it would instantly kill their target...”

“JUDI!” You shout, “USE THE WAND!”

“W-What wand!?” She calls back.

“THE ONE FROM THE BEST QUEST EVER!”

Her eyes widen. She knows exactly what you are talking about. She pulls the wand out of her inventory and takes aim.

The wolf gives off a heat filled scoff. “Plebeian vendor trash is no concern of mine.” It stares down Coyote. “Come, cash cow! Your hearts are wor-”

BANG.

The stick cries out and a line is drawn from the wolf to the wand. The green bar above the monster suddenly turns black. It falls to the ground and your are suddenly deafened by the sound of a level up. You look up and a nice 40 stands above your head and next to your HP bar. You just gained 9 levels.

You look the Judi. She looks to you, then to the wand, then to the monster, then back to you. She puts the wand back into her inventory. “Now I'm gonna go home and sleep with my wife!”

You mouth out, “What?” to her, and you probably would have some more words if you didn't hear the stomping of an ever growing larger Coyote behind you.

[ ] Believe Lilac when she said Coyote isn't angry at the world, and try to calm down the creature.

[X] Believe Lilac when she said Coyote isn't angry at the world, and try to calm down the creature.

>>
>>32846273
It might not be that easy. Getting her husbando back is such a big part of Coyote's character I doubt the King in Iron will be enough. It'll be a big chunk and will calm her down a bit, but if she's a recruitable character then she'll be all about the XP like the fucking munckin whore she is.

Also, we don't know how the Databasing affected Coyote's plan. Did Coyote have to "start all over"? How much XP does a single adventurer get her? How much XP does she need? How much of a percentage in First Man Revival XP is one adventurer worth?

All of those questions are important. In the end, Coyote is a trickster, but her motives are pretty simple and we can manipulate her into working for us.

>>32846375
>[ ] Believe Lilac when she said Coyote isn't angry at the world, and try to calm down the creature.

>>
>>32846613
Coyote wouldn't be a Genius no matter what. She's just a raid boss.

Geniuses (I think) are completely new bosses that were not present in the original game and are huge meta-gamers. Normal Bosses - like Coyote, MiB, or the Goblin King - act within the lore and premises of their original design. Even MiB isn't a Genius, as for all his intelligence and apparent meta-gaming, his plan and character don't really change. He wants to control markets. How he does that is irrelevant.

Adventurers becoming sentient was probably refreshing for him as now the MiB can have plans that involving manipulating them as finitely knowledgeable sentients and not quest-completing robots with access to information online.
>>
>>32846676
They should be in all serves - they're pretty much the big bads, there to fuck everything up.

>>32846691

>>
>>32846542
>>32846547
how did we solve the dwarf drama?
>>
>>32846736
I'd think it is. I haven't read that far in the LN, but it seems from what I've heard Geniuses took out vitally important NPCs almost immediately when the Databasing occurred.

If that's not metagaming, I don't know what is. What else do you call immediately breaking the world as soon as you are tossed into it. Geniuses basically killed Gandalf, Frodo, and Aragorn as soon as they could.

>>
>>32846803

>>
>>32846784

She technically won the race but blew herself up in the process.

We also promised her that we'd both stop if the Coyote showed up. Red Strings descended o'er the city, which meant it was the Coyote, but most people had forgotten about that.

So we both pressed on. Lilac didn't seem that pissed off at the end because she won while Judi was peeved. Ensue shitstorm and enter the Coyote.

Things should be fine now thanks to the King in Iron

“WAIT!” You shout with your hands up, “WE DON'T WANT NO TROUBLE!”

The trickster stops dead in his tracks. After a couple of moments he shrinks down to your height, having dawned the appearance of the youth he was previously, naked and all.

“Wow,” You say, “That is your-” You hold up a hand to block the view of this nether regions, “Umm... Okay. Uhhh...” You try to think of something, but the sudden change has caught you completely off guard.

“What is it you wish of me, child of Man and Alv?” Speaks the creature in a voice not quite masculine or feminine.

Do we know what this means yet? It's in Shep's twitter header too, albeit reversed order
>>
>>32846887
Well, amongst the Japanese Geniuses...

There's the one who is trying to short circuit the magic runes in major cities that keep monsters out and City Guard active.

Then there's the one that is making tons of fairy rings, most likely being the reason fairy rings seem to be completely random now.

Then there's the one who's trying to get a powerful enough ice spell to freeze the whole world.

There's also one that just sits in a dungeon and duels anyone that enters, so chances are they all have their own motivation for what they're doing.

Which fucking story? Native Americans have more stories about Coyote, Rabbit, and Raven than Marvel does about Spiderman.

Rabbit is another trickster, although unlike Coyote, Rabbit uses his wits to escape foes rather than gain something from foes. And yes, Rabbit can shapeshift just like Coyote.

Basically the African American Brer Rabbit and the Looney Tunes Bugs Bunny evolved out of Native American myths. The general story is somebody (possibly Coyote, Fox, or a hunter) wants to eat Rabbit. Rabbit is almost caught, but uses clever ruses to escape and live another day.

We add in weapons so that we can kill monsters without having to go out and risk ourselves
Should make it able to take some hits, too
We try and figure out a way that can let Judi apply Overskill to handling the landship
>>
>>32847407
Landships cannot be "ridden" because they're too big FOR YOU.

If we built a smaller tank, Judi's abilities might work. I strongly suspect it'd have to be small enough that Judi and Judi alone is enough to operate it.

I think Lilac can help in this regard. It might be the need for a summoner fiddling with the engine that causes the tank to seem more like a boat to the game's logic systems.

The thing is, anon, TinyFather wants to get on with the story. The players want to get on with the landship.

Making a smaller tank that only Judi can ride seems counterproductive towards getting a way for us to safely reach our brother.
>>
>>32847489
You know what we should have tried?

To see if Judi can ride and tame the King of Iron.
>>
>>32847510
To be fair you can't exactly expect us not to love the landship.
So glad we made it - and there has to be a way to cheat so Judi can apply her skills towards it.
>>
Judi can basically ride animals, right?
Well, animals can be pretty freaking huge - if a summoner brought forth some sort of dragon, she should be able to ride it.
If she can do that, why can't she do Overskill to ride the landship?
>>
>>32847575
Can basically ride all animals, I meant.
>>
>>32847510
Timeskip. There, problem solved.

>>32847524
I dunno bout you, but when we arrive in New York, I want to have some serious firepower on our side.

Let's just spend some time working on our tanks and building one new one whenever we reach a city. By the time we get to our brother, we'll have more than enough to deal with the shit that is following him.

We already have a landship. Let's upgrade it, build a scout car or motorbike for Judi, and then head to the next city.
>>
...Wait.
Landers basically advance at about 1/4 the time of normal adventurers, right?
So, at the very least, the Lander girl should have gone up 2 levels.
Possibly more, since she's got to be weaker than what we were
>>
>>32847623

We built a tank in 3 days. We could probably do all the upgrades and scout car in a week.
>>
>>32847623
We need to have engines for the firepower, you know.
So there's a very clear limit to how many tanks we can get.
I suggest we only have the one, and just seek to constantly improve upon it after we head off from here.

Plus, since this isn't a race anymore, we can have it be a little bit slower. A scout car will make up for the speed that the BRO loses.

One more thing we should check.

I admit, having a Sailor would've been really nice in terms of improving our landship, since they'd have to be the subclass that can get Overskills to do something there.

“Could you not kill us?” You ask with an awkward smile.

“Consider it done.” He responds.

“Oh. Good. Umm... Have... any... cool loot we can have?”

He looks down to his nude body. Looks at his hands, then the back of his hands, then looks back to you. “I do not.”

“Of course.” You say, “Do you... Do know how to stop the Man in Black from mind controlling me?”

Coyote turns his head to the side, ears denoting confusion. “Did the Non-Man not care enough to tell you?” He puts his head back to its normal position. “The one you call the Man in Black is no more. He has been replaced by something.”

You have no idea how to take this news. You are both relieved, confused, and scared.

“Replaced by what!?”

“That is a thing I do not know.”

You put your hands to your head. Can you not get a single break!?

“So,” Lilac's voice comes from behind you, “What happened to the people you killed?”

“The same thing that would happen if others had killed them.” He responds to the dwarf.

You look to Lilac to see that she too is looking at Coyote, but unlike you, she is certainly not blocking her view. A short twinge of jealousy towards Coyote races through you, but it quickly dies down.

“Holy shit!” You hear Canis shout, “I've never seen so much gold!”

You look in his direction and see a large pool of gold where there was the King in Iron.

You turn back to Coyote only to see that he has vanished. “Where'd he go!?” You ask Lilac.

“He went off to be happily ever after.” She says with a small blush and a smile.

You turn back to Canis trying his best to get his McDuck on, attempting to swim in all the coins.

“Come on, babe!” He says to Aideen, “The let me shower you in my riches!”

“I'd love a golden shower.” She responds.

>ALL the people in our group should see if our abilities can be Overskilled to help the landship.

A general meeting on how to proceed is an extremely good idea. We still don't know who is in this for the long haul and who isn't. Hell, does our party even know why it's important to get to NY?
>>
>>32847997
Canis begins to crack up, looking to you to confirm that she just said that. You try to hide the huge smile on your face when Aideen looks to you, completely baffled by the reaction the two of you are having.

“What did I say!?” Aideen exclaims.

“Baby...” Canis can't help but laugh. “Baby just... Just come here.”

She does as was asked of her and Canis whispers something into her ear. Her face then goes red.

“Is it gone?” Comes a somewhat familiar voice behind you. You turn around to see a somewhat familiar woman in a white hat. It was LittleTex, the sheriff of Ekechi 51.

“Yeah.” You say. Then point to the duelist. “Judi saved the day.”

“Really!?” LittleTex responds.

“Oh yeah! You should have seen her!” You explain, “She looked right at the monster, took a hidden item from the Best Quest Ever!” You cup your hand over your mouth to better whisper, “Bet you didn't even know it was there.” You strike a heroic pose, “And there she was. Staring down the beast, wand in hand. It charged for her, but she was too fast for it! One shot. One kill! It fell like a sack of bricks!” You pause for dramatic effect. “Day? MOTHER! FUCKIN'! SAVED!”

She looks to Judicature. “Is this true?”

“Uhh... well.” Judi says. You get behind the sheriff and begin to nod Judi over and over again. Judicature meets your eyes. You stop nodding just in time for when Little looks in your direction.

She then turns back to Judicature. “Well?” Asks the Tex, “Is it true or not?”

“N...not entirely?” She says, “I... I mean, he...”

You cut off Judi “I reminded her to use the wand!” You say, “But the wand was her idea in the first place!”

“Is THAT true?” Little asks, losing a bit of patience.

“I... Yes. It is.” Judi responds.

The sheriff folds her arms and looks quite impressed. “Well I'll be damned. I didn't think you'd have it in you.”

You put your arms around LittleTex and point to Judi, “Judicature isn't the hero we deserve, but she's the hero we need in this world!”

The sheriff is, unfortunately, unimpressed. “You're laying it on a bit thick.”

“Ah. Okay.” You say, taking your arm off of her. “But my story IS true!”

The sheriff scrunches her face up in thought. “I don't have the jurisdiction to promote you, but I'll talk to the sheriff of Big Apple. You're still going for Big Apple, right?”

“Yes.” She responds.

“Yarr!” You hear, “We need chests for all this gold!”

You and the party soon begin to gather up all the gold. It came to about 3k for each of you, including Aideen. Then you all get onto the BRO, taking Lilac's M along with it.

Everyone cheers and dances and laughs.

Aideen sings a somewhat disturbing song to everyone.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SH0Fv73Ik0I

“About a maid I sing a song. Rikitty tikitty tin!

“About a maid I sing a song. She didn't have her family long!

“Not only did she do them wroooooong! But she did every one of them in!

“She did them in! She did every one of them in!”

You get to relax now. You finally get to relax. Your body feels so light. This was the relaxation of a champion. The resting of a man who has accomplished so much. It felt so good. Lilac had long ago fallen asleep on the steel silk covering of the desk.

“Aaaaagh!” Judicature suddenly cries out. “Why do so many people want to be my friend now!?”

You smile to her. “What's wrong with friends?”

She mumbles, “They're scary...”

You chuckle, but then suddenly remember something. “Didn't I bet you that you'd have a bunch of friend requests after the race?”

She looks a bit confused at you.

“Yeah, I did!” You say, now remembering, “I bet you a hundred gold!” You chuckle again, “But it's okay. You didn't bet anything, so you only lose the bet.”

She smiles at your antics.

You close you eyes. You are really tired.

You get up. “I'm gonna go talk to Tabula.”

“Okay.” Judicature responds.

You make your way to the stair down when you hear Tabula talking to someone.

“Yeah, we didn't spend nearly that much.” He says, “And the race was pretty close.” He pauses, “It's mostly made of iron. The most expensive part is the boiler, and that's only because it's made of Dragon Metal, which we have too much of already.” A pause. “Yeah, it's a tragedy that none of the raids have had any fire bosses in years.” He pauses, “Well, the set is the only one that actually looks like it could be a real suit of armor.” A pause. “I prefer to think of it as artistic in its efficiency and simplicity.” He suddenly gets a very disgruntled look on his face. “Fin, please get back on topic.” There is a long pause. “Yes. Even if we make it out of pure dragon metal it will only cost us half as much.” He pauses some more. “Alright. Talk to you later, Fin.” He turns around to see you at the top of the stairs.

You slowly walk down the steps to him. “What was that about?” You ask.

“Turns out we won the race.” He responds, “Not really, but that's going to be our story from now on.”

“What?”

“Like in all thing, money has decided the winner in this case.” Tabula explains, “While your friend did win the race, your friend's contraption requires very expensive materials we don't have. The BRO, on the other hand, is made of things we have an abundance of and we can easily dominate the market with our own brand of land-ships.” He sighs, “It's a bit immoral, but that's just the way the world works.”

You know what we deserve?

>>32850392
it would be especially good to build in elder tale too, the main drawbacks of railguns irl are the need for huge capacitors to discharge electric current at once, and rails get dammaged due to the force exerted on it by the friction of the armature,
for capacitors, we have mages who can instantly release huge amounts of electric power
and for the rails, im betting some kind of blacksmith trait would be able to repair them quickly like repairing armor
>>
>>32850430
Or we use the strongest damn metal there is. It would be pretty hard to damage something like Dragon Metal, I think.

>>32850351
Would certainly make us much more likely to succeed on our journey.

As an addendum-
For our incoming massive supertank, add an additional motor system to it of lilacs design, so we can keep moving while the steam is refueled, and so we have a functional turret.
Honestly, the combination of the designs leaves us with so many, many options.
>>
>>32850488

“Done.” Tabula says, his hand extended. You hesitate a bit, but then shake his hand.

“That easy?” You ask.

“It was what we were going to do anyways.” He says, “We're not monsters, you know. Just businessmen.”

“There isn't much of a difference is there?” You respond, semi-joking.

“We wear suits.” He says with a chuckle, “Most monsters don't do that.”

“Most.” You echo.

“It's going to be okay. In a week's time she won't even be angry anymore.”

“She's going to be incredibly angry when I tell her, isn't she?”

“Most likely.”

You sigh. You didn't want to deal with this now that you just felt like you've done everything right. “I'll tell her tomorrow.” You say, “When she's awake and I'm not tired enough to say something done.”

Tabula gives you a solemn nod.

Hey shep, mind if I give some friendly advice?
Check out a few other quests. Your writing feels a bit stilted if that makes sense. It's like you're just hitting bullet points to try and craft a narrative as opposed to using your words in a way to craft a lively scenario and a breathing world. Merc has this exact same problem.

First thing's first: You look at your friends list. You select your brother's character name, Vertigo, and hit call.

RING

RING

RING

RING

RI-

“Aaagh. Wha- Hello?” Asks the groggy and obviously had been sleeping Vertigo.

“Hey, it's me.” You say.

“Who wha? God damn it, Anthony, I was sleeping.”

“Sorry about that.” You say, “Just wanted to check up on you, ask how you're doing, and to tell you that we're heading for you now.”

“Okay.. cool...”

“Where are you by the way?”

“Umm...” He takes in a long breath “Somewhere between Big Apple and Brotherhood.”

“Oh! So you and King got out of there?”

There is a pause.

“Oh.” You say.

“We're doing the long distance thing right now.” He says.

“Long distance never works.”

There is another long pause.

“Sorry.” You say, “I'm sure things will work out just fine.”

“When the guild gets enough money to expand into Brotherhood, that's when we'll get to see each other again.”

“You think that'll happen?”

“Well, it'll happen sooner or later, I just... I'm just worried that it will be later rather than sooner.”

You sigh and start whispering so no one else on the ship can hear you. “Everything's going to work out fine. Ninety percent sure a friend of mine is about to become some high ranking officer in the Morning Star over in Big Apple. When that happens we'll just explain what happened and I'm sure everyone will just agree that it was some really bad shit that went down, but no one is at fault.”

“You think so?”

“Yeah. Just get to Brotherhood, find a nice inn to stay in for a while, and I'll be there before you know it.”

“Okay.”

“Alright.” You say, “Go get some sleep. I'm sure you've earned it.”

“Okay.”

CLICK.
>>
>>32851484
You stare up to the night sky and sigh.

Now the second biggest problem. Where the hell did Takeshi go!?

You look up and down. He seems to be nowhere on the ship. Then a sudden question creeps into your mind. If you are here, and Judi is there, WHO THE HELL IS DRIVING THIS THING!? You fling the door to the bridge and see Takeshi sitting in the chair, legs crossed, both lever full forward, and his eyes closed.

“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING!?” You shout.

“The samurai code says that a warrior should meditate every day and every night.” Takeshi responds.

“Not while you're driving it doesn't!”

Takeshi meditates on your statement.

“Stop doing that!”

“You are right.” He finally responds, opening his eyes, “The samurai code says that one should always remain vigilant.”

Your hands seemed to want to strangle the assassin so much, but you put your hands up and just exhale your frustration. “Good. Do that. Remain vigilant while driving.”

He nods. “Just as the samurai code commands.”

You headed out of the room. You needed a drink badly.

You walk over the the partying quartet and snatch up a bottle of booze. “Fuck whatever you guys were singing a second ago, we're singing Protomen now!”

Canis give you a nod and mouths the words, “Hell yeah.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBcDoZnN8ac&feature=kp

When all the singing and merriment dies down you drift off to sleep.

You wake up looking at the bright blue sky.

First, we tell her we liked her ride. She beat us fair and square. Then we tell her, that despite how awesome that ride worked, the needs to make it apparently didn't appeal to the 49ers. We tell her this is in a way, good. She gets to be unique. She's got her goddamn DwarfMobile. She's going to be the only one around in one, and everyone will be fucking Jealous. Tell her the whole situation they're gonna do, liberally reminding her that half the money is her team's. Then make sure that we then give her a hug, saying we're sad the 49ers aren't picking her model, but goddamn it is cool.

Magical Girl Noir Quest
Peter Parker Quest

Banished Quest
Deniable Assets Quest

Are probably the best written quests currently running.

He uses sighs, shrugs, and eye rolling like periods. It's not so much the world building or lack thereof that bother me about Merc it's that reading dialog exchanges feels like a chore because he treats it like a script rather than a book like quests should feel like (in my opinion).

You slowly get up to your feet, the steel silk wobbles slightly beneath your feet. Brushing the stuff from your eyes, you look around. Judi is missing from the deck. You conclude she's probably driving right now.

You notice Lilac standing near the edge of the ship, arms resting on the railing.

You look down, arms at your side, trying to think of what to say.

Play it cool? Just go over there and say, Hey, I heard you lost, unlike me, who won, cause I'm awesome.

That's not cool at all, that just makes you sound like an asshole.

Perhaps just be honest? Hey, so, you won, but you lost. The 49erS are assholes, but they're paying us off for it.

Yeah, that sounds a bit better. Perhaps throw in some praise for her Dwarf Mobile? Yeah! Now that's a plan.

You head over to where she is, leaning down onto the railing. “Hey.” You say.

“Hello.” She replies.

“So, the race, right?”

“Riiiight?”

“Well, okay. Umm...” The plan you had just moments ago devised seems to have fluttered away from your mind. “You won.” You finally blurt out, “But you didn't win.”

“What... do you mean?”

“I mean that. Okay, hear me out completely first. You beat us. You won the race, right?”

“I certainly remember that, yes.”

“Okay, well, the 49erS don't like your car and they want to sell the,” You make air quotes. “'Best' racer, so they're saying I won instead of you because they can mass produce my design, but not your design.”

You steel yourself for the coming storm. You could feel it deep inside. She's going to yell and scream and thrash and gnash!
>>
>>32852318
“Oh. Okay.” She says, “It makes sense from a business perspective.”

You would not be undone by her tricks. You continue to brace yourself.

“What are you doing?” Lilac asks.

“I'm readying myself for your sorcerer rage.”

She stares at you in silence, blinking a few times before she speaks again. “I'm not angry if that's what you mean.”

You ease your body. “Wait. Really?”

“Really.”

You bend down trying to examine the dwarf closer. You carry an unsure face as you try to determine if she is really okay with this, or secretly burn-the-world angry.

“Do you really not believe me?” She asks.

“I don't know yet.”

“Look, I didn't do this for fame or glory or money or... or anything! I did it so...” She goes silent and then goes back to staring off into the distance. “Forget it.”

“Just tell me.” You say, “It'll make you feel better.”

She looks to you, looks down at her feet, looks off to the horizon, then back to you. “I just...” She looks back down, hand on her head. “You can't tell this to anyone.”

You gotta know the answer, so you nod. “Okay.”

She sighs, looks up to the sky, chews on her lips a little and finally says, “I needed to prove to myself that I can still get things done. I... I don't really work in weapons design for the government. Well, I mean, I did, but I don't anymore. I was fired.”

“And?”

She mumbles, “And I was fired because I wasn't good enough anymore.”

You motion over to the chrome machine. “You built that. You raced it. It is the fastest racer in the west. Who cares what a bunch of old government dudes think about your stuff? You can do amazing work! Hell, with me and you working together, we can make the biggest fuck-huge land-ship the world has ever seen!”

She opens her mouth to say something, but then she just smiles. “I guess you're right.”

“Damn straight I'm right! That's the philosophy of not giving a fuck!” You pose and point to the sky, “Who gives a shit what other people think! As long as you know you can get the work done, you can do it!”

She chuckles, “Judi explained it a bit differently, but I guess you are right all the same.”

“Damn straight.” You repeat.

“We should get to work blueprinting your fuck-huge land-ship, then.”

“Hell yeah, mother fucker.”

It doesn't matter. There's no way in hell the adventurer population is respecting copyright on a steam engine. There might be a short duration where it makes the dudes money but they aren't managing some grand steam empire without ALOT more swindling.
>>
>>32852818
I was quite concerned that no one would remember as I didn't even remember until I was explaining my quest to a friend. Then when I got to the Murder Mansion, I suddenly remembered the wand.

I went back in the archive to make sure that Judi had actually explained what it was and how it worked before leaving the hint.

Looking back, I'm really surprised that no one in the thread even made mention of it. People were too busy arguing about guild logistics to notice what I just gave them, I guess.
>>
>>32852923
...I wonder if we can make more of that thing.

I think speculation was that it was dealing 100 damage and that's it.
The fact that it was insta-kill is really damn awesome, happy we managed it.
And hey, if Coyote is no longer fucking with people because the First Man is back?
Means that travel will be much safer, so suddenly night travel is possible.
>>
>>32853008
Yes.

The 100 damage caveat was more of a contingency if you guys did something crazy, like try to shoot the moon or the earth with it.

I really did mean it to be a total and free one-shot anything stick, which is also why I only gave it one charge.

>>
>>32854071
We didn't Beware the Grinning Man.

Instead, we stole his map to win our race, and made lots of money.

>>
>>32853985
Killing a Genius is pretty much pure benefit.
They're the ones killing the Ancients, and fucking up everything.
Now there's only 89 left in the world, and not all of them are awake.
>>
>>32854110
Killing something is very, very rarely only a benefit in an ecosystem.

I believe that Log Horizon is just that--an ecosystem.

Geniuses serve a purpose--one and all, even if we don't know what it is yet. Remember, to the Landers, this world always existed. Nothing is without it's purpose.

We also know comparatively little about Genius level mobs. Maybe there are always 90 of them in the world. If you kill one, maybe another is created.

Or I'm just full of shit. I only watched the anime. I haven't read the LNs.
>>
>>32854184
The biggest problem I have is that, I'm not sure either. It has yet to be explained and they only really show up in the Over Seas side-story, which only a hand full of chapters have been translated (That I can find).

Really, Geniuses haven't been explained in much detail, but what we know is this:

They are trying their best to fuck up PCs for some reason.

Most of them seem to be level 89-90.

The majority of them have the ability to control creatures made during the first and second World Fractions, namely Monsters and Beast Men (Foxtails, Werecats, and Wolf-Fangs).

They all refer to Landers as being non-people. Their words for them change, but the overall implications they make are that NPCs aren't people. They are "spawn of nothing" or "tokens".

Current fan theory is they have something to do with the 6 Scrap Princesses.

There really isn't much to go on, so there is a distinct chance that one day there's going to be something that happens that completely invalidates the three.
>>
>>32854374
How do they treat adventurers?
Or Ancients?
>>
>>32854374
>Second World Fraction.

Fuck shit. The second world fraction was adventurers showing up, not beast men. The first was beast men AND monsters, which is why people think the Scrap Princesses are involved.

Scrap Princesses did 9/11

>>32854476
>How do they treat adventurers?
Complete hostility, as far as I can tell.

>Or Ancients?
Complete hostility alongside calling them non-people. There are 13 Ancients (1 for each server), only 1 has been confirmed still alive, the rest are assumed to have been killed by the Geniuses, if not something worse.

{spoiler]This is hella late, since I just got into the thread, but I just wanted to make a quick suggestion/give a warning. When you're browsing those threads, pay attention to the early writing quality vs newer examples. I'll hold DAQ up here as an example because its new enough that its easy to power through and old enough for Fall Guy (its QM) to have had time to evolve his writing style. And that's just it: style. It has a certain on-again, off-again, intense/cavalier writing style that suits the character and subject matter very well. All Fall Guy did was refine it. I kind of agree with the initial anon that you're writing is stilted, but I want to also point out that it does a pretty damn good job of characterizing Ambrosis as an autistic, slightly chaotic stupid individual WHILE STILL MAKING HIM LIKEABLE AS A CHARACTER. Which is fucking impressive. So whatever you choose to take away from studying other people's writing, remember: evolve your own writing, don't copy others.[/spoiler]
