Characters and Gunpla: http://pastebin.com/UrPsGUQL

You are JACK FOULKE, an amateur Gunpla Fighter with dreams to make your own mark on the Gunpla battle scene!

You and your friends had been spending the past few days tuning and testing your new upgrades to each of your Gunpla, getting used to the new feel and capabilities.

You've finally grown used to your GM Juggler's faster movement and increased agility. Slapping a GN Drive onto it made a HUGE difference in terms of physical performance. It also gave Jake a lot of headaches, since the GN particles kept interfering with his targeting systems. All in all, you feel that you made a good upgrade choice.

Also, Charlotte had been making the rounds, beating down a few of the school's bigshots in 1v1s. So much for keeping a low profile, you guess. However, at least nobody seemed to realize she was THE Charlotte Rafale, yet. It helped that she wasn't using her typical Kampfer, but a highly optimized Geara Zulu she called Crimson Zulu. It had an enlarged rocket pack on the pack for extra mobility, as well as a shoulder mounted heavy cannon and a beam machine gun with underslung slug launcher. For the close combat side, it also carried dual beam tomahawks. Finally, instead of the shoulder shield, it looked like the Crimson Zulu's right arm was thicker and more heavily built than normal. Of course, Charlotte wouldn't reveal why when you asked.

Right now, you were all messing around during your regular lunch meeting, when Karen stood up and clapped her hands to grab your attention.

"All right, everybody, I think we're ready to try and rank up in the school standings." She says with grin as her eyes scan all of her team members and their assembled Gunpla. "Now, the question is, who do we challenge?

Something along these lines. Look at groups in the 8-10 range and see what they're like. Not too close to our rank, but not far enough that they'll have top-grade fighters either.

If I recall correctly, wasn't that Val Varo team the school's 8th Rank?
Though they weren't able to utilize their full assets back then, we might face a full Mobile Armor team or fight one solo at some point.

"So, um, what kind of teams are we talking about?" You ask.

"Here." Karen shows you a small list.

11. Swordfish: Uses aquatic and amphibious Gunpla.
10. Jokers: A team that focuses heavily on defensive tactics like heavy use of smoke and ECM systems.
9. Mole Rats: Mainly uses digging equipment to attack enemies from below.
8.
7. Olympians: Focuses on Gunpla from G Gundam..
6. Three Brothers: Only three members, but highly organized and coordinated at a level beyond most other teams
5. Silver Wing: Mostly uses Gundam Wing Gunpla.
4. Noscope: Focuses on sniper units.
3.Swarmlord: All Gunpla used by this team utilize bits or funnels in some form.
2. Black Stallions: A team that usually uses high end Zeon Gunpla.
1. Gunpla Club: Exclusively high end suit used my main characters.

Because any team that runs G Gundam has to be made of Bros.
>>
>>32908004
>Let's go for a lower rank team.
Fighting Jokers could be fun, given our own build. Mole Rats or Swordfish could also be neat for the gimmick factor. I'm also tempted to request we pull a No More Heroes and take down everyone in order on our way to the top. But that would take forever and could get boring.

>>32908030
I don't see why not. Could be neat if we ever increase the number of remote units we have to put Satellite Systems on all of them. Then they could exchange power and combine their outputs. That could be really effective.

We will likely need a couple more upgrades before even considering fighting the top tier guys, and a mid rank fight could go south really fast, especially since we have so little practice as a team.

5. Silver Wing: Mostly uses Gundam Wing Gunpla.
>>
>>32908004

>>
>>32908180
Yeah. The Gunpla Club, despite fighting in a boring way, are pretty damn effective. We need a lot more upgrades before we can fight them on an even level. For one thing, we need to encrypt the connections to the Balls so that the Unicorn can't just hijack them with the NT-D.
>>
>>32908150
If the fight with Amy taught us, countermeasure and ECM messes with our Balls AI system. So Jokers may not be ideal.

But the Moles and Swordfish sound fun.

I want to face Aqua GMs or Acguys

Maybe a Zaku Mariner
>>
What are your thoughts on a build that focuses only on speed and defence? Something that's too fast to hit and armored well enough to tank anything that hits it at the expense of manoeuvrability and offensive power kind of like this (as much as I hate to reference another mecha series in Gundam, like Macross) along with an Armor Purge System:

"Huh, well, I guess we should just start things off slow." You frown.

"That's what I was thinking too." Karen said in agreement.

"Oh? Taking the safe route, eh?" Mac grins. "I thought you'd have more manly confidence than that!"

"It's a perfectly reasonable choice." Lucina nods. "Smart choices win matches, not manly confidence."

"You just don't understand..." Mac shakes his head. "You get what I mean, right Jake?"

Jake nods and he and Mac fist bump.

"Ugh. Guys." Charlotte rolls her eyes and glances at you. "No offense."

"Well, a fight's a fight. No right to complain, I suppose." Amy nods and grins.

"None taken. I get embarrassed about Mac, too." You laugh.

"Anyways." Karen coughs loudly to get the meeting back on track. "Next we have to figure out which team we want to go for."

I don't think it would work that well. It would be a good distraction, but without any serious weapons I'm afraid the enemy would eventually learn to just ignore it. Like that one mobile suit from Crossbone, the Abijo. Eventually the Crossbone Vangaurd stopped responding to its attacks because they knew it couldn't really harm their suits.

So I was thinking.
Once we take down the Gunpla Club, we should set our sights on the World Tournament. And for that, we'll need Plavsky Hax. For the whole team if there's a Team Division of the world tourney.
Now, Lucina is easy. Make her a sword that swords better (shaped like Falchion, of course), but I'm varying degrees of stumped both for our other teammates, and especially for Jack himself.
>>
>>32908498
I guess we should try to upgrade our base suit because without our Balls, we're just kind of above average.
>>
>>32908498
It'd be better to find a way to win without that crutch as it's not certain that everyone there would be using it.

They sort of can. The mounts on our shoulders are articulated, they can dock and serve as turrets or boosters. But I like the idea of the armor and the remote weapons being the same. I remember there was a mecha like that in Zoids, one of the T-Rex designs. The Gairyuki, I think. Parts of its armor could detach and transform into miniature Zoids. We could do that with the Juggler, maybe base it off a Full Armor design. Full Armor Striker Custom is already built onto a GM frame, so we could start with that.

"Well, they shouldn't be underestimated." Karen shakes her head. "They are in the top ten, after all, even if it's only barely."

"So do you have any idea what suits they use?" Charlotte asks.

"If my memory serves me correctly..." Karen frowns. "Last year they used a trio of Gomels, but that could have changed. They were a newly formed team last year, and it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that they upgraded or changed their Gunpla."

"Well, either way, we'll beat them!" Amy pumps a fist in the air. "Guys who hide underground all the time are bound to lose!"

"Let's hope so." Lucina sighs. "How is their battle strategy?"

"They like to do lots of flanking and hit and run attacks." Karen explains. "They'll emerge out from the ground at an unexpected angle and make a quick attack before disengaging. It makes it very difficult to counterattack."

"So we just have to be faster than them." Mac grunts.

"Or simply tank their hits." Jake says.

"Yes, those are viable solutions." Karen nods. "We'll need to figure out a team makeup for this.

The balls are one of the few things that can follow them down.

They're perfect.
>>
>>32909268
Sadly, you'll never win that fight. Because /tg/ has this stupid habit of 'The MC must do all the things!' instead of letting others do it even when it's logical to do so.
>>
>>32909268
Bull. If we mod our Balls a little, we're perfect for tunnel running. CALL OUR BALL MONGER SISTER!
>>
>>32909314
that and if they don't have the MC, it's likely for a stupid reason like spiting waifufags. (See VMQ2)
>>
>>32909268
>>32909314
Our Juggler Is good for this case for jamming purposes and our improved radar should help.

Which reminds me we should get improved radar for our Balls for recon purposes
>>
>>32909268
Pfft. Our Balls can fit down the tunnels with ease, and with a little modification (improved frontal armor, beam shotgun) they're absolutely perfect.

Someone call our ball obsessed sister.
>>
>>32909268

We actually do perform a good supporting role.

With 3 units giving off ECM and our base unit with strengthened radar support, we can give false reading locations to the enemies and direct the Tusker's fire into the ground if he has bunker buster shells.

The Balls are also small enough to enter the tunnels to fuck shit up and thats likely something they won't expect.

We need to be here for the Tusker to perform to its full capability.

>>32909314

Don't you start.
>>
>>32909315
>>32909361
So should we have 1 ball for Tunnel clearing and 1 ball for support topside, or have both tunnel clearing?
>>
>>32909390
One and one.
>>
>>32909390
If Karen can enter the Tunnels as well I think one should support her. If only to mask her presence
>>
>>32909390
It'd be nice if we knew the terrain beforehand... but as it is, I'd say both in the tunnels. We have Tusker and Obsidian backing us up on the surface.
>>
>>32909364
>Don't you start.

Start what? I merely pointed out a nasty habit /tg/ has. That whenever or where ever they would prefer to do it 'themselves' over ever letting another character have a moment to do something meaningful. Even when the other character in question is better equipped for the job than the MC.
>>
>>32909364
>The Balls are also small enough to enter the tunnels to fuck shit up and thats likely something they won't expect.
But they will expect it since they'll know they're playing against a juggler when we take out gunpla out.
>>
>>32909441
But in this case, we're not doing it ourselves we're support not front lines depending on the ideal situation, our goal is jamming and detecting.

If we wanted to fight head on we would have used this.

http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/GM_Underground_Combat_Type

>>32909453
that is speculation though and even then they don't expect us to put a GN Drive onto balls thus jamming their underground sensor
>>
>>32909559
Okay, Magical Ensign Blaster Mari is not a good place to draw inspiration from. Though the Magnet Coating Ball could be hilarious to build. All flailing all over the place.
>>
>>32909220
"The way I see it, my Juggler can provide the support, you got the speed, and Jake has the firepower." You say. "I can probably detect where they'll be coming from with my sensors, you can counter them if they emerge, and Jake can handle area denial."

"That makes sense." Karen nods. "That would give us a big fighting chance."

"I'd like to fight some regular enemies for once, though." Jake sighed.

"Don't worry, you'll get your chance someday!" Amy pats him on the shoulder.

"Good, now that's been decided." Karen looks at you again. "I can issue the challenge right now, and we'd be able to fight them after school today. Unless, that is, you want more time for last minute upgrades?"

Beam sabers... But they don't have arms. At all. We replaced them with guns.

No, I suggest replacing the autocannons with shotguns if we can. And, of course, boarding armor. Or whatever you wanna call it. Heavier armor in front.
>>
Shop List.

2X Dual Band Radar - 200: Significantly increases a Gunpla's detection capabilities (Balls)
2XBeam Rifle - 200: The basic beam rifle. It is a semi-automatic weapon that fires powerful energy beams that cut through most armor with ease. (Balls) (We can convert the Duel Autocannon into a single mount back where it used to be and make the beam rifles onto the arm mounts)
)
Heat Knife - 50: A basic and compact melee weapon. Not too powerful nor does it have a lot of reach, but it's compact enough that it doesn't take up a hardpoint slot when equipped. (GM)

3XPanzerfaust - 50: Smaller and lighter than the bazooka, the panzerfaust can fire a single, powerful unguided rocket. Can carry up to 3 panzerfausts without taking up a hardpoint. (GM)

roughly around 1000 credits in total

Let's get the situation on the rest of the team's upgrades. We don't know what Karen's put on the Overflag, if she's put anything at all. She could be saving up for something. "Um, maybe delay it for tomorrow. I think I want to do some last minute adjustments to my GM." You say.

"Understandable." Karen nods. "We'll schedule it for tomorrow after school."

With that, the bell rings and you all separate to head back to class. Of course, it's boring as hell, but you power through it. Finally, the final bell rings and everybody starts packing up. You do the same, and are about to head out the front door when you see Charlotte waiting for you.

"Hey, Jack, I understand you want to get started on your suit and all, but I was thinking..."

"Thinking what?" You raise an eyebrow.

Well the Radar is necessary especially in the long run.

More Panzerfaust never hurts.

The Heat Knife, well might be a good backup melee if we need it or if we fight someone with Anti-Beam coating.

The Beam Rifles? Well the increase firepower never hurts and we can restore the original mounting for the autocannons and adding the beam rifles on the arm mounts instead we increase the firepower tremendously

"Yeah, we can try that." You nod.

"Cool." Charlotte grins. "I think I know just where to find them."

Charlotte leads you to the gym, where the main battle tables are set up. There, you can see quite a number of students hanging about, some doing scrim or practice matches while others observed. You had to assume that most of these guys were from other teams.

"So, uh, how are you going to find them?" You ask.

"Like this." Charlotte steps forward. "YO! ARE THE MOLE RATS HERE?!"

A trio of punky looking guys come sauntering over.

"Oy, somebody calling us out?" The tall, dark haired boy grunts."

"Hey, at least it's a cutie." The blonde member grins.

"U-um what does she want?" The third member, who looks to be the shortest and cowering behind the first member, pokes his head out nervously.

"Well, I heard you guys were big boys on the block." Charlotte grins. "I was hoping I could get a match in. That is, unless you're scared?"

"US? SCARED?!" The taller member laughs. "Who the hell do you think we are?"

"Well why don't you show me?" Charlotte grins. "Name's Charlotte, by the way."

"Ken. President of the Mole Rats. We gonna get this started?"

"Oh yeah." Charlotte grins.

As Ken retreats to go get his Gunpla, Charlotte makes her way back to you.

"So, uh, should I use the Zaku or the Crimson Zulu?" She whispers.

"Got it." Charlotte nods and takes out her red Zaku, still unchanged from last you saw it.

"Okay, let's do this!" Ken says, bringing out what seems to be an Acguy. However, this one was modified with a lot of extra armor, and its arms ended with a pair of massive, nasty looking drills. There was also a large missile pod on its back that sort of gave it the appearance of a hedgehog.

"Aw, this is gonna be easy." Charlotte grins.

"I wouldn't get ahead of myself there." You warn.

BEGINNING PLAVSKY PARTICLE DISPERSAL

STAGE: DESERT

You watch as the stage constructs itself, and both Charlotte's Zaku and Ken's Acguy launch into position. Charlotte is already on the move, while the Acguy points its drills downward and activates them. The spinning drills kick up a huge cloud of dust, obscuring it from view. Once the dust clears, the Acguy is gone.

Charlotte ranges out, quickly and carefully. However, the harsh desert sand gives no indication of where the Acguy might be. Every shift in the sand could be the wind, from the Zaku's own footsteps, or the movement of the Acguy under the ocean of sand...

Somehow, whether through instinct or from some kind of sensor, Charlotte puts her Zaku in a roll just as the Acguy's twin drills burst from the sand, narrowing missing her. Charlotte brings her beam rifle into line, the the drills sink back into the sand just as quickly as they appeared.

So it seemed like these suits could treat sand like water.

The attacks continue, with the Acguy mercilessly trying to drill the Zaku as Charlotte manages to keep rolling it away at the last second. Finally, she engages the Zaku's boosters and elevates it above the ground. As it hovers, the Acguy does not attack again. Curious, you lean in closer, and you manage to catch it.

You see some sand shift and part as the Acguy's head breaks the surface, its monoptic glowing dully in the desert air. You see it visually confirm the Zaku's location before sinking back down.

So, they obviously couldn't see when underground, which mean they had to rely on sensors to detect you. You assume it's some kind of seismic sensor or something like that, considering they lost track of Charlotte the moment she left the ground.

It seems like Charlotte caught it, too, and she cuts her engines, slamming the Zaku back down on the sand. The Acguy bursts out again, but this time Charlotte is ready. She drops her beam rifle and grabs one of the drills as it breaks the surface. You see the Zaku shake and shudder as its hands get torn up by the spinning drill, but eventually the drill grinds to a halt as the Zaku tightens its grip. Then with a mighty pull, the Zaku yanks the Acguy partly out of the sand, revealing its bulbous head. The Zaku then grabs and heat hawk and slams it right down on the Acguy's exposed head again and again. The head splits apart like a melon and the Acguy's mono-optic goes dark.

BATTLE ENDED

"Well, that's what I'm good at." Charlotte smiles. "Anyways, good game."

"Yeah, whatever." Ken picks up his Acguy and sulks off, his two subordinates trailing close behind.

"So, you learn anything?" Charlotte asks as she packs up her Zaku.

"A lot, actually." You nod. "They're just as blind as we would be wen they're underground. They rely on sensors to detect us that way."

"Yep." Charlotte nods. "And they move damn fast in sand, too. I've noticed they try to avoid rocky areas, too. Guess its harder to drill through those."

"And it would leave a trail." You add.

Given what we learned, wouldn't this make the Tusker the only unit their team can consistently track?
It's not like it can fly or hover indefinitely. Are we gonna relegate it to bait duty?

I was talking about the roll. Though I do doubt the usefulness of radar vs underground targets, it is probably a good idea in the long run.

Merc, What happened to our +1 in speed for our Gunpla, and we added countermeasure suite on our Balls right?
>>

Yeah, I thought the pastebin for our suit was kinda screwy.

Our heavy shield slows us a bit remember.
>>
>>32911918
It was on the previous pastebin in the last thread.

Also our Balls should have given us +1 to their speed
>>
>>32911746
We should look into getting it a scale system from SEED. Or hoverthrusters. Either would do the job. Hoverthrusters might be better, if only because then we could configure them to also work in space. Turning the TUSKER into a pseudo-mobile armor is how I see it eventually developing into. Not quite a mobile armor's level of hugeness, so it wouldn't be loaded down with goodies, but a little bit of the "flying gun platform" theme would be logical for it to acquire.
>>
>>32911953
So we give it a hover tank chasis a-la Armored Core.
I can dig it
>>
>>32911953
I don't get why Jake doesn't just use the tank. It even looks dead on like a late 20th century Russian MBT, and we can all agree that those are the best looking tanks of all.

not to mention you can actually swag shit out in GBF.
>>

>>32912302
Nope. Regular cannons. It's a bit of an oversight that they never properly explain and Tomino doesn't count as canon. According to his preferred vision of the series, instead of taking the Guntank into space they swap it out for another Guncannon. That's how it is in the compilation movies, anyway. At least the Guncannon can do AMBAC maneuvering to counter the spin firing the shoulder cannons imparts.

Radar for the balls and a heat knife for us..

I am thinking of saving for the Jesta or RX
>>
>>32913067
I think for now a beam spear would be the best investment. Something with the reach to fend away the Mole Rats as they emerge. Any other upgrades would be redundant at this point. Maybe add radar systems to the Balls for even more sensors. I believe we still have an internal hardpoint on them that's unused. So that would be what, 550 credits total?
>>
>>32913067
I'm thinking two Beam Spray Guns for our balls, and... hmm.
Can we fit a spike shield on a ball?
If so, two spike shields, bringing us to 600. If not, 400.
>>
>>32913067
Save for the Jesta
>>
>>32913146
I do agree with you but even I know that's not going to happen.
>>
>>32913067

>2X Dual Band Radar - 200: Significantly increases a Gunpla's detection capabilities (Balls)

>2X Beam Rifle - 200: The basic beam rifle. It is a semi-automatic weapon that fires powerful energy beams that cut through most armor with ease. (Balls) (We can convert the Duel Autocannon into a single mount back where it used to be and make the beam rifles onto the arm mounts)

>Heat Knife - 50: A basic and compact melee weapon. Not too powerful nor does it have a lot of reach, but it's compact enough that it doesn't take up a hardpoint slot when equipped. (GM)

>3X Panzerfaust - 50: Smaller and lighter than the bazooka, the panzerfaust can fire a single, powerful unguided rocket. Can carry up to 3 panzerfausts without taking up a hardpoint. (GM)
>>
>>32913067
> Dual Band Radar - 200 x 2
> Heat Knife - 50
= 450
>>
>>32913146
So are we liking the Jesta more than the 78? I think it is better looking and canonically more powerful, but some anon pointed out there is something special about "iconic" suits?
>>
>>32913067
>Duel Band X 2 (For Balls)

> Beam Rifles x 2 (For Balls, convert autocannons back into original mount)

>Heat Knife (GM)

>Panzerfaust x 3 (GM)

=1000
>>
>>32913195
Either one would work. We need something with greater performance and more hardpoints in the end and the more advanced suits can probably fit more internal components and more advanced internal components.
>>
>>32913195
The problem is one Anon can mouth off about one thing and what Merc runs is another so take anything they say with a grain of salt.

I'm still going to vote for a Jesta because I flat out love it.
>>
>>32913067
Guys, I think we're fine with the loadout. Can we just save our cash for something we'd really need later?
>>
>>32913195
I'm going to vote for the RX-78 because it's radical.
>>
>>32913246
No because /tg/ must spend money no matter what.
>>
>>32913246
We can take on another tournament besides most of these are relatively cheap but can increase firepower and senors
>>
>>32913195
It's unclear. Iconic suits would probably have some advantages just because there will be better kits available for them. But there's nothing intrinsic to them that would make them better. Ultimately the defining factor is quality of the build. We could easily make the Jesta just as good if not better than the RX-78, regardless of its iconic status.

>>32913227
True. And the Jesta would might be more inline with our idea of "Run what you like" as well as being a real kick in the nuts for the gunpla club to lose to.

>>32913246
Doesn't seem that way. I think blowing 1000 points is way to much for a marginal improvement of our capabilities, but whatever. I cast my vote.
>>
>>32913067
>>32913111
>>32913160

Supporting these, we need the senors in the long run, adding firepower to our harassment never hurts,

>>
>>32913278

>>
>>32913290
Some people truly believe players think their actions through. Funny, right?
>>
>>32913282
Yeah. I'd want a beam spear if only because I think reach would be nice, but it's not essential. I think it's a sunk cost fallacy thing. We already declared that we were going to take extra time to tune our suit, so by god we're going to upgrade this thing whether it needs it or not. Can't we upgrade it without buying new stuff, though? Before the tournament we improved its reaction times by working on the joints, we should be able to do the same sort of thing here.

"Fair enough." Mason nods. "Well, you know where to look if you change your mind."

You head back to the table, where Karen and Charlotte are still working away at upgrading the Overflag. You also see Holly has joined them. Though she's not actually working, she looks intently and sometimes adds in her snippet of input every now and then.

"Oh, hey Jack!" She smiles. "So how's that new GN drive working for you?"

"It's working good." You nod. "But it kinda sucks that it can't Trans-Am."

"Now Jack, you know I did that because I'm not sure the GM's frame can handle it." Holly frowns. "I mean, if you really, REALLY want to risk, I'll do it..."

Improve the Ai.

>>
>>32914148
Meh that would depend on what you wanted to get as a fresh start, while also considering that full kits are more expensive than conversions. I mean, we aren't that bad yet.

What specifically don't you like? That we are just slapping shit on when ever we get some points to spend?
>>
>>32914191
Yeah, that's a big part of it. We've got no real direction to the suit, other than "grunt machines are awesome". Our suit feels bland. Even the Balls are kind of boring, now. We're more focused on optimizing the Juggler than on making it interesting. Maybe if there was just more of a cohesive design aesthetic to it I'd like it more. Seeing how the NPC party members are upgrading in cool and thematic ways just makes ours seem more of the odd man out.
>>
>>32914279
Different anon here, so what do you think should be a theme? (Ace Combat, Knights, Operators, etc.)
>>
>>32914279
The Juggler system is kinda the theme here... Themes don't need to be all shock and awe.
>>
>>32914279
It seems the direction we're going is Jesta or bust then move on to buy another suit

We gained an upgrade perk too, which was the GN Drive and Merc gave us the option back then to put ideas to improve the suit.
>>
>>32914309
>then move on to buy another suit

Where does this keep coming from and why in gods name do you think this is a good idea when we barely get enough to keep this one upgraded.
>>
>>32914301
Last thread I suggested a puppet/ marionette theme since we're moving in the direction of a battlefield command unit (or puppet master what with out minions)
>>
>>32914325

We'll probably have the time to buy a new suit when this entire Gunpla club thing is over.
>>
>>32914301
Different anon here too,
but at first we jokingly using solo-wing as our motif. Our Juggler also painted in Solo-Wing paint scheme. At least we should worked from here.

>>32914308
Or using bits/funnel. I already given up with transformable gimmics anyway, so bits?
>>
>>32914325
It's not my opinion but this is what I sometimes feel when we talk about the Jesta.

The Jesta or RX-78 is the final conversion for our suit. yet people are saving up for it. then what?

Then we optimize it more with maybe some of the equipment we might have bought before?

or some anons will feel bored and will want to go onto the next shiny
>>
>>32914341
The problem still lies in the fact we would have to upgrade it to at least the level of whatever we're using at that time. I doubt we'll have that kind of money to drop on it.
>>
>>32914279
Meh, I am not huge on themes. That is what npcs are for: also consider the fact that we don't have a really strong personality that would go with something like that. I like the idea of us being an all-rounder.

And thankfully the "grunt machines are awesome" train seems to have slowed down considerably.
>>
>>32914308
I don't want shock and awe, I just want the suit to be more cohesive. We're just slapping on parts. I have no problem with using the Juggler system. It has potential to be interesting. I just don't think we're living up to it.

>>32914309
See, that's the problem. We're focused on upgrading to the Jesta not because it fits any theme of ours, but because "oh man, the Jesta is so cool, I love that thing". Yes, it would be an improvement over the GM. But that's not going to make it any more interesting. We're getting sidetracked by what's cool in the show instead of making our own coolness.
>>
I wonder would converting to another MS open up other conversion packs to use?

>>32914383
I wonder if this would go better in /m/ or not at times considering how the typical thought process (if there's one) is ooh cool!
>>
>>32914346
You know, if we go for this theme of Jesters, Jugglers, and random flamboyant stuff added on. We might as well have a high mobility suit painted like a circus performer/ Harlequin.
>>
>>32914376
It doesn't have to be a major theme. Just an aesthetic. Like the Qubeley Papillion. Its armor sets it apart from other Gunpla, but doesn't really have anything to do with how it operates.
>>
>>32914412
I guess it also allows us to be a FABULOUS as we want...
>>
>>32914383

>>
>>32914579
We don't need more radars. Radar doesn't penetrate ground very well unless it's a specialized type (appropriately called "ground-penetrating radar"). That's the reason they're using sonar and not radar. Adding radar units on the Balls wouldn't have helped us that much. It would have given us a wider sensor net to cover more range, but it wouldn't let us detect the Mole Rats beneath the ground. And they're going to be close by when they pop up, anyway, so it's not a major concern.
>>
>>32914579
This attitude of choosing only one "end of the extreme" or the other is another bad habit of /tg/ quest anons.
No room for compromise whatsoever.

Hey Merc; I don't know if some criticism would be out of line or not but

"H-hey! Not while I'm working!" Holly giggles as she sets down one of your Balls to bat your hand away. "I gotta put these back together, you know!"

You then turn around to check on Karen and Charlotte. They seem to be getting along pretty well, all things considered.

"I"m really liking how you built your Overflag." Charlotte whistles as she gives Karen's Gunpla a close inspection. "You know, an Overflag was actually my second choice after the Kampfer."

"What was the deciding factor?" Karen asks politely.

"Well," Charlotte carefully hands the Overflag back to Karen and gives a bit of a smug grin. "I kinda found out I liked to shoot shit up more than stabbing it."

"But I've seen from your replays that you're not afraid getting in close." You insert yourself into the conversation. "You know, all those beam axes and everything."

"Gotta cover my bases, you know." Charlotte laughs. "I don't have a pair of balls to continually watch my back."

If Trans-Am isn't viable at this juncture, something that'll make the most use of excess GN Particle output.

Maybe a Beam Saber or Beam Rifle with longer reach?
Or a limited utility of condensing the particles close to the unit to buffer it from attacks (like a limited version of Virtue's GN Shield)?
Heck, maybe even focus the condensation on the shield itself to strengthen it?

I'd say the answer to that is a definite yes. Really, that's the answer to anything about G Gundam. "Could X do Y?" Yes. Yes X can.

>>32915133
I guess that's one way to stop the Colony Drop plan.

Ya, this and that inuyasha quest are the only active two quests I can think of where the authors very clearly prefer writing combat than anything else.

Joker Quest?

And because it seems like almost all of the player base really doesn't care about bitches, it should simply never devolve into arguing.

Just trying to spur some discussion geared at the social aspect of the quest since it might be a nice distraction after the earlier shit.

"So, Charlotte." You say, leaning forward on the table. "How are you finding school?"

"Ah, well, it's exciting, and stressful, and incredibly boring all at the same time." Charlotte laughs. "I mean, I'm not used to being packed in a tiny room with so many people."

"Hey, at least you seem to be pretty popular." You assure her. "Believe me, there's nothing worse than having a bad first impression."

"Speaking from experience?" Charlotte raises an eyebrow.

"Well, for pretty much all of middle school, for starters, half the class thought I was dating Holly." You roll your eyes. Now that you think about it, the whole thing was pretty silly. "So they'd tease me about being a 'siscon'."

"Siscon?" Charlotte blinks.

"It's better you don't know what that means." You shake your head and chuckle. "No other problems? Homework's not too tough, you're finding your way around?"

"Ah well, the schoolwork is pretty much the same, but I have NO GODDAMN IDEA how you people can memorize six different classrooms!" Charlotte throws her hands up in the air. "Why can't you people just keep everything in one room?"

"You know, I never actually thought about that." You put a hand to your chin. "Holly, do you know why?"

"I'm still in middle school, why are you asking me?" Your sister rolls her eyes, which elicits a laugh from all of you.

It's ok.
The first few you can tell he's new to the whole thing, but he took a lot of critique to heart and is FAR better than he was the first few threads. I'd say give it a look if you're vaguely interested in the concept the original source material had, but keep in mind it's still very young.

Not at all weirded out by Amy's take on Gunpla battle? Or perhaps she's seen weirder stuff in the rest of the Gunpla Battle circuit?

She's met Fellini, I'm sure she's been exposed to all sorts of weirdness. Hell, she's probably met Team NTR, even.

Thanks. As long as they can into English well, the rest is less important. Because I simply can't stand bad English; takes me right out of the story.

>>32915316
I would imagine it being a sorta QM critique, via the character. Though doing social stuff might open up a better option when talking to Char at a later date, if your guess was on point. We just don't know.

well it seems some writers favor combat and/or hijinks, though I wonder what's causing Merc to skimp on characters.

They might not be very well thought out? I mean the only ones we know much about are Char and maybe Amy and with the latter all it amounts to is her whole "Newtype shtick" from like 7 threads ago.
>>
>>32915454
Also about Holly, and Mac, and a bit about Lucina
>>
>>32915454
I mean he used to do things better in the past (VMQ), though this might be suffering from the fact he's doing three quests and they get the better chunk of characterization.

Because it's mostly focus on gunpla
>>
>>32915471
Right, right. Though all I racall about Holly is: Sister, likes Balls, has heard every ball joke ever by now, does not want onii-chan dick.

Mac: Likes Freedom, probably has a hamburger in his backpack for emergencies.

Luci: Old friends, latino, mother lets us sleep over in the same room, knows shit all about gundam, battoru life chose her not the other way around

So, yeah, I will admit we know a bit about some of the others.

"So, Charlotte, what do you think about our little ragtag group here, then?" You ask.

"Hm, well, you all certainly have promise." Charlotte leans back in seat, suddenly looking far more introspective. "I mean, you all clearly have the passion and the talent. You just gotta decide how far you want to go."

"Uh huh..." You nod.

"Anyways... individually? Lucina and Amy are definitely shaping up to be pretty lethal close combat monsters. I mean, Exia and Deathscythe have traditionally always been pretty nasty suits to get in a knife fight with. " Charlotte's face scrunches up, as if recalling some pretty nasty past matches. "Mac seems to be shaping up to be a good all rounder. Problem is that I don't think he has a clear idea of where he wants to take his suit other than the AMERICA FUCK YEAH theme. I mean, does he want to punch things? Shoot them? He's sorta going to have to decide. I got a real soft spot for Jake, though. Big guns never tire, you know? It's just a pity that Guntanks are so damn specialized. They're pretty easy to hard counter, which is why you never see them in 1v1 matches."

"Interesting." You nod. "What about me?"

"Ha. If you can take off the kid gloves and take a step up from that old GM frame, you'll be making a lot of fighters cry. I mean, I can understand the sentimentality of your first Gunpla and everything, but at some point the bird's gotta leave the nest."

"I'll keep that in mind." You nod.

"All right, kids, shouldn't you all be going home? It's still a school night, you know." Mason calls out from the counter.

"I don't recall you being my dad!" You retort.

"Considering it's my store, I may as well be." Mason grins. "Come on. I gotta close up for the night."

Goddamn, has that much time passed already?

>>32915581

"All right, come on, Holly." You say, helping her pack up your GM and Balls. You then turn to Charlotte and Karen. "Guess I'll see you two tomorrow?"

"Yes. I hope you'll be adequately prepared for the match tomorrow." Karen nods at you.

"I will."

"I'll be watching, too. Gotta see if you guys got what it takes to climb to the top!" Charlotte grins. "Don't disappoint me!"

"As if!" You laugh and fistbump her.

----

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I saw the official paperwork and everything. They're fighting the Mole Rats tomorrow."

"Interesting..."

"Should we do anything?"

"No. We'll wait and see. Hopefully the Mole Rats will do our work for us. Send them my regards."

"Understood."

Was it possible to have upgraded our suit and had the match tonight?

I think you messed up the pastebin.

How did you feel about today's thread.

See you next week, Merc. This was fun, even if we got sidetracked for a while.
>>

It's been messed up the last three threads.

Keikaku dori...

Anyway, thanks for running merc. You ensure my weekends are always fun, even if other QMs flake.
>>
>>32915603
You probably could've gotten to the match if you fast tracked everything! And there will probably be more tournaments, but probably not that many. They can get pretty time consuming.

And yeah, I used the wrong file for the pastebin. I'll get that fixed.

And for how I feel about this thread? Just another one like any other, both good and bad!
>>
>>32915637
So don't count on them.
>>
>>32915637
If we go for a cheaper conversion would the other suits be cheaper or stay the same price?

How does the AI system of the Balls go into roll or how will it effect it now.

Will their be ways to improve the system?
>>
>>32915581
>"Ha. If you can take off the kid gloves and take a step up from that old GM frame, you'll be making a lot of fighters cry. I mean, I can understand the sentimentality of your first Gunpla and everything, but at some point the bird's gotta leave the nest."

Now I want to just spite her, and get a GMIII
>>
>>32915660
>If we go for a cheaper conversion would the other suits be cheaper or stay the same price?
Other suits would probably get slightly cheaper, but not by much.

>How does the AI system of the Balls go into roll or how will it effect it now.
They'll act a bit more autonomously now.

>Will their be ways to improve the system?
Only if you seriously invest in a better one.
>>
>>32915637
>Just another one like any other, both good and bad!
Good attitude to have.
Also Holly best imouto: How many sisters out there would sacrifice some of there Ball parts just to make there brother's Jimmy more useful?
>>
>>32915681
Is their a system to this on how the Ball acts in battle? Or is it just related to directs and plot the players.

Will other suits will be unlocked if we upgrade the frame?
>>
>>32915681
>Only if you seriously invest in a better one.

Well I guess it is head first into the Funnel tunnel. Maybe.
>>
>>32915681
How far can we push the limits of the GN Drive short of Trans-Am?

Would it need modifications on the weapons and shields to fully utilize the GN particles? Will a chance to do so present itself in the future?

And besides converting to another kit, is there any other method of strengthening the frame of the GM? (Sandwiching thin layers of Bandai plastic or any other sturdy material into the armor, like what Sei did to the Star Build Strike's shield.)
>>
>>32915718
The what?
>>
>>32915681
Will we be able to get the other systems you told us, like the I-Field, regeneration etc?
>>
>>32915738
Since he said the balls were going to be limited if we didn't invest a substantial amount into them, Funnels or Bits would be a natural step, since those are relevant even on super high spec suits.
>>
>>32915823
No, he said they can be improved on if we invest in them like everything else we do.

If we suddenly shift to bits and funnels then all the time and effort will be lost
>>
>>32915862
>Will their be ways to improve the system?
>Only if you seriously invest in a better one.

Was he talking about the GN system or something? I thought merc was referring to the Mobile Doll System.
>>
>>32915893
I think the Mobile Doll System but I'm not sure funnel or bits are the next step also we already invested into them especially the Balls.
>>
>>32915917
Well they are basically beam rifles with thrusters right? So that alone would give them greater mobility. Plus I imagine we could mount 2-3 of them where the Ball hard points use to be, so they sound a bit better, assuming they work under normal gravity.
>>
>>32915957
But we have more fire powers with the balls and I think their faster with the GN Drive.

Not to mention we can put on better equipment for them like radar, or better weapons to expand our sensor fields.

Not to mention we got the ECM Suite from our Gn Drive.

Funnels are small beam rifles with thrusters. but the Balls are mobile weapon's platforms
>>
>>32915994

That can have anti-beam coating applied to them.
>>
Speculation time!

>8. Night Terrors: Specialize in quick strikes, ambushes, and stealth.
I'm reminded of this unit.
http://gundam.wikia.com/wiki/NRX-007_Correl
But there's no way a team is stupid enough to field something that can be taken down by vulcans, right?

> 6. Three Brothers: Only three members, but highly organized and coordinated at a level beyond most other teams
This might be some Frost brothers or Light/Shadow of Callisto tier combat level, only they are triplets.
In terms of Mobile Suits, maybe it'll feature the Core Block systems being used and abused?

> 5. Silver Wing: Mostly uses Gundam Wing Gunpla.
Hate to perpetuate some stereotypes, but I have a feeling that most of their members are fujoshi.
>>
>>32916148
The Balls or the Funnels?

I'm pretty sure the balls can
>>
>>32916171

The balls.

Much more fire power, no need to return to recharge and higher survivability.
>>
>>32916191
Agreed, or install the I-Field, if we can. Pretty sure that will install anti-beam coating as well
