You are Anthony Grant and everything is looking up for you being Ambrosis the level 40 cleric and leader of the 1st Panzer Division. You have already negotiated prize money for both you AND Lilac as well as an agreement for the funding of a new land-ship. Things might not be so good right now had they mentioned a size limit on this new design, but they had completely forgotten to mention such an important thing. You and Lilac have been going over designs for the new “fuck-huge” land-ship for the past day. You had discussed a two motor system. One steam, one electric. The electric one only being used when the steam tanks need to be filled, that way the ship doesn't need to stop when the boiler is empty and it also won't run out of electric power after only a day's travel.

After many discussions and a few arguments, three designs remain spared from the discard pile.

The Fort: A heavily armed and armored battle station. It's like a Spanish land-galleon. A long, multi-tier deck with placements for all sorts of fancy theoretical weaponry. Beneath the top deck were battle stations on the port and starboard with sections of the walls that can be opened to launch a quick spell or ranged attack. In the center of the middle deck is the sleeping quarter which is mostly just a sequence of flat, metal surfaces affixed to the walls via chains. No real privacy would be found there as the entire quarter is just one long, crowded room. Finally on the bottom deck would be four boiler engines to the sides and in the center would be the massive array of batteries for the electric motor. This thing would be big, slow, and a force to be reckoned with.
>>
>>32984046
The Transport: A long, short vehicle that puts speed and comfort above all, but not in that order. No open deck with the wind whipping at you constantly; this design is completely enclosed and is broken into two decks. The top deck is more like a mansion with enough rooms to fit twelve people, a small dining hall, and two wash rooms. A lot of the designs, mostly the washroom, would require a summoner or someone who can produce water non-stop. Beneath that is a copy of the other engine room design: four boilers and one massive battery array. The lack of heavy plating and having only two decks greatly decreases the weight in comparison to the Fort, which allows the Transport to achieve much better fuel efficiency and speeds.

The Scout: This one is not a fuck-huge design like you wanted, but a small, two-man tank will probably have its advantages, especially considering it can probably achieve speeds higher than the BRO. It would be a marvel in land transport, but it would also not be useful in any other capacity. On the other hand, it can achieve such a high fuel efficiency that a summoner wouldn't even be needed, only an inventory full of coal, which shouldn't be too hard to find.

You look over the plans time and time again. A decision had to be made before you reached Boulder. You didn't want to have the 49erS wrangle up a bunch of engineers and blacksmiths only to shrug and go, Haven't decided yet! Lol! That's just unprofessional.

[ ] The Fort: Slow and Blow-You-The-Fuck-Up wins the race.
[ ] The Transport: Traveling in style is the only way to travel.
[ ] The Scout: You never know when you need speed on your side.
[ ] Wait! I have an even better idea!: Other.
>>
Question: can we build small escorts later?

MBTs and such?
>>
>>32984144

We're not going fast, but we aren't stopping no matter what gets in our way.

This is jsut what we're putting out there for winning the competition. We can build whatever the hell we want for ourselves later.

“The Fort.” You finally decide. “We can always make scouts and stuff later. Right now we need a way of crossing through the big empty region filled with dragons and who knows what else.”

“There aren't dragons in the Frontier.” Lilac responds, “But you make a good point nonetheless.”

“What makes the Frontier so special anyways?” You ask.

“You know how there are small towns between the major cities?”

“Yeah?” You didn't really know that until just now, but you weren't going to admit that any time soon.

“Well, the Frontier doesn't have any of that. It doesn't even have roads. There is no place safe from monster and there is no real avoiding them there. There are also two raids in the area, but we're not going to be going in them, so I wouldn't worry about it at all.”

“Are things high level there?”

“Yes, but as long as we don't stop moving I'm sure everything will be fine.”

You take a moment to ponder. If you don't stop? This kind of scenario is begging for something to go wrong, but it is the only way to get to Big Apple, right? “And this is the only way to Big Apple?”

“No.” Lilac responds, “It is the fastest route, but not the only route.”

“Okay, well, what are the other routes then? Because that path feels like it would end in pain and torment and dragon attacks.”

“There aren't any dragons in the Frontier.”
>>

>>32984873
“Giant cacti, then. Whatever is there: How do we avoid it?”

“We could go to Pueblo, then Cajun, then Dixie, then Brotherhood and finally Big Apple.”

“And the original path?”

“We go to Great Lakes and then straight to Big Apple. Maybe stopping in Bortherhood if we really must.”

You think over the new information. Danger vs Time: The oldest conundrum.

“We don't have to decide right now.” Lilac informs you, “We can decide when you go to leave Boulder.”

“Yeah. I guess so.”

You look around the BRO's bedroom you had temporarily declared to be the planning room.

[ ] Go get some sleep and wake up in Boulder.
[ ] Talk some more to Lilac.
[ ] Go talk with Judicature.
[ ] Go talk with Takeshi.

I would have gone a mix of transport and fort since while we do like a badass galleon of doom it would be nice to have some of that luxury furniture the transport has.
Also I'm sure Judi might be a wee bit curious as to why we have so many weapons and the maintenance would suck but I think that's presumably metagaming.
Also going full fort rules out cruising at full speed down route 6(6)6 as we should be running into the cannibal people that worship a raid boss if we go off course a little.

You get to your feet, brushing rogue bits of paper off of you. “I'm going to go see what Judi's up to.”

“Okay.” Lilac responds, “I call dibs on the bed tonight.”

“You can't just call dibs on the bed! You have to earn it!”

She flops onto the bed and pretends to snore.

“Stop that.” You say.

“I can't hear you, I'm already asleep.” Lilac responds.

You stare down the back of her head for a while before you throw your hands up in frustration and leave.

As you pass through the deck you see Trove and Takeshi talking amongst themselves.

“It is against the samurai code to steal.” Takeshi says.

“Yarr.” Trove points out, “Ye don't need to steal to be a pirate!”

“Yes. I see. So, much like the path of the samurai, the way of the pirate is something that is apart of your heart and spirit.”

Trove changes gears to one of disappointment, “Yarr. Ye weren't supposed to believe that, Takeshi! I was lyin'!”

“I see now that I still have much to learn. Truly you are a master of lies.”

“Ya- No.” Trove shakes his head, not even giving Takeshi the full Yarr.

You reach the door to the bridge and open it up. Walking inside you see Judicature staring off into the distant horizon.

“Hey.” You say, “When we get to Boulder we're going to take a couple days to make THE MOST BAD ASS BATTLE LAND-SHIP EVER!”

She takes a while to respond. “Why are we making a battleship?”

“Dragons.” You respond, “Gotta make sure we're safe during a dragon attack.”

“Yeah.” She slowly responds, “That makes sense.”

You wrap an arm around her neck and strike a heroic pose. “Imagine! A whole horde of dragons attack us, but we turtle up and blast them all back with cannons! Magic cannons! Magic cannons that shoot laser beams!”
>>
>>32986109
“A-ah. O-okay.”

The tank begins to rumble. You break your pose and grasp of Judi. “The hell is going on!?”

“Sorry!” The duelist shouts as she moves the switches, “We accidentally went a little off road.”

“Oh.” You say, “What was I sayi-?”

“I-I have something to s-say.” She suddenly cuts into your statement before going silent.

After a couple moments of waiting you ask, “And you want to say...?”

“That... you... umm...” She goes silent again.

“That I'm awesome? Because I can't argue with tha-”

“No!” She blurts out, “That... you... … need to take over the controls!” She leaps from the chair and goes sprinting out of the room.

You are left there baffled and confused until the ship rumbling takes you out of your thoughts. You jump into the seat and take control of the BRO, and in that seat you remain till you and your crew reach Boulder.

A crowd awaits your vehicle, cheering for you and your amazing machine. The man who put on this entire event, LastDerogation, stands upon a stage, clapping. You stop the Big Red One and saunter onto the deck. The crowd goes crazy.

“Our winners! The FIIIIIIIRST PANZEEEEEEER DIVISIOOOOOOOON~!” Deregation shouts.

“Speech!” Someone in the crowd shouts. “Speech!” Soon they are all chanting it. “SPEECH SPEECH SPEECH SPEECH!”

Now is your chance to show everyone your brilliant insight. You'll make an amazing, but first, you need to name the speech you're about to give. That's simply how these things work.

You now know exactly what your speech is going to be about. Now you just have to think of a bunch of cool, inspiring things to say.

“A society is not a real society unless it is connected!” You begin, “We may fly under one flag, or be governed by a single body, but without the connectivity! Without the ability know our neighbors, to know our leaders, to know a friend from far away, we cannot call ourselves one! This land ship! This is one step forward! One step in the direction of making our world smaller! A step to bring us closer together! If any problems we may have become isolated! If any grievances or pain strikes and we do not have the power to proclaim it! To make it real in the minds of others! Then that isolation and powerlessness will drive a wedge! A wedge that will tear our people apart! Soon they will wonder why even be apart of a society which will refuse to help! But they will not realize that it is not that we don't care, but that we don't know! These land-ships are more than just vehicles! They are purveyors of cargo! Cargo like letters! Letters which speak of grievances and pain! Letter which speak of soon coming support and love from far away! These vehicles will make our world small again! Make us whole again! This is America! And we are one nation under none! WE are the city upon the hill and all other nations will soon know the truth that even if we are not the smartest or the fittest or the most artistic, we are THE GOD DAMN BEST COUNTRY IN THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD!”

The Adventurers are eating up the nonsense you just pulled right from your ass, cheering, whistling, and yelling praise. The Landers, on the other hand, seem very confused and a little bit concerned.

“AMERICA!” You conclude, “FUCK YEAH!”

You dust off your armor and swagger off to the inn to get some much needed sleep. You're a god damn champion.
>>
We should find an Animal Trainer to find and train a monstrous raid boss.
>>
>>32987430
Your sleep is deep and tranquil. You spend a good day and night dreaming of being president of Super America, leading your land-ships into battle against hordes of monster, the Super American flag flapping behind you.

You wake up slowly to the sunlight piercing the window in your room. You let out a satisfied sigh and stare up at the ceiling, patting your belly. You needed something to fill you up.

You saunter down stairs to the inn's bar. “A loaf of bread and a boozestrocity.” You order, “Actually, make that a half boozestrocity. I have work today.”

The bartender does as you command. Half a cup of boozestrocity, which was really just random amount of different alcohols mixed together, and a loaf of bread to fill you up.

Not completely drunk, you meander over to Lilac's shop, banging on the door. “Liiiiiilaaaaac!” You shout, “Open the dooooooor!” After a couple of minutes you start singing, “Open. The. D-d-d-d-doooor! Door door doooooor! D-d-d-d-dooor! Open. The. Dooooor!”

Finally the dwarf woman opens the door and you stumble inside.

She takes one look at you. “You're drunk.”

“Not completely!” You retort joyously.

She breathes in and then lets out a sigh. “I'll go get you some tea to sober you up.”

“But I build better while drunk!”

She raises an eyebrow.

“Well, I CODE better while drunk! It's the same thing, really!”

She thrusts some tea into your hands. “Drink this.”

You drink the water-tea. “Yup. Still tastes like water.”

“So...” Lilac suddenly changes the topic, “What do you think about Judi?”

“That's a pretty strange question to be asking this early.” You respond.

“Oh, is it?” She replies. In her eyes you could see she was calculating something, you just weren't sure what it was.

“Yeah, we should be discussing the changes I made to the blueprints.” You throw a wrench into her thought process.

“W-what!?”

Bingo. You nod. “Yeah, I changed the levers away from those smooth transition ones back to the gear shift ones. It's classic, like Coke Classic. People will like it better.”

“What!? No! That's stupid! Why would you want your treads to only move at specific speeds and not the speeds in between those speeds!? I mean, you only had one reverse setting! You have no way to rotate at speeds other than first gear! What if we need to turn around as quickly as possible!”

“Yeah, but the gear shift system was the one I used. It feels like that one is more familiar to me. I don't want to learn a whole new system.”

“What system!? You're just pushing a lever to go forward and pulling it to go backwards! Even a four year old could- Okay, maybe not a four year old, but a ten year old could understand it easily!”

You get to your feet and head for the door. “Yeah, I'm not so sure about that. I guess I'm just stuck in my ways, too old to change.”

“How are you too old to change!? You haven't even seen Clue! You can't be that old!”

“How do you know I haven't seen Clue?” You open the door and walk out. The argument spills out into the streets.

“Judi told m- That doesn't matter! You are going to explain to me why you would EVER use and inferior steering system!”

“It's Coke Classic. It's classier and everyone loves it!”

“I'M TOO YOUNG TO KNOW ABOUT COKE CLASSIC! LIKE HELL YOU KNOW ABOUT IT!”

“Yeah...” You admit, “I only know about it because of a documentary I watched back when the History Channel was still good.”
>>
>>32989086
“Oh God! I think I saw that documentary!”

“Wasn't the History Channel amazing back in the day?”

“It really was.” Lilac nostalgias, “Did you watch Modern Marvels?”

“Modern Marvels was so good.” You lament, “I have no idea why the replaced it with alien hunters and shit like that.”

Lilac suddenly snaps back to being angry. “DON'T CHANGE THE SUBJECT! PUT THAT CONTROL SYSTEM BACK TO THE WAY IT WAS!”

“Okay, okay!” You put your hands up in defeat, “You win! I'll put it back to the way it was.”

“God damn right you will.” She folds her short arms. “I worked hard on that. You can't just change something without asking.”

“You're right.” You choke down a laugh. “I promise I'll never do something like that again.”

After a couple of seconds of silence the two of you begin walking towards Tabula's workshop.

Lilac scrunches her face up in thought. “What were we talking about before?”

“Modern Marvels.”

“God! It was such a good show! Did you see the one about cheese!?”

“So good.” You respond, “What about the one on canned foods?”

“Oh! Oh! The one on candy!”

“The one on the potato.”

She laughs. “There was one about potatoes!?”

“There was one about everything. Maybe they stopped making them because there was nothing left to talk about.”

Lilac puts on her thinking face again. “No, I don't think so. There could always be something else to talk about.”
>>
>>32989128
The two of you stand in front of the workshop with a large hole in it. “Do you want me to do the talking?” You ask.

“Oh, NOW you're asking me.” She says, half joking.

You look down to her. “Really?”

“Only a little.”

You look back to the workshop and spot the elven blacksmith. “Tabula!” You yell out.

He raises a hand in greetings.

You and the sorceress walk into the shade of the workshop. Reaching into your inventory, you pull out the blueprints to the Fort design and hand them off to Tabula.

“Do you like it?” You ask, “I call it...”

What impact would avoiding the question have? I for one, though, would love for this to develop organically rather than a fate determining multiple choice question. However, I know littleFather is not like that. Even if we answered that, if will just be a piece in the organic development. Right? TinySheperd? Right?

“I call it the Manifest Destiny.” You state proudly, “Just as we spread Democracy from east to west in the old days, now we spread it from west to east. Liberating everyone from the tyranny of all the kingdoms and monarchies!”

“Do you really believe that?” Tabula asks.

“Only the parts that make me feel cool!” You respond.

Tabula looks at you for only a moment before turning back to the blueprint. “Wait. How big is this thing?”

Lilac answers for you. “It has been described as 'fuck-huge.'”

You nod and mouth the words, Fuck-huge.

He looks back to the blueprints, then back to you. “And, if you were to express that in numbers, that would be...?”

You think for a moment and then point to the dwarf. “Lilac, tell the man the numbers.”

She looks a bit disgruntled for a moment, but after a small sigh she gets to work going over the designs with the elf.

“Would this thing even work?” He asks when she is done.

“It would in a frictionless vacuum.” Replies the sorceress.

“Doesn't everything...”

“Not really. Planes do a terrible job at being in a vacuum.”

“You got me there.” He responds, putting the blueprint into his inventory. “Okay, we'll need to use the guild's storage and workshop. I don't even have half of the materials on me.”

“Lead the way.” You say.

Hopefully we can build a landship that can handle lot's of cargo as well as provide us a decent place to live.

Manifest Destiny will be a major factor in all upcoming battles, but just imagine the feuds we'll get into over living space. Gotta work that out soon.

He leads you down alleys and streets, heading towards the giant boulder in the center of town.

“So, you're going to give us back that blueprint, right?” You ask Tabula.

“Hm? Oh. Yes. I just need to hold onto it while we're building is all.”

The three of you reach the boulder and in the massive stone is a small mine entrance carved out, leading to the inside of it. Down, down, down you three travel into the bowls of the earth, constantly stepping down stone stairs until you finally reach a large, well lit area. Inside the massive cavity are boxes, chests, and crates as far as the eye can see.

“Welcome to the guild hall.” Tabula remarks. “The American guild hall I should say. We also have a base in Western Europe.”

There were just so many people moving, harvesting, or processing materials it almost felt like the majority of the city's population was down here in the guild hall rather than up top.

Tabula adjusts his glasses. “Ready to start building?”

You and Lilac both offer enthusiastic nods.

None of the options would have locked you in, it was more of a "How should I have Ambrosis react to this situation?" I didn't want him to be completely oblivious to something twice unless the audience wanted it. Now it kinda seems that Ambrosis more or less doesn't really know how to feel about things. Or he's more interested in tanks. I was also afraid that people might shake their fists if I didn't spell out the implications of each statement, hence why it seemed like there were 4 friend-zone options. I just didn't think it felt right for him to just jump from liking Lilac to liking Judi, so I didn't offer a "We're interested in Judi now" option, although if people went with an Other, I would have rolled with it. Again, though, it wouldn't have been a "NO, YOU CAN ONLY LOVE LILAC/JUDI NOW!" Just a "How does he feel about this currently?"

The story of Vertigo hiding a corpse will follow soon-ish.

The <Swich Licour> had used their new fortune to expand their guild hall, especially their dining room. There used to be an overcrowded buffet table holding the food of the forty guild members in this room, but now there was a long, white, marble table which comfortably fit every single member.

King sat at the head of the table. To her right was Confidence, her best friend, and to her left was Vertigo. King had commented to her monk that this setup was “thematically appropriate.”

The dining hall is filled with the clatter of silverware on plates and the murmurs of everyone chatting and shouting across the table. The conversation of the night turns into a question of what people missed about the real world. Everyone repeats the same things over and over again. I miss my family. I miss my house. I miss my dog, or my cat. Zachery understood their pain, but he did not have anything to miss. His father was estranged, he hated his mother, the only family member he cares about is stuck in the game with him, and his lover was no longer across the country; as far as Vertigo was concerned, everything is amazing.

“What about you, Vertigo?” Confidence asks.

“Uhh...” The monk panicks. “The internet.”

“We've been here for more than a week and the only thing you miss is...” She leans forward, “The internet.”

“Well,” King interjects, “We all miss our families, that goes without saying, so to say it is to be redundant, therefore the only way to not be redundant is to say the only thing you miss that is not your family, thus the answer of the internet.”

No one at the table seems to buy that argument, but none of them say anything.
>>
>>32991909
“Furthermore!” King continues, “Not having the internet is an extreme inconvenience. If you want to look something up you simply can't, unless it has to do with the lore of this world, and even if it does you'd need to find it in the library, which takes an eternity in comparison to just googling things.”

From there the conversation changed into one about all the things people had forgotten. The lyrics to songs, the tenth digit of pi, the atomic weight of uranium, and the exact definition of catharsis were all things discussed. The table had become its own mini-Wikipedia, each person trying to fill in the gaps of the others.

Vertigo did not take part in the conversation. He was too busy scowling at his half eaten steak. Inside his head he smouldered. Why should they care what he does or does not miss!? Why the hell should they care that he didn't have anything in the real world!? It's everyone's secret dream to be whisked off to some kind of magical world anyways! Right? Or was Vertigo the odd one out? What if he was holding onto an ideal everyone else had grown out of? What if he just proved to them his childish nature? Are they laughing at him behind his back? Have they always been laughing at him!?

Kings hand on his leg knocked him out of his thoughts. “You okay?” She asks.

The monk regained his composure before looking at his guild leader. “Yeah.” He responds, “Just thinking about some stuff.”

She smiled, but Vertigo could tell something was off. “Why don't we go to bed?”

Zachery's mouth contorts and twitches, trying to start sentences he cannot speak. “Okay.” Is all he can muster.

She hooks her hand around his and the two stand up. “Night, everyone!”

“Does anyone remember Avogadro's number!?” Is the only thing that has the table's attention.
>>
King leads Vertigo through the room's archway and into the main hall. Zachery takes one step up the stairs, but he is snapped back by the guardian's hand. She turns him to face her and then puts her right hand on his shoulder blade. She takes a step forward with her left leg and the two begin to waltz.

“Any reason you've decided to have us waltz?” Vertigo asks.

“Because that wouldn't be thematically appropriate!” She responds. She lifts her left arm and gives her partner a slight push into a natural spin turn.

Vertigo pivots on her hand before the two are joined again in the ballroom embrace. When the two are face to face again, the monk wears a very disgruntled face. “Mind running that one by me again?” She always went on about things that were thematically appropriate, but to Vertigo it felt like she was making things up as she went along.

“Going up stairs or ascending things implies you are... well... ascending in some way; spiritually, intellectually, or some other way.”

“And I can't becau-”

“Because there is something bothering you and you're not telling me.” She quickly points out, “Thematically, a descent would be more appropriate.”

The monk lets out a sigh. “I was just... I was thinking about some stupid things.”

“That is not telling me what is wrong.”

“It's stupid.”

“Tell me anyway.”

He stops the dance. “It's just a stupid thought I had! Just drop it!”

She gives him a light peck. “If it's so stupid, just tell me and we'll laugh about it.”

Zachery goes from angry to just frustrated. “I just... It feel like everyone's making fun of me!”

“You're right.” She gives a quick chuckle. “That was stupid.”

He throws his hands into the air. “I just said that!”

She gives him another kiss. “Just relax. No one is making fun of anyone behind anyone's back.”

“Well, what about Confidence?” He adds, “She does that shit all the time!”

“Oh, she's just a bitch.”

He turns to look down on the torch-lit hall from the mezzanine. He makes his way down the stairs. He hears the clatter of pots and pans and the murmur of voices. Having now idea what it could possibly be, Vertigo investigates. Going into the dining hall and from there into the kitchen, the monk spots the three Landers he hired a few days ago. Alden the baker, Galilee the hobo chef, and Outis the inn chef, these were the three he had found, and such a loyal bunch they were. Zachery almost regrets threatening them. Almost being the key word, as he knew better then to trust anyone he was in a business venture with.

“What's everyone up to?” The monk announces.

They stop whatever meal they were cooking and look to him, bowing in respect. Outis speaks up, “We were just getting breakfast ready, Lord Vertigo, just as SheepShip instructed.”

Zachery had no idea why Outis started calling him a lord in the first place, or why he was the only one referred to as lord, but the monk had no want for such a title to end.

“Good, good.” Vertigo says, “Anyone know how much we sold yesterday?”

Galilee held up her fingers, as if to count them. “More than ten.”

Outis interjects, “If my count was not off, Lord Vertigo, we had made three-hundred pies, six-hundred burgers, four-hundred fifty pizzas, one-hundred fifty ham sandwiches, and two-hundred forty bowls of soup; all of which totals to two-hundred two point eight K of profit, assuming all of it had been sold.”

“You guys did that in a day!?” Zachery exclaims.

“Things go by quicker when you don't think about it.” Alden responds.

Vertigo was beyond impressed. He doubts he could make half of that in twice the time with twice the staff size. “Wow. I... Fuckin' wow! Keep up the good work guys!” He turns and sees a sight so peculiar he has to look twice to make sure what he is seeing is real.

Before the monk stands a man in his twenties with a small, scraggly beard in an old, beaten up coat.

Zachery simply stares at the man for quite a while. If he was a new hire, Vertigo would know about it. If he was one of the maid or butler NPCs they wouldn't be in this room. If no one invited him inside he wouldn't have even been able to get it, yet here he was; a completely random man just standing in the middle of the kitchen. So much for the monopoly.

“You're here to steal the secret of cooking, aren't you?” Vertio inquires.

He puts on a broad smile and makes an overly exaggerated shrug. “I have no idea what you're talking about!”

“So much for the secret not getting out.”

A silver flash rushes by Vertigo's eye. Before he even knows what is going on Outis was already on top of the man, stabbing him over and over again with a carving knife.

The monk grabs hold of Outis and flings him across the room, smashing him into a rack of clamoring pots and pans. Zachery looks down at the newcomer only to see a pool of blood forming and his HP at 0.

The monk dives across the room for Outis. He grabs the smarmy bastard by the colar. “WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU JUST DO!?”

“Please, my lord!”

Zachery lifts his weapon, the Claws of Dark Salvation, and point the many tips towards Outis' face. “You MURDERED A MAN!” He shouts, “I KNOW JUST AS WELL AS YOU DO THAT YOU FUCKS DON'T RESPAWN!”

“But my lord! Now that he's dead you don't have to kill anyone!” Outis shouts.

“You're gonna have to explain that one cause right now, I WANT TO MAKE FACE-PASTE OUT OF YOU!”

“The secret was kept, my lord! You said you'd only kill our families if anyone found out! But this way no one will find out!”

“No one will find out?” Vertigo repeated. It was self defense. He actually thought the monk was going to kill him. He actually thought it was him or the weird guy. This happened because of Vertigo. If only he had not threatened them. If only he had just taken the moment to not care about the money. It was his greed; that is what Vertigo concluded. His own greed killed this man.

KING!

If King finds out- If anyone finds out! Killing a player gets you only one hanging, but killing an NPC? That's hanging for life. If the Morning Star find out, he's dead. Dead forever! A constant cycle of torture and death!

His hands began to shake. What should he do!?

“My lord, I believe we need to get rid of the body before anyone wakes up.” Outis says.

“N- no.” The monk responds, “This is my responsibility. Just... Just get me something to wrap him up in.”

The three chefs went about the kitchen gathering cloth and bags while Vertigo tried his best to clean up all the blood. His hands were shaking. He couldn't stop shivering. Every time he tried to grab himself to stop himself he got blood on his golden gi.

“I can take care of that for you, my lord.” Outis says, “You do not need to be alone in this endeavor.”

Vetigo nods. “Yes. Yes, of course. You're right. You clean up, I'll... I'll put this somewhere.”

The bag is light compared to the strength of his Adventurer strength, but the hands cannot find a good grip.

One step out of the door, down the stairs, into the streets, down the road, and into the Central Gardens.

The snow piles on thick here, suffocating the grass and obscuring anything below chest height. No one came here anymore; it was too much of a hassle to bother.

Vertigo drops the bag and pushes piles of snow away till he can find actual dirt.

He lifts up a fist.

“Earth Shake, Kingdom Breaker.” His fist slams into the ground like a piston, boring through dirt and stone in a single strike, exploding from the sheer force, leaving a giant crater.

The snow slowly wafts down from the sky, covering the bottom of the hole in white.

Vertigo stares at the bag as it too is slowly covered. This was once a man. A man with thoughts and dreams and aspirations. Now there is meat in a sack. An end of consciousness. An end of being. Absolute death. Vertigo could not help but imagine non-existence. It chilled him to the core. This torment of never-thought. That is what he had done to this man. Murder by proxy.

“I'm sorry.” Is all he could think to say to the meat before he carefully placed it into the hole.

He pushed snow on top the the sack till it blended in with the surroundings.

He looked up. The sun was rising.

He made a weary walk back to the guild hall. He knew he would be caught. It was only fair. It was only right. He deserved it for his greed.

No one caught him.

He made it all the way back to his room and not a single person had seen him.

His eyes began to water.

He looked down at his once golden set of raid armor.

It was tarnished.

The monk slumped into the corner of his room.

Everything felt so cold.

He needs someone. He needs anyone. He needs Ki- No. No, she would denounce him. He had broken the one order she gave him.

His brother.

His brother would listen.

Vertigo called.

“And you just accept that!?”

“No, but I can't very well stop her either.”

Vertigo does not like that argument, but he has no intention of continuing the conversation.

“Do you feel better?” KingAzebo asks.

“Yeah, I guess so.”

“You don't sound very convincing.”

“I just... I just want to go to bed. That's all.”

“Okay.” She says, taking him by the hand and leading him up the steps, “But just understand, if this was a book, you'd be stuck down there.”

“Well, I'll be sure to tell God he's a shit writer.”

“Maybe he's just trying to be avant garde, making a point that nothing means anything.”

“So he's a super shit writer.”

She pushes the door open to her room. “Well, everyone does that at one point.”

“Only the pretentious 'Look at me, I'm so smart!' types do that.”

She looks him in the eyes, but says nothing.

“You did that at one point, didn't you?”

She nods.

“I'm going to shut up now.”

“No, please, keep going on about how pretentious I am.”

“I'm sorry.” Is all he offers.

“Damn straight you are.” She responds before pushing him onto the bed. “I'm pedantic! There's a difference!”

Zachery rises early the next morning. The sun is not risen and the room is still dark, but there he is, wide awake, and not sure what to do. He lays in the bed for what feels like hours, trying his best to go back to sleep, but he simply cannot.

He slowly and surely wiggles free of King's embrace. He felt around the marble tiles till he found his clothing. After he puts his Failed-God set on, he tiptoes to the door, opening it as slowly as possible to make sure he did not wake his lover. Every time the door squeaked he would tense up and stay still for an amount of time he could not consciously keep track of. Over what felt like an hour, he squeezed through the small opening he made and quietly closed the door behind him.
