“Let’s shut the hell up and go inside already,” you say, concluding the discussion.

“Agreed,” says Rowan, bouncing forward.

You lead the charge into the venue. After wading through line, the dudes at the venue have a quick look at your IDs before they allow you to scamper in. Once inside, the best descriptive word is pumping, even though you’re just a sparsely populated hallway. You reluctantly wait for your entourage before proceeding forward, and into the rave proper.

You’ve heard the joke that rave is an acronym that stands for radical audio visual experience, but that’s possibly the best way to describe what it is you’re confronted with when you go in.

Lights flash. Bass beats. Undulating mobs of human-ish figures move. The air’s full of sweat and exhilaration, though the ventilation system’s probably working full blast to fight it. It’s like everyone’s in their own world with the costumes, and it comes out on the dace floor. There’s almost too much energy in the room for the walls to contain. It is, in short, awesome.

Your people forge into the rolling masses, until you and the guys are able to shove enough people out of the way to make a space for yourselves.

And then that’s when the dancing starts.

---

You don’t really know how long you’ve been here, but it hasn’t been long enough. Your muscles burn in a good way, and you feel appropriately broken into the scene to start doing something a little differently.

“I love your costume!” someone screams from behind you. They’re barely audible.

You turn slightly to smile and scream back, “Thanks!”

Everything’s going the best. (-5 Stress: 14/100)

Rowans doing some trick step maneuver in time with Baron, while Nathan does some incredibly embarrassing gangster style thing and Vikrama does another gangster style thing, but pulls it off a million times better. All in all, your friends aren’t like, the best dancers, but they’re definitely spirited, which is probably more important anyway.

You’re about to start in on some break dancing, maybe, but Ring Wraith gets in your way and you have to call it off before you commit. Over through the surging dancers, you see a spot’s cleared for somebody dancing like wildfire. You can’t spot the costume, but there is a girl in an incredibly risqué Mystique costume that you do spot. Everybody’s got the stuff they like, you guess.

>>
Before you go start striking out on your own, you feel obligated to your friends to give them something more maybe street worthy or whatever.

“Nate, stop doing that right now,” you yell, sliding over to the guy and slapping down his fancy finger tricks. “You do it like this! Keep your knees bent and just feel it out,” you say, doing what he was doing, but emphasizing the portions that he was definitely not pulling off.

Nathan watches you for a second, then starts trying to follow along. “Like this?”

“No!” you say. “Like this,” you emphasize, increasing funk levels to swagtatious tier. A minute of your coaching, and Nathan’s actually not so embarrassing to be seen with.

“He’s moving it, he’s grooving it,” Vikrama says, dancing in a complimentary manner. Okay, she needs no help.

“Make sure he keeps on doing it,” you add, mock scowling at them. Meanwhile, Rowan and Baron are experimenting with the things you’ve shown Nathan, but they’re more advanced than he is. They could probably handle some more dangerous moves. The DJ segues the beat into something kind of hard and industrial, as if challenging you to get more dangerous moves into these people before it runs out. [Music?: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrj-yPhrkPM]
>>
>>33247676

They don’t need their hands held like Nate, so you lead mostly by example, keeping your movements easy to follow and repeating more than you normally would. The repetition gives them time to get into it themselves and feel it out before you show them something different.

In fifteen minutes, you’ve got them not just dancing, but jumping. Figuratively. Just needed to push their limits, you guess. Anyway, they’re doing stuff on the level of the rest of the party now, so they don’t like, stand out or whatever for their lack of prior experience.

Meanwhile, you notice that the circle of respect around the dancing guy over yonder has increased in size. Lots of crazy people here – it’d probably pay off to have a look around the party and see the costumes, at the very least.

“I’m gonna go see what’s up over there!” you yell at your peeps, pointing over at dance master 3000. You then dive off into the crowd. You shove and slide your way through oblivious dancers until you reach the outer ring of the dancer’s audience. You see what the big deal is immediately.

Draco Malfoy, bright blonde haired and vested in the finest Hogwarts sweater vest, is doing literally everything. Maybe not everything, but close enough. He’s doing hand stands and kicks, wild spinning, and chest-isolated robot moves. He’s good. Maybe really good. Maybe really, really good.

“This guy’s really damn good!” yells Darth Maul, confirming your suspicions.

>Pretty damn good, yeah.

“But he’s Slytherin,” you argue. “He’s evil!”

Maul gives you and your demonic appearance a flat look. “Pot calling the kettle?”

“Well whatever, yeah, he’s pretty damn good,” you say. “Make way!” You barge past him and throw down the gloves by stepping into the dance clearing that Draco has danced out.

You then drop to the ground, spin about on your hands, your tail whipping out behind you as a counterweight. Then roll onto your stomach, buck upwards, wind up in a hand stand, and do some air kicks before pushing off the ground and landing on your feet again. The shoes were definitely the right pick.

The crowd cheers, while Malfoy finishes spinning on the ground. He halts and gets up, sensing the enthusiasm isn’t directed toward him. He turns around and looks you in the face.

Wait. He’s not Draco Malfoy at all. It’s Wolfgang, Moriah’s brother. He’s only dressed like Draco.

He looks at you, surprised by your sudden apperance (and your appearance) and quirks an eyebrow in a look that says, What do you think you’re doing?

You were wondering that yourself, now that it’s somebody you know instead of the plainly antagonistic face of Slytherin House.

“Dance! Dance! Dance!” the crowd chants.

Well, you’ve got pressure on you now to do something cool.

[Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLyH94jNau0&t=2m41s]

“Hi,” you say blandly, loud enough to be heard.

“Hello,” says Wolfgang, tone equally mild.

Well, you’ve already pushed yourself just about as far as you can go while wearing a dress, so you think you’ll dial it back down until such a point that you need to rethink your strategy. You’ll stick with some classic pop locking, which should look way cool in any case.

You swivel out into the circle, rolling your shoulders and sliding your Chucks over the floor in glassy, jerking motions. You twirl in place, dropping low and glding back up, freezing section by section of your body at a time to achieve maximum smoothness while still keeping your movements all rickety and spontaneous. You do some fancy legwork and roll your neck around until you get into the most unnatural position possible. That’s when you freeze frame and put the ball back into Draco Wolfgang’s court.
>>
>>33248948

Wolfgang picks up where you put down, pop locking around in a big semi circle, bouncing off each side whenever he reaches an invisible barrier. He goes lower than you could being dress-constrained, and does some other pretty wild things you’ve never even seen before, his joints seemingly melting and his entire being becoming made of jelly as he moves so robotically, that it comes around the other side and starts to look lifelike again.

This is not going as planned. Though, maybe he just got lucky this time. You’re sure you can out dance him and his stupid green and silver striped tie.

This is getting serious. Nobody out dances you on your special night, and no dress is going to stop you from laying on the sweet moves. You adjust your dress and tie it off significantly higher to give you the range of motion you’ll need for what’s next – you manage to keep game face enough to play it off cool and not get too self-conscious about yourself (+5 Stress: 19/100). You leave your jacket unbuttoned, because it’ll increase your style factor as it’s all waving around and stuff when you’re break dancing.

The music changes just in time for you to execute your rebuttal.

[Music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dLyH94jNau0&t=53m16s]

You lunge forward, bounce off your front step and veer off to the side, land on one hand, do a one-hand stand. You kick your legs out and roll into a shoulder-back spin, from which point you get your hands under you and keep the spin going. Eventually you break out of it and just start throwing all your ground-moves together one after the other. The world spins about you wildly in a whirl of light and sound as you leap from hand to foot to hand to foot again and again, twisting low and fast.

But we chose this.

I mean, I suppose the rest of the players are railroading YOU.

But what you're really saying is 'I don't like what other people vote for, boo hoo!'
>>
>>33249580

You go for a while, intermittently coming back up onto your feet to do some style poses before dropping again and twirling it up. The crowd eats it up, and when you’re starting to get so dizzy that you don’t even know which way is up anymore, you figure you can call it good. You pounce off the groudn and back to your feet, and pass off your dazed stumble as an ending flourish.

Attention shifts to Wolfgang, who shows no weak face in reaction to your attacks. Instead, he continues with the last vein of his smooth, mechanical pop locking. And though his technique is amazing, this is ground he’s already circled, and the crowds are fickle.

Street Cred: You: 1, Wolfgang: 1

>>33249625
Yes, after we chose to tell our friends and acquaintances that we were going with them to a rave, then chose to go to said rave au naturel, we simply chose clothing on the day of the rave. This shouldn't surprise you.

>>33249652
We wore shoes that work for it, it's a short dress that doesn't really get much in the way, and we wore tights underneath. It's fine.

Is there a serious argument over a bloody dress getting in the way of our bitching dance moves? I mean, really? What's so wrong about enjoying how the quest just goes?

Fuck, just because Sierra pulled her hem up a bit doesn't instaslut her, especially when in the context is being duchess of fucking dance.

I legit don't understand why it's so important to point out silly little things like some costume choice. Jeez.

You seem to fail at comprehension. When there is a dress that comes to your knees, keeping them together, you can NOT open your legs no matter how agile you are. You can not do much of the moves without spreading your legs more than 5 cm. It is not about physical power or agility or anything.

As I said, we were dancing, bending our knees, and seemed to have no difficulty making motions. If there was a problem with dancing beforehand, the QM would've mentioned it

She's fairly sexually pure.

I can only hope that most of these people who spout this purity shit are joking. It's almost gotten as bad as the "Handholding is soooooo lewd!!!!" thing.
>>
>>33250236
Languid's posts strongly imply she's a virgin whose previous attempts at making out with people have just led to her feeling awkward and embarrassed for a few days after the fact.

So, fairly sexually pure. But with almost every other black mark possible on her soul.
>>
>>33250228
We're wearing a dress and tights right now, we're probably more conservatively dressed than the other demon girls.
>>
>>33250228
I'm pretty sure that's what they were going for. Wolfgang is the only dude in the quest that's even remotely husbandoable. Well, I guess Baron kinda is too, but he's less desirable than Wolfy
>>
>>33250228
Which was unintentional - probably, likely. Also according to what Languid wrote, Sierra left her jacket on but open for maximum flashy.

I'd not call intense badass dancing a striptease. But that's just how I see it.

I don't think Wolfgang considers Sierra slutty now, if that's what you're worried about. He might joke about it though.

Well otaku did start burning shit whenever a female character is implied to have sex with only one person that she is in a committed relationship with.
>>
>>33250245
Of course I'm joking. That handholding... thing doesn't have a place in this quest, I agree. This is not the best word for it, but I consider Hellborn quest a more serious one than, say, Tale of Witches. Though I like light heartedness.

>>33250262
Yeah, that's what I've garnered as well. I'm wondering how bright her future looks romantically considering how she looks and how averse she's of touching.
>>
>>33250325
>I'm wondering how bright her future looks romantically considering how she looks and how averse she's of touching.
I'm still of the opinion that she's way too fucked up emotionally for a romantic relationship with anyone short of a perfectly-understanding angel with the patience of a saint (Harvey's the closest one to that so far, and... he's way too much of a little brother to us for that), and that as soon as the relationship ends she would likely go on a stress-fueled rampage that kills at LEAST one innocent person.

So, I hold that dating someone is literally tantamount to murder.

I'd call that 'pretty fucking dark.'
>>
>>33249598

I think she's pretty self-aware as far as her emotional fuckup-ness is concerned, and she's DEFINITELY aware of how dangerous stress is.

Until she's confident she has her stress problems under control (she should see a therapist) it's reckless endangerment, at the very least, to try to date someone.

>Though I don't really see any good options unless Rowan gets a dick.
Well, she is already pretty buff. If she grew a man-body with that dick (Sierra's straight, not bi, so dickgirls probably aren't her thing) then yeah, she and Sierra would probably be all over each other.

Genderbent Rowan is best husbando.

Personally, I'm not enjoying this portion of the quest, but that's okay, I can wait, other people are having fun. However, I do like to agree with people who express the same opinion as me in these threads, for solidarity. Unfortunately, the majority feel they have to jump up and scream "autists" at the top of their lungs just because someone has a dissenting opinion.

Don't be afraid of the word railroad, it applies to more than just the QM in this context. Also, there are some sources that will posit that we all secretly want to be railroaded.

You are the QM, and you are the authority. Apologize for nothing.

P.S. I thought your flag run had a brilliantly sardonic quality that I highly enjoyed.

>>
>>33250376
...jeesh, man. I'll agree she'll have issues, but if she's ever going to learn to be emotionally mature then having relationships like this is healthy. If worse comes to worse, we can convey our stresses to the Hallows so we don't lose our shit. We've done it before
>>
>>33250919
I think we need some serious therapy and stress counseling before the idea of a relationship is even on our radar. We aren't even remotely ready for one, even if it might SOMEDAY be an important step for us.
>>
>>33250470
Right, but just because she's aware of her emotional problems and aversion to touch doesn't change the fact she's a teenager, and teenagers aren't going to act as if they're in a vacuum-sealed bubble and forgo sexual relations altogether, nor is it mentally healthy to do so either.
>>
>>33250470
>Genderbent Rowan

>>
>>33250919
>>33250944
Got to remember that she's still young, even if she's about to hit 18.

Though time might be against her what with the invasion and god knows what else.
>>
>>33250955
I actually don't have a problem with her experimenting, maybe losing her virginity, whatever. It's romance that I have a problem with. It's incredibly rewarding, but also occasionally incredibly stressful, and while normal teenagers cry themselves to sleep or overindulge in drinking or pick a fight when they're stressed, Sierra FLIPS THE FUCK OUT and MURDERS RANDOM PEOPLE IN BLACKOUT RAGE.

Until we get that stress under tight enough control that we can confidently operate without that risk, actual relationships are Bad Fucking News for anyone anywhere nearby when we have our first fight/breakup.
>>
>>33250990
I know, right? If Rowan ended up a dude - no matter what the reason - we'd be fucking DONE. 10/10 husbando of the year, every year.

Instead, we have to settle for 'actual dudes.'
>>
>>33250944
I'm sorry anon, I agree that getting counseling is rational but it doesn't fit with Sierra's attitude at the present time, and neither do I think would be forgoing sexual relationships and making adult decisions. She isn't an adult, she's seventeen years old, and if that is ever going to be something that happens it's probably going to need to be brought up by the Hallows or some other figure in her life
>>
>>33251024
Sierra doesn't have to flip the fuck out when she's stressing, and she's already developing health--well, healthier coping skills then outright physical violence
>>
>>33251062
Oh, for sure. I don't expect Sierra to be smart about this - hell, I'm going to vote for the Bad Decisions like kissing boys or saying 'yes' when asked on dates. I'm just pointing out that it WILL go wrong. Terribly wrong. And there won't be anyone to blame but Sierra (us).
>>
>>33251111
Not if we the players do our best to curb her stress as best we can. It doesn't have to be an automatic bad end if a relationship ends poorly, we can work with it. We have the tools and support.
>>
>>33251024
This, being a teenage grill in a relationship is risky as fuck.
There's still Harvey way into the future when he gets a lot more mature, the closest thing we can get to a gender-bent Rowan. We're immortal anyways.
>>
>>33251181
If her first breakup doesn't bring her up to 100 Stress, I will be absolutely fucking shocked.
>>
>>33251111
What about normal relationships like friendships, mentors, and shit? She lost her mind when Monster died. What the hell is going to happen if Rowan or Isaac or Borya dies, especially in their line of work? Or what if Moira decides Sierra isn't a good influence on her, and breaks off their friendship?

Relationships in general could cause Sierra to lose it
>>
>>33251091
Yeah. An example of this is the whole almost drowning thing. I don't know if it's a good example but it shows than she can (sometimes) control herself even in extreme duress.

Not that it helped her escape the water but still.
>>
>>33251219
And fuck, what if they get hurt in general? I understand you guys wanting to keep from berzerking, but any kind of relationship, romantic, platonic or familial could lead her to lose her shit. Romance may have a higher risk factor, but the shit she does in her job is a more likely stress risk factor and yet you guys are diving headlong into it
>>
>>33251219
I agree thoroughly, but there is the time factor. We can't be getting laid or go out on dates if Crowther decided to randomly give us a mission at any time, we never even got to get a land well orb.
>>
>>33251207
>>33251208
This is assuming that demon physiology is a perfect mimic of humans. For all we know, demon mating rituals/pheromone triggers/etc. might be completely foreign. It's been established that the base attractive standards are the same, probably because of conditioning from having grown up among humans (Harry Potter/Danny Boy). That doesn't mean she will naturally be volatile if separating from a significant other. Perhaps demons are naturally promiscuous.

I wonder how much of her current volatility is due to her demonic nature rather than the teenage aspect. What if she will always have to suppress her explosive nature?

Ha! Bad move on his part. He’s just set himself up so you can knock this out of the park.

You smile broadly and, though you briefly consider losing your jacket, you definitely don’t need the edge to finish him off. And plus you like the jacket look. You can finish him in style, not need to lose your cool. It’s certainly a good thing you tied your dress off, because there’s no way you’d make it through your next set without ripping it to shreds.

You start dancing. You dance all your moves, together, strung out in one, harmonic chord of elegance and skill. You go from robotically shifting across the floor to leaping about on your hands to melting like a body without a skeleton and back again. It’s brutal, but it’s brutal in your favor, all the way.

People scream. Maybe you scream at some point. You’re not sure. But by the time you’re done, the show’s over.

Street Cred: You: 3, Wolfgang: 1

The designated dance circle wavers and breaks as people rush in to fill the space. You acknowledge the people talking you up, complimenting your costume, and telling you how great everything was while you fix your dress and make sure your jacket doesn’t have any huge stains or scrapes on it. Thankfully, it’s tougher than it looks. As for the dust, you’re able to brush it off, more or less. Importantly however, victory is sweet, even if it means you getting swarmed by adoring spectators. Anyway, you extract yourself from the tangle and manage to work your way over toward Wolfgang, kind of. He's bumping fists and trying to escape the center of attention, though he may be entrapped for another few seconds. You could probably vanish mysteriously if you wanted to.

Although vanishing mysteriously is its own reward, you actually kind of want to talk to Wolfgang. You snake through the crowd and emerge near the young Mr. Crowther.

“Them’s was some nice moves, Draco,” you say, projecting your voice over the din. “Twenty points to Slytherin.”

He excuses himself from conversation with a couple partiers and turns his attention to you. “This is where I’d normally lay down a harsh burn for your crimping my style,” he says. “But you get a free pass this time – were you raised by a dance academy or what? Because I didn’t think they made people who could move like that.”

Well, they kind of don’t. You may have had some advantages with your tail, inhuman endurance, and super reflexes. “Sorry man. Didn’t know who you were ‘til I’d committed to schooling you,” you say, smiling. “Moriah here too?”

“Somewhere,” says Wolfgang, gesturing vaguely through the masses. “You here with anybody?”

“Some friends,” you reply. “Just, y’know, Halloweening up the night.”

He nods in understanding. “Didn’t get a good look until now but, you look way different,” Wolfgang says. He takes a second to look you over, and is clearly impressed. He flashes you a thumbs up. “I can dig it.”

>Thanks – it’s a lot of fun.
>Really though, nice moves. Didn’t expect it from you.
>This is going to sound lame, but I’m kind of jealous of your sweater vest.
>Where’s the last place you saw your sister?
>So are you here with anybody? Besides Moriah, I mean.
>Cool. See you next week, right?
