Falling through an endless void you have forgotten all. You are as formless, mindless as the darkness around you, with nothing to stimulate you. All has atrophied in the passage of time and left but a pale husk sleeping in ambiotic fluid. This way you would have remained until the end of time if not for the mad coin toss of fate.

The alarm explodes across your mind, stimulating all six of your senses as the cryopod holding you splits open to let you into the bright, bright world. You slip from its motherly embrace gracelessly, slamming into the solid floor beneath you with a meaty thud, you barely register this impact as your mind slowly re-ignites. Slowly, agonizingly you stagger to your feet and gaze belatedly, uncomprehendingly at the room around you. Everything you see is vague, as though looking through smokey glass yet you do not care about any of it since there is a single question reverberating through your entire being.

“Who am I?” The thought thunders through your mind, followed closely by “What am I?!” Oddly, the thought of not knowing what you are, what your purpose is, is more maddening then not knowing your name. Uncontrollable shaking takes hold of you as you clasp your head in your hands, if you knew how, you would scream, if you thought you were capable of it, you would cry for what you have lost. Yet just as the shaking reached an uncontrollable crescendo and you could feel yourself begin to lose your grip on reality, a soft, velvety voice whispers in your mind like wind through the tree.

“Tenno.”
The word reverberates throughout your being as you feel your sense of self solidify, it is not a name yet it is enough. “Loyalty, Honour, Courage.” More words flow into you and you stand taller as you understand they define you, define what you are.

You, are Tenno.

Looking down at yourself, you quickly feel your body for any irregularities. Quick and concisely you come to the conclusion that there is nothing physically wrong with you.

The armoured suit you are wearing feels familiar, as though you have spent long hours training and moving and fighting inside it. The suits name springs to your mind like a sudden ray of sunshine on a dark day. "Excalibur."

You are unarmed.

Turning back around, you blearily focus on the metal womb that held you for so long; dripping with fluid it is a sad sight. There is nothing stands out to you, no weapons, nothing you could use. It is a solid piece.

>Investigate Room
Your senses have slowly returned to a sense of normalcy, though deep down you still have a vague sense of uneasiness, of something missing.
You finally have a chance to look at the room you are in and marvel at its sheer architectural beauty. Solid, flawless white marble flooring and walls inlaid with gleaming gold. A light permeates the room, seeming to spring from nothing and you feel a slight warmth emanating throughout the room.

There are three doors in this rounded room, two are clearly locked, one is ajar.

It looks like there is something strange on one of the locked doors.

You move to the locked door and immediately see that there are strange scuff marks on door.

You try to force the solid marble and gold door open, but the force holding the door closed resists mightily. Frustrated, you punch the door as hard as you can.

Knuckles throbbing you glance at where your attack landed, there is the tiniest of cracks. After some consideration you realize that it would take a long, long time to beat your way through the door. Abruptly you realize you just punched a crack into solid marble and the pain of doing so had faded quickly. Impressed by your own abilities already, you move back to examine the scuff marks.

Looking at the scuff marks you can't discern what made them. Dismissing the marks from your mind you turn and make your way to the ajar door, there is nothing left in this room of note after all. At least, as far as you know.

Leaving the room the door slams shut behind you, there is no going back now.

Before you is a long corridor, well lit and made of the same white marble and gold as the rest of this place. Looking at the walls you see they are engraved and seem to tell a story.

>Ignore the story and rush to the exit.

Slowly walking up and down the hallway you realise that the story was engraved in such a way that as you walk in one direction the story unfolds. When you first entered the hallway the story was finishing, so you jog to the start and slowly walk back the way you came, looking at the masterfully engraved walls.

The story seems relatively simple, a great Empire, the Orokin had achieved cultural stability, equality and absolute piece. Slowly they lost touch with the old ways of gun and blade.

Then a dark force arose and threatened the Empire, the peace loving citizens of the Empire had no capability or will to engage in war, as such, a race of warrior-gods was created. Abruptly, you recognize the figures on the wall, it is a ring of Tenno in deep meditation. A second realization chases the first, this is the history of your people, of the Tenno.

Of these Tenno, a singular being stood out, this being was above their brethren in terms of strength and determination. To this Tenno a special Empire forged weapon was bequeathed a glorious sword wrought by the finest weaponsmiths of both Tenno and Orokin.

This Tenno became the leading warrior and fought the toughest of battles. Even with the creation of the mighty Tenno, the Empire was still losing. Soon enough, many of the Orokin citizens fled to a place called "The Void". There, they built mighty spires in space, this is where they dwell, now and forever.

The mighty Tenno, no longer needed, were placed in Cryostasis until they were once again called upon to serve.

The wall engraving ends suddenly, as though unfinished. The rest of the story remains untold. Turning back around, you dismiss the engravings from your mind and head towards the exit.

Stepping outside, you come to a T-junction.
Down one side, you can hear the sound of gunfire and the clash of steel. Down the other is a faint, golden glow seeping out of another ajar door.

>Rush to the sound of battle.
>Investigate the "Golden" room.

>Rush to the sound of battle

Time to live up to our namesake.
>>
>>33098415
>>33098431
You hurl yourself down the hall towards the sound of battle. The hall seems to stretch onwards, further and further and further yet you keep running. It seems effortless, you know you could maintain this dead run for hours without rest. The acoustics of the hall carry the sounds of battle to you and the screams of the dying. This urges you on faster and faster until finally you burst out into a rounded room, surveying the scene you immediately notice great mounds of metal and flesh that had once been living. They had been shot and stabbed numerous times. Their armour was bulky and rounded, spherical helmets projecting dull yellow lights. In the centre of the room, surrounded by corpses, is the long handle of a sword protruding from a raised altar. The blade itself was embedded deeper into the stone.

Looking past this altar, you see a group of figures leaving the room, they looked exactly the same as the the dead figures on the ground. As you are contemplating what to do, two things happen. The first, one of the figures turns and sees you, he then shouts out to his comrades in an unintelligible dialect and they all turn as one and begin rushing back into the room, weapons at the ready. The second thing that happens is that you see, slung unceremoniously over the shoulders of one the of the figures, the body of a Tenno. A brother, a sister, one of your own. Either they were dead or unconscious and it was clear that these menacing figures were the cause.

A bullet whizzing past your head brings you back to the situation at hand and you roll forward, deeper into the room. The roll carries you as far as the altar and you come up, hand gripping the hilt of the sword.

At once, the vague sense of unease you had been feeling for awhile now vanished, you once more had your weapon in hand. For some reason, you simply knew that this was YOUR weapon. Time seemed to slow as you ready yourself, all your emotions and thoughts seeped away.
>>
>>33098603
You are the blade, the blade is you. This realization is simple as you take a step forward, drawing the long blade out of the stone as though it weighed nothing.

You are the blade. You are death.

You feel like liquid death as you flow into the room, falling into familiar martial stances as though you had been practicing them your entire life. Amidst a spray of blood as the first figure falls, severed perfectly in half, you belatedly realize that you probably had been practing them your entire life.

Twirling, you sidestep the barrage of death and continue your dance. Another figure falls, missing an arm, then a leg and finally being pierced through completely, all this in the space of a heartbeat.

Where had you learned to fight like this? You wonder, flicking blood from your blade as you hurl yourself sideways to barrel into the legs of a figure that got to close, it went down and yet you managed to find your feet in but a moment, decapitating the fallen foe with a flick of the wrist. Your memory was an empty void, you knew nothing beyond the fact that you were Tenno, you knew nothing from before entering the metal womb you were released from what felt like moments earlier.

Two more foes rush you but underestimate your strength as you cleave through them both as though you were parting silk. Scarlet blood sprays and the white marble flooring is dirtied more.

Another foe rushes from behind and you whirl, parting head from body as easily as cutting grass. Finishing your whirl facing the last foe, time slows once more and you realize you know nothing about these figures who assault you. Once more whirling around, your roundhouse sends the decapitated head of the your last victim flying towards the last foe like a bullet, striking him in the face and stunning him. As he shakes his head to clear his mind, he feels the sharp touch of steel on his throat. His eyes clear and steady and immediately he drops his weapons as he stares into the faceless gaze of your helmet.

You pause a moment and realize it has been so long since you last spoke that your vocal chords have atrophied. Finally, after much head tossing and growling you manage to strangle out the words.
"Why...You....Here?"
The creature at first had trouble understanding the muffled words and jumped slightly when it realized you asked it a question. At first it babbled nonsensically in it's disgusting tongue but you applied pressure to the massive sword in your grip and it tried to back itself further into the wall you had forced it against. Taking deep breaths and several gulps it managed to speak a few words in a tongue you understood.
"Looking for Tenno.... Looking for...Tech. Orokin, spire. Good for.... Tenno. Good For..... Tech. Empty."

You nod in gratitude then remove its head and sheathe your sword as formally as if you were working forms with a masters eye on you, not forgetting to flick the blood from the gleaming blade in the process. The movement was so automatic and instinctive that you forgot to take the time to properly look at the blade. Unsheathing it again you saw at once that it was a masterfully crafted weapon. Flawless Orokin steel blade, gold and black marble crossguard with a black leather hilt. The pommel was also made of black marble with a single band of gold encircling it. The weapon itself was massive. A two handed greatsword with a blade that simply refused to be nicked, inspection proved that it was still flawless even after carving through all these creatures.

Sheathing it once more, you know that you and the blade have a history. It was, as you first felt when you touched it, YOUR sword. It had been with you through thick and thin, countless battles. It was your trusted companion, you knew this instinctually. Did it have a name? You couldn't remember clearly yet you know that the greatest weapons of all were named in the time of the Empire.

>Name the sword.
>Don't be silly, swords don't have names its a tool.

Looking around, you survey your handiwork. Too one side was the body of the Tenno that had so enraged you, limp and non moving. Strewn throughout the room is the bodies of the fallen. The door the creatures had been moving through was still open. The door you came through is still open.

Naming sword.
>>
>>33099266
The name comes to you and you embrace it like an old friend. Anima. A fitting name, it represents your subconscious instincts, finely honed to a razors edge.

Moving to the Tenno's body, you see a glowing, white badge of some kind of fang, a red blood drop is depicted touching the tip of the fang.

Placing your hand on her neck, you see to your despair that she has passed.
"May the last embrace of the Lotus welcome you home." The words, uttered coherently and instantly came as a shock to you. You had no idea where they came from, nor who the Lotus is.You did know that it was the Tenno's ancient farewell to the departed.

Glancing at her bow, you see that it had been snapped in twain. You leave her blade with her and move her into a more restful pose, hands crossed over her chest, clasping the sword hilt. Standing back up, you bow respectfully and turn away from the corpse, looking back once more on the room.
>>
>>33099205
Gotta ask, did you know what Anima meant?

Because.
Nice. It fits it perfectly.

>>33099418
Ignoring the other corpses you stride back to the entrance and retrace your steps to the golden room.

Inside is an absolute plethora of technology, bits and pieces of scraps and everywhere resources of all kinds of flavours. You could see circuit ships stacked next to a rare malleable metal, Gallium. Beyond that, a small mountain of blood red crystal rocks. Ores of all kinds, large chunks of iron as well as mountains of gold. Yet in the centre of it all floating atop a pedestal, something catches your eye. Whatever it is, you know it is extremely rare and very important. Stepping up the pedestal you look around it and gaze it at from all angles. There was nothing visible that hinted towards danger yet in a treasure room like this, who knew?

You know that it would take dozens and dozens of people to properly move all the resources in this gigantic room. Since it would take the concerted effort of an entire Clan to move them, a lone Tenno would have no hope in taking any of it. The only thing you would be able to take is the strange item on the pedestal

>Take the item, to hell with the risk.
>Caution is best, back off and leave.
>>
>>33099358
Absolutely.

Although, if you're not talking the Latin definition, it also means the feminine portion of a man's personality.

>>33099513
>Take the item, to hell with the risk

>>
>>33099581

>>33099513

>>
>>33099581
You snatch the item from its pedestal and take a stop back, dropping into a defensive stance just in case. Nothing happens and after a moment you relax and leave the room. You head back towards the room you retrieved Anima and you can immediately hear the sounds of gunfire coming from beyond the door. It is long distant and the fighting might be done by the time you get there.

>Rush to the fighting.
>Examine the bodies.

I purchase Prime Access for $100, buy inventory slots, golden and blue 'taters, the Rhino frame, Dual Zorens, Soma, Twin Vipers, the Grineer colour pack, a clan emblem, an affinity booster and equip all of that. From now on, I'll gring the first few levels to get a feel for the world I am in, then I die a lot to bullshit lag, get shit mods from unforgiving RNG droptables, only to cave in and spend more of my premium currency on mod packs, which are RNG, too, get more shit mods and maybe one or two usefull ones, then I give up and hop on /Recruiting, where I spam my "halp, I am a nob!" for half an hour, get taken on a Mobile Defense run way beyond my level and emerge with ~40 new mods, out of which 5 are usefull. Now brimming with affinity, I equip all those mods that are halfway usefull, then I hop onto /Tradung and simply flatout buy the other cool mods I need for the rest of my Platinum.

After geting to level 30, the game becomes trivial and I grind for hours on end towards ... getting more frames and weapons I might never even bother playing.

You breathe in and your heartbeat calms down. The sound of gunfire is the sound of forces clashing. You remember now - some of it. You were a guardian, of something important. Less an object, more ... people. A thing that consisted of people. The thought is getting blurry, and your vision is cracking up for a second, then stabilizes. Suddenly, a soft female voice, distorted by static, resonates in your ears.

"...nno. Can you hear me, Tenno? We do not have much time. The evacuation team reports they are close by, but encounter much heavier resistance than expected. Find the enemy. Leave none alive."

The transmission ends as abruptly as it came. You are not sure if you can respond - or how. Your vision shows a new marker, a AR overlay, that marks a spot with a diamond shape and reads "Support EVAC Operatives".

best of the first three linked rolls, d100.
100 means critical
80-99 extreme success
60-80 moderate success
40-60 neutral result
20-40 moderate failure
2-20 extreme failure
1 means critfail, even though it would never be the best roll, it overrides other rolls, except 100.

If best of three seems like it would mean we never fail, you haven't met /tg/ dice yet.
>>
>>33099986
Best of 3 is pretty awful system. I'd use something like Banished Quest's dice mechanics, it actually has a chance of failure.
