It's raining on the noisy lake.

The goslings scatter around, the ducklings float at the edge of the lake. They go to the ducklings, and swim by the frogs. They shout at the fish that jump through the air. They shout at the spider spinning its' web by the water.

At once, the mother swan arrives, and the cygnets all line up. The elegant bird swims to the center of the lake, and spreads its wings wide. All at once, the lake falls silent. The swan closes its wings and looks everywhere but behind it, enjoying the quiet obviously...

...and then the cygnets descend upon it, pecking it and dragging it into the water, blood and feathers flying everywhere. Each thump peck thump making a loud Thump splash and sending the THUMP THUMP THUMP...

You awaken to the sound of pounding on your door in rhythm with the pain coming from your ribs. Apparently, one-half of a One-Star uniform didn't actually make you tougher as much as it made you FEEL tougher. Prodding at your slightly swollen right side brings sharper pain, but considering nothing is out of place you conclude nothing is broken.

Whoever is at your door knocking continues to do so, and with a bit of a wince you make your way out of bed, to your door, and immediately into a fighting position as you're met by the One-Star that you humiliated yesterday.

...though, thinking of him as a One-Star, on closer examination, is wrong-he's been demoted... and is, in fact, holding out to you a neatly folded One-Star Uniform.

"Gamagoori-sama told me to give you this." He drops it on the ground at your feet, then turns and makes his way for the trolley. Points for punctuality and sense, it seems-he probably wouldn't be able to take you anyway, without the Uniform.

The One-Star Uniform gleams in the light of the dawn... and they DO dull pain... but aren't they reserved for club members? Thinking on it, you decide to...

Sorry guys. I'll write faster, I swear.

The aching in your ribs is what makes the decision, ultimately.

Sure, there's merits to it. With a One-Star Uniform, other people like the moron over there aren't going to try and bother you for being the new guy. It'll come with a quality of life upgrade that'll put you closer to the school, and give you a good midway point between the No-Stars and the Two-Stars for optimal information gathering. Plus, there's the nice power increase for when someone inevitably does start a fight with (or even just around) you.

But in the immediate future, it should help with your ribs. They hurt like a BITCH!

Wiggling out of your pajamas and into the new uniform hurts a bit more, but it's worth it because when you get in, you're immediately stricken by a feeling of relief and power that rushes through your body. You can feel it straightening your posture, reducing your swelling on your ribs and re-adjusting them. The uniform fits you like a glove. And to think, this is what the "normal" students get. No wonder Honnouji is taking over.

You take a few moments to go over your instructions. The first day was your infiltration-establishing yourself as a student. Check. Today, you need to touch base with your contact, an instructor named "Mikisugi Aikurou." Huh. Cross-referencing your own information, you realize he's your homeroom teacher.

You memorize the handshake to confirm the operation and crumple the paper, putting it in your pocket. You toss it into a homeless man's bucket fire as you make your way to the trolley.

Today's your first day of school, after all. Wouldn't do to be late.

The trolley car gets you there fairly quickly, leaving you a little time to look around the school before you have to go. You use this time to head to class, and see if anyone else is there. Sure enough, nobody came early to his class. You knock on the door and peek your head in to be sure, looking around-yep, empty. You peek your head out and check the hallway once before he clears his throat.

"Oh, uh... hi, I'm new here. Is this Mr. Mikisugi?"

The teacher... is this really your contact? He looks like he gave up on life thirty years ago-impressive, because he's only in his late 20s. He just threw together his button-down shirt, MAYBE ran water through his hair. He looks a bit surprised at you.

"Uh... oh! That makes you Heinrich-san, right? And you have a One-Star already! So studious! Hai, that's me, Mikisugi-sensei. You're in the right place."

You step into the room and bow to him like you saw the students do in Kanto last year, and he responds in kind.

"Sorry, Mikisugi-sensei. My Japanese isn't the best... so, where will I be sitting?"

The two of you make a bit of small talk-he tells you what to expect from a Honnouji homeroom, when the break periods and lunch are, and so on. All the while, you glance up to the clock. Should you try the handshake now? If this is your guy, he's good, but if not...

[ ] ...it's worth the risk, he probably won't figure it out.

It's not like the handshake is obvious-if it was, it'd be a bad handshake-so you can just play it off like it's small talk if he thinks it's odd, and people listening won't know what to listen for anyway. So you try it.

"Say... Mikisugi-sensei, have you ever been to Rügen before?"

You could have sworn he hesitated, like someone whom just realized the animal they were looking into the cage of could break out and kill them any minute, but effortlessly he responds with "Once on vacation with my girlfriend. The view from the beach is fantastic."

That's the response.

Mikisugi Aikuro is your man.

And judging by the intensity of the stare that just went over his glasses at you, he is VERY good at what he does. Or at least thinks so.

"Sorry, Heinrich-san, but I've got to finish getting ready for-"

The bell rings and students almost immediately begin filing in. Everyone responds to roll call and Mikisuki introduces you to the class, netting a few ooohs and aaahs from people that figure you're exotic since you're from another country. You're moved to a desk in the back, by the window-apparantely, there's ANOTHER transfer student coming, and the Disciplinary Commitee transferred one student into another homeroom to accomodate. You can't help but be curious-it's almost too convenient. Still, it's not that big a deal. At least some of the girls are cute.

Class starts and he begins to go over the history of how World War 2 began, something you already know pretty well. Still, he writes almost everything he says on the blackboard, like he's really into this lesson. You...

Well, it's not like Honnouji is JUST a warmongering cult of personality-in order to maintain its appearance and land rights it's also got to be a school. Judging by your first impression of "Lady Satsuki" you doubt that not giving an excellent education would be tolerated, so you decide to listen in. And sure enough, Mikisugi knows his stuff-he starts going into a lot of detail with the buildup of the Axis powers, constantly referencing what he was writing on the board...

...constantly... bringing his chalk back?

That's when you notice the pattern, and begin looking over the notes you were taking. Every second letter of every third word in what he writes is forming other words. Naturally, you start to puzzle it out yourself.

What you get is "Sewers later."

Sewers later? He must be meaning for you to meet up with him. But where?

You end up paying close attention through the entire class, the people that notice your very meticulous notes obviously getting the impression you're a good student. Ironic, because you aren't really learning anything at all. Each time he writes something up, you start deciphering the code.

By the time the bell rings for lunch, you have managed to get down "Sewers later under school nw." Since you're the new One-Star, you go get your food and start looking around the northwestern campus, looking for somewhere to eat. Some of the students wave you over (mostly the girls) and you smile, wave back, and continue searching like you're looking for someone. Rumors about what you did to the One-Star without a uniform on must have circulated already, because the usual bullying you've adjusted to in new schools doesn't happen.

Eventually, you find your way to a place overlooking the sewers, away from the eyes of the other students. You've got about half your lunch yet to go, so you sit down and start to eat.

You're just barely finished when you feel a small prick on the back of your neck and everything goes black.

At least whatever happened had the courtesy to rob you of your sense of time, too, because it's like you were forced to blink your eyes-a moment of darkness and then you have everything back.

You're in a dirty, cramped little home, feeling very tired, a little sore, and... suddenly panicking when you see the sun out the window. It's almost set. You left for lunch a little before noon. How long were you out? Was it more than a day? Did the teachers notice? Are you compromised? You try to look around, but your neck doesn't want to obey. After all, you're so warm under this... blanket?

Right around now is when you notice your Uniform is gone.

It's also when the door opens behind you, shuts, and bolts. You think about screaming, but decide against it. You don't want to give...

...Mikisugi?

He walks across the room and shuts the window, then turns to you and pulls off his glasses. You're pretty sure you also saw a button on his shirt open. You start to feel yourself panick again but for completely different reasons.

"Calm down, Heinrich. This was the only way I could give you the mission details safely. Worst case scenario, if we get caught, you can claim to not be involved. And before you ask, your uniform was pulled off and set outside. I didn't have the time to sweep it for bugs."

You were just about to open your mouth to shout the question, but he pre-empted you easily enough. Still, considering that his shirt is now hanging open, you can't help but tug the blanket a bit higher over you. It's... uncomfortable.

"Okay then... I'm guessing you did this to me?"

"Acupuncture needles-standard issue equipment for... nevermind." He looks away towards the window, his shirt starting to fall off his shoulders. You look away from his back, still not entirely sure he's not about to put moves on you

“Well... why didn't you just do that, and get one from one of the students?”

His response is to laugh and shake his head. “We've tried. It's not that easy.

“Believe it or not, we've actually tried. Goku Uniforms break down if they're not worn for 24 hours, and once one is worn, it “attunes” to that person-no one else can wear it properly.”

That makes sense, even if it makes what you're supposed to do a lot harder. Of course whoever designed these things factored in that someone would try and steal them. It's not a huge leap of logic, considering that the students here aren't exactly keen on keeping their mouth shut, and the school itself tells anyone who gets in about the uniforms.

“Right, so we have to get me out then.”

“...that's the thing. See... there's a new transfer student here. And she just declared war on Lady Satsuki. Pulled a big scissor sword and everything,” he finishes as his shirt falls to the ground. You find yourself immediately confused about where that purple light is coming from. It can't be his nipples. That would make no sense whatsoever.

It only dawns on you what he's getting at a few moments after he says it. “Oh... great. Security's going to be higher, and everyone's going to be going after her AND me.”

“And if their eyes are on you, you just can't slip away. If I were you, I'd look into joining one of the clubs. Usually you need to in order to get a One-Star anyway.”

That's a good point. In one of the clubs, there'd be people around that would probably protect you from attackers. Plus, in a club you'd be able to start networking, and working your way towards a Two-Star Uniform. If you can get one of those, you can basically get out whenever you want.

“You're right. That means I need to talk to...

I figure an artistic club will give us a bit more flexibility.

Disciplinary committee has too much... discipline to approve of us just running around, an athletic club is likely to throw us headfirst into Ryuuko's sword, and a misc club could range from perfect to "oh god my tongue is raw from licking all these stamps", but an artist can go skulking around for inspiration without raising suspicion.

“...Jakuzure was her name, right? Jakuzure Nonon.”

The blue-haired, half (three-quarters now, his pants are unbuttoned and barely hanging off his-don't think about it) naked man laughs a little. “I didn't peg you for an artist. Why her?”

“Well, the Disciplinary guys obviously won't want me to be part of them, and the Athletic clubs will draw too much attention. The other ones under that Strategy and Intelligence Committee head would be great to plant me in... which is why getting in is so dangerous. You don't get that kind of position without being smart. That just leaves the artistic ones.”

At some point while you were speaking, Mikisugi became fully dressed again, and disguised once more. “Good answer. You've got a good head on your shoulders, kid. Here.” He reaches up into some pile of junk, produces a manilla folder and tosses it down in front of you. The contents spill out a little, revealing a picture of a grinning pink-haired girl.

“I'd love to stay and plan this out but I have somewhere I have to be. Door unlocks from the inside, the needle should wear off in two more minutes. I'll contact you later.” And just like that, he's gone.

Reaching down you open up the folder, and find a dossier on Jakuzure Nonon. Giving it a quick glance-through, you see that she's close friends with Satsuki Kiryuin herself-and has been for quite some time... According to this, she's extremely manipulative, prideful, and more than a little caustic.

When the feeling finally returns to your neck, you get up and retrieve your uniform before your ribs can begin protesting again. So much for getting those looked at. You slip out and... realize you have no idea where you are.

You wandered the sewers lost before you got guided out by a twitchy No-Star. You think he might have lived there judging by how he looked (and smelled...) and can't for the life of you imagine why someone would. Oh well, at least he was nice enough, if a little panicked.

Classes are over and you thankfully don't smell of the sewers-you were shown a quick way out and didn't stay there too long. That, combined with a nice hit of some aerosol deodorant, and no one could tell where you were.

Hunting down Nonon proves fairly difficult-while she's in charge of a whole lot, she likes to make appearances at all of them. Your first attempt was to go to where the marching band was practicing, and they pointed you towards a stage on the other side of the school (and, from their giggles, pointed at you as well). When you got to the Rakuyo Club... they take a full five minutes to explain that she's gone to oversee the 100 Poet's Club.

But she's actually there when you arrive.

...the dossier said she's short, but she barely comes up to your thigh. And yet, you can tell right away this girl has charisma. She's on-stage, reciting old poetry by Poe. Mainstream, but a classic, and she sells it well. “Quoth the raven, nevermore” somehow didn't seem old and contrived. Everyone applauds, including you.

She strides right up to you, and thinking to be polite, you drop down to one knee, leaving your head just beneath hers. She just smirks and looks back at the stage.

“Hooh? Is the transfer student so impressed by my poetry that he'll bow before me?”

Careful. Remember the dossier. Prideful, manipulative. Watch your words and you'll be okay.

“Not just that, Jakuzure-san... is it -san? My Japanese isn't so great. Anyway... I actually wanted to join one of the artistic clubs. Your reading was just so inspiring!”

“Jakuzure-san works.” She huffs, and crosses her arms in front of her, looking down at you. The compliment just rolled right off of her-she's obviously heard this before. Time to run a new angle. “Which one were you thinking?”

“If it's not a big deal, I want to join...”

According to your dossier, Nonon has never left Japan before, and while she was wealthy, she didn't have a lot of multicultural exposure. That means you're just as strange and exotic to her as you are to everyone else here. She doesn't know what to expect, though from her expression she might think you're trying to charm her to get in good with the Student Council.

Time to throw her for a loop.

There's not many things in life you're actually passionate about. But after traveling the world, helping the models your dad worked with, exploring the world for yourself... one thing you've learned is that your memory isn't perfect. You remember THAT you got to see things, but not what it looked like. And with what you've seen, there are some things that you never want to forget.

A flash of a gravestone in a cemetery in a little town outside of Kobe passes through your mind. You put it out of it.

Standing up to your full height, you produce from your pocket a tiny digital camera, and point it down at the girl, holding it one-handed and covering one eye with your little window. She's halfway through a “NANI SORE?!” before there's a flash of light and her look of shock, confusion, and embarrassment is captured for ever.

Film doesn't forget.

And boy, was THAT priceless.

“The Photography Club! There is a Photography Club, right?! There was one at my old school, and at the one before that too! Seeing you here today, seeing you pour your heart out up there to that literature-I knew it just had to be immortalized!” Each time you end a sentence you step around here and snap another picture from another angle, getting one of either profile, and one of her trying to grab it out of your hands, before she knocks it away with her baton.

Riled up a little, yes, but she obviously thinks you're harmless now. Maybe a little dopey. You can live with that.

She gives you a time for the next meeting-as they already went home today-and sends you on your way.

You snapped a couple of pictures on your way out, to help build the image of you as a bit eccentric. When it comes to photography, you know you can, though, so it's not even an act-which makes it the best cover you could ask for. And if those photos HAPPENED to have a shot of a security camera or motion sensor or microphone off-center, or in a corner, that has to be a coincidence!

For the first time since you got to this island, you feel confident. Sure, getting off Honnouji will be difficult. Sure, everyone around you could try to pummel you into the dirt-maybe even kill you, like they did to that kid Suzuki if they found out why you're here. Yeah, the whole set-up of this Academy and island is screwed up in the head and designed to breed resentment.

As you flip through your camera, your mother's last gift to you, you come across the first photo you ever took. A gravestone, unnamed, with snow falling. The only mark a rose carved in. The resting place of Rose Heinrich.

To no one in particular, you say “Doesn't matter. I'm bringing it down.”

And now I'm actually done. Archiving it. Hope you enjoyed!

>she barely comes up to your thigh.

Were you exaggerating her midget status or is Heinrich huge? She's usually above the waist for everyone except Gamagori.
>>
>>32916445
Mostly exaggerating. Heinrich is approximately 2.1 Nonons tall. He's just kind of a lanky guy.
>>
>>32916482
You sure?
Let's say Nonon's 1.5m tall,that means Heinrich's above 3 metres tall.
>>
>>32916506
At 4AM, after a couple of beers, it turns out I cannot math, as spy guy Heinrich isn't supposed to be almost ten feet tall.

We'll settle it at around six feet and call it at Heinrich being stupd and I won't be retarded next thread.
