/tg/ - Traditional Games

Stage 12: Keeping Things Clean before Getting Down and Dirty.

Currently, you are standing in a downpour of icy rain. While this would not normally be a situation to be pleased with, at the moment the icy rain is soothing a lot of very frazzled nerves and the sound of the downpour is calming a very troubled mind, all of the above belonging to a very worried and slightly alarmed....well, you.

The reason for the rain is that you summoned it, and reason for the summoning is a large swath of red paste that used to be three living, breathing oni-born mercenary perverts. A little wind directs the rain against the house, washing off the wall. You've killed before, in self defense and when needed, and you are certainly no stranger to high levels of violence, being part of Clan Ryo, a league of Yakuza and assassins with a great deal of ancestry stemming from spiritual beings such as Dragons, Oni, and Youkai. But this is a different scope, a different scale.

Partly because of the sheer amount of power it takes to reduce thee incredibly tough creatures to nothing more than red syrup – not even their bones or the bits of metal in their clothing and property was spared – is astronomical. And partly because, in an indirect but no less than totally responsible manner, you did this.

You are Ryuu Ryukusa, shinobi and Yakuza, spawn of a Water Dragon and a human, and the reincarnation of a dead god of destruction. Which means you're more of an unfinished demigod than a dragonette, but at this rate you're not sure you want to be a demigod at all. At least, if it were not for the fact you might need that power to protect the people you love from the enemies that are circling the dark water like sharks and planning to hurt every single one of them for reasons varied and unpleasant. Fully half of those sharks are indirectly associated with your very existence, now that you think about it.
>>
>>33125592
The other half are after your principle. The person you were hired to keep safe and protected until her wedding day, even if it cost you your life. She had at one time been an annoying, pompous, self involved bitch. That was before you knew she had been tortured, experimented on, and neglected by those who were supposed to keep her safe and healthy. Her marriage to a rival clan of Yakuza consisting of sorcerers and witches was meant to help seal a three way exchange of power between her father's corrupt zaibatsu, Clan Ryo, and Clan Kaga.

Oh, and she is apparently wanted by at least two government organizations, one of which isn't even Japanese. And possibly some religious group. And maybe some Chinese gangsters who claim to be divine beings.

Of course that was before she confessed her love to you, and you accepted her confession. And consummated it later.

After your two subordinates offered to help you relieve the tension she created in you. Repeatedly.

Which happened after you promised her elder sister, who looks like her little sister, that you would get her dominatrix lover out of the sorcerously sealed trap that she had created at her lovers behest. Yeah, that one still confuses you a little. Oh, said promise was made after giving said elder sister special attention to the point of climax (which weirdly didn't involve anything resembling sex).

Which your girlfriend is perfectly okay with, apparently.

Hence standing in the rain.

Well, that's not quite true. Mostly you're standing in the rain because not even you are sure you're okay with THIS.

Sure, they had been planning on taking naked pictures of your principle, getting a whole lot of yen for them, and plastering them all over the internet, humiliating her very powerful Zaibatsu owning father and her slightly less well known but equally dangerous finance's father. Which would have been taken while you were kissing her, against the very dangerous leader of your clan's very explicit and threatening orders. Intuitively, the part of you that did this recognized at least one of them as being wholly and irredeemably evil with a capital psychopath, so there is that.

But still.

On the other hand, which you currently lack, you are going to rescue a sorceress who knows much, much more about what is happing to you than anyone else you dare risk speaking to. The leader of your clan knows, which is why she planned on having your best friend keep tabs on you and keep you from learning about it. Said best friend sided with you, because she realized you were a better person than the head of your clan. Which put her on a hit list.

The spiritualist who is related to your principle is also on said leader's hit list for not turning over said sorceress. Who happens to be her dominatrix lover. Said spiritualist knows what is going on with you as well. Two names on multiple hit lists.

To top things off, in three days you have to fight an actual oni who serves an actual rain god who so happens to be a True Dragon, because you rescued the oni's niece from a life of slavery and abuse. That would be the other subordinate who is now your best friend's lover. You best friend being the first subordinate you have. That's a hit list at the end of a really big iron club.

Oh, and you're mostly dragonettes, which means there is an ACTUAL demigod with a dragon slaying sword out there wanting you all dead just because you are related to dragons. Especially you, because you're her draconian equivalent, and that probably pisses her off no end.

Too Long, Didn't Read: You, a malfunctioning demigod pretending to be a dragonette, are all that stands between everyone who loves you and fates worse than death, if not just death.

But you've cleaned up the mess, washed off the house, and cooled down. And your girlfriend is waiting inside with a nice, hot bath for you. Her sister is cooking breakfast. Your two subordinates have tea ready and waiting, and probably a dish of Red Bean Jelly waiting for you and your lover.

And right now there could be nothing better.

Kiki is great. I don't believe Kiku didn't notice ANYTHING wrong with her until after she made friends with Akari though. And don't understand why Kiku didn't try to do more to help her.

Are we going to get a Kiku's Tale immediate backstory pastebin or is the flashback all we're getting?

How about we NOT make this situation any worse by calling up even more of Horobi's powers by calling a deluge or praying?
They've always had unpredictable consequences in the past, and we've got plans that could be adversely affected by doing something stupid.
>>
>>33125767
Point. I'm mostly annoyed at how we've basically been informed that she's the most important to us by literally everyone without the players really saying anything. Especially since I don't really see why she'd the most important
>>
>>33125796

The option is "You'd normally pray, but that seems like it's not a good idea". I feel it's an observation that should be explicitly made.

Bah, it will be like ancient royalty. One "official" queen (Kiki), lots of concubines. In our case it will be a marriage both political and of love, but that doesn't mean we'd neglect our harem.

You mean, besides the fact that we've been shown, not told, every time Ryukusa gets close that she feels more strongly about Kiki on some levels than she does the others?

Probably some reincarnation afoot, or something. Great cosmic principle(s) we don't understand yet. Or it might just be the supernatural chemistry.
>>
[X] Go inside, drop the Barrier, bath time.
[] Keep the Barrier up, take advantage of the timelessness to sneak into the bathroom.

[] You'd pray, but that seems to lead to strange shit, and occasionally horrifying danger.
[] Let loose with one brief, primal deluge of rain, lightning, and thunder. Blow off some goddamn angst, you edgy little lizard! Jeez.

A quick sweep of the perimeter takes you about half an hour subjective time, but since you purposefully excluded everyone else from your barrier, you can take all the time you need to do it in any case. So a thorough, careful inspection to help ground your wicked thoughts and raving mind is just what the boss ordered. And you should know, because apparently you're the boss according to everyone.

With that completed and revealing nothing, there is nothing stopping you going inside and removing the barrier. It was only the supernatural nature of the....incident that allowed you to clean it under the Barrier's effect in any case. Otherwise you would have has to clean it with actual rain, which could have attracted attention.

That would have sucked, and is something to consider when fighting the normal humans who seem to have your lover's pretty pink head in their cross-hairs.

Of course....you could have a little fun.

>You mean, besides the fact that we've been shown, not told, every time Ryukusa gets close that she feels more strongly about Kiki on some levels than she does the others?
Our body seems to react yeah. Doesn't mean that I would have preferred to have the option to actually accept when offered to relieve stress, rather than Ryukusa refusing for us and saying we had to sex up Kiki first.
>>
>>33125917
Horobi noticed Kiki has liked Ryukusa for years and is shipping them hard. Kiki's mom feels the same way.

That's not how the "tell" part of "show, don't tell" works.

I know quests are interactive, but at some point you have to lean back and let regular narrative conventions apply.
>>
>>33125936
Still, taking a deep breath, you slip inside, and walk down the emptiness of the house. To your surprise, Kiku's door is vibrant with power....as is the wall it's attached to. She's apparently working on something, most likely the ritual to send you across the Barrier to her entrapped lover.

You tighten your robe, and let the barrier collapse.

Yui is up and out of her seat instantly, her taiko sticks in hand, and ready to pounce. Miko-Kiku glances back, and then utterly ignores you, while Akari has merely placed one hand under the kotatsu, and is sipping tea....her eyes fixed on you.

“All cleaned, all clear. Still, I wouldn't go outside unless you absolutely have to.”

Yui relaxes, and Kiku calls from the kitchen, “Breakfast in twenty-five minutes.” You make a gesture and Akari slowly places her hand on top of the kotatsu. Yui, however, noticed. No, that's not a stupid oni-chick at all.

“Please explain to Yui-niji-chan, Akari? I need a shower.”

“Hai, aniki.”

You walk down the hallway, then into the safe-room, where you can taste steam and floral scents. The door is open just a crack, and as you slip inside the room is darker than you expected; the only lights are from the burning incense and a single paper lantern hanging from a hook in the ceiling, washing the bathroom (bathing the washroom?) in a strange combination of pale yellow and dim red. She is dressed in a very simple pink and white robe, far less luxurious than what you are used to her being in. Kumatori Kiki is sitting on one of the scrubbing stools, of which there are three, yet the rinsing basin is empty. The tub is full of hot water through. The steam has obscured the mirror she faces, away from the door.

I said been informed. The fact that XS did a decent job of the informing was irrelivent.
>I know quests are interactive, but at some point you have to lean back and let regular narrative conventions apply.
True, which is why I'm in favor of keeping Kiki around despite not caring for her that much personally. Doesn't mean we can't treat them and care for them equally.

Honestly, I just think its out of character for Ryukuza to decide that any one of the girls who's smiles we protected is the "most precious treasure." That's bullshit, they're all our precious treasures equally. To point at the others and say "you're not as important to me" is nonsense.

We did Water Eyes her dossier. Which means we instantly understood everything there was to observe about her from a picture, which included figuring out the existence of her history of abuse.

Probably changed Ryukusa's perspective a little.
>>
>>33126124
>As long as you don't start voting for the most Anti-Kiki options out of spite, there's no problem with that.
Nah, I'm just giving feedback like XS asked. The most "anti-Kiki" option I'll likely propose, vote for is calling her one of our precious treasures, and reassuring the others that they are just as important as Kiki. Maybe gently scolding Akiria for assuming that she's less important to us.
>>
[X] Join her on another stool

You silently settle on one of the other stools, turning it to face her directly. Opening your Water Eyes doesn't need a blink or a movement. You can see she is troubled, more by her situation than anything you have done or said to her. Not her situation with you precisely. But instead, the situation that has thrown you together so abruptly. It's clear to you, under this power, that her self assurance granted by her own spirit-eyes is not nearly as strong as it was last night.

She relaxes, slowly, your presence seeming to soothe her in some way. Your Pearl is slowly pulsing within your chest, reacting to her presence, but there is another sensation, a strange, gently roiling sensation, as though it is bubbling inside or shifting internally. Not an unpleasant or uncomfortable sensation, just different. It is very difficult not to reach out and touch her, hold her.

Apparently she feels the same because her hand reaches out, and you instinctively allow it to slip into yours, before she takes a deep breath. “My father wishes you to protect me for the wedding to the finance he chose for me. Or, was chosen for me. I know you have already decided on what you are going to do, and I agree with it. I want what you want. Not just for me, but for Yui-san, and Akari-san and Jinyuu-sensei.” She doesn't seem to have realized that her sister is now part of this, or is trying to ignore that. “But I thought I should ask formally, so there is no doubt in your mind later.”

How ominous sounding. But you don't think it's your mind she is really trying to settle.

You let the Water Eyes close, because as useful as they are it's been proven you don't always have a clear head for emotional things – which is something you'd never thought you might have to admit, like, ever – and too much information can be worse for that than too little. Also, it's unlikely that things will change that much just yet. You hope. Maybe. Ah, fuck it!

“Well....that really depends on what you wish to ask, Kiki-hime. I don't think we can get married in Japan. I think they allow it in Switzerland. And a couple of states in America.”

It's a good thing she regenerates because, damn, she had to have dislocated her jaw.

“Ryu-chan!” You smile, and squeeze her hand gently, her outrage dissipating almost instantly under the firm touch. “You may ask anything you like of me, Kiki-hime. But it's only fair I get to tell you something too.”

With a small smile, she pulls her hand gently free of yours, and then gets off the stool, kneeling on an entirely-too-conveniently-placed-towel, her hands on her thighs. Keeping her eyes lowered she takes several deep breaths, steeling herself. It is worth noting that she's dressed similarly to you – short simple robe in two colors, and....well, nothing really underneath, which you kind of ignored when you went outside earlier. Yours happens to be black with silver satin edging, hers pink with white.

Totally planned on her part, and rather flattering, in a way. As if you were married, as you keep threatening to do to her.

While she doesn't open her eyes, she smiles a little, and relaxes more. She takes another breath, a more normal one, and then speaks formally and softly. “Ryuu Ryukusa. Please protect me from those who wish me harm, regardless of what claims they have upon my person. I will pay you whatever price you think is fair for such a difficult and dangerous duty. I do not wish you to be my father's shinobi any longer, but my....my samurai. My warrior.” Kumatori Kiki hesitates for a moment, and you let her compose herself, her words.

You can feel eyes upon you, five pairs of them, but you ignore them in favor of not distressing Kumatori Kiki any further than she's distressing herself.

She half bows, her hands on the floor before her, fingertips touching. “Please destroy those whom mean me harm, Ryuu Ryukusa, in the name of Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado.”

Your Pearl gives one strong, terrible pulse of power, and begins to beat in time with your heart, her heart, in hard, strong, distinct pulses, very much unlike previous times when it simply throbbed gently.

The sensations you are feeling are MUCH stronger than the other times. The source of your confusion last night, the troublesome and somewhat dangerous interaction between your Pearl and hers.

You take your own deep, slow breath, and reach our, drawing stray fuchsia hair away from her sky blue eyes, turned a strange golden color in the lantern's light. “I will protect you, Kumatori Kiki, because that is what I, in my own name and with my own strength, wish to do.” With a shake of your head, and a gentle smile you go to your own knees and slip your arm around her. “And the price will be your happiness, your safety....your smile, Kiki-hime. Nothing more. Or less.”

The relief in her voice is good to hear, and her arms slip around your waist. “Hai, Ryukusa-chan.” Your pearl ceases to thunder in your chest, the pulsing the more familiar softness of your entwined heartbeats, and you feel something heavy rise from you, a dangerous shadow passing away from you. “But there is one thing I have to take care of.” You kiss her cheek, and linger long enough to smell the sakura blossoms you now know is the scent of her skin, and rise, walking to the door.

You open the bathroom door quite violently, and look down at your kneeling audience, noting, as you do so, that only Kiku, Akari, and Yui are here. You suspect that Jinyuu-onee-sama is one of the other set of eyes, since she knows of the place and helped create the defenses and protections....but you can only guess at the other set of eyes. It would require powerful magic indeed to penetrate the protections of this place, but it would definitely have to be magic of some sort.
>>
>>33126778
Setting aside the corundum for later, you look down at the collective trio. “I hope that you aren't planning to join us, because really, there's just no room.”

Kiki graces the joke with laughter, rather than jealousy or being spiteful or upset at the interruption.

“You didn't feel that aniki?” Yui is looking up at you with bright, glowing green-blue eyes.

You note that Miko-Kiku is carefully sliding several paper seals into the sleeve of her miko outfit. Politely, you do not mention it. “Not that I'd say – and neither did Kiki-hime.”

“Something big moved in here. We thought something might happen.” While Akari can lie with a straight face, you can tell she's neither lying nor making a joke. Kiki steps up behind you and lays her hands on your shoulders. “If we had heard something strange, we would have come in.” In no uncertain terms, she's telling you a potential threat was sensed and she was ready to kill anyone and everyone in the room except Kiki.

Which does not exclude you. But that was inclusive in your original orders to her – Kiki is to be protected at all costs.

“While I'm flattered, I did nothing more than announce my engagement. Nothing that you should have been surprised by I'm sure. And nothing you can say will convince me you're all not just a bunch of peepers!” The flicker of Akari's smile tells you she got your countersign perfectly, and that all is well. Yui runs a hand through her hair, looking away and very embarrassed. Miko-Kiku, being Clan Ryo trained, knows what almost happened just now all too well....and would have helped.

Yui blinks and suddenly looks interested again. “Can I wear a tuxedo?”

This is actually a lucky break. Her dad would kick our ass, being an actual god with the sword.
She is under trained (although I bet she got some proper training since then) so we stand a chance of beating her and claiming the grass cutting blade (would be useful against the old snake) or destroying it
>>
What would Ryukusa's life have been like if she had been in the Special class with the 3 other demigods and two demon-born?

[X] Ah, you'll wear a lovely dress!
[] Formal kimono for you!
[] Nope, full o-yoroi dress armor!
[] Lingerie only wedding!

“No, Yui, I'm putting you in a dress. A very pretty one. Designed especially for you.” You look down sternly at her, your eyes narrowed, your expression as ominous as you can manage. “One that will proudly display your tail to everyone.” You had noticed she seemed to be embarrassed by her tiny tail. And holy crap is it hard to keep a straight face!

“Faaaack!” She hangs her head, and looks positively devastated.

Kiku shakes her head and stalks off. “Baka oni-tomboy.”

Akari slips her fingers into Yui's hand as she guides her to follow after Kiku. “I think you will look very pretty in a dress.”

“.....you....you....stupid lizard...” Yes, that sounded much more the submissive sort of thing you expected from her. Of course, now you HAVE to put her in a dress! But not pink. So not her color.

You slide the door shut and leans back against it, and Kiki is standing there, looking at you with shining blue eyes, a smile upon her lips. Ignorant of the fact that Akari just threatened to kill you if you had not countered three “somethings” with three “nothings.” Better she just not know some things. But possession is a real threat for your kind.

“A real wedding?” she doesn't look like she quite believes it, though, which is good. You'd heard rumors about misunderstandings like that.

“No, Kiki-hime. It just sounded non-threatening and made Akari-chan smile. Personally, I think she'd suffer a mild heart attack at the thought. And...to be honest....I” How do you explain this? You said you wanted to tell her something. Now you have that chance.
>>
>>33125947
I also got the feeling akari was most important to us.
and we planned to sex all of them after the whole thing was over.
the way i see it though, kiki was more assertive while akari took "not yet" for an answer.

>[] You'll wear a Ryukusa-approved Tux!

You close your eyes and take a deep breath, and she lets you, watches you. Letting you take the time you gave her. “I don't know how much of this is you and I, and how much is the strangeness that is part of me now. I can't tell anymore. I don't regret one word, or one thing that has happened. But there is a fate before us.” Wait, that's what Kiku-chan said to Er Yin.

Kumatori Kiki smiles, and shakes her head. “They are all very devoted to you, Ryu-chan.” She steps forward and slides her hand along your chest, stroking the upper slopes of your breasts, before spreading the robe open past your shoulders and allowing it to fall to the floor. “I would be jealous, if I did not understand you.” Her fingers gently unlace the silken cover that hides the blue tinged stump of your left arm, which ends two inches above where your elbow should be.

The twinned snakes made of silver, with their sapphire eyes, is affixed and wrapped tightly to your arm, pierced through the bones. You did that yourself as a makeshift tourniquet, and the effect is rather stunning on your pale skin and with your sapphire eyes and horns. She traces them slowly, one finger upon each snake. It occurs to you she's never seen the wound before – it was covered before Akari let her get near you. Unlike a human wound, there isn't a seal or a cap of scar tissue. The wound looks as it would as if fresh, save that it varied shades of blue, as if viewing it through a blue filter glass. It is also numb, the flesh cool and slick, like glass.

And inside a Barrier, the limb exists, in a way. A really, really scary sort of way.

“Does it hurt?”

“No. It didn't hurt when it happened. Of course, I was much more worried about you, so any pain was kind of something I didn't really notice.” She nods, her expression still serious, just before she leans close, kissing your shoulder softly. You lift your head slightly, as she kisses you throat, your thudding carotid, your cheek. You lower your head, flushed and much warmer now. “It was just what had to be done, that is all. Actually there was a mention of her being blind. Tough it doesn't say anything about mutilation.

Speaking of severed hands, I was thinking
>Hand can't be reattached for dragonettes because the soul portion of the hand was severed as well.
>Natural result of this is weaker in chi and jung
>Chi did get weaker, jung remained the same
>We used yin to draw all power from hand
>This turned it into stone
>When our allies searched, they couldn't find the severed soulstuff, only the physical remains
>Have a ghost hand in barriers
We must have consumed our own severed soul portion, this is why jung didn't go down (have the same amount of soul) while chi did (have less flesh). This is also the source of the ghost hand, we still have the soul of our hand, we are just missing the physical portion (which is really good if we ever try to regenerate it, or if we want to attempt to get a prosthetic which we animate with water magic, I say we go prosthetic). They thought what we did was go backwards in the elemental cycle (water affects stone, impossiburu!), but that isn't the case at all, what we did was consume all the water elemental essence (and soul) from the physical object (our ex flesh), since the elements comprise all matter, with all the water removed the stone became dominant. (or maybe we removed all elements other than stone from it because the stone was the one element we couldn't consume at all in it?) It really is just a lifeless rock now. Probably be easier to grow a brand new replacement hand than repair that one.

... hey, it occurred to me, since our human body is a huge limiting factor on our ability to exert power outside a barrier, would learning the lesser magics of chi sorcery and increasing our chi allow our body to withstand more power and thus exert more power in the mortal world outside a barrier?
>>
If she's blind, it functionally doesn't matter because her Void Eyes work just fine.

>>33127540
I don't understand why you all want to repair the arm when we have a perfectly functional ghost-arm that we barely know how to use.

>>33127496

anyways, read the part about her undressing for her beloved "properly". at first she didn't do it properly because her lover is blind. But then she learned better since her lover can HEAR her undressing properly (sexy)/improperly (boring)
>>
>>33127559
>I don't understand why you all want to repair the arm
In that post I am EXPLICITLY stating I DO NOT want it repaired, I want a cool prosthetic
I was explaining WHY we have a ghost arm.
>>
>>33127559
Because
1. We can't use it outside a barrier
2. We'd like to have a freaking arm back.
really, this isn't complicated.
>>
>>33127559
>I don't understand why you all want to repair the arm
My guess is because missing an arm lowers your chi, which makes you weaker outside of barriers, reducing the amount of magic your body can stand you exerting in the real world
>>
>>33127559
Because its our freaking arm? Really, isn't complicated.
Plus, I don't want her to be remembered as an one armed swordsman.
>>
[X] Inari

Of all the possible complications that a dragonette's powers cause which should be taught, you're fairly certain that if this had been one of them, they would have mentioned it to you. Using your Water Eyes to look at Kiki should have done nothing unusual, had no repercussions, even if you looked into her Wood Eyes. After all, they're your eyes seeing what is present outside of you, right?

FUCK YOU ARE GOING TO KILL THAT STUPID SNAKE BITCH FOR FUCKING WITH YOU!

It isn't so much the reflection of you in her eyes, or the reflection of her in your eyes, but that combination of both, the infinite mirror images, spread out over the surface of your eyes. The possibilities like branches spreading out before you, instantly collated and made clear by the purity of your insight. A hundred thousand lifetimes.

You know, from your basic school lessons, about one of the chief deities of Shinto, Inari. Fox goddess, rice goddess, swordsmiths' patroness, and a dozen other things. Shapeshifter and mysterious force. Sometimes seen as a serpent. Or a Dragon. Not one deity. Three, sometimes five deities. Born long after Horobi's death, before Ryujin's birth....mysteriously born, out of nothing. Five deities, acting as one, changing shape....different bodies, different elements. Five elements.

Five deities.

>MFW nobody tried that before because "hey, those weakling human sorcerers have nothing worth learning for someone as awesome as me"
Although in retrospect, it might just be a matter of effective use of time. those 20 years to learn chi manipulation might be better spent getting better at barrier combat.
>>
>>33127616
Five beings called one god. Inari was not a god. It was a group of spirits, hidden apart, kept away from each other. Because Horobi was too dangerous to let live, and could not be allowed to have his harem of dragons and oni to keep him safe and sane and stable...and kind. An unkind god is feared and dangerous and would never be allowed to return. But a kind god....

You blink, and Kiki-hime is smiling at you, her eyes closing, her Eyes closing. A heartbeat's worth of time lost to you.

Apparently, your hyperactivity serves a purpose after all.

These are your people. Your Precious Treasures, each and every one. And they will do anything to stop you from being with them, protecting them, and holding them close, because somehow, they are the key to Horobi's sanity.

Inari is a composite of the spirits of Horobi's harem, kept apart in order to keep Horobi insane and vengeful, because it's easy to unite everyone against an insane god of destruction, but not against some dude who just wants to chill with his girls.

The Horobi's harem is 5 people, and if they reincarnate, they make Horobi happy, and not likely to destroy everything.

>>
>>33127720

Wood Eyes is perfect psychology. You see what led a person to be the way they are now, and you see all the paths they could grow into in the future, and how to make it happen. Which is probably why Kiki is cool with what people would normally call our weird harem predilicions. She can see the stability Ryukusa who may become Horobi needs from multiple directions. Probably.

The "mirrors within mirrors" effect probably allowed us to see the entire cause and effect of our own mentality, leading to the ultimate sherlock conclusion. Or something.

>>33127762
>>33127752
>>33127739

It's spiritual entity worshiped as 1, which is made up of 5 distinct facets. Just like Hekate has multiple faces, or the Fates or the Norns are spoken of as both a group and individuals.

Five points, five anchors, which spiritually all represent the same purpose. Each is both its own entity, and part of a single collective. It's all very metaphysical. They are all Inari, yet they are also all whatever they are on their own. And then synchronicity makes it all one singular deity, or something. Mythology is not static, it evolves over time, okay?

As >>33127794 said. The impression I get is that the five consorts conglomerated into the form of Inari after the death of Horobi. Which, as >>33127807 said, they're all five points that make up the different facets of 1 perceived entity.

this ties in nicely with our own self being a reincarnation of horobi, yet praying to it, successfully I might add. its the whole hinduism "aspect of a deity" thing I think. We are still playing something distinct to horobi.
I suspect we could remain as as is, perfectly merge, or perhaps even diverge and split up into two completely separate beings entirely (where it was merely reborn through our body, like we are its mother).

Oh hey, I just remembered. there is a prophecy that when horobi is reborn there would be a huge calamity, and we saw a huge barrier ouside our own barrier with a tsunami.
Whether this is horobi's work or his enemies work (maybe susano's wrath?).
If that tsunami is allowed to build up and sweep through, it will destroy the spirit of the buildings of a huge swath of land which, as we know, would prompt a MASSIVE natural disaster IRL. We should probably try to destroy that tsunami, or calm it (same thing, different methods). i wonder if we can use the aspect of destruction to destroy a prophecy. Or maybe it would just redirect, the calamity could very well be the death of all the "sharks" circling around us.

[XXX] Tell her about your vision.
[XXX] It's not important right now....hold her close.
[XXXXXX] Kiss her.
[XX] Thank you, and kiss her, and never ever do that again.

You close your eyes (again?) and slip your arm around her, and kiss her slowly, deeply, thoroughly. Her ignorance was your gift, and your lack of proper training gave you a piece of the puzzle. It really sucked, which is why doing it again is so totally out of the question until you GET some proper training, but it is still another piece of the puzzle.

You break the kiss slowly, and smile at her, relaxing against the cool door. “I see visions in your eyes....”

She giggles and looks coy.

“No, really, I saw a vision in your eyes. You really should be more careful about that. Didn't anyone teach you to control your powers at all?”

“....what powers?”

…..kami damn them all. “You're joking?” Please please please....

“I know I am strong, and regenerate, and can't be poisoned or sick....I can make plants grow better, and water can't really hurt me....I can shape stone with my hands...”

She's quite possibly more dangerous than you, totally by accident. Suddenly, visions and situations beyond control take a back seat to getting her trained in SOMETHING so that she doesn't accidentally summon an army of trees to her defense when something startles her.

Yeah, we get Er Yin free. Akari/Yui/Kiku can cover the basics with her.

Actually, thinking on it, it might even be better if we don't intervene too much in the training. Impulsiveness and hyperactivity are poor traits in a teacher.

I guess that makes Horobi the pentagram formed in the center?

>>33128022

Yeah, but we could have passed that off as just an unconscious threat response, like how we might reflexively blow wind at something. Now that we know she has no idea that she could even do that, it's even more dangerous.

>[] Explain very gently that she's been mis-taught a lot of things she should know.
Was she actually mis taught? with no mother (dragon parent) and being raised by scientists who were studying her, there was nobody to teach her.
I guess the highschool you went to together didn't bother teaching those things either
Although maybe her father intentionally filtered the knowledge she got to keep her under control.

Also, I seriously doubt he was behind her mother's death/disappearance simply due to the power involved. I find it more likely that he seduced her for the power he would gain, and when she died unexpectedly he capitalized on the situation by experimenting on his daughter

I am more than a bit curious about why kiku didn't put a stop to it. Maybe she doesn't know?
>>
So... I don't like neglecting our other waifus.
as I understood it our plan was to NOT go all the way with akari/yui while we pretended our relationship with kiki was purely professional to buy us time to train until the wedding date (when we go rogue).
However, kiki was more assertive then them and we didn't have the heart to say no. So now that this cat is out of the bag, I think we can move on with the rest of the harem instead of keeping on refusing them.
OR, we could insist with kiki that we pretend proprietary until we go rogue on the wedding date. If only so we don't accidentally knock her up prematurely (we are totally knocking her up after we go rogue)
>>

[X] Explain very gently that she's been mis-taught a lot of things she should know.
[X] Gently, but quickly, demonstrate why Water dragonettes are always so clean.
[] Breakfast is calling, can't you hear it Kiki-hime?
[] Undress her and lovingly bathe her.
[] Apologize, but tell her should shower quickly, despite the fact you were totally looking forward to this.

You take a deep, slow breath, controlling your emotions because at the moment you may be in a dangerous situation. It takes no effort, and your Clever, Dangerous mind does it automatically. “Kiki-hime, some people have been very remiss in your schooling. I know that we attended Celestial High together, but someone should have been teaching you a lot more than they did.” She blinks, confused. She starts to say something but you place your fingers against her lips, and she pauses, listening intently as you disrupt her Chi to make her focus on yours.

“Whatever you've been told about your powers has been purposefully mis-taught to you, just like they did to me. You're very powerful, but you don't even know what powers you may have. We're all going to train together, but I need you to relax, and trust me, and know that I will never let you come to harm.” You take your fingers from her lips and look at her seriously. “I promised, remember?”

To your immense relief she smiles, relaxed and calm. “Yes, Ryu-chan. I remember.”

With a warm smile, you slowly push the left side of her robe from her shoulder, and then the right, spilling it along her arms and waist, partially trapping her in her kimono, since the belt is still tied. As you begin to work your fingers into the knot, and you notice her blush, and her rather taut nipples. “As much as would love to take a long, lovely bath with you, we spent most of breakfast cooking time having visions and talking. So, I am going to show you the best trick in the world.”
>>
>>33128188
I think that with how our powers were activated sooner than expected due to our praying and letting Horobi off the leash, we won't be able to wait until the wedding before going rogue.

And even when we do go rogue, we're killing the leadership of two yakuza clans and a zaibatsu; there is absolutely no one who could stop us from taking them over and turning them into parts of our hoard.
>>
>>33128214
>I think we are going rogue sooner than the wedding date, but yeah.
as long as we communicate properly, nobody has to know prematurely and we can have 4 whole months to train.
We make sure to update kikis father and obasan on our status, the day before the wedding we give them fake dossiers on how we plan on delivering her to the wedding... then we don't show up.
Sure, we already decided 100% we are going rogue, but there is no reason to tell them of that until we have to.
>>
>>33128246
You frown and consider. “Except for that mask guy. That's really cool.”

She giggles and watches as you manage the knot. “Well....as long as I get a rain check.”

“Can't, already stole Yui's rain.” She giggles, and then pauses as you finally get the obi untied and let her sleeping robe fall away. “Wait, you really did that?”

“Yes. Killed her right after. She got better though. So will I.” Slowly wrap your arm around her waist and walk her backwards into the middle of the room. You kiss her, to which she responds eagerly....sliding your hand back behind her head, you keep her entrapped in the kiss.

Then you take all the water and turn the bathroom into your own personal typhoon.

She squirms of course, the rushing winds and warm water sliding, splashing, rushing around you both, and you purposefully make it a lot more intimate and intense than you typically do just to be a tease. You keep the kiss, sharing your water breathing with her, her body responding you your power by accepting it and healing her instantly of it. In a few minutes, she's shaking like a leaf and you replace all the water in the tub, both of you perfectly dry, and not a single bit of steam or droplet of water misplaced.

“....and that's why we're always so clean.”

Her breathing is excited and her expression that of a child whose just gone on their first ever roller-coaster ride and LOVED it.

“....that was....that was....”

You nod solemnly.
>>
>>33128259
There's still the problem that the resurrection of Horobi is causing waves in the Spirit World, and that people that have been watching us for when this happens probably already see that the timeline has been moved up.
>>
>>33128266
You let her dress herself, her hands shaking and her eyes still shock-wide, and slip out to breakfast....after collecting some shorts for you and pants for her, which YOU have to help HER with.

Red Bean Jelly for sure now.

As you settle at the table with what is now entirely your family. There may be one or two more, but right now, this, beyond any measure of a doubt, is a family far more yours than your Clan ever was. Breakfast is filled with laughter and warmth again, and Miko-Kiku has made sure there is plenty for everyone, even the nearly endless appetite of Yui. Akari has not only made Red Bean Jelly, she made it shaped like hearts laid out in a flower pattern. Six of them.

Your Pearl is subdued now, calm and warm within you, a heavy, potent force waiting for you to summon it forth. You're not quite sure what you would DO with it right now, but there are other things that must be done. And after a little more relaxation after breakfast, you get down to it.

[] Right, everyone stay calm. Except you, Akari, you panic. Kiki-hime doesn't know her powers.
[] Miko-Kiku, lets go save your girlfriend. Akari, Yui, guard duty. Kiki-hime, stay safe.
[] Akari, you go teach your tomboy basic surveillance and counter-surveillance. Kiku, you are with me training Kiki how to accidentally kill us all.
[] Kiku, help me through your Barrier then you, Akari, and Yui all have to help teach Kiki.
[] Akari, see what you can find out about Anonimous last claims and internet nonsense. Yui, you assist Kiku, and Kiku teach your sister some truths, she's clueless.

oh shit, I just realized!
We convinced yuis uncle, the full oni, to come back in 4 (3 now) days to have a proper duel in front of the kami and our two respective clans for yui!
This means that we only have 3 days before it is revealed that we have awoken horobi

... we need to come up with a plot to trick obasan into thinking we are now her pet destroyer. leashed and obedient
OR we need to appeal to the true dragon that manages her clan to call off that fight and let us keep her. (I think this is the better idea, as he was actually kind enough to take pity on her, and would be an excellent ally).

[X] Right, we got this covered.

“So, the bad news first.” Everyone looks at you solemnly. “I still don't get the one hand clapping thing.” You looks confused, but Akari and Kiki giggle madly, while Miko-Kiku rolls her yes, and of she wasn't dressed in her miko's robes, probably would have hit her head on the table. “That said, Kiki-hime has almost no idea of how to use her abilities as a Wood dragon.” Dead silence; yes, that's the sound of it. “I can only guess as to who is responsible, but the simple fact is she can only use her passive abilities, and only the most simple of those. Yes, you can panic now Akari.” Akari blinks at you mildly, while Yui giggles and Kiku glares at you.

Kiki, on the other hand bows over her hand. “Gomennasai.”

“So, I'm going to help Miko-Kiku save her Precious Person. She will be able to help us out quite a bit as well.” Yui grins broadly, and Kiki-hime is hiding a smile as well. “Right, fine, we all know I'm a soft person. Yui, Akari, Kiki-hime is your responsibility. No teaching her perverted things. That's my job. Instead teach her some basic things, and stand guard.”

“Ryu-chan!” Kiki is blushing even worse now, and her tail is thrashing. Oh, she really lost it on that one.

Akari blushing....and Yui is snickering.

“Stay here, where it's safe. See if you can't find out anything about what Anonimous is up to, Akari-niji-chan, if you get time. I don't think they'll be bothering us any longer, but I would like to be sure.”

“Yes, aniki.” You can't tell if she suspects, but then, no one else could tell either, so that's fine.

Miko-Kiku stands and and gestures to her room. Preceding her, you find she's turned a large cooking pot into a brazier, which has become a lively bed of coals. Incense and smoke fills the room, and you blink the stinging pain from your eyes. There are paper seals on each wall, and several on the ceiling and floor. She imperiously points at where she wants you to sit – notably, in front of the shrine made to you – and then picks up a stick with beads, ribbons, and paper charms attached to it. She also has a small bundle of willow sticks with shaved bark curls tied onto them with string, and Kiku places these around you one by one, until you are surrounded in a double octagon of them.

“The Burning Brightness of All Fires is one of my most powerful techniques. It is the final technique of Fire-and-Smoke. It is like that of your Water-and-Wind.” She touches her bejeweled stick to each of your shoulders, and to your hips, then to your horns, then to the top of your head. Kamuy Fuchi is the most important kamuy. She is the goddess of the hearth, the teacher of people, and the one who sits at the threshold. Our spirits wait at the hearth, to be reborn when we die, Ryuu Ryukusa.”

It must be serious, she didn't call you stupid. The incense is thick, and the smoke is becoming thicker. The spells on the papers must keep the smoke contained, and protect those in it. Then again, you are Water, and Kiku is Fire, so chances are neither of you would suffer from danger here.

Consider she herself, or one of her accomplices, weaved an extra spell into the barrier to prevent Kiku from shattering it herself, she'll know the barrier has been broken and Er Yin released. She's not stupid, and she want her power for herself.

Now, as whether she'll know we are the one to do it, she'll at least suspect it strongly. She knows a lot more about this situation than us, and she didn't remain head of a clan for at least two centuries by being stupid.

[X] Ask something relevant.

The incense is clearly drugged. Questions flit through you mind, things you must tell, things you must not tell. Truths and wonders and mysteries.

“Will Oba-san know Er Yin is freed?”

She looks at you over the brazier, her eyes glowing brightly, everything tinted blue except where her yellow eyes and your blue eyes burn in the thick, beautiful smoke. “No, Ryuu Ryukusa. The seal is a curse pleased upon me, so if it you who breaks the Barrier, the curse remains, but Er Yin Long is free.”

She closes her eyes, and then speaks. “I could not help my sister before. The demon-child was always too close, to wary. I prayed for help, for hope. I believe in this as an answer.” Apparently the compulsion affects her too.

The delicate dragon walks slowly around the fire, shaking the bejeweled stick at it, the paper making soft rattling noises. Her voice is a soft, soothing drone. “Er Yin Long serves Horobi, but Kamuy Fuchi is her patron. Like Kamuy Fuchi, she is a sorceress, and now dwells on the threshold. So now, as you go to her, know that you visit the representative of a goddess, in that goddess' place of power. Know also that you go as the child of a god, in a place weak to that god's power.”

The incense and smoke has left everything in a deep gray haze, and the soft, sweet voice is low and gentle, encouraging.

“Do not be afraid that you are blind, for in the Burning Brightness of All Fires, none can see.”

There is a soft rush and you fall backwards, your head spinning. Rather than stinking the floor your somersault over and the world explodes into white light and raw, searing heat. The weird, bubbling sensation of your Pearl intensifies, and you can feel the force that seems to have supplanted your left arm in a very real, palpable way. Like a cat you land lightly on your toes, and sink to a crouch, feeling quite blind. Blinking only turns the world into an equally intense red glare.

The sharply cadenced voice that comes from ahead of you speaks flawless Japanese, the Chinese accent being the source of her cadences.

“Do you know your name, pretty glass dragon?”

>>
>>33128954
>Maybe Ryuu Ryukusa, reincarnation of Horobi?
Daughter of Horobi is more accurate, I think.
>>
>>33129021

Nah, metaphysically, we are the reincarnation. We have some of Horobi's spirit and power, but not his knowledge and identity.

"Genetic" lineage is up in the air. Ryukusa's parents haven't really come up.
>>
>>33129037
We've repeatedly called ourselves his daughter though

>“Ami-no-Horobi-no-Mikado, Emperor of the Rain of Destruction, Lord of the Abyssal Deeps of the Ocean, give your daughter the strength to fight HIM.”
>Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado, help your daughter.
>>
>>33129021
but we are a reincarnation, not a daughter.
we have parents and neither was him

the reason we are a demigod rather then a full god is that he is DEAD and we don't have access to his full power and knowledge (yet). we haven't assumed his mantle (yet)
demi gods CAN potentially ascend to kami (or in this case kamuy) status, this is one of the thing they are known for doing. Although they are far more likely to die trying then they are to succeed in such an ascension process
Interestingly horobi is a dragon-god. So he was both a true dragon and a true god.
>>
>>33129053
We could use that here, yeah. Just not Ryukusa alone, I doubt that holds any weight here.
>>
>>33129053
figurative not literal daughter. when you prey to god you call yourself their child, child of god.
and that was our choice to pray to a dead god who happens to be ourself, heck we are even recalling his memories. literal children of gods don't have flashbacks to their parent's memories.
>>
“I know my names.” Wait, that came out wrong.

Crap. Fire reveals truth.

Right, more caution is called for! Cleverness and Dangerous Mind can save you here.

“May I hear your name?” Take that, lady. “After all, you know what name you wish to hear, so to ask it serves little purpose, honestly.”

“I am Er Yin Lung, daughter of Pan Lung and the woman who became the devil Mo Ku Jen, whose name I can no longer speak.” Her voice moves around you slowly, pacing in the same manner but opposite direction of Miko-Kiku. “May I have the name by which you are called, pretty glass dragon?”

Safe enough. “I am called Ryuu Ryukusa, daughter of Owatatsumi Ryujin and Ryuu Meiko.” Wait, your father's name was Gyukojin, a river Dragon.

…..

KAMIDAMNMIT!

….wait. She asked, you answered. You asked, she answered. You volunteered stuff, she didn't say anything. Question, answer, question answer, anything else is voluntary.

Right, Kiku is damn scary. Sticking to one question is probably safer, because if the trend follows....you ask more, she asks more, and you both get to answer more.

One major reason not to get too full of ourselves. we are not a true dragon-god kamuy yet; we just tapped into a tiny slice of those powers.

Also, if Horobi is like, the Ur-Dragon God, presumably on some level, lesser dragons come from him, and thus are his descendants. At the very least, the destruction god associated with the fuck-off depths of the ocean would be the progenitor of all Water dragonkind. Or something. (Again, Mythology is not an exact science. It's not even any kind of science)

As for the other thing, that refers to Ryukusa's literal parents. Since Horobi has been dead for untold aeons (by which I mean a few thousand years, probably) it would be very hard for him to have directly sired her.

Shit, I just realized, we're like dragongirl cthulhu. That is not dead which can eternal lie, and come strange aeons, even death may die.

Ryujin is the dragon god of the ocean. As in, we're directly descended from him and Horobi may have served him or he may have been Horobi before.

[XX] Tell me what you need to know. Hah, not a question.

You stay where you are, crouched, listening, feeling her moving around you. Ah, that works. You know exactly where she is now, feeling the flow of her blood and the presence of her water. “Do you want to return to your lover?”

“I desire to return to my lovers as once we were.” Oh, now that's something you hadn't planned for. She remembers what you caught glimpses of. Or at least knows about them. “Have you used the power of Horobi willingly?”

Shimmate. “Only in ignorance of what I was doing,” ugh, not good....wait. “and only in fear of causing worse than I wished upon the world did I do so.” Better. Experimenting to try and learn isn't strictly bad, right? And you really had no idea Anonimous was going to get...well.

“Tell me what you need to know.”

A soft, silver chuckle. “A clever, dangerous dragon indeed.” Nope, not going for it.

“What is it you really want to know?”

“I want to know if you are too dangerous to be allowed to live, Ryuu Ryukusa, or too weak to be allowed to suffer....or kind enough to be dangerous.” That....is kind of what you thought. “Do you love them all dearly?”

Based on the Glimpse of Hirobi's past, we know the connection of 3 of the 5, The Wife (Kiki), The Priestess (Kiku) and The Sorceror (Er Yin Lung)...
It was mentioned that Hirobi had Oni in his 5, so Yui might fit that role...
Akari should fit the 5th...

>The room was larger, circular. A high, domed ceiling, showing the moon and the sun chasing one another, the teardrops of Yin and Yang forever circling. There is no light, but none of you need it to see by, not really. The huge bed is warm. Your two heralds lie with their heads pillowed along your chest, their tails and hands entwined. Your seer is spooned against your priestess, your priestess' hand resting along your wife's back, the tail of your seer entwined with your own. [+] How do I get you out of here safely?

Deep, slow breath. Let the fires help you you instead of hinder you. You can handle this. This is just one more battlefield, one more war you can win.

“How can I get you out of here safely?”

“I am not the one in danger here, and I never have been; but only by convincing me you are truly Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado, with his love and kindness and his power can I let you leave here safely with me.” Did she just answer both aspects of the question? Not just how YOU could get her out, but how you AND she could get out SAFELY. That could be useful. “Did you make love to your wife first?”

“She is not my wife, but I made love to the one who holds her part of my Inari first.” So the fires compel truth even if you don't know the certainty itself. “Whom do you love most?”

“Matagama Kiku I love first and foremost, though I love them all, and I adore our Kamuy.” She pauses for a moment. “I have missed them all a great deal.” She has stopped, directly in front of you, about two feet away, A short step, or a long reach away. You can 'sense' her body perfectly. She has a REALLY long tail, and doesn't bother to 'hide' it. “You will suffer and take pain for them, but will you live for them even if they die around you?”

Oh, fuck. Well, there isn't a pressure to answer. Still....the answer is pretty obvious. “Yes, damn you, I'll live for them, but I'll destroy the world before I let one of them die. No one dies for me ever again.” Okay, wait, that was not what you meant to say at all.

But it is true, damn it.

“How are you helping me, in terms I understand?” That might help.
>>
>>33130161
“I am showing you the nature of who you once were, as best I can, without telling you that you are going to destroy the world because they will never let you be free as long as all of us smile for you.”

….yikes. Maybe a little TMI. No, wait, you can use that!

“Whom would you chose before all others that serve you?”

“Inari. I love them all, but I have not had the chance to be with them all, any more than you have.” Interesting. You have to tell truths, even when you don't know the truth, but if you haven't had experience with the truth, even in hearsay, then you have to admit ignorance.

But now it's your turn. “Who are they?” Not quite the same as who killed them all, but you get BOTH answers!

“In the past, Susano-Oh and Kinashut Kamuy the snake kamuy slew Horobi and Inari to take away his terrible power and protect Japan, but Kinashut tricked Susano-Oh; she stole Horobi's Pearl, and placed it in a sacred vessel. Kaga Ryo discovered the vessel and stole it from her. He then made a bargain with Kinashut Kamuy. If she taught him magic, he and his lineage would serve her forever. She told him, only if he would be her husband would she relinquish the power that could be gained. So, he wed her. She became Head of Clan Ryo, and he became Head of Clan Kaga. The Pearl of Horobi was lost to them, and swallowed by a woman, who was wooed by Ryujin. She gave birth to many daughters, and each one I have spoken to and been forced to kill to protect Inari. Kumatori Ichi saw the powers of Clan Ryo and Clan Kaga, and sought the powers they had for themselves, and those who learned the secrets of the mikoto such as us now come for the daughter of Kumatori Hojo.”

Um. Crap. Oba-san really IS a snake. A snake goddess, to be precise.

“If giving up the power of Horobi meant you could keep them safe, would you?”
>>
>>33130213

You stand up silently, and she does not move; you step forward, and her tail slowly coild around behind you, rising like a snake to strike. There's almost no blood in the end of it just a single thin set of veins and arteries. It must nearly be all scape or bone or....or metal. It doesn't matter how touch you are, that could hurt you badly.

You reach out and slowly run your fingers along her cheeks, feeling she smooth, soft skin, the cool metal scales. Her tail lowers slightly.

A huge part of the mythology this quest runs on is the concept of Mu. That is "the question is wrong". aka "check your premises".
When given a trick question, whether intentionally as a test or accidentally due to ignorance, the wise must recognize that the question is wrong and state as such, instead of merely going with a yes/no

Actually the answer should LITERALLY be "Mu" rather then yes/no/yes and no

[X] Duh. Stupid QM, what the hell?

You feel your Pearl pulse, and the fires burn more intensely, shimmering now, no longer undifferentiated whiteness. You could answer untruthfully, for this moment, this brief second.

But why the fuck would you do something stupid like that?

“If it meant they....no. Not they. If WE, they, me, ~you~, were safe, and could smile and love safely, free of them all....yes. Because I never promised to protect them as Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado. Not even once. Not even when they asked. I, Ryuu Ryukusa, protect you all because it is....” You can't help but smile. “It is my Zen.” All, everything, totality, the works.

You feel....wetness, along your fingertips. You can sense it, but the feel of it is what matters. Her tail slides around your legs, your waist, and her arms wrap about your shoulders, and she lays her head against yours....her horns are twisted stumps of metal, and the make a delicate, high pitched ringing sound against the sapphire of your hors.

Holy crap, she is a silver dragonette.

And she is crying. But not from sadness, or suffering, or despair.

“Take me home, please, Ryukusa-san....take me to my Precious Gem.”

“Hai, Er Yin.”

You lift your left hand....and squeeze.

Thanks for the thread, XS
>>
It was a trick question, yes. But it wasn't the trick people looked for.

>...yes. Because I never promised to protect them as Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado. Not even once.
>>
>>33130561
so the trick was whether we were really trying to protect them above all else
or whether we were merely trying to protect them in order to don the mantle of Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado to gain his powers?
>>
>>33130561

Aw, does this mean the first thing we say to Miko-Kiku when we get back shouldn't be "Sorry it took a while, but your prayer is answered"?
>>
>>33130496
Definitely a hell of a thread this time around. Thanks for running as always, XS!
>>
>>33130213
>She gave birth to many daughters, and each one I have spoken to and been forced to kill to protect Inari.
Where did they fuck up in her little question and answer game?
>>
>>33130496
>She gave birth to many daughters
wait... ALL of the horobi's reincarnations were female?
I was working under the assumption that horobi was a male (since he was referred to as a dragon god not a draongess/goddess). but that is quite a big trend for all the other reincarnations to have been female as well.

... also, interesting that there were multiple failures to reincarnate. all the more reason to keep our head firmly grounded and not be too sure of our chosen one status. we can still easily get killed and have a future reincarnation take our place instead.
>>

>>33130589
The trick was that you promised them as Ryukusa, never planning on using that power. The power of Horobi wasn't what was going to keep them safe in any case.

Every time it came up, it was always "Ryuu Ryukusa" who would protect them, even when Kiki directly asked for you to use Horobi's power.

>>33130641
Varied by person. some were too kind and not strong enough, others too focused on destruction. Ryuu Ryuykusa just tried to cope with what she was given, and promised on her own name and with herself alone to protect them, regardless of whatever powers she gained.
>>
>>33130496
thank you XS.
this was good.
>>
>>33130712

We need to remember to ask Er Yin if she can repair Akari's mask next thread.

Thanks for running, great thread as usual!
>>
>>33130641
I'm concerned with whether there are still more of Ryukusa's sisters/potential vessels for Horobi/Horobispawn still in Clan Ryo's clutches that we might have to fight if we don't do this right.
>>
>>33130591
I think she'd cry.

>>33130699
Interesting trend, hmn? Well, you have the person to ask now.
>>
>>33130737
>We need to remember to ask Er Yin if she can repair Akari's mask next thread.
What's that mask even do?
>>
>>33130742
Meaningless - only one soul per vessel, only one vessel per soul.

Unless you're talking youkai, in which case all bets are off.

>>33130737
Miko-Kiku said Er Yin can enchant it, and Kiki-hime can repair it, or at least make something new.
>>
>>33130561
Actually, a couple of people got that. Kinda.
>>
>>33130785
Several people know - you'll need to ask them. But you have a slew of other questions too....so in time you'll know.
>>
>>33130840
what would have happened if we answered mu?
>>
>>33130742
>>33130795

More pressing matter is that we might want to recover Horobi's pearl at some point, if its still in there and literal.

>Miko-Kiku said Er Yin can enchant it, and Kiki-hime can repair it, or at least make something new.

Great, a community project. Kiki can practice, Er Yin can stretch her magic muscles after 100 years, Akari gets something new.
>>
>>33130795
>Miko-Kiku said Er Yin can enchant it, and Kiki-hime can repair it, or at least make something new.

Yes, I know. We just need to remember the trivial thing to actually ASK! We baka-players tend to forget such things!
>>
i wish i had a ryukusa protecting me
>>
>>33130873
She would have waited for an answer, since "nothing" isn't an answer to the question she asked.

The answer truly rested in Ryukusa's promise on her own name and her own power. that's why the question of Ryukusa being Horobi came up so often.
>>
>>33130896
>More pressing matter is that we might want to recover Horobi's pearl at some point, if its still in there and literal.
supposedly our mother ATE it. if it was recoverable then obasan would have torn it out of her body already.
>>
>>33130909
I wish I was ryukusa with all those wonderful inari to protect
>>
>>33130896
What makes you think you haven't?

>>33130901
Kiki won't, you already asked her, and Kiku has all the pieces.
>>
>>33130942
What would have happened if we had embraced being Horobi and promised things in its name? Would be bad end here?
>>
>>33130996
I did emphasize very strongly Barrier Combat is dangerous. but then again, it's Ryuu Ryukusa - she's surprised me before.

It could have gone many ways, but yes, bad end was a distinct possibility.

With that hour longer than I planned, I bid a good night. I don't know when the write up will be done or next thread will be just yet.

Thank you for enjoying.
>>
>>33131066

Good night, XS, and thanks again for running!
>>
>>33131042
I kind of wish that had happened. As it was, we were such a good girl that this supposedly dangerous task was anti-climactic.
>>
>>33130752
>I think she'd cry.
Then I hope that's an option next thread. Kiku deserves a good cry after being brave for so long.
>>
>>33131066
Thanks for running!
>>
>>33131206
There's no way she's not going to cry as Silver drapes her too-long tail around her no matter what we say.

Are silver dragons rare or something? Ryuukusa seemed to think it was weird.
>>
>>33131206

That, and a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong moment alone with her! They've got some serious catching-up to do!
>>
>>33131261
What was it like being stuck in my barrier for 100 years?

I couldn't see.

Oh.
>>
>>33131240
Japanese don't associate the Void with Metal, that's a Chinese thing. Also she knows Kiku calls Er Yin "Gin-Gin" which means Silver Silver, as in the metal.
>>
>>33131147

Getting out might prove harder than 'punch the barrier with our left fist'....

Though, we do need to work out a training regime for everyone... We need to ensure Kiki learns about her abilities and how to use and control them... we have to ensure that Yui gets access to more spells... we need to find a way to remove the seal on Kiku to give her access to her top level abilities... Then we have to get Akari's mask sorted.... Not sure what we'd need to do for Yi once we've broken the barrier...
Then for ourselves, we need to learn about Horobi, learn about our advanced powers, learn to control our advanced powers, Prepare for our fight with Yui's uncle(s) in 3 days... Not to mention our Hit-list targets, establishing a new private safe-house (as Clan Ryo is liable to know about this one, even if they don't know which one we are using...)

Lots of things to do with not much time to do them in...

>>33131066
Night XS, It has been a pleasure as always.
>>
>>33131354
>Training regime
SQUATS AND OATS (And occasionally Red Bean Jelly)
No cardio (Kills gains)
No forgetting leg day.
>>
Oooooooh, I just realized why Oba-chan had it out for Kiku: She must have realized she was Inari.
>>
>>33131308
>What was it like being stuck in my barrier for 100 years?
>The fire was so bright it was blinding
>...
FTFY
>>
>>33131308
Ironically, she was blind before she went into the barrier.
>>
>>33131308
As an honest to god Seer, she could probably see further in the barrier than ever.
>>
>>33131354
>Prepare for our fight with Yui's uncle(s) in 3 days
I still think we should negotiate with her clan's dragon to just avoid that fight entirely.
Also, earlier someone answered that suggestion with "we can convince him to not tell on us". I am more worried about witness representatives of the clans.

>establishing a new private safe-house (as Clan Ryo is liable to know about this one,
This safehouse has already been compromised by anonymous. We killed 3 of them who were spying on us here and their friends might have gotten back at us by publishing our location
>>
Oh shit.

Ryujin only has daughters because his son became the first Emperor of Japan.
>>
>>33131471
explain further, i am not getting the significance

Also... is mom (person who ate horobi's peal) imprisoned by obasan and forced to birth new candidates for attempted leashing on a regular basis??
is ryujin working with her for that purpose?
>>
>>33131542
If Ryukusa was a boy she would be the Emperor of Japan by default and divine mandate.

That's why her mother only has daughters. And most likely Oba-san wouldn't try and cross Ryujin. Then again, maybe Ryujin has baby girls hoping for a Ryukusa who will kick Oba-san's snakey ass.
>>
>>33131631
Maybe he just likes fucking.
>>
>>33131631
>If Ryukusa was a boy she would be the Emperor of Japan by default and divine mandate.
so what? how would that impede oba's plot of getting a leashed horobi?
>>
>>33131762
As opposed to ruling all of Japan?
>>
>>33131762
No lillies would be involved, which means no story.
