I'm seeing things, I can't tell if anything is real anymore.

There's a girl, dressed in a very strange outfit. It's hard to see through the rain and the fog. Her entire form is covered by some kind of shell that's blocking the rain from her body. Beside her is a woman in an elegant dress, the rain seems to pass straight through her. The woman is clearly panicking, but the girl appears to be completely calm and serene. The girl's hand stretches outward, she says something, and all the rain disappears. In her hand is now something square, and glowing. The lady looks overjoyed, but then disappears in an instant.

That girl, how did she do that?
--

I'm on my back, this bed is lumpy, outside the room is noisy. There's no way I can stay asleep like this. Feet shuffle just outside the door with various murmuring and conversation. Something on my arm hurts as well. It's too dark to see what is going on.

>Speaking of which, what should I do next?
>>
>>32962750
Turn on the light so you can see what's going on with your arm, of course.

>>
Blindly flailing my arm around; I can feel several objects on the desk next to the bed. One of them feels sharp, the other feels dull.. and that feels like a switch. A quick click turns it on and illuminates at least some part of the room.

The light is blinding and painful, almost as if I've never used my eyes before. The dull, amber light glows softly. Looking over to the desk, I see that the objects I had my hands on were a pen, and what seems like a small medical hammer. My arm still hurts a bit, am I in the hospital?

I'm in a terrible hospital if I'm in one. The corner of the room has office chairs stacked on top of one another. And this bed, I'm not even sure it's a bed, it seems more like a cot with a futon draped over it. If I were to roll over, I would have fallen right out. Don't hospital rooms typically have windows, too?

Something on my arm is itching. I feel nothing but hatred for the feeling. Looking at it, it appears to be a small tube held on with a bandage on my forearm. It's attached to a machine that is held against the wall with freshly placed screws.

I just kicked something onto the floor, it looks like a clipboard?

What do I do first?

>Examine Clipboard

I'm scared.

I'm not going to lie to myself; I want to just lay below the sheets and disappear somewhere else right now, anywhere but here. The sounds outside the door are menacing, the layout of the room is confusing, and this tube is driving me up the wall. At least I can do something about one of those things.

The tube slowly slides out, a small spot of blood seeps into the bandage. At least now I can stand up and walk around some.

My legs crack and pop as I stand. Standing feels awkward, like I really haven't done this in a long time. I don't even want to consider the possibility that I've been in the hospital in a coma for years or whatever.

First, that clipboard.

And it's blank, weird

There are some lines and dashes on it that I don't really understand. But there's nothing in the spaces that have my name, my date of birth, my age, nothing. It's completely blank other than the diagnostics on it.

Maybe they don't know my name. I find that to be really dumb, my name is obviously-

.. I said my name is obviously-

Let's look at the mirror for a moment, maybe it will come back to me.

The mirror feels like looking into a completely different world with someone else staring back at me. I don't recognize this girl at all. I know that it has to be me, but everything about this feels wrong. I remember having black hair, I think? Well, maybe not, if I can't remember my name, how can I possibly remember having black hair.

The room doesn't contain anything else of value, some filing cabinets (why filing cabinets in a hospital room?) the wall looks to be recently put in.

Maybe this is some kind of creepy dungeon. What should I do about all this?

>Listen to the door, hear if anyone is coming
>I know I have a name! I just got to remember what it is.
>Check the room more closely, in the cabinets, everywhere. There has to be more info about you
>This place sucks, I'm leaving.
>>
>>32963742
>Check the room more closely, in the cabinets, everywhere. There has to be more info about you

Okay, I just have to stay calm. Calm and collected.

First thing is first, I need to get something to protect myself with. The rubber mallet is right out, so I guess that just leaves the pin.

All the cabinets are empty, there's some more discussion outside the room that seems to be getting louder. If I don't listen to it now, I'm not sure I'll be able to later.

The door is clad in cold, hard metal. The whispering noise on this side of the door are likely extremely loud on that side. There's some discussion about statistics, printouts, meetings. Something about a CEO, and something about a CEO coming down to visit the floor.

I have to leave now.

But the knob isn't turning, it's locked on the other side.

Breathe calmly, everything is under control-

Except everything isn't under control. I'm stuck in a room with strange people outside, everything is dark and noisy and oh god I just want to go home. Wherever home is, I want to go there.

The door doesn't budge an inch from some banging, and I don't think they can hear me from the outside.

Can I start crying now? I think now would be a good time to cry some.

No, no, now isn't the time to cry. I need to find a way out. Maybe

The sub-ceiling. That's how people get to the wiring until the floor above this one, right? They get into the sub-ceiling and search around there.

I can stand on the filing cabinet to get into it.

The filing cabinet is balanced well enough to where I can climb on top of it. I press one of the tiles and it slides upward. Now I just need to lift myself up into the ceiling and then-

The ceiling is dark, the metal post I grabbed on to is connected to the top of one of the florescent lights. I can't really do a pull-up using it, but if I can swing my leg around, I could hook my heel around another post that's in the ceiling and hoist myself on top of the lights. I think they can support my weight.

I can feel my arms straining, my fingers are swelling, I'm not sure how much longer I can keep this up. My leg strains heavily, dragging myself along into the ceiling.

Here is where I suddenly realized the flaw in my plan. From this light, which is firmly connected to a beam right above me, I can't see anywhere else to go. There's another light I could jump to, but that only leads to the other room over. And I really, really don't want to fall from this distance. Maybe if I could-

A click suddenly sounds from below. The sound of air rushing out of the room sounds from the now-misplaced ceiling tile. Someone just opened the door and is coming in.

Oh god

Oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god oh god

"HEY!" a gruff, irritated voice sounds from below, "you should-"

"Stop."

Another voice interrupts him, a much softer, calming voice fills the room. It sounds like a middle-aged woman who has that voice. There's something about the voice that feels, correct. Like it speaks to every part of you.

She continues, "I'll handle this from here, you should just wait outside."
The man starts to say something, but immediately changes his tone, "Yes Ma'am".

The door closes. It's now just you and her in the room.

"Sweetie? Can you please come down?" Oh god, she's right under the panel. "I really want to meet you".

I want to go home.

Really badly.

It starts as a small mist. A light rain, a feeling of exasperation and loneliness. Then it gets dark, the skies open up, and it starts to pour.

I'm not entirely sure what happens in the next few minutes, except for me gripping the post with a death grip while bawling. But I need to stop, I need to move on. I can't stay here forever.

"A-are you still there?" a sniffle breaks the tough, confident tone that I attempted to project.

"Yes, I am. You can stay up there as long as you feel comfortable" her voice is still strong and proud, it's insulting.

I wish she would stop, what is with that tone; "What do YOU want? I can stay up here if you want to just talk".

"It's true, I don't just want to talk." She lets out a soft giggle. " I also want to hug you, maybe take you out for some ice cream, and then take you home."

This went from strange to suspicious to scary to I can't take it anymore, can I just go back to crying? The tears have certainly started to flow again.

There's a knock on the door, the lady walks away for a minute and then comes back.

"Please, take your time. I can answer everything you want from down here".

"THEN WHY AM I IN THIS ROOM?" again, failing to project that aura of confidence. "WHO ARE YOU, WHY AM I LOCKED IN AND WHY DOESN'T ANYONE KNOW MY NAME?"

"I understand you woke up someplace unfamiliar with lots of scary people around you. I know the feeling well" She says with a slight pause at the end. "I'm here because I want to help you, I want you to start the life a girl of your age should be living".

I really hate the way she is not answering any of my questions, she interrupts my retort "As for your name, I've been thinking about what that should be for a while. How about 'Haruko'?"

She's been thinking about what my name SHOULD be? "What are you, did you kidnap me from somewhere?"

She stifles a laugh, "No no, it's nothing like that. Come down, I can maybe show you what it is instead"

If I'm going to keep dealing with this woman, I'm going to at least look her in the eyes.

Carefully, I bend over and look through the hole in the ceiling. She's standing there, looking up at me. She has black, slick hair. A very annoying smile, and she's wearing a typical business-suit.

She smiles and waves

I pull away and get angry. "Why are you here in the first place, why are you so smug and vague?"

This isn't getting me anywhere, I need to keep going. There's another...something hanging down from the ceiling. I think it's a vent of some kind. If I'm lucky, I can jump to it without bumping my head on the narrow height of the ceiling.

"I'm here to take you home of course. You can't live a normal life living in the ceiling like a spider."
Ugh, the smug just pours from her voice.

My body lurches forward, the entire platform I was standing on creaks and twists from the strain.

And my foot catches the top of the vent!

Just in time for my other foot to firmly plant itself on the foam tile next to it.

It breaks in half and I fall straight through.

This is it, I'm going to die in a creepy room with creepy ladies and oh god why did it have to be this way.

Except I'm not feeling the pain of landing head-first onto the bed or the floor.

I'm feeling something soft

And warm.

The lady, she's holding me. And now she's hugging me, really tightly.

"Why did you do something like that?" The calmness has left her voice, only worry is in its place "Do you have any idea how scared you made me?"

No, if I'm not in control of anything, I at least want to be in control of my name.

"Masami" you say, coldly.
"Huh?"
Your lips contort into a small pout, "I want to be called Masami"

"Well", she hesitates slightly, not that she has any right to name you "That is a very cute name you've chosen for yourself". She releases me from her vice grip. We're both sitting on the bed now, arms length from one another.

"Who do you think you are?" I ask, "Why did you think you had authority to name me? Shouldn't that be my parents job?"

She smiles, "Then I would think that I would be the best person to name you"

This isn't getting me anywhere. "..If you can't tell me anything about yourself, maybe you can tell me about myself". At the very least I want to know how long I've been asleep.

She looks away, takes a phone out of her pocket.
"Three hours, ten minutes and thirty seconds"

Without even thinking, I reply "Huh?" at such a baffling response to what is otherwise a clear question

"That's how long it has been since you were born" Her head tilts slightly and she smiles.

What

My eyes lose focus, her face becomes a blur. And then
"Oh I get it, you almost got me with that one!" I reply

"Oh?" She replies, no hint of sarcasm just yet.

Really, does she think I'm an idiot? "I mean, looking past the fact that I had a dream, have memories, can speak, and am at least 14 or so years old, that is really mean to tell someone who has been in a coma for who knows how long"

She seems a tad bit sad with that response, but who cares, really screw her for doing that to me.

"Fair enough" she replies, "We'll just say that you've been in a coma for a very long time and just woke up with no recollection of the events."

"Exactly." There, that was all she had to tell me. "So how old am I really?"

She smiles, "I don't know, let's say 13, you were born on the moon and your parents are two little green men." her smile spreads as she moves in to hug again. "But that kind of thing is banned in space so that's why I'm your mommy now".

She stops for a few seconds, pondering, pondering, this is taking an awfully long time to do something as simple as remember what her name is. Now she's really concentrating.

She finally stops and replies, "..Was it Haruko?"

NO THAT'S THE NAME YOU WANTED TO GIVE ME

"Please try again." I say dryly. This lady is off her meds, it seems.

"Oh! That's it!" she says as if she's had an epiphany. "I was called Izumi."

"Izumi.", forgive me if I'm being skeptical, lady.

"And you're in the office building of my company. I'm sorry that this room is kind of messy, it was really just a storage closet before I had you" She smiles. I'm glad she thinks this is funny because I certainly don't.

"Want me to give you a look around? We can go get food and I can show you around town, like the school you'll be going to and the house you'll be living in."

>Fine, I at least want to know what kind of 'company' you run and if it involves whips and screaming
>I'd rather ask more questions
>STRANGER DANGER

Wow the formatting came out really badly for this post.

Next post is probably the last one for the night. Also future titles will be "Card Princess Masami" unless people disagree.

>>STRANGER DANGER
NOPE
>>
>>32967433
>Fine, I at least want to know what kind of 'company' you run and if it involves whips and screaming
Let's at least see what shit she has in store before we cheese it

>Fine, I at least want to know what kind of 'company' you run and if it involves whips and screaming

Going with her on a tour gives us a chance to gather some intel, and scope out possible escape routes.

>>32967459
I thought we were a Priestess, not a Princess.
>>
>>32967433
>Fine, I at least want to know what kind of 'company' you run and if it involves whips and screaming
>Then I want some food
after eating,
>NOW, I'm walking out the door and never coming back, because clearly you don't want to explain anything important.
>>
>>32967485
And you are, thank you for catching that.
>>
>>32967433
>STRANGER DANGER
She is giving me a lot of bad feelings why is she being so evasive at telling us simple questions i don't like it i suggest we get the hell out of here the first chance we get
>>
>>32967433
>STRANGER DANGER
We have no reason to trust this woman. She calls herself an Empress, and anybody who does that is either crazy or an actual real-life Empress, and I don't think we want either of those things.

The first chance we get to NOPE out of there, I suggest we take it.
>>
>>32967433
>Fine, I at least want to know what kind of 'company' you run and if it involves whips and screaming

Maybe we can usurp control from her later.
>>
>>32967433

I guess I'll bite this clearly baited hook.

This is a tarot thing, isn't it?

Everything has been too weird. I just want to think about something else if what she's saying is even remotely true.

"Okay. If you really are the big boss around here, then I want to see what kind of company you run" I wonder if she'll catch that.

"Wonderful!" She's overjoyed from hearing that. "Oh right, but first, you should probably put something else on if you're going to go out."

Right, I forgot, I'm wearing a hospital gown.

She steps out of the room a moment and comes back with clothes to wear. A nice looking button-up pink shirt with some well-fitting jean shorts. Some long socks and a pair of matching shoes, well-adorned with buttons and laces.

She steps out of the room so I can change. I finish changing and follow her a minute later.

The floor outside the room looks like an unassuming business office. Not like the slave labor sweatshop or creepy dungeon I first imagined it to be. Some people walk back and forth between monitors and computer stations. There's whiteboards with charts and graphs on it, little pictures and stick notes adorn the walls of cubicles and the side of computer cases.

And look, windows, overseeing plenty of buildings and skyscrapers

Beside the doorway stands Izumi. She stops texting someone on her phone and turns to you when you leave.

"Wow! That looks even better on you than I thought it would!" She is really beaming about putting together an otherwise completely ordinary outfit

It's time to cut straight to the point, "So.. what is it your company actually does?"

"We" She looks down at her phone as she receives a text and then back to you. "Are a research company. And we're using our talent to research the single most elusive subject that mankind has ever studied".

"Aliens?" you say sarcastically.

"No, Magic" She smiles

I wish it was Aliens.

Q&A before I go to bed.

But before I do, I have a question for you all: How was it?

Oh my god, THAT'S the Main Character!?

jokes aside, I'm kinda tired of seeing Tarot done badly. I hope you've got something interesting in store for us.
>>
>>32968254
I am intrigued. Empress is a bitch though.
>>
>>32968254
Looking forward to the next thread, you've got me interested.
>>
>>32968232
uh magic?
that would make us some kind of Homunculus or something would also include the possablity they added in something strange depending on why we were made it also means we are quite a investment so they do not want us getting away that just leaves just why they would do it tho
>>
>>32968312
>Oh my god, THAT'S the Main Character!?

Unfortunately, CLAMP has the market cornered on weird clones of Sakura sidestories.

>>32968315
It's funny because I wasn't trying to write her to be that way, she just turned out that way because being evasive was just something she was doing to not scare you away with the gross details. Funny how things work out!

>>32968342
Thank you

>>32968353
Maybe, you can guarantee that your new mother wouldn't want you running away, though.
>>
>>32968378
>Funny how things work out!
She could work on the mothery-ness a bit, it was pretty flat.
>>
>>32968410
>She could work on the mothery-ness a bit, it was pretty flat.

Aw, I'll try to work on that. I was wanting her to be more doting than she came across as.
>>
>>32968424
she came across to me as someone who you need to sleep with one eye open to make sure she dose not disscet us in the middle of the night and a manipulative bitch who wants too use us for something we don't know yet
Also whens the next session?
>>
>>32968254
I think you did alright QM / HotC / Whatever you want us to call you. I think she came off as kind of weird but I think it's understandable given
1) The MC is a young girl with basically no memories and held against her will, and
2) Her decisions are fueled by the paranioa-infused, overthinking-things-too-much hive mind that is /tg/

Good job not having us act too much unlike a young girl and for keeping us roughly on track, I figure the real choices are incoming
>>
>>32968254
Do you have a twitter account or something we can follow for thread notifications?
>>
>>32968533
I'll keep that in mind when writing her in the future.

Next session is hopefully tomorrow.

>>32968570
Thank you, I'll try to keep up the stride. Writing this has been the most fun I've had writing for as long as I can remember.

>>32968580
I just made a twitter account because I hear that's the cool thing to do:

I wouldn't say that Empress is a bitch, but that she went about things with good intentions and terrible execution.

She was trying to empathize by saying she was the same, but it only made her look condescending when she did all the nostalgic smiling.
>>
Are you going to archive the thread HotC?
>>
>>32968686
>but it only made her look condescending when she did all the nostalgic smiling.

Oh, I'll keep that in mind for the future. Looking back on it, she did snidely smile every other sentence.

>>32968687
If someone else wants to do it, I would greatly appreciate it. If not I could do it myself, but I've been told that archiving your own thread is kind of.. self-absorbed?
>>
>>32968755
>If someone else wants to do it, I would greatly appreciate it. If not I could do it myself, but I've been told that archiving your own thread is kind of.. self-absorbed?
Nah, it's fine despite what people say no one actually cares
>>
>>32968828
Archived, thank you everyone for your input!
>>
>>32968963
No problem, good thread hotc
>>
>>32968254
my my my, looks like i'm late, but that sure was a fun read
>>
>>32968424
She came across as a self-absorbed, condescending bitch. I hate her and wish the 'fuck off I'm gonna do my own shit' votes had won.
