My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. Though I'd like to think that my upbringing was pretty normal, my parents got a really good job offer last year that would force them to move to the opposite end of the country... and that was the end of my "normal childhood." And after reading that weird book that my best friend Mina had sent to my house, I myself can't even be called "normal" anymore.

So I had a horrible awful nightmare, and ended up shooting a laser through my window because of it. Go me.

After dealing with that and talking with Charlotte about that suspicious guy I ran into last night, I got dressed and now I'm waiting for Allison to finish cooking my breakfast.

She asked for it, so I'm gonna dump ALL my personal drama on her. Minus the magic power stuff, of course.

"Actually..." I say, "...do you remember how Mina and Theresa had that huge fight last year?"
"Yeah," Allison nods. "And then you got dragged into it and stopped talking to Theresa up until like yesterday?"

It makes me feel really guilty when she puts it like that.

"Yes, that," I sigh. "Well, umm... I found out the reason -why- they were fighting."
"Oh?" Allison replies. "What, did they get into some huge nerdfight? Like Theresa claimed that magical girls were better than robots or something?"
"No," I shake my head.

And then I take a deeeeeeep breath.

"Mina and Theresa were going out," I say. "Like, serious girlfriends in love stuff."
"What!?" Allison drops her spatula on the floor. "Those two were seriously IN LESBIANS with each other!?"

That's... definitely an interesting way to put it.

"Yeah," I say. "They were a couple."
"H... how far did they end up going before they broke up?" Allison asks, now looking me right in the eyes.
"I have no idea," I roll my eyes, "and I don't WANT to know."
"Aww..."

C'mon, I'm trying to be serious here!

"Suddenly I'm not surprised that you all ended up friends," Allison says as she picks up her spatula and washes it off in the sink. "Birds of a feather and all that..."
"Shut uuuuuuup," I groan.
"Pardon, ma belle Cecile," she replies, bowing. "S'il vous plait, continuez."
"Whatever," I sigh. "So they got into a huge fight and that's why they haven't been talking all this time."
"Okay."
"But now I'm trying to mend things because... reasons."
"You trying to play cupid?"
"No!" I throw a napkin at her. "Even if I -was- stupid like that, they both say that it's never gonna happen. And Theresa was hitting on me pretty much the entire time I was at her house yesterday!"

>>
Why do so many people seem to like that complete spaz Theresa better, when we've near-unanimously been going out of our way to hit as many flags with Charlotte as possible??
>>
>>33201080
I'd say it's helping us get past it, but I wouldn't say we're there yet. I think the big thing is that we're trying to consider this seriously as a major life decision, but since everyone we try to talk to about it keeps poking fun about it, it prevents us from actually believing our own feelings.

When we spend an extended period of time with any girl, we always go home to our sister who starts teasing us about our girlfriend. Subsequent embarrassment results in us denying it, which makes us more confused about our own feelings on the matter.

"No," she shakes her head. "it's my fault. It's entirely MY fault, and I feel fucking awful about it but I can't even talk to anyone other than you and that just makes me feel even guiltier."

Well crap. Maybe if I called her earlier, she'd have had a chance to vent about this instead of bottling it all up until right now.

"Sorry," I say, "did your parents say anything about you staying in your room?"
"No," Mina replies. "Marcus noticed that I'm spooked about -something- and he managed to convince Andy to drive me home from school until I'm feeling better since he can't do it himself, but I didn't tell him about what it was that spooked me for obvious reasons."
"Oh," I nod.

"No, it's fine," I shake my head. "You're my BFF, and part of that is being for you when you're feeling crappy."
"...thanks," Mina sighs. "That would be nice."

And now I have plans for after school. But I'd probably try to go home with her anyways, so that doesn't really count.

"So is there anything new in the scary psychic powers front?" Mina asks.
"I figure out how to change the color of light," I reply. "Pranked Theresa pretty good with it, too."
"Huh?"

Oh crap, she didn't know that I was-

"No, it's fine," Mina shakes her head. "I said that I was gonna try and be civil when it came to her, so that's what I'm doing."
"Okay," I sigh.

Then I explain all the stuff that Charlotte and Irene told me since the last time I saw her, along with the dress incident from yesterday. That last part seemed to cheer her up some, though she does seem kind of disappointed that she didn't get to see me in it herself.

Telling Mina "everything" would probably include that messed-up nightmare that I just had, but that would only serve to spook her even more than she already is. Not to mention that she'd probably start blaming herself for that, too.

No, I should do something else...

"What're you doing?" Mina says, looking at me as I reach in my pocket and pull out my phone.
"Just gonna show you something that'll cheer you up," I reply. "IF I can find it, anyways..."

Ah, there it is. The picture of me and Charlotte in matching dresses and dammit why is she so cute

Stupid Allison, it's like she opened the floodgates when she made me admit that.

Pushing my impure thoughts to the back of my mind, I show Mina the picture... and she starts smiling a big goofy smile.

"What, I thought it was cute," I reply, pouting.
"I didn't mean that in a bad way, you're cute as hell," she shakes her head. "It's just... I wouldn't have expected YOU of all people to actually dress up like that."

"Hey, Theresa!" I wave.
"Hm?" Theresa turns around... and then meets me with a beaming smile. "hi, Cecile! How's it been going?"

"No," she shakes her head. "Just basic testing of my limits, that kind of thing. And I was wearing a balaclava so I wouldn't get found out even if my ability failed."

A bala... what?

"Anyways," Theresa continues, grabbing me by the hand, "I spotted a mugging in progress!"
"What!?" I gasp. "Did you call the cops?"
"Well I did afterwards," she replies. "But I needed to do something to stop it -as- it was happening, so I tazed the bastard right good!"

"What?" Theresa replies.
"You're not still planning on making a kite-oh costume and all that crap, are you?" I ask.
"As a matter of fact, yes," she says, proudly crossing her arms over her chest. "I bought some fabric last night and have been throwing around a few ideas..."
"Absolutely wonderful," I shake my head.

Why can't she just be normal?

"Why're you asking?" Theresa asks. "Are you reconsidering my offer to become my sexy assistant? Because I could totally make something for you too-"
"NO," I stop her from continuing. "It's just that in my nightmare, you showed up wearing a weird outfit..."

Jut in case that nightmare I had is a premonition of the future, I think I'll ask her about one of the specifics. And so, I pull out a notebook and do a crude sketch of what I can remember of what she was wearing in my dream.

"This," I hold up the notebook. "It was something like this."
"Uh..." Theresa takes the notebook from me and pores over it, "Oh wow!"
"Wha?"
"This!" she shouts. "This right here, it's perfect! The mask design and the suit-inspired theme keeps the image if a kaitou while also letting me conceal the fact that I'm a girl... and I'd been wanting to use a cape in the design but couldn't figure out how to incorporate it without it getting in the way, but a half-cape like this is EXACTLY what would work!"

Oh no, I just encouraged her.

"Cecile!" Theresa pulls me close and squeezes me as tightly as she can. "Thank you SO much, this is just perfect! I could kiss you!"
"Uh..."

one thing that bothers me about certain fictional worlds like this one is the thing that charlotte told us in one of the earlier threads, about how CC shouldn't tell people her branch because it tells them *everything* that person can do

um, no it doesnt

i mean, the way most powers seem to be, at least the offensive ones, it just seems like anyone with a simple handgun is way more dangerous... and that's just a handgun, not everything else in the world

>>33202767

I think we just set a self-fulfilling prophecy in motion...

We've caused this. The future is inevitable.

Seeing that I just screwed up horribly, I take the time to explain EVERYTHING about my nightmare, including the fact that she got sliced up by Archibald's triangles and maybe died. That little revelation seems to calm her down some.

"...and for all I know, that stupid dream could have been prophetic or something," I say. "So please try not to-"
"Can your Branch even DO prophetic dreams?" Theresa asks. "Because I don't know if you should really be -quite- that paranoid about it-"
"I don't know," I shake my head. "But I definitely don't want it to be."

Having said everything that I wanted to say to Theresa for now, I leave the locker area and make my way to homeroom. As I walk into the classroom itself, I notice that Mina has her head on her desk.

"Hey," I say, brushing my hand across her back as I walk over to take my seat, "are you gonna be okay?"
"Huh?" Mina looks up and seems relieved to see that it's me. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just kind of tired, that's all."
"If you say so," I reply.

Mina says that she's not feeling sick or anything, but I think I'll leave her alone for now. And I'm sitting right next to her too, if something -was- to come up I'd be the first to know.

With nothing better to do, I poke around with my phone for a bit... but my mind keeps drifting back to that freaking nightmare. Ugh.

Honestly I think we should talk to Theresa about giving the book to Charlotte.

Mina should be allowed to stay out of this and lay low.
>>
>>33203071
Or we have to find another way to avert the prophecy. Like telling Charlotte about the dream and coming up with a plan to change the prophecy. Like her expecting the attempt at knocking her out, avoiding it, pretending that she is knocked out and gathering her animal friends while the rest of the prophecy stays how it is. Then, when Mr. Teleport tries to take her hostage she is not helpless.

Or telling Theresa, so she hits Archibald several times more and isn't cut up.

Class is about to start soon... but eh, I have enough time to send Charlotte a quick text message about that dream I had.

"hi charlotte does over shine make prophecy dreams????????"

Aaaand sent, just as the teacher walks into the room and starts talking.

My timing is PERFECT.

Not wanting Mina to get in trouble, I nudge her awake and then lean back in my chair as class begins. Ah, the world of boring classes and notebook doodles. I've -almost- missed it. But just almost.

The buzzing in my pocket means that Charlotte probably sent a response, but I'm too busy attempting to pay attention in class and ferrying Mina around to actually get around to checking it until lunch period.

We're a teenage girl on limited funds. Or we could just spend all that time and energy into getting really good at shooting lasers, and settle for pepper spray and a stun gun like a normal teenage girl.

After bringing out my own food, I take a look at my phone to see what Charlotte's message was...

>let her come along on her own
But if Mina continues to be frosty, try to make her play a little nice.
>>
>>33203472
And we should IC consider what to do with the books.
>>
>>33203468
>let her come along on her own
Remember, no shouting in the library.
>>
>>33203493
technically neither book is ours, so the best we can do now is talk to theresa about hers

mina isnt going to be in on the meeting
>>
>>33203468
>let her come along on her own
but if she seems to be struggeling too much give her a helping hand.
>>
There is no fucking way this isn't going to end in shouting why are we in a library get them both up and move elsewhere.

oh be a bit more optimistic, anon :)

>Charlotte is keeping a lot of things from Cecile.
Actually she already told us straight up that she was keeping some things from us.

Apparently, the more you know about the crazy Branch voices (she didn't mention the voices specifically, but it's clear from a player standpoint that's what she was talking about) the more likely you are to experience Bad Things. And we also know that apparently Branches can drive some people bonkers, so it's probably a safe bet that going bonkers from a Branch has something to do with the crazy Branch voices.

So either she's (to the best of her knowledge) telling the truth, or this is one of those things where if we listen to it too much it might open the door for the REMOVE DORITOS voices to drive us bugfuck insane.
>>
>>33203525
>leave the room

Cecile does not need to be here. She is out of here.
>>
>>33203545
She's mediating. Providing stability.
>>
And so, this brings an end to the first double-thread night of False Dendrite.
Many thanks to everyone who stuck around all night, it was fun.
ETA on the next thread is TBD, but I'll be running Princess Guard repeatedly until I get to the end of the current in-game day.

And now, I take questions while I head to the bank.
>>
>>33203550
She's a target and she's going to get yelled at too.
>>
>>33203557
She's a beloved and caring friend.
>>
>>33203556
What was the exact text Cecile sent to Charlotte about the Mafia guy?

What does Charlotte think about Cecile''s typing style?
>>
>>33203556

Cheers. Just wanted to say your quests have been the highlight of my day for months and I thank you for that.
>>
>>33203556

Did the decisions we made in the dream sequence make any difference?

Arch, does CC actually remember that the Voice thing talks to her, or no? Also, what's the official name of the voice?
>>

Is CC aware of those start of the day posts?

Treemind.

>mina isnt going to be in on the meeting
Why not? What if she wants to be rid of it?

I don't see any reason to exclude Mina. She owns a book and is in-the-know about Branches, it involves her too. She deserves to be in on the discussion just as much as Theresa does.
>>
>>33203615
i assumed the meeting where charlotte and theresa talk wouldn't be about the books specifically
>>
>>33203615
The way I see it Mina has 3 realistic options.

1.Read a book.
2. Hide a book and lay low.
3. 1 or 2 and bargain with the book.
>>
>>33203468
Any chance we could get something like what the character's briggs myers type is, their favorite band, music, tv show ect?
>>
Anyone have any idea how long it will take to get through the next day in PGQ?
>>
>>33203631
If she reads the book she'll basically be obligated at that point to take the leap with us in handing it over to Charlotte. Assuming she doesn't go rogue and ditch us, but I'm not sure what possible motivation she'd have to do that.

Right now the fact that she doesn't have a Branch is the only thing keeping her safe, if she gains one suddenly she becomes an easily detectable target just like we are, and I doubt she'll be ultra-lucky and get a presence-concealing one like Theresa got.
>>
>>33203652
hahahahahahhhaahahah
>>
>>33203652
We're in the evening, I think? I'd say about three threads. Maybe two if we're quick.
>>
>>33203626
Not sure how that topic wouldn't come up instantly, Charlotte will put two and two together when she realizes that one of our friends JUST SO HAPPENED to manifest a Branch within the exact same timeframe that we did.
>>
>>33203652
We'll be done by the end of the month, I asume.
>>
>>33203693
it may be suspicious, but remember that one way for latent branches to manifest is for them to be exposed to an active one

it's likely somewhat common for two friends to become branches together
>>
>>33203652
Probably one thread for the lead-up to dinner, two threads for the dinner itself, one thread for the pre-lolifight, one thread for the lolifight, one thread for the aftermath, one thread to make bedroom eyes at Lucianna, then one thread to go back to the castle and get into some random hijinks before bed.
>>
>>33203715
Didn't she say that there would be maybe 2 or 3 naturally occuring branches in a city this size? Even if it is possible, I think anybody with half a brain would find it a little too suspicious.
>>
>>33203530
>So either she's (to the best of her knowledge) telling the truth, or this is one of those things where if we listen to it too much it might open the door for the REMOVE DORITOS voices to drive us bugfuck insane.
That's probably what it is so Cecile is pretty much fucked. She is already on her way to becoming pants-on-the-head-and-hand-puppets-out-of-socks superhero crazy
>>
>>33203730
i think it was about five or so

and yeah, it would be suspicious, but not overwhelmingly so, in my opinion
>>
>>33203718
We're RIGHT BEFORE the lolifight. Dinner comes after that.
>>
>>33203715
Its just way too convenient. Char isn't stupid, all this happening when she knows there is at least one book in town is going to set off all her alarm bells.

We may as well just come clean with her when we introduce her to Theresa, it'll save us a whole lot of stress over the elaborate meaningless obfuscation we'd have to engineer otherwise.
>>
>>33203732
We just need to not pick the REMOVE options when given the chance. That's all.

... We're fucked.
>>
>>33203732
>pants-on-the-head-and-hand-puppets-out-of-socks superhero crazy
She will be Theresa's sidekick, not the superhero.

The CRUSH THEM WITH MIND BULLETS option should win over the REMOVE option easily.

REMOVE was a one-time mystery box. We know what it does now so it's not a mystery box anymore, it's just a boring regular box.
>>
>>33203761
However, by comparison Theresa will be the sane one of the duo.
>>
>>33203763
I'd like to believe that too, but I'm expecting a flood of REMOVE from praise the sunners.
>>
>>33203763
There will always be mystery boxes. And they will always be chosen.
>>
>>33203772
>not being grossly incandescent
>>
>>33203772
Well then they're crappy at praising the sun then. We can do that on our own now.

What is mafia guy's opinion on Cecile's butt?
>>
>>33203556
What age is everyone? Or has this already been mentioned?
>>
>>33203788
You mean could. If we practiced. We are going to blow a hole in Mina's wall and get in so much trouble.
>>
>>33203789
He pretty clearly was checking out that butt. Presumably he approved of the butt.
>>
>>33203804
But where does it rank on his butt scale?
>>
>>33203575
>What was the exact text Cecile sent to Charlotte about the Mafia guy?
Not enough time to type such foolishness, ask me again later.

>What does Charlotte think about Cecile''s typing style?
She thinks that it's kind of dumb, but she's used to it.

>>33203580
>Cheers. Just wanted to say your quests have been the highlight of my day for months and I thank you for that.
Thanks, I really appreciate it.

>>33203581
>Did the decisions we made in the dream sequence make any difference?
Yes.

>>33203590
>What's Lucky Rabbit do?
Who knows, you might be seeing it later.

>>33203594
>Arch, does CC actually remember that the Voice thing talks to her, or no?
She remembers some of the stuff that it says, but generally chalks it up to her normal-type inner voice.

>Also, what's the official name of the voice?
Another Cecile.

>>33203598
>Is CC aware of those start of the day posts?
Not consciously, no.

>>33203644
>Any chance we could get something like what the character's briggs myers type is, their favorite band, music, tv show ect?
I answer a lot of those kinds of questions on the ask.fm.

>>33203652

2-3 threads, I hope.

>>33203789
>What is mafia guy's opinion on Cecile's butt?
It is very much to his liking.

>>33203799
>What age is everyone? Or has this already been mentioned?
Answered it on the Ask.fm.

If you have any more questions, I'm up for maybe ten more minutes or so.
>>
>>33203556
How long has Allison thought Cecile was a lesbian and why did she start thinking that?
>>
>>33203799

>copypasting

Just how old are the cast of FD? Are they in school, collage, or have jobs?
Cecile, Mina and Theresa are all 16 and in highschool.
Allison is 19, she's in college.
Charlotte is 19 and works for Gauthier.
Irene and Archibald's ages are classified.
Marcus is 20 and in college.
Andy is 20 and works at a bar for fancypants-types.
Kevin is 22 and works out a lot.

>>
>>33203850

You don't need to. I don't have an account and I can see every answer just fine on the link Arch provided.
>>
It occurs to me that if we spun it the right way we could probably convince Theresa to join up with Charlotte just based on her "it's just like my Japanese animes" mentality. I mean she started out wanting to be a master thief, now she's on a superhero kick, she'd probably equate the type of work Charlotte does with something or other that she considers cool.
>>
>>33203868
How do we break it to Theresa that she is a side character and we are the main character?
>>
>>33203892
How does Charlotte break it to Cecile that she is the main character and Cecile is a side character?
>>
>>33203892

Show her arch's twitter.
>>
>>33203892
she can be the main character if she wants, CC is just the focus character
>>
>>33203821
>How long has Allison thought Cecile was a lesbian and why did she start thinking that?
Allison noticed her lack of interest in boys a loooong time ago, but just chalked it up to her being a late bloomer up until she saw Charlotte walk her home.

>>33203844
>When and how does the world end?
When the last turtle draws its last breath, God will no longer see any reason for this world to continue.

And now I sleep. Thanks for playing!
