Previously, on Avatar Quest......

After a day of intense training and sparring, both you and Felna were sufficiently exhausted. Though it was late at night, the two of you made your way up the creek towards the camp, only to be met by Galda in the creek bed. After a tense discussion, Galda struck you, knocking you to the ground. She then proceeded to take our her remaining dagger and hold it to your throat. You attempted to talk your way out of the situation, but instead wound up with your throat slit. You vaguely remember bending elements other than Earth, and healing your wound before passing out. The day, you awoke to the adults and Felna discussing what happened. Your father refused to believe the story, but Ren asked to speak with you in private, where he told you that he believed what Felna had said, and explained why Galda despises benders. After some pleading from Ren, you agreed to show mercy to Galda. When Ren then hinted at your ability to bend other elements, you dismissed the notion as ridiculous. You then spoke with your parents, and found that your father still refused to believe the story, even after hearing it from you. This caused an argument between your father and mother that ended when your father stormed off. Your mother told you that she believed you, and, like Ren, discussed the possibility of you bending more than one element, mentioning the Avatar. You told her that sounded ridiculous, and she admitted that you were probably right, as there hadn't been an Avatar in thirty-two years. After your mother went back to camp, you tried unsuccessfully to find Felna before passing out. And, after having some rather odd dreams, you awoke to find her speaking with your brothers and Lee. You asked to speak with her in private, where you confided in her your wish to see if you could bend fire. She agreed to teach you, and the two of you went to the beach, where you spent the day training, and successfully firebending.

>Welcome to Avatar Quest. Here are the rules.

Decisions are made by vote. Each vote has a ten minute interval, after which, the option that receives the most votes it the one that is chosen.

There are no write-ins unless explicitly stated

Some options require rolls. In that event, rolls will be out of 100. Whether rolls succeed or fail is decided by the first three rolls. If one passes, then you succeed regardless of the other two. Rolls will really only occur during training, or when trying something new.
All decisions are final. If you regret voting for something, too bad. Think carefully before you make decisions.

Try to keep waifu bullshit to a minimum.

"I have a long way to go before I'm as good as you," you tell Felna.

She smiles. "Thanks, but I know you can do it."

"So, do you know any other tricks?" you ask.

"One or two," she tells you. "I'll teach them to you, if you want to learn."

"As long as I can bring the heat, I'm game," you joke. "But for now, I'm feeling pretty burnt out."

She laughs. "I think you've trained enough for today. You've worked hard, and already made a lot of progress."

"I'd say that speaks more about your ability as a teacher than mine as a student," reply. "You know, Felna, you're a great friend, and an amazing teacher. Seriously, thank you for this."

She gives you a warm smile. "You are welcome, Avatar Shin."

She nods. "That might be a good idea; not sure how thrilled our parents will be with us wandering by ourselves after last night."

The two of you make your way around the lake, and begin the walk up the creek bed towards your Earth stairs. Felna is quiet most of the way, but when the two of you go up the stairs and begin making your way towards camp, she speaks up.

"Shin, can you do me a favor?" she asks timidly, stopping in her tracks.

"So, why would the Queen knowing I'm the Avatar be a bad thing?" you ask.

Felna's expression darkens. "While I don't share my sister's extreme views regarding benders, I do share her low opinion of our Queen. Her position of "bending superiority" says that benders should be held in higher regards than non benders. She wants bending families to be on top, with all of the power, while the non-benders are at the bottom with no power. That isn't right, placing one group of people over another. Now, imagine she found out that the Avatar was born in her kingdom, to a prominent bending family. She would do everything she could to use you as a symbol for her cause."

"Well, your parents would most certainly be opposed to having their son used for political gain," Felna tells you. "So, telling them beforehand would put them in a position to oppose her in regards to you. That would put her in a difficult position; arresting or executing a pair of benders and war heroes would not sit well with a lot of people."

"And if I, as the Avatar, spoke out against the concept of "Bender Superiority"? What would happen then?" you ask.

So, the two of you make your way back to camp, immediately being subjected to Bulo's teasing, as expected.

"Geeze, ALL DAY again? Don't you two ever run out of energy?" he teases. "I have to admire your stamina, but the two of you need to learn some self control and keep your hands off each other every once in a while."

"I told you to stop with that shit," you remind him. "Now listen. We were out scouting."

"We found this great lake last time we were sparring and went back to scope it out," you interrupt. "I think it would be a good place to settle. Come on, I'm going to go tell Mom and Dad."

He blinks. "Wait, seriously? You were actually...okay, let's go tell Mom and Dad."

He gets up and follows as both you and Felna make your way over to your mother and father, who are apparently having a rather heated discussion that immediately halts when they see you approach.

"Welcome back, both of you," your mom says to you and Felna.

"Get the others," you tell her. "We're ready now."

"Alright, just give me a minute to round them all up," she tells you before going to collect the rest of the group.

"How exactly did you find this lake, anyhow?" your father asks.

"We followed the creek bed," Felna explains.

"And why would you do that?" your father probes further.

"Curiosity," Felna responds easily.

Your father stares at her for a moment. "Well... it seems curiosity paid off in this case. Just be careful in the future; this place is dangerous, after all."

Your mother soon returns with the others, and you all set off into the woods. The adults, Galda, and Felna are mostly silent during the walk, though Lee and Sonyo continually ask questions that Bulo tries to answer, despite knowing as little about all this as they do. You make your way through the woods, into the creek bed, and follow it to the lake. You and Felna lead the others around it until you reach the beach.

"This place is perfect," Ren comments as everyone spreads out along the beach. "Ready sources of water, lumber, and food...it has everything we need."

"You both did great," your mom tells you and Felna.

"Indeed, but now, we need to discuss plans to build here," your father tells her. "Come on."

All of the adults go off to plan the city, leaving you with Bulo, Felna, Galda, Sonyo, and Lee.

Galda turns to you. "You and I need to talk," she says.

I still don't know how she did it, but she wanted to meet her aunt."

When she did, we could barely recognize her; her eyes were swollen shut, she had scorch marks all over her back, she was missing several of her teeth, and had a deep cut in her right shoulder. It was days before she could even open her eyes again, much less function like normal. For the longest time after, she was absolutely terrified of benders. "Fine," you tell her somewhat reluctantly.

She nods. "Good, then let's go."

"Be careful," Felna whispers as Galda makes her way to the nearby trees.

You follow, already preparing yourself in case she decided to attack you. You're honestly somewhat surprised when she stops just past the entrance to the forest, and leans against the trunk of one of the large trees.

"I spoke with my father," she says, getting right to business. "He explained what happened after I was knocked out. The final decision of what was to happen to me was left up to you. Even if your father didn't believe what happened, everyone else did. In the end, you would have had the final word. Yet, you didn't pass any judgment. You knew I was a threat to you, knew I tried, and nearly succeeded in killing you, and that I would likely try again. You could have had me killed, banished, sent back to the capital and thrown in prison, but you didn't. You decided to show mercy. I would like to know why?"

She seems more annoyed by this response than anything else.

"Maybe I'm just not the kind of person you thought I was," you tell her before turning to go back to the others. "Let's go see what the adults are up to."

After a few seconds of silence, you hear her say "Fine."

You make your way back to the others, with Galda following close behind. You see relief on Felna's face at seeing you unharmed.

"We need to talk," Galda tells Felna, and the two walk to the spot where you and Galda just had your conversation.

"So...care to explain what the hell that was about?" Bulo asks, for once not making a perverted joke. "Felna seemed terrified when the two of you went off together, and not "I don't want my boyfriend alone with another girl" terrified. Actual fear."

Retarded, no, unrealistic, maybe.
It would have gotten to the point and allowed us to actually finish the conversation while acting humble.

>>
>>33369943
Supplicating ourselves before someone who wants us dead and literally begging to know how to get her to like us?

That would probably just make her try to kill us again. Or think we were being insincere.

>>

>>
>>33370614

You do realize this is a SOMINUS quest? He's not afraid to kill the player off if they are making decisions with negative consequences.

"Character development" is an insufficient reason to risk her ire. Shin gains literally nothing by pissing her off.

>>
>>33371232
because we are not trying to be accidental provocation is not the same as intently provoking someone, I was willing to bet that any anger she had would be downscaled because we were trying to sympathise and that any anger would have been short-lived.

anyway the option wasn't taken so what does it matter?
>>
>>33371263

It's relevant for future decisions involving Galda since they will come up.
>>
>>33371263
For the same reason attempted suicide is still troubling.

Also, when people are pissed off, they don't tend to think of the intentions of the person who set them off.
They just care that they're pissed off.

And when it's someone who hates us for no good reason and expects us to want to torture her just because she can't move rocks with her mind, well...
>>
