"Archibald, you bastard..." Irene grunts as she struggles to break free of the ropes that are holding her tight to a post in this abandoned building.
"Yeah, yeah..." Archibald shrugs. "I've been getting tired of putting up with your shit for a while now, and then you decided to try and get THAT BITCH," he says, pointing to me, "to join up with us..."
"Quit trying to blame Cecile for what YOU did!" she shouts.
"But it -is- her fault," he laughs. "She toed the line between the Tree of Life and Gauthier's personal servants," he says, pointing to Charlotte.

Wait, he has her captured too!?

I squint to get a better look at what he's pointing at, and there Charlotte is, tied up to another post with what looks like steel cords. H- how could they even get to her, she always has Loki and that owl looking out for her!

I... I can't just stand here and watch this happen, I gotta help her get fr-

Someone just tapped me on the shoulder, and it's- Theresa!? That IS Theresa, right!? She's got a stupid-looking mask on, and I can't tell...

On the other hand, that's what the police and/or Justice League are for.

Teenagers should generally stick to doing teenager stuff and maybe like doing community service or something if they feel like doing good things. Trying to play at superheroes without being physically or mentally prepared for it just gets people dead.

Of course when the badguys come at you it's a bit different, but in general one shouldn't seek out trouble. The simple act of being magic attracts enough trouble as it is without attracting more by trying to be batman in your spare time.

Staying quiet in order to keep from drawing attention to myself, I simply nod to her as she removes her hand from my shoulder and vanishes from sight.

Theresa might have shown up here to rescue us, but I hope she doesn't end up hurt herself.

"Now look who's finally awake!" Archbald says, turning away from Irene to stroll towards me. "Yanno, I oughtta thank you. Before you went and fucked up my arm, I would've been perfectly happy to take orders from Queen Bitch over there. But, well... you showed me the light, so to speak.

"Y... yeah," I say. "But Mina..."
"She's just unconscious, I think," she replies. "You pick her up while I help out your friends, and then we can get out of here."

Pretty sure you need to make a separate post with number and only number to help prevent samefagging: as you can't make two identical posts in less than five minutes, mandating number-and-only-number means it should, in theory, avoid samefagging.

Don't get me wrong, you can still buy everything, but there's a lot of hoops you have to jump through. Mag limits, not being able to carry, obscene waiting periods, licenses(which may or may not get issued and cost a ton of money to get), the works.

"G... get Irene first, okay?" I say. "She's still conscious and all..."
"Gotcha," Theresa nods.

As Theresa ducks back out of sight, I breathe a sigh of relief before hefting Mina up on my shoulder. I dunno when she'll wake up, but I hope it's soon... it'll be hard to get out of wherever the hell this if I have to carry her the entire way.

...but maybe...

Yeah, that's an idea. Gently letting Mina back down, I prop her against the pillar that we were both tied to and turn towards Charlotte. Taking the long way around Archibald's body (corpse?) just in case, I pick up a piece of rebar along the way to use in order to get the steel cables off of her.

I guess this is what Theresa hit Archibald in the face with.

"Charlotte!" I shout. "Please, wake up!"

No response. She's just lying there completely limp and tied up with steel cables and that guy has a knife to her throat and he's pushing it closer to-

"CHARLOTTE!"

Irene's not stopping. But why would she, Charlotte's not her friend or anything, and- NO. This isn't the time for this.

Time.

It's like everything's moving in slow motion, Irene's charging towards them and the guy's pressing his knife in more and more and I'm just...

Wait, the sun. If I could just...

take the light

I dunno how long it takes for me to get back to normal, but Allison stays there with me and keeps on hugging me until I'm feeling better. It's times like this that I'm actually thankful that she's living here with me.

"You okay now?" Allison asks.
"Yeah," I nod.
"Attagirl," she pats me on the head. "I know it must've been scary, but it was just a nightmare... you don't have anything to be afraid of, okay?"
"Okay."

Patting me on the back, Allison backs away and heads for my door so I can get some privacy... but then she stops mid-step.

"...the hell?" Allison mumble as she rushes over to my window.
"Uh, what's wrong?" I ask.
"There's a HUGE FUCKING HOLE in your window!" she shouts, stepping aside so that I can see it for myself. "It looks like something burned right through it!"

it actually doesn't need to be infrared to burn at all, other wavelengths can do that as well, so your idea that it somehow must be infrared is not necessarily true

what we did was a magnification of sunlight which was neither a laser or, apparently, limited to certain frequencies

dude, many light does not have to be infra red to burn

for example, you can use a green laser to burn paper right at home

a green laser is called a laser because all, as in 100%, of its light output is of the exact same frequency, which happens to be green in this instance

and it can still burn stuff

infra-red "energy" is not heat, and heat is not infra-red "energy"

the two things are related in common circumstances, but they are in no way the same thing

Infrared is a secondary effect of it being on fire, which is a chemical reaction to the extreme heat generated by the focus of visible light, so stop trying to sound smart.

Fair enough. I did a bit of research, and you're right. Though, in my defense, infrared does produce a lot of heat, is called heat energy, and half the suns radiation is infrared.

C'mon, I just want to wash this nightmare sweat off of me!

"...hello?" I answer my phone.
"Cecile!?" Charlotte calls out. She sounds kind of frantic.
"Yeah," I reply. "You okay, Charlotte?"

"Alright."
"...now I'm starting to regret not having Loki follow you home anyways..." she mutters under her breath.
"Eh? You mean that he wasn't?"
"Well you asked me not to do that anymore so I didn't," Charlotte replies.

Guys, you're all looking at this the wrong way.
The light other people see when they look at you isn't the light coming at you, it's the light coming from BEHIND you.
So bend the light hitting behind you to go forward, and don't do anything to the light coming at you. Then, you'll still be able to see while not letting others see you.
>>
>>33199774
no, because we hide the light that comes from our eyeballs and replace it with the warped light from behind us

complete visible light spectrum invisibility, though it would likely take tons of training and still worse than theresa's powers

This

>>33199774
Active Camo doesn't have to be perfect. The act of bending the light would likely create some irregularities in themselves because we cannot get rid of every reflection of light around us.

The idea isn't to make yourself completely invisible, but to blend in enough where anyone who sees it won't immediately think "THAT IS A PERSON".

At that point, all we need is a sword and we'll be Gray Fox

For a different and perhaps easier way for 'invisibility' maybe we could just bend/stop the light going into our enemy's eyes?

We might as well have Citrine here too. We dumb.

This.

I'm starting to think I may be a lesbian.

If Citrine was CC's big sis she would have made her even dumber by encouraging her to be cheery all the time and pay no attention to the negative shit.

I kid, everyone knows Citrine's the real mastermind of the Reinfamily.

Theresa and CC are both cheery by nature. It's a wonder Mina puts up with them.
>>
>>33200509
>cheery

I get the impression they're both different flavors of neurotic.
>>
>>33200509
its funny how you're right, even though their portraits seem like the opposite situation
>>
>>33200525
I got the feeling that Theresa only became shy after blowing up in Mina's face. She was probably super-cheerful like she is when talking about being a KAITOU before that.

And CC has her casual aura.

This is exactly the case.

With CC I'd imagine it's the Adorable awkwardness.
Kinda balances it out.

the thread's almost gone

will that be it for today?
>>
I would end it right now, but I hae to get to the bank in the morning and I don't trust myself to wake up before it opens if I was to go to sleep now.

I'll start a new thread once I'm done writing the next story post.

>we have a bad dream

>THAT'S THE THREAD, FOLKS, HAVE A WONDERFUL NIGHT!
arch pls make new thread
>>
>>33200586
still 500 posts
>>
>>33200586
Problem? This is normal for Arch, and that was a super-long dream.
>>
>>33200586

There have been threads in PGQ where we did little more than eat our breakfast.

Deal with it.
>>
>>33200586
That's a pretty standard archelon thread.
>>
>>33200583
This is why I own three alarm clocks scattered around my room.
>>
>>33200586
At least we don't have to wait a whole week between threads every time.
>>
>>33200645
some quests go for longer than that

>>33200602
>>33200610
>>33200618
>>33200619
I know, that's sorta the joke.

>>33200645
Thank goodness for that, at least. If FDQ was only every week I'd probably throw Arch out a window.
>>
>>33200645

Archelon is pretty regular as far as QMs go. You wouldn't know the number of boats /tg/ is on at any given time.
>>
>>33200697
Archelon is a blessed machine.
