OPENING

Previously: Cerulean arrived upon a mysterious island after a mission to rescue shipwrecked personnel had gone awry due to mysterious humanoid monsters.

Meeting the natives, Cerulean found aid in the form of a humanoid monster by the name of Kurojo, a tusked Kahkori of Kakarkiko island.

With his and his uncle's help, she had been reunited with Marine, her friend from training and childhood.

After killing a fierce foe reviled by Kahkori, Cerulean fell ill, and was given a cure by Kurojo. In the village, she learned of a strange ability and found herself able to utilize "Aura."

Journeying with Kurojo, Cerulean and Marine make it to the joint city of races amongst the island chain. It is there in Raguna city that she fights to the death with a rambunctious Smolderan.
Slipping out of her right mind, she executes her foe with absolute certainty, earning her some recognition with a Smolderan leader and the right to engage in a hunting exam at his request.

Cerulran takes a test with another species known as the Araraki, an infallibly polite and timid representative of her people.
Upon completing the hunt, they are put through a naming ceremony and engage in some festivities, taking a somewhat heavier turn as Akabaron, Vi-Smohkan of the Smolderan, goes over his deal with Cerulean.

Charter the construction of a boat with Kurojo's aid...

Alright, it's up.

So, we're going to pick up Marine's armor, wait for ours to arrive, then notice the index is gone and ask Kurojo who's been in our room the past few days, right?

I assume we might have to ask some Smolder, who may or may not cooperate. What was the thing Akabaron told us to tell them if they were uncooperative?
>>
>>32885590
We do sort of need to figure out the index mystery.
>>
>>32885500
Also to answer your question from the twitter, NO i like the way it is now. Even if it makes sex scenes and such awkward all you need to do is fade to black those.
>>
>>32885621
Just about to ask that....

Switching from 2nd person to 3rd person semi-omnicient.

Y/N?

I'm only thinking of it because the wording is weird for when things happen to Ceru. Like seduction.
>>
>>32885621
>Not wanting to read about how kurojo lovingly caresses you with aura while giving small, tender, pecks.
>>
So who's gonna fix the pastebin to show +3 instead of +2 because the horns benefit ice skills?
>>
>>32885652
Keep it the way it is. The perspective shift would be far stranger, IMHO of course, than the way the writing would change.
>>
>>32885621
Hey, Ygg doesn't write sex; the gypsy caravan does.

>>32885652
I honestly want to see what it would look like.

Let's see it for this thread, then we'll decide afterwards if we prefer it or not.
>>
>>32885652
Leave it as is
>>
>>32885652
I like it the way it is, myself.
>>
>>32885652
NO
>>
>>32885652
Is it a permanent shift or is it for specific scenes?
>>
>>32885737
Was thinking of a permanent shift. Though I guess if I just made it temporary for things like that, it'd be a fair compromise.
>>
>>32885652
Eh, nah. It'd be too jarring.
>>
>>32885652
Test it out, then all of us will see.
>>
>>32885737
>>32885764
shifting for specific scenes would be a good way to do it, especially if it's done during scenes where we're not entirely in control like mentioned.
it fits.
>>
>>32885779
It's not really something that needs to be tested. It's a switch from 2nd person to 3rd person. If you know how to read and write, you'll know how it comes out.
>>
>>32885764
I would not want it to be permanent. I like being in the head of our protag, and moving to third person would, honestly make me less attached to our crazy cat-seal thing, whom is adorable.
>>
>>32885798
Some writers write better in certain perspectives.
>>
>>32885764
Prof let me just say this. You set the tone of the story with your perspective. Maybe not all of the tone, but a lot of it. Shifting perspectives can shift the tone of your story by quite a bit. Personally i wouldn't unless you felt it absolutely necessary to do so.

Also what brought on this sudden desire to change perspectives anyway?
>>
>>32885883
And Prof is asking about it since he thinks it would be awkward for scenes like what happened with Hao.

The feel would be changed too, which is one of the complaints many of the anons here are raising up.
>>
>>32885935
>>32885953
The tone change works in some places, which is why I suggest using perspective where it works rather than going always one way or another.
>>
You shift about uncomfortably in your seat, keeping eye contact with the pearly finish of the Araraki's mask. Her head is tipped down slightly, showing her obvious embarrassment at speaking not only up, but against. She's gone silent now, letting her broken speech and accusatory inclination sink in.
Marine's lost as usual due to her ignorance of even Raguna common.
Kurojo gives you look of subtle concern while leering at the Araraki. The bird is the first to speak, after all, he -is- speaking for you to an extent.

“Are you speaking for yourself, or Serebyi?” His tone is modular, and he scrutinizes the lizard. An impatient twitch about her tail giving a physical clue to her lack of confidence.

She hisses out a slight breath, and angles her head to the red bird, her leather robes clinging tightly to her body, the oiled straps shimmering sweat in the late morning sun as it peeks through a great window of the upturned ship made guild hall. “We speak... For lost... Glass City old evil...” Her eyes gleam, catching you in her peripherals.
You see that her eyes have a strange pattern within the iris, like a flower blooming and a pupil at the center. It's not the eye of a lizard. “Free. Do not return.”

“Free” That word make you and Marine tremble for a moment. They'd been hanging in some dark corner within you like some kind of guilty pleasure. As much as it feels wrong, you've had fun being away from the dome, seeing places you'd never seen, meeting those you would never dream.

Two fierce Smolder send up a roar as they put their strength to the test in an arm wrestle, claws digging into the table, a dull grinding as their claws shred the wood. The arms at battle heat up, burning and scorching each other with the infernal heat of their bodies singing the air.
It's to this sight that Marine turns her head, going silent as you speak with the Araraki. Your dear friend already knows what you'll say.

“Why?” Kurojo translated nearly as quickly as you ask. “I've got friends, and family, and my boss there.” You come out of your wanting haze, burying back the innate desire for freedom. It's a passing daydream, not something to aspire to. You have things to be do.

The Araraki turns her head away, covering her vision of you with a pristine scaly hand, human if not for the dermis and nails at the end. “Evil. Bad. You from. But not bad. Should no-”

You cut her off with simmering anger, a slam upon the table nearly making her shed her skin, “Why? Why is it bad? What did they do?!”
Kurojo chitters hastily, his translation laced with your anger.

In the battle of the two smolder, one of them flips the other one down into the floor, taking a chunk of table with him. The victor stands and laughs, his claw still ablaze from their contest. The heat makes the air distort and twist in pain. Marine claps for the winner, and leaves your table, intent to give it a shot.

“Marine-”Your voice follows your friend, yet as the spiral finned and feathered tail, sways back and forth at her backside, she doesn't look back.

A wave is offered, “I'm gonna go play. Tell me when you're done.” Her voice of mirth is damp with melancholy.
Marine understands what's going on now. She as she sits on the broken half of the table, muddying her hand as she challenges the winner. Some of the smolders laugh, but the victor, one with his dark fur broken with yellow stripes and missing a part of his nose sits on down, ready to put your friend to shame.
>>
You hear a sizzle, and their contest begins.

The Araraki's peripheral gaze followed after Marine. You can sense a modicum of relief from the lizard. But why? “Glass people... Do bad thing. Serebyi cry. Arceus mad. Sky rain fire. Freeze land. Sky light tear earth. We have stories. Erm... Elder tell story. Elder tell better. Please... Do not return...”

Regardless of what's been done generations ago, we're still going back.

>>
>>32886772
Yeah, we've built up a pretty loyal and patriotic persona so far. And since she's just a friend/acquaintance at this point, Ceru won't necessarily have the presence of mind to hold herself back for the sake of political niceties.

Still, seems like a colder reaction would have been more appropriate. Gotta follow that ice theme, Prof!
>>
>>32886823
I wouldn't say patriotic. Loyal to our friends/mom/boss yes, but to go so far as patriotic no, i really wouldn't.

>>
>>32886987
They're only gods until someone get's a Sword of Akasha. Then they're just really strong entities.

Basically, once something is killable, then it is no better than anyone else and thus has no right to say what we should do.
>>
“I'm sorry,” You catch yourself in a sneer and let out a calming hiss of breath, closing your eyes for a moment of meditation to allow yourself time to simmer down. How dare she say that Arceus hates people of the dome though... He's supposed to love everyone. Then again, they also say that Arceus is human...
Opening your eyes, you train them upon the Araraki. Her posture doesn't hint any preparedness to run away or flee like when you first met. She must've prepared herself for this conversation. “Who are your people?” You blink, the Araraki over once more, from the oiled leathers, to the twisted bone mask, concealing those flower-patterned irises. “And why would you say something like this?”

As Kurojo translates, her head dips down, and she fiddles with her fingers nervously, as though she wants to say something, yet can't think of the right words. Instead, a hand slips down into her robes, and she looks at you directly for the first time. “Elder said... We.” She points to herself, but when she does, you feel as though she points to -all- of herself. “We know evil. We repent now. We... a-are guardians.”

“You repent?” You narrow your eyes. The ruckus coming from the Smolder table reaches a new hype as Marine, with her arm caked in crumbling dirt smashes the far larger smolder into the floor. She jumps onto what's left of the table, and pumps up a fist, letting the cracked mud explode into a small crowd of dust. Some Smolder laugh, others cheer. It's a title of merriment and good fun compared to what you have going on over here.

The Araraki nods ignoring the distraction.

Yet she gives you no further words, pushing you to inquire further, “Can others repent?”

She nods, “Do not go back.”

Not what you really wanted to hear... You sigh and lower your vision to the table before you. This is getting exhausting. She's saying things that's getting under your skin, yet she's nonetheless undisturbed save for the glances she makes between you and Marine. “Do not go back” she says. As if it's that easy. And.. “What do you have to repent for?”
You affix your vision back to her, a deadpan glare. “You just keep saying that they've done bad things, but what do we have to repent for?”

Kueojo translates and looks back to you, as though he wants to ask something, yet he doesn't.

“What bad they do?” She answers your question with a question, yet it almost sounds accusatory despite her shy, demeanor. She passes a look over to the exit, betraying where she'd like to go.

You begin to answer, or at least think of one. You start thinking... And then you think of yourself. If Silph caught a young Araraki, wouldn't they make a ranger out of them? If Silph caught a young Kahkori, wouldn't they cut it apart? The thought makes you pale, and puts a quash to your anger as you gain perspective.
Didn't they mention that Goldie's implant was from a humanoid? It'd be a baby...

With a swallow,” W-who do you guard? A guardian guards something, right?”
>>
Kurojo watches you for a moment, offering a hand for your shoulder that you give a dim acknowledgement. He translates and the Araraki looks up, closing her eyes beneath the mask as though to bathe in a light from above.
“We guard... People... Nature. Take what need. Return what do not. Repent so Serebyi return. Guard so Gods never angry.”

Kurojo butts in now, “Tuskless say that they are Arceus's chosen.”

“No one. All cursed. All need repent. Glass City does not.”

Well, before that, we still need to get our equipment. Then we'll find out about our missing index and will need to go look for it.

It was missing right when we woke up, so it was either taken by the butler or during the time we were unconscious. We'll need to ask Kurojo about who came and went into our room during that time.
>>
>>32888262
Nah, the dude is sending it to us, they took it off when they gave us the dress.

Even if they did take it off, stealing among the smolder is a sure way to get yourself killed, because mon weapons are priceless tools and treasures.

>>32888300
When we woke it up and put it on before leaving, though, Ceru felt like something was missing.

>You and Marine get on her peasant grass skirt and you, your armor, for what it's worth. You get the feeling that something is missing, but it just feels good to be back in some kind of clothing, even if you're going to be wearing something else when you get to the Governer's hall.

Let's bring Marine with us.

>>
>>32888438
Well you know, maybe if we didn't actually have a practical thing to worry about, we'd pursue the things you want us to chase after. But we can't because we do have things to take care of.
>>
“I can't...” You begin to shake your head, affirming your own convictions even amidst your wavering heart. “I have friends and family there. I can't just leave them. I can't just not go back.” You can't help the twitch at the corners of your mouth into a frown. You start tearing up as Marine cheers again after winning another round.
She's making this much harder than it needs to be... As much as she wants to stay. As much as you both want freedom... Duty calls you back. Back to the dome.

“I'm sorry, but I just can't. No matter what Arceus has in mind, or what you think your Serebyi wants, I can't abandon my friends, family, and the ones I protect.” You hald a hand over your breast, over your heart, “I'm a guardian too. Can you really say that it's so wrong?”

As Kurojo relays the message, the Araraki falters, shuddering as she shakes her head. “No. Not wrong. Not bad. Misguided.” She stands to leave, looking back at you a mournfully, as though you were a lost child. No. Because you are a lost child.
“We help hunt. No help return. Bye.” She makes for the door, slithering between tables as she exits. Her parting words a double promise, yet one made in ignorance. The hunt is going to help you return. It is.

You let out the air that's gone stale in your lungs, and rise from the table, looking over to the one with Marine facing yet another Smoldering challenger, steam rising from her hand as she does battle against fiery might with her own of the marshes.

Jojo follows after, quiet for the most part as he senses your atmosphere. “Marine, come on. We're going to g see if your gear's ready.”

“Hold on Ceru... This one's a toughie...” She strains herself, veins popping out from her brow, her armored forearm shaking from the might of her foe.
>>
Across from her is a slender Smolder, you recognize her as Akabaron's stewardess, Nala. Her fiery claws rip the moisture from Marine's protection and the slender Smolder's musculature brimming with an equally deceptive might as she matches Marine dead in the center.

Watching for a moment, you realize this may take a bit and pull up a chair, Kurojo stands.
“You wanna go next?” He whispers to you, a slight chuckle to his word to try to dispel your mood.

“No.” You state flatly, “I'm not as strong as her.”

Marine's dirt protection begins to come to the completion of its bake before crumbling away. Marine sweats from the heat and pain as her skin begins to sizzle in contact with the female Smolder's burning claw.

“You can stop anytime cub. I'm stronger than most of the men here.” Nala's words purr, yet her upper lip's curled to reveal a fang, her brow lowered and wrinkled, her ears held low and twitching. She's giving it her all too.

“Ugh... Stop taking... I can't understand a word you're saying!” Marine yells and forces the claw back.

“You should stop.” You advise, but you can already tell that she won't listen. She's playing their game, and she wants to win. She's enjoying it, even despite the unfair advantage the Smolder has.

All eyes are on her too. It looks like some Smolders are placing bets, it's likely that they're against Marine.

“You really should stop.” You say again, though it's to yourself, and not for what she might think. She really needs to stop having fun... It'll just be harder to leave.

Marine growls and summons up more strength, forcing Nala's claw back centimeter by centimeter. Some of the Smolder hold their breath, bite a lip, tighten claws. They've got a lot riding on this. Can she do it? Can Marine win? Who's going to lose their bet?

Then Nala's grip tightens, engulfing Marine's hand in flame as she forces back progress, even going so far as to bring her but an inch from the surface of the table, twisting Marine's arm back, and forcing the fight into a disadvantage. Marine starts to hiss and pant against the heat and pain. The smell of cooking fish fills the air.

“Come on cub. Just a bit more and it won't hurt anymore...”
>>
“Sht...hmph!” Marine yells and twists her arm back, looking to finish it with sheer strength, yet Nala stops her at the even point before bringing on steady progress again.

You rest your head in your hands, wondering if they have anything like burn heal around here. It's starting to look like Marine'll need it. Potent stuff too.

Her shelled arm smashes against the table, sending Marine over the edge for the first time. Nala raises her unused arm with a fist, letting the “combatant” rest as its earned the right. All you can ponder is how strong exactly this female must be if she can overpower Marine of all people...

Picking your friend up off the ground, she winces at her scorched right hand, a pad of dust in the shape of Nala's claw flaking away, leaving the rest burned a bit darker.

“Happy?”

Marinr gives you a dauntless thumbs up with her unburnt hand, “You know it! I'll get her next time Ceru! All the other ones were chumps!”

Nala approaches, opening her arms as the spectating Smolder gather around, “Glory be to the challenger, Ultramarine! She's been my best match yet!” The smolder's arms come down, favoring the exhausted one. “You scrubs need to redouble your clawfighting. Cub puts your flame and strength to shame.”

Nala and Marine bump knuckles. The two seem to understand each other even without Aura. It baffles you somewhat that they seem so close, but you don't question it. You're really not in the mood to.

“Marine, we're going on a hunt. We need to get your gear.”

Marine's eyes nearly sparkle at the word,” Oh really? Oh, oh, can we bring back a trophy or something? I really want to show them something. What do you think they'd respect more? A head? Wait, head might be too big. An eye? Too squishy. A tooth? Ah, that's perf-”

“Marine.” You grab your friend by the shoulders. “We need to focus right now. We need to get things to go home.”
>>
Marine stares at you for a moment, the joy draining from her face slowly but surely as she understands. “Yeah. Okay... By the way, have you seen my index?”

It occurs to you suddenly- that's what you were missing. That's what wasn't there when you put your armor on today. Hao's... influence hazed your mind at the time, but you were definitely missing it.

“Our indexes... Are gone?” You lock up, and slowly release Marine, looking around at all the faces in the room, Kurojo and Nala specifically trained on yours. “Who took it?” You ask with a grim spectre looming about in your heart.

“Jojo, you were awake, right? Did you see anyone take our indexes?” Your CGS is missing too. With it, and with the index, you're lacking not only your index, but your repel-tech. You feel vulnerable all of a sudden, naked.

Kurojo shakes his head,”No... I didn't see anyone take it... I came back when you were in the infirmary, remember?”

>Who took your gear? If you choose to point your finger, you may insult someone...

Be back in like 20.
>>
>>32889322
Oh, poor marine.
These fire games are no fun.
>>32889357
I don't know who took our gear. I don't want to insult people, so let's start by asking the smolders that watched us if it was still on us at that time.
>>
>>32889357
Well, we don't know who entered our room, so Yasake is a prime culprit. He, aside from Nala and Akabaron, would be the only one who knows what the index was or to even look for it since, for all appearances, the index would have been integrated into our armor.
>>
>>32889357
>>32889401
Question, Prof
>Kurojo shakes his head,”No... I didn't see anyone take it... I came back when you were in the infirmary, remember?”
I thought Kurojo spent the entire time with us? Is this referring to the time when he left to clean up?
>>
>>32889357
Yeah I don't really feel comfortable accusing anyone.

Also, why were so many people passing up free worldbuilding earlier?
>>
didn't an old kakhhori undress us when our change started?
>>
>>32889420
We've got stuff to do. Like finding out where our index is.
>>
>>32889420
Because they felt that going to see the elder meant we would never go back to the Dome.
>>
>>32889420
Let's hope we run over the worldbuilding again later.
>>
>>32889441
That's stupid.
>>
>>32889429
Presumably, tampering or touching other hunters' equipment would be frowned down upon within the guild. So I think we can just look over the other guild members for now.

Only the ones who would know to look for the index are Akabaron and Hao's groups. Akabaron doesn't have a motivation to do so, unless he wants us to get suspicious towards the tuskless.

>>32889357
>>32889401
Make sure to tell Nala about this. She knows about the index. Tell her we need it to get back home (since it's the only way we can call other Rangers).
>>
>>32889484
It is. And it isn't the reason why people voted against it. Read it over instead of just believing whatever any bitter anon says. No one wanted to waste any more time on it since we had other things we needed to do. Pragmatism.
>>
>>32889488
Yeah, it's okay to tell her as long as we don't accuse her.

Since it IS important and only we know how to use it properly.
>>
>>32889484
>>32889441
Let's just hope we get the chance to hear the stories later under less charged circumstances. Or when we have other business to take us to the elders.

Possibly map/sailing/monster boat creation related business.
>>
>>32889519
There's the shortwave radio too and possible information on the geography of Kanto. Just general encyclopedic stuff, perhaps, but it'd be good for finding landmarks to guide us.
>>
>>32889536
Now that I think about it, we ARE going to have to talk with the arakai about monster-based boat techniques.
THAT is the perfect time for the elder to talk to us about his things.
Hints, prof!
>>
>>32889505
But I don't really see how that would be wasting time, it's not like we'll be able to go home any time soon.

Also, even if the people in power do some shady shit, condemning the whole population indiscriminately is the actions of a monster.
>>
>>32889640
Wasting thread time.
>>
>>32889640
You know how long it takes Prof to write, right?

At the pace he's going, it'd have taken us another thread or two just to address the issue of our missing index if we let him take us to the Araraki elder for an info dump. And that's wasted time both inside and outside the story to look for the index. IC, it's better to start sooner rather than later on finding our stuff.
>>
I say we go to Akabaron over this. have him helps us look for it. assuming he isn't the one that had it stolen in the first place.

Yasake is also a possible suspect and it might explain why Hao seemed to drop his interrogation/seduction to quickly...
>>
>>32748419
After Yasake showed up.
It was the braided Smolder that was handling our stuff while we were incapacitated, it seems. I don't mistrust him, but it'd be worth asking if he remembers seeing it and when the last time was, since he's probably here, and it's a lot easier to ask him then start investigating the fucking palace and it's servants.
>>
>>32889357
>>32889401
>>32889488
>>32889795
These. It'd be good to ask the Smolder with the braids too, just so that we can have a valid time stamp.

More likely they'll take it really seriously because to hunters their weapons are their life, so stealing is akin to robbing someone of most everything they are.

Think about how rare and important their weapons are to them.

Also more likely a ferrine to take it.

Smolders are to warrior honor strength to steal.

Kahkori are to HONOR to steal.

Araraki are to scared to steal.

They might have just taken off our armor to make it easier for us to evolve, and forgotten to replace it.

Thread 43.
>>
>>32890657
Hunters may have an unspoken rule against touching, tampering with, and stealing each other's stuff (given the spoiler in Prof's last post, this seems to be the implication).

Unless they had a reason to, they wouldn't take our index. Akabaron's group can be suspected since he seemed quite a bit frustrated when we couldn't tell him how our tech worked. Hao's group is just as suspicious; a game of shadows and all that crap.

It depends on how willing and patient Akabaron is to play the long game and how interested Hao is in learning about us.
>>
Rattling your brain for suspects, you try to remember everything you can of the past few days beyond the sleeping and the pain.

You celebrated your initiation into the Hunters, and drank with Akabaron. You started to feel the oncoming pains of evolution then.

You and Marine played a losing game with a Smolder and puked your guts out.

You retired to bed, talking with Kurojo. Your evolution began that night.

The morning, you woke up to pain and could barely move, a braided Smolder undressed you while you slept... The braided Smolder?

Wait, Kahkori took care of you too, they helped with making you comfortable. Something felt missing when you armored up. It went missing sometime within that three day period. But who... Kurojo was by your side the entire time...

Marine pomders over your expression, you mite at your claw as you think, finding your eyes fall upon Nala. It couldn't hurt to ask.

With a step forward, you look up at the beastly woman, her ember cat eyes looking down upon you in recognition. Her unrestrained gaze forces a bit of meekness out of you, yet you're steadfast. “Ahoy firs' mate. I seem t'be missin' a certain piece o' me gear. I woun't reckon you'd 'ave a clue 'bout it?”

Nala's face contorts into a bit of a scowl,” Didn't I tell you not to talk? That broken sailor speak is loathsome, reminds me too much of the accursed water.” She squishes her eyes shut and shudders at the thought.

“Y' know sometin' or y' don't” You shrug, “Need me an' answer mate.”

She snorts fire from her nose, blistering the air with ember trails as she affixes her gaze upon you with cruel and condescending undertone,”That a threat, cub? Did your salt-lashed teacher give you any manners?”
>>
>>32890727
Fine whatever.
We'll ask Jojo, the other Kahkori and the braided Smolder.
>>
Her malice unnerves you, making you take a step back whilst she takes a step forward. Kurojo steps in front of you, holding you back as he stands tough for a moment before he's breathing a powerful Smolder woman's brimstone. “Stand aside Kahkori, the cub fights your battles for you, remember?”

Kurojo looks down, and you start to push past until he pushes back. “We're missing something. We have a thief in the guild. She's just asking a question. Would you know anything about it?”

Nala rescinds her fury within the blink of an eye, seeming unnaturally docile,”Ah, is that it?” She laughs, “Could barely understand with that salted tongue of hers.” Her claws wrap around Kurojo's throat, he's thrown aside like a ragdoll before he can find a proper counter, coughing at the rough treatment.
“If I find the culprit, would you be willing to kill them?” She lowers herself to look you in the eye.

You remember Yellow, and you swallow, suddenly unsure. It's all she needs.

“Smolders demand that when one has grievance with another, they fight. The stronger one is the one that is right. Yellow had grievance with your friend, and the Kahkori had grievance with him. Then you had grievance when he forbade you from approaching the Vi-Smokhan. He is dead, the difference is settled. If you do not know who stole, then they must either think you weak, and rightly so as you've misplaced your life's tools, or they are prepared already to die for the grievance they have bestowed upon you.
Either way. One less hungry mouth.” She says that final word with a cool resolution, as if she's made peace with the fact that she's just one among many of her people. For a moment, you feel a familiarity with her. You're the same to an extent. If you died, you'd just be one less ranger to the dome. Though the ones that love you...
>>
You look over the Smolder-woman's face. A calm picture of feral might and martial prowess wrapped into one canvas. She rises, the ultimate killing machine, and walks past you,”I will look into it.”

Marine waves with her good hand, “See ya miss kitty! We need to wrestle again!”

Arceus-dammit Marine... You touch your brow in frustration.

We don't urgently need it and she said that she would look into it.

Also does this mean that we get all of Yellows shit?

Yeah, about as expected. Who else can we talk with about this? I still sort of want to ask the braided guy if he saw anything.

So I guess by the fact that we didn't even bring up Yasake that you thought it was completely irrelevant to the situation?

She said she would look into so let's give her a chance. Also another hunt will prove to her we're not weak.

>>32890926
Some sleight of hand, maybe. It depends on how strong we're to believe Hao's close servants are. But yeah, we can go with that. Double checking, the only clue that any of our stuff had gone missing was when Ceru put on her armor.

For all we know, an Araraki my have taken it. Our friend was rather dead set against us returning to the Dome, after all. May have thought it was important to us and taken it "for our own good".

Taking what Nala said to heart you turn your thoughts inward again. Honor. They've been talking about that a lot. If you call out a thief, they'd challenge you right? If it were a Kahkori or a Smolder... An Araraki thought? No, the thought of one of those timid folk stealing doesn't seem likely.

Stepping up onto a table, you can smell the fumes of the alcohol burning from Smolder maws, the high proof stinking up the room, the meat cooking on spits over a fire... All eyes wary of you, looking upon your preened and curled hair, silken golden dress, turn to you as you take in a deep breath with your emasculate feminine.

“WHICH ONE A' YOU BARNIES TOOK ME GEAR! AH'LL SMASH YER HEAD IN, SWEAR IT ON ME MUM! YE THIEVIN' COWARDS!” Your call for challenge quiets the hall, and you now have one hundred percent attention upon you.

Many of the eyes are attached to gaping maws, and other drunken onlookers.

The entire place explodes into laughter at the incredibly odd scene. You standing up upon a table, bellowing out challenge in a noble's finery.

“Get off the table!”

“Take it off, I'll tell you who did it!”

“Yeah, what he said!”

“Not if I smash yer head in first, wench!”

“Is that the Blachne Diab?! I'd wreck that!”

You look about the room at the many faces, trying to feel out any suspicious or unnerved auras. Instead you find many that are hysterical, while some are angered by such an insult, and others? You'd really rather not think about... Nothing comes up, and none meet your challenge. By the time you come down, cheeks flushed a deep blue, you whisper to Kurojo and Marine, “Let's just go.”
Could today get any worse?

I'm surprised the Smolder had the presence of mind to speak in common. Must have really wanted Ceru to hear their catcalls.
>>
>>32891696
The nerves that control the feet are located near the part that does pleasure? Maybe?
>>
>>32891696
I can understand it to an aesthetic sense, but only in terms of how it would compare to the whole body. I just...I just can't get into it when it's really feet focused.
>>
>>32891696
That's an actual fetish, or paraphilia. Most of the shit people call fetishes aren't really, they are just preferences. Real fetishes are things like feet that are inexplicable.
>>
>>32891696
The feet are one of (if not the most) sensitive non ergenous zone on the body.

Deriving sexual pleasure from stimulation of them is quite easy if you get over the stigma.

Then there's also the domination aspect.
>>
You set out into the city at Kurojo's behest, asking one of the few that didn't witness your display where the smith is and follow him with your head low. Your dress catches the eye of many a passersby.
A couple black ferrine start tailing you, waddling up behind you and mewing out a song to attract your attention. You ignore them, and swat at them with your spiked tail, keeping them at bay like flies.

“So, uh, White...”

“What Jojo?”

“I could help you fix your common...”

“... please do.” You say, pulling at the dress.

As you and Kurojo go over fixing some of your words, Marine spreads a salve from one of the Kahkori doctors to help her hand's burn heal. Though she seems thoughtful, admiring the damage done that's in the shape of Nala's claw.

“Think I should keep it? I'd just have to use less ointment or something.”

“Why would you want to do that Marine?” You say, starting to feel like a mother or something.

She just shrugs,” I dunno. I think it looks cool. And uh, her name is Nala, right? She's awesome. I wanna be like her.” Marine smiles, entertaining her own careless fantasies.

You begin to wonder if she's being serious about this or not. Maybe it's just because she can't understand anyone? As you walk through the city, with the sun sweltering down high and hot in the sky, you don't bother to ask. You don't want to know the answer. You just want to get home so you don't have to fight with all these ideas and the prospect of not going home. Why should that even be on the table?

You come to a worskhop of sorts situated close enough to the sea to smell the salts upon the air, and hear the work from within. Upon entry, you see a great deal of weapons lining the walls made from various beasts, and of all different shapes and sizes. Two guards stand within, both Kahkori, watching intently from their posts at either side of the door.

You see a counter and feel a great many bodies beyond doing all sorts of work in bending the flesh of monsters into weapons, tools, and armor.

“We've come to pick up the product of a recent kill.” Kurojo speaks with a Ferrine clerk at the counter.

The clerk twirls long whiskers, nodding, and mewling to itself before speaking in common,” Ah, yes... Craftshmashter Zianro is making Ordile armor and Kannabo. They are readiesh...” The Ferrine leers at you and Marine, licking his lips, “What smellsh like feeeesh?”

You and Kurojo look back to Marine, “What?”

You turn back to the clerk, leaving Marine confused, “What?”

“Mowww, These are Smolder hunter and... hmmm Feeesh hunter, then?” The Ferrine turns around and waddles over to a little door upon its little stick-like legs, slipping out of sight before you can correct the little fuzzball.

In short time, you hear a bit of fuss, and the prim and proper Kahkori from a few days ago comes out, eyeing you and Marine up and down, suddenly scowling. “What madness is this? You two have changed! This is awful... I'll have to refit the armor,” He holds a knuckle to his head, shaking it slowly.

With a deft draw, he beckons Marine forward, “Come now, I must take your measurements- again.”

The Kahkori seems exasperated, but you're glad that he's not intent on charging you any extra. The smells from the other room that he brings with him are something nearly aweful. Between some kind of substance they use to treat the hides and materials and whatever else is going on as far as butcherwork, it's just not quite the best-smelling place. You seal your nose shut and breath through your mouth, though tasting it isn't much better.

It was said that new hunters often undergo the "change" right after their initiation, so this is probably a common enough occurrence.

Marine's fitting takes enough time that you and Kurojo decide to refit your Nar-kage armor too, as it's in no shape right now for proper hunting, especially that armguard.

You return to the Guild hall to find Yasake there waiting for you, proper and with perfect posture as always as he acknowledges yours and Kurojo's presence dutifully. You're relieved that Marine's still at the outfitters... She won't mess this up.

“Lady White, Sir Jojo.” He inclines to the two of you, setting a package before the two of you, “Here is your armor, along with another little gift, for the purpose of storing that lovely dress of yours. My Radiant Lord Hao wishes you the best, and hopes that he has not offended. My Lord has stated that if it is so, we shall cry a thousand tears this night to atone for such rude behavior.”
Yasake wipes a small tear from his own eye, “My Lord has such a tender heart for one in such a position...”

He meant his position as a local ruler.
>>
>>32892643
It's best to limit the number of people we have to rely on. Plus, he's too influential and too much of an unknown. Not a reliable person to turn into a contact unless we get to know him better.
>>
“Okay... Thanks. I'm not really offended but... What do you mean “in such a position?” You start to pick up the package only to find a ferrine behind it hoist it up overhead.

At Yasake's snap, the ferrine runs off into the Guild's commons. “No need for you to bother yourself with such a task Lady White.”

You frown, watching after the scampering Ferrine. These cats everywhere...

“As for my lord...” He strokes his beak, thumbing at filed down tusks, “I simply mean my lord's position as Governor-General. My Lord's heart is much to tender and he is far too bold when faced with one he considers beautiful and curious.” The butler bird bows deeply, “With my task complete, I must return to my lord, tell him that your satisfaction had been... Adequate.”

“By the way.” You begin, and Yasake gives you attention through his slanted eyes, “Would you know of any local thieves that might target the guild?”

The butler chuckles, nigh incredulous, “Thief? Such as an individual or gang? I'm afraid that they are privy to the wrath my Lord shows to such that destroy the order that the honorable Tuskless have established for us. Thieves are punished quite harshly, not even the Kleptomaniac Melynx dare slip their claws into a purse while in mine Lord's city. As for outside however... It is beyond our jurisdiction, yet not beyond our purview.”
“Might you be missing something, Lady White?

“Not at all.” You lie, and Yasake's brows twitches. Kurojo looks to you, but the Butler's eyes keep smiling. He doesn't bother to say anything.

Yasaki gives a short bow,”I must return now to my lord. Well days, and good health Lady White.” and vanishes in an afterimage.

Feeling uneasy, the two of you finish your errand exchanging some words as Kurojo continues to tutor your Raguna Common. When you return, Marine's armor has already been refitted.

The rugged scales of the beast's back fall over Marine's shoulders as a protective mantle, defending her back as it wraps around in a harness for her front. Croc-leather gloves adorn her hands in a sterling shined blue, exposing her shell knuckles through strategic holes.

For her legs, she wears scale armor that rides up her legs like thigh-high boots, separated only at the inside of her thighs to help facilitate movement. A red crest armors her right shoulder, and a second is situated upon her head, a protective helm fashioned with the crest forward like a rooster's. At her feet, hard frosted tooth becomes the toe of her boots, and … her armored chest is exposed, the armor framing around it with the hard leather of the Ordile's back giving her some texture. Yet it's what lies below that, that gives you pause.

Not unlike you, she's had a bikini bottom fashioned.

The Master Craftsman looks between the two of you, “What? Is that not your fashion?” His tone, while sincere does not leave his subtle chuckles of amusement ignored.

You get your armor fit to to wear again, fixed to cradle around the spikes upon your arms, and to accommodate the girth of your improved tail.

You still feel a bit awkward about it, but don't say much of anything, just let it be, you guess.

Before you leave, Marine is given her weapon. Made of bone and bedazzled with cold ivory, it seems to drip with cold, salty water despite being nothing more than a spiked club.

“Mashter presents an Ordile Kanabo to hunter UltraMarine!” The presenting Ferrine clerk takes another deep whiff,” Feeeeeesh,”
>>
Marine takes up the weapon and sets it gently upon an armored shoulder, giving it a swing to see the fangs activate, leaving a wake of a cold, gnawing and toothless bite. She's given wraps to secure the weapon when not in use. She seems to enjoy her new toy greatly though...

Well, with errands done the day is sinking down to an end... Might as well pick your hunt from the hall now though...

Kurojo reads some of the most likely prospects to you... First of all...

Do you want a request that takes place upon the island, or off the island? Or are you indifferent?

Don't care much. Call the Araraki and let's get rolling.

Remember: We've got:
Jojo (who's as far as I can tell Flying defensively with Steel attacks)
White (Water + Ice)
ULTRAmarine (Water, with Fighting attacks)
That Araraki (Grass)

We should go robust some Ground types.
>>
>>32893073
I'd rather pick based on type match ups. Water is kind of bnoxious since it resists our best moves, but at least it's mutual, and the Araraki's got energy ball. Our entire team fucks up rocks though, with the bonus that smolders probably don't like fighting them (though the attacks hurt us just as much)
>>
>>32893143
Jojo isn't flying, he's fighting.

Ceru's got Water, Ice, Evil, and Fighting moves at an acceptable level and a couple of Psychic moves that seem more support level.

Marine's got Mudslap and two Fighting moves.

I could throw you some rock or ground types, and it'd pay out rather well but here's something to consider- Materials.

Rock/Grounds would pretty much be heavy armor and impact-based weapons.

“There's a Bar-roth terrorizing a village back on the Ferrine island. They're hardy. Like mud and rolling around in it. Not the hardest to kill, just can't stand in the way of a charge.”

“Notice for a Diabaros's horns, Says we can keep the rest. Uncle Mukon said horns are the best part though... We don't have to kill this one. They have a real bad screech and are good at digging. We'd go to the Ararakian wastes for this. It's posted by one of them. No money offered, but the body whole body would be worth a small fortune. Ah, sorry. That one's here...”

“A great Iwark's been spotted around Melfurna, a Smolder island. I'd rather not, but it'd have a lot of valuable ores. Strange though that the locals haven't dealt with it...”

“Then... There's a Nar-Kage terrorizing a village in a southern island. We'd be arriving in the aftermath if we take too long getting there. They call it the “Terror of Death.” Well, we killed one... You killed one, how hard could another be?”

“Captain Dovahki, the one we owe for a ride if you remember, has commissioed another ship out to hunt something big to upgrade hers. She's looking for hunters to staff it to assist with takedown and retrieval. It's listed as mandatory capture. Those are hard, but I have asked around here and know how to make tranq balls... We just have to weaken it and restrain it.”

“Let's do the Nar-Kage.” You touch the posting, looking up at Jojo in the waning light of day. “I'd like to help out. This seems like the best way.”

Kurojo eyes you carefully, stealing a glance at Marine to gauge her reaction, siding with you on this one.
“Are you two sure? It is named “The Terror Of Death.” Monsters with names like that are never good.”

“Jojo, we need to risk our lives anyway... We'll deal with it somehow, right?” You offer a comforting smile. More than anything you want to get away from this city, and such a request should pay out a lot too, getting you all the closer to a boat homeward bound.

You just need to get ready and find passage to the island...

That or we could improve some of our non-Ice attacks. Water Attacks are still good, though, but we'll want something killer.

If we can craft a spear from the Narga-kage corpse, we could focus up on improving our Evil moves, Feint Attack and Crossroad Killing.
>>
>>32893953
Still can't detect it with Aura, however.

Speaking of which, it's probably Steel/Poison/Flying. That would let it resist Fighting hard enough to cancel out its Steel weakness and of course make Kahkori fearful of it.

I heard its tail spikes can poison, so it's entirely possible.
>>

>>32894001
Nah, we're sticking with our claws and guns.

A spear would impede our shooting.

Better to just stick with finishing our armor.

>>32893961
If we upgrade Lock-on, can we dodge while spending a turn on it? If so:

Icy Wind=6
Psybeam=1+2
Lockon=2
>>
>>32894017
It can be placed on our back? If there was a way to fold the pole, that would be good. But having it hang diagonally across our back would be good too. I'm sure the Kahkori can modify the armor for something like that.
>>
if we decide to spend on an ice attack, which one should it be?
>>
>>32894037
We'll want to improve our firing skills. Water Gun, Ice Shard, and Lock On are safe bets. Aura Combat is good too.
>>
>>32894011
>Taking a deep breath and holding back an incoming onset of coughing, you supercool your breath and blow it deeply into the Nar-Kage's head.

>Fingers of frost creep in, perpetuating the cold as it blooms across the surface of its furry body. The effect is instant as it's locked into its stun by the horribly frigid breath.

>It'll just go to sleep at this rate. Without ever waking up.

>Its head bows to Kurojo, whom places a hand upon its beak as its eyes slowly freeze over from your biting cold.

>Mumbling something in his own native tongue, Kurojo place a palm against the creature's head, sharing in the frost for a moment before a sudden surge of power passes through his arm, traveling through the Nar-Kage's brain. You can feel everything within crumble.
>>
>>32894043
I'm not crazy about ice shards.

if we must invest in a priority move, I'd back aqua jet
>>
>>32894035
Not worth it. Pretty sure there's not enough for Armor and a weapon, not to mention we haven't used a spear in ages. Best to stick with what we know and what we're good at.
>>
>>32894051
Uh, yeah. 3rd line, man.
>>
>>32894059
Why?

That's just for a speed boost in water.

Better to back Psybeam or Aura attacks. Like Frost Wave
>>
>>32894062
This is an adult, much larger.

Doesn't matter if we haven't used a spear recently. We've still got a skill at it.

As long as it doesn't interfere with our firing moves, it'll be a additional bonus on top of Rocket Training and Aura Combat for our melee moves. It's a win-win.
>>
>>32894064
>begins to
means it hasn't yet.

Jojo interrupted our killing of it to pop up and destroy it's brain.
>>
>>32894070
don't mistake my post as wanting to put points into priority moves at all atm.

personally more interested in water gun, an ice move, some aura, or psybeam
>>
>>32894059
Ice Shard isn't as much about the priority as it is about making Icicle Gun better.
>>
>>32894059
Ice Shard hardens our projectiles while Water Gun fires them stronger. So they complement each other nicely.

>>32894070
Aqua Jet so far is just a speed boost in water, but we can use it on land and control water with it in higher levels.
>>
>>32894059
We don't have enough SP to match Narga in dodging. That would require investing in Aqua Jet(for speed) AND Quick Attack(for reaction speed)
>>
>>32894072
We also have 2 more people wanting shit from it.

Besides no one wants to go back to Lancer, CQC is good and fits us much better. Plus we have our Ice claws with Frostbite now. It's a serious waste of our claws to get a weapon when we'd be better with our natural ones.
>>
>>32894091
Still rather put moves into Aura moves like Vacuum Wave and other Aura things.
>>
>>32894101
>we have our Ice claws with Frostbite now.
Oh right. I forgot about those.

I remember Prof talking about that forever ago, but it hasn't been added to the pastebin.
>>
>>32894115
Nothing has been, that is currently a Player created one.

Prof described the claws as freezing things they touched/cut/slashed. Kinda giving us a natural Ice Claws due to them being linked to our Freezer Array (which is now fully developed)
>>
>>32894115
It also doesn't show the extra +1 fro the horns either
>>
>>32894140
We don't even know if the horns are supposed to give +1. Prof never said shit about it.
>>
I think a Q&A thread and some pastebin updates would do wonders
>>
>>32894175
Prof really needs to respond to questions more.
>>
>>32894160
yeah he did, both in here and in the qtg.

He said they would benefit Cryokinesis like Ice Shards and Icy Wind but not Ice Claw
>>
>>32894184
He responds to some questions/comments, but it's like he ignores any and all things directed towards pastebins or clarifications or other things that really get into thing about this world.

Like last thread someone just directly asked if Aura would work underwater and he ignored it. It was a simple Yes or No.
>>
>>32894187
Which can mean several different things. It could be providing a +1 to the dice, it could be doing more damage on successful rolls without actually affecting the dice, it could be altering how Prof judges dice outcomes to write the scene and apply damage, or it could be doing something else. Or it could be doing some combo of those.

He never specified as to how exactly it actually helps our ice moves, he just confirmed that it does -something-.
>>
>>32894223
The +1 makes the most sense and it generally what we've been going with. Also the easiest.
>>
>>32894208
Probably because that's kind of a dumb question. What would possibly turn off aura sense in water? Further, we've proven that aura is how pulse moves work, so Water Pulse is literally just pumping an aura wave through water.
>>
S what will our Seel Evolution actually do?

Beside make us a bit sleeker and give us hips?
It'll finish our puberty but i can't think of any real benefits to our ifghting. Besides maybe opening up Sheer Cold.
>>
>>32894245
Not if you look at the reason why Aura doesn't work in disturbed air.

It seems like it requires a calm medium to transmitted through, and Water is anything but calm.
>>
>>32894238
It would make the most sense, but the fact remains that it does not say that in the pastebin and Prof has never commented on it in Q&A. It's an unknown factor and all speculation is unconfirmed because the QM is deliberately refusing to say anything meaningful about it.
It almost makes me think that he still hasn't decided what it's even going to do.
>>
>>32894245
Water pulse seems more psychic if you ask me.

And no one confirmed that.

We have Frost Wave, not Frost Pulse.
>>
>>32894287
>It almost makes me think that he still hasn't decided what it's even going to do.
Pretty much
>>
>>32894267
It'll make the Icy Wind line stronger.

The other improvements will probably be defensive, such as more graceful movements while retaining Thick Fat.
>>
>>32894267
It makes all our cryokinesis based attacks stronger, as well as icy wind. Also, more damage resistance from fatness.
>>
>>32894267

>It's stunned! You glare at it, almost licking your lips as you debate over the the most likely ways to kill it.

>Armored skeleton, if you slit its throat you might catch into a protective membrane. Icicles got stuck, didn't penetrate deeply enough, it must be there. Icy Wind didn't do much against it due to its fur, feathers and the iron membrane, Kurojo must've struck it in a way that moved it, in that case if you freeze it.
But it needs to be deep and close.
>>
>>32894101
>We also have 2 more people wanting shit from it.
That doesn't matter. We split with Kurojo, and Marine got everything that wasn't sold for her armor and weapon.
>>
>>32894397
Araraki.
>>
>>32894387
Nar-Kage was definitely a glass cannon, but the same might not be said of Narga-Kage. It's simply that much larger, so Frost Breath will be pretty risky.
>>
>>32894397
Dude, we're not picking the spear back up, face it. We have Claws for a reason.
>>
>>32894409
Also doesn't matter, since she's much smaller than us and she won't get a weapon.

The tail is all we really need for a spear, the rest of the body for leggings and a helmet. If the Araraki wants armor, she can get everything else, otherwise she won't take much (aside from maybe the bones).
>>
>>32894412
we need to get an area cleared of armor/feathers so we can get a good shot in.
>>
>>32894412
Not saying the only way is Frost breath.

Aura moves will probably be better.

We should dump a lot into Vacuum Wave.
>>
>>32894419
And that reason being?

If the spear brings no downside, you have nothing to complain about.

>>32894431
No. Vacuum Wave is ineffective. It's not Aura moves that were effective against the Nar-kage, it was Force Palm, which penetrated its steel hide.
>>
>>32894424
You're the only one who wants a spear.

We have literally put no points whatsoever into the spear.

Getting or using a spear is just a waste of the our claws, the weapons we choose and have dumped real points and training into.
>>
>>32894431
No, I still think Frost Breath is better. Kurojo can use Vacuum Wave, while Marine can use raw physical or Vacuum Wave as well. They can stun Narga long enough to get a Frost Breath in, we just need to get to that point alive.
>>
>>32894440
Aura was clearly Super effective, indicative of it being part Dark.
>>
>>32894456
That was Force Palm.
>>
>>32894440
And further spead ourselves our wasting points that would be better used elsewhere?

Bedies we're better off using our claws in combat than a spear. We're just better with our claws.
>>
>>32894447
Uh, no. We have training in it. It gives us a +2 and it can be used in conjunction with other attacks and bonuses.

If we're talking about claws, we've got 4 of them now.

If we're talking about our hands for shooting, we can freely switch between having our mouth and 1 hand free to having all 3 free.

There are no downsides to it.
>>
>>32894465

>>32894367
live capture maybe?
>>
>>32894447
Uh, anon. You're the only one who's so vehemently against the spear. I didn't really care one way or another before the issue came up, but you've given no reason at all why we shouldn't pick it up. Like the other guy said, it doesn't really affect the use of our guns or claws (especially since we have 3 and 4 copies of each respectively).
>>
>>32894487
You DO know what Force palm does, right? It wasn't the typing or the fact it was aura. It was the armor penetration of the move itself that got through.

If you want to train up a move effective against the Narga-kage, then Force Palm is the way to go, not Vacuum Wave.
>>
>>32894478
We got the spear training for free. We put 6 points into CQC.

And you cannot use feet claws with things in your hands.

And you cannot use a spear one handed.

Having a spear pretty much fucks our flexibility in combat if we don't want to have to drop it every five seconds. It also pretty much negates the use of our claws.
>>
>>32894488
Nah. We're not great at live capture. That won't work too good.

Best we can do is put some ice around 'em. Ice shackles.
>>
>>32894478
Please don't try to minmax mechanics by saying that spear+claw gives more modifiers than just using both clawhands.
>>
>>32894471
There's no need to spend points? We ALREADY have the +2 from the polearm training.

All the spear would do is let us penetrate deeper with attacks like Quick Attack, Feint Attack, and Crossroad Killing.

Claws are effective for close range, but a spear is good for midrange and keeping our distance. And as I've said, it complements our existing moves nicely. The +2 bonus and the flavor damage are worth it.
>>
>>32894514
I'm sure some practice would help fine tune the process
>>
>>32894511
>And you cannot use a spear one handed.
I meant that we could easily let go of the spear with one hand, not that we'd fight with it that way.
>>
>>32894498
You cannot use a spear one handed. It requires both hands to use effectifevly and not just be in the way. And you cannot use your feet claws with your hands in use Also having a weapon at all means that you will be constantly retrieving it every time you're forced to drop it. which will be a lot
>>
>>32894511
Fuchsia combat. We can fight with our feet claws; just stick the spear on the ground and use it as leverage as we kick with our feet claws. Easy.
>>
>>32894519
It would be more damaging because it's a spear; claws can only penetrate so much. Claws are made for rending, the spear for penetrating.
>>
>>32894536
>I meant that we could easily let go of the spear with one hand, not that we'd fight with it that way.

Then up the Gunner skill and Water gun and Ice Shards for our Icicle gun.

We're a gunner.

Also have you tried running with a spear on your back? Shit's crazy.
>>
>>32894526
>>32894546
>>32894554
This I can get behind, although I wonder when we'll ever have to do that with our Gunner setup and Frost Breath finisher. I guess it would sych better with our Evil moves though.
>>
>>32894566
>Retrieve it after, anon.
When we're running away from somthing i'd rather not go back into the dangerous area and risk death because some Anon wants his weapon. We have our claws which have done perfectly until now.
>>
>>32894568
Unrelated, but I've tried running with a pole on my back once. School game. It was fun.

Depending on how long the spear is, it wouldn't be much of a hindrance. Double so if the spear's handle could be made to fold or detach into separate pieces.

The same issue as with the helmet; it's easily resolved, so don't worry about it.
>>
>>32894568
Yeah, sure. There's no need to spend more points on polearm training. Simply make use of both the bonus it gives and the abstract damage a spear gives us.
>>
>>32894586
Again, like I said, all it would cost us would be imaginary money. Stop being so fixated on losing it; if that's your only complaint, then it's not much of an issue.
>>
>>32894587
For a spear to be decent it should be at least as long as the person wielding it, if not longer.

Also
>a foldable spear?
>expecting that shit to not break mid combat
>expecting them to be able to make complex and micro joints and wheels out of monster parts
really?
>>
>>32894584
Oh! Oh! I once suggested that we could form ice spears and throw them by somehow modifying Vacuum Wave into a throwing motion. GAE BOLGA.

Could do it with a spear? Maybe to pin an enemy down?
>>
>>32894620
You do know they use fucking switchaxes, right?
>>
>>32894620
Pokescience. Don't worry about it. If Prof approves of it, then there won't be an issue, right?
>>
>>32894617
I don't care if we lose it, but you know that Anons will risk their life to get it back, simply because it's there.

And my main complait is that it'll hamper our fighting style, which requires both hands free for optimal run and gun with quick transition to CQC melee.
>>
>>32894626
No, if you wanted GAE BOLG:
>Spear
>Feint Attack
>Quick Attack
>Lockon
>Detect
>Crossroad Killing
>Aim for heart
remove as many as needed for practicality
>>
>>32894620
Uh, Akabaron used a weapon like that back on the ship. Weapons with joints are totally possible in MonHun.
>>
>>32894644
Let's just see if we can ask the Kahkori to find a way to make it easy to place the weapon on our back!

And if the weapon is foldable like Akabaron's weapon, then that makes it even easier.

You won't have any complaints if it doesn't hamper our combat style, right?
>>
Ass that I missed the thread.

But really guys? Going for a Spear? the weapon designed around have the least mobility possible when we rely on Speed and Dodge.

Spears are to keep things at bay. We don't have the strength or durability to back it up.
>>
>>32894650
Oh man, I forgot Detect isn't only usable for dodging, but for catching enemies with attacks too.

We should totally use it in the Narga-kage fight to close in with a Frost Breath.
>>
>>32894673
Then we'll never have a chance to use it.

I can see no situation why we would use one.
>>
>>32894677
We're not as strong as Marine, but we're at the top of the Rocket class for endurance training (was that what you meant by durability?).

And we've got a lot of strength, despite us not showing it recently. Our bodies muscles have been replaced with the crytten/bliger's and were rigorously trained for 2 years.
>>
>>32894673
I just think that having one will hamper us much more than it would help us.

Better to let Jojo have another sword or let the Araraki use it. Let's just get our armor set.
>>
>>32894688
Same reason why we'd ever use Crossroad Killing? Or Quick Attack and Feint Attack, if we choose not to chain them with anything else.

It won't cost us anything but fictional, uncounted money, so on the assumptions that it won't hurt our fighting style, then it's a complete benefit for combat.
>>
>>32894677
We haven't been doing much investing in dodge, though.
>>
>>32894701
What are your reasons for why it would hamper us? That hasn't already been addressed, that is (on the ease of use and our ability to switch from melee to ranged).
>>
>>32894696
Durability as in ability to take damage.

We're squishy as all hell.

And i meant strength as in being able to take a charge/outmuscle something. We'd get fucked. Look at the arm wrestling. Marine could do it but Ceru is no where near being able to hack it.
>>
>>32894709
It costs us valueable time durin a fight.

Pulling it out won't be a free action.

>>32894722
It goes against everythign that our fighting style currently is. We're run and gun and speed and dodge. Spears are best used for keeping enemies at bay or taking charges. Or worst case secnario Throwing.

We could get some javelins made? like a dozen or so.
>>
>>32894724
It's not as if we can't rely on squadmates or charge in using our speed to make a decisive attack with the spear (should we choose to use it instead of some other coup de grace move like Frost Breath). So that addresses the durability issue.

If it's strength, you're severely underestimating Ceru's own body; any unarmored enemy would be ravaged by her claws. The spear would be useful for penetrating defenses.
>>
>>32894743
>It costs us valueable time durin a fight.
>Pulling it out won't be a free action.
This was addressed, though? If the weapon is easy to draw and put away, then it'd be a free action. As free as the Smolder pulling out their own weapons or changing ammunition.
>>
I'm neutral on the spear/no spear issue. I do want armor though.
>>
>>32894743
I could support getting some javelins.

>>32894749
You're thinking the wrong kinda strength Anon.

We would do a thousand push ups, but would couldnt bench a thousand pounds. Marine may not be able to do a thousand push ups, but she could bench a thousand pounds. We have lithe and toned strength rather than raw force strength.
>>
>>32894743
>It goes against everythign that our fighting style currently is. We're run and gun and speed and dodge. Spears are best used for keeping enemies at bay or taking charges. Or worst case secnario Throwing.
We're actually more technical than that. Such was the case with the Nar-kage fight, when we had to close in since our ranged attacks were ineffective.

We received general polearm training, so presumably, we could use the weapon like a staff as well. Lots of flexibility there.
>>
Are we EVER using Horn Attack ever again?
>>
>>32894754
I doubt that drawing and unfolding a Spear in the middle of combat will ever be a free action.
>>
>>32894764
>We would do a thousand push ups, but would couldnt bench a thousand pounds. Marine may not be able to do a thousand push ups, but she could bench a thousand pounds. We have lithe and toned strength rather than raw force strength.
You're thinking to my previous post, but my point still stands; you're underestimating Ceru's strength.

When we were discussing Crossroad Killing before, Prof said our claws would have trouble penetrating through armored enemies, but if we had a weapon, we'd get through the defense. So just assume we're fine there. Or, if you prefer, we can ask Prof about it tomorrow.
>>
>>32894774
It's no longer a viable move with the way our horn evolved.
>>
>>32894756
I more no spear, but a set of throwing javelins would be nice.
>>
>>32894776
And if it was? Then there's no problem, right?

>>32894774
It's been lost, Prof just hasn't noted it down in the pastebin yet.

I'm not sure if we've lost the capacity to train Bite, though.
>>
>>32894776
Have you seen how long it takes to draw a bowgun or reload it?

>>32894781
>>32894788
Man, I wonder if we can get a refund or something.
>>
>>32894780
True we'd obviously be able to penetrate much farther.

But to be able to use a spear effective you need to be the power behind it to Thrust really hard, or be able to stand several thousands of pounds moving diertly at you and then you stopping it with a stick.

It may penetrate but you'll get your ass run over in the process.
>>
>>32894794
>Man, I wonder if we can get a refund or something.
No, this was also addressed early on in the quest. No refund. It's fine, though, since we only spent 2 points on it.
>>
>>32894799
Ah, your problem is that you think I'm talking about us taking on some monster's charge? Not to worry, then. That was never really an issue. The spear would just be something to use as a surprise attack or in combination with other squadmates so that we can make it a surprise.
>>
I'm going to bed.

Still think a Spear would be superfluous, but i'm obviously not getting anywhere.

A nice set of 6-12 Nargacuga javelins would be a good compromise though.
>>
I don't want any sort of javelin or spear unless they're well fucking made, and designed to work with our powers.

Which means hollow, and designed to work like a needle, and designed to pierce through armor so we can deliver superchilled payloads directly to organs.
>>
>>32894812
>superfluous
That would be bad how?
>>
>>32894805
That was just one of the examples.

I'm saying we don't have the raw strength to drive it deep enough to hit those vitals that a spear is designed for.
>>
>>32894824
>I'm saying we don't have the raw strength to drive it deep enough to hit those vitals that a spear is designed for.
Oh, then don't worry about that either. All Rangers are pretty much superhuman.

And, uh. Vacuum Wave, anon. You do know how that's done, right? Ceru's got the arm strength.
>>
>>32894823
Extra things get in the way and distract from the useful things.

Not to mention Jojo or Araraki would be better off with them. We're self contained.
>>
>>32894835
The Armor and hides of the monsters are superhuman too.

You think you could penetrate a blastoise? or a Rhydon?

And vacuum wave is and Aura attack, no really strength related/
>>
>>32894836
And if they don't want anything?

The Narga-kage has more than 1 blade and the Araraki certainly won't get one.

The blade is the only thing needed for a spear and we have no one to compete over it with.
>>
>>32894845
Rather have javelins than a spear.

We're a gunner.
>>
>>32894844
You think you could penetrate a blastoise? or a Rhydon?
Yes. Yeah. Why not?
>>
>>32894845
>And if they don't want anything?
They will.
>>
>>32894844
If we're going for joints/weaknesses, yes. That's something claws can't do, at least.

Personally I'd rather Frost Breath, though.
>>
>>32894859
Of the blades, I mean. Because we really only need the blade for a bladed weapon.
>>
>>32894854
>Yes.
Then you're dumb, very dumb.

Marines shell was speculated to be able to take a Nar-Kage attack. and that's at Wartortle. and the squirtle line isn't even that good of Defense. Shelder and the Rhyhorn line and most rock based pokemon are muc tougher life wise.
>>
>>32894859
The Narga-kage will presumably be larger than the Nar-kage. So there will probably be enough material for armor for everyone, considering how small the Araraki is.

>>32894867
Yeah, Frost Breath is definitely better for penetration.
>>
>>32894880
>and the squirtle line isn't even that good of Defense
You're not supposed to think about it in terms of stats. Just read back to the early threads. The part is all that matters. A shell is for defense? Then yeah, it's for defense. Doesn't matter if the pokemon it's from has bad stat growth for defense.
>>
>>32894882
Well Armor First.

Then i'd rather a set of Javelins.

Then if there's anything left i guess we could make a spear. Worst case we give it to Aqua when we get back.
>>
>>32894890
I wasn't thinking in terms of Stats.

But the Squirtle to Blastoise line isn't particularly known for havgin really strong shells. Gravellers will be tougher, Shelder will be tougher, almost all rock or steel pokemon will be tougher.

The shell provide it decent defense, but there's a whole lot better defenders out there.
>>
So a Narga's tail lengthens during its slam attack. Assuming this means that its elastic, can we make some sort of Water Gun/Aqua Jet powered Steel piledriver?
>>
So, think we'll get there in time to keep the beast from killing all the villagers?
It said this one was a timed mission for that reason.
>>
>>32895042
It was a "timed" mission in the sense that if we didn't take it now, it'd be all over for the villagers.
>>
>>32895055
Well, yeah.
Still travel time and all that. I worry, okay?
>>
>>32895076
Yeah, including travel time. There's no need to worry about it.
>>
We need to councel marine on her choice in scars.
I don't know how they do it over in pewter gym, but it seems like she'd kind of regret the head burn and hand burns at a later date.
