Little muddled due to events. Missed the subject line the first time, so starting again.

"Can I start questioning our choice of boat yet?" yells Erika at you over the sound of the dinghy's engine.
"We're not even being shot at yet!" you reply.
A wing of banshees is on the horizon. Three of them, flying in an arrow formation over the bay and towards the space tether.
"They're within rocket range!" says the Spartan. "But if we fire from here, they'll have more time to dodge, and if they haven't seen us already they'll see us after that."
"But if we let them close in, that means we will be in their range," says Jacobson. "Why let them get that close?"
You have two rockets loaded and two more reloads of two rockets. The Spartan has the same.

what kind of armor is the SPARTAN wearing?
>>
>>33196135
You have no idea what kind of armour the Spartan is wearing, and it's probably far above your classification to know.

I'll take a screenshot in Reach at some point

>let them get closer

"We should let them get closer. No use in wasting rockets that are going to miss."
The banshees continue on their course, taking a route that is somewhat parallel to yours but will bring them to the same destination.
The five of you watch warily as the Banshees come closer...
... but don't seem to turn towards you. In fact, they come equidistant to the space tether, basically flying beside you, but don't turn towards you or react to you in any way.
"I think they've either not noticed us, or don't care," says Jacobson, slightly awed.
"And here is the perfect range to take them out," says the Spartan. "They'll have no chance to dodge, and it's a likely chance to hit."
The Spartan readies her launcher to fire

You do realize if we let them get away, they'll destroy the place we're supposed to go to and kill the people we're supposed to save.....

"Whoa there Spartan" you say, placing a hand on the launcher and lowering it. "Sometimes discretion is the better part of valour."
"If we don't stop them here, they'll be a threat to the marines at the space tether," says the Spartan.
"I'm sure a company of marines can handle a couple of Banshees better than five marines in a dinghy," you say. "We want to make it there in one piece."
She looks at you for a moment, whatever expression she has hidden by her helmet.
"Fine," she says after deliberation. "But if any of them even look remotely like a threat, I'm firing, regardless of how you feel about it, /corporal/."
"That's a little uncalled for-" Jacobson begins, but gets cut off.
"Corporal," the Spartan points at you. "Sergeant," she points at Jacobson. "Chief Petty Officer," she points at herself.
"/Lieutenant/," Penny interrupts, pointing at herself and suddenly radiating an officer's aura. "Let's cut this shit out right here. Matilda, I'm pretty sure that you and Captain Becker had a conversation about the chain of command, and that you work with the groundies, not against them and not independently of them."

"I say this for everyone's benefit, the arrangement is that the ground ops are to be under the command of the marines. We don't want our naval troops and marines tripping over themselves in the middle of combat, so Captain Becker set it up so that those with the most experience commanding troops are in command. That means that everyone here answers to Sergeant Jacobson. Are we all clear?"
"Yes ma'am," says the Spartan. Lieutenant MacDaniel looks at you and Jacobson, and you both nod and give your affirmatives.

"More Banshees on our six," Erika calls. "These ones look like they've seen us."
Another three Banshees, flying in arrow formation, and this time in your direction. Same dilemma as last time.

I'm all tired and muddled and sore, so I'm going to have a quick shower to wake myself up some. Be back in ten.

Right, back and feeling much clearer. Writin'

"Wait for them to close! We'll take them out the moment we won't miss."
You and Matilda ready your rocket launchers, making sure your backblast was clear and that the rounds were ready to go. Already, you could hear the tone from the launcher indicating that it was locked on to a banshee.
"Just a little bit closer," says Matilda. You wait a moment more, then "Now!"

You both fire your rockets, Matilda firing hers twice. Three smoke trails lead away from your boat, and intersect with the oncoming banshees. Two of the warheads connect head on with their targets, obliterating them instantly. The final banshee makes an evasive maneuver, and the last rocket hits it in the wing. The Banshee limps off, its anti-grav units flickering.
"That's two kills!" you announce with a whoop.
"More banshees at our five!" calls Erika. You and Matilda repeat the same strategy with this group, taking down another two and leaving one wounded.

You aren't far from the space tether now, but like a horrible cliche, now is when the biggest threat arrives.
"Spirit! At our nine!"
A spirit dropship flies low over the water, leaving a wake in the waves below it. There's no doubt about it, it's coming straight for you, to blow you out of the water with its heavy plasma cannon.
"Trooper, I think we can hit this one from maximum range," says Matilda. "I think we can risk it."
You've used three of your six rockets. You're only five minutes out from the space tether, but the spirit will get here in less than one.

It's too big and too slow to evade the rockets even from a distance, letting it get close with all it's weapons is a bad idea.

"Go, go, fire now!" you tell her. You fire the last rocket in your launcher, then hastily going about reloading. Matilda fires two shots, then throws her launcher into the water.
"I'm out," she says.
The three rockets impact the flying dropship as you get your reload ready. the door on the left side of the craft gets blown open by the first rocket, followed by the two follow up rockets detonating inside the troop compartment. A blast of fire and body parts erupts from the troop bay, sending bits of aliens flying into the air and water.

"Holy shit!" Jacobson says at the sight of flying alien gibs. You send your last two rockets away. The first impacts the rear of the craft, the cockpit, leaving a sizable dent in the alien metal. The second one follows the first three into the interior of the craft and explodes. It seems to wobble in flight. The under-belly turret manages to fire off a burst, but then the craft's ability to fly fails, and it plunges into the sea with a loud crash.

You're showered by hot spray coming from the plasma impacts that the spirit managed to get off, but it seems none of you are hurt.
"We're holed!" says Erika. The inflatable skirt seems to have taken a single round of plasma that didn't hurt anyone, but burnt a hole through the rubber lining, allowing the dinghy to deflate. Already the boat has started to slow down as its buoyancy drops. It's not going to stay afloat for long.
"More banshees are on their way," say Matilda. "We're going to need to get out of here fast."
You're not far from the shore, but you don't know if you can make it there before the banshees do.

Yeah... my favourite RP website, which I have sunk many hours into, the mods are now banning people for criticising them and are placing RP players (which accounts about half of the website) at the bottom of members they care about

I think I'm gonna have to cut this short here

Next thread on wednesday (tuesday for you guys)

Damn, hopefully y'all can talk some sense into them. If not, sounds like it's time to start looking for new forums.
Sorry to hear about that though, good luck with that. Anyway, thanks for running, and see you next week.

SRS and Feminism in action, ladies and gentlemen.
Or possibly Furries in action. Furries lack empathy and hate criticism too.

Or perhaps it's Furry Feminists. Wouldn't that be some shit.
>>
>>33199315
well thanks for the thread so far

Mods=fags regardless of location.
You can't "talk sense" into people, you can only tell them what they already believe. The belief "Use of my powers to hurt people is bad and I shouldn't do it" is natural for superman, but impossible for mods.
