Welcome ladies and gentlemen to another edition of Succubus Lord Quest! One where I hopefully have no fucking connection issues this time!

In fact, let’s assume if I don’t post for more than hour, assume it’s connection troubles.

Last time on Succubus Lord Quest, we had a brief but successful run at impersonating the Draugr and framing the vampires of the city. Then it was all about the meeting we went to have with the Succubi Leaders. Surprises we had, such as Aria and Lita being the Gemelli leaders while Beck didn’t even bother showing up, only putting up an Ambassador in her place, Yuri Olga. Plans for the Succubi village were a bit bumpy at first, but were then eventually smoothed out...

That is until a Pride Demon Force led by one of the five Demonic Generals in charge of attacking Earth appeared at the meeting with a squad of Pride Demon Knights and dozens of demonic footsoldiers, then everything went to shit. The Demonic General, Dis, did fairly well to prove himself to win a battle against both Fredika and Ishtar by use of impeccable swordsmanship.

And we now continue what should’ve been finished last week if not for my connection!

Also the second post was an ugly post with lots of eyesore text, which is now all compiled here!

If there ever was a time to break out all the stops, now would be the time. Erika, start relaying the plans of what I’m thinking to Arum.

(“Brooklyn! You’re actually going to fight that thing!?”) Erika asks in confusion.

No, I’m going to do my best to slow him down! Just work on getting as many people as we can out of here!

You begin to use darkness tentacles to pull Mary up towards Alex in the vent, all while concentrating on Dis himself personally. More Envy demons try their best to attack, but Erika is doing her best to fend them off for the time being.

“...There!” Dis seems to say, pointing an open palm towards Erika the very instant he sees a spark from one of her parries.

Immediately you throw in your best in order to countermagic his light with your darkness, forcing a rather large explosion right in front of Dis’s face, blowing him back at least several meters and into the rear wall.

“Lord Dis!” One of the knights calls out.

“Yea yea I’m fine, just shaken. That’s what I get for not throwing everything into my attack.” Dis says as he gets up from the wall, the arm where he tried to use the light spell smoking.

As he gets up, your eyes dart over the rest of the battlefield quickly. Litaria is no where to be seen and the Miyian Embassador is quickly being overwhelmed by the Envy demon, her large ranged weapons only seeming to get in the way as she attempts to backpedal and fire on the invisible scouts. Arum is busy peeling the blade out of Ishtar, whom promptly grabs her once she’s about to collapse to the floor.

“It just means I need to something harder to counterspell.” Dis says as he holds open both of his hands. Spheres of brightly glowing darkness begin to form in his hands, aimed at your general area.

Oh piss he also knows Annihilator sphere magic.
>>
>>33163718

Oh yes, this is a prompt to act on your turn. Forgot to mention as I've heard some people say they're confused of when they should act.
>>
>>33163718
Simply toss a bit of light or dark into the center. It will expload outward, mixing with the outer shell causing yet more explosions
>>
>>33163718
Yeah, try to disrupt it by chucking some light or dark in there.
Make it blow up in his face
>>
>>33163844
Counterspell as quickly as we can with light and dark. He's going full force this time, so we can't expect huge results here. Hopefully the shatter will hinder him enough that we can get out of here. I'm also guessing that Fredrika is gone as well?
>>

As the orbs are charging up, you quickly throw in some dark matter inside of the orbs in Dis’s hands. As expected, they explode within his hands, but this time he seemed prepared. Even through the smoke you can see him now generating more and more orbs all around him before launching them all at your location, a small grin across Dis’s bloodied lip as he points his finger towards your general area.

You throw up your space shield in order to deflect some of the blasts, but the entire area is filled explosions. One of the blasts hits you directly, sending you flying back onto another one of the rafters. You can feel Erika’s psychic powers stopping you from falling over the ledge, and rather roughly put yourself back up onto the ledge.

“Son of a bitch baited me.” you mutter as you stand up. Your dress is now tattered in front due to the blast, but thankfully a mix of your light and dark resistances and your space magic reality warping made what was a steel splitting blast into what felt like a punch to the gut.

As you look through the area, you can see Arum passing up a wounded Ishtar into the grate above to Alex. Erika hurries on over to you carefully, much of the rafters now collasping down into the room.

“Brooklyn! We need to go!” Erika warns you, using her psychic force to push away an unseen opponent.

“Not without the leaders!” You reply back.

“If we stay here any longer we’re going to end up joining them!” Erika shouts back to you.

Looking down below, you can see that the only remaining ‘leader’ left is the Miyian Ambassador, Yuri, who is quickly being swarmed by both Pride Demon Knights and Envy demons.

With her free hand, Yuri can be seen reaching into her coat. “I’LL TAKE YOU ALL TO THE UNDERWORLD WITH ME!” Looking down, you can see what appears to be a pin on the side of her finger.

A device then digitizes directly in the center of the room, a bright pink large lump of metal easily the size of a man and with a cartoonish face of Yuri herself on it. You’re not sure what it is, but the large number counting down from 10 isn’t a good sign.
>>
>>33164485
Well, time to get out.
>>
>>33164485
Shadow teleport her with us up the grate if we can. Otherwise, we need to beat feet.
>>
>>33164520
>Able to jump between shadows that are within visual range
Can we actually bring someone with us through that? I actually don't know.
>>
>>33164558
My interpretation is that we can. We've advanced several levels since we learned it, so dragging someone along with us could be possible. It's as simple as reaching into the shadows, grabbing her, then pulling both of us to another set of shadows.
>>
[1/2]

You quickly attempt to reach down for Yuri before you leave, wrapping a cloak of darkness around your hand to try and drag her through, but you can only feel the darkness that you were melding into shatter like glass in front of you. Looking down, you can only see a twisted smile on Dis before he flips you the middle finger.

“Son of a bitch!” you roar as you immediately make a bolt to the vent shaft, climbing up inside of it with Erika coming in up after you.

You begin crawling as fast as you can, which is a bit slow with a heavily wounded Aide in front of you. Erika seems to kick an invisible opponent out of the shaft just as Arum begins to ice up the shaft about a second later.

Seconds later, a massive explosion seems to rock the entire shaft. You feel hot for a fraction of a second before it becomes ice cold. You quickly continue to move until you and your group reach what appears to be the end of the shaft, collapsing into the sewers.

“What the hell was that!?” you demand, hopping down from the sewer.

“An ambush, we were caught with our trousers down.” Erika replies putting her blade back into the scabbard on her back.

“Brooklyn, did you tell anyone else about the meeting location?” Arum asks as she comes out of the vent, landing on a block of ice in the sewer water.

“No! The only other person who knew was Wilhelmina, who told me in the first place!” you exclaim. “...And Alex why the HELL are you here!?”

“Because Wilhelmina was the one who tipped them off.” Alex says scooping up Ishtar in his arms.

“What!?” you exclaim.

“She broke down when I went to visit her with a food basket, crying about how sorry she was and how she couldn’t bare to face you. She told me the location of the meeting and I came here as quickly as I could.” Alex says looking at Ishtar. “...It’s bad, but I think she’ll live.”

“W-Why would Wilhelmina do such a thing!?” Erika exclaims.

“How could we’ve seen this co-” You stop as you remember that one night in the bar. The Succubus Fortune teller, about a close friend of yours being the cause of a deep betrayal.

“OH SON OF A BITCH!” you roar, slamming your fist into a nearby wall.

“...Brooklyn please, fortune tellings are often like that. I-I mean who knew it could’ve meant something like this!” Erika exclaims.

"...If I just put a bit more energy into that shadow step spell..." you mutter.

"Brooklyn, don't do that. We all did our best and we were blindsided. If anything I'm happy that the Miyian was captured, it means I don't have to put up with their bullshit when I go about executing the village plan." Arum states as she picks up Mary.

"Yeah, but you don't have to deal with the university head, who may or may not be building a superweapon. If she is, and the pride demons find out..."

This seems a bit strange to me.

"Please, let me deal with Wilhelmina." we need to know why she did it, we need to understand.

Just because Succubi don't need physical food doesn't mean they can't enjoy it.

Alex just thought she'd be cheered up with a gift basket of sorts.

"If the Miyian was captured and broken they would know about the location of the village and our plans. Even without that I don't wish for relations to sour with the Myrians even more than they already are. “ you reply. “I’ll deal with Wilhelmina, I want to find out why she decided letting others know of the meeting place was a good idea.”

“I’ll take Mary back to the Library.” Arum replies.

“I’ll take madam Ishtar back over to the church in order for her to have some proper care.” Alex replies.

“Erika, head back to our home and see if any authorities are combing over the place.” you tell Erika as you Soligram yourself up some fresh clothes.

“Will you be fine by yourself Brooklyn?” Erika asks.

“I’ll be fine.” you say changing yourself to appear as Sara. “Just go and see if our home is still safe to actually be in!”

******

You walk on over to Wilhelmina’s house in a hurry, shuffling through the busy streets in order to reach her apartment complex proper. After you reach her location, you bang on the door so loud that nearly the entire hallway can hear.

“Wilhelmina! We need to talk!” you yell out at the door.

Silence. Only deafening silence.

Not willing to put up with Wilhelmina’s silent treatment any more, you use your space magic to scry what’s on the other end of the door. Looking into Wilhelmina’s room, you can’t see her anywhere.

You summon up your darkness tentacles to rip the doorknob off then toss the door aside, frame and all. Heading into Wilhelmina’s room, you can see what appears to be a gift basket of berries on the table next to a letter. A quick glance at Wilhelmina’s family shrine shows that her cherish sword, literally something you’ve never seen her without, is shattered into pieces upon the altar.

Using your darkness tentacles to open the letter, you quickly open it up and begin to read it.

“No no no NO NO!” You say as you throw the letter aside, not wanting to read the rest. You grab a piece of Wilhelmina’s blade and use it as a focus to locate her with your scrying magic. The view that you see shows Wilhelmina at the top of the apartment building, slowly beginning to walk towards the edge.

You quickly jump out the window of Wilhelmina’s apartment, taking out your wings and flying up to the top of the building as fast as you can. Praying you’ll be able to make it in time.

You make it to the top of the building just as Wilhelmina has her foot on the last step of the building. “Wilhelmina!” you yell out at her.

Wilhelmina looks up at you, tears in her eyes as clothing derived like the emotional wreck that she is. “Brooklyn... I... I don’t even have the tools needed to do the ritual suicide of my people... So now I’m... I’m forced to do this...” Wilhelmina sobs.

“No, you’re going to step away from that ledge and tell me just what the hell is going on here.” you reply to Wilhelmina.

“My life is over, that’s what’s going on...” Wilhelmina mutters.

“Then how the hell did this happen!? What events led up to this conclusion!?” you yell back at Wilhelmina.

Wilhelmina doesn’t look at you, rather she continues to stare at the ground as she begins to recite her story. “It all began a few nights ago...”

******

“Hm... I wonder if I should ask Brooklyn if I can move in with her.” Wilhelmina thinks aloud as she walks back to apartment late at night, not exactly happy with her current arrangements, but then again the only thing she uses her apartment for is for sleeping and her family shrine.

Just as she turns around a corner, she can see two Pride Demon knights in light blue armour, hands in front of her face as they stop her. “Excuse me Miss, you have been selected for a random questioning.”

“Confused, Questioning.” Wilhelmina asks, her pulse not noticeably quickening.

“Yes, by order of Lord Dio, individual peasants are now subject to random questioning in order to improve the safety of everyone within the city of Old TO.” One knight replies.

“This way please ma’am.” One of the Pride Demon’s says as he turns around while another walks around the back of Wilhelmina.

Wilhelmina swallows lightly as she hears the Pride Demons ask. But everything’s OK... You’re an Okarian who can maintain her poker face and even other Succubi have trouble telling your emotions at face value. Just tell them what they want, and lie about things that are too important to discuss. Everything will be fine.

“Is this pipsqueak the only one you could find?” a rather crude voice asks within the darkness of the alleyway.

“Forgive us General Dis, but she appeared to be the most docile of the native Okarians within this area.” a knight nearby replies.

Wilhelmina’s eyes grow wide with shock and fear. Praying that she misheard their voices. But she can only tremble at the knees as the soft clops of hooves comes out of the darkness ahead. A figure that seems to literally tower over her in pitch black armour with white trimmings. Black hair along with dark brown eyes that seem to literally burn with a force Wilhelmina can only describe as pure evil. Most of Wilhelmina’s power is now focused down below in order to stop her legs from quivering and pissing herself at the same time.

“Good evening General Dis.” Wilhelmina curtly replies.

Dis sighs as he hears Wilhelmina talk. “Okarians... Damnit I may as well talk to a dead fish. At least they have a few prongs of life left in them.”

“Apologetic, I’m sorry that you need to speak to someone such as myself.” Wilhelmina replies.

“No no no no. You see, one thing I learned about Okarian’s is that they all tend to show... certain emotions with pressed.” Dis says as he’s Wilhelmina like a piece of raw meat. “So tell me, what does a Succubus like you know about current events? I’d imagine with your job as a whore you must’ve heard some bedroom talk.”

“Ex-whore. I left that line of work for the Fighter’s Guild.” Wilhelmina corrects.

“You mean the same one under control of Fredika Zombolt?” Dis asks.

“Yes, we’re all glad to have her back.” Wilhelmina replies.

Dis looks at Wilhelmina, scratching her chin as he continues to size her up. “Then I guess this is pretty important to you.” Dis says, using a darkness tentacle to grab ahold of Wilhelmina’s katana blade and bring it to him.

“No!” Wilhelmina says reaching out for it, but is quickly grabbed by the collar and pulled back.

“There we go! THAT breaking of your facade is when I know I’ve hit something important to Okarians!” Dis says as he slowly begins to unsheath the Katana, doing his best to admire it. “Sssooo... why is this little butterknife important to you.”

Wilhelmina takes a deep breath. It’s alright. Just play along for now and everything should be fine. “I-It’s my family blade, passed down for generations in my family. It’s the only momento I have left of my mothers.”

“Hm... I see...” Dis says putting the katana back into it’s sheath. “Alright then, how about a trade?”

“A trade?” Wilhelmina asks.

“Yes, you tell me the reason why Fredika has pulled herself out of her rut as of late, and I’ll give you back your family treasure.” Dis says holding the katana in front of her.

“P-Pardon?” Wilhelmina asks, barely able to comprehend what she was hearing.

“You heard me loud can clear bitch. *Everything*. If you lie, I’ll be taking sword. If I feel that you’re omitting anything, then I’ll be taking it.” Dis says. “Your call of course.”

Thoughts of horror begin to flood Wilhelmina’s mind. Fredika is naturally tied into Brooklyn’s meeting, but if she talks, then Brooklyn may be as good as dead, along with the other Queen’s. But the blade is the only thing left of Wilhelmina’s family after her village was razed. And knowing Dis, he’s not going to take kindly to lying.

Wilhelmina collapses to the ground, images of her damned future flashing in front of her eyes, her hands balling up to fists in the snow.

“I’m waiting~.” Dis muses above Wilhelmina.

“She’s... She’s going to be at a meeting with the other Succubus Leaders soon... A conference...” Wilhelmina admits after several seconds.

“A conference? Tell me about this conference.” Dis orders.

“I... I don’t know what it’s about. I know the location is... is underground at roughly 457 Calgary Drive. Just... Go underground and press the pipe overhead. It leads to the meeting room. They’ll be there at midday exactly.” Wilhelmina breaks down.

“Oh... Oh wow! You.... You actually told me! Hahaha!” Dis laughs above Wilhelmina, not believing his luck. “Oh... Oh I can just imagine Fredika’s face to you now! ‘You told them of WHAT Wilhelmina!? The first conference we’ve had in literal centuries! The one that can save our race!?’ And not only that, but what would your family think of you actually turning your back on your own Lord! They’re probably looking at you in shame in the Underworld as we speak!”

Wilhelmina can’t do anything but continue staring at the ground, tears coming out from her eyes as she imagines everyone saying that to her.

“You know... I don’t think a traitor like you deserves such a fine weapon. I’ll be taking it.” Dis says as he begins to walk past Wilhelmina.

“W-wha!? B-But you said-”

“As I said, I don’t think a traitor like yourself is fit for such an important weapon.” Dis smugly says as he walks on by her.

Wilhelmina can only watching in horror as one of the most important pieces in her entire life is being taken away right in front of her, and she’s absolutely powerless to stop it.

“O-OK... Just... Just treat it really well OK? P-Polish it everyday a-and sharpen it after every use!” Wilhelmina begs as Dis begins to leave.

Dis then turns to look at Wilhelmina from behind his shoulder, a glint in his eyes. “I said I was taking it. I didn’t say anything about keeping it.”

“...Eh?” Wilhelmina asks, now frozen in fear on what to do next.

Dis takes the blade from out of the sheath and throws it down to the ground, seconds before his cloven foot stomps down on the blade, shattering it into pieces right in front of Wilhelmina’s eyes.

“No... No...” Wilhelmina whimpers as she crawls over to the remainder of her blade, picking up the broken hilt in her quivering hands.

“...Wilhelmina...” you mutter after the story.

“I’m... I’m no good for anyone Brooklyn! I... I betrayed my family’s honour, the Guild’s honour, and the honour of my friend who’s only crime was to trust me!” Wilhelmina says collasping down to her knees and beginning to sob. “I have nothing... *nothing* left to live for anymore!”

Wilhelmina only nods against your breast in response.

“Good. Now come on. Let’s head on over to my place and see what we can do to unravel all of this mess. We’re going to need all the help we can get.” you say smoothing her hair down.

After waiting for Erika’s word, it appears that the coast is still clear at your house, though you’re unsure of why that’s the case. Not even Erika knows why the Pride Demons have done a search of your place yet.

As you come back to your tower, you can see nearly everyone is downstairs in the living room, a few quiet conversations going on, but many of them hushed.

“Brooklyn! You’re alive!” Mina says rushing over to you, giving you a big hug.

You give a quick hug back to Mina before prying yourself away from her. “Yes, but not nearly under the same kind of torture that Wilhelmina is under. Mina I want you to take Wilhelmina upstairs and have a little heart to heart talk with her.”

“Sebastien told us that the meeting was a bust.” Nalika says.

“That’s an understand. They were throwing spears at fish in a barrel.” you say sitting down next to your father. “I’m not even sure of the losses at this point.”

“I saw them take away their captives. The Gemelli, Ayarian, and Belkarian Leaders are captured. The Miyian Ambassador is in critical condition, but she’ll live.” Sebastien says as he lights up a cigerette. “And before you ask, no I didn’t go after them. I was prepared for a small attack force, not a small army.”

“Well where will they be going now?” you ask.

Ada only takes a deep sigh before she simply replies, “New TO.”

The entire room is silent for the scant few seconds as this is mentioned.

“No Succubus wants to go to New TO willingly.” Ada then retorts. “Pride Demon capital of Canada, place is fortified to hell and back.”

Amanda seems to be deep in thought, before something akin to a light bulb goes off in her twisted head. “If anything, I think we should thank Wilhelmina for this spark.”

“Pardon?” you ask her. You’re not sure how this is anything positive.

“We have a religious leader who’s in critical condition, a rebel group who just had their leader kidnapped, the head of the Fighter’s Guild fallen in combat then kidnapped, and an information specialists leader just robbed right under their noses. All four of these groups are basically fuel for a large potential inferno.” Amanda comments. “If we properly plant the spark, then all of them should be more than eager to fight in order to seek their vengeance.”

“Amanda! How can you make such a horrible suggestion!?” Leona replies in shock.

“It’s called seeing the entire picture Leona. There are no right or wrong choices, just some more beneficial than others.” Amanda snaps back to Leona.

True. But if they break the Belkerain leader we're in trouble. So we have a time limit, and not nearly enough weapons. Fortunately I know a way around that

“No, she’s right about this. In history, there is always a tipping point, and this could be our own.” you reply.

“But Brooklyn, how are we even going to accomplish this!?” Erika asks.

“Succubi are known for subtly, but you’re going to need a plan to break out the Succubi Leaders.” Sebastien adds.

“Do you know when they’re being shipped?” you ask.

“No, but in all likelihood soon. I have a full personality profile on Dis, and he’s not the type to wait around. He’ll want them shipped out to New TO as soon as possible then will want to leave. Capturing any of the leaders should be enough to repay the debt he owed Dio.”

“Hm... We’ll need more information on that.” you reply.

“I can ask some of my old friends for the blueprints of New TO. They should’ve saved them even after Dio ransacked the college.” your father offers.

“Could you get an adventurer group or two to help assist?” you ask.

“Not for Succubi, but I may be able to see some of the more martially inclined ones could help. Their loyalties are often towards the Fighters Guild more than Celestia.” Your father adds.

Nalika takes a deep breath. “I dislike fighting, but if it’s for a cause like this, I don’t mind doing my own part.”

“Something like this though... This is big. I-I’ve never even attempted something on a scale like this before.” Ada says, visibly sweating as she becomes flustered.

"At this point, it seems likely that we will end up in open war with the Pride Demons after we rescue the other Leaders... Our best bet would be a hit and run strike on them as any prolonged engagement would be in their favour..."

"Dis is likely going to be in the middle of the Leaders, to ensure his 'captives' stay 'captive'... so we will have to be very quick... We need to get him pinned down so we can extract the others... We would also need an army to hold off Dis troops from intervening with the pinning and extraction teams... Once we have the Leaders, we will need something big to cover our escape... The only thing I can think of which could be prepared in such short notice is whatever Beck is working on. I have been informed that he has been building a rather substantial power generator, which is suspected to be used to supply a super weapon... If this is the case, then if Beck can be convinced to assist in the operation, we might have a tangible opportunity to rescue the Leaders."

"At this point, it seems likely that we will end up in open war with the Pride Demons after we rescue the other Leaders. Our best bet would be a hit and run strike on them as any prolonged engagement would be in their favour."

“The Pride Demons are known to win quite a few of their wars by sheer attrition yes.” Erika replies.

“Their supplies lines are legendary in that aspect.” Amanda adds.

“If you can.” Ada replies. “Alex told us everything, and while I assume Wilhelmina has some... VERY good reasons for doing what she did, bottom line is that an Okarian was the one who leaked the meeting.”

“Many Miyian’s were on good terms with the other leaders. Ishtar and Arum got out too, so they can’t pin this on being an Okarian plot of some sort.” Amanda adds.

" Dis won't stay around for transport so our best bet is to try to rescue them in transit rather than trying to do so from a literal fortress city.

I hope they are not planning to just use magic to instantly transport them from one place to another if that is so it will be far harder to intersect them.

They may be planing to be making a show of their latest capture. So they may parade them around before transporting them which may also open up opportunities to break them out. However most certainly they will be under heavy guard if so.

I rather try to get them before they reach New T.O. but we may have to break them from there. Right now we need information"

Erika looks a bit troubled as she hears your plan. “It could work, but the losses of going up against Dis would be enormous.”

“Dis held back because he was in a crowded area. If we fought somewhere open then he could really cut loose.” Sebastien comments.

“What if... What if we let Dis take the leaders to New TO?” Alex adds. “No, listen to me! The leaders they captured will most likely be trained to resist torture, and the only facilities they have capable of breaking them will be in New TO. While they’re preparing the transfer, I say we put a forward force ahead in New TO. We can use the stealth to lay the traps, then spring them in one swoop.”

“...New TO is also their nerve center. If we hit that, but Edmonton and Old TO will be basically paralyzed in terms of military power.” Troy adds.

“How long do we have is the question?” you ask.

“For any plan we do?” Erika asks. “...I have a feeling they’ll want to ship the leaders ASAP, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they begin the journey the next day. It’s a two week trip to New TO, and I estimate that the leaders can withstand... a week I guess. I don’t know them that well, so it could vary quite a bit.”

“I am a demon.” you reply flatly.

“And how do you plan on convincing them to help Succubi?” Amanda asks.

“I have my ways.” you say with a smile to yourself.

“I’m going to talk to Arum. With all of this chaos, she’s probably going to start the Succubus Village project without the involvement of the other heads. Many Succubi are going to want to leave Old TO after this.” Ada replies as she sits up.

“I’ll head over to the university and see what I can sense there.” Amanda replies.

“I’ll head upstairs to change clothing for my little charade.” you say as you head upstairs.

As the door opens, you can see both Mina and Wilhelmina standing next to each other. Wilhelmina tightly gripping Mina’s own hand as she gazes down on the floor.

“Come on. Just as we rehearsed.” Mina says patting her on the shoulder.

Wilhelmina seems to take a deep breath to calm herself, collecting her feelings before looking at you directly in the eyes. “Brooklyn, I am sorry for what I have done to you and to our race. I know that you’re not going to enjoy hearing this, but right now I need to go on a pilgrimage.”

“A pilgrimage? Of what sort?” you ask.

“To find myself again. I... I lost everything that night Brooklyn. I’m... not even sure where I belong in this world anymore. So I want to take a journey into the woods near Old TO and seek counsel with the spirits there.” Wilhelmina explains.

“How long will that take?” you ask.

Wilhelmina remains silent for a few moments. “...I’m not sure.”

“Brooklyn, it may be difficult for you to understand, but that sword was more than just a family memento for her. It was also part of her own soul. I know things are bad right now, and Wilhelmina feels terrible for asking this, but right now she doesn’t even understand where her place in life should be. You don’t heal from such things overnight.” Mina explains to you.

Wilhelmina simply nods. “I do not know what I shall do or what shall happen, but I know that I will return at the very least. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to head home to begin my preparations.”

“Good luck on your pilgrimage Wilhelmina!” Mina says waving.

“Likewise!” you say waving to her.

Wilhelmina gives a small, sheepish wave before heading down the stairs.

“...Do you think we can get her blade repaired?” you ask Mina.

“Physically, yes. But repairing is only one step Brooklyn. Wilhelmina’s people are very animistic, and when the blade was destroyed so was the link to her family. The spirit of the blade would also be restless as well.” Mina explains.

“Hm... It’s going to be difficult to repair such a high quality sword...” you mutter.

“Physically? Oh no we can take it to a blacksmith’s and get it repaired in a few days.” Mina replies.

“...Seriously?” you ask.

“Yea, seriously. It brings shame upon Wilhelmina to have someone other than a family tend to her blade, so we’re going to need to be very careful on who to pick for the weapon smithing.” Mina replies.

“Hm... We should ask Latooni then. She specializes in weapons, so she may be able to help with something like this.” you reply. “In the meantime I need to head out.”

“Where too?” Mina asks.

“Oh I got... plans.” you reply to her.

And if we come at them with unexpected overwhelming force now then we can keep them from getting word of the queens revival for who knows how long. By that point they will be up to speed, and the succubi united and ready for them. The real problem is that the queens are starving, but I had an idea to deal with that. We have a decent cash reserve, and can possibily an even more substantial amount though our economic friends. You head on over to Amelia’s current hotel, a monolithic skyscraper that seems to tower above the ruins of Old TO around it, the Hilton Hotel. As you walk in, you can feel the plush red carpet below your feet as you begin the trek up to Amelia’s current room on the... 45th floor. You may be in peak physical condition as a Succubus, but god damn does this ever take the wind out of you.

As you reach the 45th floor, you begin to walk down the immaculately maintained hallway and down towards 4523, Amelia’s own room. You’re sure to shapeshift into a younger form when no one is looking before knocking on the door.

“Who is it?” Amelia calls out.

“It’s me! Brooklyn! I wanna play Amelia!” you chant outside.

The door seems to fly open just a second later, opening the door to see Amelia’s bare ass and backside in front of your face.

“I-I’m sorry Brooklyn, but we just got a call to move out! With Lord Dio’s recent action against the Succubi, we’re worried that he’s not just blowing hot air this time.” Amelia says going in front of a full body mirror, letting her towel drop as she begins to comb back her hair and put her cleric’s tiara on.

After heading over to the church, you’re surprised to see the usually rather calm and relax church now seemingly overstocked with several blatant Succubi guards all around the church of all types. No surprise given the recent injury of Ishtar, but to see fully armored guards is something else. You’re even patted down before you’re allowed to enter the church proper.

Heading over to the front of the church, you can see a few Succubi and mortals inside of the church in silent prayer, Teresa kneeling before the front altar, dressed in her shiny plate armour along with shield and sword next to her.

I'm well aware of that anon, your completely missing the point, what I wrote was a half-truth, not a literal truth...
>>
>>33184045
sounds good, though might want to be a bit more subtle about mentioning the queens and Miyu

once we have the initial planning out of the way here we should find Latooni and get her to check Wilhelmina's sword
>>
>>33184078
Not the anon you replied to. But breaking is something quite distinct and literal to succubi. There is no half truth to saying "they broke someone who knew about meeting", because they didn't.
It's far easier to say "they managed to get intel from someone who knew about the meeting." which is true and there are no "half-truths" about it.

Mind you, this is all moot now.
>>
>>33184154
>But breaking is something quite distinct and literal to succubi
you just said exactly what he said, which I already fucking know

"Supply's we can get. Several of the Miyu's armories remain hidden, and she knows the locations and entry requirements. As for intelligence, I may be able to tap into the Celestian intel network.” you were about to mention Shiva, but knowing her she’d probably prop up a lawnchair to watch the entire thing. “Plus, we have to revolt Teresa. We can't let them learn about ym sponsors, which means a rescue, and counting on the pride demons to let that kind of blow go unanswered is foolish in the extreme."

“A rescue is what I’d expect. I was doing my own planning for a rescue when Ishtar came back and told me what happened with her last breaths.” Teresa says with a heavy tone.

“You mean she’s dead!?” you whisper in shock.

“No, but the blow was rather heavy for her. Being impaled with a large object isn’t something one easily recovers from. She’ll be fine with some rest, so until she’s back on her feet I’m in charge of the church.” Teresa replies.

“What’s your plan for the rescue?” you ask.

“Attack when Dis is gone. I think we can win against him, but the cost will be too great. We’d not only have to put up with a drastically decreased fighting force, but we’d have to put up with Dis’s own family house calling a blood feud on us.” Teresa explains.

“And we don’t need to worry about the same thing happening with Articus?” you ask.

“Articus is considered a hermit. If he dies, no one will weep when he’s gone.” Teresa replies. “If we do fight Dis, we’d need to make sure we don’t kill him by accident. The problem is as soon as Dis enters anyplace where collateral isn’t an issue, he’d be able to unleash his full power, and that worries me.”

(What do you want to say?)
>>
>>33184356
"Agreed. I can try, I did try, to shut down his magic, but even with my tricks I'm simply not powerful enough to stop him from overwhelming me with sheer force in short order."
What's the name of the most powerful of the Sutoba sisters? We should mention trying to contact her, since she's probably about as powerful and Dis is.

>>33184425

>>
"Agreed. I can try, I did try, to shut down his magic, but even with my tricks I'm simply not powerful enough to stop him from overwhelming me with sheer force in short order." you say.

“Even the Queen’s had trouble taking on more than one general at a time when the Pride Demons first invaded Earth. He’s strong than a good many of us, and his knights are problematic to deal with as well.” Teresa replies.

“Could Luna be a match for him? you ask. “Luna Subota?”

“Perhaps she could. She is an expert in Space and Light magic, but if Dis manages to get her into melee range then it will not be a pretty sight.” Teresa replies. “I suspect the Subota’s have some method of contacting her however.”

(Anything else?)

>>
“Do you think you can arrange a meeting with the current Belkarian Leader and Grendel Beck?” you ask.

“Hm... Those are a bit tricky to do. The Belkarians are in the midst of a power vacuum, so I do not know who will be their leader until that’s decided. Beck I’d have more luck with, as with something on this scale, she’d have to make some sort of statement.” Teresa replies.

“I only ask for your best and nothing more. Now if you excuse me, I have to go now.” you say sitting up.

“May the blessing of Pamille be with you.” Teresa says as you go to exit.

You begin to look around the area for Latooni, which isn’t that difficult as she’s currently holding out a donation dish out in front of the church.

“Leaving so soon Lady Brooklyn?” Latooni asks.

“Not quite.” you say throwing a gold piece into the dish.

“Oh thank you so much for your generous donation Lady Brooklyn!” Latooni says with a small blush.

“Latooni, I have a small favor to ask of you.” you tell her.

“What’s that Lady Brooklyn?” Latooni asks.

You reach under your dress and use your space control to pull out a piece of Wilhelmina’s damaged Katana, her leaving it at her place when she went on her journey. “This weapon has been damaged, and I was w-”

“Sorry, but I can’t do that Lady Brooklyn.” Latooni says in a regretful tone.

“What? Didn’t you use to make artifact weapons?” you ask. “You should be able to repair a mundane blade in your sleep.”

“It’s not that Lady Brooklyn, but rather I don’t enjoy working on offense weapons. I... I don’t like going to bed and night and thinking about how many people died by the hands of my own works...” Latooni says looking down at the ground, avoiding your gaze. “T-That’s why I don’t work on weapons anymore...”
>>
>>33185717
use space control to get a bit of privacy.
"I understand. This is less of a weapon, and more of a family heirloom which needs reforging and my friend would appreciate it if you would fix and improve it for her."
From what I remember, her reluctance to enchant weapons came from when her last attempt to improve a familiar weapon wasn't appreciated.
>>
>>33185717
"This sword belongs to a good friend of mine, it is the last thing she has left of her home town, General Dis broke it. I can't say that it will not be used to end anymore lives and I don't want to force you but will you at least give it some thought? Please?"

no need to put on any fancy doodads, it's not really creating a weapon at all.
>>
>>33185717
"This particular blade has not been used as a weapon for a long time, it is a link to the past, the only link a friend of mine has to her history and her departed family, and this blade, right now, has a life to save, not hurt, but it cannot do it broken and its spirit shattered.

Latooni think for a moment, a weapon only becomes a weapon when used with intent, and the only intent this blade ever had to my friend was as a link to what she lost, to remind her and keep her family with her wherever she goes, and now she is lost and the only thing she had left broken and shattered, please, help restore its spirit and let it save a life for once, give it that chance."

Just got back wondering why are we discussing a riot when we don't even have the resources to successfully pull one off. we need to build up or abilities first. I doubt a few months will be sufficient but who knows.

I know we where planing on doing one in the future but it seems like suicide to commit this early to one.

Also from a logistic standpoint we will be screwed they won't have to fight us. just close off the portals let everyone die due to lack of food and stuff.

See why i am sort of concerned about trying to revolt early. I am all for rescue operation but revolt is a bit much currently.

>reaso why i am stating this is because unless acturus is dead we are screwed. He will simply plung the continent into sub zero killing everyone.

He won't. Pride Demons need subjects as part of their strength and Aether regeneration. Plus not every Pride demon in the area is immune to cold, so he'd be effectively killing his own men.

No one ever seemed to spend DP on allies, so I'm basically treating them as levelling up on the side.

Brooklyn still levels up as normal, and I'll hand out the DP at the end of the thread.
>>
>>33186362
>Brooklyn still levels up as normal, and I'll hand out the DP at the end of the thread.
Good, because its getting game breaking, and I wouldn't exactly call stagnating progression-wise for 20 threads 'normal'.
>>
>>33186384
We put up a better performance against Dis than a pair of Dukes did, that has to be worth some DP. and by "Some" I mean "A lot"

>>
>>33186466
I think the real sense of frustration is that we're a still so outclassed. We're getting pretty powerful, but compared to the people we deal with we're basically a bug, with no sense that that situation will change any time soon.
>>
>>33186466

reason why spending xp is hard is because multiple people want to go in different directions and we don't have enough xp to get the relay shiny stuff so we want to save. this is my assessment of the situation.
>>
>>33186362
>No one ever seemed to spend DP on allies,
That's because in order to spend DP you need a consensus of some kind in the thread.
You have hard enough time doing that for Brooklyn, to have people do that for every single character is just silly. It drags down the quest. So yea, just switch to auto-leveling them up yourself. With maybe an input by Brooklyn here and there. (if for example Erika asks Brooklyn on what she thinks she should train in etc).

And honestly, as >>33186384 said.
>and I wouldn't exactly call stagnating progression-wise for 20 threads 'normal'.
We are just crawling along. Especially if you consider the things we are facing. It gives players no sense of progression.
>>33186524 said it correctly.
>>
>>33186554
what if rules were made for spending DP that were more than just "every person votes for his own idea"

lets say, two or three popular ideas get voted on
>>
>>33186524

I think I should make something clear then.

One thing I intended for this thread was teamwork. I gave NPC's stat sheets originally to show what their capabilities are and so an idea how to use them for certain challenges (Nalika I still need to stat). Many of the bosses presented in this thread are often powerful enough to grind any single one of your party members into a fine paste. But with teamwork, your power increases exponentially and will allow you to take down some the bigger threats.

Look at Miyu for example. She was far stronger than Brooklyn is currently, but she had trouble fighting even two demon General's at once, let alone three or more.

Basically part of me wants to avoid this becoming something like DBZ, in where Goku seems to solve almost everything by being the strongest and the rest of the group is there as a peanut gallery.

>So you're saying we can never fight the bosses on equal terms?

No I didn't say that nor do I mean that. If I say In game that Brooklyn is on par with someone, he'd be able to fight him (The Hero who declared Brooklyn his rival being one example), but if they're stronger you'll want to bring friends. You (probably) won't need to bring an army, but a group of your close allies will suffice.

After saying this, I'd have probably shot myself in the foot, but god knows I have a habit of doing that.

Latooni looks concerned as you say this. “I-I’m not so sure Lady Brooklyn...”

“Latooni think for a moment, a weapon only becomes a weapon when used with intent, and the only intent this blade ever had to my friend was as a link to what she lost, to remind her and keep her family with her wherever she goes, and now she is lost and the only thing she had left broken and shattered.” you tell her.

“You mean it was a family heirloom?” Latooni asks.

“It *was* her family Latooni. She was so shocked by it’s destruction that she was in grieving for nearly three days, and still is to an extent. Please, help restore its spirit and let it save a life for once, give it that chance." you ask her.

Latooni looks conflicted, putting down the donation tray while taking the blade in her hands, taking out the blade to have a look at the shattered blade. “...Even though it’s broken, I can tell that a lot of love and care went into this blade.”

“You can tell that?” you ask her.

“Yes, you can often tell the difference between one who uses a weapon as a tool compared to being their soulmate. The wax used on this blade... It’s very high quality, even though cheaper options exist.” Latooni says running her fingers along the edge of the blade, like a wine connoisseur inspects wine. “...Fine. I’ll do it. Does the blade need to be finished by a certain time?”

“It’s owner is on a pilgrimage, so I’m not sure when she’ll be back.” you reply.

“I just hope I can do a good enough job to make the owner happy though... Usually it’s considered bad luck to reforge such an important possession.” Latooni says sheepishly as she puts the damaged blade back into it’s sheath.

>After saying this, I'd have probably shot myself in the foot, but god knows I have a habit of doing that.
I don't want this to be like DBZ, but I think you're taking the wrong tack. We aren't an adventurer, and us players didn't show up to play as adventures. We showed up to play a Demon Lord, says so right in the title. Ergo, the power of teamwork being an equalizer because we're weaker than our opponents should not be our normal means of dealing with things.

We shouldn't be Fighting the Hero 1v1. We should be fighting him and his party like a proper demon lord.

We shouldn't be teaming up against the local pride demon lord. We should be fighting him one on one while our friends deal with his mooks, champion and knights.

We don't handle everything by ourselves, but we should be one of the most powerful people on our side, and more than a match for most individual opponents we are likely to face.
>>
>>33186912
Basically this. What happened when we raided that weapons depo a few threads ago should be the default. Not the "teaming up on more powerful enemies"
>>
>>33186721

I like the team work aspect as well but a lot of situations seem like we are so out of league no amount of teamwork will matter or make much of a difference. I am not saying those situations should not happen it is just that it can get tiring especial when session are so infrequent.

I agree that one piece does a great job of handling this kind of action. every member of the straw hat crew at this point is a certified badass with enough power to wade through mooks and mid level bosses without too much difficulty. Enen so there remain threats that they have to team up to take down and many of their enemies do not exist in a vaccume, they too have their own friends allies and teams of powerfull minions. It's a system where the main character, Luffy in that case, can throw his weight around and feel powerful meanwhile he still has a ways to go before he can take on the really big guys.
I'm not saying we should be able to solo Dis anytime soon but we are supposed to be a deamon lord, and right now our power level dosen't feel very lordly

No, I think this is a pretty good analysis speaking of sorts. Pretty much most of the members in the group are like this right now.

Now as for DP.

I checked the past revisions of Brooklyn's sheet, last time I gave DP was March 7th, so I'm going to assume I was on track then.

Since then, five significant events happened which IMO warrant DP:

1) Taking the twins on a date + finally bedding them.
2) Raiding the Vampire base + escaping with an additional party member AND not being caught.
3) Corrupting Amelia
4) The Vampire frame job
5) Escaping the meeting with three leaders

All together I figure this should be about... 315 DP. All in all this should give you about 600 to spend now. If you think I left out any events, let me know.

Popular vote seems to be library, and my IRL friends are bugging me to go over to their place, so I think I'll end the thread here for now. I'll make a new thread on Sunday. Feel free to debate on how DP should be spent.

As for how DP should be spent on allies, don't worry about and just assume that they level up by themselves. I realize now it's probably far too much work to keep about a dozen detailed sheets, so just use your allies sheets as guidelines.

>What if we want to teach our allies new tricks not on there?

Yeah, I'm not sure you are listening to us, or at least understanding our complaints and suggestions.
>All together I figure this should be about... 315 DP.
Okay, scratch that, you definitely don't get it. We (Or at least I) want to play Dis. I want to have loads of Mooks, I want to have a core or loyal and capable knights (some of whom are legends in their own rights), a cool castle and I want the vast majority of pride demons (including knights and lesser nobility) to shit themselves at the thought of facing Brooklyn Browning in single combat. I don't want to do it all ourselves, but I do want our character to be considered by most to be one of the 20 or so most powerful Succubi in existence (Most don't know about the queens admittedly). And eventually be considered THE most powerful and respected Lust Demon, including the now revealed queens.
>>
>>33193199
Now, I fully understand that that takes time and I'm not asking you to hand this to us on a silver platter. On the other hand, I've wanted this since thread 1, and its been over a year and a half. In that year and a half we've gone from below average to above average, but are still a gnat compared to the real movers and shakers in the setting. We've also managed to get a single formal vassal, who's vassalage I'm pretty sure you've forgotten. For that matter, when Wihelmina asked if we wanted her to be our vassal you had Brooklyn say no without even consulting us (when I, at the very least, would have said yes, I want her as the leader of the Knights of Browning).

So, to sum things up I'd ask you to do two things:
1. Stop unintentionally sabotaging our (or at least my) efforts to acquire vassals, and when we do acquire vassals, have their formal status be relevant and mentioned.
2. Increase how quickly Brooklyn increases power by a lot. Either through awarding more DP, or having us get substantial downtime after a story arc, and picking up several months/years later when Brooklyn is much more powerful.
>>
>>33193219
>We've also managed to get a single formal vassal, who's vassalage I'm pretty sure you've forgotten
Hey, I remember at least. Though, yeah, it could stand to be mentioned at least occasionally.

>For that matter, when Wihelmina asked if we wanted her to be our vassal you had Brooklyn say no without even consulting us (when I, at the very least, would have said yes, I want her as the leader of the Knights of Browning).
That... was handled poorly. On the other hand, she'll probably swear herself formally to us once she returns.
>>
>>33187504
>No, I think this is a pretty good analysis speaking of sorts. Pretty much most of the members in the group are like this right now.
Yeah, No its not. From what I understand, people want encounters to go like this, roughly in order of frequency.
Us power tripping by slaughtering hoards of weaker foes alone or with friends.
A Court battle Royal: us and our friends/vassals against a leader type roughly equal in strength to us and his followers
Us playing the demon lord to an adventuring party(or similar midboss types). TPK ensues
Us fighting someone stronger than us and having to use teamwork to defeat a single opponent.

Basically, #4 is happening about half the time, when the number should be closer to maybe 10% or so of fights.

>All together I figure this should be about... 315 DP. All in all this should give you about 600 to spend now. If you think I left out any events, let me know.

Getting all the leaders to agree to sit down and meet. We never actually got any DP for arranging the meeting. Also agree that it should be more not incluiding what I just mentioned

Is there anyway we could combine abilities/skills to speed things up?

For example, instead of light needing 1000 to level up how about we need 750 and elemental specialization light. The total cost would be the same but we would not need to stock up DP.

>I want to have loads of Mooks

You have Fort Hope's purse strings, you can easily pull this off now.

>But they're fucking mortals

Mortals in this setting increase in power a lot when let by a competent supernatural commander. Plus an army will allow you to hold ground. No matter how good anyone gets in this setting, they cannot be anywhere and everywhere at once. An army used for this, and mortals vastly outnumber demons. Fort Hope has a lot of Succubi and demons, but that's because the Pride Demons funneled nearly all of the Succubi on earth and several other planets into there and Edmonton. Fort Hope is closer to what one would expect with demons and how many could be in a small city.

>I want to have a core or loyal and capable knights (some of whom are legends in their own rights)

Mina, Ada, your father, Brodin, Sebastien, Leona, Amanda, Erika the twins, Wilhelmina (when she comes back), Alex, Troy, Uilodsir (You people may knock these guys, but they have been improving and are still quiet good), and Nalika.

While not officially 'knights', I'd consider that a rather scary core group of people.

Shiva would rather record any kind of battle you're in then sell bootleg DVD's of the fights for laughs.

>a cool castle

True. You could try and pimp the Fort Hope castle out.

>a cool castle and I want the vast majority of pride demons (including knights and lesser nobility) to shit themselves at the thought of facing Brooklyn Browning in single combat

Average is called Average for a reason. Most Pride Demon nobility only HAS Average ranking for offense skills with a good ranking in some social magics, with many of the knights having Good rankings. Remember Blizzarios? IIRC correctly, his ice rank was only Good. Brooklyn's magic ratings right now for Light and Darkness are Great, which means she's on par with the Pride Demon Elites (Who generally only specialize in one element) and Greed Demon casters (Greed Demon physical defenses are GARBAGE to compensate for high levels and more than one element). Dis is an outlier among the Generals, as even the ones who attacked Miyu really only had one element.

Case in point. Remember that raid on base last thread? Against the Greed Demon? His ranged attacks was pretty good, but the moment we closed in and stabbed the bastard he sure as hell felt it. Okarians may be weak, but to the Greed Demon's Brooklyn is like a Belkarian in terms of strength.

In terms of power, Brooklyn does have the power to make a lot of the Pride Demon nobility known to fear him. It's only powerful, notable figures such as Lord Dio who can fight on par with him.
>>
[3/3]

The main antagonists I can think of that are stronger than Brooklyn without a doubt are:

- Dis: A demon general with Light/Dark magic, and unlike Brooklyn actually has pretty good physical defense and damn good in melee (Both to hit and physical damage) to boot. Brooklyn has a mobility advantage, but Dis has an offensive/defensive one currently.

- Brooklyn Draugr: Bullshit powers means he's going to have what Brooklyn has +1 without the Okarian physical problems. Directly overpowering him isn't generally an option with him, but he's not overwhelmingly strong enough to be beaten with proper cunning as unlike others, you know what his powers are for a fact.

- Articus: A Demon General who specializes in ice and current ruler of Canada. Crippled, but still currently very strong in his related area.

- Valvosa: A Pride Demon king who in game has been described with a power level more akin to a Demon Emperor. Ate Miyu's most powerful attacks and still kept coming.

- King of Despair: Theoretical, but if alive anyone who can take one 14 Demon Emperor class opponents *at once* and beat about 11 of them is cause for concern.

But you ask what about people like the Succubi leaders?

The only leaders alive when the Queen's were in power were Fredika and Oksana's daughters, with the rest of the Queen's daughters unaccounted for. Right now you are WAY stronger than Arum is, certainly stronger than Beck (Outside of any theoretical super weapons she may have), Rebecca, Ishtar, and probably with Lita and Aria being on par (The two can fuse, but only for a limited time).
>>
>>33197061

^ this, this is what is the most bugging me. I think it's also the main reason we perceive Brooklyn as weak and with slow progress.
We should at least upgrade something (either few skills or a power) each thread.

But Sand could give more DP, considering the accomplishments.
>>
>>33192702
I all for doing Element Spec for light and dark (500 DP) This should help us with the ANNIHILATOR BEAM as well, no?

+ Axe to Great! 45 DP and Dodge to Awesome! 50 DP
If we get extra DP as said Sand owes us, then Politics to Great! 45 sounds good. We are going to deal with that eventually.
>>
>>33194191
So, looking at abilities really quickly, Elemental specialization costs 250, so 500 for a 20% bonus to Darkness and Light Control. However, Aether Burn is 120, which would give us up-to-50% more damage, as long as we increase the cost by an equivalent amount. This'll also work on things like social attacks (giving us more of a bonus for more Aether), and will probably also work with Cloaking and even Aether Sight (to detect with greater accuracy and so on).

Also, getting Axes to Great would give us Gravity Axe Smasher (which would give us a highly powerful attack with far less Aether use the Final Buster Spark).

we really need a better voting system to spend the DP

No offense, but you've done a poor job showing it. Since I had no idea.

>Remember Blizzarios? IIRC correctly, his ice rank was only Good
Great! actually. Also, he was explicitly established as a rookie knight on his first mission, that is he was about the weakest we could expect a knight to be. Maybe he was exceptionally talented if inexperienced?

>True. You could try and pimp the Fort Hope castle out.
Except that's Ada's castle. We aren't the ruler of Fort Hope, and Ada isn't our vassal. Also, seriously doubt we'll be forming a Coup any time soon, so unless Ada wants another job we won't be the lord of Fort Hope.

Now I'm just confused. You established a ranking for demonic nobility that went:
Baron - Lord - Count - Duke - King - Emperor
With Knights going from below Baron to roughly equal to a duke
And was usually reflective of power because any demon too weak for their position got murdered and usurped.
Articus has been repeatedly described as Lord Articus. That is, a demonic noble of the second rank, AKA a relatively minor noble in the grand scheme of things. We've been told that he has Ice at Master. As he's the only lord we know of, the reasonable assumption is that second rank demonic nobility usually has one control at Master level (assuming his focus on controls is roughly average across demonic nobility.)

So, here are my questions, because I think we're talking past each other:
1. Were does Articus actually stand on the Baron - Emperor Scale? How would "Lord Articus" stand up to Duke Fredrika? I was assuming he'd be basically slaughtered.
2. Where does Brooklyn stand on the scale? I was assuming he was still a relatively weak Baron, but you're describing him like a Count. That is, weaker that the Dukes (Fredrika, Oskana's daughters) but equal to or stronger than everyone else.
3. On a related question what would an average Okerian of the various ranks have as their strongest controls, assuming they were built roughly like we are?

It's great for a few players who understand what they're doing in a tabletop setting. But in this sort of voting area, it's a lot more difficult.

>>

>>33204947
While you are slightly rude, you do have a point. I, at least, had no idea that we are apparently one of the dozen or so most powerful Succubi in the city. It also makes me a bit confused, as Oskana's suggestion to get a mentor doesn't make much sense if we're at least as strong as the other Okerians besides her family, since that whole dynamic wouldn't apply to us anyway. Hell, we could probably get half a dozen or more Okerians wanting US to be their mentor if we're as powerful as Sand seems to be suggesting.

>>33206545
>It's great for a few players who understand what they're doing in a tabletop setting. But in this sort of voting area, it's a lot more difficult.
Especially since I'm usually the one who comes up with the plan, so I get my way about 90% of the time. Not bragging, just saying I have outsized influence in the process (which I'm trying to avoid this time, Note how I'm not voting)
>Well crap, we should start using it then.
Pretty sure we are. Certainly seemed like it when we were countering Dis's spells

>>33207422
Not sure if Time Control is a thing, and given Sandact's beliefs on resurrection time travel is probably impossible. If it is, the it would probably require us to get the control to at least average to do any good (Basic controls are terrible wastes of DP).
Now, rapid casting might be an ability we could buy.
>>
>>33207422
Extra turns, decreased casting times, it's as important as Fate control, if not more so.
>>
>>33204967

1) Articus's power is considered on par with Fredika back in his prime. I originally thought out the power levels in nobility to be rough guidelines. Two Barons may not be equal in power, and it's unsurprising to find a Baron basically ripping another Baron in two in terms of straight up power.

2) Right now? Hard to guess really. I'd say very high level Lord at this point or at least a Count level in power on the scale you provided. As you climb up the scales you tend to get fewer and fewer people in those power rankings. Like officially here is often only one Duke per continent while Counts often look after major cities, Lord's have small collections of lands and Baron's often just manage important buildings.

A good example of powerful classes is Shiva (Let's face it, I'm not fooling anyone in what she actually is). Shiva, even as an Empress, is considered absurdly strong. To the point where Valvosa realized that just fighting her *alone* would be more costly than trying to beat and subjugate the Wrath demons like the Succubi. Even with an army.
>>
>>33208082

3) For comparison?

Peasant: Average skills. Those who have a Good rank in an elemental magic are usually specialized workers, like demolition specialists or water treatment workers. A LOT of demons are like this, and many don't want official ranks because they often just want to live their 9 to 5 jobs and enjoy life as best as they can, and being a part of the ranking system means you constantly look over your back. In terms of 'unofficial' ranking amongst Demons, Brooklyn is here.

Baron: Good ranks are commonplace amongst one or two schools of magic. Can see Great amongst dedicated specialists, though rare.

Lord: Something at Great is often expected and the norm. You generally see more things at good than the ones below.

Count: Multiple greats with some goods in other areas. May have awesome rank if they are really dedicated, those that do are in the strong area of this class.

Duke: An awesome skill in something along with many great skills. Those in the upper levels generally have one Master class skill but sometimes at the detriment of having lower skills in other areas, often very old demons. Articus is in the latter. Dis is probably considered on the very peak of this area due to his high specialization in light and dark.

King/Queen: Typically many skills at awesome rank with at least one at master rank. At this point your aether reserves go through the roof to compensate for the massive cost of spells.

Emperor: Skills typically at master class and up are the norm. The classification ends at this point, so even if literally maxed out everything you'd still be considered Emperor tier in strength, unless they make a new power title.
>>
[3/3]

Those are guidelines, but for the demon world, the bottom line is "If you can beat the crap out of some rank and defend yourself against challenges, you are that rank and crush anyone who says otherwise." If you're a Count power, manage to trick a King/Queen into death then trick everyone who tries to kill you for you title into some bad end, you're that rank.
>>

>Not sure if Time Control is a thing

It is. Anytime I look at time control arcs I cringe at all the causality effects.

Time Travel however is outright possible. Time Control could do things like slow time, HASTE, speed it up, predict the outcome of certain events, find out how things worked in the past, and so on. No offense but every time I saw time travel introduced I often cringed at all the interweaving storyline and causality effects.

For a good example of time control, look at the Belkarian battle focus that Mina has. It's basically a clan-specific self-haste that Belkarians get off the bat.

> I originally thought out the power levels in nobility to be rough guidelines.
I don't think anyone thought the nobility was anything more than a rough guideline. The problem has been that our primary point of reference was Lord Articus, who is so atypical as to produce a highly scewed picture of the situation. After all, he's two ranks higher than his official title

The other alternative is presumably to be granted a rank by someone higher on the totem pole than you are, which is what the Queens did to Brooklyn. Since he has to keep it a secret for obvious reasons it isn't very helpful in social situations mind you, but what can you do eh?

Of course, since Both the Empress and Emperor of the pride and Lust demons don't exist anymore, no new Queen titles can be created for those respective species. If someone took the Empress or Emperor title they could create new kings and Queens, but they'd also be murdered by Valvosa or the Queens, so it hasn't happened. Which means that the Queen and King Titles are such scare commodities that an "average" probably doesn't exist.

Also bears mentioning that powerful friends and allies can skew the system further. For example, if the Queens were to give Brooklyn the title of Duke, most ambitious succubi wouldn't be tempted to steal the title despite his relative weakness because the Queens might murder them. Thus, if someone of Lord or Count strenght got granted the title of Duke by Valvosa, they could probably keep it for a while.
>>
>>33208942

I mainly used "Lord" by accent. I personally thought Lord Articus has a better ring. Plus most of the time you address someone higher than your station like "Yes mi'lord" or something akin to that.

>Of course, since Both the Empress and Emperor of the pride and Lust demons don't exist anymore, no new Queen titles can be created for those respective species.

In theory, nothing is stopping the current Succubus Queen's from declaring themselves an Empress. Hell, nothing's stopping Brooklyn. It's just when you do, other Succubi are going to "Let me prove that" OR be accepted as such. If one of the Queen's declared themselves as Empress, the rest would have to agree to it.

Why didn't they they elect an Empress after so long? Good question to ask.

As for the Pride Demons, Valvosa is basically a figurehead for the current Emperor who is nothing but a vegetable. There is nothing stopping a Pride Demon King from declaring himself Emperor aside from Valvosa stepping up and immediately challenging any sort of claim "in the Emperor's name".

There's nothing stopping Succubi like the Subota's or Fredika from declaring they're the Belkarian or Okarian Queen's in theory, but you're correct in that Valvosa does not want central figurehead for them. That's why they're simply called "Leaders".

How "strong" one's friends can be is a factor, but generally nobility doesn't give ranks out to weaker demons normally. This is because the responsibilities that come with the station usually merit that kind of power, and your higher ups probably gave you that rank in order to do some task, not for them to do a task for you.

But yes, superiors killing inferiors who stole their titles isn't unheard of, so often they need to be sure they can do a better job... assuming they're not arrogant enough to believe they can do everything better.

I want to change my vote of DP to Space control and Axes to Great . We NEED high Space control for the portals, and I don't really trust Oksana's daughter to help us for long (or completely). If everyone feels that we don't breed it, it's fine, I just feel the need to say this.
>>
>>33210502
If upgrading Space control would allow us to be able to open portals big enough for people to walk through, then i vote for that too.
>>
>>33210968

It would.

Space 3 allows you to make portals, but with a few exceptions:

1) They're temporary, lasting only about 10 seconds.

2) They have a long casting time, meaning it's extraordinarily had to cast in combat time.

3) Attempting to open a portal in the vacuum of space is immensely difficult, as are places which are hostile to life. Reason: I'm always hated save dies, and throwing person through a portal into the surface of a sun then closing it seems like a save or die. Opening portals to the Lost jungle of Godzilla Island is fine though.

Still, being able to travel between Fort Hope and Old TO with a simple ritual is fun. Or why stop there. Go to Japan.
