Actual Quest here:

After a few days of rest and rehabilitation, you are finally fully healed and you are sent on your way. Outside the barracks you see that many of the scouts are heading towards the practice range, some seem very worried while others seem cheerful. You remember some of the scouts talking about proving their worth again to the sergeants of the company, something about squads being given out today. You look around some more and you see a sergeant walking up towards you.

"Well then, Nameless, nice to see that you're doing nice and fine after your spa weekend of doing nothing but resting after your little bout with one of our fellow space marines."

>Who was he?

"That marine is named Aristol, part of the third company. He likes to test the worth of scouts that catch his eye. If you impressed him, he remembers your name. If not, he'll never speak to you until you join his company."

He looks at some of the scouts standing around and not following the crowd of scouts and yells at them.

"Move, you worthless bags of meat!"

The scouts quickly follow the large group and voice their apologizes quickly as they pass by.

"Don't worry about the crowd, that's for scouts that haven't impressed anyone on the first day."

The sergeant smirks a bit and stretches his back out a bit before giving you the signal to follow him.

"No, you've already impressed me. I've already put you on my squad. Welcome to Squad Valiant, Scout Nameless."

>Good to be with the squad.

"We'll be doing a little bit of front line work to see how you act under pressure first. In a few weeks we'll be heading out to fortify a stronghold in the Strangle Star system. It's small, it's out of the way, and it's holding a small rebellion led by some chaos renegade commander and three hive cities. Our job is to scout out the enemy positions so the 6th company can jump in and kill off their commander before the rebellion can escalate. You up for the challenge?"

"Alright. We'll be up in the barracks in a few hours. Grab your gear over at the quartermaster's station and meet us at the barracks."

From what you can remember about the layout of the fortress, the monastery is little whiles away from where you are right now, but you'll be able to go there and make it back to the barracks in an hour easily, giving you an extra hour to do things.

What do you guys think about doing the reverse of Aristol?

If a scout or Space Marine impresses us, we tell them our name.

And I also think our name should be Decidus
>>

You make your way to the Quartermaster to find it quite empty other than a few marines, some scouts, and a tech priest carrying a heavy bolter. The tech priest calls out a name and one of the marines walks over to him and grabs the heavy bolter before thanking him and walking off. You step out of the way and make your way to the tech priest. The tech priest looks you over for a few seconds before beeping five times. A servitor walks over to the tech priest. A large vox caster is seen in his chest. From the vox you hear...

"What do you require?"

(This is where you can customize your gear.)
>Bolter, five bolter clips, scout armor, bolt pistol, Astartes Knife.
>Sniper, pack of sixty rounds of ammo, camo cloak, scout armor, bolt pistol, Astartes Knife

"I require these items..."

You tell the tech priest the items you require. He beeps once and the vox says "yes."

After a few minutes of looking for the correct gear, he hands you your gear and some paper work. He beeps ten times and the vox caster says...

"Please fill this out when you return from your mission. Have a safe mission. Ave Emperor and Praise the Machine God."

The tech priest makes the sign of the aquila and walks away to another scout.

You head back to the barracks and decide to...

You walk over to a small gathering of scouts cleaning their weaponry after practice in the firing range. One of the scouts notices you and nudges the scout next to him.

"It's him. The one who spared with the space marine."

The scouts look back at you and, like children talking to a hero, start asking you questions.

"How'd it feel fighting an actual space marine? Was it scary?"

You shrug and some of the scouts look a little confused until one of the scouts pipes up a little bit.

"It means that he felt indifferent about the fight. He had to keep a cool head about him during the fight or would've been hurt even more."

The group agrees with the scout that piped up.

>You've gained some renown with the current scouts.

After a good thirty minutes of mingling with the few scouts that were heading out after practicing to eat, you notice that it is almost time to meet with your squad. You head to the barracks and find a small gathering of scouts over near the door. You notice that the sergeant is in the middle of the squad talking to them. He notices you and waves you over.

"Nameless, grab your gear and head on over here. We'll be heading out in a few minutes."

You grab your gear and walk over to the group.

"As I was saying before, we'll be in the enemy's lines gathering intel and taking out key targets to soften up the line. Two other squads will be with us, but they have their own missions. Just follow my lead and you'll come out alive. You can get to know more about each other in the ride over to the planet."

"Well, if you must know..."

One of the scouts with blonde hair begins to talk.

"I'm going to become a great marine and join the death watch."

Two more scouts look back at you and laugh.

"If we're sharing what we're going to be, then both of us are going to become part of the 1st company honor guard. What about you sarge? You gonna stay in the 10th?"

The sergeant simply sighs.

"I'm just here to make sure you sacks of meat make it out of your missions alive so you can become an astartes and get out of my hair."

The two scouts laugh and the blonde scouts looks back at you.

"What about you?"

---
You finally reach the hangar and the sergeant leads you all in. But, before the ramp can close it stops mid way and a full squad of marines walks in. One of the marines stops when he reaches you and takes off his helmet.

"Well well, Nameless, nice to see that you and I will be on the same mission."

The sergeant seems a little confused.

"Wait, you're coming with us?"

The sergeant of the marine squad nods.

"We've just received word that one of our tactical squads was destroyed during the defense of one of our hive cities. We are to reinforce it."

You stay silent and listen to the engines of the thunderhawk.
---
You hear the engines die down as you land inside the hangar of one of the chapter's battle barges. The ramp opens and the space marines get up and walk out. Aristol looks down at you and smiles before putting his helmet back on an d walking out of the thunder hawk onto the battlebarge.

"Alright, listen up newbies! Even though you're on the battlebarge doesn't mean to skip your training. Get to your barracks and meet me at the firing range in one hour. I'll be teaching you all how to use a bolter efficiently."

Looks like you got some time to spare before heading over to the firing range once more.

"Brotherhood, I want my brothers to make it back safe and sound from our mission."

The chaplain chuckles a little bit before motioning you to kneel.

"Oh Emperor, listen to this scout's prayers! He wishes the safety of his brothers so that the Imperium may not lose more of your holy warriors! Please answer his prayers and safeguard those he calls brothers!"

You begin to pray and you feel as though the Emperor has his gaze upon you.

>Emperor's Blessing (Brotherhood): Once per thread. If a squadmate or a close ally is about to die, you may use this Blessing to save him or her. One use only.

You get up from thirty minutes of prayer and head on over to the firing range. You see the two scouts checking out their bolt guns while the blonde scout and the sergeant are talking to each other.

"Alright, there's Nameless. Well boys, time to teach you a thing or two about bolters! Bolters have a pretty big recoil because they pack a big punch. Be prepared for the recoil because it can, and I have see this happen, dislocate your shoulder if you are not careful. So, Nameless!"

You jump up when he calls on you.

"You're the best marksman here besides Hendrick, show me what you can do."

>Bigger they are... (Once per thread) Whenever you are attacking an opponent that is double the size you are, you may flip the target on its back and then make a combat roll. Only works once on an opponent.

I am amused how most of the time we stick with silent, or just shrugging.

The Sergeant sighs at you shrugging.

"Jeez, you really are committed to this whole silent guy deal... Alright, gather 'round boys."

Four servitors come walking out from an opened battle cage. All four of them have had their right arms replaced with servo arms.

"Pick a servitor and get in there. Don't worry about the damage you do to them, just knock them out as fast as you can."

You follow a servitor into a battle cage and prepare for combat. This servitor is pretty fast, but not fast enough to beat you to the punch.

Barely even having to put effort into your swings, you quickly immobilize the servitor in front of you before it had a chance to swing. The Sergeant just laughs as he looks at you.

"Nameless, you are just the fracking pinnacle of combat genius!"

The Sergeant then smiles a devilish smile.

"Let's put five more in there, shall we?"

The cage door opens up and five more servitors run in. They assume a combat stance and look at you with their cold eyes.

She looks up and then down at the servitors and then back at her sisters who are covering their faces before she blushes.

"ah... AAH! I'm sorry! I ruined your training session!"

She looks a bit dazed. In the background you can hear your fellow squad mates cheering you on.

"Show her the wrath of our righteous fury! Don't hold back just because she's a girl!"

Visably annoyed, she casts a scary look at the scouts who stop cheering and avoid her glare.
