/tg/ - Traditional Games

For 2000 years the Great War has raged. Hundreds of planets are visited by the horror of species turned upon itself, a war of ideology that will brook no compromise. The peace seeking Autobots and the domineering Decepticons have fought too hard and too long to bow to the other.

Too long and to hard has their home planet Cybertron bore the weight of this fight.

The world has been torn apart like the culture that once thrived upon it. No new sparks drift up from the Well of Allsparks and Vector Sigma has gone dormant. Dark energon and insecticon drones infest what were once the most populated areas, creating vast cities of haunted ruins. The only signs of life are those that herald death.

The Autobots recognize the peril in remaining and now look to migrate en masse and save the species.

The Decepticons believe that with effort and ingenuity the planet can be saved, though they will need the Autobots resources to do so.

The rest, those unwilling to fight for the causes that has put their world in this predicament, look to survive the storm with their sparks untainted by millenia of violence and destruction.

In these last days of the war on Cybertron the Autobots have constructed a massive ship called The Ark2. Large enough to house thousands of his kind, Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots has made his last push to drive te Decepticons away long enough for liftoff. With the Metrotitan Metroplex on the front lines and the old war hero Kup bringing reinforcements things look positive for the fleeing Cybertronians.

This has Megatron, leader of the Decepticons, in a fury like no other. Personally leading the Decepticon attack with his Combaticon combiners and Aerial Seekers he aims to tear down the Autobots before they escape while Shockwave, under Megatrons orders, begins a systematic destruction of all remaining rebellious elements.

How rolling works- It is a roll under system where you have to roll under the Attribute being used. Rolls can use different attributes for similar action ie Melee can use either strength, agility or skill and Defense can use either agility, skill or endurance. When rolling for an action you have no skills for you use one dice. Every skill point added to that action adds a single dice.Skills can have up to five points in them. Rolls use the highest dice rolled.

You have 1 point in Deduction.

Gain 9 skill points to spend to spend.(You can spend them on anything really, will leave voting open for 5 minutes, then final voting will occur.)

All of my yes.

Anyway, from that description it sounds like we need combat skills? Like melee and Defense would let us apply our stats better?

If so, I'll say something like

Melee+4
Defense+3

I'd rather not get blown up in our first fight.

Yes we will. Skills have a base cost of 10exp, with an additional 5exp per rank. Attributes cost point for point but require someone with the necessary Science or Medical skills to upgrade you.

Abilities are rarer. They cost 20exp for a common ability, 40exp for an uncommon ability
and 50exp for a rare ability. They also require someone with the skills to upgrade you and the resources to make the upgrades.

Yes. I should have mentioned that Rank can`t be bought with exp (though you COULD buy loyalty) and will raise through gameplay. We are essentially a grunt in whatever faction we join, someone who is either new to the faction or we were sidelined to something that wasn`t all that important.

Now all that settled there is one question left who did we join:

The Autobots- Staunch defenders of peace and freedom, you are a grunt who has joined the war hero Kup on his way to support the launch of the Arkk2. Currently en route on the Tri-Torus Loop

The Decepticons- Seekers of glory and strength, you and your fellow grunts are under the command of Razorclaw and his elite Predacon unit on your way to intercept Autobot reinforcements. Currently aboard Astrotrain over Protihex

NAIL- a member of the non aligned indigenous lifeforms, you and the allies you have made are currently hiding in Uraya, the only remaining neutral city on Cybertron. Driven indoors by acid rain, you have heard explosions in the distance...

Getting hammered with the NAILs.

------------------------

Uraya was never the happiest place in the world. Somewhere between civilization and rust sea someone had decided to erect the city along the Tri-Torus Loop, a long barnacle of barely livible scrapmade habitations. Dotted with cheap workshops and lowquality fuel stations, it was barely a step above the shanties of the Neutral Territories which bled seemlessly into its borders.

The acrid smell of the rain that had been falling for the past day tells you that Cybertron felt as poorly about this place as you did.

"Copper would you close that door?"

A short, round robot with a faded red face peers back over his shoulder. His face is peeking out from under a large plastic tarp he had wrapped around himself to keep the acid rain out and you could see the the wide brim of his helmet holding the tarp out to the sides, past his shoulders but not nearly past his midsection.

"Shut yer exaust port Gyro, a little fumigatin's good for ye. Clear the scrapplets outa yer casin'"

"I'm more worried about the circuits in the relic of a head you have." says a lithe bot reclining on some crates across from you. Tall, long limbs, a brown body color with aqua highlights, Gyro lies on her side, one arm propping up her head and looking bored.

This sets the shorter bot off "OOH worried are ya? Wonderin' if old Copper gone ta rust eh?Well you pull the sealent out o' those ah-di-o receptors and listen carefully, those are explosions I'm tellin' ya." turning back out the door he adds on a more somber note. "Somethin's up."

>Tell them to quite bickering, it's caustic enough in here.

>Tell Copper to come back inside, you'll teleport a few rooms over and take a look around the other side.

``You should listen to your elders Gyro.`` you say. You stiffly stand up from the crate you had been using as a chair. Slightly almost as tall as Gyro but far more robust, with the mass of dark red tentacles curled up on your back and rows of razor sharp teeth along your shoulders. Midnight blue and black, you cut an imposing figure.

``Alright you to play nice, I`m gonna hop over next door and see what the neighbors have heard.``

At this Gyro shrugs slightly and closes her eyes while Copper gives you a curt nod. You walk over to the far wall and -zzap- are standing in a ramshackle room with windows blown out. The damage is old and not worth noticing so you jog around the puddle of acid on the floor and another -zzap- sends you across the narrow street into a neighboring building.

Though it had been occupied a few days ago it was barren now, empty but for a rusted table and a door flapping in the wind. You feel a slight and brief vibration.

-You shouldn`t move to far away, time to regroup.
- Push on, there has to be others close by and you can see further from the taller building next door.

You decide to push on.

Teleporting through the wall of the two buildings brings you to a dark room. The door is bolted shut and their are stairs off to the side. The only light source a blinking light on a small computer console and the optics of its owner.

You growl in disgust.

Seated on the floor against the wall is an emaciated figure. You don't need to see the details, you dealt with enough simultronic addict to knows how this one probably looked, especially with that scraprigged piece of junk he was using.

Exhaling slowly you crouch down in front of the burnout and reach out with one hand. As soon as you pull the connecter from the console the skeletal bot lurches forward only to be shoved roughly back against the wall.

He doesn't even have enough strength to groan, his eyes going dark from the impact. You pry off the consoles outer casing and begin to eat its inner workings. You turn and leave up the stairs, leaving the junky sitting against the wall, head lolling from one side to the other.

Forgot your trip there.
>>
>>33070614
Walking up the stairs you enter a large room with vast windows on each side, three of which are still intact and look out over the cityscape. Overhead you see the gentle curve of the Tri-Torus Loop, the continent spanning super highway. Thought the tops of its spires are hidden behind noxious brown-yellow clouds its supports and base roadway are no less impressive. Off to the distance, though you can't see them, you know the ruins of the Altihex starports squat as an ugly reminder of the thing lost in this war.

You miss Altihex. The one vacation you had ever taken had been to one of its fine oil spas. It had been like being in the Light of Primus.

Turning slowly you come out of your reverie with a shock. A great inferno rages to the south, whole city blocks engulfed in thick yellow smoke that was glowing a bright orange from below.

Not him, but the decepticons view on power being the most important thing is both short sighted and unstable. Lacking a powerful opponent, they would've destroyed themselves long ago.

Cybertron is a testament to why the autobot's view on freedom at any cost is just as foolishly muleheaded as the decepticons.

With a sigh you look out at the burning city, then back down to the junky.
"Come on bud." you say and heft him up into your arms. If you had slung him over your should he would have shredded himself so you cradle the emaciated body to your chest.

Hurrying along down the stairs you -zzap- back to the wrecked room then move to the corner next to the one you first ported to and -zzap- back into your room.

Standing on top of some crates you look down at your friends, while they look at you with wary relief.

Copper is still at the door but he has his rifle held at ready. Gyro stands slightly to the doors' side, her energy buckler on her left fist and a pistol in her right hand.

"Hey chief." Gyro greets you.

"Whats going on?" you ask.

"Some bitties ran by a sqwauking an' a hollerin'. Thought they was talkin' bout you. Whats with th'blown fuse? Run into whatevers making a ruckus out there?" Copper replies.

"No, he's just along for the ride. Saw some explosions, whole city's burning down."

"Figures." Copper says.

"Gyro looks at him 'Why?"

"Rains meant t'keep us in. Easy targets, like shootin' caged Turbofox. Then they hit th'place bit by bit an' stomp whatever crawls out."

She huffs "Right, how do you know the acid isn't just setting of energon caches?"

"I think he's right," you interject "Someone was flying around out there."

While Gyro doesn't seem completely convinced
she nods in acceptance. "So what do we do then?"

Copper jiggles the door." We should take this 'ere door as a makeshift umbrella." he points to the open door across the street "Then head through there. Th'others were headin' to th'back ally market, place is most;y roofed over. Then we head which ever way the fire ain't."

Copper nods and proceeds to tear the door off its hinges while Gyro makes a sour face.

"You sure they won't be flooded from all this rain?"

"Shouldn't be. They were designed to run separately but with access hatches along the tunnel."

With a grunt Copper takes the door and lifts it over his head then nods to Gyro. The taller bot crouches down and follows Copper across, the wider bot protected by his tarp. He returns after she's through and ushers you to come.

As you cross, the pitter patter of rain on the door and the stench of acid fumes filling your nostrils, you look right then left. You see several dark shapes under a balcony ledge.

The first shot goes wide, flashing between you and Copper and over the junky's limp body.

You scowl at the Decepticons and transform! Passing the junky back and lunging your chest plate rises, revealing a pointed cone like face while your arms fold foreword, your shoulders coming together to form the gnashing lower jaw to the predatory head. Teeth, sharp and glinting emerge from the upper jaw. As your arms folded the cluster of coiled tentacles on your back fold out like a fan, circling your midsection in two rows, one behind the other. Along your sides your legs fold upward and the shins flatten and extend to create pectoral fins, the feet merging behind you to form a point. To finish it off a dorsal fin emerges from your back with a glinting edge.

You roar and the Decepticons seem visibly shaken for a moment.

The junky snoozes behind you, wrapped in a single tentacle.

Surging forward, you bite hard on to the gunbot crunching through his casing and deep into his internals, but not deep enough. It seems your teeth are lodged.

Further in front of you the Decepticon who was turning towards Gyro stopped to watch his comrade die and received two pistol shots to his side, a third going wide. He goes down with a shout.

The last one charges to strike you with his sword.

I like that we're a pretty nice guy overall, just trying to get along in this crapsack world, doing our job looking after people and detectin' things. But MAN, Victor Sigma had a seriously bad trip the day he designed us. Every time someone makes a suggestion we become more of a walking slaughter house.

Maybe the reason we're neutral is that we think the Decepticons are assholes, but the Autobots never asked us to join because they just presumed we'd go Decepticon. What with the whole RIPANDTEAR thing we do in battle, and looking like something spawned by Cybertronian-Cthulhu.

Grinding the metal in your mouth you sweep out a tentacle and wrap it around his legs. Wrenching him into the air and turning the Con upside down you grab his arms and twist, causing his sword to clatter harmlessly to the floor.

Bringing him close to your face you finish sheering through his comrade and gulp down his top half.

The Decepticon shudders for a moment, then stutters and gulps. "I-I am Coldroll. am member of the Decepticons!" he shouts the last bit for effect but goes quiet as you just stare at him with shiny black eyes. "W-w-w--w-we, we were just ordered t-to clear out this city."

"Whose command?" you ask, using your free tentacles to grasp the beams crossing the roof, rising higher and looming over him.

"SHOCKWAVE!" his voice squeaks out.

"How many?" you growl, your maw opening to nearly engulf his face.

"AAHH"

You snap your teeth, barely a centimeter from his face.

"How many innocents did you murder?!"

He screams. And keeps screaming. Then a second voice joins in. Looking behind you it appears the junky has woken to a rather frightening scene.

Below you a fist punches softly into one of your support tentacles. You look down and see that Gyro has finished her opponent. She points towards the door and that's when you notice the gunfire. Copper stands in the doorway firing out from under his tarp. A steady one two of shots sailing out into the gloom.

"We have to move." Gyro says to to you.

With a snarl you bring the Con foreword and bite his head off, tossing the rest across the room. Transforming, you drop the burnout and knock him back unconscious.

"Copper were are moving NOW!" you yell then heft the limp junky back up.

"Well it's about time! You done stuffin' yer furnace?"

"Lets go!" you turn and run to Gyro who has moved through the door on the far side of the room, buckler and pistol held ready.

Just gonna post it now, but I got something for when someone tries to recruit us. We'll just blow up in their face, so..."Sure, just justify it to me."
"What?"
"The war. Justify it to me."
...
"2000 years. TWO FUCKING THOUSAND YEARS! We were gods, once. Great beings capable of stepping in one direction and appearing a mile in the other on a whim. Powerful beings capable of shaping our planet to match our whims. Now look at us! Two thousand years of war, and this is all that;s left! Uraya, hat fucking cesspit, was the last of true cybertronian culture! It wasn't the pretty part, but it was all that was left of the great civilization that build everything around us! Two thousand years of killing art, mangling science, slaughtering any too weak to fight, maiming friends and betraying lovers! Two thousand years of fucking WAR all for the sake of a twisted, dying hunk of metal that no longer wants to be saved!! JUSTIFY IT TO ME!!!!"
