Last time among the expedition we awoke and found our ship in not so great shape. Outside we found out that this world has seemingly suffered a great and terrible conflict of such raw power as to knock some people back to the stone age while others happily wield advanced technology side by side. Outside we found many traces of unbelievable amount of contaminants many of which break countless policies, laws, and treaties. Later we successfully got our hydroponics back online though our water loss still continues. We later then sent out some scouts and tried to make contact. No one was particularly friendly and we found out this area is extremely dense in groups. Later we also saw a conflict arise between the group staying in a prison and a fortified township of some kind.

"Computer, question. You said that the prison group showed little agricultural capability and rarely conducted in trade, indicating the potentiality of raider lifestyle.

Have we made any similar observations on the township?"

Observation of township indicates heavy rotational farming outside the town. The people work out there until danger comes in which case they retreat inside.

We detected a similar policy at the cathedral.

Okay, I've made some modifications to the plan last time.

They have likely set up perimeter guard around the flanks and rear. Check for those first with the scanners, then quickly eliminate them simultaneously with quiet and quick and timed troop ambushes. Don't let anyone raise the red flag.

Having blinded them, the skies are cleared, proceed to have our choppers take our best fighters and put them directly under the command of Security Chief Hale.

Having done so, move our main body to attack them in the rear, to show the township we are on their side, while Security Officer Hale and our best are dropped in by airchopper to reinforce the fortified town.

His skills in CQC will do excellently clearing and holding out the bandits in the crowded town.

Our infantry is better armored than their infantry, which means we can spread out better and work in smaller squads to harras them from several angles, and to give us advance warning of reinforcements.

Repeat, keep scanners watching for enemy reinforcements, and give us a warning.

As our squads move forward, when one squad members shield is depleted, another move forward and advance and let yours take the brunt of the fire. When your shield is depleted, he will have recharged or someone behind him will move up forward.

Fire and advance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2dE74RiFqA

Defenders use the same tactic, except not moving forward.

If you encounter an enemy sniper, take cover and cease tactic. Shoot them en mass with supressive fire and call a chopper to bear down on them or dropped a squad nearby to eliminate the sniper.

If they have vehicles, use disinteraytors to button them, that is, melt the vitals such as the sensors and movement joints and gun barrels.

They did indeed have set up a perimeter...scans indicate they actually have a number of forces hanging back. First they have several encircled rings where they have troops. Then you have their reserves and the forces that are being kept to protect both their flank and rear. Whoever these guys are they certainly know what they are doing.

When we tried to ambush them though that was when all hell broke loose turns out a lot of those guys were carrying the big guns and they quickly turned them against us. So when we struck their watchers that was when their reserves took action and advanced while the rest stayed in position.

That was when our main forces attempted to strike them at the rear...and they were waiting for us. Luckily though this DID force them to split their reserves.

Meanwhile our best forces along with Security Chief Hale and our best were dropped off to reinforce the town. This originally caught the townfolk offguard but when they realized we were fighting the same foe they didn't mind so much. However when our choppers attempted to make it through they quickly became underfire. Apparently the bandits made sure to have some AA with them. Luckily for us we had shields and unfortunately for them their weapons were a bit...subpar. So our choppers did make it through sadly on the return trip when one's shields went down and they abruptly focused fire bringing her down.

WARNING
Enemy reinforcements detected coming out of the prison.

The battle tbw isn't going nearly as well as according to plan. Once they realized we had shields(which didn't take them long) they quickly switched ammo types that proved devastatingly effective at slicing through our shields.

Meanwhile they also proved to have snipers and heavies. Their heavies as it turned out were placed in their reserves and true to their the term while slow they packed one hell of a punch and were heavily armored. As in it took a single shot from our cannons to bring one down.
>>
>>33169930
Alright, not the first time a plan hasn't gone to plan when has it ever?

We're still alive, we are still two forces attacking one, and we've learned more about our enemy. We just need a good plan and the balls to carry it out and we will win this one.

You writing more or should we work on a response?
>>
Rolled 86

>>33169930
Problem was though these guys were good they had their basic troops slice through our shields and let their heavies or snipers finish our guys off. Whatever they were using had lackluster performance on our armor but was good with our shields so they compensated appropriately.

If they had actually been focused on dealing with us we would of been in trouble luckily though their goal was something else.

Troops at the town had a much better time as once we showed up they quickly lost interest in the town as it was diverted elsewhere. Certainly didn't stop them from taking some pot shot while they raided the farms and whatever else they could grab but now the town wasn't quite so high on their priority list.

So the battle raged on they only retreated once the prison reinforcements came by to pick them up and provide cover fire.

We did take the opportunity to take out some of their vehicles before they could getaway. Granted they seemed to be civilian models modified for combat.

The farms were raided as well as the townships' supplies within a few warehouses. However they were quite thankful that the bandits failed to get inside the town much as they failed to capture anybody.

That they were most thankful for and thanked us for aid granting us first rights to the vehicle wrecks and heavies(though there weren't exactly much left of them) apologized for not being able to offer more. Though when they went out to pick over the dead they seemed quite disappointing that there...wasn't exactly much left afterwards.

Losses while we certainly bloodied them...but they certainly made to make us pay for it. Despite their lack of tech advantage on us.

Losses

Us 20 and 1 chopper

Enemy 40,10 heavies, and 3 technicals.

Problem is 1 has zombies out the ass.

the other is prowled by monsters.

The third an old rift in the earth is radiated and contains plenty of other hazards...and there is something lurking down there as well.

There is the possibility of another but its hard to reach...requires one to go digging in rubble to gain entrance to a tunnel.

Sadly we DID lose some guys during when we during the first part of the operation forces were cocky and abruptly found themselves neck deep in zombies who tried to bite their heads off. Guys got separated when they reunited later on a few were...gone. We think the zombies got them.

They'll want to believe her because even with their own tech crew, having someone who knows the tech is invaluable, and hearing people want to defect is pleasant.

Once inside she can feed us information on everything - I suggest a small, secondary unit in the deadman's switch that's either transmitting or not and morse.
>>
>>33172585
Hmm, could work, could also backfire. We'd need to get our hands on a vehicle and it'd have to be a pretty compelling story, as well as making sure the transmission route is foolproof.

Digging shouldn't be an issue with disintegrators. I don't know whether radiation would be with shields, I suggest we try and dig at point 4.

It's too bad we have such low military pop though. Any love for trading the sherrif advanced tech for a loan of some of his better fighters until most local threats have been eliminated? We could be given command of his forces while we train them on surplus equipment (if we have any).

>>33172585
It's heromaker material and I like that, but I'd guess there's a 98% chance that we just end up with a dead civilian, and a 1% chance that whoever we send turns and gives us bad info.

Well, the sherrif is trustworthy enough but again, proliferation of our tech leads to it being lost, and it's only a matter of time before the Bandits figure out how it works if they already haven't.

"We need someone to rig a seriously nasty deadman's switch and put on the bomb. Encoded in the mechanism to set off the bomb will be a transmitter we can monitor and get information from - the simpler the better. Once the switch is in place, make your way to the prison, preferably by way of stealing one of the Sherrif's vehicles to make it look good. Once there, gain the raiders' trust. Say you don't like our adherence to rules, say you think they'll pay better because you know the tech they stole, say you have a thing for shower rape, whatever you think is best. Then send us information you think would be relevant. Tell us where you'll head when we attack so we don't kill you by mistake.

Now, we're asking you because we think you have a chance - not a great chance, but a chance - of pulling this off. Any of you crazy enough to think it's worth the risk when it's your ass in the fire?"
If more than one person volunteers, let's get names and aptitudes from our candidates.

Forces dispatched to the local zombie central. Zombies are all over the place and we don't see much sign of our guys. Our troops creep along carefully...the zombies seemingly sticking to the shade in the attempt to escape the desert heat. Only exception to this being them visiting a waterhole where they seem to drink from before slinking off. Using our trackers we slowly pushed forward finding a clearing...seems like were missing two guys one appears to be near a opening in the buildings while the other is much deeper in zombie turf. Obviously our forces go to the easier to find one. While there they notice a pinging from a nearby sand dune...that was when all hell broke loose as our forces got closer.

Suddenly we had zombies erupting below from the sounds and dunes upon our forces.

They had planned ambush and we fell for it.

Officer Hale to his credit did his best to hold our forces together problem is these zombies are built for cqc while he is only trained for it and they were already all around him.

Worst still their ambush has served to alert other nearby zombies of our presence and they are bearing down on us.

As for our fallen comrade?

it was just a corpse they had arranged to serve as bait.

Officer Hale as requested immediate evac but admits its not looking so good for them.

its hilarious I know but the dice gods are on a roll when it comes to the enemy. Its awesome I can finally use exercise my strategic mind instead of being forced to hold back.

When the those figures who leaped off the aircraft hit the sand ruins they quickly opened up scans indicate some model of robot. Regardless they quickly moved forward and unleashed torrents of firepower slaughtering the undead as they quickly advanced. Their objective is unknown...and we sorta lost track of Hawser. They seemed to be splitting their focus on where our troops had been ambushed while a strike force seems to be pushing themselves forward. The ship part that had split away has parked itself near our fallen where it seems to be...collecting them after gunning down the zombies who were attempting to chow on them.

The other robot force meanwhile is moving much deeper in only stopping to grab something of interest to them.

Hawser is seen once more ambushing the zombies from the rear where Hale and the survivors were trapped on the top floor of a crumbling ruin. Once their attention suddenly turned out to be a bad idea...

Alas some zombies managed to get behind them by climbing up they successfully grabbed one of guys before dragging him over the edge...only for a certain aircraft to rise up with him on top before in a robotic calmly asking them to hit the ground and that was when with a single whirr and click a vast amount of armaments revealed themselves and opened fired...slaughtering the oncoming zombies in a mind blistering amount of firepower. Before it veered off picking up some stuff offered by the bots before seemingly winking at Hawser before blasting off and away. Seemingly towards us as a matter of fact where it spat out an odd package before changing coarse.

Alas Hawser was once more gone.

We would get trace signals of hawser appearing seemingly at random among zombies, bots, places of the fallen, or of interest.

Deeper inside in what had appeared to be abandoned...in what looked like a old safe point for the civilians which apparently the undead had followed them into and thus a place of safety was turned into a deathtrap. Even now it reeked of death and there we found it.

Well Genie the real reason we ended up here in the first place was because we needed resources to get us water and food supplie, and this was one of the places that had it.

We did try to get our base set up, it was just really hard to get resources.

Also we didn't have anything at all to trade for the water? not even offering our equipment or fuel?
>>
I haven't done much work on it. But maybe the paladin hospital could be the next one. Working to show the world that a lot of people can be redeems and be a force for good.

You had water in a desert trading that is equivalent to trading life itself thus unbelievably valuable even more so when you include the purity, safeness, and how drinkable it is.

I would be down for that. Maybe make it a government/Mega Corp faction that gain accesses to GROW corp tech to live thru the fall. The government was funding the project and they team up to make it thru the hard ships of the fall or something a long those lines.

We put out Hawser there to have an adventure and tell us in storytime. But I guess we can't even have that anymore can we. Should've just kept her at the base and made her explore for water, there were rivers right nearby...
