Previous Thread: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/33120111/

Towards the end of the last thread, I began to express my concern that you guys were taking MC in a dangerous direction. One or two people misunderstood this concern and thought I was whinging because you werent playing the character 'I' wanted you to. It eventually culminated in me telling some cunt to eat shit and for that I am sorry. My aggressive response stemmed from my inability to properly express my concern which is simple and thus: If you guys make decisions that force me into a corner where I have to choose between killing the MC or seriously altering the psyche/storyline/significant setting of the world then the MC will die and Warframe Quest will end. I will not pull QM fiat at out of my ass to pull yours off a fire you set yourself.

For Example, [I use this example a lot because its easy to explain]: If you decide to kill a Tenno in front of another Tenno for shitty reasons, that Tenno will either: Kill you or attempt to escape to warn the rest of the Tenno race that you need to die. If you fail to kill the Tenno, you will die. It might not happen immediately but you will die.

You sit, once more, in formal meditation in the depths of a verdant, vibrant jungle. Huge, thick trees, half again as tall as the highest building you ever seen and easily as thick of not thicker, surround you in all directions. Gigantic roots creep out from beneath the trees and hide the earthy ground from sight, you are sitting in one of the few clear patches of land available, with the warm rays of the sun beating down upon your silverworked torso. Too one side stands Ashara, she is clearly speaking in silent communication to someone you cannot see and she punctuates her words with violent gestures of her hand. Clearly, she is not happy with how the conversation is going. To the other side stands the four younglings, joking and talking amongst themselves as they wait for Ashara.
>>
>>33136157
The youngling who lost his Sister is amongst them and is the loudest in the conversation, telling the most jokes, jumping on every chance he gets to speak without breaking decorum. For some reason, this does not surprise you; another memory seems to surface vaguely to the top of your subconscious and you feel a sharp pang of pain pierce your heart. Shaking your head, you caress the hilt of Anima, her comforting prescence serves to dispel the pain and the memory fades. You aren't sure wether you want to face that particular memory yet, but you know that soon enough it will return to you whether bidden to or not. The corpse of the Tenno operative lies restfully in the center of you all, her hands still clasp the hilt of her blade and she seems at peace. You feel restless, the desire to do something overcomes you.

Meditate, clear your mind

Also, it's fine. Just keep in mind that an honorable unaffiliated could. Still be fun to play. Sort of like Riddick, but without the massive bounty and actually having some kinda goal.

Lets take some time to figure our past a little more

Slowly, you master your feeling of restlessness and force yourself into a deep meditation. Breathing deeply and slowly, you use basic breathing exercises to steady your heart until it feels as though you have stopped breathing entirely. Your heart slows to an occassional bump and you feel your body 'turn off', the sounds of conversation and occassional laughter from the younglings fade, they are but noises in the background of the world. Your vision clouds even though your eyes open and soon you see nothing but darkness. Within that darkness there is a single golden light, you reach out pierce it with hand and suddenly you are high in the sky. You are the wind whirling through the clouds, you are roots of the trees burrowing through ancient rock and providing homes for thousands of insects. You are the hunted animal and you are the hunter. You are one with the world and one with yourself.

You have achieved Zen: Meditate before large battles to achieve Zen, this will cause your mind to still and your actions to sharpen.[If you have achieved Zen before a battle, Crit one roll of your choice.]

You feel a firm hand shaking you out of your reverie, it is Ashara, motioning you to stand and join her at the younglings. Soon enough you stand in a group near the deceased Tenno and Ashara relays the situation aloud for your benefit.

"The Lotus refused to patch me into our Clan... she has rerouted a single Red Veil evacuation ship to our position for Emaria and two honour guards, that is all she says she can do for us. The rest of us will have to find our own wait now." Here she paused but continued sharply and angrily. "However, the Lotus has 'provided' a separate way off this planet. We will have to infiltrate Kog'gul and steal a ship." The younglings stiffen, in anger, horror or exasperation you could not say. "Of course, if we could assassinate the commander and sabotage the bases reactor on our way through, the Lotus would see her way clear to compensate us."
>>
>>33136860
>Crit one roll of your choice
That's really powerful.
Would using that negate a critfail?
>>
>>33136860
Ashara noticed their tense reactions and you simply knew she was smiling mirthlessly under her helm. "If you'll recall, our Clan refused to accept this mission when Lotus originally demanded our aid. It seems she has found a way to get around our refusal. Kog'gul is only a half days travel from here as the crow flies, we will be moving out immediately." As she stopped talking she flicked her towards two of the younglings and they moved to kneel next to the deceased Tenno, those old memories of yours surface long enough to tell you that this an Honour Guard for the deceased. Another pang of pain explodes through your chest as a single memory suddenly becomes vivid in your mind, hundreds of Tenno kneeling all around you as you place a Blade of Reverence on top of the chest of a Tenno, it nestles between her breasts and as you take a step backwards the wailing begins, the Tenno all around you raising their voices in a worldess cry of despair. You feel as one with their pain, the Dark Ones had won a great victory but you must now lead the Clan to Victory at the Battle of Shi-ai, the fighting would be hard but you had fa- suddenly you shake your head violently as you clear the memory from your mind and the terrible pains fades from your heart. You could not remember the face of the Tenno, nor do you believe you want to. Once again shaking your head you realise you had stopped moving and the other Tenno had forged ahead of you, you rush to take your place as the second in the column as Tenno custom dictates. A guest to a Clan is given marked respect and placed above younglings. Though they cannot command anyone they cannot be commanded either.

Quickly retaking your position you pull up alongside Ashara.

It'll only happen once per thread and critting a roll wont mean instant win, just a large power increase.

If you critfail, it will cancel out Zen due to discordance of the soul at failing the roll. The highest roll will then be used. If there are two critfails then the critfail succeeds.

If there is a crit and two critfails and Zen is active all four will be cancelled out and the fourth roll be used.

What do you know of the Battle of Shi-Ai
>>
>>33137089
>What is Kog'gul?

>>33137121
You move a bit faster and stand side by side with Ashara, she glances at you and you both leap in unison from root to another, the jump was easily ten metres wide with a drop of five metres. You both land gracefully and roll with the momentum, you come up and wait for the younglings to catch up. Taking this chance to ask some questions you manage to whisper out
"What... is Kog'gul?" You ask, your voice slowly returning to its usual strength, losing its straw like sound and becoming stronger and deeper. Ashara turns to you and cocks her head, her voice is, as usual, soft velvet caressing an ocean wave.
"Kog'gul... I keep forgetting you are fresh Awakened." She glances back at the ravine the two of you leaped, undoubtedly thinking back to what Yayne said regarding the weakness of fresh Awakened. You feel slightly uncomfortable under her scrutiny, you could what you could do, why question it?
"Kog'gul is the Grineer base of operations in this Sector on Earth. It acts as administrative and military hub for the sector, it can house upwards of three thousand Grineer soldiers comfortably at any time, much, much more in a pinch. It is ten by ten by two kilometres. The comanding officer is General Rakka'tar, he has no real desire to hunt Tenno and marshals his forces against the Corpus in an all out war for dominance Earth. That is the reason we refused to accept the assassination contract, if the Grineer and Corpus grind themselves to dust against each, all the better for us." Ashara had nearly finished speaking and then added, "Where we want to go is at the top of the central tower where the Grineer house their space capable ships." As she finished speaking the other two younglings thud down beside you both and you all move off together. You notice that the grieving youngling is with you and you are once again not surprised at the fact he did not wish to remain behind as the Honour Guard for his sister.
>>
>>33137379
Wait. I thought that earth was the homeworld of the Grineer empire. It seems far fetched for me that the Corpus can establish a foothold on it at all.
>>
>>33137379
That same memory of pain and loss surfaces to the fore to bump against your subconscious again and you tear it back down into the dark recesses of your mind, you refuse to face it right now. Glancing again at the youngling you see he stands tall and proud, with slight lines of anger evident throughout him, body quivering with the desire for action. You nod to yourself in satisfaction, you know in his place you would be the same.

Catching back up to Ashara as you all leap and run through the jungle you call out to her.
"The Grineer?" You ask mid flight, landing on the trunk of a tree and flipping off it to land at its roots in front of her, she runs past as she answers you.
"Old Earth civilisation, humans, like the Corpus, who were corrupted by the filth and toxic fumes that they live in constantly. Their skin is cracked and old and ugly and as such they place little power in physical attraction. They see raw power, physical strength and command as attractive traits. They are dangerous in groups but get one alone and they fall easily, be wary though, there are some amongst them who are are true warriors." The memory of the tense fight above her duel back at the Orokin Spire is a testament to the Grineer's tenacity, you realize underestimating the Grineer would be foolish thing to do.
"They favour long distance and rely on the strength of their guns though there are a rare few who dedicate themselves to melee on the off chance of fighting one of us, those are dangerous." Ashara finished, she cared little for their culture only the strength of their militant factions and traits.

As you all continue to leap through the jungle, jumping from branch to branch, flipping through vines, you call out to her.
"Do you know anything of......the Battle of Shi-Ai?" You see her shrug her shoulders mid flip, hands out by her side, graceful even while doing something mundane as shrugging. She responds curtly and quietly,
"Never heard of it."
>>
>>33137437
I meant to say it so it went along the lines
"Rakka'tar focuses his forces on fighting the Corpus, anywhere he can, he wants to ensure the security of Earth by taking the fight to the Corpus wherever they appear." Rakka'tar isnt THE General of all Grineer, each Sector has a General and over all of them is Grineer High Command. There are dozens and dozens of Sectors. Remember the Grineer are militant as fuck and see raw military might as attractive so of course they are going to name military men to administrator positions.

Fair?
>>
>>33137596
"Are you...and the Lightning Claw... Enemies?" You ask, slightly anxious at her response. Your question brings her up short and she looks at incredulously, her normally quiet and soft voice rises loudly.
"What? Never! Tenno against Tenno?" She asks, horror at this idea evident through her voice. "Thats madness only a Grineer would countenance. We may question their ideas and direction and we might have loud, angry debates but it would never come to drawing blood." She tosses her head angrily and continues on her way. "Never!" She says as she launches herself further into the jungle. You realise that you can smell smoke-stacks and corruption, you must be very near to Kog'gul.

Once again you have to catch up to Ashara through the thick undergrowth and as you catch up to her you quietly ask of her. "Who is the Lotus?"

The question seems to catch her off guard and she pauses a moment as she considers her response.
"You'll find out soon enough." She says.

Not knowing how to respond to this, you simply stay silent and within moments the four of you arrive at plateau, before you stretches the immense fortress. It undoubtedly would seem a daunting task to any invading force. To four determined Tenno, the high walls, patrols and automated sentries were a challenge to be viewed, defeated and discarded.
The four of you squat on the root plateau and gaze at the complex. The walls were high, but scaleable and with your keen suit enhanced eyesight you could see and memorise the patrols on top of the wall. You could not, however, see beyond the walls to the grounds below. In the distance, almost two kilometres away stands Kog'Gul's central hub, a massive complex of dark metal and dirty stone, sharp as well as curved architecture thrown together in a mix that would curl the stomach of any Tenno Artisan in disgust. Smokestacks dotted the roofing of the massive buildings and spewed forth filthy clouds of toxic gases and smoke.

Looking down you see what appears to be a drainage system, piping filth and excrement into the jungle marshes below, the grate was rusted and had fallen partly off the pipe itself. It could be an easy way in, though filthy.

Undoubtedly there was a main entrance to the complex somewhere with guard posts and heavy patrols.

You look at Ashara and she returns your gaze awaiting your input, you are, after all, part of this team. For now, at least.

>?
>>
>>33138413
Lets keep ourselves stealthy, take to the sewers and slowly advance. More then likely they would have some sort of defence in there.
>>
The longer we avoid battle, the better. Take the pipe.
>>
>>33138526
>>33138559
You simply gesture towards the pipe and Ashara nods in satisfaction. The two younglings don't seem happy yet you and Ashara know that as they progress deeper into the old Way they will understand that the needless spilling of blood is wrong, inefficient and detracts from Tenno decorum. Together, the four of you launch yourself from the plateau and head towards the Pipe. Ashara warns you to expect some form of booby-trap inside and that the Grineer are not stupid, though lazy in most regards of maintenance and personal hygiene they take to military discipline with great sharpness.

Soon enough, you arrive at the pipe, flipping yourselves up and into its dark confines. The rush of sewerage and the dank smell are deadened by your Warframes' sensors and the four of you forge your way deeper into Kog'gul, utterly unaware of what awaits in the dark.

I'm liking it so far, personally some more roll worthy situations might be cool to make things more interesting. Along with seeing a varied amount of Teno and their different suits.

Might also be cool for one of them being a honorable, but over the top Oberon later down the quest.

The sewerage pipe stretches on and on and slightly upwards as you and your allies progress deeper. Your walk stretches on and time passess slowly, you count your steps and get to 1215 before the tunnel opens out and you finally come to what appears to be some kind of distilling station. You manage to get a brief glimpse of heavy machinery clunking and banging loudly in the tight confines of open room, there are metal-grated walkways above you and directly in front of you is a sea of sewerage. You have no idea how deep it is and you have no desire to find out, suddenly you hear a rythmic sound clunking out above you, it is the sound heavy footsteps on the walkways above approaching your position. You whirl around, motioning your allies to move backwards and you move to a position that must be unseeable from above. Listening to the footstep you hear pass your position and slowly fade away. You look at Ashara and she nods, gesturing for you to lead the way. You walk back to the edge of the tunnel and see that the metal grating would easily support your weight, gathering your strength beneath you leap upwards and clutch the side of the walkway. You hang there limply, quietly waiting and trying to discern how pairs of feet there when you hear footsteps approaching you, you have a split second to decide on your course of action. This Grineer must be eliminated for the Tenno to move past this room and deeper into the bowels of Kog'gul.

Decide how you want to remove this Grineer, roll 1d100.

As the Grineer Lancer reaches you, you release one hand to motion to the Tenno beyond you to stay back. As the Grineer passes you, you heave yourself up onto the railing. However, you did not take into account the rusted nature of walkways guard rails, as you reach the top of your pull, the guardrail gives with with a terrible screech of metal tearing from metal. Luckily you still manage to pull yourself up and land poorly on the walkway itself, however the screech of metal had alerted the guard, he is now whirling to face you, rifle coming up to fire. He is only a step away from you and you can close the distance easily and turn it into a contest of strength or you can quickdraw you Anima and cut him in half before he turns fully

Well actually I wrote that part before seeing there was a second post, it was supposed to be an extreme failure.

The way im going to do it is if you roll perfectly the first on some occassions then the fight ends almost instantly with you the victor. If you botch the roll then the fight continues as the Grineer gets a proper chance to fight, there is a huge skill difference between Tenno and Grineer and it requires multiple failures on your part to die to a single lancer.
>>
>>33140690
>>33140669
>>33140648
You're hand whips toward Anima and you take a step forward as you fall into an old, familiar stance, Diving Hawk: An aggressive drawing stance for two handed blades to facilitate the ease of draw and allow for instant aggression.

The Grineer turns only partly before your blade slices him neatly in two, the other Tenno join you and you feel their eyes upon you, weighing you. You are glad you did not let this singular Lancer get the best of you as that would have severely lowered your status in their eyes.

Glancing around you are surprised to see that this was the only Lancer at the station, from what you knew of the Grineer they were very strict militants and this was a glaring hole in their defensive posture. Saying as much to Ashara, she shook her head as well and agreed that it was suspiscious.

There are two paths before you, you can follow a staircase leading upwards into the very perimeter of Kog'gul itself or try to follow the outflow pipe that connects this purifier station with the inner area of Kog'gul.
