How to play: go into your choice of image editing program, paint or otherwise, pick a critter, change it incrementally, in response to the environment or other players. Save the image as a .png always. always use a hard line tool such as the pencil, never a paint brush, it makes the image hard to edit. keep it simple, not everyone is a Picasso. Anyone can evolve any creature, to include the one you just evolved as a splinter off that species. Each image represents a new species or variant. If you are a predator, you must name a species/ variant that you are preying on. As prey, the next evolution can respond in kind with an adaptation. How to evolve: One evolution per turn. Color changes are not counted as such unless they indicate a significant change that you want to tell about. An evolution is a gradual thing. tiny nubs become feet or new appendages that are moved over time. Tell a story on why what is changing. IE: development of club to break rocks, club continues to be refined with selective survival, etc. Creativity is yours. On occasion I will instigate an event, a time of dramatic change and rapid evolution or perhaps even mutation.
>>33196649Story: Time is insignificant when a god is shattered. Each fragment went on to become it's own entity, carving a unique path through the clay of fate, growing to where the template could never be reassembled. You are the progeny of such a fragment, shattered over and over again. A variant, a species. You are made of various forms of carbon and minerals, constructed out of countless micro structures by a science lost on your tiny and insignificant mind. No more aware of it or able to control it than an organic its own body. However speed is on your side, and adaptations come faster than other species. Your home is and has always been this dark and endless stretch of caverns. Most of you feed of the abundant thermal and chemical energy provided by the magma vents, while some crystals glow dimly, alive as you are, but with no mind or ability other than to grow. Some consume these, some consume others. A few still harvest at the minerals of the cavern.Survival is all that matters.
>>33196697Tiny little creatures. Species 3 ekes out a survival strategy. They plant themselves, becoming tiny fingernail-sized fotresses. Think of Terran barnacles if you will. They anchor themselves above thermal vents and gather the heat that radiates from beneath the deep places of the world. Mostly sedentary, but strong enough to keep other creatures from stealing their warmth. They viciously defend their source of energy, with comical waves of their tiny arms. Hopefully such displays will be enough. So far it is, as wings or horns or claws have not yet come to be.No real change, other than the granting of a name and a method of gathering energy that every being requires.Being machines, they would likely classify themselves in a different manner, but for our sakes, let us use Earth standards of taxonomy. or at least a mockery of them
>>33198264>>33196649Species 1 is not as massive, or quick, or much of anything. However it is opportunistic. Using it's wide flat appendages it simply clambers over, and on top of species 3, hitching a ride to the thermal vents. Frequently it will just absorb heat and mineral gasses not taken by species 1.Meet the caput spurius
>>33196649>>33198454Species 4 wants to eat the Allanties primus, however the caput spurius are frequently on top of their preferred prey. The forward blade becomes more of a hook to prey off the meddlesome pests. This hook also helps to uproot the Allanite.
>>33196649lastly, species 2 is a vampire monstrosity that detects energy radiating from other creatures. when found it chips into their hard stone and drains the life from their bodiesit is called Lamia Magnes
>>33198454In response to the parasitic nature of species 1, species three has bred, with those who have horns dominating the species for their flipping ability of enemies and a general nuisance to get onto.
>>33199677Found being predator time and time again, the Kromotos found it particular easy to have a detached sack of 'power' as well as growing another eye like amenity to confuse a would be attacker.
Is op still alive?
>>33200127still here. these evo games are slow, waiting to see how it picks up. If the game dies, its sad, but it happens, though I hope it does not. For now I cannot interfere with the circle of life.
>>33199959caput spurius will have none of this. The spindly appendage of the host is quickly smacked off with a modified clubbing arm.
>>33196649After much exposure to yellow minerals in a remote part of the cavern some #3 become very hostile. Whatever was in that stuff has a kick. The Irateus Assbeatus begin pummeling the top predators with their angry little arms. #4 descendents, coming right at you.
>>33196649hitting the sack. change on. If someone else wants to be OP and warp this into a new and horrible land, go for it. its all about the change.
An offshoot of creature 2 uses its radiant energy detection organs to locate useful mineral deposits in the rock. It then uses its probe like a drill/jackammer. It is called Lamia Minoris
>>33201372An Offshoot of Lamia Minoris uses the mined minerals to gain necessary energy to keep itself working. a Primitive storage for excess power is developed. (i had the exact same idea for using the "horn" as a drill for minerals so i'm taking it further)
>>33200712Increased agression from hosts (>>33200791) causes some caput to seek calmer grounds. The Caput Lumis developes slightly larger pads, allowing it to mount some of the glowing crystals that populate the caves. Regular absorption of the luminescent chemicals causes them to glow as well.
>>33198264The allanites swapping away their rivals the best gain more energy and more reproduction chances.A strain doubles in size (requiring a more efficient energy collection method as seen here with the extra red parts) and start to use some of their anchoring limbs exclusively for swatting.
>>33202052Continous digging and energy conversion generates huge amount of heat. in order to cool its system, lamia rigger develops cooling crystals on its back.
>>33199677>>33200110Lamia Magnes greatly enjoy the external powerpacks of the Kromotos, but dislike the bladed claw on the other end. In an effort to avoid detection they begin to introduce a numbing agent with their probe.
>>33196649as a reminder, anyone is welcomed to jump in at any time. The cavern has been active lately, and small bits of detritus fall down crushing unfortunate vyrii creatures. Adaptation has occurred.roll for change! 1d10, (type dice+1d10) in the email field, naming the creature this roll is for. You may roll up to twice, the same effect compounds. (so, dice+2d10)1- develop armor against falling rocks2- develop a digging mechanism3- develop better locomotion4- develop a new detection method5- develop a new feeding method6 choose an alternate food source7- become quicker8- grow larger9- grow stronger10- gain a tiny, tiny, boost to intelligence.
Rolled 10, 10 = 20>>33207455Rolling Caput Lumis
>>33207789Using their vastly (relatively speaking) increased intelligence, the Caput Lumis begin using their club-like appendage to break off parts of the living crystals they call home. They then carry these pieces to be replanted in more stable cave sections. For some this means going deeper; for others, higher.
Rolled 1, 6 = 7>>33200791
>>33200791>>33208535>>33207455Irateus Assbeatus developed a hard hat to defend against rocks, as well as now using a probe to search for light given off by Caput Lumis who are their favored prey.
Rolled 9>>33207455Let's see how it goes for Lamia rigger
>>33209089>>33205356dudes got parasites.
Rolled 10, 7 = 17>>33205356>>33207455and how it goes for caput lumis who tend to live on top of rigger. As riggers get stronger, caputs evolve extra hard.
Rolled 3, 7 = 10>>33209089>>33209161Yeah i know but i posted the image so that if someone needs the simple version for editing. >>33209164Seems logical. if host gets strong then parasite gets faster and smarter. image related?
Rolled 7, 7 = 14>>33200110>>33207455
>>33210438a larger energy sack, and longer legs allow the Kromotos to sprint about. They Frequently attack the larger Lamias in an attempt to get to the energy rich Caput Lumis.
>>33208121A strange new adaptation arises among the Caputs. Instead of fighting for dominance, these tiny creatures, probably half the size of a dime, start banding together in family groups. These little clans help protect their treasure troves of life-giving crystals. They rotate duties in shifts. Some stay home to guard their turf, others go out and hunt for more. Impressive for a creature this primitive. They are called Caputi coetus, after the Latin word for "group".
How could I miss this?Bumbing because it is 2 am, and I can't participate right now.
>>33209164>>33209286The increased speed and tactical reasoning of the Caput Spirius allows them to scurry away from the aggressive Iratea, hiding themselves on the underside of the mostly docile yet powerfully strong Lamia Rigger.
Rolled 9, 3 = 12>>33201372
>>33207455>>33201372Harder, better, faster, stronger.the Lamia Minoris competes with the Vampyric Lamia over minerals. The gradual symbiosis between the Minoris and the Caputs has made predation on either much more difficult.Clashes with the mobile Irateus and immobile allanites provide their primary interactions in the wild.
>>33214850Some of the Lamia Magnes begin using their limbs to burrow under the more sedentary prey, allowing energy to be extracted with only the probe extended above the surface. This provides protection from both debris and other species.(Their arms will likely adapt soon, the behavior seems enough for one post. Prey creature shown is merely one example.) Sub-species dubbed Lamia Magnes-Excavio
>>33215385But those guys live under thermal vents, does that mean these new Lamia Magnes have extreme heat resistance now?
Have some inspiration. Been working on this for 5+ hours. Hope you like it.
>>33215615I'm under the impression that they cluster on and around the vents, with the strongest maintaining the closest possitions via arm-wackings. Also>Prey creature shown is merely one example.>>33216238I like it. Creature incorporation is awesome.
>>33220594Considering that Vyrii are "organisms" made up of nanomachines, that could actually become possible sometime down the line for some creature.
Hello children, what's going on in hereHop in my windowless stand template transport vehicle and I'll give you some high energy batteries and rare earth metals
>>33198264A branch of the original has begun multipyling after a pair of small changes to their otherwise pure, and unchanged formsTheir bodies are smoother, less rough, and their surfaces are mottled in color. These adaptions allow them to blend in more seamlessly with the rock, allowing it to hide more easily
>>33216238great stuff man!
>>33222066This little bauble has been lost for a long, long time. No bigger than the palm of a human hand, it represents the core of something old and forgotten, yet every vyrii knows it all the same. A tiny sliver of a dead god, though this tiny sliver represents the very core and the first emotion it ever experienced.Just being in it's presence can cause odd manifestations. Choose to interact with it and corrupt your species forever, yet gain power.roll a 1d101-nano former- able to produce raw nanites for constructive or destructive capacity. however this power is measured in a moment before taking several hours to charge again.2-Crushing heat claw- a superheated claw.3- Comm spike- A little antenna to communicate and organize with your fellow species. pack based behavior.4- command spike- Control one other creature, depending on its will and strength it may be evolve to be resistant to your commands.5- Spike launcher- shoot out little shards of crystal6- Massive bulwark- become durable at a cost of mobility and enlarged size.7- manipulator tentacle- a small apendage to interact with the world and grab things.8- mining beam- a very short ranged mining beam contained within your body.9- Cryo beam- A very short ranged freezing beam, all crystals turn blue.10- pick any two.
>>33222867>33222867The Lamia Rigger is now hunted. Using it's newfound cryobeam the Kromotos can somewhat slow down the movements of other creatures, inhibiting their escape.
>>33213688Lamia riggers back becomes segmented to grand more mobility to move with its new parasite.
Rolled 3>>33222850>>33223042Time to roll
Rolled 7>>33210640>>33222850Inquisitive and exploratory by nature, the herder caput must know more about this sliver.
>>33223238Well, that's interesting. OP, can the herders move the sliver of rage to one of their nests? They have the pack midset and now the manipulator appendage to attempt such a thing.
This thread must live.
So these are some sort of rock organisms, right?
>>33196649h-humans will always be su-superior! we will adapt... as always...
>>33229289Rock and metal with crystalline components.
Rolled 1>>33222850Rolling for the Caput coetus. >>33210640
>>33210640>>33231276With their nanite construction abilities, the Builder Caputs build little igloos of rock and stone. The better to defend their crystals from intruders and keep all that precious energy for them and theirs.
>>33229289Creatures which have nanites instead of cells.
>>33231252>>33231763So they are like inorganic life or something?
>>33232388bingo. rock, crystal, metal. Inorganic life made from nano machines, but with no awareness of their own nature or ability to manipulate it in any scientific or industrial fashion. The hut builders and communal livers are probably the smartest ones of all, but then ants also build tunnels.>>33223291I dont see why not. If anyone else wants to attempt to horde the rage sliver, they are welcome to. In fact. lets make a game of it. You are welcome to take it, and horde it. Roll a D100. If anyone rolls a higher number than you, they get it. you may not use rage evolutions after this, but are welcomed to evolve in a way in which to facilitate moving such a large object.
Rolled 10>>33214660>>33222850Lamia Minoris will instinctually seek out the relic, as do so many other life forms.
Rolled 27>>33233206Rolling for the herder, then.
Rolled 73>>33233238The Rage imbued the Minoris with both command and control antenna. By acting as a pack the Minoris would capture and enslave the Irateus creatures, sending them as the vanguard of their efforts to secure the coveted icon from the Herder vyrii. This is war.
>>33223069updated the art for the roller. longer horn, now communicate with other riggers
>>33223238poster did not update art. here is an update.
In case you fine gentlemen (and ladies) need some inspiration, then chew on some of this.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3019nJDXVKs
A bump, because this game deserves to live.
>>33240454As a friendly reminder, anyone can join in at anytime and evolve anything. There is no creature ownership. I would also like feedback on the lurkers who aren't playing as well as those who are on what you like and dont like, and what could be done to make this more engaging.
>>33240454That animation reminds me of a trash world evo game that ran here some time ago.
bump because i want to watch this world grow
>>33203238They develop better more dedicated swapping limbs.Paddle shaped to increase hitting chance
Hoping this survives until later this afternoon so I can make an evolution.
>>33231429>>33236756A great war between minscule creatures, like the battles between ants and termites, rages on the ceilings of the cave. A battle between the Caputs and the Minoris. All for resources, those precious crystals that radiate life-giving energies.
>>33249708>>33222931the corruptive influence of the rage has further transformed the kromotos into a living weapon. Unable to scale walls or ceilings the kromotos takes shots of opportunity at the battle above it freezing random vyrii creatures who plummet to the floor below, there it can consume their energy from the shattered remains. this change has rendered it's beam more powerful, but it's body slower and less agile.
>>33200724Quickly becoming left behind, an offshoot of the Caput Spurius develop their non clubbing appendages into smaller and more dexterious limbs to allow them to scuttle to more opportune locations in short bursts of speed. They've begun dropping from outcroppings of rock to land on slower moving prey so they can sap energy from them.
>>33196649Caput Radix. Rather than acting as parasites to other creatures, their limbs grow into the deep, seeking out raw materials for reproduction, and trace amounts of radioactive materials for energy.
>>33249708The war between different strains of vyrii is a great danger to all tiny machines. Seeing how its host is also getting targeted by angry creatures, some of the caput spurius , deepen their parasitic lifestyle to more symbiotic existence. Now they are able to help their host when they are attacked.
